the targaryens were built to burn themselves down and thats why i truly believe if Dany does take the throne in the end of asoiaf it should be without her dragons. the targaryens are conquerors. their house words are 'fire and blood'. those are not the words of a peaceful ruling house.
'we light the way' 'winter is coming' 'unbowed. unbent. unbroken.' these house words speak to longevity, not war. its why i'll never be a fan of the idea of a targaryen on the throne, no matter who it is. the most intelligent thing viserys probably ever said was 'dragons are a power men should never have trifled with'. you cannot rule peacefully if you're constantly threatening your people with fire from above.

unpopular opinion but daenerys always had villain potential she was so self obsessed even in the beginning I mean wtf was that title “mother of dragons breaker of chains blah blah blah” it was so long like how conceited must u be to have a long ass title like that she was the opposite of humble and loved validation from the masses nothing made her face light up more than when ppl were cheering for her or when she could get up in front of a crowd and make a speech the second the masses stopped giving her validation aka when she got to westeros she turned cold and evil bcs she feeds off of validation she was always power hungry and loved shoving the fact that she had dragons and a huge army in everyone’s face she was cold to so many ppl and showed them no mercy and yes they were evil horrible ppl but in the end a “good” person would show a bit of mercy i’m not a jon stan by any means but jon wouldn’t have done the thing daenerys did pre-westeros and def not the things she did in westeros daario was right dany would’ve been a perfect conqueror but she was too power hungry to be a ruler it was only a matter of time before she became a mad queen it was obvious from the beginning and her egotisticalness and obsession with praise from her “subjects” is what made it so difficult for me to become a fan of hers from the get go ik im gonna get hate for this but dany was never a “good” and “moral” character this isn’t me hating on her this is just my opinion im not a fan of hers but not a hater either and ik the book dany stans are gonna get pissed but yall need to realize what’s canon in the book isn’t always canon in the show and show watchers are entitled to their own opinions on the characters we judge based off of what we see we haven’t read the books so it’s totally valid for us to dislike dany in the end she was a villain so fair enough ?

im mostly (mOSTLY) over how genuinely god-awful that ending was, but my god am i STILL angry about how historia was just thrown to the side to make room for m-kasa. like, up until s4 historia was probably THE best-written female character i'd ever come across, and to this day she still holds up incredibly well, but then season 4 and beyond came along and is-yama was just suddenly like "ACTUALLY SCRATCH ALL THAT LETS MAKE THE ENTIRE SERIES ABOUT MIKASA" and im gonna be real it boils my blood lmao. her story was and is incredible (i still think about it and get legitimately emotional), and it just felt so intriguing and made me root for her harder than any other character in the series, which is not something i can say m-kasa ever did for me tbfh.
side note, have u encountered the m-kasa stans who'll swear that we 'only like historia because shes a cute little blonde and hate strong women' cause my GOD how stupid is that statement? (not to mention in my oh-so-humble opinion historia is a hundred times stronger than m-kasa lmao-). i have never met a group of people so deluded and hateful as erem-kas and m-kasa stans, point-blank. and i did a stint in the v-ltron fandom lmao. i'd say aot was a mistake but it gave us historia reiss so at least theres that.
Yup, my thoughts, also. Historia had such a powerful developement, but it all went straight into the bin as the plot progressed. Mikasa, on the other hand, had a lot of potential, but no developement whatsoever. Both characters were wasted in the end - neither of them had a satisfying conclusion, and instead, felt plastic to me in the finale.
Historia was my favorite character from SnK too, so I understand your feelings :,DD As a huge Dany fan, I understand it even more - but hey, Daenerys at least still has a chance for a satisfying ending in the final book, while for Historia, it just is what it is....and that's just disappointing. Same with Mikasa, really. I rooted for her so much, too.
And yes, the amount of cringy attacks I read online is pretty much immeasurable. Unfortunately, that's what happens when people build their entire personality and self-esteem over fictional characters.

What do you think has been the worst Dawn of X book so far
90% have bad qualities but i think johnathan hickman’s x-men takes the cake
x-men: no plot. its been over a year and there is NO plot. we’ve had huge ideas introduced then never touched on or followed up on since ie: laura synch and darwin stuck in the vault, scott and kurt discussing if they are who they really are or just are soulless clones, the child murder cult rituals, kurt starting a new religion, mystique burning down krakoa. plot concepts are introduced then its like “ok onto some nonsense” instead of following up or even hinting or touching on them ever again. the concept of vulcan living with the summers is bizarre since most hate him and wouldnt forgive him out of nowhere --they’re all soooooo out of character it drives me nuts. everything about this book is vague and non conclusive. its annoying at this point.
how in the world is this your flagship title??????????
though im also not super a fan of:
x-force: boring. the concept introduced that resurrection on krakoa is fucked and messes with your mind (aka domino’s plot) is interesting but its not really touched on. watching cecilia reyes brutally get murdered then everyone going “who cares we’ll bring her back” was also not fun for me. quentin/phoebe...percy deserves jail time for that asdjnfmk. also the jogan scene and confirming jogan are in fact, together, was awful.
x-factor: its....only just started so i feel bad disliking it but lorna and akihiro are bizarrely out of character. so its...not been my fave. though i appreciate FINALLY having explicitly gay characters in a dox title and that they can openly say “yes im bi”
excalibur: this is so boring. i saw “incursions” get introduced and rolled my eyes so hard i was like ok here’s the “new avengers 2013″ plotline we’re stealing this week. also wtf is up with betsy and why is she so boring now?? she’s so out of character. remy is....boring and so is rogue. rictor im worried about but breaking up ricstar off panel earned some ire from me </3
new mutants: what is this book even about anymore. im still sad we have a NEW MUTANTS BOOK and dani and karma have been untouched. use them.
cable: FUCK if there was a runner up fr worst book it’d be cable. jail time for duggan for writing cable as the worst character ive ever read. and also having scotts kid date emma’s kids and he said he “knows what he’s doing” and im like???? but scott/emma have been hinting to maybe be dating rn so unless you want me to think this is a weird cult, you’re not succeeding at whatever u set out to do, bro.
marauders: the repeated antisemitism jewish fans have pointed out is BAD and alone earns my ire. but also ignoring storm has been so lame. its just so.....cringe. this book is cringe 24/7. i want freedom from it.
wolverine: boring. and for ben percy who claims to be such a big logan fan why does he write him so terribly ahsjdnfm. his speech patterns, inflictions are all wrong. not to mention the canon facts about this dude that are just wrong constantly in this title.

My Reaction to GoT 8.03 (”The Long Night”)
Hello! I’m back for another recap/review!
I’m so sorry this took so long, but I was a bit… uninspired. But it’s here now, and I hope you enjoy!
Once again, featuring running commentary from my Dad and Brother because I love them and their witty remarks. (all thoughts and quotes are from our first time viewing it, per usual)
WARNING: Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t seen the episode yet, though this warning might be irrelevant at this point.
WARNING 2: My family and I (namely me) weren’t really fans of this episode, so things get… pretty snarky at some points. Also, there’s a lot of shade - no pun intended - thrown at the lighting throughout. A lot. All these are just the opinions of three people, however, and not meant to offend anyone. If you enjoyed the episode, then lucky you more power to you - you do you! :)
And last, but certainly not least, a huge thank you to everyone who supported the first two installments! Now, time for part three!
So… the new opening credits still haven’t grown on me. But the inclusion of the crypt for this episode is a nice touch
(I have a sinking feeling that taking refuge in the crypts is going to backfire for those hiding there and really hope I’m wrong)

Awwww. My children! D&D, don’t you dare kill off Jaime, Brienne, or Pod. I will find you if you do!!! And no CGI dragons will be able to save you!
(I’m super worried about Pod. He’s right up there at the top of my list with Theon and Grey Worm. And possibly Jorah, but I’m 50/50 with him)
(Maybe 60/40; if Dark!Dany’s a possibility, she needs to suffer a huge loss in this battle. And considering Jorah’s her morality pet/conscience, he would fit the bill)
(basically if Jorah dies this episode, then my confidence in the show going the Dark!Dany route rises)
Tormund! I’m guessing you’ll live. The writers need some fan favorite B characters to make it through the night…
Ooh, Beric. Yeah… you’re probably not one of them…
And the Hound will be needed for Cleganebowl, so he’s safe. No way they’re writing off the guy with all the hype surrounding him and his bro’s one-on-one
Actually, he’s one of the few people I’m absolutely sure will live past this episode

Darn it, knowing I’m never going to see some of these characters again is making me emotional. And it’s not even ten minutes into the episode!!!

Grey Worm putting on his helmet is somehow one of the best parts in this episode so far. And I don’t think that’s a good thing

I will forever hate Jonerys, but Ramin Djawadi always knocks it out of the park with his score - even with their theme.
I wonder if he’ll have anything new to present for this episode…
Jon’s gotten a lot better at riding Rhaegal. That could be very useful in upcoming conflicts… *grins wickedly*
Lovely, now Jon’s stuck in a snowstorm. *sighs* Really, I give him one compliment…

And it’s times like these, when Tyrion touts his own greatness, that I remember he’s much more like Tywin than I’d care to acknowledge
Yes, Tyrion. You would make all the difference out there in the battle. When not even your swordsman brother should, logically-speaking, be near it, given his one hand situation. But, sure. You keep on thinking that.

I really do enjoy her and Tyrion’s chemistry. And it’s actually nice to take a bit of a break from the battle
Oh, look at that. Sansa and Dany aren’t besties after their talk last episode after all. Odd, I could’ve sworn some stans said they were

Gee, I love you, Missandei, but that comment was totally uncalled for. They weren’t even talking to you

*sighs* I really hate brainwashed Missandei. But I’m sure Dany’s stans will find a woman of color being blindly devoted to a white woman totally empowering
(And, before anyone bashes me, I’m speaking as someone who’s got the blood of all walks of minorities in my veins)
Ad back to Theon and Bran. Are they actually going to do something this time?

So, Bran’s “home” quote was said to Theon. Odd, and here I thought he was supposed to have said it to Dany… oh, well

I don’t even care anymore, just let the poor guy be useful in this battle somehow
So… when the army of animated corpses have better battle plans than your armies, exactly how screwed are you?
Jorah ushering Sam to the walls is actually really heartwarming
As is surrogate dad Jaime checking on his adopted son Pod en route to their battle stations
…… Jon has been sitting on the walls of Winterfell for who knows how long doing absolutely zilch. Not burning wights, not guarding Bran, not even brooding. And I’m ticked about it
What the heck, D&D? I thought you loved CGI dragon stuff
Well, finally. Yes, go fight the head popsicle, even if you don’t kill him. Go, my boy, and redeem yourself
The J-B-P Family Trio dynamic is my favorite thing in this episode thus far. Fight me

Really, the lighting on this episode looks like the contrast effect I add to my Sony Vegas-made AMVs before filtering the colors

so you dont care for dany or you straight up dont like her. and if you choose to answer, can you explain why ? also, if you think this will start discourse, than just ignore. Im just curious, and love talking GOT so
Nah I don’t think this will start discourse, most people already are not fans of Dany at the moment (of what I’ve seen) or at least her portrayal in the show and I don’t blame them. This is sorely on the writing of the show, because the books are totally different in that regard and I think that’s a huge pity.
But just sticking to the show... yeah dany hasn’t grown really since season 1, yeah she has come far and she cared so much about saving slaves and that’s awesome, but as a whole her character hasn’t developed much from savior and ruler and I’m a Targaryen so you should bow to me just because... her worldview is just so narrow, it seems like she doesn’t understand.
If we’re gonna compare her with another ruler who has grown and changed and learned so much, Sansa, like I would take Sansa anyday. ALLTHOUGH, I still didn’t like her until this season because God last season was terrible writing and totally dumbed down Littlefinger so that she could look like a total badass... (God last season was just horrible) but it STILL is believable because I think she’s been though worse and still managed to survive and learn. Get a broader aspect of how exactly the world works. We see more development in Sansa throughout all the show than Dany.
So anyways, yeah I don’t care about her... I’m so tired of her all high and mighty attitude, bow to me or die, I’m the ruler period, specially last season?? Like all the charisma she had in the 3rd season at least was somewhat noble but now?? meh. And that GOD AWFULL “romance” she has with Jon, like NOPE. the cringe is strong. I mean I understand that the writing in the show has just dumbed down to pure action cringe to me and I no longer care. I mostly just watch out of curiosity to see how else are they going to ruin these characters (Jamie, Cersei, Tyrion, Littlefinger, Euron, Arya) and get it over with.
But now in regards of Game of Thrones... I’m mostly here for the memes now.

what do you think people miss all the time in the books? I mean like an important plot point that people may not get, or focus on the wrong things to make sense out of things? Im really trying to word this in a way it doesnt sound stupid lol. I know lots of times people skip over things because the characters skip over things but yknow, just wondering if you ever noticed a pattern with the fans overlooking things, thanks!
There’s a lot of things people miss, but I think they can best be divided up into four categories:
character elements (often missed because of bias)
little details
secret but huge story elements
themes
Character elements that people miss, often because of prior bias, include things like the intelligence of Sansa and Catelyn, or the importance of Brienne’s arc in AFFC. (I’ve seen people who admitted to skimming/skipping over their chapters then say those chapters are “boring” or that “nothing ever happens in them”. If you didn’t read them, how the hell would you know?) Other biases affecting reading includes the Stark filter, or the Tyrion-is-the-only-good-Lannister filter, or sexist bias against Dany, and so on. (That last is particularly egregious, where you have people theorizing that Drogon is the Stallion who Mounts the World, or that Victarion is Azor Ahai/TPTWP, of all people, anyone but Dany.) There’s also the stan-defense bias (for characters unfairly slighted by fandom and/or the show) that ends with them missing other characters’ qualities. (I recently had an argument with someone on twitter who claimed Stannis was the only king candidate who wants to do justice. Uh huh.)
As for little details, I list a bunch of commonly missed ones here. Other little things include the fact that Princess Rhaenys Targaryen’s black kitten grew up to be the mean black one-eared tomcat that Arya chases through the Red Keep. And things like the fact that Arya and company miss Jaime and Brienne at the Inn of the Kneeling Man by like a day or less. Many of these little details have become more known because of social media and forums, so they’re not quite so overlooked these days, but they can still blow people’s minds when they’re pointed out. I’ve occasionally debated doing a “ASOIAF - did you know” series of posts, just to detail these details. :)
Secret but huge story elements that often get overlooked include such things as R+L=J and the fact that Aegon is a Blackfyre. Also, the post that prompted that little details list was regarding the fact that the Alchemist that Pate encounters in the AFFC prologue is a Faceless Man, and is the Pate the Sam meets in his last chapter (as Pate is murdered in the prologue), and that Faceless Man is the one formerly known as Jaqen H’ghar, and he was the one who killed Balon Greyjoy too. (And that when not-Jaqen, he doesn’t talk like Jaqen does, that’s a Lorathi thing.) Which is a pretty huge story element that many people overlook! But again, social media and forums have made these things far more known among people who missed them while reading, not to mention the show (for R+L=J in particular)… Still, there’s probably fans of the books who never look at the internet and avoid all show things (few and far between these days but nevertheless), who are going to get totally blown away when these plot points are fully revealed in the end.
(Also, don’t forget GRRM’s Chekhov’s guns, some of which may be little details and some of which may be huge story elements, we’ll just have to see what happens when they’re fired.)
Themes – oh, there’s too much to go into about the themes of the books that people overlook. GRRM being anti-war is a big one, often overshadowed by the fact that the books are about war. (But it’s not meant to be glorified, even if sometimes it is glorious and thrilling.) For more info, you can check my ASOIAF themes tag, or over on @asoiafuniversity under themes.

Hello, Im a huge fan for your posts. I was wondering , do you think that the rock could survive a siege attack with dragons, and an army(a la Danny at full power(with all of her forces or aegon). And how do you thing a lord of the rock might prepare for something like that, like I think increased ventilation tunnels and moving into the mines. Basically Casterly Rock vs dragons how would it go down.
Visenya seemed to think the Rock could survive such an attack, and I think she would know:
Visenya Targaryen, upon seeing it, thanked the gods that King Loren rode forth to face her brother Aegon on the Field of Fire, for if he had remained within the Rock, even dragonflame would not have daunted him.
Basically House Lannister is going to play an elaborate game of Rock-Paper-Scissors in the books: dragons beat field armies, Rock beats dragons, sewer system beats Rock.
I don’t think the Rock needs to do much to prepare for a siege by dragon, as long as people aren’t outside on one of the balconies or enjoying one of the gardens or something. For example, Cersei remembers that her childhood bedroom was deep within the Rock (AFFC) and Oberyn recalls a guestroom that was luxurious yet windowless.
Obviously I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that your location on an xyz-coordinate system in the Rock depends on your rank, with higher ranking people closer to (0,0,0), a point I would define as the approximate center of mass of Casterly Rock as depicted by Ted Nasmith. So I don’t think moving into the mines would be necessary, although the Lannisters might be required to sacrifice an exterior ballroom or two. I believe the Rock is designed like ... I don’t know the proper terminology, but I think you can lose one area to the enemy and seal it off and fall back to another level and start defending that. (Maybe @warsofasoiaf can help me out here?) But anyways, I think that you can seal off quite a lot of areas to avoid any dragonfire.
I believe the Rock already has sufficient ventilation shafts and mirrors that capture and redistribute light from the surface. Also, because the Rock is said to be the best-defended castle in Westeros (TWOIAF), I assume there are mounted ballistae that, with a little tinkering, could be adapted to fire into the air instead of toward a ground enemy below.
The biggest problem would be supplies, and I think the Rock would have, like, at least a year of supplies on hand, including animals to be slaughtered as needed as they would do in any Westerosi winter. And those mirrored shafts I suggested may allow things like limited agriculture or w/e.
And in the meantime, you have to keep your dragons and armies supplied with a lot of food to sustain the siege for months and months, so Dany would have to take a lot of food and livestock from all the smallfolk of the Westerlands, which isn’t something that she would really want to do in the books. (I don’t think it was something Aegon the Conqueror really wanted to do either. Smallfolk don’t like you if you take all their food.) I think basically the attackers would run out of supplies long before the defenders.
So, I think the Lannisters are set, I think the point of Casterly Rock is that it can’t fall by siege (even with dragons), I think the point is that you have to have someone on the inside betray you. Like, you have to have someone hold a knife to your beloved heir’s throat or you have to have someone poison the water supply or you have to have someone on the inside light all your food supplies on fire or something. So really, if I were in charge of Casterly Rock while trying to prepare for a siege, loyalty is what I would be worried about...
...which is also the point GRRM is trying to make btw: “she taught me never to trust anyone but Jaime.” Cersei believes that Jaime is the only person she can trust, she believes him to be loyal to her and never suspects that he will snap and strangle her as the valonqar. which...i mean... if you were Cersei, would you really believe that Jaime is the enemy to worry about ... when the armies of the daughter of the Mad King are at the gates? It’s not like Cersei will believe that the Kingslayer can defect.... very sad.

Unpopular opinion: im so done with game of thrones tbh. It's not even good anymore :/ I liked the first season but since then i've skipped through episodes because they are just sooo fucking boring and dragged out!
see like the first three seasons were pretty good because they stayed true to the books. (actually that’s a lie, littlefinger’s chaos speech in the s3 finale was real fuckin bad because guess what: it was original material LMAO) the fourth season was where it started to get messy and then the fifth season was a fucking shitshow because they completely IGNORED the fourth book and cherrypicked all the “good” parts out of it (read: the most action-y parts, while ignoring all the most important pieces of character development) and they botched the dorne storyline, oh and who could forget the iconic moment of throwing in a rape (THAT DIDN’T HAPPEN IN THE BOOKS) just for fun :) love it!
but anyway if you think the show is boring i probably wouldn’t recommend the books, they’re even slower getting through them lmao. but it’s worth it in my opinion. there’s so much they don’t include in the show and it makes me Angery

I have panic attacks when I go outside and I wanted to look into alternative stuff since I'm on meds and w/e. I wanted to know if you or friends had any experience or recommendations for buying crystals online like on etsy or amazon. How can you tell if they're real?x
ooooh ok. usually there are shops like those in cities or even in towns with like kitschy little promenades with independent shops. (i know there’s one around the town over from mine, which is so random lmao) i do have friends that have crystals but i think they mostly just collect them for the ~good vibez~ and don’t really look too far into the healing aspects of them. i would say first go with the one that coincides with your birth because those are the ones that are like specifically catered to you and strengthen your being. as for buying online, hmmmmm i mean i don’t really know any specific trustworthy sellers because i don’t have much experience with this, but definitely read the reviews! those will help you a lot <3

i honestly didn’t do much of anything that differs from my usual editing process! i made her eyes a bit bigger by using the clone tool, cloning the top of her eye and applying it a little bit farther up...if that makes sense. it’s hard to explain how to use that tool lmao. and i think i used the liquify tool to bring part of her eyebrow down to look more worried.

1. What do you identify as and what are your pronouns?
I identify as a panromantic grey-asexual and genderqueer! I am fine with all pronouns, but most people tend to use she/her/hers because I’m AFAB and pass as a girl.
16. Who is your favourite lgbt+ Icon/Advocate/Celebrity?
This is a hard one because there are so many great ones! I know a lot of people think she’s cliche but I’m a huge halsey fan and think she’s a great bi, mixed race, neurodivergent feminist icon and her music is great to write to. Also they aren’t super well known but my absolute favorite book (the Havemercy series, sorry aftg I still love you!) was written by @jonesandbennett who are two kick-ass babes, Jaida Jones who is non-binary and uses they/them and their wife Dani Bennett who uses she/hers and recently beat cancer like an absolute boss! They’re amazing writers, I wish I had their talent, and their love for each other sustains me.
Other LGBT+ heroes of mine: Laverne Cox, Sydnee McElroy, Janelle Monae, Taliesin Jaffe, and I’m sure as soon as I post this I’m gonna kick myself remembering a million more I forgot.
25. Are you interested in having children? Why or why not?
Definitely not biological children. I was never really interested in having kids first off because I don’t especially enjoy being around small children. I think I do okay interacting with them, like people tell me I’m good with kids, but a lot of that is because I experienced a lot of abusive and toxic parenting from my dad and I’m really conscious of making sure that even if I’m annoyed or tired of being around a kid, I don’t make the kid feel like it’s their fault, y’know? But in general I don’t understand what goes through the minds of little kids or pick up their social cues very well, so I might be an okay babysitter, but I wouldn’t want to saddle a kid with me as their parent. And also little kids tend to be very energetic and loud and so as someone with chronic migraine and fatigue, being around young children can be a struggle.
I also don’t want to be pregnant. I already have a lot of hormonal, mental, and general health issues that would be exacerbated by pregnancy not to mention the gender dysphoria thing.
So right now I don’t foresee myself having kids, but if I ever changed my mind I would want to foster. I’ve dealt with the system firsthand (my nephew was taken away from my step-sister and became my foster brother when I was in high school, + a few family friends who have also had problems with the system, + studying abuse in the system in college) and know the damage it can do, so I would rather take a child out of that situation by adopting than have a baby myself. Also, I am much better at relating to kids pre-teen and up, which is a bonus since older kids are less likely to get adopted anyways.
