The Enumclaw Public Library is part of the King County Library System. #legolibrarian thought it was a lovely library with a quiet, comfortable presence. There are plenty of comfy chairs by the large window and a good selection. #legolibrarianexplores was interested in finding a good viewpoint to take a photo of Mount Rainier, and the librarians were especially helpful in getting her to a good spot. Lego Librarian appreciated the beautiful light and the chill atmosphere of the Ballard Branch of the Seattle. The space was clean and the staff was great. Lego Librarian would like to see all of the Carnegie libraries. So she started with one in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. The library is now a bar/restaurant named Kangaroo and Kiwi. It has an Australian theme, good food and a relaxed vib. The library opened in 1904 when Ballard was still an independent city. Lego Librarian learned the the Centralia Timberland Library is a Carnegie Library that was constructed in 1913. It is a lovely two story library with an abundance of wood and brick. Three things stood out to #legolibrarian. 1.There is a delightful mural in the children’s area. 2. Patrons can check out a Nintendo Switch and play games in the library and 3. A full size bottle of delightfully chilly water is available to anyone who asks. Lego Librarian discovered that the Camano Island Library is part of the #camanocommons, which is a uber cute center with a giftstore, coffee bar/bakery/cafe and plenty of outdoor seating. My favorite thing about this library besides the very kind and welcome staff is that with a library card you can check out a laptop for two hours and go sit outside and do your work. that’s pretty nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and maybe drink a nice cup of coffee. Oh and also there’s great community space and one of the spaces has a nice fireplace. Lego Librarian was enchanted by the Mt. Vernon Library. In addition to the traditional library things it has a Library of Things (including a wildlife viewing kit with a park pass) and a Seed Library. But what really got the attention of #legolibrarian was that every Saturday they offer a virtual reality experience for adults with 3d glasses. How cool is that!? The other terrific idea is the Trial By Flavor which is free program to help adults and families discover new flavors and explore the world together from their kitchen. Every other month they pick an ingredient to be featured in a free cooking kit and a demo video with a local chef cooking the featured recipe. Lego Librarian has been dropping in on area libraries. Each one seems to have some thing special. The Pierce County Library in Sumner has boxes you can use in the library with activities like fortunetelling and origami. They also have law books which she doesn’t remember seeing other small branches. They print out the New York Times Best Seller List and #legolibrarian was happy to see if she’s read four of books on the list. For fiction she’s read The Midnight Library and The Last Thing He Told Me.
