Happy WBW! What are the sacred professions in your world? I don't necessarily mean religious-- but of course they can be. Just what are the high ranking, prestigious, and/or powerful jobs?

Oh this is the perfect opportunity to ramble about The Astrals' Weapons in Stained Integrity! >:} (I'll also talk about Master Alchemists because those are pretty important too.) Thank you for the ask!

So, in the world of Stained Integrity, there is what is literally known as "the faith" because it's so widespread. The Astrals are the main 3 that are prayed to (and The Wyrds are the ones you plead to).

There is one specific being that is known as the Diviner, who delivers The Astrals' Will to the three beings that are known as The Astrals' Weapons. A lot of people refer to the Diviner's power as "seeing into the future," although it's a bit more complicated than that.

(CW below cut: mention of death, mention of poison)

The Astrals (Méni Lune, Heló Sol, and Aura Stell) each have one Weapon that they are the benefactor of. There's Lune's Blade, Sol's Bow, and Stell's Spear (AKA the Moonblade, the Sunbow, and the Starspear). The purpose of the Weapons is to carry out The Astrals' Will, which is usually just a specific task told to them by the Diviner.

For context, these are the only beings that are bowed to by kings, queens, sovereigns, and other leaders of the skylands. That's how important they are. They each have very specific cloaks that they wear at all times, which makes them easily recognizable.

The exciting part about all this is how the successors are chosen. The Diviner will receive a vision about the successor, and the Weapon is then sent to find this particular individual to train them as a successor until they die. (Yes, they basically get their impending death foretold, although they aren't told how or exactly when they will die, just that it's going to happen.)

Once the Weapon's thread is cut, their literal weapon (the sword, bow, or spear) basically dematerializes and reappears in the Diviner's shrine, which is where the new Weapon will travel to retrieve the weapon and be given their first task from the Diviner.

Each Weapon is also given a specific power by their benefactor that is tailored to their own personal abilities. In the current timeline, Malina (Stell's Spear) has the ability to sense magic and trace magical residue back to its caster, which is in tangent to her ability as a practitioner to sense the presence of souls. She also has heightened healing powers, since stellar magic is based around healing.

At the start of the story, the current Moonblade (Jeyen) has the power to polymorph natural materials into different natural materials (so he could literally turn lead into gold) for various periods of time. The current Solbow (Tache) has the power to augment their own strength to a certain degree, which means pretty much what it sounds like it means.

And I'm going to shamelessly self-promote because I've drawn Malina and posted it here, and I've also drawn the new Moonblade that is Jeyen's successor.

Okay, now about the Master Alchemists!

Basically, the Master Alchemists are those that have learned every single recipe that there is to learn. The reason this is such a feat is that, by law, an alchemy apprentice must ingest anything that they learn to make, before they learn to make it. This includes poisons, potions, and more. The only exception to this is tickerbane, since the poison is so powerful that there is no lower dose that someone can take to make it nonfatal. All other poisons are either diluted or given in a small enough dose that it's just really really painful instead of deadly.

In the current timeline of the story, there is only one Master Alchemist left, since no one has wanted to take on such a difficult apprenticeship.

Ring in the New Year Gala || December 31, 2023 - January 1, 2024

What better way to ring in the New Year than with drinking around the world? No, I don't mean to get on my private jet and just go - it wouldn't fit all of Paris. But, I have the funds to bring the rest of the world to Paris.

When/where does this event take place in game?

The gala will be held on December 31, 2023. This event takes place at the du Pont-Moreau Residence, which is located in West Paris.

How long do we have to write?

Threads can begin on Sunday, January 6th @ 12:00 AM EST and must be wrapped up by Sunday January 13th @ 11:59 PM EST.

What else do we need to know?

Aside from every other detail in this post, it should be noted our first interest check will still occur on Sunday. You are not required to participate and you will not need to pause your regular threads; but we ask that any threads related to the event are tagged clearly either using a personalized tag or as #paris.event:001. We ask that any starters specifically for this event are also tagged as #paris.event:001 in addition to being tagged as #paris.starter.

This event will include a decent set of drinking games from around the world hosted by friends of Heather's from abroad, live entertainment, and fine cuisine. Some examples can be found below; but please feel free to use your imagination or even suggest some that we could add to this post.

Games & Activities

Goon of Fortune (AUS); Loosely based upon Wheel of Fortune, this is yet another drinking game where players must sit in a circle, this time underneath a Hill Hoist-style clothesline. Attached to one end of the line is a bladder of goon, the local term for cheap, boxed wine. Spin the line, and whomever the bladder stops above has to drink. And no, you never need to buy a vowel or ask to solve the puzzle.

La vache qui tache (FR); No surprise, you’ll need a wine cork to play La vache qui tache (“The Cow Who Stains”), of which one end is blackened by a candle flame. Players take turns calling out fellow players by their pre-assigned numbers until someone screws up in remembering an opponent’s number. At that point, your face gets spotted with the blackened cork and game play continues.

Ping Pong Pan (JPN); Start in a circle with one person saying “ping” then, going clockwise, the person to their left must say “pong.” Then, the next person says “pang” while pointing to a random person, who must then say “ping,” and so on. Seems like they could really spice this game up with an actual ping pong ball and some Solo cups.

Sapo (PE); Unlike most drinking games, which simply involve a table, some alcohol, and some drinkers, Sapo actually involves an apparatus that seems a little costly. Purportedly created by an Incan king, players today toss tokens at a board adorned with a brass sapo (toad) and 25 holes. Tokens that land in the toad’s mouth are worth the most.

Kinito (ESP); Kinito is like Yahtzee for drunks. In this popular game in the Basque region, players sit in a circle (of course). One player shakes two dice inside a shaker, then privately looks at what she rolled, telling her opponents what that number is (which may be a lie). The next player guesses if she is being truthful or not, then rolls his own dice, trying to score higher. At least sangria is usually present and ample.

Pon/Toma (MX); In this game, a six-sided dreidel is employed, with each side bearing a drinking instruction (“toma dos”). Sit in a circle with a community libation in the middle, and then spin the top—whatever the dreidel lands on, you do (i.e. “toma todo”—drink the whole cup).

Bear Paw (RUS); In Bear Paw, a large mug of beer is passed around in a circle. After each player takes a sip, the displaced fluid is replaced by vodka, and the game continues. In theory, eventually the mug will be pure vodka, at which point vodka is displaced by beer, and so on. Winner is last person standing.

Fuzzy Duck (UK); In this game, players sit around in a circle, alternately calling out “fuzzy duck” or “ducky fuzz.” If a player, upon his turn, inadvertently calls out “does he?” then play immediately resumes in the opposite direction. If a player screws up on his turn, he drinks—simple as that.

Kastenlauf (GER); Kastenlauf literally translates to “box run,” and indeed, this drinking game involves running with a beer crate while methodically chugging its contents. Teams of two carry a crate full of beer (20 bottles) between themselves while each drinking a bottle. The first team to finish all their beer and cross the finish line wins.

Things were pretty mellow regarding Japanese mid-size bike development in the mid-1960’s. There were two-stroke 250’s, 350’s and a 500 from three makers and Honda started offering the CB450 about 1965. Then in late 1968 we opened our copies of Cycle and Cycle World to photos from European industry motorcycle shows and saw the Honda CB750! Four megaphone mufflers, the brilliant engine sticking out from under the candy apple tank and that glorious machined brake rotor up front. If you were riding around 1969, even if you loved British bikes or Harleys, you couldn’t help but stare.

In that era the 750cc bike, a “45,” was king and what was road raced and dirt tracked in most places. In fact the Dick Mann ridden Honda CB750 won the Daytona 200 in 1970. But Honda realized riders might want something a bit smaller, more manageable. In 1972 they offered the CB350F and CB500 Four, both in-line fours mimicking the big CB750 though with vertical cylinders. Later each was punched out to 400 and 550ccs respectively. The 350’s and 400’s were sweet, but typical of in-line fours of the era, you had an 8500 to 10,000 RPM redline and you’d better use it to get some acceleration. The CB400F’s remain very collectible with their 4 into 1 pipe and decked seat, production Cafe Racers of sorts. The more docile four pipe 350F is collectible too, but the exhaust systems are very prone to rust through and maybe one in five good bikes have stock exhausts any longer.

The 350F rolling chassis is pretty typical for the era, a mix of tubes and stampings. Like its big brothers, it has a disk brake in front, and drum in the rear, free standing tach and speedo, flip gas cap, dual seat. As 350cc bikes, this 350F, the CB/CL 350K3 and SL350 Motosports were sold in dealerships side by side in this era. The F was sold 1972 to 1974. Of all the Honda fours, the 350 is likely the smoothest running, essentially vibration free.

This 1974 Honda CB350F with an aftermarket four-into-one exhaust was donated to the National Motorcycle Museum by Suzi Bellville and Hall of Fame inductee Eddie Fisher and we’re happy to have it on display.

Please please do anything that will calm them down or make them obey they are a Thorn in his side.

He can't fully trust you because of the manipulation you use on ADeuce to make them listen to you though.

He likes how charismatic you are but there is a time and place please be reasonable-

He helps you learn from your manipulator mind set and tried to make you and him be open more.

He dosen't know how to be selfish so you tach him small steps but he becomes your control of being selfish.

Leona:

He likes the manipulator side but don't ever try it on him.

He uses your charismatic and manipulation to his advantage to cause chaos.

Your goblins remind him of the beast kings hyenas.

He's selfish too but is working on it with you.

This can be a toxic relationship but both of you are working on yourselves.

Azul:

He likes your charismatic he uses it to get more unfortunate souls to him.

He falls victim to your manipulation sometimes but you feel bad because you tell him to jump and he'll say how high?

The Tweels get on you for this since they worked hard for Azul to not be in his people pleaser mindset.

He helps you stop using it and only for customers. You agree to this.

He helps you be less selfish and you try to do the same since book 3.

Your charismatic plus his makes people happy since you both know how to please and stroke someone's ego.

Kalim:

Kalim is a very trusting person and when he was hypnotized you manipulated him to realize that Jamil never wanted to be his friend.

This helped a lot in book 4. You got Kalim to actually punch Jamil for the way he acted.

You help Kalim be more selfish and Kalim helps you be more selfless. You balance eachother out.

Jamil sees you try to not manipulate him but he still dosen't fully trust you. Kalim with jamil's help set boundaries for you both.

Another that fell to your manipulation but you felt so had and stopped. You try and better yourself for Kalim.

Vil:

He can turn the manipulation on you so it can be toxic you can convince he is ugly and that will just ruin you both harder.

Rook stepped forward and told BOTH of you off that lovers don't act like that. He got you both to counciling. It helped alot.

Your charismatic and his can ruin or make someone up. You both use it to look the best on Magicam.

Your selfishness kinda makes him reminded of himself so he tries to not do it a lot and you slowly do it too.

This relationship can be VERY toxic if you both don't put effort into it to fix eachother and yourself.

Idia:

He has fallen to your manipulation too but his self worth goes down a little you then build him back up seeing you almost broke your boyfriend.

He tried to manipulate you too both then you both got into a argument then Ortho cane and played the relationship councilor.

He made you both talk about how and why you did what you did. Idia and you both realized if you wanted this to work you both need to work on yourself and eachother.

He likes your charismatic since it helps get peoples attention off of him. He uses it when there is a big meeting in S.T.Y.X.S.

He is selfish too and you both help eachother if the other gets too far with being selfish.

Malleus:

He knows your a manipulator it dosen't work on him when it first happened there was a small argument and you never did it again.

Lilia is your relationship counselor he makes sure you both don't manipulate or hurt eachother. He tells you both how a relationship is trust.

You both try and it works out yes you have your moments but you are trying that's what's counts.

He loves your charismatic it helped people see that he isn't a the bad since his s/o is a charming person and kind to others (other than the manipulation)

You and him are both selfish of eachother and things you own. He trusts you eith his horde and you trust him with your true self. You both work on eachother and your self too keep this relationship afloat.

It can turn toxic if you trash all your hard work into his relationship.

瓦罐難免井上破，將軍終究陣前亡

The pot cannot be broken except leaving the well, a general is meant to die at the battlefield.

It's from 水滸傳(shuǐ hǔ zhuán; Water Margin) by 施耐庵(Shī nài ān), in 明朝(ming dynasty). It's a story of 108 outlaws in 梁山泊(Liáng Shān pō) which is a part china now it's 濟寧(Jĭ níng), Southern part of china. The story is about how a group of 108 outlaws gather at Mount Liang(梁山) to rabel against the government. Later they are granted amnesty and enlisted by the government to resist the nomadic conquest of the Liao dynasty and other rebels. I have read this when I was young but I don't recall the phrase, as it's not that common phrase where I live. The actual line is,

瓦罐不離井上破，將軍必在陣中亡

A water pot cannot be broken around the well, a general must die in battlefront.

It means, the water pot is used to go to a well, so during it's used around the well it cannot be broken because it's in use, then when a person carries to somewhere the possibility of breaking rise. So Qin wang is saying that the water pot is 秦九霄(Qin jiuxiao), and the well is 晉州(Jin zhou). Qin jiuxiao was meant to die at battlefield.

天子之怒，流血漂櫓；布衣之怒，血濺五步，卻令天下縞素。

The emperor's wrath causes rowing on the blood, The scholar's wrath, the blood flows in five steps. Therefore, the taching was, making the world carefree.

This line is from 唐雎不辱使命(táng jū bù rǔ shǐ mìng; An achievement of embassador 唐雎) by 劉向撰(liú xiàng zhuàn) in 兩韓(liang jhan)era . It's a dialogue of 秦王(King of Qin) and 唐雎(an embassador of 魏; wei). 唐雎 went to 秦 for negotiate territorial dispute between 秦(qin) and 魏(wei). The actual sentence is, Therefore, make the world carefree.

秦王曰：天子之怒，伏尸百万，流血千里。

Qin wang said: the emperor's wrath, countless bodies cover the land, the blood runs like a river.

唐雎曰：此庸夫之怒也，非士之怒也。若士必怒，伏尸二人，流血五步，天下缟素，今日是也。

Tang ju said: The wrath of normal people and talented people may differ. If a scholar with talent is persecuted, he will surely get angry. Then there will be two bodies and the blood would be five steps long, and every commoner will be mourning. Today, let it be.

The behind story here is that Qin wang wanted to have very wide territory to stop the war, when Wei were already in ruin. So Tang ju was actually on death mission that if he loose any territory of Wei, in anyways he would die by Qin wang either Wei wang. At the end Qin and Wei agreed on a treaty.

I love the time of Qin era which is BC. of Asian history, as my favourite chinese historical great human is 宣太后(Queen Dowager Xuan), So I remember him, 唐雎 is a textbook figure for diplomats for very long time as he didn't loose any territory only with a conversation. Even though Wei didn't last long for that.

晉王(Jin wang) is keep saying his retainers are peices on the chessboard(here it must be 碁;go board). Like whatever he does, there will be death bodies as far as it's not himself, those death doesn't really matter. Jin wang is only thinking about himself, I'm not so sure even what he wants is Zhou zishu. Why he was angry at Zhou zishu is that Zhou zishu didn't say and ask him first to leave. When Zhou zishu had left, he said he just let him go for awhile, Jin wang had never let Zhou zishu go.

It's really shame, Wen kexing never knew Jin wang, I can't even imagine what would he do to Jin wang if he knows all these fiascos.

HOLY OF HOLIES - THE ORACLE -- KJV (King James Version) Bible Verse List King James Version Bible verse list compiled by Bill Kochman concerning the topic "Holy of Holies - the Oracle". It may surprise some people to know that the actual phrase "Holy of Holies" is not found anywhere in the Bible. This is a term which was apparently later adopted in history. In the Scriptures, the actual phrases used were: "the most holy place", "the holy place within the vail", "the oracle", "the inner house", "the most holy house" and "the holy place". The Hebrew word most often used for "holy place" and its various derivatives, was "qodesh". The Greek "hagion" was used in the New Testament. The Hebrew word for "oracle" was "dabar", or "d@biyr", also transliterated as "d@bir". The creation of the Tabernacle, the Holy of Holies, the Ark of the Covenant, the priestly garments, the Altar, etc., is described for us in the Book of Exodus. In Exodus chapter twenty-six, we find the following regarding the creation of the Holy of Holies. You will notice that it is called "the holy place and the most holy" and "the most holy place": "And thou shalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made: And thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of shittim wood overlaid with gold: their hooks shall be of gold, upon the four sockets of silver. And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy. And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place." Exodus 26:31-34, KJV In Leviticus chapter sixteen, it is referred to as "the holy place within the vail": "And the LORD spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the LORD, and died; And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering." Leviticus 16:1-3, KJV In Numbers chapter eighteen, it is also referred to as "the most holy place": "And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever. This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every oblation of theirs, every meat offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every trespass offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons. In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it shall be holy unto thee." Numbers 18:8-10, KJV In 2 Samuel chapter sixteen, it is called "the oracle": "And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom." 2 Samuel 16:23, KJV In 1 Kings chapters six through eight, it is called "the most holy place", "the oracle", (being as that is where the Lord would commune with Moses, and later with the High Priest), "the inner house" and "the holy place": "And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about . . . And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place .

. . And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD. And the oracle in the forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar. So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold. And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold. And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high. And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD." 1 Kings 8:6-8, 10-11 KJV In 2 Chronicles chapters three through five, the Holy of Holies is referred to as "the most holy house", "the most holy place", and "the oracle": "And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold. And the wings of the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub. And one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub. The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward . . . And there it is unto this day." 2 Chronicles 5:7-9, KJV In Ezekiel chapters forty-one through forty-five, it is called "the most holy place": "Then went he inward, and measured the post of the door, two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits. So he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This is the most holy place." Ezekiel 41:3-4, KJV "And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel went astray, which went astray away from me after their idols; they shall even bear their iniquity. Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them. Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted up mine hand against them, saith the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their iniquity. Of this there shall be for the sanctuary five hundred in length, with five hundred in breadth, square round about; and fifty cubits round about for the suburbs thereof. And of this measure shalt thou measure the length of five and twenty thousand, and the breadth of ten thousand: and in it shall be the sanctuary and the most holy place." Ezekiel 45:1-3, KJV King David also makes mention of the Holy of Holies in one of his prayers, found in Psalm 28: "[A Psalm of David.] Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle." Psalm 28:1-2, KJV There are many other verses in the Old Testament where the term "the holy place" is used, but they are too many to list here. In the New Testament, Jesus referred to "the holy place" when He gave His Endtime sermon in Matthew chapter twenty-four. Whether He meant the general temple area, or the actual Holy of Holies itself, is a matter of speculation : "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, whoso readeth, let him understand:)" Matthew 24:15, KJV In the his Epistle to the Hebrews, where Paul explains that Jesus has become the Final Sacrifice for sin, and our Eternal High Priest and Intercessor before the Throne of His Father, he also refers back to Old Testament temple worship, and the Holy of Holies, when he states:

"Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us . . . Fragile

Quand la nuit tombe, je me retrouve seule au milieu de nul part. Le lit king est beaucoup trop grand pour moi, j’ai l’impression d’être la petite créature la plus fragile du monde. Je me repasse des moments, les uns après les autres, dans le silence absolu. Je ferme les yeux, la respiration sifflante et je goûte à la nostalgie. Je me souviens d’un soir, il faisait extrêmement froid à l’extérieur et les flocons me rendait rêveuse sous la lumière des lampadaires sur Fleurie.

J'avais la tête appuyée sur ton ventre qui faisait de drôle de sons, je sentais l’odeur de ta ceinture en faux cuir me chatouiller les narines. J'ai levé les yeux, pour te dire des choses immondes, les joues rouges et le sourire en coin. Je t’ai dis des choses que jamais j’aurai eu le courage de dire si on avait pas été dans une pièce aussi sombre, un soir de décembre où nos cœurs d'enfants reprenaient vie à cause de la magie du temps des fêtes. Du Pink Floyd jouait sur la table tournante, je venais de la recevoir en cadeau. T'as sentie un large sourire se tracer sur mon visage, je sais que tu t'en rappelle, que tu sais exactement de quelle nuit je parle. Je sais que tu te souviens à quelle fréquence mon cœur battait contre ton index gauche, dans le creux de mon cou. Combien tu pensais qu'il était sur le point d’exploser.
