MAN! THIS EPISODE! I'll have better thoughts tomorrow but Marisha coming back to the table with that "I think it's all up to you, darling." and then Imogen getting the HDYWTDT on Delilah (with THIRTY-THREE lightning damage!) gave me CHILLS, it was so poetic! Imogen, who has been told to run her whole life, Imogen, who has been running her whole life, standing down and fighting unknowable ancient evils for the person she loves. I might just dissociate for an hour if I start thinking about them too much right now. 🥺

Why do you call Percy an ugly duckling? Or what objectively makes him an ugly duckling? Genuinely curious here, but I find it really funny.
It's less that he actually is an ugly duckling and more that he feels it, compared to those around him, if that makes sense.
I mean... think about it from his perspective - of all his family he's the least sociable, he's the seond son, third child, and he keeps to himself and his studies. He's not an attractive proposition to most and likely he feels alienated from his classmates and other peers due to the fact he's almost certainly leaped ahead out of any kind of standard shared schooling the children of Whitestone's upper classes had and onto private tutoring with Anders. He's not sociable and friendly or capable or perhaps even witty for some time - of all of his siblings he's the de Rolo guests don't want to be sat beside at formal dinners. Sure he might grow up to being a de Rolo in the expected way, but he likely doesn't fit the general mould, right?
Next: the Briarwoods. The torture. The shock and trauma. Percy is covered with scars, both inside and out, and even if he can hide his physical scars with his clothing, he can't hide the shock-white hair he now has. He stands out and not in a good way.
And then, with VM. Scanlan is fully capable of being charming - he's charismatic as all hell - and Pike is just... sweet and lovely and capable of jokes that take you out at the knees. Grog is huge and muscled and strong which is absolutely some people's type, Keyleth and the twins are half-elves and are naturally quite striking from that, and Tiberius - well either you no longer consider him canon and so he doesn't matter or you do and, well he's a dragonborn - he's pretty striking too.
Percy, meanwhile, is human - boring, standard, one of the most common races in Tal'Dorei. He's got trauma-white hair, a whole load of physical scars, severe trauma he's refusing to acknowledge, a tendency to blow himself up with his own inventions. He's not very sociable - he doesn't really start to talk a huge degree that we see until the Briarwood Arc* - he can be abrasive and abrupt and strange early on, he doesn't know how to socialise in the loose casual way the group tends to even after a year or so with them for all that he's good at formal socialising.
Percy's exact appearance is unclear - we know he almost certainly has scars, we know the white hair. From the official campaign art he's depicted with quite a round face but small features - he can look almost pinched. From the comics he has a longer, narrower face but still, thin lips, narrow nose. Again, his is a face that can easily look pinched. (Note: I am ignoring the TLOVM depiction as I prioritise the Campaign itself in my fic and meta, but he is again, quite long-and-narrow faced.) And… well, it's often easier to be critical of one's own appearance.
He likely doesn't feel he has any of the same appeal the rest of the group do, aside, perhaps, from his noble birth which is itself a dangerous prospect to bring up, and he considers his white hair a mark of what he went through and therefore traumatic and not in any way striking. He's not as socially able - Scanlan charms, Keyleth and Pike are earnest, Grog is straightforward, Tiberius blusters and bowls people over, Vex is Vex and Vax has his own earnest kind of approach that wins people over. He's just... awkward.
So... as @chamerionwrites first suggested to me, I think Percy thinks of himself as the ugly duckling of the group. I think it may be a minor factor in why he thinks someone like Vex could never love him - but only minor. In comparison to the things he's done and the guns he's made, appearance is very low down the list and I think his reaction would be more bafflement that Vex is choosing him when she could pick from just about anyone else if she so chose. After all, Vex is canonically hot - from everyone's comments on-stream and Laura Bailey's own attestation for the description she gave Kit Buss for the official art which was simply that Vex is hot/sexy.
tl;dr: Percy isn't necessarily a genuinely ugly duckling, but I think there's very good odds that he feels as though he is.
*Which is why I think people should start at the beginning because the Briarwood Arc doesn't hit the same way without the DRASTIC shift in Percy's behaviour and so many people characterise him wrong because they're only going on the Briarwood Arc. I have Opinions, okay?

“Some people think that death is a rebirth, that something must end for something new to begin” - Jester Lavorre, from Critical Role, made by Laura Bailey
Reed900 Thoughts: Bad Guy/Mob AU Regrets and Consequences
Gavin ran a hand through his hair hissing at the pain he felt on his arm. The son of a bitch was tougher than he thought, he leaned his head back his warm breath curling on his mouth, gathering up his courage before he looked to the side. Tina stared back at him, fear in her brown eyes as she pointed a gun at him.
“Gav…”
He gave her sad smile, “Hey, T.”
“You’re alive…” she said breathlessly putting her gun away quickly
You should keep pointing that gun at me, it would make me feel better is what Gavin thought to say but he just hummed and bent down to pick up his coat beside the dead body of Tina’s adversary, throwing it over his shoulder. Their...her colleagues were dead because of him and his actions, he doesnt have the right to face her.
This…this isn’t how he wanted her to see him, he doesn’t even want her to see him, period. The friend she knew was no more, that Gavin Reed was dead. Just like his honor, his pride and his identity. All washed away by the river when he faked his death.
Stubborn as ever, Tina stood up her knees shaking walking over to him. Gavin took a few steps back grimacing at the tears in her eyes. Her deadliest weapon, “Gavin?”
He turned away from her abruptly, not wanting to see her face, or he’ll give. “I’m sorry T. I have to go, try not to wander around this area and tell Chris too.”
“W-What?”
“There’s a war happening under your noses and I don’t want either of you to get involved.” Gavin said and started to walk away, the pinpricks in his chest was crawling down his arm. This was just from the blow he blocked, its not because he wanted to hug Tina to him after all these years. He heard footsteps coming from behind him and he closed his eyes tight.
Don’t T. Don’t come to me.
Before she could reach out to grab his elbow, Gavin was pulled against a firm chest and he looked up to see Nines’ steel blues searching his. The bastard was scanning him. Nines slowly raised his head, freezing Tina where she was as his eyes glowed red.
“Don’t tin can, she’s good. She’s…was my friend.”
Tina stopped in her tracks her eyes wide. “What are you talking about? Gavin! We’re still friends.”
Gavin sighed and looked over his shoulder with Nines now placing himself perfectly to block Tina’s view of him, “We aren’t, Officer Chen. I’m on the other side of the law.”
“No you’re not! You’re lying…you…”
Gavin snorted, “You’re smarter than that. I know that you know who I am now. You’re gonna take your detective exam soon. I just know you’ll pass it.” He shook his head, clearing his throat as he felt it becoming hoarse from emotion. “I’m sorry, this is what I am now…” he smirked, “Hope I don’t see you after this or our guns would find its uses.”
They stepped into the car that came skidding to a halt in front of them. As soon as the car left, Gavin buried his face in his hands, “Fuck.” Of all the people that would see him, of all the people in the force that they would have sent. It’s her. He’s thankful Chris wasn’t here either or he’s going to have a hard time.
“Do you regret it?” Nines asked cautiously, they both know that the DPD was a touchy subject. He was fortunate that Nines could take a hint better than most of their men.
Gavin sighed, and turned his head towards his bodyguard, “There’s a lot of things I regret tin can, be specific.”
NInes gave him a look that Gavin laughed at before giving him that shit eating grin, “No…but if in another world…if I wasn’t terminated, and you came along, maybe things would be different.”
Nines hummed, “I wonder how insufferable that Gavin would be.”
“Oh horrible! You’d want to kill me every chance you get, I would be a real piece of work.”
“You already are, Gavin.”
Gavin laid back on the seat putting his arm to cover his eyes, “But whoever that Gavin Reed could be is dead, he doesn’t exist anymore.”
Nines hummed, “A rebirth then, it may not be as good as before or bad as before, but you were given a choice, you have control of your life and it’s up to you to decide what you’d like to do with it.” Nines looked out the window over the passing landscape, “Not all of us had a chance to choose their path.”
Gavin sighed, “You’re right, sorry.”
Nines raised a brow at him, “Why are you apologizing?”
“Are you talking about how I forced you to be my bodyguard with your quote or some shit.” Gavin said not looking at him, though Nines could tell the increase in his heart rate.
“You didn’t force me to do anything. You asked, I made a choice. Why are you-.”
“Sentimentality.”
Nines huffed, “Now I see why you don’t want it.”
“Mmmmm...it’s a weakness.”
NInes moved a little closer taking Gavin’s hand in his, “A weakness I’m willing to cover for you as always.”
Gavin snarled trying to pry his hands away from the android, who only held it down on his lap. A reaction. Nines was going for. “As always? Fuck you.”
“Later.” Nines smirked making the man protest even more

ONE HUNDRED THIRTY SEVEN - HAPPILY EVER AFTER (1)
LEGACY: A Tony Stark Daughter Story
FULL STORY MASTERLIST
ENDING ONE MASTERLIST
< previous
Word Count: 2,730ish
Summary: A happily ever after just might be in the cards for the Team after all.
~~~
And oh was Peggy right. Luckily, in the Afterlife, aging isn’t a thing.
It was about thirty years before I noticed a light turn on in the house next door. I was walking along the beach, thinking about my family and what they might be doing, when I noticed a light turn on. Curious, I slowly made my way over to the house. Climbing onto the back porch, I could hear voices talking inside.
“It’s been so long,” Maria’s voice rang out in a joyful cry.
“I know,” a male voice said.
The voice caused me to freeze. I hadn’t heard that voice in a long time. Far too long. Tears beginning streaming down my face as I tried to will myself to move but couldn’t. The world around me became muted, I couldn’t focus on anything. That lead to me not being able to hear the door open or my name being called repeatedly. Everything finally came into focus when a hand rested on my cheek and a met warm brown eyes.
“Bailey, sweetheart,” Tony called. “Can you hear me?”
“Dad?” I whimpered.
“It’s me, sweetheart.” Tears formed in his eyes as he smiled. “It’s me.”
Tumblr media
“Dad.” My knees gave way but Tony quickly caught me and gently guided us to the ground. He pulled me into his chest, holding me tightly. “You’re here.”
“I’m here, honey. I’m right here.”
“I’ve missed you so much. It’s been too long.”
“Way too long.” He held a kiss to my forehead. “And I’ve missed you more.”
After calming me down, Tony then told me about the last thirty years that I had missed out on. Morgan grew into a wonderful woman. She married and had three children, naming one of them after me. The Avengers were still going, now with Peter in charge. The original Avengers had all retired and, if they had children, their children were running the program.
“That’s all so amazing,” I stated once Tony was finished. It hadn’t gone unnoticed by me that he hadn’t mentioned Steve. “I— I missed so much.”
Tony’s hand rested against my cheek. “I wish you had been there, B, for everything. I really do. We all were constantly missing you. Especially your Old Man and, well, your other Old Man.”
I chuckled. “How’s Steve?”
“Him and Morgan are attached at the hip. Have been ever since you died. Morgan’s husband even felt the need to ask him for her hand after asking me.” I laughed. “We were both terrifying the first time he came to pick her up. We thought he was going to shit his pants and never come back. She even had us both walk her down the aisle.  Mo’s kids call him Uncle Steve. They all adore each other. I built him a house near by, but he basically lives with us.”
“Did— Did he ever—“
“He never married.” Tony looked me right in the eyes. “Told everyone he was waiting for the right partner… He told Morgan and her kids stories about you, all the time. Steve never stopped loving you.”
“And I’ve never stopped loving him.”
Pepper joined us a little more than three years later. After that, they seemed to come pretty fast. Rhodey was next. Then Happy and Aunt May. Clint and his wife, Laura, were the next to join us. Natasha came after Sam. Bucky and Steve took longer, due to the serums. Bucky showed up first, with no guesses to when Steve was going to show. He told us it could be days or it could be years. It turned out to be a few months after.
I was out on the beach, a flowy yellow dress on, blowing in the wind with my feet in the water.
Tumblr media
The sun was beginning to set. Pepper found Steve first, calling everyone to gather at my house before notifying me. Steve could see me by the water, staring out at it. He wanted to rush to me, grab me and never let me go again. But at the same time, he was scared. Scared that after all these years, my feelings towards him might have changed. Everyone watched Steve, wanting to see our reunion, and were confused as to why he was hesitating. Well, everyone was confused except Bucky and Tony. The two glanced at each other, Bucky urging Tony to go up and talk to the man. Tony walked up, setting a hand on Steve’s shoulder.
“You’re luckily she doesn’t have her powers anymore,” Tony teased, “or else she’d be able to sense you from here.”
“What if she doesn’t feel the same anymore?” Steve quietly asked. “What if I waited all that time for nothing?”
“You are out of your mind, Cap. You’re forgetting, she’s waited too. She’s waited just as long as you have and with less of the family with her. She loves you. And as her father, I wouldn’t say that unless I knew it was true. I also wouldn’t give you this.” Tony dug into his pocket and pulled out a ring.
“It’s gorgeous, Tony,” Steve said as he carefully took the ring and inspected it.
“I made it for you to give to her.”
“Are you—“ Steve quickly made eye contact with Tony. “Are you giving me your blessing?”
“Yes. Now,” Tony pushed Steve out the door, “go down there and ask her before I change my mind.”
“Tony,” Steve called before the man could close the door. Tony looked at Steve. “Thank you.”
Tumblr media
Tony simply nodded as he shut the door. Steve turned around and looked at me. He had waited for this moment for so long, he realized that he was being stupid for waiting any longer. Steve took a deep breath and began making his way towards me. I could hear footsteps behind me but I didn’t bother turning around, thinking it was Tony.
“I think the sunset’s more beautiful today than it’s ever been since I’ve been here,” I said. “It’s just… I can’t even find the words to explain it.”
“I feel the same way,” Steve’s voice came from behind. I quietly gasped, not daring to turn around. “Except about you.” Steve walked around me, standing in the water in front of me. “I don’t think that you’ve ever looked more beautiful.”
Tumblr media
“Steve,” I breathed. I slowly set a hand on his cheek, checking to see if he was my imagination playing tricks on me. “Steve.”
Steve chuckled at my reaction, gripping onto my hand that was resting on his cheek. “Hey, B.”
“You’re here.” I jumped onto him, wrapping my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist.
He quickly held onto me, trying to keep balance so that we wouldn’t fall back into the water and buried his head into my neck. “I’m here. You’re here… We’re together… Finally... it’s been too long...”
“I missed you so much.”
“I’ve missed you too, sweetheart.”
We pulled back enough to connect our lips in a long awaited kiss. It had been far too long in both of our opinions, but it was worth the wait. When we finally broke apart, I unwrapped my legs and Steve helped me get steady on the ground.
“I love you so much, Steve,” I whispered, tears of happiness forming in my eyes. “So, so much.”
“Well Bailey,” Steve pulled out the ring Tony had gifted him and got down on one knee, in the water. “I love you 3000 and I’ve waited far too long to began our life together. So, I dare ask you again, will you marry me?”
“Yes,” I nodded hurriedly, “A thousand times yes.”
I held my hand out and allowed Steve to slip the ring onto my finger. Before he could stand up, I jumped onto him, throwing us into the water. We laughed as we kissed. We heard cheering coming from the house. Looking over, I noticed that everyone was watching out on the porch and they seemed to be heading our way. I giggled as Steve pushed us up to kneel in the water. Once everyone reached us, we got up to receive the congratulations.
After we celebrated, with everyone and just Steve and I, we decided to get married as soon as possible. Pepper, Maria, Natasha, and Peggy, had the wedding planned and set within a week of Steve arriving (with Steve, Tony, and I’s input of course). Steve got to introduce me to his parents, and they were also involved with the planning. The night before the big day, the women slept over at my place while the men slept over at Tony and Pepper’s. The ceremony was set up on the beach outside my back door. The women were pampering me, doing my nails, hair, and make up. The nerves were beginning to take over my excitement and, unknowingly to me, I began to tremble. Pepper was the first one to take notice.
“B,” she quickly turned me to face her, “look at me.” I quickly met her eyes. “It’s okay. You’re just getting married today.”
“Yeah, Bailey,” Nat chuckled. “You’re just getting married.”
Pepper took my shaking hands and held them in hers on her lap. “Tell me what’s going through your head.”
“I just… is this really happening? Am I really getting married? And to Steve?”
“You are, B.”
“Did he… he really waited for me? Lived out his life alone until he could be with me?”
“He really did,” Peggy said. “He loves you a great deal.”
“And I him.” I closed my eyes and took a shaking breath. “Okay.” I opened my eyes back up and looked at everyone in the room. “Let’s get me ready. I promised Steve I wouldn’t be late.”
In the next house over, Tony and Bucky were trying their best  to get Steve to calm down.
“What if she has second thoughts?” Steve questioned, rambling as he spiraled. “What if she regrets waiting for me? I don’t think I can take that.”
“Steve,” Bucky slapped his friend in the back, “she waited for you, just like you did for her. That girl is head over heals for you.”
“But what if she realizes that—“
“Stop right there, Rogers,” Tony interrupted. “Barnes is right. And I wouldn’t tell you that unless I knew it was true. I also wouldn’t be willing to walk her down the aisle unless I knew that she loved you and that you loved her.” Tony walked up and set his hands on Steve’s arms. “Now, you need to calm down, so that when I get her, I can promise her that you’re at the end of the aisle.”
Tumblr media
After I was all dolled up and the dress was on, the women left me alone to my thoughts. I was still a bit nervous as I stood there looking at myself in the mirror, but I knew it wouldn’t last long and the excitement was quickly replacing my nerves. I jumped slightly as a knock sounded at the door. I looked in the mirror to see Tony poke his head through, eyes shut.
“Is the bride ready for her father to see her now?” He teased. “I don’t want to jinks anything.”
“Of course,” I giggled as I turned around.
He entered the room quickly, shutting the door with his back before opening his eyes. “Bailey,” he gasped, “you’re— you’re gorgeous.”
Tumblr media
Tony hurried across the room and grabbed my hands. “You… I’m so proud of you. Though Rogers and I have our differences, I know he’s the right man for you. He loves you so much… But of course, not as much as I do.” His eyes slowly filled with tears as he spoke. He dropped one of my hands, resting his free hand on my cheek. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too Daddy.”
“Come here.” Tony quickly pulled me into him, holding me tight. He held a kiss to my temple. “I couldn’t have picked anyone better,” he whispered. “You’ve got that man whipped.”
I heard him sniffling. “Are you crying?” I tried to pull back to look at his face, but he just held me tighter. “It’s okay.” I rubbed his back, trying to comfort him. “I’ll just be living next door, like I have since you got here… I’m not actually going anywhere.” We stayed like that until we heard the music start. Tony gave me one last kiss on the cheek. Tears rimmed his eyes as we studied each others faces.
“Come on,” Tony moved so that he was at my side and slid one of his arms through mine. “We best be going. Here,” he grabbed my bouquet, “let’s go before Steve thinks that I drove you away in a getaway car.”
Tony guided me out of the room and out onto the porch. I could see our friends, our family seated on either side of the aisle. Happy was under the arch, as he was officiating the ceremony, and so was Steve. I wanted Steve stand up straighter and smile wider as Tony and I stepped into his view. Tony patted my arm as we made our way down the stairs and towards everyone. As we got closer to Steve, I noticed a tear escape his eyes. I smiled at him, trying to stop myself from crying. Tony and Steve shook hands before Tony gave me a kiss on the cheek and handed my hand over to Steve.
Tumblr media
“You look beautiful,” Steve whispered as he gently took my hand.
The ceremony was simple, and personal. Steve and I wrote our own vows. When we shared our first kiss as husband and wife, everyone jumped up and cheered. Steve quickly picked me up and spun me around as we kissed. We broke apart, smiling the biggest smiles we could at each other. We then ran down the aisle and onto the porch, laughing the whole way. When we stopped, Steve quickly pulled me in for another kiss.
“Wow,” I said quietly as we parted.
Steve chuckled. “So Mrs. Rogers, what should we do first?”
“I think that we should move up the reception so that we can get the honeymoon started, Mr. Rogers.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” Steve smiled as he went in for another kiss.
Everyone was easily convinced to move up the reception except Tony, though Pepper quickly fixed that. As soon as the dance floor and the food was out, the party started. There were toasts not long after the party started. Bucky and Tony tried not to cry through their toasts. Afterwards, Steve and I had our first dance. As “It’s Been a Long, Long Time” played, Steve held me as close as he could, quietly whispering the song for just us two to hear.
“Never thought that you would be, standing here so closer to me. There’s so much I feel that I should say. But words can wait, until some other day... Kiss me once, then kiss me twice. Then kiss me once again. It’s been a long, long time.”
“Haven’t felt like this, my dear,” I cut him off, “since can’t remember when. It’s been a long, long time.” Steve and I looked lovingly at each other.
“You’ll never know how many dreams I’ve dreamed about you.”
“Or just how empty they all seemed without you.”
“So kiss me once.”
“Then kiss me twice.”
“Then kiss me once again.”
“It’s been a long, long time,” we sang quietly together.
Soon, Steve and I’s song ended and Tony was quickly asking Steve he he could cut it. Tony held me close as well. I could tell his was trying to put on a brave face, but fathers just tend to have a hard time at their daughters weddings.
“You don’t have to be strong for me, dad,” I smiled up at him. “You’ll allowed to cry.”
“I cried at Morgan’s wedding too… Especially as I watched her dance with Steve… It made me long for you to be there. And it made me realize that Steve is truly a great man, and that he really loves you… You picked good sweetie. No matter who much crap I gave you for years about him. You did good.”
“Well, I had help.” I reached up at kissed his cheek. “Thank you, Dad, for saving me. For raising me with love, no matter how many fights we had or how much crap happened to us. I wouldn’t be who I am without you.”
A tear ran down Tony’s cheek as he placed a kiss to my forehead. When the song ended, the music changed to something you could really dance to. As we celebrated, I studied everyone. We all were so happy, so excited. The weight of the world... the universe... was on no one’s shoulders. We were all free. We were all finally at rest.
I got tagged for this by @myrfing and I’d tag other people but eh. if you’re a mutual or follower or whatever feel free to do this if you want
Name:
Alex Piglii, that’s my legal name
Star sign:
Aradia
Height:
6′4″
Put your music on shuffle. What are the first 4 songs that pop up:
Toots and the Maytals - Take Me Home Country Roads
Dramophone - Caravan Palace
ELO - Livin’ Thing
FNV Soundtrack - Jingle Jangle Jingle
Ever had a song/poem written about you?
I once had someone take a Picard/Riker star trek fan fiction in which they replaced every instance of Picard’s name with mine. if that counts.
Last time you played the guitar?
I don’t think I’ve literally ever even touched a guitar.
Celebrity crush?
probably Laura Bailey?
A sound you hate + a sound you love?
hate: people chewing with their mouths close to my ear make me want to physically die
love: people distantly mowing the lawn but, like, at 9:00 am on a saturday morning specifically.
Believe in ghosts?
not actually but I like the concept
Do you drive?
yeah I drive a crappy car almost as old as I am
Last book you read?
the last book I actually read in full was What the Hell Did I Just Read by David Wong but the last one I started was The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson but I never got around to finishing it because I’m a lazy binch
Do you like the smell of gasoline?
A lil’ bit
Worst injury you’ve ever had?
one time when I was 9 I thought it would be cool to try and ride my bike with no hands on a gravel road, which resulted in me falling and a rock going about an inch inside my knee. after getting it out, washing it up, and putting gauze on it I just left it like that for a few weeks and when it came time to unwrap the gauze my skin had partially grown over the gauze so I had to pull it out string by string.
Do you have any obsessions right now?
I’ve been playing ffxiv pretty much daily for like a uuuuhhh year and a half so there’s that. I’ve also been watching a lot of horror movie too I suppose pretty consistently?
Do you tend to hold grudges towards people?
not really. I definitely have family that I find frustrating to deal with but I usually just swallow my feelings and deal with it.
In a relationship?
her name is Countess Boochy Flagrante, you wouldn’t know her, she goes to a different school
Under The Stars (G.D. Fanfic) - Part 9 Archery and Shopping
POV: First person
Word Count: 2,787
A/N: I know that this is not their parents’ names, I just didn’t know them nor feel like looking them up.
****
“Hey babe, I have a semi-serious slash important question to ask you.”
“Mmmhm?” I looked away from my laptop to give him a look to proceed on.
He fiddled with his phone in his hands and finally took a deep breath. “Would you want to come back to Jersey with E and I? Meet our parents, we can eat good food, go dirt biking, four wheeling, all that.”
Obviously, he needed a lot of encouragement to ask me this, and part of me wanted to say no, but I couldn’t do that. I mean, I guess we are at that part of our relationship where I should meet his parents and see where he grew up.
I gave him a smile. “I’d love to do that.”
***
“Why the fuck did I agree to meet your parents?” I let out a deep breath.
Ethan was snickering from the back seat as per usual. “Cause you wove Grayson Bailey Dolan.” He babied.
I rolled my eyes. “Shut up. That may be true.. I just… What if the parents don’t like me?”
Grayson looked back at Ethan and they started to share a similar laugh.
“What?”
“I don’t think either of them will dislike you. My dad may actually want to take you out to the shooting range. That’s his way to get to know someone. My mom… she’ll probably want to go shopping or crafting, that’s her detecting strengths.”
I cocked a brow. “You’re kidding, right? The only guns I’ve ever shot are a pistol and a bb gun. Shopping and crafting.. I’ve mostly got covered.”
Ethan was suddenly in the middle section between Gray and I. “There’s archery too. He’ll probably ask which you prefer. Doesn’t matter which one you choose.”
I hunched over, bringing my knees to my chest, and I made some sort of dying dinosaur sound. Then I stayed there, trying to think of what to do, and pull myself together; it's just how I work.
“Is she okay?”
After a couple seconds, I went back to sitting normally and let out a deep breath. “I’m fine. It’s gonna be fine. If your dad asks, we’ll do archery. It’s been a few years, but it's better than the other. If your mom asks for shopping or crafting, no problem.”
Chanelle now popped up from the backseat. “Dude, I don’t know why you’re being crazy about meeting their parents.”
I huffed lightly. “Really? You don’t? You’re not dating one of their sons.” But she wishes she was.
Her cheeks flushed. “Oh, right.”
Grayson and Ethan exchanged clueless looks, then Grayson looked at me and I shot him a look, switching my eyes to Ethan. These boys can be so horrible with picking up on signals. I’m shocked Ethan doesn’t know Chanelle has feelings for him; though she’s actually pretty good at keeping her cool.
“Do you think your parents will ask me to do that stuff with them?” Chanelle asked as Grayson pulled off onto a dirt road between the walls of trees.
“Uh..” Ethan started, then closed his mouth with a puzzling look. “My mom might, I mean just as a girls day out or something?”
I couldn’t help snorting. “That should be fun. Chanelle, if she asks, please go with.”
“Okay.” She sighed.
I smiled as we all unbuckled and stepped out of the Bronco. I felt my knees wobble a little though and then one locked. I huffed as I kept walking to pop it and sort of limped to the trunk to grab my duffel and backpack from Grayson.
“What’s wrong, babe?” Concern was etched his face.
“My knee locked. It’s fine.” I leaned up to kiss him on the cheek and when I pulled away he was giving me a look. I rolled my eyes. “Seriously, I’ll be fine. Just gotta walk it off. It’s not my first rodeo.”
He didn’t say anything else as we all headed inside to their childhood home. I… How am I moving right now? I feel like I’ve stopped, yet my surroundings keep changing as I walk through different areas in the house. It was more spacious than I was expecting to be honest. What should I have expected? Nothing I ever think is actually reality; most of the time anyways.
A women came into the living room, her brunette hair swaying perfectly as she walked over to her sons for hugs and kisses. Then a tall, broad shouldered man came into the living from what seemed may have been the garage? Okay, I can see how Grayson, Ethan, and Cameron are all attractive. Their parents must’ve been some goals couple, still probably are.
A breath hitched in my throat as both of them looked at me, their mom with brown eyes and dad with blue and friendly smiles were on their lips.
“Hi there.” Her voice was so light, airy compared to the boys, or even Cameron’s. Though, I haven’t actually met Cameron in person yet.
Their dad was upclose in my face now. “Are you okay?”
“Yes.” I cleared my throat. “Yes. Sorry, I’m Kat.” I reached my hand out to shake, but now I was given some weird looks.
Their dad chuckled and tugged me in for a hug. “It’s so nice to meet you. I’m Freddie.”
“Agreed. I’m Laura.” I looked her and could see she was ready for a hug as well.
I was not expecting this reaction. They’re not at all worried about the age difference? Or do they know? I’m just not going to mention it right now.
“Well, the feeling is mutual.” I laughed lightly. “You have a lovely home, from what I’ve seen so far.”
Laura snorted, batting a hand. “Yeah, just wait another hour or so when these two are let loose.”
I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing as Grayson and Ethan came in with groaning protests; I could tell Chanelle was trying not to laugh too.
Freddie and Laura looked at Chanelle now.
“You are?” Freddie prompted.
“A friend of the boys, and Kat. I’m Chanelle.”
Laura gave her a bright smile. “Welcome Chanelle. It's nice to meet you too.”
“Yes. Glad you could make it out too.” Freddie added.
“Thank you.” Chanelle mumbled back, seeming slightly embarrassed; not at all what I was expecting.
“Let us show you to the guest room and you can get settled.” Laura prompted and started to walk away.
“Uh, mom.. thought Kat would stay in my room.”
A slow smirk crossed on Freddie’s face. “Adda boy. That's okay, Kat can stay with you in your room.”
A snort escaped me before I could stop it and I covered my mouth and nose with one hand, but continued to laugh. I cleared my throat finally, “Sorry, sorry.”
Grayson seemed a bit off as we entered his room and he shut the door. He threw his backpack onto his bed and went into the connecting bathroom that Ethan also had access to through a different door; that should be interesting.
“Gray, what's wrong?” I approached the open doorway and rested my head on the siding.
“I…My dad is my dad, but when he made his comment, why did you laugh? Believe it or not, my parents don't know everything that goes on in our relationship. So he didn't know that we didn't have sex yet.”
“Whoa, whoa. Lemme get this straight, you're upset that I basically told your parents we weren't sexually active?”
“Well… my dad, at least.”
I rolled my eyes with a small scoff. Then I sighed lightly as I saw his actual emotions seeping through. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his torso from behind. “Gray... if your dad has ever made you feel bad about not gettin it right away, then fuck him. It's our relationship and we're not ready.”
He sighed heavily and turned around to look at me as he leaned against the counter. “I know… I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you because of this personal problem between my dad and I. I'm really sorry.”
I reached up to brush back the fringe that’s growing out. “Babe, you can talk to me about these things anytime. Don't let it build up, and yes, definitely don't snap at me because of it. I forgive you, and always will cause I love you.”
My heart nearly stopped for a moment, then sped up. The words flowed from my lips so easily though, but maybe that's what scares me a little. And I have no idea if he feels that for me yet.
A hint of terror and shock crossed his face, but then a quirky smile spread on his lips. “I love you too.” He dipped his head down to kiss me, slowly, and I smiled.
Not really how I saw saying our first “I love you” going, but it was still wonderful. I'm immensely happy, and I think Gray is too.
***
“So, Kat, what did you say your major was?” Freddie loaded up his blue and orange arrow before stringing back and letting it go at the target; it was nearly a dead center hit.
Clearly, Grayson did not give him much information on me and he was trying to get more of a read; including my age. Well, this is probably going to get worse.
I strung my own red and black arrow with a slight struggle, but then raised my bow to pull it back. I focused as much as I could and tried to not show any shakiness. I let the arrow go, it whipping past my face a little, and it landed on the third ring in; not terrible.
It's really been a while. I sort of forgot the physical strength that goes into archery; it's not easy to master, I only learned from years of girl scouts and other camps.
I cleared my throat. “Uh, I hadn't said yet. My major was creative writing and my minor was graphic design.”
He looked at me a little dumbfounded and he cocked a brow. “You're graduated? You only work now?”
“Yes, I’m a script editor down in LA, Chanelle works there as a screenwriter. I'm twenty-one. Twenty-two in October.” I decided to add it on before he'd ask. It was going to be the follow up question, I know it.
“Huh.” He strung another arrow and made his aim; he hit dead center this time. “Look, I don't mind the age difference. I like the fact you've got a full-time job, you support yourself and you're not taking advantage of Grayson in that way.”
“I never would. Really, I never ask Gray to pay or buy anything for me.”
“Good.” He, now, distracted himself again with shooting. “Cause I know if you were to ask, he'd do or get anything for you. Hell, this kid would probably take a bullet for you. That's the kind of person he is.”
I was a bit stunned and his words hit hard. I cleared my throat. “I know… but I would never ask him to do that.”
Freddie stopped, lowering his bow and arrow, and he looked me dead in the eyes. “I don't think you get it. I know you'd never ask him to, no one would, but he'd do it anyway cause he loves you.”
I swallowed hard. I don’t want to think about Grayson taking a bullet for me or doing anything like that; even though I know his dad’s words were true.
“I'm not exactly sure what you want me to say right now.. I do understand. I don't want him to take a bullet for me. I'd probably push him out of the way and let the bullet hit me cause I love him. I don’t need or want anyone taking their life for me.”
Freddie had still been looking me straight in the eyes, but now he looked away. “Good.” He went back to hit a bullseye and didn’t utter another word.
Part of me was relieved and I went back to doing my archery as well. I think his dad likes me alright, as long as there is no bad air I think I’m good.
***
The air felt more easy as Chanelle, Laura, and I walked through the decent sized mall they had. I think it’s because Chanelle was there, their mom seems more chill, and we’re in a mall.
My eyes set on the Adidas store up ahead and I knew I was in trouble. If you asked me a few years ago if I’d ever shop there, my answer would’ve been Hell no. But times changes, and their shoes are cute and comfy; sort of becoming an aesthetic of mine.
“Would you like to go there? You seem to have that love at first sight look going.” Laura commented with a small laugh.
I looked at Chanelle and she shrugged. “Up to you, my dude.”
I noted the Vans store that was across the way from us. “We could go there next?”
“Sounds good.” She replied as she walked into the Adidas store.
I guess we’re going in.
Laura seemed to stay close as we browsed, though she was silent. Now, though, she stopped and picked up a red, dry-fit style tee that had the three stripes logo on the left side of the chest.
“This would be good for Grayson.” She mumbled.
I cleared my throat. “It would be. Red is a good color for him.. And the style of it would be good for his workouts.”
A smile spread on her lips. “You’re right.”
I was about to offer to pay for it all or part of it, but I think as his mom she’d like to buy it. I pointed to the black on in the same style. “That one would work for Ethan.”
“Thanks. I know there would be a riot if I came home with only a shirt for Grayson. So pricey though..”
Before I could talk myself out of it, I suggested, “I could buy Grayson’s.. You can still say it’s from you.”
I think I may have just unlocked her loving me more mode as she pulled me into a hug. “Freddie told me about the age difference and everything, but I don’t care. I am so happy Grayson has found you.”
I laughed under my breath. “I’m really glad to be with him, really he’s… he’s perfect in every way and I feel completed when he’s around. Like.. I could be in a bad mood and if he comes around I feel better no matter what.”
As she pulled back, she was wiping away at underneath her eyes. “I’m ecstatic to hear you say that. He deserves a girl like you, and Ethan… he should man up and ask that Chanelle out.”
I busted out a laugh. “Wait, did he tell you he likes likes her?” Wow, I felt like I threw myself back into middle school with that ‘likes likes’ phrase; cringe.
“No.” She scoffed lightly, “But moms know their sons. Does she like him?”
I snorted now. “That’s a joke.” Laura looked at me a bit confused. I shook my head. “Yes, she does. A lot, actually.”
A sort of evil look came about Laura’s eyes and I shot her a look.
“What’re you thinking?”
“To get one of the two to ask the other out.”
I really had to bite my tongue to not laugh out loud obnoxiously. “I think Gray mentioned we were all going dirt biking and four wheeling tomorrow, maybe I could convince one of them to ask the other out officially?”
“She does seem like a great girl, and Ethan seems smitten. If you could try, that would be helpful.”
“I’d be a pleasure to help meddling those two together. The tension is getting ridiculous.”
Laura took my hand in hers and started walking us towards the cash register. “This is the beginning of a beautiful bond, Kat.”
“I’m glad.”
I pulled my card out to pay for the red shirt for Grayson and then handed the black bag to Laura. “Here you go.”
I looked around for Chanelle, only to realize she was sitting on one of the benches outside of the store, waiting for us. I approached her with a slight sheepish look. “Sorry, we were deciding on some shirts for the boys.”
“They’ll love them, I think.” Laura added on.
Chanelle jumped up from the bench. “It’s all good. Now, let’s find me some cute ass Vans to show off.”
Yeah, to show off to Ethan. Laura and I exchanged looks after Chanelle had her back to us and we laughed under our breaths as we followed her.
Second Year Abroad
Just like that with another snap of the fingers, another year has come and gone. I am now coming to the end of my second year of teaching abroad in Thailand. This year was filled with vacations, friends, teaching, and a few challenges. Unfortunately, I didn’t do as good of a job keeping track of what I did this year but I’ll do my best:
Summer 2016
[Home sweet home]
I was home for 7 weeks over the summer and it was amazing. Seeing my family and friends after being away for so long was the best feeling ever. I spent the summer working for my dad, catching up with friends and enjoying being home. I even met a boy.  I have to say, it was quite cold considering I just spent a year in 35+ degree weather! At the end of July, I packed my bags and moved back to Bangkok for my second year of teaching.
Tumblr media
August
[Getting back in the swing of things]
My first day back was crazy; I touched down in Bangkok early in the morning and somehow found an apartment and moved in the same day! Work started a few days later and I was lucky enough to be teaching first grade this year instead of preschool! It was a busy month getting things together in my classroom but it was nice to be back in the city with my friends. We spent the month hitting up our favorite restaurants and I even got a visit from one of my bff’s Christina! She was finishing her South East Asia trip and I was lucky enough to have her stay with me for a week.
Tumblr media
September
[First vacay of the year & a surgery]
The first weekend of September we had our staff trip to one of our favorite islands: Koh Samet. We visited our favorite paint bar; saw a fire show and visited a quiet private island. We were lucky enough to have some great new staff members and it was awesome getting to know them over the weekend.
A few weeks later I finally got my knee checked out at the hospital in Bangkok- About 8 years ago I injured my knee in hockey and it has been swollen ever since. Why didn’t I do anything about it over the last 8 years? I tried to go to the doctor at home but they referred me for an X-RAY and saw nothing. The health care is amazing in Thailand and at this point, I knew something was actually wrong with it. I went to the hospital and the next day I was booked in for an MRI- quick right? A few days later I got the results and I had a full tear of my Meniscus, with a large amount of cartilage build up. The doctors said that sometimes your Meniscus fixes itself, but because it had already been 8 years it looked like mine wasn’t going to. So three days later, I was in for surgery. I was a little scared and nervous to go under anesthesia without having my family here but the doctors go above and beyond here to make sure you are taken care of; so that was comforting. I spent a night in the hospital after surgery and my friends brought me candy and magazines! My hospital room was basically a hotel: fully equipped with a kitchen, wifi and a TV! The rest of the month I recovered from my surgery and I was up walking normal by October.
October
[A vacation and a sad time]
BALI
The month started off with a trip to Bali with some of my amazing friends! Laura, Alexa, Anique, Emma, Bianca and I (later named the Bingtang Bandits). I felt so lucky that they came to Asia to see me and it sure was a memorable trip.
Seminyak- I arrived at the airport alone and made my way to meet my friends at our hotel. I showed up and quickly saw that we had our own private villa! It had a beautiful pool and lots of rooms [the only problem with it was that a few girls jumped into the pool and it turned their hair green… oops]. I ended up getting sick during these few days so I had a day of bed rest but was good to go after that. We went to a crazy, fun Mexican restaurant called Motel Mexicola. The vibe was incredible and there was a lot of tequila! We spent our last day in the city at a nearby beach! We indulged in some Bingtangs (Bali beer), enjoyed the sunshine and got to watch the gorgeous sun sut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gilli T- We took a ferry from Seminyak to Gilli T. We sat on top of the boat to take in the beautiful scenery and we ended up seeing dolphins! We finally arrived at the island of Gilli T. On the island there are no cars and the only form of transportation is bicycles and horse buggies. It was very sad to see the condition of the horses on the island- a mixture of being overworked and the heat had them looking exhausted and sad. We tried to stay away from taking the buggies. The island was absolutely gorgeous and we stayed at a resort with a beautiful pool and beach side restaurant. Over the four days we swam with sea turtles, went on a boat cruise and watched the beautiful sunsets!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ubud- Our last stop on our holiday was Ubud! I was fascinated by the nature that we were able to see- definitely a change from the pollution in Bangkok! We had to leave the other girls, so it was just Laura, Alexa and I for this last leg of the trip. Our hotel had a pool that overlooked a beautiful rice field, which had a relaxing spa (which we took full advantage of). Over the few days we explored a waterfall, got to experience a coffee plantation (yum) and see the famous rice fields! I was sad to leave but it was time to get back to work and reality in Bangkok! The girls visited me the following weekend in Bangkok and I got to show them my favorite restaurants and places to go in the city!
An unexpected trip home
At the end of October I got the horrible call that my grandmother had passed away. She had been fighting cancer but the news was extremely unexpected and hard to take in. That day I was on a flight back to Canada to be with my family. It was a difficult two weeks at home but I was lucky that I was able to take the time off work to be with my loved ones during this time.
  RIP Grammie, I love you and we miss you.
November
[Back to work]
I got back to Bangkok in the middle of November. It was hard leaving my family and saying goodbye but knowing that I was home for Christmas in a few weeks made it a little bit easier. I was planning on surprising my mom that I was coming home but I ended up telling her so that she could have some joy in the next 5 weeks to come. Work was busy, as we were coming to the end of the first half of the year. We spent a weekend in Krabi with our friends and enjoyed the beautiful weather!
December
[Home]
The first two weeks of December were crazy, finishing up the semester with Christmas celebrations and report cards. The first weekend of December we had a long weekend so we went to Koh Tao. Little did we know, the weather wasn’t exactly good at this time of year! It was pouring rain the entire weekend but we made the most of it by drinking baileys and coffees and getting massages!
Before I knew it, I was on another flight home for Christmas break! I couldn’t wait to see my family, friends, Aaron  and LOUIE! I arrived in Toronto and could not believe how cold it was. I think I spent the whole two and a half weeks shivering! Over the break I went to lots of Christmas parties, had lots of cuddles and spent NYE with the best people. I was so incredibly happy to be home for Christmas after being away last year. I can never imagine spending another Christmas away from my family again.
January
[Japan]
Leaving my family and friends at home was horrible. I had had the best time at home and I really didn’t want to come back. But I knew I had to finish off the year strong, it would fly by and I would be home for good in no time.
JAPAN- Two weeks later I was on another vacation to one of the coolest countries I have ever been to! I travelled with one of my best friends Christina and her boyfriend. They met me in Tokyo from Australia, so they were in the same boat as me for how FREEZING it was.
Tokyo- What a cool city! Some of the best food I have ever had- especially the sushi! We visited Shibuya crossing (busiest intersection in the world), followed by going to a famous sushi restaurant- YUM! We even went to a famous ‘Hedgehog Café’, were you basically pay money to play with Hedgehogs. They are not the friendliest animals I’ll tell you that! After freezing our butts off for a few days, we took the bullet train to Nagano.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nagano- Small city, we stayed right beside the train station so we could catch the bus early the next day. We walked around the city and ate lots of Ramen… mm… It was also Christina’s birthday while we were here! We enjoyed a nice sushi dinner in the city for her special day.
Tumblr media
Hakuba- Now when the fun begins… We took a short bus ride to Hakuba, Japan AKA snow boarders heaven. When we got to our hotel we were a little shocked to see that our room was a ‘Japanese Traditional Room’, which basically meant there were no beds and we were sleeping on futons on the floor. It took a while to get used to but we survived! We spent four days in the city, snowboarding through 5 feet of powder and drinking lots of Bailey’s and coffee! The snow in Japan is not even comparable to home… At one point I got stuck in 3 feet of powder for about half an hour. Christina thought I had gone up the chairlift and done another run by the time I got out of being stuck in the snow haha. By the end of the week I was exhausted and ready to go home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
February
[Relaxation]
I got back from Japan the first week of February and I was happy to be back in the warm weather! Nothing went on this month, as my bank account was recovering from my Japan trip! I couldn’t believe how expensive Japan was. However, I am so happy I did it and I wouldn’t trade that trip for the world!
I started really getting into Yoga this month. My knee was finally healed and I was given the go to start exercising. Yoga was definitely a changeof pace from my normal physical activity (hockey and soccer) but I really enjoyed it.
March
[Birthday month]
The month started out on a happy note. Aaron sent me an early birthday present- a mug with a plane ticket inside; he was coming to visit me in April!! I couldn’t believe that he was actually coming to visit me. I think I smiled for the rest of the month!
In March we went on a staff happy hour to a really cool place in Bangkok called Taco Lake. It is a man-made lake where they have paddle boarding, beer and mechanical wake boarding! I tried to get up on the wakeboard and failed. Next time: try before the beer haha.
Tumblr media
For my birthday, my closest friends and I went to a free flow wine and cheese night at a restaurant called Vintage. What does this mean? You get to drink all the wine you want and indulge in their unlimited supply of cheese, cold cuts and bread. If anyone knows me, wine and cheese nights are my absolute favorite! We didn’t go out; we just enjoyed each other’s company. I wouldn’t have it any other way (wow I am getting old lol). That Saturday I had a birthday brunch with some more of my girlfriends at my favorite brunch place- Tribeca.
April
[Songkran]
Don’t be jealous but yes, another vacation for me. In April falls Thailand’s NEW YEAR- Songkran (known for the water fights). For the holiday, we got 13 days off work and had a fun vacation to Laos and Vietnam planned. The last day before break our school had a Songkran festival. All of the students and staff dressed up in floral shirts or Thai Traditional Dress and we had a day of festivities. The day started out with a water pouring ceremony. The students one by one would come up to their teachers and pour water over their hands. This symbolizes paying respect to their teachers and elders. The students then played some Thai Traditional Games and enjoyed the carnival where they could buy food and toys. My favorite part of the day was the water fight! All of the students in grades one and two were on the field and for 45 minutes we had a massive water fight. It was so much fun to run around and soak all the kids! We said our goodbyes and it was officially holiday time!
LAOS
Lauren and I flew to Laos for a few days before meeting up with the girls in Vietnam! We flew into Vientiane then took a four hour cab ride to Vang Viang. We stayed in a beautiful hotel that was on a rice field. There wasn’t much going on in the city but there is one thing that it’s famous for: river tubing! The next day Lauren and I packed a waterproof bag, rented some tubes and floated down the river with some beers! The views were absolutely incredible. Down the river you got the perfect view of the mountains and the lush scenery. Once upon a time, this attraction was much more popular. It was filled with tourists that would drink excessively and tube down the river. There used to be bars open all along the way and they would throw a rope to you and pull you in. However, over the last few years a lot of the places have been shut down due to safety. This was good for us, because we wanted to just relax and enjoy the scenery. We loved Laos and I was so glad I got to experience it before the end of the year!
Tumblr media
VIETNAM
Hanoi- Our first stop in Vietnam was Hanoi. After another flight, we met up with the other girls late at the hotel. Krista’s best friends were visiting from home, so we had a huge group- 11 girls! We were only in Hanoi one night so we went out for dinner and had an early night. A lot of the girls were jet legged so it was good to take it easy.
Halong Bay- Early the next morning we got picked up early to head to Halong Bay. It was about four hours before we arrived and pulled up to our private yacht! The main thing to do in Halong Bay is to take an overnight boat tour around the bay to see all of the sites and spend the night on the water. We had a staff that prepared all of our meals for us and answered any questions we had. That day we spent some time on the top sun deck, saw a cave and enjoyed a cooking class! At night we had some drinks and enjoyed some charades! The crew came to get us late at night to do some squid fishing. I love to fish so I was definitely interested. Most of the girls stayed inside but a few of us went out to squid fish. All you had was a long wooden rod with a fishing line attached to the end. There was no reel or anything. At the end of the line was a small lure and all you had to do was bob the line up and down in the water. I was lucky enough to catch a squid! It was so cool- as soon as I lifted the squid out of the water it started to shoot black ink everywhere [I’m also pretty sure we had it for lunch the next day lol]. After the fishing, we head to bed to our rooms on the boat. When we woke up the next morning, the weather was stormy and freezing. On our way back to land we stayed inside, relaxed in the warmt and listened to music.
Tumblr media
Hoi An- Our stop was the beautiful little town of Hoi An. We stayed in a nice little resort that was close to everything and even had a nice little pool. Our first day, the weather wasn’t great so we decided to get our shopping out of the way! We made our way to the Old City of Hoi An, which is filled with little shops and restaurants. A lot of the girls got clothes made- which Vietnam is known for! I decided not too because I don’t think I have any more room in my closet ha ha. The next day was my favorite; a beach day! We found a gorgeous place to post up on the beach, played volleyball and swam all day! The beach wasn’t close to as beautiful as the Thailand beaches but it was nice and relaxing.
Tumblr media
The next day we rented scooters and drove all the way from Hoi An to Da Nang (about an hour scooter ride). It was so much fun driving down the coast with the girls enjoying the sights and wind in our hair! On our way we found one of the most gorgeous beaches I have seen. We stopped for a quick drink and to check it out! When we arrived in Da Nang at our hotel half of the girls had to leave so it was only Krista, Lauren and I for our last night in Vietnam! We decided to go on a river cruise that night. Da Nang is a really cool city that reminds me of Singapore. They have a really unique bridge that is designed like a dragon. Every night at 9:00 the dragon is lit up and shoots fire and water out of its mouth! We got to see it on our river cruise which was unbelievable. The next morning we head back to Bangkok!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back in Bangkok
It was nice to be home but I didn’t have much time to relax, as Aaron was arriving a few days later! I couldn’t believe how fast the weeks flew by from the time he told me he was coming to visit. I picked him up late on a Friday night and was beyond happy to see him. Finally after four (long, long) months we were together again! The first weekend we went to Chattachuck Market, had dinner and drinks at the W District and hit up a few of my favorite restaurants! On the Monday we took a taxi to the nearby city of Kanchanaburi. From there we got picked up and head for Elephant Haven Sanctuary. We spent the day feeding, swimming and walking with elephants! I went to an elephant sanctuary last year but this one didn’t even compare- I think because of my company! That week I had to go back to work but Aaron kept busy in the city. After work that week we went for dinners, had a drink at a rooftop bar, saw a traditional Muay Thai Fight and spent a night at Khao San Road (famous backpacker road where we ate scorpions- yum). So, so happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before I knew it, it was the next weekend and we were on our way to Krabi! In Krabi, we spent our first day swimming and enjoying the beaches. I took Aaron to some of my favorite islands around Ao Nang and we stayed at my favorite hotel. After the beach, we spent some time at the pool floating and enjoying some Mojito’s. That night we went for a delicious Italian dinner with some red wine and a yummy charcuterie platter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Sunday was Aaron’s 25th birthday! When we woke up we went for breakfast- eggs benedict mmm. After breakfast we went to the board walk and booked a private long tail boat for the day; it took us around to a few different islands. We got to climb up to a cave and took some nice pictures. We ended up back at Railay beach, where we were the day before. We had some drinks, swam in the ocean and enjoyed some Thai food. That night we got ready for dinner and I surprised Aaron with dinner at a beautiful restaurant called the Hilltop. We got to watch the sun set, drink wine and eat some delicious sea food. The band even sang him Happy Birthday! That night we went out to explore the city. It wasn’t even my birthday, yet I think it was my favorite day, ever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next day we had to head home (booooo). For Aaron’s last night in the city, we went to the Canadian bar for wings and beer. Not so ‘Thailand’ but it’s one of my favorite places so why not! The next day he met me at my school and spent the afternoon with my students and I. They absolutely loved him and had a million questions. After work we took a taxi to the airport and had to say our goodbyes. Sad day for me, but only 7 weeks until I was moving home. Which compared to this whole year, was nothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
May
[Long weekending]
Two days after Aaron left I was on another flight for yet another long weekend! This time we head for Koh Lipe with a group of 9 of us. It was one of the most gorgeous places I have been since moving to South East Asia. They call it the ‘Maldives of Thailand’ because the water is clear blue and stunning. We relaxed on the beach, rented kayaks and had some delicious food.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The End...
With only 6 weeks left in in Thailand, the countdown is definitely on. Four weeks of work left, a staff trip to Koh Samet and a two week vacation with my Aunt is all there is left.
I can’t help be excited for the next chapter of my life. I’m excited to come home, get on the supply list and start ‘real life’. Looking back at the last two years of my life, I can’t help but smile and be thankful for everything I have been lucky enough to do and see. It feels like a dream.
Thailand, you are beautiful, thanks for the best two years of my life.
