Harvey tried to kill his dad multiple times.

If you want to factor in All Star stuff, he was plotting to do it as a kid, and had even snapped to the point of getting the jump on him once, and locking him in the basement while he went about his day. In a dissociative episode, obviously, but he apparently had a really normal week otherwise. Hell, even in Gotham Knights (or whatever), he rigged up a way for his father to fall to his death (in a dissociative state) and listened to his cries for help for hours.

I think that's why he has a real problem with 'Batman doesn't kill people'. Because he was at the very least entertaining the idea at a very young age.

And so was Bruce!

But there's a considerable difference between wanting revenge for your parents, and uh- wanting revenge on your parents. One is understandable, more socially acceptable - the other gets 'but he's your dad'. So. There's my thoughts on that. :|
