Parallax feels for y'all
#i've been thinking about this for hours. Like it's so sad.#This happened immidiately after Hal gives up his ring to Kyle and Ganthet gives him powers#I've also been thinking about the gardiens and the way they're portrayed and seen as#Like the people who'd only read this issue they'd think Hal is selfish or just overwhelmed by grief#But it's so much more than that#When Hal calls the gardiens “Blue tyrans” it's not only genuine but also legitimate#The gardiens take a lot of autonomy from corps members like asking hal to kill his friend Priest in 1960 GL special issue 2#And they've done a lot of terrible things that can't be erased in anyway#One good example are the manhunters (failing which led to the GL corp) and gold lantern replacing the GL in legion of superhero timeline.#Like I've gotten into comics WAY after watching animated marvel and dc stuff because TV#But I've been thinking about the Green lantern animated serie (how good it was) and the manhunters and the guardiens#Anyway my rambling is useless but I just wanted to post a thing about Hal#Sad feeling aside can you feel the babygirlism in the last panel#hal jordan#green lantern#parallax#Hope the tumblr girlies (gender neutral) are proud of themselves#They infected me with the Parallax fangirlism#sunnyscript#sunnyscriptpost#comics posting#sunnyscripttags

versions of booster gold made by people who obviously dont know much about booster can be so infuriating because they tend to depict him as stupid or as a joke and then people who only know him from these depictions in more popular media have a skewed impression of him
#and like in justice league unlimited#even when the whole thing is about him wanting to be treated seriously#while also still wanting fame and recognition#it feels like a regurgitation of a lot of what he goes through and learns in his first solo#but worse#the 'i thought you were green lantern' joke feels like a rip off of the people calling him buster joke#except the thing about the comics is that he was well known#and the conflict was that he was well known but since he did so much ads and sponsorships and corporate shit#and that he acted like an open book while telling people nothing about himself#led to a distrust with the general opinion on him#which led to interesting plotlines and shit#and sure his tagline is 'the greatest hero youve never heard of' but he has very much been heard of in universe#at least like orginally#anyway this whole thing could be applied to a lot of comic characters unfortunately#but im just pissed that i cant find like a show version of him that does him justice#i hope that whenever james gunn makes that booster gold show that he actually does booster some good#and keeps the og comics in mind#ugh i wish people writing characters should read at least a decent chunk of the characters source material#and other things with them that are properly characterised#anywho i should reread some of my favorite booster comics to make up for it

If I were to guess what DC is gonna do with Babs moving forward I'm putting a lot of money on a Birds of Prey book because DC suspiciously started promoting Birds of Prey stuff on their social media recently and yeah it would be a safe bet.
Maybe Mariko Tamaki is writing it, which if she is then you have me buying it instantly because at least then I know Babs and Helena will be treated with respect.

Now that I have that spare copy of Lucian's Assigment on my desk, I can't help noticing the GIGANTIC ball of light behind him, which, in a whimsical little brain association moment, keeps reminding me of the time my friends and I were, uh, pursued? by a giant ball of light? No I am not making this up yes Bill Cipher was involved let me stress again how little I am making this up
My friends and I were on a road trip and we were supposed to stop by Confusion Hill and see the Bill Cipher statue during the day. At a normal time, like normal people. Then my stupid ass accidentally got on the wrong freeway and took us to San Francisco and THAT was a whole thing, but we ended up passing Confusion Hill at around 11:00 at night

I stayed in the car with the engine running bc uh. we were not supposed to be there. but a few friends got out to take pictures on the nice DSLR. and eventually one of them started SHRIEKING and we managed to get everyone back in there car and talking and they just keep going "there's a light! there's a light!"
And sure enough, there is a ball of light approaching us. Assuming we've pissed off a security guard, I stick my head out the window and say "hello!" waiting for the "Hey you have to leave now"
No response.
Light comes closer.
Shrieking becomes universal as I throw it in reverse and get the hell out of there

#LITERALLY WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT#i dont even like looking at the picture because it freaks me out so bad#we actually got the whole thing on video bc we were vlogging the trip but the video rly doesnt help#also the way the light moved??? was so weird???? so first off i remember it being way smaller#and it moved in a circle like someone was swinging a lantern at us#and it came from pretty high up so knowing there was a hill i assumed there was a guardhouse or the owners lived on the property#and they were standing at the top of some stairs. but NOPE then it was just. THERE.#i do not believe in the supernatural i am begging for a rational explanation#like is it a flashlight? is it LED headlights? i swear to you we did not see a car or a person in that parking lot

Oh thank you, these have been such fun questions to see people answer!!
I had to do a bit of Googling for this, which was fascinating, but if I had to pick one I think I’d go with will-o’-the-wisp. It’s such a charming phrase, first of all, and it’s deliciously creepy, the idea of travelers being led astray by the mysterious, glowing lights in the marsh. It gives me a similar feeling to the Mirkwood chapter in The Hobbit. Even though there are no glowing marsh-lights (like in that one part of Lord of the Rings), there are plenty of huge glowing insect eyes and the eerie, far-off singing of the wood elves and Gandalf’s mysterious but emphatic warning not to wander from the path.
#apparently in the shropshire version of the myth the light is carried by a man (named will smith interestingly enough 😆)#doomed to wander the earth because neither heaven nor hell will accept him#jack-o-lanterns apparently have their roots in this which is cool#in the irish version of the legend the man’s name was jack and he put the light inside a hollowed-out turnip#in some regions they used to say the lights led to buried treasure#of course there's a scientific explanation for the ignis fatuus but it's not nearly as fun as the stories

I agree with your Green Lanterns tags!! I grew up with John Stewart too so when Hal Jordon popped up in the movie I was like:
WHO???
RIGHT?! I remember there was an episode in JLU where they were messing with time and space, and suddenly Hal shows up for a cameo, and then I looked him up after that I was so confused lol. I mean when I found out he wasn't the OG Green Lantern I was like:

I do not understand how I can put something away to use later and then when it’s later and I go to get it, it’s GONE. And it is in zero of the places I look. There aren’t that many places to put things in my house for this to happen so, so frequently.
