I think everyone in the CG fandom are aware of the real world reflections and political references in the series, but it's only until after I finish watching Akito that the sheer heaviness of everything hits me because it was solely politics and Geass. I love the slice of life tidbits that are provided with Lelouch, but somehow I can't take Suzaku seriously even though he's the Knight of Seven and all. But his power and authority as a Rounds is made exceedingly clear in the movies - travelling in the imperial transport, kicking a Euro-Britannian official in the face without hesitation when they wanted to remove Kingsley from power etc.
Also you can't convince me that Ashley's subordinates don't simp for him. Look at them. A group of misfits gathered together, and despite his temper he never mistreats them. I love him <3
(HCs for any character in the movies of your choice?)
In all honesty, Anon, I've tackled all five Akito the Exiled movies in a row, more than once, and I still can't explain them if my life depended on it. But making this post reminded me how overwhelmingly deep the movies are, so I might give them a rewatch!
That, however, doesn't stop me from being bewildered by the complexity of the geassverse. Although it's the main story, Lelouch of the Rebellion doesn't seem half as intricate as Akito the Exiled is. Quite a shame that people skip over Akito because it has a different protagonist, even worse when people deem it "worth watching" only for the few minutes of Lelouch and Suzaku.
I also find the cast of Akito the Exiled quite likeable, and I don't think it's easy to find a cast as unique. The personalities, attitudes, relationships, even designs are very distinctive. Even side characters, like Ashley. Love that guy.
Now, let's dig in:
Although I am not fond of them being used as an "excuse for the movies to be good", I must admit that the Julius/Lelouch and Suzaku scenes are in fact brilliant. We got to see sides of them that weren't shown in Lelouch of the Rebellion, such as the cases you've mentioned about Suzaku exercising his authority. Also, since the movies take place between R1 and R2, we get to see more of Suzaku in his fresh rage, which we didn't see in R2 due to the timeskip.
And Julius Kingsley is a most chilling character. It's awesome how Sunrise managed to make Julius his own character while simultaneously making Lelouch's character shine through, to the point that it is easily noticed by Shin. And, as expected, Julius' plans are just as intricate as Lelouch's, which, again, makes it a shame that people skip over this movie when the writing shows as much effort as that of Lelouch of the Rebellion does.
Tumblr media
(Give him the damn water though, Suzaku.)
Now, a favourite topic of mine: Ashley Ashra.
Tumblr media
Ashley was one of the characters that stood out the most for me. You just know Sunrise kept him in Akito the Exiled for a reason; had he been featured in Lelouch of the Rebellion, he would have had a crazy load of fans.
He's one of the most complex characters I've come across in the franchise (or that may be because I don't understand every bit of the movies yet.) Him not caring for his life but going blind in rage when one of his subordinates is in danger makes him one hell of a character.
Also? Such a sick design!
Tumblr media
Since Ashley is a character you've shown interest to, here are some thing I've brainstormed about him:
Remembers every birthday of his subordinates and gets them loads of gifts
Insists that he has high tolerance for spicy food but he actually doesn't and only finishes his food out of spite/he thinks he will look 'weak' if he doesn't
Has a whole drawer of accessories but hides it like a grave secret
Very very very superstitious
A huge literature nerd but will not admit it at gunpoint. If one of his subordinates shows an interest in a particular work, though, he will immediately whip out an entire discussion and list of facts just to discuss it with them
Speaks several languages and helps his subordinates if they need help in any one
His sleep schedule is nonexistent
I might do a series of headcanons for other characters in the future! Probably a fresh take when I rewatch the movies💜.

I actually got tagged in a tag game!
Rules: Tag 9 people you want to know better.
Thanks for the tag: @thebreadtree
What are your favorite colors?: dark/wine red and royal blue
The book you're currently reading: A fanstasy book called "Stormdancer: the lotus war". I've never really been into fantasy, but this one looked so interesting, I had to give it a try.
The last song you listened to: "Breathe" by Mako
The last show you watched: That would be "Yu-Gi-Oh!".
The last movie you watched: The second Fifty Shades of Grey movie, "Fifty Shades Darker". I watched the first movie with some friends and it was so ridiculously bad, I had to watch the second one, just to see how much worse it can get. And it gets way worse. - 10000/10, I wouldn't recommend it, unless you want to torture yourself.
Sweet, savory or spicy?: Spicy! I also like sweet and savory food, but spicy is superior!
What you're currently working on: Oh that is a lot. I'm still writing the Genesic Re;Code review and working on my other OC post. There is also this one chapter of my fanfiction, which I started writing in april....
Ok, I'm tagging:

I'm a fan of Code Geass so I'm glad to find sites like these. It makes me think the Code Geass fanbase is still going strong. How does it feel for you about the Code Geass movies remaking the series with some changes? Are you disappointed about them or just think it's alright.
The answer to this came out way, way longer than I expected. Lots of rambling below! I've also been facing a technical issue with Asks, so I'm sorry for the late reply.
I like to think that Code Geass is good enough an anime to garner interest even now. Fans do exist even if activity is not that consistent (myself very much included.) The fanbase does have some fluctuating activity, and I see lots and lots of wonderful fanart nowadays!
I’ve yet to find an anime I love more than Code Geass. Although I watched it very recently, probably months before said alternate timeline movies were released. I didn’t quite understand what they were getting at with the whole ‘season 3′ thing.
I’m going to start by saying, quality of both anime and movie notwithstanding, it was a very well-thought decision to make an alternate timeline. Don’t want to accept the end of canon? Movies are for you! Not a fan of the movies? Stick with the anime! The audience is given a choice.
But the statement stands regardless of whether or not the movies are good. Now, if we actually consider the production of the movies, my opinion very much changes.
So, do I like the new movies? Above all, I am a fan of Re;surrection?
The answer is No.
Now, why is that?
I successfully passed every stage leading to Re;surrection with no contempt:
- Oh, they’re continuing the series? It’s nice to see more from my favourite anime!
- They’re recapping the anime? Makes sense if they want old fans to return to the series with ease.
- The movies are... different from the anime? Following a different canon seems... unusual. I feel like they suddenly backtracked because they thought of something ‘better’ but I’ll give it some time before I judge.
- The movies have cut some major events that heavily affected Lelouch’s character development (i.e, going against Mao, losing Shirley)? Alternate timeline isn’t looking very nice here...
- And the ‘season 3′ which we have been promised of for a long time, will actually follow the canon set by the movies? Well... I’ll just see how Re;surrection is.
And then we arrive to the movie itself...
I need to reiterate that it was a very good decision to have a dual canon, and I do acknowledge all the effort that was put into the movie and the attention it gained worldwide.
However...
My own opinion is that Re;surrection is not a good movie.
Well, I hope no one comes after my blood. But that’s really how I see it.
Re;surrection by and in itself? Great. Wonderful animation and voice acting. An adequately interesting storyline.
Re;surrection, compared to the anime? Bad.
First thing to address is that events have nothing to do with this. One timeline having an event--Lelouch 'staying alive' or any other thing-- that the other one doesn’t is not integral to my opinion. My thoughts are only based on story- and character-writing, character development, depth of plot, etc.
So you see where I’m going with this?
If the character development cut by the recap movies wasn’t enough, what I saw of Re;surrection was enough to show me how terribly ‘out of character’ everyone was. Cornelia, who despised Zero, teamed up with him with no second thought. Suzaku, who loathed Lelouch and made his vendetta his top priority, hit him with the “yeah no it’s nicer to have you around :).” Lelouch himself felt out of character, and most things his character stood for were easily betrayed in the movie, i.e “the only ones who should kill are those prepared to be killed”, leaving Nunnally at the end, etc.
It felt like the producers just said, “bring Lelouch back to life, that’s what everyone will care about, and we can just do random things with the other characters.” (I know that’s not the case, but this is how I see it.) The characters just feel so different than they did in the anime, like the existed solely for the plot.
The writing is also very underwhelming (again, compared to the anime.) The things that happened at C’s World felt so rash and had minimal explanations. Even the villains didn’t have the character-depth the anime characters had. Mao, for instance, seems like a much deeper character than any of the new ones introduced in the movie. It’s like, as with the rest of the cast, the villains were only there to satisfy the plot. Combined with the pacing that was all over the place, the writing feels like the aforementioned “bring Lelouch back and that’s all we need.”
And, finally, the movie as a whole just lacks the intricacy the anime had. Lelouch’s brilliant plans felt really watered-down, nothing like himself. The world-building was rather shallow. Everything from the conflict to the climax felt poorly put-together, with loose explanations just barely tying it up.
And, well, that’s only my opinion. Zero contempt (pun not intended) against people who love Re;surrection, and mega shoutout to all the wonderful fanart and fanfiction creators. Now those things I actually enjoy.

headcanon request: what kind of music do you think Lelouch would like?
I'm pretty sure he listens to patriotic music of any country other than Britannia out of sheer spite.
But also, he prefers instrumentals over vocals, and likes to listen to string instruments. Namely the guitar and violin.
If we consider Code Geass being set in a universe where technology is way ahead of its time, it's highly likely that electronic music is very popular there, but Lelouch prefers the old-school stuff.
He listened to a ton of classical Britannian music as a child, but grew to hate it after being sent to Japan. It is only when Nunnally reminds him of a specific song they liked as children that he is inclined to listen to it once more.
Whatever it is he is listening to, the volume has to be low, enough for only him to hear.
Hope you liked these! 🎶🎵

What happened to code ment?
Although it had a very climatic ending, the abridged series was discontinued right at the Mao arc. If I'm correct, the creator became occupied with IRL stuff. Forever remembered

Thank you so much, Anon! I know it's been a while since the last chapter (and the cliffhanger lol) but I'm just in a writer's block right now (^_^メ).
I do have all plans to update, and I'll do it as soon as possible. Getting comments like this gives me unimaginable motivation. I really appreciate it!

do you have any specific headcanons about any of the code geass character's sexuality? maybe even how they've come to realize their attraction/ lack of because a lot of their lives are occupied by other stuff
I do have headcanons! Some popular, some likely not. You brought up a major point: the majority of characters are too occupied and don’t necessarily view sexuality as a priority. This makes it a prolonged journey of discovery, unique to each character.
Lelouch
Asexual or demisexual
Tumblr media
This is something I’ve hardly ever heard another fan say. Most people think Lelouch easily falls on any part of the attraction scale (and I admit that is highly plausible), but I believe otherwise.
There is more to Lelouch than having occupancies—and a lot of them, at that. Lelouch was simply robbed of love. Love from his parents, his family, his country. Even the bonds he formed with his fellow classmates are forged, since it is not the true him they have befriended. This makes love like a foreign language to Lelouch. He might not understand the premise of getting butterflies or blushing or heart skittering in someone’s presence, and would probably just brush it off. Part of him may think romance is stupid, even, so he would curse at himself for even experiencing attraction.
But I wouldn’t say it’s entirely impossible for him to be attracted to someone, and that’s where demisexuality comes in. Although it’s safe to say it would take a lot of time for him to come to terms with it; getting doubts, not really understanding what he is feeling, not knowing the type of relationship he wants to have with the person. He asks himself a ton of questions to reach a concrete answer.
Suzaku and Kallen
Bisexual
Tumblr media
Similarly to Lelouch, Suzaku and Kallen have had a rocky relationship with love. To them, being in the company of someone who makes them happy is more than they can wish for.
So that is the very beginning of attraction to them: appreciating the person’s presence, laughing and being at ease with them. Then they realise that this person is special to them, that what they feel towards that person is different from other people. They start relishing the moments they have together—which are probably few, given how busy Suzaku and Kallen are—and decide that their feelings warrant much more than a friendship.
And Suzaku and Kallen wouldn’t let their attraction be constricted to a single gender, not when they can feel a strong connection.
Nunnally and Euphemia
Panromantic
Tumblr media
Nunnally and Euphemia are the kind to fall in love with qualities, such as kindness and goodwill. Especially since they wish to have a kind world, and seeing that reflected in people who show kindness to everyone, even in little gestures, is enough to spark love.
Coming to a realisation can be a bit of a ride, from adoring the person, seeing how special they are, and wanting to care for that person. Little by little, it adds up to simply loving anyone with a good heart.
C.C.
Aromantic pansexual
Tumblr media
This one may be a little unpopular.
Simply put, C.C. is bored. She has been through every kind of relationship you can think of: long-term, short-term, friends with benefits, chance meetings, friends turned lovers, even marriages. Nothing can impress her anymore. Love is too predictable, and she’s had more than a fair share of it.
She can let herself be attracted to others, but it wouldn’t exactly be special to her. Her asexuality might branch into demisexuality, if one special person manages to take hold of her tired heart.
Schneizel
Pansexual
Tumblr media
I’ve heard many, including people who haven’t seen Code Geass, make comments about how Schneizel seems pansexual, and I definitely agree.
We can see in the anime how his flirtations are not tamed, how he can easily put on a dazzling smile and shower someone in compliments. We only see him doing so with women, but I believe this can apply to men just as easily (one specific man in mind, of course).
Since giving and receiving flirtations is commonplace to Schneizel, realisation that he is attracted to a person comes in the different little things: laughing a little harder, having a more genuine smile instead of a typical polite one, unexpectedly getting butterflies at a compliment.
Cornelia
Aromantic asexual
Tumblr media
Cornelia strikes me as the kind of person to keep from something as love; she views it as a waste, a weakness, even. She holds a formal relationship with pretty much everyone except her siblings. As expected of royalty, she never lets anyone beyond her walls, and in the rare case that would happen, she would maintain formality. She’s also not the type to get flustered or get butterflies easily.
I don't think she would go as far as to label herself, and probably doesn't pay heed to everything altogether.
Clovis
Pansexual
Tumblr media
This may just be my interpretation, but Clovis seems to be one of the few characters to have a nice and easy journey with love. He is quick to both catch feelings and realise he is in love. Similarly to Nunnally and Euphemia, it is the qualities of a person that make him fall in love, so it's easy to picture him being attracted to any gender.
Milly
Lesbian
Tumblr media
There’s canon proof to back this up, right? We didn’t miss what she did to Shirley and Kallen…
There was her little crush on Lelouch when he first came to Ashford, but I can see it was easily debunked. If she were attracted to more than one gender, she would definitely be female-leaning. Besides, not wanting to marry Llyod Asplund? Speaks volume.
Rolo
Demiromantic pansexual
Tumblr media
Being viewed as a tool, being used by everyone around him, Rolo would find it difficult to develop attraction. He’s used to locking up his feelings, and others not feeling for him.
However, it wouldn’t be impossible for him to be attracted to someone, granted they form a true bond at first. Rolo is the kind to be overwhelmed when receiving affection, given how rarely he receives it, and so it wouldn’t take long for him to have his feelings grow. His attraction isn’t limited to gender, not when he is able to find something so special.

i love how arthur is considered important in code geass
You're quite mistaken, Anon; it's not that Arthur is considered important, but that Arthur is important.
Arthur provides support for Suzaku, that we all know, but I must highlight that Arthur had a direct and important effect on the plot:
Episode 6, The Stolen Mask
Arthur steals Zero's mask -> Lelouch chases the cat -> Nunnally informs the student council -> everyone gathers to watch Suzaku climb to the roof -> Suzaku saves Lelouch -> everyone sees that Suzaku is actually a very nice guy -> Suzaku joins the student council and becomes friends with everyone!
In conclusion, Arthur is the one who put an end to Suzaku's torture at school and integrated him into the student council. I rest my case.

I'd really like an elaboration on that Lelouch singing headcanon you mentioned once!
One of my favourite Lelouch headcanons! Well, it's canon in some way, since the character songs do exist!
He received singing lessons as a child—he canonically plays the piano and dances, so singing seems very probable!
He mostly had to learn traditional Britannian songs—ones he never paid too much attention to as a child but grew to despise as an adult. He hates the melodies, the words, to the point he forces himself to forget yet another thing about the homeland that betrayed him.
His voice is angelic, truly mesmerising, to the point anyone listening to him sing is enchanted.
It's another thing to feed his ego, but he nonetheless believes Nunnally is the one with the truly angelic voice.
The one thing he loves most about singing is duets with Nunnally. Euphemia, too. It's the songs they sang together as children that are the ones he never forgot.
Most probably he stopped singing a few years into living in Japan. He never lost his talent but he doesn't know that many songs to sing.
He tries to keep it a secret because he knows no one will leave him alone if anyone were to find out. But, that doesn't stop him from singing once in a while only when he is at home. Nunnally and Sayoko are the only ones who get to hear him, and maybe Suzaku.
However a member of the student council hears him singing, in a very low voice, to himself in some obscure room as he does some task, and within seconds the entire council comes to know. They beg him to do some kind of show and he tells them to screw off.
It takes a lot of time to reach this, but Lelouch can sing a song or two in those little parties the student council has in the clubhouse.
Here are the songs Lelouch sings for anyone who might want to check them out:
Never End
Regeneration
Back to Zero
Libra

I love your Lelouch headcanons sm! Your portrayal of him is always so accurate. I'd really like to know how you think Lelouch would react to Nunnally falling in love/wanting to be in a relationship with someone.
Thank you so much! My brain is flooding with Lelouch headcanons and I'm glad you like what I share of them!
At the very beginning he's just, confused. Nunnally wants another person in her life? Am I not providing enough for her? Lots of other similar questions. Lelouch already has a hard time putting himself and love in the same equation; it's probably equally as difficult to picture Nunnally in love with someone.
Then he accepts that the concept of falling in love and wanting to be in a relationship is a thing some people are bound to experience, and he would never hold Nunnally back from something she wants.
Of course, Lelouch has severe trust issues, especially when it comes to his beloved sister, given everything they were put through as children.
Cue him getting this special someone for a rather long and detailed interview that includes a physical endurance test and putting the entire clubhouse on lockdown.
At first it makes sense, because he wants to know just who is he trusting his treasured sister with, and whether this person will be able to protect her.
Then it just ranges to something stupid like What do you mean you don't know the ideal temperature for cooking rice? How am I supposed to entrust my sister's safety to someone who doesn't know such a thing?
Someone—either Suzaku or C.C.—figures him out; he's just pulling this elongated test as a distraction, because deep down, he really can't bring himself to see his sister in the company of another. It hurts him in some way.
But when he takes note of how elated Nunnally is at this whole thing, he softens, because he really cares for her happiness as much as her safety.
In the end he agrees to it all, but has a certain ninja maid follow them around, just in case.

what’s your nsfw head canon? how long do you think it needs for lelouch would able to progress their holding hand stage at the end of movie?
here’s mine : after 2-5 years living nomadic in search of the fragments, lelouch would propose to have a home where they could lay low and just loosen up all these fragment searching pressure. Lelouch would be flustered the first time, but after a while i imagined him LOVES doing her rough because then cc turned into whimpering mess and he loved the feeling of having control over the witch 😏😏
At first read I assumed this was intended for @wbad-world , because, well, who else is crazed about CluClu, and nsfw headcanons at that. The fact that the ship wasn't even stated at first said it all.
I'm still answering this though. We might as well all add to this headcanon ←(>▽<)ノ.
Relating to what you’ve mentioned, Lelouch is rather the workaholic and would dedicate too much time and effort to the fragment endeavour. Years pass until it becomes apparent to him and C.C. that there are other things that are well worth their time, and hence comes the lying low bit.
At first Lelouch feels very off with how he isn’t planning or scheming, how there isn’t something grand in the wait for him. It’s the first time in a while that he’s been free to pursue his desire that he isn’t even sure what he wants to do. C.C. is patient with him, and lets him take his time to come to terms with his new feelings.
As a person who has been robbed of several kinds of it, Lelouch is a novice when it comes to love, the sexual kind most of all. For a while, a brush of lips is all he can handle. He freezes up at even the faint touches, unsure of what to do. C.C. finds it rather amusing; “You can trap a powerful woman in an eternal loop of death but can’t figure your way around a bra clasp?”
Despite the frequent teasing, C.C. gives him the initial guidance. It helps that they have both exposed plenty—both figuratively and literally—to one another, so even in all the confusion, Lelouch feels a steel of certainty deep inside him, and that alone is enough to get him through.
Lelouch also happens to be a fast learner, and despite tumbling through the first stages he turns into a superb lover. C.C. is shocked—and impressed—with how proficiently the student beat the master.
It’s safe to say Lelouch would have something of an obsession with sex—a unique and colourful way to demonstrate his eternal love for C.C..
Lelouch prefers to view sex as something equal for both parties, and wouldn’t often bask in having the upper hand. However there are times where he takes rigorous control, overwhelmed with pleasure upon having control over the one person he was always vulnerable in front of.
And he definitely pays back all the teasing in double.

saw your post about langage barriers and reminded me there's fic on ao3 with lelouch struggling to learn japanese as side plot - its called mirror gate - lelouch fell into alternate reality where japan won the war and british have to speak japanese there
Code Geass fanfiction authors have a whole other level of creativity! I'm always blown away by the rich ideas!
And I love Mirror's Gate. I'm always delving into the newest fanfiction to make sure authors know that Code Geass fanfiction is still admired even after decades. And the premise of this one was insanely amazing.
I'm currently writing a fanfiction where Lelouch is multilingual, actually. I've always headcanoned him to be proficient in language learning, although it seems probable he'd struggle with Japanese in particular, given that—from what I've heard—it is challenging for native English speakers.

It's my wallpaper, too! That picture is absolutely majestic. Lelouch wearing Zero's cape over his school uniform just does something to me. And the violet sky contrasting with the cape and his eyes. The scheming face. The smirk. The absolute resolution in his eyes.
Holy hell, I can write an essay about this single photo.

i really love your code geass fanfics! since you said you have a lot of drafts, can we get a hint of what your next work will be <3?
Thank you, Anon! I'm always happy to know there are people out there who enjoy the 4 AM keysmashes I produce with my eyes half closed 🥰❤️.
*stares at my ocean of drafts* Well...
I've been on a suzalulu spree lately, and I still have a lot of works for that ship. Most are multi-chaptered, which honestly still overwhelms me (lack of time and commitment), so expect those around Christmas!
I also have a couple of ready-ish oneshots which can be posted randomly. Those are for smaller, less popular ships.
But what I'm really excited to post is a multi-chaptered Schneizel/Kanon fanfiction! All I've managed to write for this ship so far is oneshots and a short fic so I am very happy with writing something bigger for them! It's also going to be an AU (。•̀ᴗ-)✧.
I hope you look forward to these~❤️.

Not at the moment! But I am heavily considering posting my fanfictions there. For now, I'm moving around the site and trying to figure out how everything works. I'm also getting to know the Code Geass audience there to see if my fanfiction of less popular ships would appeal to them.
