I’m glad we’re all thinking the same thing on Plus and Minus right now. Which is whyyyyyy????
There better be some very important reason for this, Li Gong. We’ve all suffered enough.
But not me going from “yes Nikita, keep Li Gong from compounding his mistake!” to “no Nikita, he literally told you yesterday he thinks about Ze Shou’s smile 24/7” in 5 seconds flat. I actually thought he liked Ze Shou.

The Eighth Sense Eps 9 & 10 (Finale) Stray Thoughts
So we’ve come to the end of the road with this show. I’m sure, like I Told Sunset About You and I Promised You The Moon, this one will stick with me. It’s been a fun ride, and I’ve enjoyed meeting new people because of it.
Last time, we processed the aftermath of Ji Hyun’s near-death experience on the ill-advised surfing trip. The seniors from the surfing club were absolutely horrible about it, and were completely insensitive. Jae Won has retreated completely within himself and is barely interacting with anyone, except to beat Tae-hyung’s ass for talking shit about Ji Hyun.
Meanwhile, Ji Hyun is absolutely radiant after recovering and is in his confident era. He’s handing out L’s left and right. No one is safe! Jae Won has been avoiding Ji Hyun, but Ji Hyun came through for him in the disciplinary hearing and handed Tae-hyung yet another petty defeat. Ji Hyun then forced Jae Won to talk to him, only for Jae Won to disappoint all of us for trying to shove Ji Hyun away.
Episode 9
I am glad this therapist is being direct with Jae Won. I don’t know if that’s proper or not, but he needs to have his head yanked out of his ass on this.
I’m glad Ji Hyun has friends to talk with. They’re also forcing him to see beyond himself and interrogate why Jae Won is being so weird. They even came up with a plan of action!
For Yoon Won’s sake, I hope they manage to save the surf club.
Jae Won’s tired eyes are making me feel exhausted too. I love Ji Hyun’s determination to comfort, even if Jae Won instinctively pulls back at first.
I get Yoon Won trying to save the surfing club as something she can accomplish. Unfortunately, Ji Hyun and Jae Won are not going to out themselves to the university. Still, I’m glad Jae Won isn’t so out of it that he can’t comfort this friend.
Eun Ji declared war on Ji Hyun and came to win. Making out with Jae Won in front of Ji Hyun is a bold strategy. Let’s see how it pays off for her.
I’m deeming Eun Ji only partially successful. She may have driven a wedge further between our leads, but she did not succeed at getting Jae Won in bed. Jae Won sent her home so he could yearn outside of the bar Ji Hyun works at. A victory for the homos.
I am back to being a Joon Pyo fan. He’s been working overtime to keep Ji Hyun’s life intact and is still out here locating secret Instagram accounts.
I liked the time passage montage of Jae Won at school, though I don’t know why he’s showing more signs of life.
The camera gift along with the sketch was so touching.
Eun Ji is a liar who lies, and I’m proud of Jae Won for crushing her.
I love the Boss. Jae Won needs a firm kick to get out of his own head sometimes, and I love her straightforward nature.
I’m so glad a radio song request gets to play a role in this story. Hilariously, they chose Conan Gray’s “The Story,” which, I am too polite on Tumblr to elaborate on further.
This isn’t a Japanese BL, so Jae Won isn’t going to run across the city, but we know where he’s going.
Okay! They just went for it with that kiss! Love the enthusiasm, boys!
Episode 10 (Finale)
I always lose it a little bit for yin and yang imagery with the boys. So glad these two finally spent a comfortable night together.
Of course Jae Won left without a message and has his phone off.
Oh good, he was just with Joon Pyo. We should definitely take Joon Pyo out clubbing. He’s done enough for us at this point.
Oh, the classic tropes! Love when the older boy puts his jacket on the love interest.
I’m happy, too! This is the final episode and we’ve been in angst for three previous ones! We are going to make it clear! We are dating! This is new!
Great, the phone is ringing. Time to spoil the moment.
Whew, never mind. Yoon Won might be getting a job and the surfing club is active again.
I love gay people. “Admit you joined the surf club for me.” “Oh yeah? Admit you had a lighter the whole time.”
Ae Ri. She gets a plate.
Whyy are Eun Ji and Tae Hyung at this party??
Male friendships are so embarrassing sometimes. Petty threats into stilted apologies into something strangely earnest. Men were definitely involved in the writing of this project.
I’m glad Ae Ri will keep teasing Ji Hyun.
Bit Na handed Tae Hyung one more loss before the end. Good.
That’s right Yoon Won. Jae Won needs to know his true friends support his love life.
We chatted a bit about the forgiveness in the clown server, and I will say that I don’t mind Jae Won forgiving Tae Hyung and Eun Ji. It provides closure for all of them, and he can focus on the people that matter in his life now. Besides, celebrations are a chance to let go of things.
GOOD FOR YOON WON AND JOON PYO! GET. IT. IN.
I do like them having the question about who knows and who is allowed to know.
TIME FOR JI HYUN TO GLOAT TO EUN JI!
Look at Eun Ji also trying to be a proper senior for once. I still think she should apologize to Ae Ri, but we can’t get everything.
“Don’t just treat me as cute. You don’t know what’s coming.” YES INDEED, BABY BOY!!
Final Verdict: 9.5, Highly Recommended. This was a fantastic collaboration between a German director and Korean director. I think everyone gives incredibly accessible performances that convey the complex ideas within the story. Much is allowed to be shown rather than said, and conversations unfold naturally. I also think this show captured the experience gap between graduating seniors and freshmen really well. This show brought out a lot of familiar feelings for me in a gentle way. I think it’s one of the best things I’ve seen this year.

This Week In BL - I Am SALTY
June 2022 Wk 3
A very disappointing week and I’m loopy on cold meds.
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying the most.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
Triage (Mon AISplay) Ep 8 - the romantic growth in this show is really well done and natural, especially from Tol’s side, you can see him go from extremely wary to actively in love, it’s very well acted. He’s a complex character so I’m not sure I like him, but I definitely like THEM especially the domesticity moments. Also cute momentum on the side couple, SingGap. Gap is gonna have to get over uke tendencies and do the heavy lifting on this one tho, or nothing will happen. We have 5 more eps to go. This is a crazy ride.
KinnPorsche (Sat iQIYI) Ep 11 - Big Daddy interrupting a BDSM scene for the worse = a new one on me. Chay demonstrating my “please don’t make Thai actors cry” request. VegasPete was great. But frankly I probubly would have just preferred them as the leads in a Thai remake of Sei no Gekiyaku, and yes, I actually mean that. So now Kin’s dad killed Porsche’s parents and that’s the relationship doom drama or something? What is this nonsense? Thai BLs of Our Lives? Also BJ in a helicopter much? *grumbles about shark jumping in a corner*
Tumblr media
Sky in Your Heart (Fri YouTube) Ep 3 - GMMTV putting the big guns in this one. Always happy to see TTJ. That said, Mek clearly can’t hack BL. I get no chemistry from these two. Not a very good kiss.
Check Out (Sat IQIYI) Ep 2 - basically this is giving me the messy cheating bisexual meets long suffering gay I was expecting from Love Mechanics but the plot is naff. Whatever.
My Secret Love (Sat YouTube Sat) Ep 4 - there’s nothing WRONG with this show, per say. There’s nothing right with it either.
Love Mechanics (Sun WeTV) Ep 1 - I am well over trying to find stuff that should be available international. What are they doing? It’s not like they lack for distribution options for BL these days when even China is playing in the field. Get your shit together. Why do they always squander YinWar? I LIED IT’S THERE. Messy cheating. Drunken dub-con. No sugarcoating. Ho boy. We in for a ROUGH RIDE.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
To My Star 2 (Korea Viki) Ep 3-4 - So she is a childhood sweetheart ex? Bah. ANNOYED. That said, I did love the way she touches Ji Woo and he instantly checks with baby to make sure he’s OK. For someone who’s instinctive words always cut, Ji Woo’s physical instincts are always the opposite. He’s a great character and must be a lot of fun to act. But ho boy, Korea sure does like to D.W.E.L.L. Seo Joon’s sweaters = killing me softly. Also, catfight! Good musical score on this show. Poor Seo Joon he lost his foundation. Of course, this is going to be an exploration about how he is actually Ji Woo’s foundation. But obvs that’s poetry to come. Why is this show so painfully good?
Old Fashion Cupcake (Japan Mon Viki) Ep 1-2 - We’re gonna have to talk about something up front with this one. And it has to do with the fact that I’m a huge fan of the movie Tampopo. It’s got nothing to do with BL and everything to do with Japanese cinema. Why am I bringing this up? Because what this show does out the gate (and Japanese romance does a lot) is use the most intimate filming techniques (close shots, soft focus, etc...) to portray food and eating (not people/faces). Which means the food = a metaphor/stand in for sexual intimacy, repressed desires, and sexual awakening. I could not be more here for this showing up in a BL. It’s one of my favorite things about Japanese cinema. Add that to genuine mature characters? And I already love this show to peaces, and it’s going to be hard to be objective about it. Nozue + Togawa forever!
Senpai, Danjite Koidewa! AKA Senpai, This Can’t be Love! (Japan Fri Viki) Ep 1 - What is this with JBL opening on a kiss but not closing with one? The par de deux music mouse click thing was cute, and I like we get a JBL from both character’s POV from the start. And they were right, this is a Utsukushii Kare style worship only not whipping boy or attack dog more stalker like SCOY. (Uh oh.) All in all, this is a tense little show. I like THAT but I’m not sure i like this show yet.
Plus & Minus (Taiwan Viki *rec* & GaGa Fri) Ep 11 - Classic ep 11 DOOM. But it will all be okay. Cute side dishes were cute.
Want to See You (Vietnam YouTube) Ep 2 - It’s good, better with the brother character. You should read @squeakygeeky’s analysis of the pronouns, and how they shift, it makes for a much more comprehensible, significant, and flirtatious episode.
Love in Spring (Korea grey) Ep 9-10 - Can’t find subbed anymore. So I guess it’s on hold until I can or it gets distribution.
Kimi no Koto Dake Mite Itai AKA I Only Want To See You (Japan Thurs Hulu JP) Ep 1 - Not available inter.
Getaway (Singapore Mon YouTube) Ep 4 - The acting is just too terrible. DNF
Tumblr media
Gossip
Korean gay novel Star Struck to be adapted into a BL. Looks bog standard messy gay long term pining friends-to-lovers, but novel is a good thing, tends to have more meat to work with then a manwha. I wonder if they will do a full length series?
PT is Love announced, this (like Peach of Time) is another Korean/Thai collab project. Looks interesting: moot pining besties, enter university together. investigate MURDER, fall in love. As ya do.
Looks like BounPrem (Until We Meet Again’s WinTeam) have a new project: Even Sun series. Looks like a tourist board promo adjacent thingy.
Tumblr media
In Case You Missed It
There’s a new Vietnamese BL (or just gay) movie coming out which looks pretty good, called Tie the Not. LONG trailer here.
Dear Doctor I'm Coming for Soul looks like it’s being made available on YouTube. (Maybe only in part?) I liked this one, recommended with some reservations around an amorphous ending. Doctor and Reaper fall in love.
Tumblr media
Next Week Looks Like This:
Unforgotten Nights starts on GaGa, thank fuck, clearly I need to get this snark out of my system. TRASH WATCH awaits.
Tumblr media
This week’s best moments?
Tumblr media
I love it when a show reviews itself.

In the epilogue for episode 2, Seo Joon points out that Ji Woo avoids things when he is angry or embarrassed by cleaning and organizing and digs the truth out of him.
Tumblr media
And what is Ji Woo doing the whole time Seo Joon is talking to him at the beginning of the episode?
Tumblr media
Organizing and cleaning!
Seo Joon knows his man is LYING! Even his pseudo-child knows his avoidance tactics!
Tumblr media
Ji Woo, you have a golden retriever for a husband. He is going to sniff your lies out!

I was in a weird and oddly vulnerable mood yesterday, so instead of watching the three new episodes of the shows I was "supposed" to watch and risk feeling disappointed* by them, I rewatched the first To My Star. I think I wrote right after my first viewing that it would probably become one of my comfort shows, and apparently it has :-)
First of all, I think I loved it even more the second time. And it was better than I remembered. I still didn't think it was perfect, but parts that had seemed disjointed previously seemed more coherent this time, and I could see how much of the characters' arcs she was setting up from the very first moment.†
This was my first rewatch after seeing To My Star 2, and I'm amazed at how much of the groundwork for the sequel was already laid out in the first show. The two really feel like a coherent whole. I had previously decided that TMS2 was basically fanfic of the first one, and while I don't think that's wrong exactly, TMS is very clearly setting up everything that happens in TMS2. All of the character traits and issues that lead to the conflicts and struggles of TMS2 are already present in TMS, they merely become bigger and less ignorable.
Even little things that seemed like comedic throwaway moments or relatively minor scenes turn out to become major relationship issues or important plot points in the sequel: Things like Seo-joon teasing Ji-woo about not believing he'd been in a relationship before and Ji-woo being so closed-lipped about it, Seo-joon's attempts to smooth everything over with money, Ji-woo's dislike of accepting money from him, even Seo-joon's cooking video.
There were several lines of dialogue that are basically previews to some of the most significant conversations in TMS2. Ji-woo tells Seo-joon "You're not considerate of other's feelings and say what you want to say. I'm envious of it," which is a foreshadowing of what he says after the relief of finding that little girl is safe, just before their desperate kiss: ""How could you be so honest about everything? How can I ignore you now?"
And their fight just before Ji-woo moves out of the house (this is how he deals with conflict! He runs away!) is the basic conflict that permeates TMS2.
J: "Everything that happened between us... Thinking about it made me feel disgusted." S: "This doesn't make sense all of a sudden. There's something wrong, isn't there." J: "When I'm with you, I feel like I'll be put in danger."
Ji-woo misdirects and lies about his feelings, he gets overwhelmed by the bleed-through of Seo-joon's fame, he thinks he can protect Seo-joon by pulling away and leaving him. And Seo-joon knows something doesn't add up, but he can't figure out what. This is what starts the events of TMS2, and it foreshadows many of their conversations.
I don't think I realized how consistent the characters were between shows, or how similar the overall tone of the two shows was. I think the first time I saw TMS I was expecting a more traditional BL and that colored my perception. But upon rewatch, its style - it's treatment of the two main characters, the world around them, even the aesthetics - has a lot in common with TMS2. And I don't think it's just a Hwang Da-Seul thing, the To My Stars are much more similar to each other than they are to either Blueming or Where Your Eyes Linger. Now I'm curious if Hwang Da-seul had written them both together, or if she only thought of the sequel after the first one was a success. It's starting to feel as if they were conceived of as one unit.
Anyways, I could write a lot more words about all the threads and themes that carry through to TMS2, and perhaps I will, but not today.
*I did make myself start The Eclipse, but I felt so irrationally betrayed that the kiss was just a fantasy that I decided I wasn't in the right headspace and gave up for now after the first quarter. I have been loving all three of these high school shows so much, and I don't want them to do anything to make me stop loving them. This is one of my first experiences devoutly following a series week to week (and my very first experience reacting to it as part of a community), and I didn't realize how much I would bond to these shows. Usually I binge things and process it all immediately, and in my own head. Don't get me wrong, overall it's been a wonderful experience watching them this way, I just didn't want to push it yesterday and ruin things for myself.
† I had planned to enjoy TMS mindlessly, but apparently these days I'm incapable of watching something without writing out my thoughts on it.

Ji Woo can lie to Seo Joon all he wants but he still:
can’t tell the lies to Seo Joon’s face and has to face away from him
kept Seo Joon’s shirt to sleep with
kept the ring from Seo Joon
named his restaurant ‘Ti aspetto’ (I’m waiting for you)
couldn’t face Seo Joon when he decided to leave from his life so he had to leave a note
Like I’m sorry Ji Woo I know life is hard and figuring it out is even harder, but you’re not fooling anyone.

Here’s the remaining threads left unanswered as of ep 10, as well as other things:
Aka: I’m this guy right here
Tumblr media
1. Why was Baek Ji-eun’s earring found in Sung Joon’s car?
2. Jung Man Chun’s testimony conflicted with Sung Hoon’s presentation of the evidence in court. Jung Man Chun claimed that a car (presumably Sung Joon’s) drove past him and Baek Ji-eun while Sung Joon claims that it was a delivery bike that drove past them. Which was it that was correct?
3. Why did Jung Man Chun confidently state that he saw Sung Joon on the night of the kidnapping, only to backtrack when Sung Hoon visits him in the hospital later on?
4. Sung Joon never gives his alibi in court on where he was the nigh Baek Ji-eun was kidnapped and murdered
5. Who was the motorist who helped Jung Man Chun escape the prison bus and provided him with a motorcycle to get away?
6. If Choi Do-il is convinced that no. 13 is Sung Joon, and that no. 13 was the one who gave the second blow to Choi Do-il’s head, was it a) Sung Joon who delivered the second blow, b) Choi Do-il realized that no.13 was someone else, or c) Sung Hoon lied about Choi Do-il’s last words?
7. If no. 11 (now confirmed to be Sung Hoon), gave Yoon Jae his necklace, how does Sung Joon have the same necklace? And why did Sung Joon say that his sister gave that necklace to him given that Sung Joon is NOT Yoon Jae?
8. Who poisoned Kang Young Ki’s drink to serve as a distraction and give time to murder Kang Ha-na?
Things to point out: 1. In ep 2, Jung Man Chun says “everyone in this courtroom will die” after his failed attempt to assault/assassinate Sung Hoon. Naturally with that chilling threat, all eyes would be on him; except one apparently.
Tumblr media
In-seong has other priorities.
He’s either looking at Sung Hoon, Sung Joon, or both. Given that Sung Hoon is confirmed to be no.11, and our suspicions that In-seong is one of the kids from the center, it is likely that In-seong either recognized or already knew Sung Hoon as no.11 followed by Choi Do-il later on in the hospital. (I suspect that Chief Yeom also recognizes Sung Hoon, though maybe it hasn’t clicked) 2. In-seong is seen to be either secretive and dishonest about himself. He doesn’t share about where he works until pressed further by Charles, and when he is pressed further, he gives his namecard and says he’s in customer service. But later we find his nametag states that he’s an engineer. We also know that he works well with computers and malware.
3. Sung Hoon is capable of taking Sung Joon’s car keys in the middle of the night
My personal theories:
1. Yoon Jae’s death was faked. The only person who said he’s dead was a nun who’d never stepped foot into the center before, while those working in the center had no clue that Yoon Jae had died, all along suspecting him to be Sung Joon. My hunch is that it was no.12 who had succumbed to his ankle injury, and Yoon Jae swapped identities with him in the records and the possible chaos when the center was abruptly shut down.
This theory is further pushed by the fact that the Joker murderer has a photo of Yoon Jae, Yoon Jung and Gabriel together, implying that the revenge is for the trio.
2. The revenge plot is not done by one person alone but by both Sung Hoon and In-seong. This would tie up the thread of Sung Joon’s car being used to kidnap Baek Ji-eun, and the other thread that is the elaborate set-up to livestream Ahn Tae-ho’s execution and divert the IP to avoid detection from the police.
There’s also the fact that Sung Hoon was keeping the drone video camera recording of the murder of Jung Man Chun. The placement of the drone was something that he could’ve planned in advance with an accomplice in an attempt to gather evidence against Baek Moon Kang and was forced to bring to light earlier than planned to free his brother and get his adopted mom off his back.
3. If we go with the theory that Sung Hoon is involved with the revenge plot, it is highly possible that he might’ve initially wanted to pin the murders on Sung Joon and put him in jail, not anticipating that Jung Man Chun and his family would be murdered and that Sung Joon would get kidnapped, tortured and brought close to death. Wanting to send someone to jail is not the same as wanting someone to get tortured and murdered; and Sung Joon getting kidnapped and framed for the murder of Jung Man Chun and his family would’ve possibly thrown a wrench in an otherwise very elaborate revenge plot.
4. There are theories that Charles is one of the kids in the center, but given what we’ve learned about his family and his missing brother in ep 10, it seems that his family is the one involved in the center and not him personally
5. Just as anyone could get a leg injury for any number of reasons, anyone could develop a fear of dogs for any number of reasons; and that is most likely the case for Sung Joon. His fear of dogs was written in as a red herring to have us wrongly assume he was Yoon Jae; just as we wrongly assumed Ahn Tae-ho was no. 12.

Mouse (2021) Ep. 10 Recap
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum is displaying increasingly violent behaviour and struggling to control his urges, including the urge to kill. Additionally, a new murder case has emerged with similarities to the previous ones. Based on this evidence, it is possible that the transplanted brain piece in Ba-Reum's head is not from a psychopath, and therefore Yo-Han may not be the killer.
If you want to watch the series for yourself, stop reading! This post contains spoilers to the storyline.
Shortly after Han Seo-Joon's arrest for murder, his wife Ji-Eun was almost due to give birth. While leaving the hospital after a check-up, she witnesses a woman attempting to strangle her own son. Hospital staff intervene and save the child, but the woman begs Ji-Eun not to give brith to her own child.
Tumblr media
Ji-Eun breaks away from the distressed woman and exits the building. Outside, she is horrified as the woman slams into the concrete just inches away from her. Ji-Eun looks up and sees the woman's son peering down triumphantly. She shudders as her water breaks, mingling with the dying woman's blood on the pavement.
Tumblr media
Moo-Chi wakes up the morning after his confrontation with Ba-Reum, still at Ba-Reum's house. He has no memory of their fight, having been drunk. Ba-Reum's left hand is wrapped as if he's injured. Ba-Reum admits that they fought, but downplays what happened. He asks Moo-Chi to stop drinking, but Moo-Chi only says he'll stop once he kills Han Seo-Joon. he becomes loud and upset because he cannot get arrested to get close to Seo-Joon, no matter how hard he tries. Ba-Reum smiles and says that his hyung, Moo-Won, is looking out for him.
Tumblr media
After Moo-Chi leaves for work, Ba-Reum discovers a bloodstained rock in the garden. He remembers how he strangled Moo-Chi last night and then picked up the rock. He heard a voice in his head telling him to kill Moo-Chi with the rock. Another voice pleaded with him not to do it. In the end, he screamed "No!" and smashed his own hand with the rock to release Moo-Chi's throat. Ba-Reum remembers a girl from the past who said that the mouse had a bad brain. He wonders if the part of Yo-Han's brain inside his head will eventually kill him from within.
Ba-Reum visits Seo-Joon, who is disappointed that Ba-Reum is keeping the world's first successful brain transplant a secret. Seo-Joon informed him that when he transplanted a violent mouse's brain into a docile mouse, the doucile mouse became violent and killed its mate. Ba-Reum confessed to almost killing someone. He wondered if the same would happen to Ba-Reum.
Detective Park was shaken to learn that the body he had buried, thinking it was his daughter Hyun-Soo's, was actually that of Jung Man-Ho's daughter, Soo-Jin. He wants to know what happened to Hyun-Soo. He goes straight to Seo-Joon to demand answers. Seo-Joon says he never said the remains were Hyun-Soo's and doesn't recall where her body is. Detective Park is escorted out while screaming. Seo-Joon warns Moo-Chi that he will regret shooting Yo-Han. Moo-Chi admits that he already regrets it and should have killed Seo-Joon first while Yo-Han watched.
Tumblr media
During a check-up, Ba-Reum asks the doctor if he could be developing violent tendencies from Yo-Han's brain inside his head. The doctor assures him that it is not possible to inherit traits from donors, despite what many believe.
While at Moo-Chi's computer, Ba-Reum discovers graphic photos of Yo-Han's victims. He tries to convince himselfe that his reaction is only psychological and takes his medicine as a precaution. Moo-Chi catches him and Ba-Reum lies, saying he was searching for Halmoni's brooch on the evidence list because Bong-Yi wants it, but it's not in the evidence box.
Meanwhile, Kang Deok-Soo's mother accosts Bong-Yi in her neighbourhood, yelling at her to move away. Bong-Yi calmly replies that Kang Duk-Soo is at fault for his actions. The mother attacks, but thankfully Moo-Chi is there to break it up.
Tumblr media
Later, Kang Duk-Soo grinst that Bong-Yi has grown up to be very pretty. With Kang Deok-Soo out of prison, Moo-Chi suggests that Bong-Yi live with him for safety. Bong-Yi argues that she cannot live on the run. This is the only place she can afford to live because her father built it.
Moo-Chi finds Ba-Reum planting flowers at the station. He gets loud about how they are making Ba-Reum do garden work with his broken hand. Ba-Reum notices something while watching him dig. Woo Jae-Pil confessed to digging the hole where Jung Soo-Jin's body was found. However, the angle of the hole suggests that it was dug by a right-handed person, while Jae-Pil is left-handed.
Tumblr media
Photos show that Jae-Pil had a cast on his left hand during Soo-Jin's death. Therefore, he would have had to dig using his right hand. However, the left-leaning knots on Soo-Jin's hands could not have been tied by him. Ba-Reum believes that the knots were clumsy, as if a child had tied them. Jae-Pil's son, Hyung-Chul, was twelve years old at the time. Ba-Reum and Moo-Chi decide to focus on Hyung-Chul for now, starting with his solid alibi during Hong Na-Ri's death. During the investigation, Ba-Reum and his team visit the woman whose windows Hyung-Chul was working on at the time of Na-Ri's murder. She confirms that she was at the home the entire time he was there, except for a brief period of twenty minutes when she took her sick dog to the vet. Ba-Reum concludes that Hyung-Chul must have given something to the dog to make it sick and then left to commit the murder.
Hyung-Chul would have only had a few minutes to kill Na-Ri, including travel time. To test the timing, Moo-chi has Ba-Reum tie him and strangle him, but Ba-Reum gets too into it. Luckily, Moo-Chi's timer goes off and snaps him out of it.
Tumblr media
They realize that Hyung-Chul didn't have enough time to kill Na-Ri. Ba-Reum is shaken. Moo-Chi doesn't realize how close he came to death. He tells Ba-Reum that he's a better cop after his accident, with his newfound ability to understand killers. Ba-Reum gets Moo-Chi a beer that's been stored in a fridge that's being used to cool a pot of bone broth. Suddenly, Ba-Reum solves the mystery. He and Moo-Chi confront Hyung-Chul. Moo-Chi growls that killing is an addiction, and Hyung-Chul challenges him to crack his alibi before more people die. He begins to walk away, but Moo-Chi informs him that he became ill after consuming milk from Hong Na-Ri's refrigerator that should have been fresh.
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum reveals that Hyung-Chul did not kill Hong Na-Ri on the day he left his job. Instead, he had killed her two days earlier and stored her body in her fridge. He then moved her body back to the position where he had killed her, making it look like Na-Ri was killed while he was working. Hyung-Chul's alibi was thus secured. When Ba-Reum shows him that Na-Ri's DNA was found inside her fridge, Hyung-Chul laughs at their wild theory. Hyung-Chul demanded a warrant, but Moo-Chi aimed his gun and pulled the trigger when he turned his back. Fortunately, Ba-Reum had removed the bullets.
Hyung-Chul attempted to flee, but Detective Kang intercepted him with an arrest warrant. Moo-Chi was angry because he wanted to kill Hyung-Chul and go to jail to kill Seo-Joon, but Ba-Reum saved him against his will, once again.
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum is upset by the new murderous voice in his head and begs his surgeon for another transplant. However, the doctor turns him down, explaining that a brain transplant requires specific circumstances. Ba-Reum becomes angry when the doctor says that he would lose a lot if he were operated on again and snarls, "I could lose myself! Sung Yo-Han's mind might take over mine!" He storms out, and the doctor calls Chief Choi, who then makes another call to beg a favour.
Bong-Yi caught a little girl stealing food in a convenience store. Out of kindness, she bought the food for her. Bong-Yi was worried that the girl's mother didn't know that Kang Deok-Soo was back in the neighbourhood. So, she walked the girl home and advised her mother to move away quickly. However, the mother was not worried about Deok-Soo and resented Bong-Yi's advice. Bong-Yi asked if it changed anything that she was Deok-Soo's victim. She left the mother rethinking the situation. Ba-Reum was found huddled outside her house. He leaned into her arms and asked sadly if he would be alright.
Tumblr media
The warrant against Hyung-Chul was dismissed due to lack of evidence. Moo-Chi seeks Hong-Joo's assistance in finding concrete evidence against Hyung-Chul. Hong-Joo possesses a diary written by Kim Young-Hee, which contains a picture of her with a friend. Moo-Chi requests Hong-Joo to take care of someone for him, but she declines.
Tumblr media
While walking home, Bong-Yi scratches a man's face out of fear, but it turns out to be Moo-Chi. While patching him up, he hands her the bankbook where he has been saving all the money from Ji-Eun. He wants her to use the money to move to his neighbourhood where it is safe. However, Bong-Yi disagrees and says that running away won't solve anything. She wants to handle Deok-Soo herself. Both of them are worried about Ba-Reum, who is currently at a church. He kneels and pleads tearfully, "Please protect me, Lord. Please don't let anything happen to me. Please don't let me become a monster like Sung Yo-Han."
Tumblr media
Shin Sang informs Ba-Reum that he will be joining Moo-Chi on the evidence managing team. During their conversation, Shin Sang receives the news of a body that shares similarities with Yo-Han's murders, including a finger pointing at a cross.
Ba-Reum meets Shin Sang at the scene where they find the body of a teenage girl who was beaten and burned, similar to Yo-Han's first murder of Song Soo-Jung. The police assume it's a copycat, a fan of Yo-han's. However, Ba-Reum believes it's the work of a professional. He also detects the scent of mint, which he used to smell at the murder site. Ba-Reum remembers Halmoni's missing brooch and asks Moo-Chi to show him the pictures of Yo-Han's basement and the video from the killer during Hong-Joo's broadcast. He notices that the walls are different, suggesting that Yo-Han may not have sent the video. Ba-Reum realizes that he only remembers hitting Song Soo-Jung, not killing him. This means that Yo-Han may not have been the killer after all.
Ba-Reum informs Moo-Chi and Shin Sang that he suspects the killer may have been someone else. Moo-Chi disputes Ba-Reum's theory, questioning why Yo-Han had those photos in his basement and why he attacked Ba-Reum. Ba-Reum explains about the mint, but Moo-Chi refuses to believe that he may have killed an innocent man and orders him to leave. Shortly after, Ba-Reum is summoned to the site of another death, initially believed to be a suicide by hanging. The mint scent in the room makes him uneasy. He notices the woman's head at her throat, as if she tired to free herself. Only one finger is stuck under the rope, which appears to have been arranged by the killer. Upon closer inspection, he sees that she's wearing Moo-Won's missing cross locket with his family's photo still inside. Ba-Reum is startled and falls, then spots something fastened to the edge of the woman's bathrobe: Halmoni's brooch. This is a message.
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum runs out to call Moo-Chi and Shin Sang to the scene. When he returns to the body, he notices that Moo-Won's necklace and Halmoni's brooch are missing. Ba-Reum claimes to have seen them, but the other cops dismiss his claim, except for Moo-Chi. In the woman's purse, Moo-Chi finds a card for an illegal massage parlor, the same card he found in Hyung-Chul's office, and rushes back to the station.
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum sees this as proof that Yo-Han didn't kill anyone, which gives him hope. He vows to catch Hyung-Chul and prove that he is the murderer, and that he does not have the mind of a killer.
Moo-Chi calls Ba-Reum back to the station to talk. While he waits, he messes up Ba-Reum's tidy desk just because it irritates him. He notices a paused video on Ba-Reum's computer and recognizes the girl from Young-Hee's photo. He searches for Hye-Won, but she seems to have vanished. She informed her boss that she was marrying a lawyer, but texted her friends that she was going abroad to study.
Hong-Joo and Moo-Chi have deduced that Hyung-Chul is the common denominator between the deceased girls. Hyung-Chul volunteers to counsel troubled and runaway young women, and Moo-Chi believes that he is killing women he deems "unladylike". For instance, he killed Min-Joo after seeing her enter a hotel with a man, and Na-Ri while she was dating someone else while separated from her husband. Bong-Yi was targeted because he was Deok-Soo's lawyer, and Hyung-Chul knew she was one of his victims.
Hong-Joo leaves for an appointment. Unfortunately, Hyung-Chul is at the doctor's office and sees her with her child. He asks the doctor, the same unethical jerk who proudly admits that he tipped off the reporter that she was dating Yo-Han. The doctor confirms that she was Choi Hong-Joo, the TV producer.
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum and Shin Sang meet with the doctor who performed the autopsy on the burned high schooler. The doctor re-examines the evidence at Ba-Reum's request, but finds no signs of strangulation. Ba-Reum impresses Shin Sang with his knowledge of technical terms, but he becomes concerned about his own condition.
Jung Man-Ho, Soo-Jin's father, is upset to learn that Jae-Pil did not kill his daughter but took the blame to protect his son. He informs Moo-Chi that Hyung-Chul's mother attempted to kill her son before committing suicide. Jung Man-Ho provides Moo-Chi with information on how to locate Hyung-Chul's uncle for further details. The uncle reveals that he once accompanied Hyung-Chul's mother to meet someone named Daniel Lee. Later, he took her to a research institute. After that, her mind seemed blank. Moo-Chi notices some hydrangeas on a nearby hill, and Uncle says that Hyung-Chul planed them there.
Some of the flowers lost their colour, which Moo-Chi knows means there is iron in the soil. He digs up the flowers and finds a knife in the ground next to an as-yet undiscovered body.
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum has been investigating Hyung-Chul and has reached the same conclusion that he is the one responsible for killing these women. Dong-Goo is waiting for him and is upset that Ba-Reum has not been responding to his messages about his wedding tomorrow. Dong-Goo brings a suit for Ba-Reum to try on, and he mentions that he has not heard from his fiancée, Seul-Gi. Only now does Ba-Reum recall that Hyung-Chul was present at the dinner where Dong-Goo's friend advised him not to marry Seul-Gi, and he becomes worried.
Tumblr media
Hyung-Chul judged Seul-Gi unworthy and is now at her place, dressing her in her wedding gown and tying her up. He starts to strangle her, but Ba-Reum and Dong-Goo arrive just in time. Ba-Reum breaks into Seul-Gi's apartment and Hyung-Chul attacks him from behind. Dong-Goo calls for help. Ba-Reum turns the tables and throws Seul-Gi's veil over Hyung-Chul's face. Then, he starts hitting him repeatedly. He stops when he sees blood seeping through the white silk. Hyung-Chul manages to escape by jumping off the balcony. Ba-Reum chases him and catches up when Hyung-Chul's car collides with a truck. Hyung-Chul hides in an empty warehouse and knocks Ba-Reum unconscious when he shows up.
When Ba-Reum wakes up, his hands are tied behind his back. He keeps Hyung-Chul talking to buy time and instinctively works his hands from the knot. Hyung-Chul has confessed to the murders, including the killing of Soo-Jin when they were children. He had pretended it was an accident, and his father had easily believed him. His father even helped him disguise Soo-Jin's body to look like Park Hyun-Soo's. However, Hyung-Chul's mother had suspected something was wrong with her son. She had Daniel Lee test Hyung-Chul's DNA and learned that he is a psychopath. She had attempted to kill him but ended up dead herself.
Tumblr media
Ba-Reum asked Hyung-Chul why he targeted Bong-Yi. Hyung-Chul responded by laughing evilly. Ba-Reum freed his hands and tackled Hyung-Chul to the ground, hittin ghim repeatedly. He asked why Hyung-Chul killed the other victims, including Halmoni, but Hyung-Chul insisted that Sung Yo-han killed him.
Suddenly, Ba-Reum saw images that could only have come from Yo-Han's brain: Halmoni lying dead in the alley and knocking over a barrel to set Soo-Ho's body on fire. Horrified, he realizes that it was indeed Sung Yo-Han. He grabs Hyung-Chul once again and strangles him as the voice in his head whispers that people like Hyung-Chul deserve to die. Ba-Reum only realizes what he has done when Hyung-Chul stops breathing.
Tumblr media
He has become a murderer. Looking up, he sees Yo-Han standing in front of him, taunting him, "How does it feel? Isn't it exhilarating to kill a person?"

Will Ah-jung and Ki-joon be able to overcome the obstacles and confess their true feelings?
Review
Lie to Me is a drama that will make you laugh and swoon with its witty and romantic scenes. The drama has a lot of charm and humor that will keep you entertained and engaged. The drama also has a lot of chemistry and tension between the main leads, who are both adorable and charismatic. The drama has some memorable moments, such as the cola kiss, the ice cream kiss, the handcuff scene, and the proposal scene.
The drama’s strength lies in its cast, especially Yoon Eun-hye and Kang Ji-hwan, who deliver a fantastic performance as Gong Ah-jung and Hyun Ki-joon. They portray the characters’ personalities and emotions with skill and flair. They make you root for them and their love story. They also have a great rapport and compatibility with each other, making their scenes believable and enjoyable. The supporting cast, especially Sung Joon and Jo Yoon-hee, also do a good job of adding conflict and interest to the plot.
The drama’s weakness, however, lies in its script, which has some flaws and inconsistencies. Some of the plot developments and character actions are illogical and unreasonable. Some of the conflicts and resolutions are rushed and unsatisfying. Some of the dialogues and scenes are repetitive and draggy. The drama also suffers from a change of writers midway, which affects the tone and direction of the story. The drama’s ending, in particular, is ambiguous and anticlimactic, leaving many questions unanswered and many issues unresolved.
Overall, Lie to Me is a drama that will appeal to fans of rom-coms and fake marriages. It is a drama that will make you experience a roller coaster of emotions. It is a drama that will make you love and hate the characters at the same time. It is a drama that will make you think and feel deeply. It is a drama that is not perfect, but still worth watching. If you are looking for a drama that will entertain you and challenge you, you may want to give Lie to Me a try.
I hope you enjoyed reading my blog article. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to leave them below. Thank you for your time and attention. 😊.

6 best fantasy K-dramas to watch after Alchemy of Souls
Tumblr media
Our Daeho residents' tale eventually ended, leaving an immense void in our hearts that we kept looking forward to watching every week.  What can we do, though, to fill that void? Watching another epic fantasy tale is the best recipe for moving on from such an epic tale.  Here I am with some of my favorite fantasy K-dramas like Alchemy of Souls that will fill a part of that void.
Hotel Del Luna
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ3_1v8sB48 When talking about fantasy dramas, we can only pass by mentioning Hotel del Luna, a fantasy drama about a 1000-year-old woman, Jang Man-Wol, who is tied to a tree for eternity as a punishment for her evil deeds.  To end that punishment, she has to help the hotel guests go to the afterlife.  Our heroine has got looks to die for, but she also has a hot temper that only our hero, Go Chan-Soong, the hotel manager, who is also a Harvard University graduate, can deal with.  Along with the rest of the hotel staff, who are ghosts with unfulfilled wishes, Man-Wol and Chan-Soong do their best to provide their guests with a comfortable stay. Sell your haunted house
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwkn_elMC3c Ordinary real estate could be more fun. Thus, our female lead, Hong Ji-a, specializes in selling only haunted houses.  Wherever there is a ghost messing around with the residents, Ji-a steps in and sends that ghost away.  Despite nailing her exorcisms, Ji-a faces a minor problem, though. Whenever she deals with a ghost, Ji-a's body gets extremely cold, and she can't handle it anymore. Luckily, she soon runs into our male lead, Oh In-boom, a powerful psychic who has yet to discover that ability.  Strangely enough, whenever In-beom is around, Ji-a doesn't feel cold at all.  Although she is reluctant to seek help, Ji-a suggests they start working on exorcisms together, giving us a powerful partnership that remains on top of my favorites. Unbeknownst to him, his wife gets pregnant with a child who grows up to be a half-fox and half-human, our hero, Choi Kang-chi.  The only way for Kang-chi to live as a human is to use his supernatural powers once he becomes an adult.  That way, those powers will eventually disappear, which sure doesn't happen, and Kang-chi has now to make peace with his fate with the help of our heroine, Dam Yeo-wool. He is now an immortal goblin with an invisible sword stuck through his chest.  Sending off his beloved ones one after another makes life seem meaningless to our goblin, who keeps waiting for his bride, the only one who can take out that sword and end his immortality.  However, when that so-called bride, Ji Eun-Tak, actually shows up, our goblin has a change of mind. Values that made ‘Curtain Call’ look new
Tumblr media
KBS2’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Curtain Call’, which ended on the 27th, was a heart-warming drama. In it, the message of family love and love left behind by Geum Soon Geum (Go Doo Shim) when she passed away clearly shone. The family love that could not be broken even in the midst of war formed a beautiful sumi relationship and completed a depressing impression. So, the remaining families were able to draw a lively future in search of their own happiness.
The final episode recorded a rating of 5.7% (Nielsen Korea), and the scene where Seo Yoon-hee (Jung Ji-so) honestly confesses her feelings to Yoo Jae-heon (Kang Ha-neul) recorded the highest rating of 6.7%.
'Curtain Call' is the story of people involved in the greatest scam on earth by a man (played by Kang Ha-neul) who received an unprecedented special mission to make the wishes of a terminally ill grandmother, Geum Soon-soon, come true. However, looking at it now that the final episode has been broadcast, I have found more value than just a scam. It wasn't cheating, it was a play.
Neither Jae-heon Yoo (Ha-neul Kang), the fake grandson of Jeon Geum-sun, nor Moon-seong Lee (Sang-hyeon Noh), her real grandson, made everyone realize their roles and values. Geum Soon knew that Yoo Jae Heon was not Ri Mun Sung. However, she did not detect, report, or punish fakes. Rather, she made me understand the role of fake. She made me realize that even a fake could become real if she was sincere.
Her real grandson, Lee Moon-seong, eventually let go of her hatred and resentment and honestly conveyed her words that she missed her, warming the heart of Geum-soon, who had suffered from her cold heart.
Her wealth, left behind by her net worth, was divided equally among her southern grandsons as well as her northern true grandson Li Wencheng. She left no legacy to her fake grandchildren.
However, the property that the real grandson Li Moon-seong will receive was entrusted to Jeong Sang-cheol (Sung Dong-il) until she acquired Korean nationality. It was the will of Jeon Ji-soon that Ri Mun-seong would take root in the south and settle down well. In doing so, in the end, Geumsun's great will to unite her family as one without the sale of the hotel, which was her eldest grandson Park Se-joon's (Ji Seung-hyeon) plan, was embedded in her legacy.
‘Curtain Call’ showed the difference as a K-drama in that it dealt with the pain and separation of the nation. In addition, the 'play within a play' setting, in which theater actors act in real life, was selected as another differentiated charm from existing works.
This distinction has received word of mouth not only in Korea but also abroad, and has received attention as it consistently rises to the top of the world through various OTT services such as Amazon Prime Video, Rakuten Viki, and iQiyi International. It is proof that the healing message of family and love, which are universal languages, was conveyed to people around the world through Korea's special history, leaving a deep lingering impression.
The synergy of famous actors also played a big part in the work. Kang Ha-neul, Ha Ji-won, Go Doo-shim, and Seong Dong-il each performed a high-density performance worthy of the 2022 Acting Grand Prize.
Kang Ha-neul took on the role of Yoo Jae-heon, an unknown theater actor who became the fake grandson of Jang Geum-soon, and captivated viewers with his monstrous immersion. Ha Ji-won showed a more mature performance as Park Se-yeon, the charismatic general manager of Hotel Nagwon and a warm and kind hearted person.
Go Doo-shim took on the role of Geum-soon Geum-soon, the founder of Hotel Nakwon, who has an upright mentality even with a time limit of three months, and impressed with the expressiveness of characters on a different level. With Go Doo-shim at the center, the actors' performances were able to gather.
Seong Dong-il brilliantly played the role of Sang-cheol, the assistant to Geum-soon, who arranges everything for her to make her happy and let her go.
Romance wasn't the sorting out winners and losers like real and fake fate. Yoo Jae-heon (Kang Ha-neul) decided to have a serious meeting with Park Se-yeon (Ha Ji-won) as a theater actor, not a fake sister. Seo Yoon-hee (Jung Ji-so) said that she liked Yoo Jae-heon, and she chose her trip to the United States as planned. Bae Dong-jae (Kwon Sang-woo) first proposed to Park Se-yeon to break off her engagement, then asked for a new chance. Both Kwon Sang-woo and Jung Ji-so were cool characters in the melodrama.
