I will continue to forever sing the praises of Stargate being really good about giving their ladies agency.
But it’s suddenly very clear to me that they’re not nearly as good with their POC
#personal;#jay watches sga;#in SGA Ford's a major character for one (1) season#then he becomes a drug addict you rarely see#the only non-white passing recurring characters after that are aliens#and as much as a fucking LOVE Teyla and Ronan#Ronan espcially isn't the BEST rep as a man who had been on the run so long#that he defaults mostly to violence and such#Grodon was a minor character that died end of season 1 as a martyr to McKay#like. we got Zalenka who's Czech and like.....I think the rest of the earth Main Cast is American or Canadian#and White#Still love the show! but seeing issues now that I'm paying attention which is interesting#if they ever reboot Stargate like they keep considering I wonder if they'll be better about their races#bc iirc there AREN'T even major recurring asian character in SG1 OR SGA#tho there's that one IOA lady in SGU but I never remember her name bc she's so minor in the other two and I didn't watch SGU#God I'd love a reboot that's just as fair to BIPOC as they've always been to ladies#and!!! give me canon queer or give me death
