OUGHHHH OKAY THAT MANAPHY MOVIE I wanted to put my Blur/Blight guys in a Pokeani movie plot and. I could make it work w this one <3
Spoilers for the Manaphy movie;
It fits because the characters are traveling with a Pokemon Ranger; in this case, Cheren's family from his father's side, Rand, his wife Leanne, and their daughter Nema, are the ones joining in- they also fill the roles of the Marina group.
Also thinking of adding Lisia into the mix; she knows they're from Cheren and Grimsley's dad's side of the family, so she's easily able to bond with their daughter Nema. Both Nema and Lisia fill the role of Lizabeth.
Thinking that the party (both the BW/BW2 parties + N) were traveling out of Unova and got lost; they thankfully found Rand and co, who was more than happy to let them join their group to drop them off to their next stop.
Cheren's Manaphy egg hasn't hatched yet- but its being targeted. Rather than being a preconceived mission from the start, Rand gets an order to protect the Manaphy and stop whoever is targeting it. It hatches during the trip.
Also unlike the end, Manaphy doesn't part with Cheren like Manaphy does w/ May- something something about how it mirrors the Blur/Blight guys' choosing their own fate, as Manaphy turns down the role of Prince(ss) of the sea in favor of living like a normal Pokemon.
THE CLIMAX IN PARTICULAR. The scene where Ash helps May climb into a pod and locks her inside with Manaphy and Pikachu while he goes back to restore the temple.
It seems like such a Kuro moment but also thinking. Cheren went into the temple with the Aspertia Trio, Lisia, and Nema. Hilbert, Bianca, Hilda, N were at the surface the whole time with Rand and Leanne. Instead of it being a Kuro moment, its Nate having his little reckless hero moment. <3
Hilbert gets to have his hero moment and personally battle with whoever the villain is here, at least. They get their different hero moments. <3
Also Manaphy Heartswaps Nate w/ Hilbert at some point.

avast!
It had been smooth sailing the first week or so, despite the excitement of the angelswordfish. Soon after, Claude’s mysterious egg had hatched into some sort of strange creature, a blue-and-white critter the size of a cat she can only liken to garden slugs. It’s quite hungry, and that fish she caught proves useful in sating its appetite. Sadly, it seems to have imprinted on Claude and no one else, but Leanne is determined to become friendly with it.
Oh, how the winds of fortune can change.
One afternoon, a dark cloud descends upon them--not literally, but a flock of seagulls swarms the ship, and they are aggressive and rude! Leanne tries shooing them, but it does not work. Disgruntled, she transforms; surely the presence of a larger bird will dissuade them, yes?
No.
Somehow, it emboldens them. It almost feels as if they are cackling as they surround her, pecking at her and squawking terrible shrill things at her.
“Get off me!” Leanne cries out, flailing her wings in panic. Herons were not made for combat, but she’s got no choice in the moment. “I’ve got nothing you’d want!”
--
a group of giant rays swim past in the current... the direction they came from must be safe! you guys take that route and it is, for a time, smooth sailing.
Not all creatures of the sea are malevolent, at least. Leanne sings thanks to the gentle giants as they glide across their path, wondering what it would feel like to touch one. They seem so smooth.
“Are they friendly?” Leanne inquires, watching them fondly. “I wonder if, in less urgent times, I could say hello.”
Cameron smiles and nods. "Friendly and so cute! Good lil fellas. Fun to surf on. Ah- hang on!"
Leanne barely has time to wonder what surfing on a ray would be like before she’s jostled violently to the side. The ship’s hit something, and she pulls herself to her feet, clinging to the railing.
“Is anything broken?" she calls out to Cameron, bracing for another potential impact. There’s no leak near her, as far as she can see, but she’s only one person, and the sea is ever so fickle. "Do we need to do anything?"
"No time to wonder!" Cameron shouts back as they start to carefully jog away. "You just take care not to get knocked overboard, cutie! I'll go check~! ... Kai-Marik will yell if he needs ya!"
Leanne feels her cheeks flare; she flaps her wings to steady herself, and tries to make herself seem sturdy and strong. Kai-Marik and Cameron are together, right? And yet...hm. That’s something to think about when she’s not worried about the ship sinking.
as if the wreck's mast werent enough, a wayward rock surface tags the ship in the side, rocking everyone to the side. yeowtch!!
That’ll have to be later, it seems! These are rough waters, and it’s all Leanne can do to maintain her footing.

the billy o’ tea
soon may @allegreta @vaida come to bring us sugar and tea and rum
The wind blows strong this evening, and the True North’s sails swell as the ship carries on through the waters. Claude sets his sights on the waves below him, the rolling clouds above him, anything that proves actual movement and progress. If only they could travel by wyvern... the excitement he held for sea travel as a kid dried up when he sailed from Tadmur to Derdriu, stuck under the decks ‘for his protection’. The brisk, salty air calms him somewhat, but he wishes for the skies all the same.
Dinner is bland but Claude chokes it down anyways, taking small sips of water in between bites of salty cod and hardtack. The Egg, nestled in linen, sits securely in his lap. Leanne told Claude that it was hungry before they set sail, but through all of his experimentation with different food and surroundings, he hasn’t seen anything yet...
It’s just an egg. And yet...
Conversation with Kai-Marik and Cameron doesn’t go anywhere fast. His question regarding the captain receives an unsatisfactory reply—that they would meet her in the New World, whatever that means to those two. Kai-Marik’s distrust is met with a bit of his own, but Cameron thankfully turns the conversation back to the Egg.
Cameron hops up to Claude, smiling. "Don't worry 'bout party pooper o'er there! He'll warm up eventually. Maybe. Near death experience or two and we'll all be the tightest o' buds, prommy!" That is how it usually works, right? They lean in for a closer look at the egg. "Mmm... Wotcha got there?~"
“Just an egg,” Claude answers. Actually, considering Cameron is a native here... “Since I'm not from here, I have no clue who laid it... Any wisdom to share?”
Cameron giggles, looking at the egg closer, humming to themselves in thought.
"Maybe Kai-Marik did. It'd explain his sourpuss attitude, don't you think?"
Kai-Marik about chokes on the drink he'd just taken from a small flask. Wipes his mouth before turning over with a faint glare. "Where'd you get the thing anyhow?" he questions, brow quirked.
Claude would never turn his nose up at a joke at Kai-Marik’s expense, and he laughs along with Cameron as the other man splutters. "Oh, I just found it lying around. Not in a nest or anything. I have some fond memories of hatching eggs, so..."
Kai-Marik squints, quite clearly suspicious, but doesn't say anything more at present. Cameron, meanwhile, stoops and coos at the egg. "Lying around... how lucky! I bet it hatches into a cute lil snuggly critter." They reach a hand out, but look up for permission. "Can I touch it?"
“Sure!” Claude pulls away at some of the cloth, revealing more of the Egg. This would be a good experience, right? Meeting new people... but what is he saying, this is just an egg, right? "Sure! Actually, back home, when eggs were close to hatching, we would rub against the shells to encourage them to hatch. Hatchlings making their way out of the nest would brush their scales against nearby eggs, and that would signal that it's ok to come out."
Cameron lights up, absolutely delighted with the information. "How cuuuuute! That would be so fun to see..."
They slowly, carefully stroke the egg until-- "Ow!" (Kai-Marik's head whips around to see.)
Cameron frowns. Looks at their hand. Nothing there. "It felt like it bit me... Weird." But it's just an egg.
...”Like it bit you,” Claude repeats. Alarm makes his heart race, but he has no idea what to make of it. The shell isn’t sharp, right? He runs his hand against the shell again, feeling subtle movement but no ‘bite.’ How can it bite outside of its shell? Wait, but was it even the creature in the egg?
Claude sighs, patting it one last time before he pulls the cloth over the egg again, focusing on Cameron. "I can heal your hand, if you'd like?" Not like he really knows what the hell happened, but they seemed genuinely hurt. "If nothing else, it'd help with the pain."

SAVE THE QUEEN [August 18th - August 24th]
Tag: #UnscriptedQueensCompass2022
Hunt for the queen, or chase after the siren call of buried treasure?
The decision has been near unanimous - screw the queen, you fine folks want some of that (presumably) shiny booty!
... Okay, maybe the queen is still in your thoughts, but your priorities have been made more or less clear.
A wicked storm brews on the horizon, welcoming the Stephanos with open arms and swelling waves... their window of opportunity to change course is swiftly shuttering.
Meanwhile, the Ichaival and the True North idle next to one another just outside of the island of Almeiira... Having a map to the place is one thing, but getting there is another matter altogether.
Better gird your loins, mates; it’s going to be a bumpy ride!
What you know:
This supposed “treasure island” you all are visiting, not so cleverly dubbed ‘Almeiira’ by the book’s author, is said to be unfrequented - largely on account of the shoals by the shore creating dangerous, churning waters impeding entry... Oh, and there’s the whole miasma cloaking the island thing too.
Well... supposedly the queen is in the New World, and Almeiira is said to be on the cusp of the New World... technically you’re not playing hooky, right?
Along the way, Claude’s egg hatched into some odd... critter... ... It’s always voraciously hungry, and will eat anything and everything presented to it. Kai-Marik and Cameron don’t know anything about it, but they warn it better not eat them out of house and home...
The fish in these oceans got hands.
What to do (suggestions):
Revel in your newfound parenthood, @ Claude & co! They do say it takes a village...
Folks aboard the Stephanos, you have a mutiny to stage! Best get crackin’ before Pendrell gets wise to your shenanigans and makes you all walk the plank. . .
Folks aboard the Ichaival and the True North: this ain’t no Splish Mountain, better hang on tight!
If When you make it to shore, it’s time to crack open that map and get exploring!
Follow the Queen’s Compass sideblog. NPCs, once discovered, can be interacted with through this blog or with Tupper in your Discord team channel.
Talk to Mod Key for additional information.

The Caterpillar The Butterfly The Human And A Lion.
Mental health issues.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I was born a baby human being and the world of men turned me into a Lion in my head because I was abused as a child and I saw a Lion in a nature book and it looked like it could fight against the human beings that bullied me.
As a child I couldn't fight against the world of men so I became a Lion in my head.
The child who acted like a Lion just got more powerful intrusive discipline and went off the rails. The adults sent the Lion child to a psychologist and the Lion child got more confused and very very angry at the world of men.
Quietly and privately the child nurtured an alternative mindset growing up as a secret Lion then he read the Lion the witch and the wardrobe and became a little nutcase but sincere and honest.
Today the Lion child is a man but also a little fat chubby Caterpillar and a Butterfly.
A Butterfly flies around in summer and finds a girlfriend Butterfly and they make love in a meadow then the mummy Butterfly has babies in the form of eggs underneath a leaf.
The mummy and daddy Butterfly die and so we wait for baby Butterflies.
The eggs hatch oh look it's about Caterpillars munching leaves crawling around the place getting fat.
Then these aliens want to sleep so they build a house and go bed.
Still no comparison to a Butterfly two totally different creatures with nothing in common a Caterpillar and a Butterfly have nothing in common with each other whatsoever.
Chrysalis breaks open and the Caterpillar is a Butterfly it flies and finds a girlfriend Butterfly and they have babies in the form of eggs underneath a leaf.
Guess what the babies are fucking Caterpillar babies and that is the same as mental health issues in human sweet beings my friends.
We either are Caterpillar babies or Butterfly babies we don't know that if life makes us change we are still the same thing we get scared but Mark Anthony Ward is here to tell you that you are ok.
Mental health issues are resolved by the explaining to you that you have temporarily become a tried and tested beautiful and relevant and useful and essential separate but connected version of yourself my beautiful friends ok?
Within us all are separate perceptions of our lives but we are our full selves at all times.
Life is complex and Harmony & Riley 2022 Potential Realised is here to ensure that you build an identity free of fear to explain and assist you with the life that is your own to enjoy.
Tumblr media
Some people think that they are beyond help no not at all I love you very much and I am more hopelessly fucked up than you are and you inspire me to do something amazing.
You taught me how much I appreciate your time and consideration and patience if you all are so mysterious and unfathomable then I must hold on to my life and not give up.
I think you The British Isles Citizens of Courage and Loneliness and Brilliance are Precious and Beautiful.
Tumblr media
Your families have recruited my heart and soul and spirit and body and we are going to celebrate you.
We will become the most expansive and most powerful and capable family of charitable support for our children and adults alike with disabilities in the world based in Great Britain.
If I am a Human Being and a Child and a Man a Butterfly and a Caterpillar all at the same time not to mention a Crazy Greatest Britain Lion and someone says that you have a mental health issue or a disability then send them to me.
Of all the anger hatred vengeance and the desire to fight against the tyranny of the corruption for all the personal vendetta against the Labour party politics for all the fourteen years of isolation and intimidation and the suffering do you know what the most important thing is I have learned?
Leann Harmony and Riley and Ruby Bella love me and I love them and as a family persecuted we have found our community and our nation culture and history we are a fraction of the suffering in Great Britain today and I have just got off the phone to another male Metropolitan Police officer call handler I am staggered at the love of white people. Two white men Metropolitan Police officers caring about me and my life I tell you what black boys and girls and men and women give white Metropolitan Police officer talent and all white Police officer talent in Great Britain today a try.
My mum is white and she never mentioned that my dad was black but oh my god my black family made sure I knew I was half white and white people were racist one and all well fuck that I am seriously fucked off so shut the fuck up about my white blood I am half white and will love white people.
I try to love black people but you are prejudiced against me.
All the very worst bullies at my secondary school have since approached me and shaken my hand in the pub Daniel Errington Steve Lacey Dan Smith Tony Andrews Danny Murphy white Boys now men who respect me and I always was half white.
They were not really bullies they were raised by a family of white people who said we are going to be sold out I am fucking so lucky to be mixed race truly I am.
I see it all every fucking little detail of reality.
When the black man was on the ropes I saw it and I acknowledged it politics in Great Britain today is trying to wipe out the white man I see it and I acknowledge it but you have a little problem.
The white man feared you so acted in a very hostile manner you ram that down his fucking throat fair enough do you think then you can carry on past the equal and opposite response and go over the fucking top and carry on whiter than the white man crying wolf in my fucking Great Britain today and trash my mother's white blood?
Fuck you.
Trashing white children and their families like they are shit on your fucking shoes my black brethren.
Well now the Yella Nigger in Great Britain today will fuck you right up.
You are the fucking racists today and I won't fucking have it and the white man best step aside and let me come through and deal with this political black on white racism because I will flatten you all and you know it.
White racism is no good but Fucking Black racism well well well that is special.
White left political people are stoking a black racism movement against white people who are not left wing woke world Labour party politics inclined.
White left people racist against white people weaponising blacks against whites on behalf of left wing woke world white people.
Whites weaponising blacks against whites.
So then a new level of racism.
youtube
I will talk some fucking sense into them.
I call myself black I can't be white when you whites attack whites and weaponise blacks against whites I will rock up and protect whites from black and white background corruption.
You will learn I also can be not black.
When the white man betrays the black man I will fight for the black man when the white man empowers war against his own kind and manipulates the black man I will come to protect black and white people by knocking the fucking heads off the corruption black or white I am both of you so don't fuck around with me.
I am not a genius I am not even clever not in the world of men but in my world of power and energy I am the elite warrior so I say this is my gift to the world of men.
The white man and the black man and everything in between means nothing to a new form of man who is changing your mind and soul and spirit and history and culture and traditions your future.
A white led force that can destroy and is destroying the world of men and is presenting the world of the white man as the reason for all the suffering and injustice in the world of anything and everything non white is gathering a force to take over the history of humanity by weaponising everything and misrepresenting non white against all other whites.
The black man cannot see that the force manipulating his hatred of whites is a new white evil more evil than any white evil before.
White people and black people are being managed and herded and manipulated by a new force of evil prejudice today.
Frankly they need a right good kicking and all their teeth knocked down their throats.
Mark Anthony Ward @ Harmony & Riley 2022 Potential Realised.

Steve Rogers x Reader
Kelsey Leanne Fischer was never one to back down from a challenge, which is why she was currently arguing with her Squad Leader Andrews, about which location should be scooped out first for her extraction mission. Kelsey worked for SHIELD as a field agent and was always amid the fighting. Andrews thought they should scope out another possible location based off some obtained information, but she knew that the enemy wouldn't hide their information there, especially since it was their previous sanctuary.
When Andrews sighed in defeat and shook his head in defeat, Kelsey could help but smile in victory. He sent her off with a 15-minute preparation time until the mission launch. She turned on her heel and ran down the halls grinning wickedly. She reached the locker room and unlocked her locker via fingerprint. Kelsey threw on her navy catsuit and her black steel-toed combat boots. Stuffing a couple of guns into her holsters and belt, knives onto her thigh holster and her favourite weapon of choice; electric batons. Finally, she was ready to leave for her mission.
Kelsey rushed out of the door to the locker room and was surprised when she walked into a person. She fumbled back but a strong arm grabbed her shoulders and steadied her. She looked up only to lose her breath. Her brown eyes met a pair of stunning blue ones. She followed the eyes to see a nicely tanned chiselled face, strong wide shoulders that were attached to toned arms and abs of steel. Then she finally realized who she bumped into, Steve Rogers, aka THE Captain America.
She held her breath and brushed a hand down her suit before apologizing, "I am so sorry, Mr. Rogers."
Steve Rogers just let out a chuckle and offered a hand, "It's no problem, ma'am. But please call me Steve." Kelsey firmly grasped his hand and offered a smile. Noticing his tight grip, she gripped his hard, all the while raising an eyebrow. With a final squeeze, he let go of her hand.
"Where are you going?" He asked her curiously, finally taking notice of the catsuit and weapons. Kelsey felt like a bucket of ice water had been dumped on her. Crap, she thought. Andrews is going to have my head. "I'm off to Quseir ‘Amra, Jordan for an extraction mission." Steve looked thoughtful for a minute, but she had no time to think much of it.
"It was nice to meet you, Steve! I'll see you around!" Kelsey shouts as she sprinted down the hallway. She found Andrews tapping his foot insistently on the floor. Well, someone's impatient, Kelsey thought.
"Hurry up, Agent. We have to get on the Quinjet and get out of here." He barked before shoving a tablet in her arms. She followed him onto the jet and took a seat across from him. Looking over the case files that she had seen a million times before.
"Quseir ‘Amra is desert fortress. There's a history of international threats hiding out in this fortress and using it as their compound." Andrews informed Kelsey and her squad. They all nodded and went back to doing their part in preparing for the mission. After an hour, their pilot shouted that they would be above their location in five minutes.
"Sir, there appear to be heat signatures in the building." The pilot said after using his infrared lens to scout the building.
Andrews nodded and moved up to the pilot’s seat, "How many?"
"There are many surrounding the entrances and all windows." Andrews gave a curt nod and turned around to face us. "Listen up! Grab all your weapons and we'll send you in, one -by - one," he pointed at Kelsey, "You're up first. Go through the east door, knock out any guards discretely." She nodded and pulled her batons out of her holder. The pilot opened the hatch to the jet and awaited the go signal. When it was given, she ran through the sand, not caring since her footsteps would disappear with the desert winds.
Finally, Kelsey reached the east side of the base. She peered out from behind the wall and noticed three huge guards stationed by the entrance. All three were equipped with various weapons but that wouldn't be a problem for Kelsey. She was quick to take them out, disarming and knocking them out. She lifted a finger to her ear and pressed on the comms unit, "East doors are secure." She quickly opened the door and stepped in with her batons raised. She was met with several guards, but she had the element of surprise on her side. Kelsey quickly punched the nearest guard, which sent him knocking into the next. Kelsey then attacked the next two with her batons, whacking them in the side then hitting them in the temple to knock them out. Now left with three more, she turned the voltage on her batons and threw it at one guard who was stupid enough to catch it. He convulsed violently and his hair stood up from the shock. He dropped the baton and collapsed to the group. The next two approached her more carefully and hesitantly. Kelsey rolled her eyes and made the first move. She went after the first guy, aiming one baton at his head and when he went to block, she punched him in the abdomen. He dropped on to one knee, grasping the area. Kelsey hit the other side of his abdomen and he dropped onto both knees. With a knee to the head, he was out clean. The last guy had learned from the others, so he made the first move. He would try to tackle her. In the spur of the moment, Kelsey brought her knee up once again but this time to his family jewels. He dropped like a rock and grabbed the area, moaning in pain. After securing that the area was clear, she reported back to Andrews, "east sector clear."
Kelsey followed Andrews instructions and found herself in some sort of large hall. There were filing drawers along the walls, filling the perimeter of the room. She approached one drawer and pulled it open. Inside was information about some SHIELD agents. Kelsey felt herself freeze. "Andrews we've got a problem." She quickly looked through the rest of the drawers and came upon her file. How the hell did they get this? It had information that she hadn't told SHIELD on it! She quickly grabbed the file and turned around but was met with the barrel of a gun. "Where do you think you're going, pretty lady?"
The man was wearing all black except for the red octopus on his right upper arm. HYDRA. He grabbed her harshly and dragged her to the center of the hall and forced her to her knees. The hall was soon crowded with HYDRA agents who piled in, all of whom looked at Kelsey in distaste. The rest of her team was soon brought in, all looking awful and grim. They looked to Kelsey for help and she gave them a discrete nod. The whole thing had been a setup, somehow, they were coming before they did. Andrews must be HYDRA. Kelsey thought. They were on their own now.
Kelsey was a quick thinker and raised a hand to her ear discretely like she was pushing her bangs out of her face. She quickly whispered just loud enough for the comms to hear, "it's a code zero. A HYDRA soldier influx. Reinforcements needed immediately." The message would be sent to a SHIELD team lead who hopefully wasn’t HYDRA.
The next thing that happened took them by surprise. The windows in the area all exploded and glass rained down on them. The locked doors blew open and gunshots fired in the hall. HYDRA soldiers turned their weapons on their enemy and fought for their cause. Meanwhile, Kelsey was grabbed ruffly by the arm by the guy who caught her. He pulled her up and used her as cover to those who threatened to shoot him. The barrel of the gun in his hand was pressed against her neck very uncomfortably. He started walking to the exit while she tried to squirm out of his deadly grip.
"Where do you think you're going?" Said the one and only Captain America. He had mysteriously appeared in front of them, blocking the only open exit. The HYDRA agent pushed the barrel farther into her neck, "Move or I'll shoot her!" Kelsey winced and tried moving her neck away, but he continued pushing it into her.
"Hey, hey. Let the woman go and we can settle this like men." The Captain tried to reason.
The man ignored him and spat, "you, a man?" his accent started to come out, "God's righteous man. You're a sorry excuse for a soldier." The man's eye twitched and moved the gun to shoot the Captain. The split-second decision resulted in Kelsey slamming her into her captor's foot and elbowing him sharply in the lung. He let go of her and she turned around and slammed her fist in his face. With a, cry he fell to the ground where Kelsey proceeded in kicking him in the groin. "Learn to respect your elders." She spat.
Steve Rogers looked up at her in surprise. Kelsey shrugged innocently and pulled her baton out of her belt. "You going to help fight or not?" He in turn, raised a blonde eyebrow but followed her, nonetheless. They fought together side-by-side, taking out the enemy like they were annoying mosquitoes. Soon enough the agents had been reprimanded and were being taken of care by the new SHIELD agents who would arrest them. Steve grabbed Kelsey's arm and pulled her out of the building and into an awaiting Quinjet. On the way, they passed Andrews, who gave Kelsey a dirty look. She just flipped him the bird and settled into the jet comfortably. Steve sat beside her, and they just talked about everything and nothing, in particular, getting to know each other. When the jet was about to land in SHIELD headquarters, Steve turned to the beautiful brunette beside him.
"Say, would you like to go on a date after this?"

Could Should Actually + A softer world 31 or Things you Said 22?
A/N: Are you the same anon who mix and matches other ask box events? Because let me just say, I enjoy the puzzle.
Anyway I went with the things you said 22, but I may also do the a softer world 31 later.
Here’s some Counterclockwise!
~
22) things you said after it was over
it could have gone like this:
"Imagine the glory," Joy exclaims in a breathy sort of voice as if in awe of the very idea. She slings an arm around Leanne's shoulders, drawing her close, comfortable and warm. The couch they're on could easily fit four, but the two of them are squished up against one arm so that the boys and even Alvin in his massive wolf form could fit, too.
"We wouldn't be able to tell anyone," Leanne argues even as she leans in, matching Joy's volume.
"The riches?" Joy tries again, grinning, more playful than earnest.
"Exactly how would we profit off this plan?" Leanne asks in return.
Thwarted, Joy goes for a different tactic. "Imagine... the drama," she says, leaning even closer, conspiratorially.
Leanne hums, considering. When the lack of disagreement becomes more and more apparent, time stretching wider, Joy's grin does the same. She swings her other arm around Leanne, squeezing, jostling, trying to bodily contain the happiness of the moment before nuzzling their faces together. Not quite a kiss, Joy's bared teeth pressed to the skin of Leanne's cheek, but not so far off.
Shrieking with laughter, Leanne doesn't push her away. "That's not fair! You know my weakness!"
"Of course," Joy says, words trapped between them, "I don't need to be fair, I just need you to say yes."
And Leanne, settling into her hold, can do nothing but nod and say yes.
...
Over two decades later, a fifteen year old Leanne follows the rest of her classmates through the art gallery, tired eyes glancing over the displays but not really taking them in. Yesterday was rough--school, training, a newly hatched cluster of giant sea serpents by the docks while trying not to lose too much face in front of her teammates--and she had been grateful for upcoming the field trip though now she regrets not being able to appreciate the art.
She finds a seat and takes it, her legs almost buckling in relief, and stares blindly forward.
"Do you like it?" someone asks next to her. Leanne, surprised but too exhausted to startle, turns to the voice. An older woman, maybe in her forties, brown hair tied back into a bun, sharp clothes. Maybe a staff member of the art gallery? They didn't have a tour guide, did they?
"I'm sorry," Leanne says, reflexively.
A sad sort of smile graces the woman's face, she shakes her head slightly. "Do you like it?" she repeats, gesturing to the painting on the wall in front of them. The one that Leanne had stared at but hadn't really seen. A little ashamed, she focuses.
It's a closeup of two hands, different skin tones and shapes, their fingers intertwined. There are matching rings, softly glinting in the light. Everything about the painting is soft, dreamy, more memory and imagination than photorealism.
Not the most amazing picture, Leanne thinks, but she can certainly see why it would be compelling. "Yes," she answers, finally, simply, though she doesn't know why it matters.
The woman's small smile twitches into something bigger, but no less sad.
Not that it was up for argument, but it's obvious that Leanne's not a very good hero: she doesn't know how to make things better. So she fidgets awkwardly instead.
Now the woman's smile turns into something amused. "I'm glad you like it. It's my favorite," she says before getting to her feet. She reaches a hand toward Leanne, as if to pat her on the shoulder, but pulls back.
"Take care of yourself, Leanne," she says, before walking away, disappearing into the labyrinth of the art gallery.
And because Leanne is not a very good hero, it takes her a few hours to realize that they never exchanged introductions. How did she know her name?
---
it should have gone like this:
"She's a liability," Tetsuki says, scowling at the doctor.
They are in the observation room of the testing chambers, a wide near-indestructible room where Doctor Kaiza's clients can use their meta-human abilities without fear of collateral damage.
Or where would-be vigilantes can train without the public catching on. Not that Henry particularly needs it. He is, despite all the media speculation, entirely baseline human. Most of Starling's tricks are gadgets and whatever he learned from his mentor Firefly.
But it's good to see what his potential teammates are capable of, and so here he is:
Caleb he knows the best, as much raised in the lifestyle as Henry had been. More so, maybe, practically born into it. Zenith, son of Apex.
Tetsuki he's met before, Doctor Kaiza's... niece? Maybe? The actual connection is vague. But he's seen some of the reports of her prior activities and her abilities. Electric manipulation, martial arts training, and a fierce protectiveness for all that she isn't the nicest of people.
Hari he only knows by word of mouth, the lone lion shapeshifter amongst a pack of wolves. Goldenheart, recommended by former hero Silverfang.
Right now, Hari is in lion form, a huge shape easily loping around in the testing chambers, big playful circles around the other figure below. At least, Henry is pretty sure it's playful. Although, considering the nervous posture of Goldenheart's chosen playmate, perhaps she doesn't understand the same.
Leanne Peridot. A civilian as of two weeks ago. Where and how Doctor Kaiza found her is a mystery. Why the doctor thought she'd make a good addition to the team is an even bigger mystery.
No martial arts training, no particular talent with any weapons, practically baseline human. The only thing that makes her stand out is that strange pocket watch and the one minute of time stopping it gives her, but if she can't do anything with that one minute then it's all just a waste. She's back to being a normal civilian out on the field.
"Tetsuki's right," Henry says, watching as Goldenheart bats a huge paw gently at Leanne, watches the green-haired girl fall to the ground, unable to brace herself against even an expected, friendly push. "She's a liability."
He doesn't say it to be mean, he says it to save lives. If she's just another civilian they have to keep an eye out for on the field, then they may as well tie a weight to themselves. They need teammates who can keep up, who can be trusted to handle themselves and more.
"Then help her," Doctor Kaiza says, "Train her. Give her the tools she needs to survive. The tools all of you had since you were children." Her voice is dispassionate, but her words give her away. "She is behind, yes, but the rest of you have a head start. She has the potential, help her access it."
"Why?" Caleb asks and while Tetsuki lights up in triumph, the doctor turns to him with a look of disappointment on her face. Henry also turns to look at him, confused. For all that Caleb is practically a living tank, he's usually the more diplomatic of them.
"I mean," he continues, "Why her? Why do you care? We're a functional enough team wth just the four of us. We don't need a fifth."
"Certainly not a fifth we need to bring up to our level," Tetsuki adds snidely.
The doctor turns back to the observation window, where Leanne has gotten back to her feet and begun to hesitantly run her hands through Hari's fur. The sound doesn't exactly travel, but from the satisfied closed eyes, Henry thinks perhaps there might be purring.
"Heroism," Doctor Kaiza says, followed by a silence long and drawn out. "It's not about being good at fighting," she says, "it's about saving people.
"And sometimes even the best need help."
...
When Leanne disappears, Henry investigates. Of course he does. That's his teammate. For all that she had a rocky beginning, Leanne proved herself as a hero and Henry isn't disloyal.
Tetsuki, ever the pessimist, thinks she ran. Finally giving in to Bastian, the absolute bastard, and his constant attempts to sway her to his cause. Whatever that cause may be. He's pretty sure Tetsuki only thinks that because two of Bastian's lieutenants are former classmates of hers, supervillains brewing right under her nose.
Caleb, more emotionally in tune, has been the contact for the Peridot family. Collaborating with them on their search, if she may have said anythign to them, left any hints or clues behind.
Unsurprisingly, Doctor Kaiza is calm.
Surprisingly, so is Hari.
"Why aren't you worried? What do you know?" Henry asks, finally, after all avenues of tracking have been exhausted. It would be more intimidating if he didn't have dark bags under his eyes, if Hari weren't capable of turning into a massive lion in the blink of an eye.
"I am worried," Hari says, "but it won't help her." Then the shapeshifter shrugs, "And I know the same as you."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Hm," Hari eyes drift away from his, "You remember the codename she came up with last year? Before you, Caleb, and Tetsuki shot it down."
Henry frowns. "What about it?" He remembers, of course. Leanne had wanted to be called Anachron. Thematically, it made sense, and it was witty enough. But it was a name that had already been used.
"Leanne isn't like us. She didn't grow up hearing stories about heroes, from heroes. The only context she had for names was us."
"So?"
Hari sighs, meets Henry's eyes, and says, "She was, is, Anachron. You shouldn't be looking for where she is. You should be looking for when."
---
but it actually went like this:
"They sent me through time and cursed me with immortality on top of that, so I'd appreciate it if you would bring me home, time witch." Bastian, the absolute bastard, says across the table from Leanne. A beautiful tea service is set up, delicate finger foods and porcelain, shining silverware gleaming against a rich tablecloth. It is a mockery; as Bastian sips from his teacup, Leanne struggles against the ties keeping her bound to the chair.
"I'm not a time witch," Leanne says, exasperated. At him and herself. Him because this is not the first, or second, or even third time this has happened. Herself because... well... this is not the first, second, or event third time this has happened. A part of her is glad her team is on the way to get her out of this. A far larger, more frustrated part of her hates that she needs her team to get her out of this yet again.
"Sorcerer, warlock, wizard, I don't care what terms you people use nowadays. Time magic, you use it, therefore you are a time witch." Bastian waves away her words, equally dismissive in his tone. He, it seems, is as bored of this conversation as she is.
"I don't use time magic," Leanne protests, because even if just sends them down the same patterns, she doesn't know what else to do but be honest.
"Not well, certainly," Bastian agrees, sort of, "but time witches were rare even in my kingdom. Here, you're apparently the only one, so you'll have to do."
Leanne, insulted and irritated, sighs.
"Is this a problem of payment? Because if its a reward you need, I can cover that. What do you want, money? Fame? Power?" Bastian lists out, resting his chin on one hand, a king in repose.
Leanne shakes her head.
"Something more than that, hm? Or a combination of the three?" Bastian meets her eyes and smirks, a sharp and hungry thing. "I'll make you my queen, time witch. Bring me home and the world could be yours."
Leanne just shakes her head again.
Annoyed, Bastian's face turns into a thunderous scowl. He stands, slamming his hand on the table, the tea set rattling with the force of it.
"You will not refuse me again, time witch," he says, low with rage and barely contained violence.
Having witnessed the scope of his abilities, it is a miracle Leanne's voice doesn't shake when she responds, "Then stop asking."
A reverberating boom sounds, the tea set once more rattling, and Leanne resist the urge to close her eyes in relief. Her team is here to rescue her, but she refuses to take her eyes off Bastian.
He bares his teeth, displeased at her, the situation, but quickly composes himself. "Until next time," he says, and almost laughs at his own play on words.
...
The restraints they've put on her are tight, though thankfully not painful, the chair is far from comfortable, she has a bit of a headache, and the interrogation room is a little cold: it's not the best set of circumstances she's ever found herself in, but they're certainly not the worst.
When the grumpy officer who brought her here returns, he finds her lightly dozing, trying to catch up on the years and years of sleep debt she's accrued. It's not likely to succeed but, again, she's been in worse places.
"Leanne Peridot?" the officer says. It's not really a question, they took her a picture, her fingerprints, and DNA. They should know who she is.
"Yep."
"Also known as Anachron?"
"Sure."
"Also known as the Time Witch?"
"Ye--no, actually," Leanne says, catching herself, "I do not claim that one."
Officer Grumpyface looks up at her, "You don't?"
"No," she says, "Nobody calls me that." Or, at least, not in a way that would make it into her official file.
Grumpyface shrugs, uncaring. "You've done quite a bit of unauthorized time traveling, haven't you?"
Leanne can feel her brow furrow, "Who has authority over time travel?"
Grumpyface looks behind him at the observation window before turning back to her. He doesn't say anything.
Instead, the door to the interrogation room opens, a man in a similar, if far fancier and impressive, uniform to Officer Grumpyface enters the room. Grumpyface stands up at attention, saluting the newcomer.
It's an older face than the one she remembers. No more false boyish sweetness, but a chiseled sort of handsomeness instead. There are a few age lines, some grey in his hair. But considering it's several centuries since they last spoke, Bastian, the absolute bastard, has barely changed.
She sighs, resigned. "Bastian."
"Hello, Time Witch."
~
A/N: Making Leanne miserable since... uh... I don’t know, it’s time travel. :D

It's a Love Story: The History of Taylor Swift's Fiercely Tight Bond With Her Parents
by NATALIE FINN Aug. 13, 2019
Taylor Swift has gotten a ton of musical mileage out of the romantic relationships that have come and gone in her life, but those guys haven't been the truly essential players in her journey to the top of the pop star pyramid.
Instead, it's Scott and Andrea Swift, Taylor's parents, who have championed their daughter since day one, believing in her so much that they left their palatial house in Reading, Penn., for Nashville, where a determined 14-year-old Taylor felt she had to be to make her dream a reality.
Talking to CMT, she said her parents weren't just indulging her for the sake of being supportive. "My parents actually believed it," she said.
Before her Reputation Tour touched down in Philadelphia last year, she took a few friends to visit her childhood home, a Christmas tree farm in Wyomissing, where the new owners were apparently happy to let the famous former resident in to take a look at her old room.
"I went to the house I grew up in. I got emotional when I went into my bedroom, and there's another little girl's things in there," Swift told the sold-out crowd one night at Lincoln Financial Field. "It's not my family farm anymore. We sold it when we went to Nashville. I've been thinking about how cool it is to be back where I started writing songs."
She told CMT that, back in the day, her parents never pushed her, but "I would not leave them alone."
Taylor was barely out of grade school when Andrea Swift (née Gardner Finlay) first took her to Nashville to drop off the CDs she had made of her singing karaoke with record labels, having seen in documentaries about Shania Twain and LeAnn Rimes that Music City, U.S.A., was where she needed to be.
"My mom waited in the car with my little brother while I knocked on doors up and down Music Row," Swift recalled to Entertainment Weekly in 2008. "I would say, 'Hi, I'm Taylor. I'm 11; I want a record deal. Call me."'
Well, the world wasn't ready for it just yet.
"She came back from that trip to Nashville and realized she needed to be different, and part of that would be to learn the guitar," Andrea told EW. "Now, at 12, she saw a 12-string guitar and thought it was the coolest thing. And of course we immediately said, 'Oh no, absolutely not, your fingers are too small—not till you're much older will you be able to play the 12-string guitar.'
"Well, that was all it took. Don't ever say never or can't do to Taylor. She started playing it four hours a day—six on the weekends. She would get calluses on her fingers and they would crack and bleed, and we would tape them up and she'd just keep on playing. That's all she played, till a couple of years later, which was the first time she ever picked up a six-string guitar. And when she did, it was like, 'wow, this is really easy!'"
Swift performed in venues all over Pennsylvania, wherever she could get a gig, and wrote her little heart out.  She went back to Nashville at 13 and got a development deal at RCA Records, which she declined to re-up after a year, wanting to record only songs that she had a hand in writing. At 14 she became the youngest person in the roster at Sony/ATV Publishing.
Tumblr media
So, the whole family—Scott, Andrea, Taylor and her brother, Austin Swift—eventually relocated to Hendersonville, about 20 miles outside Nashville, in 2003. But they didn't explicitly put it that way at the time.
"I knew I was the reason they were moving," Taylor later told Self. "But they tried to put no pressure on me. They were like, 'Well, we need a change of scenery anyway,' and 'I love how friendly the people in Tennessee are.'"
"I never wanted to make that move about her 'making it,"' Andrea explained to EW. "Because what a horrible thing if it hadn't happened, for her to carry that kind of guilt or pressure around. And we moved far enough outside Nashville to where she didn't have to be going to school with producers' kids and label presidents' kids and be reminded constantly that she was struggling to make it. We've always told her that this is not about putting food on our table or making our dreams come true.
"There would always be an escape hatch into normal life if she decided this wasn't something she had to pursue. And of course that's like saying to her, 'If you want to stop breathing, that's cool.'"
Swift ended up fatefully signing with Big Machine Records, run by Scott Borchetta, who had just left Universal Music Group to start his own label.
"They only had 10 employees at the record label to start out with, so when they were releasing my first single, my mom and I came in to help stuff the CD singles into envelopes to send to radio," Taylor recalled to EW. "We sat out on the floor and did it because there wasn't furniture at the label yet."
Meanwhile, Scott and Andrea—formerly a marketing manager at an advertising agency—had already set up Taylor's website and MySpace page (with Taylor writing her bio, updates and responses to fans herself, of course).
"The mom and dad both have great marketing minds," Rick Barker, Swift's manager at the time, told EW. "I don't want to say fake it until you make it, but when you looked at her stuff, it was very professional even before she got her deal."
Tumblr media
Andrea said that her daughter relished the recognition, the selfie requests and the otherwise positive attention from fans of her music, "but she never in her life ever said, 'I want to be famous' or 'I want to be rich' or 'I want to be a star.' Those words absolutely never came out of her mouth. If they had, I would have said, 'Honey, maybe you're doing it kind of for the wrong reasons.'
"For her, the happiest I ever see her is just after she's written a killer song. As a parent, I felt really good about that. If that's where she draws happiness from, she'll have that the rest of her life. She's not always gonna have the awards, or the attention, or the celebrity, but she will always have the ability to write a song."
Swift has credited her mother for instilling in her the importance of maintaining her independence, financial and otherwise, saying, "She raised me to be logical and practical. I was brought up with such a strong woman in my life and I think that had a lot to do with me not wanting to do anything halfway."
Tumblr media
Andrea's mother, Marjorie Finlay, was a professional opera singer and a magnetic presence in every room—a quality Taylor shared with her grandma, Scott Swift once said. "The two of them had some sort of magic where they could walk into a room and remember everyone's name," he said. "Taylor has the same grace and physique of Andrea's mother."
Taylor described her dad, meanwhile, as "just a big teddy bear who tells me everything I do is perfect." That being said, she added, "business-wise, he's brilliant."
Once Taylor's career started to take off, Scott, who had relocated his business to Nashville, stayed in town with Austin while Andrea accompanied their daughter on tour, helping her finish high school on the road.
Tumblr media
"She was always singing music when she was 3, 5, 6, 7 years old," Scott, an investment banker with Merill Lynch who ran The Swift Group under the company's umbrella, told the University of Delaware's UDaily in 2009. "It's Taylor doing what she likes to do." (When she was quite little, Taylor recalled, she would tell people she was going to be a financial advisor, even though she didn't know what that meant.)
"We had a kid that was really passionate about it," he said. Getting that first deal at 13 "was the confirmation that maybe she wasn't crazy, because her writing is why she got it."
Swift was 16 when her self-titled debut album came out in October 2006. Less than a year later, she opened for Brad Paisley at the Allentown Fair, a big-ticket gig in her home state.
While "Tim McGraw," her first-ever single, eventually drew the most attention, her second single, "Teardrops on My Guitar," was her first top-15 single (peaking at 13) and the next, "Our Song," became her biggest hit on country radio to date, her first No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Scott Swift hasn't had to do much lately when it comes to Taylor's ridiculously successful career, but he helped out where he could early on (not including the unconfirmed reports that he advised Harry Styles to not rush things when he and Taylor started dating). He told UDaily that he helped arrange Taylor's prime-time gig singing the national anthem during Game 3 of the 2008 World Series, a home game for the Philadelphia Phillies (who went on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays in five games). Scott went to college with the Phillies' facilities manager.
"The reason she sang the anthem is because two University of Delaware alumni kept in touch over the years," Scott told the paper. But as time went on, Taylor's reputation preceded her. "I've heard from a lot of great alumni, and I'm convinced they live in every city, because whenever Taylor's rolling into wherever she is, we'll hear from them," her dad said. "It's really powerful."
Scott and Andrea are hardly the unsung heroes of Taylor's life, though—quite the opposite, in fact.
Tumblr media
You'd have been forgiven for assuming that "The Best Day," off of 2008's Fearless, centers on the father-daughter bond (going by the line "I have an excellent father / His strength is making me stronger"), but it's really a sweeping ode to Andrea, the one who waited in the car while tween Taylor knocked on doors.
"'The Best Day' is a song that I wrote without telling my mom," Swift shared in 2011. "I wrote it in the summertime, and I recorded it secretly, too. I had this idea that I wanted to play it for her for Christmas. So, when I got the track I synced up all of these home videos from when I was a little kid to go along with the song like a music video, and played it for her on Christmas Eve and she was crying her eyes out."
She eventually had to stop playing it live because Andrea was always dissolving into tears backstage.
Tumblr media
Taylor continued, "Remembering all the times that we had when she was my only friend when I was 13 and I couldn't understand why my friends were being so mean to me. She would just take me on these adventures and we would drive around and go to towns we'd never seen before.
"Those adventures and those days of just running away from my problems—you're not supposed to run away from your problems, but when you're 13 and your friends won't talk to you and they move when you sit down at the lunch table, and your mom lets you run from those problems, I think it's a good thing... My mom was my escape in a lot of ways."
Andrea recalled the days when Taylor's friends seemed to be turning on her, telling Elle Girl she'd have to "pick [Taylor] up off the floor," she was hurting so badly.
When she was 21 she bought her parents a $1.4 million house in Nashville, around the same time she bought her first house in Los Angeles.
By 2011, the Taylor road show ran like a well-oiled machine, in no small part because of Andrea's watchful eye.
"Well, you know, she's just been doing this for so long that, to me, this is just like soccer practice," Swift's mom shrugged to the New Yorker in a 2011 profile.
After which Scott quipped, "I'm not taking her money, if that's what you're saying."
The writer noted that at least either her mom or dad was at every show that she attended, but Taylor said that they were "staying home more" than they used to.
Tumblr media
Through the years, Andrea has become a familiar face to everyone who follows Taylor's career, from the Swifties to the paparazzi, but neither mother nor daughter has made a habit of sharing too much personal information about their family—and they, unlike some celebrities' parents, Andrea and Scott haven't been clamoring to share the spotlight.
So it was only under the greatest of emotional strains that Swift shared in 2015 that Andrea was battling cancer.
"Usually when things happen to me, I process them and then write music about how I feel, and you hear it much later," Swift wrote on Tumblr. "This is something my family and I thought you should know about now." She explained how she had encouraged her mom to go to the doctor, "just to ease some worries of mine. She agreed, and went in to get checked. There were no red flags and she felt perfectly fine, but she did it just to get me and my brother off her case about it. The results came in, and I'm saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer."
Tumblr media
Part of the message was to explain why Andrea wouldn't be at as many shows as usual, so enmeshed she was in the Taylor tour fabric.
"I'd like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know," Swift explained. "She wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything they've got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle."
A little over a week later, Andrea introduced her daughter at the Academy of Country Music Awards, where Taylor was one of seven being honored with the Milestone Award.
"I've watched this milestone artist from the time she was a tangled-hair little girl...Full of imagination and creativity until right now when she prepares for her next world tour," Mama Swift said. Tears starting to build, she concluded, "I'm a very proud mom."
The whole family gathered a month later to cheer Austin's graduation from Notre Dame.
Tumblr media
On Mother's Day in 2015, Taylor personally responded to a message from a fan who had lost her own mom and was understandably having a rough day. The singer wrote back on Tumblr, "I love you so much and can't imagine what you must be feeling today. You've lived through my worst fear. I'm so sorry you can't spend today with her. It's not fair, and there's no reason why you should feel okay about it. No one should ever expect you to feel normal today."
Andrea sightings did become less frequent, but when she was spotted (having dinner with Taylor and Tom Hiddleston in L.A. in the summer of 2016, for instance), she looked like her usual self. And in 2017 she was by Taylor's side in Colorado when her daughter's dueling lawsuits with a D.J. she had accused of groping her went to trial.
Andrea testified that Taylor had told her right away that the D.J.—who sued Swift for $3 million after he was fired over the incident, after which she countersued, alleging sexual assault—had grabbed her butt while they were taking a photo during a meet-and-greet in 2013.
Explaining why they didn't immediately report him to police, Andrea said, "I did not want her to have to live through the endless memes and GIFs and anything else that tabloid media or trolls would be able to come up with...making her relive this awful moment over and over again."
"I was upset to the point where I wanted to vomit and cry at the same time," she added. "We felt it was imperative to let his employers know what happened."
The jury decided in Swift's favor, awarding her the symbolic $1 in damages she had asked for.
Tumblr media
Andrea successfully completed treatment, but Swift revealed in March in her "30 Things I Learned Before Turning 30" essay for Elle that the cancer had returned. And, she shared for the first time that her dad had battled cancer as well.
"Both of my parents have had cancer, and my mom is now fighting her battle with it again," she wrote. "It's taught me that there are real problems and then there's everything else. My mom's cancer is a real problem. I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs. I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now."
Still, the now almost 30-year-old artist—winner of 10 Grammys, seller of millions of albums—won't go into too much detail when it comes to her parents' personal lives.
"There was a relapse that happened," Swift told Vogue for its 2019 September issue when asked about her mom's health. "It's something that my family is going through."
And that's a whole other kind of love story.

Well, what a day! 27 degrees in London Town.
Tumblr media
With the top logistical team on hand to work out how it is physically safe legal and possible to leave DDD on a Friday night and arrive in Liverpool Sunday evening pre show, via London. Car 🚗 was the chosen method of transport for this final delta phase tour leg. Parked (abandoned) in Shepherd’s Bush and a tube ride to the hotel on Friday night. Let the games begin.
Saturday morning. Arrival at the closest tube station Mile End. There was indeed a ‘Mile’ End to walk to the outer entrance of Victoria Park.
First excitement of the day was purchasing food (McDonalds) from Uber Eats, let’s hope number 354 Old Ford Road didn’t mind me hijacking their address! On the ‘rate my food’ app we gave the five thumbs rating 👍👍👍👍👍 for hotness delivery and all round service. It was indeed the filth on a *plate we needed to survive the day. *plate not included. Nor napkins.
We meet a lovely new couple, Seth and Linda all the way from New Jersey. Flying in for the gig and anniversary weekend! Waves hello to both. A sneaky croissant 🥐 consumed and we were ready to rumble.
The gate time was 1pm the lanes in snaked about 1/2 mile. Tickets scanned body wanded and I was in. Everyone seemed to have a different security experience. Mine was easy others less so.... no outside food allowed inside the park. Security questioned the validity of a tube of factor 50 sunscreen with the need to squeeze some out to validate that it was not food! And I had to pass the sniffer dog twice once on the right side but that was wrong, so had to come in from the left! But the good news was we got the Bourbon biscuits and haribo sweets in. Result. As we walked and not ran towards East Stage there was not a throng of us, just a few trickling through.
Stage set up with the runway style. Barrier spot secured we all set up camp for the day. It was such a relaxed day. Toilet breaks, American Express upgrade wrist bands, 99 Mr Whippy, water from security staff, and Tango all purchased. It was a hot and dusty day. Hay fever aplenty for some. *sneeze*
At 1.45, Mosa Wild opens up the day: great band. And a great 👍 cover of ‘the whole of the moon’.
It was like a flash back to Australia as next was GRETTA RAY and band. Yes, you’ve guessed it, sporting a lacey, off the shoulder red top with cropped flared jeans (newly purchased that day, and Greta commented ‘hard to sit in’! ). Gretta and new band sound great. I should point out that the crowd was still on the light side...... still good access to all amenities!
Tamino Amir brought a different sound to the afternoon. Personally I liked it, others less so. I found the Egyptian style chanting relaxing and rather haunting. The keyboard player borrowed my look for the show.... the problem was the drum was so loud it vibrated down to the field (to the core of the earth in-fact) and even the confetti on the floor was in ear pain.
Post Tamino we had to seek out an emergency round of slush puppies. E numbers and coolness in a plastic cup personified! Lifesavers. Shame about the sturdiness of the paper straw. FYI don’t go for strawberry 🍓! Stick with “raspberry”. Blue is best.
Jade Bird was the up beat kinda gal we needed. Clearly she missed the memo on the weather, wearing a baby blue two piece suit. Belting out some great tunes and loving every minute of it. There was a good crowd for Jade and lots of fans.
Has anyone seen the Vaccines!? They brought it to the park. The party was really warming up. Justin prowling the stage like the true front man he is. They have some anthems. It was during this performance that a chant of ‘ooooh Jeremy Corbynn!’ started behind us, as we turn around there was this 60 something bloke up on the shoulders of someone, virtually crowd surfing! Funny as! His appearance was akin to the Labour Party leader hence the chanting! Funny. Security quickly beckoned him down!
Ok now brace yourself and batten down the hatches. It’s Dizzee Rascal time. By now the pit was 50% fuller of security.... be prepared. Dizzee’s dj was setting up with large screen backdrop for visual effects. Screen number 2.7 clearly giving issues! Well. What a party 🥳 Dizzee knows how to throw it! We did indeed dance and throw some serious moves. It was a little “bonkers” with some serious moshing happening. A few drinks flying around. But security had it all covered. I have to say I loved it. Not really my scene but what a great 60 mins. Never seen so many security staff ‘secretly’ videoing Dizzee during the set!!
The madness ebbed away after Dizzee and normality resumed. All was well.
And we’ve made it to showtime!!!!! Having sneaked a look at a security list we could see Guiding Light was the opener, so no 42, despite the runway.
As the sun set the show starts! A feel-good vibe from the start. Marcus leapt from the amp down along the runway for the end of Guiding light. The chaps soon followed for LLM, straight into the Cave.
Believe had pyro action. And many lights around the crowd quite a spectacle. Ditmas run, Marcus helped out a female member of the audience who either got caught up in the action or felt faint.
Lots of signs, lots of wings, some of them 🦇 bat wings.
Beloved was played with The Staves and sounded particularly emotional. What a sweet sound.
B stage at the end of the runway. Marcus saying they hadn’t done a quiet B stage at a festival before, (memories of Hyde Park?!) Wild Heart, White Blank into Forever, joined by Gretta.
Picture you and Darkness Visible were dropped from the setlist and the pyro! I guess to keep the pace up.
Woman! Seems to be staying in the set. One comment, the red stage lights make it really hard to satisfactorily video!
Rose of Sharon! We loved it. They band looked like they were having a blast playing it. Marcus dancing and spinning and smiling away. It was special.
Marcus saying cover your ears if you don’t want to know the football result.....Liverpool won 2 nil! We have mixed emotions about this news...but that’s so tomorrow.
‘Friends’ popped back into the setlist to round off the night with Gretta, Jade, Leanne Lehavas, The Staves, some vaccines, Dermot Kennedy all joining in the singsong! Such a warm ending to a FAB day!
After a long day, what we really needed was a long sit down on a comfy sofa. What we got was a 1 and a half hours walk to the tube station one stop down from Mile End. Mike End was rammed and the queue was epically long. And not a fake merch seller in sight.
We bid a fond farewell to Seth and Linda. Thanks for your company and kindness. See you again sometime somewhere on the road (hopefully soon). What an epic day!
