Day 5 of James Riley Appreciation Week. I chose Ships!! Here are some of my fav queer ships I like from his books, regardless of whether they’re canon or not!
Do you have any kielany headcannons when they’re dating?
They constantly break gender roles together. Bethany is more comfortable in a suit and Kiel will absolutely wear a dress, because he looks fabulous in one and he knows it.
They like going to amusement parks for dates, mostly for the rollercoasters. They love the thrill!
In the rare moments that they’re doing something relaxing together, they’re usually snuggled together inside one of their homes, combing their fingers through each other’s hairs.
They like to tackle each other with surprise hugs. Bethany once managed to knock Kiel over with one.
Bethany says I love you first. Kiel waited to say it because he wasn’t sure how Bethany felt about him, especially since it seemed like she wasn’t picking up the hints he gave that he liked her in that way. (And she wasn’t. Bethany is not good at perceiving when someone has a crush on her.)
Their first kiss takes a while to get to. Mostly because they kind of forget that’s a thing and are too busy enjoying spending time with each other on dates. Besides, they don’t need to kiss to know they romantically love each other!
Owen+Charm=Chowen(???) Oharm(???) I never liked it until book 5 even though basically nothing happened. I still imagine Charm punching Owen whenever she gets the chance, though. As a sign of affection. Also that when they’re older they would be dating in secret, even though everyone who knows them suspects that they’re dating. And that (i don’t remember if charm had any siblings because I haven’t read the full series in like, forever) if Charm had any siblings they would say ”Owen and Charm, sitting in a tree, k i s s i n g”.
However I also ship Bethany and Owen (IN DIFFERENT HEADCANONVERSES OWEN SHOULD NOT BE CHEATING) because Bethany can jump into books and because Owen’s mom is a librarian and because they’ve known each other at school.
I also ship Kiel and Bethany (once again, in different headcanons) because of what happened in book 5, even though basically nothing happened.
