one thing i really like so far about s6 - and maybe it’s too early to be saying this is a pattern - is the way that each episode has sort of honed in on one character specifically while giving hints to other characters’ future storylines as the backdrop. like, 6x01 was very much maddie’s episode with her returning to dispatch properly and her reconciling with chim. and 6x02 was obviously hen’s storyline with her two career paths finally crashing into each other and forcing her to reevaluate her life. based on bts info, interviews and promos it seems like 6x03 will be athena’s episode and 6x04 will be buck’s

and y’know, i think the show did a great job in 5b of pulling the focus back to the characters and consolidating the sense of family between the 118 after the disjointedness of 5a. and in doing that we for sure got some of the strongest character development we’ve seen from the show in a Long time (particularly in relation to eddie and bobby) and personally i just love that that seems to be continuing???? like, i’m actually really happy with the decision not to do an opening disaster and to use the emergencies to support the character storylines instead of the other way around??

again, it’s still v early days and things can definitely change but the way everything’s being set up right now has me so excited for every character’s storyline this season
