The footballbro Win Stupid Prizes WSL 21/22 Awards
The ”How’s your head?” Award
This is awarded to Leah Williamson for this headed goal from a Katie McCabe corner which looked like she definitely felt that the next day
The “Have some of that” Award
This goes to Kate Longhurst for her celebration against Spurs. Not everyday you see players run right up to the camera in celebration, it was certainly very memorable.
The “And it was all yellow” Award
This is awarded to Katie McCabe who has managed to get 9 yellow cards over 20 matches. With her record, if she’s playing there’s a good chance she’ll get booked.
The “Not another one” Award
This award goes to Everton who have had as many managers as the highest number of goals they’ve scored in a match, three. This is not an award they’ll be wanting to win twice.
The “Fancy footwork” Award
This award goes to Ellie Roebuck attempting to prove that modern goalkeepers must be confident with the ball at their feet.
The “Should have gone to specsavers” Award
This goes to the third goal Arsenal scored against Chelsea on the opening day of the season as although the goal was given, Beth Mead was offside. This was the start of an unfortunate pattern in the refereeing throughout the season
The “Volleyball” Award
This award goes to that infamous winning goal Spurs scored at City in September, it would be difficult to find a more obvious example of handball.
The “Desperate times call for desperate measures” Award
This goes to that one game where Man City’s 1st, 2nd and academy keeper were all injured so midfielder Laura Coombs was listed as backup keeper.

Match Review: Manchester United Women 1-1 Leicester City Women
A scrappy win against the Villa, a scrappy draw against Arsenal, and now a frustrating draw against Leicester. It's a steady start to the season for United's women, but one that will need more quality on display mid-week if United are to progress past PSG and qualify for the Champions League.
In what was a disappointing draw at home to Leicester, the crowd watched on in the sunshine at Leigh Sports Village at United hosted the Foxes on Sunday.
The game was quickly marred by an injury to new signing and returning fan Gabby George, who might now be ruled out for the season with an ACL injury. We wish her a speedy recovery, and will talk about the spate of ACL problems in women's football in a future article.
United were unlucky early on not to take the lead through Lucia Garcia, and Hinata Miyazawa's energy was clear for all to see in the CAM position. That pace from Nikita Parris, Garcia, and Miyazawa saw United play the long ball counter attack game in the first half and it showed promise, with Hinata even hitting the bar. No breakthrough alas.
Second half saw both teams come out with new tactical impetus but Leicester struck first; a decent free kick whipped into the box, a narrowly missed header from Millie Turner, and number 10 Aileen Whelan unmarked at back post to smash it in the net past Mary Earps. Skinner will have been disappointed to see such sloppy defending.
United responded quickly though, with captain Katie Zelem's neat corner meeting the head of CB Maya Le Tissier and dart into the far corner of the net. From here, United found their rhythm again but to no avail. Even with Toone, Galton, Williams and Evans all thrown into the fray, United just couldn't break down Leicester.
For now, United are 6th in the WSL and undefeated. Leicester are 2nd, also undefeated, but as the first team to take any points off them, and with a rotated side ahead of the PSG second leg, AND with injury to starting LB Gabby George... a draw isn't the worst thing. The problem is that when you discuss title form and how champions play, they win these games. They find a way to sneak these results...
Still, that's done. Now to focus on Wednesday. We love an upset in Paris. Lets make it happen again. UTFR.
