20 Questions for Fic Writers
tagged by @lo-fi-charming
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 82, 83 if you include the one I wish I hadn't orphaned.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 2,721,477 words
3. What fandoms do you write for? Oh boy. Homestuck, The Magnus Archives, Mission Impossible, Borderlands, Welcome to Night Vale. Some one-offs in other fandoms. First really cut my teeth on The Dresden Files.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? Let's seeeee.
dustsceawung (The Magnus Archives) with 4,600 kudos
a steady hand, a delicate man (The Magnus Archives) with 3,316 kudos
dripping with alchemy (Borderlands) with 2,663 kudos
The Eurydice Suite (Homestuck) with 2,164 kudos
I'll bring the motion (The Magnus Archives) with 2,163 kudos
5. Do you respond to comments? When I have something fun or interesting to say, yeah. I don't wanna just say "thanks!" on every comment so I tend to try to repay the comment with a tidbit or something?
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hmmm. See I'm a Happy Ending Guaranteed kind of writer so I don't know. Maybe we float before the sea at dusk because it's technically a bad end?
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? GOD that's hard... I think maybe all the world is earth and water or the Five Years Later ending of The Eurydice Suite.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not anymore. 8)
9. Do you write smut? what's smut never heard of her
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I'm going to choose to interpret this as "fusions" instead of "crossovers" and in that case I have written....
Homestuck/Inception (The Eurydice Suite), Homestuck/Kinda Sorta John Wick (so we don't kill the ones we love), Homestuck/Fallout New Vegas (out here the good girls die), and WTNV/Good Omens (all plans are golden in your hands)
Out of those, I think the New Vegas one is the most out-of-left-field.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? By now, at least 10 times that I'm aware or.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? A few times, yep! Russian and Ukrainian I think.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? BOY HAVE I.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? I despise this question and if this question had a face, I would punch it. I assume this has to be a ship I have written since this is a writing questionnaire.
In my heart of hearts, it's Karkat and Kanaya. I enjoy their platonic love more than any romance pairing....
SEE THE PROBLEM WITH THIS QUESTION is that I... think for me personally, the pairing is a vehicle of the wider story/themes, so I can't say "Oh its DirkJake" because to me the KTOWL DirkJake is wildly different from, like, TES DirkJake.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? The barely-inspired-by-Hellboy AU that I should probably just write as an original story. But I won't because I'm a coward, lmao.
16. What are your writing strengths? Consistency and structure, I think. I'm a tradesperson, not an artist.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I feel like I lack a lot of foundational material that other artists have due to my lack of education and just generally not knowing things. Like, the kind of works I personally admire and learn the most from, I lack the toolset to create myself, which is constantly frustrating.
Structure is sometimes a shackle, and I often feel like I can't execute something truly Artistic because to me, writing is a trade, not an art.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I do this sometimes and lemme tell you, every single fucking time I do, I rigorously check everything.
Like, I recently agonized over whether a character would use Verzeihung versus Entschuldigung in a fic, and that was a solid hour of research. Worth it tho!
I'm of the opinion that if you're just going to use google translate or something, then I would elect to write it as ["Excuse me," he said in overly-polite German as he passed], but that's me.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Uuuuuuuuh ppppppprobably Gundam Wing or something? Way back in the era when you could post smut on FF.Net.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Could it be anything other than KTOWL? Honestly.
I am taggingggggg @arquiving and @interropunct

So I’ve been listening to lots of podcasts at work lately to break up the monotony of my office job. Mainly they’re horror, suspense/thriller, drama, that kind of thing. Trying to give ratings without spoilers~
(Check out updated pod recs here)
The Left Right Game (a journalist investigating an urban legend that gets increasingly more dangerous as they go): 5/5, this being one of the first ones I listened to set the bar really high tbh, it was great, immersive sound design, genuinely suspenseful and creepy moments, interesting plot, my only gripe is that I didn’t love the ending but I couldn’t dock a star just for that, highly recommend, maybe I’ll retire to Wintry Bay someday
Alice Isn’t Dead (delivery trucker goes searching for her believed dead wife, comes across supernatural towns and creatures and a conspiracy that goes way deeper than one missing woman): 5/5, so so good, enjoyed a lot, I loved learning the truth about the Thistle men, still don’t completely understand oracles but that’s okay, some delightfully creepy moments, this will be high on my recommendation list (also it’s by the Welcome to Night Vale people, which I actually haven’t listened to lmao)
Harley Quinn and the Joker: Sound Mind (it’s a Harley Quinn origin story basically): 5/5, very enjoyable, sound design great, plot was fun, I don’t know how accurate this story is to the original Harley Quinn origin story but I liked this a lot
The Burned Photo (two women try to fight a familial curse haunting their bloodlines): 4/5, not bad at all, I thought the sound design was great and immersive but I thought the monster’s voice was a bit goofy idk, the plot wasn’t bad though ofc it was pretty bittersweet and sad in the end, tho I think it was never going to be happy for everyone involved
Blackwood (group of teens investigate the town urban legend and uncover more than they bargained for): I can’t decide…3.5 maybe? It was okay. I didn’t love it or hate it, I’m pretty neutral about it. It was interesting enough
Gaslight (girl goes missing and then reappears to her best friend years later with little explanation): 3/5, feels like there should be another season, wasn’t as dramatic/suspenseful as I thought it would be (maybe that’s my own fault tho, from the description and stuff I thought there would be more to it)
Ice-Cream (teens suspect the friendly neighborhood ice cream man of abducting little kids and uncover a dark secret): 4.5/5, interesting and a lil creepy, there’s something oddly funny about hearing someone scream “fuck you Beelzebub” even in context, sound design is pretty good and voice acting is great, finale was also pretty good but I’m docking half a star bc of that very last bit and bc I said so, overall short n’ sweet, no pun intendo (I’m kinda glad that it’s only the one season and not super long, gives the feeling of not overstaying its welcome. Also in awe that they made it within like a month, gonna go listen to their other podcast Cascadia too)
Cascadia (submarine expedition to uncharted waters, gone wrong, we almost died!?): 5/5, by the Ice-Cream people so I expected great sound design and voice acting and said expectations were met tbh, yes god love the drama, ocean depths are inherently scary to me so this is top tier horror, season one was chef’s kiss beautiful and I heard season 2 is coming so I’ll be waiting eagerly for that
Listening now:
Within the Wires (season 1 is relaxation cassette tapes from another world, season 2 is a guided museum tour I think): also by the WTNV people, interesting so far, the plot that unfolded in the first season was cool to watch as it played out, but also I am so sad. I like it so far
Rabbits (girl goes searching for her friend who disappeared because of this mysterious Rabbits game): feels like a really slow start after a few episodes, I kinda wanna get to more action soon please
Wake of Corrosion (apocalypse where characters are trying to find other survivors and also answers): mild shrug, not sure what to make of it just yet. Only like 2 episodes in so I think I need to give it a bit
Ars Paradoxica (scientist accidentally invents time travel and is thrown back to the 1940s): pretty interesting so far, science is fun
Spoiler comment for Cascadia under the cut bc it's the one I just finished and I have Thoughts
As much as I enjoyed Cascadia, when I think about the expedition for more than 2 seconds I get confused. Not the whole alien thing, that’s fine, it’s Badger and Maria and their ulterior motives. Why in the world did Badger spend millions of dollars to make a submarine that’s faulty on purpose? And there was so much media coverage around it so the second something went wrong reporters were practically beating him over the head with microphones, so why risk so much bad press? Plus sacrificing three other talented divers who trusted him with their lives??? That’s the most confusing to me. There’s no way Badger foresaw them getting attacked underwater and losing Declan alone, so he must have been fully prepared to lose captain AND crew. Holden said that he saw Badger as a father, and yet he chose Holden to die? He said he handpicked them, so what did Holden, Alia, or Iris ever do to him to deserve being sent on a suicide mission? Doing all this just to get rid of Declan and be with Maria doesn’t feel right. Feels like there should be something more there. Tldr: surely Badger had another reason for conducting the suicide mission, right? Also since season 2 starts with Lila all grown up, a diver just like her father, I wanna know her opinions of her mother and of Badger. Did she learn about her mother’s betrayal? Is Badger still involved in funding deep sea diving or did the FBI take him out of that? Omg who’s the father of her little sibling…I’m so curious…

I'm late at this but @ladyyatexel tagged me for a getting to know you game a while back.
Last Song: I think the last song I listened to voluntarily was an Enya song but I can't remember which one now! Cal and I were looking for less-typical holiday music because the usual fare is just not for us. My head has had a constant loop of various songs in it as usual though. Earlier this morning it was a bunch of Weird Al and related strangeness including old WTNV quotes I haven't thought about in ages. Not sure what my subconscious was up to. Suspicious.
Currently Watching: We started watching that new firefighter anime which is pretty good, but the last show we actually watched was a few episodes of Go Rush. It's so weird! Also streaming-without-paying the new Kenshin series because we love Kenshin.
Current Obsession: Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal is going strong which is really wild considering it's already been like 3 years since we first watched it. It's because we adopted some of the characters as our personal blorbos and are RPing with them… so many little stories we've played out already and this latest one has been developing for over a year o_o
I can't think of anything else that really qualifies as an obsession in my life lately… I'm very much enjoying learning more about native plants in my area and of course I take too many pictures of my cats and also this is the first time we had enough space and motivation to decorate seasonally so that's kind of awesome. Right now I'm just trying to survive online grad school and not let it impact my work performance too much or drive me mad. I really wanted to do NaNoWriMo this year to work on my fantasy novel but after two days I realized I would be seriously threatening my own mental health if I stuck to it so I gave it up for this year.
university has never been particularly good for my creative bandwidth, so I'm trying to give myself permission to not be particularly productive until I graduate, but it's still sad because I have stories to tell. I do. I just don't always have the energy or brainpower to tell them the way they deserve to be told.
Ah I don't wanna end on a low note so I should give the caveat that really I've been sustained by the Zexal rps Cal and I do, it's the first time in a while I've allowed myself to be super self indulgent in making ridiculous OCs and it's so much fun, I love our little barian monster babies so much. I need to draw them more.

Thoughts on Star Trek: The Original Series Pt. 2
Pt. 1
Pt. 3
Oh boy more of the mirror universe
I still wanna know how the Terrans are doing in the Prime Universe
Love that they immediately got arrested
Chekov is the one to try to assassinate Kirk?!
I thought for sure it would be Sulu… or Spock
Good to see Spock is, at least fundamentally, the same person in both universes
They’re cutting it real close
Ngl I thought Kirk was gonna try to hug Spock when they got back
Man, ya gotta love these episode titles!
‘Who Mourns for Adonais’ is just awesome!
Once again everyone conveniently forgets that the ship has shuttles
Yet another situation that doesn’t have to happen
Barely into the episode and already Apollo is claiming to do things that he can’t actually do
This is the second show I can think of off the top of my head that I’ve watched that has gone ‘the ancient gods? No, those guys were just aliens’
‘The thunderbolts that you throw around’ that he shouldn’t be able to throw around because he’s not Zeus
‘I’m not gonna hurt you’ he says after hurting the guy
Vaal reminds me of the tiger cave from Aladdin
Legit thought they were just gonna walk in and never come out
Didn’t expect them to just toss smth in and walk off
*Lieutenant desperately trying to figure out the most tactful and professional way to word her question while McSpirk all look mildly amused*
‘You’re the Science Officer, Spock, why don’t you tell her?’
The doctor’s right there, would he not be better for this?
Once again, the ending interaction between Bones and Spock (and this time Kirk) is hilarious
Every episode ends in Kirk and Bones teasing/jabbing at Spock and it’s always one of if not the best part
Oh look, it’s the Three Fates
That would be creepy if encountered in real life, but this is just funny
This whole thing has a very Edgar-Allan-Poe-ish vibe to it
The castle is the House of Usher
And the cat inside is Pluto from ‘The Black Cat’
‘Bones? Doc?’ Love how he immediately switched to ‘Doc’ when he saw the actual bones
The attempts to make the cat look huge are kinda funny too
Wait that’s what they actually look like?
Oh, boy it’s the return of Harcourt Fenton Mudd
And android co. apparently
Wat
I have no idea what i just watched
The thing with Uhura (love it when she gets involved in a mission)
The ‘celebration’ with the not-atcually-music and dance that sort of reminded me of the dance scene in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Scotty faking his death while everyone else is just whistling to imitate their phasers
That part was gold!
The explosives bit
And that fact that not a single android in that room questioned that Scotty just hopped back up like nothing had happened
The fact that they left Mudd with at least 500 android Stellas
No idea what I just watched but it was awesome
Oh look it’s Glow Cloud WTNV
Genuinely surprised that not a one of ‘em recognized the name Cochran yet
Oh of course it’s a female, I mean look at it! It’s curvy! It’s gotta be!
Like, seriously? Ur gonna try to apply human concepts of gender to a literal cloud of gas?!
The turn-around that Cochran does throughout the episode regarding the Companion and its love for him are just… *eyeroll*
And now we have the Gerudo in Star Trek
If those guys are 7ft then McSpirk are really tall
Geez, did Bones really need to be that aggressive?
Wait, Bones is the father? How?
Love how he tries to get Spock to hold the baby
Like, not Kirk, no, Spock must hold the baby
How are they both so good with a bow? Does Starfleet do training on that?
Bones never explained the whole ‘father’ situation
A body has been discovered!
Poor Chekov tho
And now everyone’s old
Scotty’s really pink
And so is Bones
My dad told me that old Kirk is not what William Shatner actually looks like and given that old Kirk is literally just Shatner with either some sort of powder in his hair or a wig on and nothing else I said ‘yeah, I figured’
‘Oh yes, I’ll live… but I won’t enjoy it’
That was awesome,
Sulu just sitting there listening to Chekov rant like that with a look of amusement
The smile Kirk gives Spock! The look on Kirk’s face!
More gas cloud creatures
Kirk’s having flashbacks
He really blames it all on himself, huh?
‘James Kirk has no character’ my a**! he clearly does! He’s kind, compassionate, obviously cares deeply for his friends and his crew, he has a lot of self-doubt and insecurity, and he frequently deals with that during the show!
He shouldn’t be punishing Garrickson like that
He’s projecting
Love that Spones are both super concerned about Kirk cuz they can tell something's up and it’s not just that the ensign hesitated and two men died
Aww, Kirk realized that he was projecting onto Garrickson and he reconciled it!
I really loved seeing that!
Ah, Sarek!
And she who is his wife
I see the Tellarites have change a bit as well
Shran dressed better
Oh boy, a murder mystery
I can see how Spock would be extremely annoyed with everyone aboard
Love the increasingly annoyed ‘Bones!’ from Kirk thruout that interaction
Oh boy another murder mystery!
And Scotty’s the prime suspect!?
No way he did it of his own will!
Who is Redjac?
Oh now Jack the Ripper’s a suspect?
They’re talking like Jack the Ripper can’t be here but Babylon 5 had to deal with him 10 years earlier
Should they give the crew sedatives that could calm an active volcano?
Sulu goes from wondering about a threat from the malfunction to being loopy and focusing on how the ‘malfunction’ is speaking
Scotty hasn’t changed much but Bones is loopy now and it’s pretty funny
Kirk’s really trying to convince Spock to go to wherever this place is just cus he doesn’t wanna go alone
Honestly I love the idea that Chekov and Uhura are besties!
Chekov’s just watching Uhura slightly freak out about how cute the Tribble is
Oh no not the Klingons
Ik that it was Leningrad in the 60s but the fact that Chekov’s calling it Leningrad that far in the future sorta implies that it never stopped switching between Leningrad and St. Petersburg
When and why did Chekov decide he was going to try to convince people that the universe was invented in Russia?
Love that Chekov’s ready to fight
Don’t the Klingons know better than to insult a ship in front of its chief engineer?
I mean, Trip woulda done the same thing that Scotty just did, even down to stopping another crew member from throwing hands
So. Many. Tribbles.
Kirk’s so done
Still loving the Spones banter
That’s… not what bisexual means, Bones
What’s up with the station now?
Ah, the Tribbles have gotten the grain
I feel like there was someone on the other side of that hole who was told to just, occasionally throw a Tribble thru and try their best to hit Shatner with it
Where’d the Tribbles go?
The station, maybe?
Even better than the station
I wonder what the Triskelion has to do with this?
Not cool, guys
Chekov ready to throw hands with any and everything/one that insults/threaten his friends
He tries to be angry but it doesn’t work very well
Ah, Ood brains
Is no one gonna mention the fact that Kirk had touched the blue like, 5 times?
So the Triskelion and nothing to do with anything?

5, 6, 8, and 40 for the music asks! -River
I am limiting myself to 3 options max for some of these bc fuck you I am Very Indecisive and also I ramble a lot so it's kinda long but anywAY-
5 (a song with sick drums): This was actually kinda hard for me bc I don't really pay attention to the drums in songs a lot whoops. But anyway- I really really like You're Gonna Go Far Kid by Offspring bc of the way the drums just drive the piece forward and maintain the momentum its going for. Drums that do that are some of my favourite kinds of drums >:D
6 (a song whose bridge takes you out): YOU MEAN I GOTTA PICK?? FUCK. OK. Ok ok ok so first, You Will Believe, specifically the version by CG5 and DAGames has a bridge that just. its just so GOOD it's so eerie and spooky (and if you know me you know I can't resist a slow building crescendo in a minor key. I just can't.). Also,,,yeah no The Fall by Lovejoy it just. Listen. Listen I know it's the popular favourite but it's SO GOOD and YES THE BRIDGE IS MY FAVOURITE PART ok LEAVE ME ALONE- And last but not least I'm just gonna put Lone Digger by Caravan Palace here. And I'll just. Leave it at that.
7 (a song you love in a time signature that isn't 4/4): Thunderbird by C418! I am,,,90% sure it's in 6/8? (Which tbh? Best complex time signature imo I really enjoy it) But either way the song is REALLY good. You might sit there and think "13 minutes seems really long for one song,,," but you are incorrect it is a perfectly reasonable length especially for this one specifically.
8 (a song with a killer bass line): C418 FIGURE 8 HANDS DOWN. It was the first song I heard from Excursions and it’s still one of my favs! And now that I'm thinking about it actually everyone should just go and listen to all of Excursions. Do it. It's C418 I promise you will not be disappointed.
40 (a song you just really wanna talk about): OHOHO OH BOY. Well. First of all I need to yell about one of my favourite WTNV Weathers: Absentee by Jack Campbell. I've always had a soft spot for songs that go for this sort of almost casual, laidback energy and I think this one is my favourite example (also it just so happens to be another contender for "bridge that takes me out" what a surprise). I also wanna shout out Life Itself by Glass Animals for being a song I can listen to on repeat and not get tired of! That's when you know it's Good good. And now I am going to Stop because I do not want to make this any longer KJLGKHJ

7, 8, 10, 12 (😏), 16, 17, 21, 22, 25, 27 (😏), 33, 36, 41, 43
sorry for so many!! i love you! 💗💗
this is so many I had to answer them all in a note on my phone before I posted it god damn
7: Have tattoos?
yes I have 6 technically! two on my hands, three on my forearms and one on my back 😎
8: Want any tattoos?
many many many more, I want my next one to be the WTNV one I've had planned for a while
10: Want any piercings?
yes! my last one healed up while I was in surgery because I had to take it out 😔. piercing pain is worse for me than tattoo pain so it might be a while until I get a next one.
12: Relationship status
taken and you of all people should know this
16: I’ll love you if
I try to hold love in my heart for everything! I love when people show kindness and joy, but you specifically I would love unconditionally ❤️
17: Someone you miss
much to think about... I miss you and I miss my brother often as well
21: What I love most about myself
I love my childlike enthusiasm! and my enthusiasm for knowledge and to learn new things!
22: What I want to be when I get older
uhhh to be stable I think is a good overarching goal. emotionally, mentally, financially. If I were to get a bit more unrealistic maybe fulfilled.
25: My idea of a perfect date
a nice meal is a must, with good conversation, maybe a movie but mostly I just enjoy quality time and I feel pretty strongly that screens take away from that
27: A description of the girl/boy I like
brown curly hair and brown eyes uhh perfect body that I love to hug and cuddle and as mamma mia would say dot dot dot...
33: What words make me feel the best about myself
I don't really know? what this question means but also really what my answer would be if I fully understood it. I like words of affirmation? and having my efforts acknowledged
36: Where I would like to live
anywhere that makes my wife happy! I really like the srea I'm in right now (not necessarily the city but the half of the state (I don't really wanna cross those mountains)) but anywhere that has nature and greenery! I loved Dublin too I could thrive in Dublin I think (guy who hasn't looked into cost of living and is also trans which doesn't seem to go over awesome across the pond access to care-wise)
41: Where I want to be right now
right where I am but not sick ideally
43: Sexiest person that comes to my mind immediately
my wife!

Oh you listen to TMA?, well would you recommend it?
i did listen :D!! not much anymore haha but i was real into it back in like 2020 (: and well . that is a VERY layered question bc i have very mixed feelings about tma as a podcast sorry anon im sure u were hoping for a cut and dry yes or no but alas .... i ramble
so basically short answer is that if you want to get into non-dnd fiction podcasts and be an active member of fandom for them i would highly recommend you listen to tma not even out of tmas own original quality but just because its So popular and its made Such an impact on the fiction podcast landscape . i would recommend wtnv for a similar reason but also just because wtnv is just great and a wonderful listen (and my special interest lol) - SOOO many people around you are gonna be referencing tma and referencing the entities and listening to at leaset a good chunk of it at least once will make your experience in the fiction podcast fanbse more enjoyable because when people say stuff like . idk "sydney would be a corruption avatar" youll understand wtf theyre saying . so just on a very functional level id recommend you listen to it just so you understand the references that people around you make (:
whether i would recommend tma based on its own merits is .... more complicated . because tma is one of those pieces of media where the good attributes are REALLY INCREDIBLY GOOD and the bad attributes are very noticeable, and some of those can even be the same thing - for example, while ive had many in depth discussions about how poorly implemented i think the entities system is and how frustrating it is that theyre so poorly balanced throughotu all the episodes, i still think its one of the most genius pieces of world lore ive seen and does an AMAZING job at accurately encapsulating every single fear you could think of.
so basically, while i would recommend tma both because it has some VERY amazing aspects and because it had such an Impact on fiction podcasts that itll be tricky to avoid it if u wanna keep getting into narrative podcasts, i would recommend you examine it critically while you do so. like by all means have fun its GREAT the horrors creepy its popular for a reason!! but also make sure youre able to examine the writing flaws, both the ones that are just writing issues (like the pacing problems) and the ones that probably come to mind more when you think of "examining media critically" (like the narratives Very odd relationship to the police) . basically i would recommend checking it out and i think its very likely youd enjoy it but dont get too attached to it that you cant handle valid criticism because there is a LOT of valid criticism to be made
also ive heard stuff about ethics issues with the production company itself, im not really caught up on which parts of that are real and what the accepted appropriate ways to handle it are (like i said im not actively keeping up with tma anymore so i dont really know much about the good or the bad rn), but basically i wouldnt contribute to the the magnus protocol kickstarter (its got enough money as it is) and would instead support your favorite smaller podcasts instead (: theres loads to support if u wanna support a podcast financially!! blue mayfield (creator of camp here and there) in particular is struggling quite a bit, thats a good place to support (:
but again to wrap it all around this isnt a post dissuading you from listening i WOULD suggest you listen to it to understand what other people say about it in podcast spaces as well as because it genuinely has some really good creepy episodes and strong compelling characters w interesting dynamics and some really good examinations into themes like what it means to be human or the nature of fear and where it comes from . its definitely an enjoyable listen and one id recommend listening to at least once to anyone who wants to get into fiction podcasts and interact with the fanbase in any way!! i loved it in 2020 and i still adore many of the characters now (: i just have a lot of emotions about it lol im sure this is a way longer and more convoluted answer than you were hoping for whoops </3

Last song: Despite What You've Been Told by Two Gallants (unrelated to wtnv resurgence, it is one of the handful of songs i keep on my phone to sing in the car)
('my child is fine' your child is yelling 'THAT'S HOW WE DEAL WITH BOYS LIKE ME' on the way to and from every other shift)
Last show: (does last mean completed as opposed to currently watching?) we'll count Only Murders in the Building, which was kind of a lot but also really fun
Last movie: just got to seeing Knives Out, wasn't sure how it would go bc a number of my tumblr-endorsed media forays have been hit-or-miss but pleased to report that i enjoyed the hell out of it
Currently watching: not much for shows lately bc the sibling likes to put together educational youtube queues for us, but we've still got Drag Race Italia on the go
Currently reading: apart from updates from my friend Ishmael I just finished Captain Alatriste by Arturo Perez-Reverte which, intriguing premise but kinda disappointing execution. 4/10 it seemed very strong on the history angle but kind of a flat perspective and not very good at being a story.
Current obsession: hehe Penumbra go brrr for two and a half years by now
if you're seeing this have at it if you wanna!

Now, I know the entire point of podcasts is that they're made for audio... but have you considered subtitles...

okay so my constant derealisation is a reasonably effective coping mechanism so you know, I'm glad to have it in that way, but on the other hand it makes listening to wtnv like. The Worst Thing I Could Possibly Do To My Mental Health which fucking sucks bcus I LOVE it

Mmk so here’s my too long intro bio whatever you wanna call it thing
So first things first: If you are here the be a hateful person, obviously fix that of course, but also please leave :)
Also, this doesn’t really apply to the last thing but if you’re gonna ship real people can you please do it somewhere else. I’m all for fictional characters, but know I will never ship real people for reasons I don’t think I need to explain, and like, you do you but do you elsewhere in regards to this.
With that being said, hello! Here are some things I talk about a lot I guess
Musicals:
Newises (yes both versions I know a scary amount of information about both casts)
Hamilton
Les mis
Does avpm count? Like any starkid stuff
Six
Falsettos
Moulin Rouge
There’s more stuff but this is it mainly
Books and graphic novels:
The maze runner
I love let the sky fall but I need to meet more people who have read it so I don’t really post about it too often
Dorothy must die and same thing more people need to read it
The outsiders
Heartstopper
The companion (please read it please)
Sometimes lotr but more the movie
Again probably more but these are my favorites
Tv shows and movies:
The outsiders
Merlin
Young royals
And I don’t care what anyone says Sofia the first will always be amazing no matter my age
Teen wolf
The hardy boys (hear me out it’s on Hulu it’s really good)
I feel like I have to include this- the Lucy show for reasons
Benjamin (idk I posted about it like once and don’t have the heart to take it off now)
I’m not okay with this (I’m still bitter that it got canceled)
And also teotfw
Dead poets society
Supernatural
Lotr
Once again probably more but this list will probably change again
PODCASTS:
Malevolent <33 mostly
Wtnv sometimes
Tma sometimes also
WOE.BEGONE
And other things will get sprinkled in here and there as well
-
I like to draw and write (what you know so they say all I know is I don’t know what to write or the right way to write it) and do crafts and stuff
I love music (I literally went to the hella mega tour in July I think of 2021 and I still don’t know what to do now because that was like one of the most amazing things ever) anyways I like Green Day, fall out boy, blink 182, Arctic monkeys, muse, Palaye Royale, and paramore. I also really like rob Thomas/matchbox 20, Billy Joel, queen, the Beatles are literally geniuses, and I wish more people loved bowling for soup because they are amazing. i also love idkhow and waterparks, and Dorothy (in case you want to look it up it will come up as Dorothy Martin band I think) and if you’re looking for a funky tumblr band go look for bears in trees
Anyway this is getting long so enjoy my blog if you’re still here :)
(Ps if you ever need to talk to someone or just vent about something you can message me privately and I won’t respond or try to offer advice unless you want me to, sometimes it’s just nice just to have someone listen)

I've wanted to listen to hfthw but the first episodes storytelling style made me feel uncomfy/weird. does it change or improve? or would I have to get used to the audio book storytelling style? (iirc. my 1st attempt was 2 mos ago) I like tma and wtnvs style but smth abt hfthw's bothers me which SUCKS cause I wanna be involved too. are there transcripts, maybe? 🥺
it’s mostly that audiobook format! sometimes there are guest stars that have back and fourth with other characters, but it’s mostly nikignik narrating. i found that jarring at first too, but i got used to it pretty quickly/grew to enjoy it
the episode transcripts can be found here!

⭐star⭐, please! Ur fanfics are a bless! 💛💛
Thanks, kanene! 💕🥰 Your interactions are a bless!!! And thanks for the ask! Author's choice it is!
In the same vein as the last ask, I'm picking one of my partner's favorite pieces of mine to talk about 🥰
Eyes Only For You was a piece I wrote for Tickletober last year, and I really liked it. This is one I come back to a lot.
When I write, I try to hold onto certain images or phrases to carry through a piece. I don't know if that makes sense exactly, but I say it to give context to the fact that this piece has a focus on eyes, when it originally had a focus on ears, based on the snippet that Carlos likes when Cecil strokes his ears. You can imagine where my mind went after hearing that 😋
My partner and I talk a lot about the media we like, so a lot of my ideas come from her, and one of our conversations came to the conclusion that: Cecil has multiple eyes (which is insinuated by the show itself) and that those eyes are in the forms of tattoos that move. I loved the idea so much that I ran with it. (I have an upcoming WTNV fic in the works, also based on conversations with my partner, that we're both excited about. If anyone has any songs we could use for the weather, I'd love to hear them 😁)
The hardest part of this fic was writing choreography, which always happens when extra limbs make an appearance. I'm never sure if I'm being clear.
The part of this fic I most enjoyed was the subtle fantasy elements. Like, I love how weird WTNV is and how that weirdness is normal for the people that live in that world and for us as listeners the longer we listen. So Cecil having this part of him that would be so magical that is just as normal as having an arm or a nose was a very fun thing to write. ☺️
~*~
Wanna read the fic I discussed here? Do it!
Want to hear me talk about the behind the scenes of another fic of mine? You can do that, too!
