Chapter 34: The Strange Disappearance of Rita Skeeter
“What happened?” he finally asks.
She wets her lips. Her cheeks are burning and she wants to ask if it looks bad.
“I was — practising spells, and one rebounded.” She forces an embarrassed smile. “Did it to myself. Stupid, right?”
There’s a long pause, as she waits for him to react.
“You’re a terrible liar,” is all he says. His voice is soft, but there is something about him that feels angry but in a way she’s unfamiliar with.
He usually goes flat when first irritated, and then explodes when she manages to poke too hard. This is calmer, but far more dangerous than that.
“Who did this to you?”

“Why do you want to keep me alive?” she asks, her voice crackling. “Why do you care if it’s not just because of the vows. You’ve always been very clear that I don’t belong in this world, that you wish I didn’t, that you hate me, and that I’ll never matter because I’m not a pureblood. So, why do you care if I’m alive?”
He blinks, looking blindsided. He swallows, his throat dipping as he stares at her.
“Because —“
He stops like the answer is caught in his throat. He swallows.
“Because you’re my –” He exhales and then stammers out: “Y-you’re my person.”

Hey girl! Is LTDI abandoned? I’m sorry to see it go but happy you shared it with us nonetheless. Can’t wait to read your new works with the publishing house 💜
No, it's not abandoned, I've just been really busy. Somehow my children require more of my time and attention now than they did when they were in preschool, and I just have .001 braincells left by the end of the day. LTDI is a really complicated story on subtextual/sociological level, and that's not something I want to mess up because I hurry to update it when I don't have the mental energy to get it right. I am still working on it, thinking about it, jotting down scenes, but the mental capacity I would want to devote to it is just not at my disposal atm.
BUT, I am moving this month, and hopefully maybe, eventually, once things settle again, not having everyone trapped in excruciating proximity at all times will make my day to day life a little less arduous and I can give full braincell to LTDI again.
It's my baby, I have it all plotted out and lot of scenes written, so it's never far from my mind even if it is publicly inactive looking.
