hi hello i hope you don't mind but Special Interest Infodump Mode has been activated please keep hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times-
this explanation comes to us courtesy of Dark Road! You know, that cutesy little mobile game where literally the whole cast except the two protagonists dies. This is on brand bc the explanation has it's own fridge horror levels to it if i think too hard about it tbh.
So, worlds have hearts. We've known this since KH1, seen what happens to a world that loses its heart, and how they can be affected. It's rarely been expounded on beyond that however, aside vague allusions to the titular Kingdom Hearts being/harboring the Heart of All Worlds.
(which has. other implications now that i think about it but that's stepping into theorising territory. im sorry im trying really hard to stay on track honest)
fast forward to Dark Road, where we have a bunch of kids venturing out into the worlds for the first time, and as such have to have things explained to them (and thus the audience). NOW i will note here that KH looooooves unreliable narrators and characters imparting incorrect information without knowing it, so there is always the possibility that this could later turn out to be wrong, but currently I see no reason this would be the case and thus for now i feel safe in taking their words at face value unless otherwise contradicted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why are there no people? Because each world is alive, and after the Keyblade War sundering THE World into MANY Worlds, each needed to recover and restore what was lost; life, time, movement.
Tumblr media
This bit here is important, bc as a result
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of this is the direct result of the Keyblade War of old. Even after so much time, the bits of worlds are *still* recovering, and I do think there's something to be said about how like... the repition between worlds and their apparent stagnation often *stops* after Sora visits them. I don't think it's because Sora's special(tm), but rather just because of who he is; the Dark Road kids are told never to interfere, and as a result the worlds they visit that Sora also visits later are exactly the same to Sora as they were 80+ years before.
But when Sora visits the same world only a short time after his first visit, things CHANGE. Hercules' story moves forward, Simba is having a crisis about being king, Jack Skellington has learned his lesson about Christmas and is on to new shenanigans. And that's only in kh2! in kh3 we see Twilight Town fill with people, barren Olympus expands into a full town (and there's more there too with BBS and how the Wayfinder Trio may have been Olympus' start towards restoring itself completely, and Sora's later arrival more speeding things along)
my point here is *connections*, which is a consistant and overarching theme of the series. Empty worlds are baby worlds, still healing and restoring from being broken away from the rest, and what helps along that healing? Being connected to others.
Which is to say that the keyblade weilder's doctrine of 'do not interfere' while most certainly well-intentioned (as Dark Road also points out, one persons darkness is anothers light, and morality is not a solid truth across worlds, so interfering is risky at best and dangerous at worst), the flip side to this is that without being connected, without that ''interferance'', the world's restoration stagnates and struggles. It will still get there eventually (the Tangled world seems to be doing alright for example), but chances are it might've been a little easier/faster if someone had done a little interfering.
tldr keyblade war broke the worlds and reset them all to zero. As the worlds heal time stops until it's People finally pop back into existance and their stories can resume. And that's how the invisible crowds in early kh games are canon.

another thing about khdr that doesn't makes sense is that KH3 reinforces the idea that unless you submit to the power of darkness, you can't open Dark Corridors (Sora in Toy Box and Ienzo about Even)
But somehow Xehanort was able to enter one a year after DR's main story ?????
If the whole point was referencing BbS's Report 2, where Xehanort tried to withstand the darkness of the Lanes Between, then why not animate Xehanort traveling through a star field like TAV in BBS? It would have just been a repeating starry background and 1 sprite of a keyblade vehicle...

KH4 x Potential Pixar Worlds 🚀
Tumblr media
Hello! So, I know the art block has been going for awhile, and I never got past my Miraculous AU designs, but I figured I'd put this here for the time being! This one is different than other KH posts because it's not very big. Thank you for your time everyone!
The Incredibles
With a world where superheroes and superpowers are somewhat the norm, I feel the Keyblade wielders would fit in a bit better if they were looking for Sora. Based on the way KH usually does their plots, I feel like this would also take place after the first movie but before the second one. Considering the first one is more well-known too.
For party members, I can easily see Mr. Incredible, Frozone, or Elastigirl as first choices considering they are usually the main characters and are the only adults lol. Although I can see Dash and Violet as being party members or even as summons, since they're kids just like the Destiny Trio and some other KH characters. Plus special moves with their powers would be cool.
As for the world goes, I feel the main places we'd see would be both Metroville and the weird Island considering both play big roles in the movie, plus there can be more than one location in a KH world anyway. As for plot, I'm not so sure but I feel maybe having the evil robot thing come back might be a big boss level, or at least a mid-boss level? But as for other game mechanics other than fighting, I feel a different sense of traveling or maybe using different vehicles to get around might work? Like a cool car or a plane?
I know I talked alot about traveling mechanics in the last KH I did, like alot, but considering how many gadgets the supers use and fight with I feel it might be like Sora's little AR device in San Fransokyo too. Where different gadgets can do different things!
Wall-E
Now I don't see people talk about this often, but it would be so cute to meet Wall-e!!
Now I'm not sure which place specifically the story would take place, but most likely the Axiom ship! Now I'm not sure about the plot timeline, but most likely during the plot of the original movie since they spend the most time there in space. Trying to get the plant back and fighting evil robot heartless would be wild Especially if the other little goofy robots help out!
Although considering how big the Axiom ship is, it's likely the gang would get lost, especially with all the twists and turns and railings! Maybe riding the railways or helping manage the little robots could be a mini game?? Or maybe fighting the weird Auto Robot as a final boss would be cool! Navigating the ship while trying to keep him away!
Although I really want something to do with planting! Considering near the end of the movie everyone starts to grow more on Earth! Although, if the game decided to have everyone meet Wall-E before in a post storyline, maybe you can help him grow a garden! Awwwwww that’s so cute! 🥰🥰

(Major KHDR spoilers)
Something that KHDR does that makes me scratch my head is how it depicts two different methods of inter-world travel. The first is donning Keyblade Armor, leaping up into what I assume is an off-screen portal, and then traveling the Ocean Between with your Keyblade vehicle (the same method used by Terra, Ven, and Aqua in BBS; the keyblade vehicle part isn’t shown in KHDR but is mentioned in dialog if I remember correctly). The second is summoning a portal of light (on-screen) to travel (directly? semi-directly?) to another world, seemingly without needing to put on the armor at all (such as when Baldr opens up a portal to Olympus from Scala.)
Do any KH lore experts know why the game uses two different travel methods like this? Why have one portal that requires armor and one that doesn’t? And is there a reason why you would choose one method over the other despite the second one seeming easier?

Ok so I know that my last non-reblog post (at time of writing) was about Saints Row '22 but after posting those screenshots I went to Friendly Fire to fiddle with my weapons' visuals, and I noticed the pickaxe's Visual Mods section had a notification next to it; when I clicked, I saw "Saintsblade" (which was mentioned in the rewards category of the last mission I did), and wanting to know what it was (since the game doesn't say what it is), I clicked it, and
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't really care about Kingdom Hearts, but I love that Saints Row of all series has its own official keyblade design.
Tumblr media
Also, when you hit stuff with it, little purple and white fleur-de-lis symbols fly off it; additionally, hitting an NPC or vehicle makes bigger ones appear, along with stars and sparkles.
The default palette is silver with gold details, a brown handle and a purple dangly thing; I recoloured mine to match my other weapons.

Hcs where Aqua accidentally ends up on Earth via a Lane Between? I know that she’d be pretty disoriented
I just love making these meta Earth ideas! 😄
Words cannot express how much I adore Aqua; not only is she extremely relatable, she's so well-written and such an amazing character... My queen until the end, it's always a delight to write for her (and you too, Symmie, of course.)
Aqua's Experiences on Earth HCs
Tumblr media
Aqua is a very dutiful woman, so I don't think there's much reason she'd be away from people unless it was due to her duties as a Keyblade Master. So, when she gets randomly pulled away to another world by an unknown force, Aqua gets the sense that something is very wrong with the balance between light and darkness in this new world.
First, she breathes a sigh of relief that, where she lands, there are humans like her who speak the same language - it makes her life a lot easier.
Secondly, Aqua comes to the realisation that...wow, this world is so much different than any other world she's ever been to: huge buildings with blinding flashing lights and vehicles much larger and much differently shaped than her Keyblade glider. And, weirdest of all...absolutely no one recognises her Keyblade itself.
Sure, she gets a few...weird looks from some older-looking people and people dressed in luminescent uniforms, but no one really comments when strangers in other worlds may have freaked out.
Some youth calls out to her about something called "cosplaying" so she finds the nearest library (which she quickly comes to adore during her time on Earth,) and discovers that she can fit in perfectly here without people knowing her real identity.
She discovers such wonderful literature thanks to the many libraries of the world: plays, novels, newspapers, online blogs (of which the computers took her a minute and a request to the IT department to figure out how to use.)
Instead of leaving straight away, Aqua wants to explore this new world, to make sure no darkness is trying to snub out the light. She spends her nights using public transport and nervously talking to strangers about this world. She normally gets...mixed reception - people look at her rather strange when she asks about the mysterious lumps of metal on wheels.
Procuring money was difficult for her too. She tries to use munny first, of course, but is glared at by a acne-ridden young man behind a counter. Trust me, she leaves in a huff when he tells her to get out with her "doll's house money." Still, Keyblade magic can do many things, including making this new kind of currency. (She quietly apologises to Master Eraqus for inadvertently "scamming" these poor people - she doesn't have the time to get a job!)
Aqua finds a whole lot of joy in observing as young children come home from school, swinging large, heavy bookbags and smiling at their friends and carers: it reminds her of when she and Terra were young with their Master.
Being the kind soul she is, Aqua often approaches some more melancholic-looking children and hands them some extra money she's made - she doesn't really need it anyway, and seeing those little faces brighten up makes her day.
When Aqua finally decides that it's time for her to leave, she finds she...doesn't really want to. She has found so many beautiful moments on Earth and has so many things she wants to show her friends that can't fit in her pockets! She decides to bring pack some gifts for Terra and Ven, and has copied down some recipes from human baking books to bake for them. Of course, she was also quick enough to take some photos on her Gummiphone.

Kingdom Hearts: The Brightest of Hearts - Chapter 10: The Spider in the Web of Darkness Part 1
Disclaimer: I am fully aware the Spiderman Movie is not a Disney movie, but Marvel is owned by Disney and thought I hate their recent aggressive marketing practices (if you know, you know) I still take it as an opportunity to have bits of the marvel universe into the kingdom hearts universe. Might as well make something good out of all the bad. Furthermore, this is a fanfiction, so anything goes regardless. Anyways without further ado, here's Chapter 10 of Kingdom Hearts: The Brightest of Hearts.
***
Sora was using the controller to shoot off the Heartless ships that invaded the tunnel. It's been a while since they saw Heartless ships, but Sora still remembered how to shoot them down. Sora was smiling as he was firing as this was a breeze for him, he felt glad to be doing something that hadn't been easy in a while. Goofy and Donald on the other hand were watching Sora in concern. Donald told Goofy about his guilt and how he was afraid that he encouraged Sora to push himself when the end was so close. To Donalds annoyance, Goofy made a joke about Donald not noticing the obvious. It was only afterwards, when Goofy shared in on Donalds fear of Sora pushing himself. This time when the bigger ships showed up Sora quickly used the aim to lock onto them and shot them down instantly with the missiles. Sora cheered in triumph knowing that he was able to finally defeat the larger ships with ease that originally nearly shot them down several times.
"Hm, I don't know Donald. It's not normal for us to skip Traverse Town but I think he's actually doing ok."
"Maybe but still if he's pushing himself, we need to stop him."
"I'm actually still surprised you care about Donald; it was you who said he needed to grow up faster, A-hyuk!" Donald then glared at Goofy in disappointment.
"I'm not as dumb as I look, Goofy and... I try not to be as cold as I act." Goofy was actually taken a-back by this but just chuckled as he was glad that Donald was trying to be more open to other people's feelings now. It was a little overdue but better late than never. Soon there weren't any more Heartless ships for Sora to deal with, making the rest of the light tunnel a peaceful passage.
***
Once they were finally out of the tunnel, they entered the world of New York City. Sora couldn't help but look out the windows of the Gummi ship in awe. This was the biggest city Sora had ever seen and by the looks of it there was a festival currently going on. There were large balloons of shapes and mascots that Sora didn't recognize but still found cool. Chip and Dale were quick to activate the cloaking device of the ship though Sora hardly noticed. Instead, Sora's eyes were caught by a strange object flying in the air around the balloons. After looking closer Sora could see that it was actually a man in green armor, riding some kind of flying vehicle. Sora wondered if this was normal but before he could think about it, the Green Goblin started throwing bombs at the building causing people to run and scream in terror.
"Ok nothing normal about that!" To make matters worse, in the middle of the crowd Sora saw a Void portal manifesting a Keyblade Wielder of Darkness exited. He quickly started slashing people to turn them into Soldier Heartless. Sora didn't even hesitate to head to the Gummi ship door and exit out, jumping onto the roof of a building. Sora could hear Donald and Goofy telling him to come back but he didn't listen, he was more focused on helping the people any way he could. Upon getting a closer look Sora saw the Greek goblin holding a grenade and throwing it at several grownups on the building balcony. The grenade exploded and turned them all into Heartless that had green armor and green wings allowing them to fly. Sora was shocked, he knew how the Emblem Heartless were made, but to see it was horrific. Sora grunted in a mixture of anger and frustration as, without even thinking, he manifested his Fairy Harp Keyblade which allowed him to fly down there. As the people tried to flee, The Keyblade Wielder of Darkness commanded Soldier and Goblin Heartless to surround them to prevent them from escaping while he turned more innocent people into Emblem Heartless.
Thankfully Sora flew in and kicked the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness away from the people. Sora then manifested his Pumpkinhead Keyblade to shoot down the Goblin Heartless. Sora knew this wouldn't be enough to hurt them; he just needed them to divert their attention from the civilians to him. Thankfully it worked as the Soldier and Goblin Heartless were approaching him and ignoring the civilians as they all ran away. However now Sora had multiple problems, he was surrounded by Heartless, Another Keyblade Wielder of Darkness, and currently the Green Goblin was going to attack Mary Jane as well as the other people on the balcony. Sora could only hope that Donald and Goofy would come sooner and help him out in saving these people from the villains and Heartless.
However, something even better happened, Spiderman swung toward the Green Goblin and kicked him off his glider. Sora was in awe at the sight of Spiderman, he wasn't like any hero he heard of or read about, but he was still clearly a hero. Sora cheered at the sight of Spiderman as did other civilians. Sora then smirked in determination as he faced the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness and the Heartless with more confidence this time. The Keyblade Wielder of Darkness's Keyblade was dark purple with silver details and silver spear ended spikes around the ring handle, the bit of the key was made up of several silver spear ends making it look like a sort of metal fan. However, this keyblade Wielder of Darkness was different, he was holding the sword in a Hasso no Kamae stance, Sora couldn't help but be wide-eyed at the sight. Sora felt a hint of fear but also admiration, the way the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness held his keyblade showed he was a seasoned veteran, nothing like the previous ones he fought.
Sora normally had his keyblade pointed at the enemy and mindlessly slashed but now he felt completely outmatched. Sora quickly changed into a Sha No Kamae stance, the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness scoffed at the sight since from the stance alone he could see Sora was a novice. Sora felt embarrassed, he only knew these stances from vaguely learning them from Riku who learned them from his dad. As such, Sora barely knew anything beyond the names. Sora just had to strike when it felt right and hoped for the best, he was lucky enough that the Heartless were standing back due to the orders of the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness, so he had to make it count. Sora charged forward and tried to make a powered but focused strike, However the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness managed to parry the attack and quickly spin around to swing the blade toward Sora from the other direction. Sora was stunned by the recoil of the perry and thus couldn't even dodge the incoming slash. Sora remembered the feeling of being slashed by a Keyblade of Darkness and it didn't feel good.
Sora fell to the ground while grunting in pain, his body only glitched out of existence for a short while but it still hurt unbelievably. The Keyblade Wielder of Darkness again scoffed at the sight of Sora on the ground and in pain. Sora then saw Spiderman go flying and crash into a lamp post after getting punched by the Green Goblin. Sora heard the Keyblade of Darkness mutter, "pathetic, you both are." He then backed off as the Heartless approached Sora. Sora grunted in frustration; he never felt so embarrassed by his novice sword skills before. Still now was not the time to feel self-pity, so Sora forced himself to get up and face the incoming Heartless. The Goblin Heartless started manifesting fireballs in their helmet mouths, ready to blast Sora. Sora was shocked at first but quickly smiled as he manifested his Three Wishes Keyblade. Upon forcing the magic fireball blasts back toward the Goblin Heartless all but three were destroyed.
The three remaining Goblin Heartless were badly hurt but all roared in anger as they flew toward Sora. Sora quickly manifested his Olympia Keyblade, he blocked the first strike of a Goblin Heartless and struck back causing it to fly away as it burst. Sora did the same thing for the second Goblin Heartless only for the third one to sneak up behind him and scratch his back. Sora grunted in pain as he manifested his Jungle King Keyblade to wrap a vine around the Goblin Heartless and swing in upward and slam it down in front of him, destroying it and releasing the cursed heart within.
The Soldier Heartless slowly started approaching, Sora tried to raise his Keyblade but he was still badly hurt and getting tired quickly. However, the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness ordered them to stop as he looked toward the balcony. Sora looked as well and saw Spiderman disabling Green Goblin's glider forcing him to retreat. Afterwards Spiderman quickly saved Mary Jane from falling to her death. The Keyblade Wielder of Darkness scoffed and opened another void to let both Soldier Heartless and himself escape. Sora wanted to go after him, but he was too weak to try and knew that if he used his remaining strength to do so, the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness would defeat him instantly. Instead, Sora sighed in defeat and would have to just go on looking for Donald and Goofy.
"Hey kid you, ok?" Sora then saw Stan Lee to his left looking at him with confusion and concern.
"Uh, yeah I just... It's been a long day..."
"No kidding. Say I saw you fighting those freaks. What's a kid like you saving the day like that? Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful but maybe a kid your age shouldn't be doing it."
"... tell me about it. I know but, If I don't do it then who will?"
"Hm, I guess that's fair, still though I hope you have someone watching your back at least."
"Oh, I do, but they're probably going to be mad after I ran off by myself."
"I think I would be too kid, but to be fair. If they weren't mad that would mean they didn't care enough about you."
"Hm, I guess that's true, well I better go looking for them. Goodbye mister!"
"It's Stan Lee, don't forget it, spiky hair!" Sora then giggled as he manifested his Fairy Harp Keyblade to go back to the roofs and find where the Gummi ship landed.
"How about that, a man with the powers of a spider and a boy who can fly, what's next? A man made out of Iron?"
***
When Sora found the Gummi ship, they were on the roof of an abandoned apartment building, right as the sun was coming down. Sora was forced to bow down in shame while Donald was hitting him on the head with his staff.
"Don't wander off alone! Don't do anything reckless! Don't do anything stupid! Why do you never listen!" Donald was finally done and huffed as he turned his back on Sora in disappointment. Goofy then walked over to Sora and placed his hand on Sora's shoulder.
"That was very reckless of you Sora, please don't ever do it again."
"I'm sorry you guys, I just couldn't stand by and watch, not while those Dark Army jerks were hurting people." Goofy was surprised by this but smiled at Sora for his good intentions and kind heart. Donald sighed as he couldn't refute Sora for trying to help others in their time of need.
"*sigh* It's good that you're fighting bravely Sora, but don't forget to fight smart as well, okay?!"
"Yes, I got it Donald."
"Good, now let's review our game plan here. This world is much more advanced in civilization than any other world we've been at. It's even more populated and advanced than Traverse Town. I know that whole ‘interfering with the world's’ rules isn't something we follow anymore but I think we should follow it in this world. In a world as advanced as this news will travel fast so It's better to stay out of sight until the Dark Conduit and that Green Goblin guy shows himself."
"Wha? hm, ok. But can't we at least see some cool places like a library or... a restaurant?" Donald then grunted at Sora who shrugged knowing his plan probably wouldn't work but still wanted to try. Goofy sighed and shook his head, but then a newspaper flew onto his face which he struggled to get off. Once Goofy finally got the newspaper off his face, he saw the front page and was shocked.
"Uh, Sora. Sorry to say but I don't think we'll be able to visit anywhere." Doanld and Sora looked at Goofy in confusion, and Goofy then showed them the newspaper. The headline stated "New York, New Home of Vigilantes?" and with the newspaper saying "new vigilante Green Goblin joins forces with Spiderman to attack innocent people. The board of Oscorp Industries have been killed and turned into frightening monsters by the villainous duo. Meanwhile a strange child with a giant golden key is seen to be fighting the third vigilante known as "Shadow Master". Unlike Spiderman who saved no one, the strange child now called "The Key Master" has been seen saving civilians while fighting the Shadow Master and his monsters. J. Jonah Jameson states 'Finally! First that Spiderman menaces then the Goblin freak and now the Shadow Master! Now finally a real hero has shown up to save and protect the fine people of New York. It's just a shame it had to be a little kid, but that's what people get for betting all of their money on a menace like Spider man!'" Then beside the writing there was a picture of Sora fighting one of the Goblin Heartless with another picture next to it showing Spiderman swinging around trying to fight off the Green Goblin. However, the picture had a caption stating that Spiderman was working with the Green Goblin. Sora couldn't help but be confused as to why only he was described as a hero while Spider Man was said to be a villain.
"Oh no! See this is exactly what I meant! It seems people think you're a hero of this world now but if they knew there were ways to travel across the multiverse, they would lose their minds! That would unleash the kind of chaos that the Dark Army wants! We have to stay undercover now if we want to keep this world safe... Sora are you listening?"
"Huh, so his name is Spiderman, and he has the powers of a spider. Is that why people dislike him? Because of his relation to spiders? I don't like spiders either, but he was still cool in my opinion."
"Sora!"
"I heard you, Donald! It's just kind of a buzzkill to be forced to sneak around in a massive world like this! Just imagine what kind of games they have, food they eat, books they read! I wonder if they have video games as well. Mom and Dad told me I'd have access to video games once I was old enough to leave the Island. Hey, I wonder if this place is any similar to Twilight Town! Twilight Town is the place where Destiny Islanders go when we're old enough to leave by the way." Sora just looked over the edge of the building while admiring the entirety of New York City in awe. Donald was getting red in anger at Sora's attention drifting off easily like that and was about to yell at him in anger but Goofy covered his mouth and held him back. Donald quickly managed to get out of Goofy's grip and grunted in anger as he stomped back to the Gummi ship in anger. Goofy sighed but then walked toward the edge with Sora and patted him on the back as he looked at the city too.
"It really is an amazing city isn't it."
"Yeah... me, Riku, and Kairi always wanted to see stuff like this... I really wish the Dark Army never showed up to ruin it all." Goofy looked at Sora and saw the sadness on his face, Goofy then gently patted his back to comfort him.
"It's just one more world Sora, one more world and Maleficent is going down." Sora then went wide-eyed in shock; he remembered what Kairi told him about Ansem being the true leader of the Dark Army. Granted the Dark voice in his head said it was someone else, all be it vaguely, but that didn't put Sora at ease at all. Even if it was someone else with coincidently the same name, that didn't deny the fact that there was someone above Maleficent and the other Lords of Darkness meaning they were a lot stronger, possibly stronger than all of them combined. Sora just faced off against a Keyblade Wielder of Darkness that proved to have the skills to back up his magical power, so the idea of facing someone stronger than a Lord of Darkness was not ideal. As such Sora started shaking in fear but he tried to wear a smile for now since everyone told him being negative wasn't good.
"Yeah, just one more world and this is all over." Goofy then looked over to Sora again and saw his hand shaking and his forced smile. Goofy then sighed in sadness, he could now see why Donald felt so guilty about putting pressure on Sora to get over his problems quickly.
***
About a few days went by with Sora, Donald, and Goofy swooping in and stopping random Goblin Heartless from attacking innocent people. Frustratingly the Keyblade Wielder of Darkness was nowhere to be seen, though a small part of Sora was glad. Sora cursed the part of himself that was glad since he knew the reason, he felt glad because he was afraid. Sora wanted a rematch and quickly but knew better than to complain as complaining never gets anything done. Instead, Sora simply tried to practice different sword strikes, stances, and defenses as well as anything else he could think of or remember. Goofy even tried to help by allowing Sora to strike his shield though what Sora really wanted was a swordsman to train with. If he had that he would be able to adapt faster and learn quicker but still Sora wasn't so ignorant to dismiss the help Goofy was willing to give him.
However, training had to end when a fire started in an apartment complex close to where they were. Thankfully Spiderman showed up to quickly save a baby still stuck inside, Sora looked at how the fire was getting worse, so Sora wanted to help. Sora looked back at Donald, expecting him to protest but instead Donald sighed and nodded to show he allowed Sora to go. Sora smiled and quickly ran over to the streets while manifesting his Crabclaw Keyblade. Once Sora landed on the streets, he used the keyblade to manifest as much water as possible and blast it all onto the building to put out all the fire. Thankfully it worked rather quickly and as such everyone watching quickly started clapping at the sight. Spiderman then jumped out from a window with a baby in his hands.
"Well, I wasn't expecting rain today. Anyways here you go ma'am."
"My baby! Bless you spider Man! Both of you!" Sora scratched the back of his head in embarrassment, but then looked up at spiderman when he placed his hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, I remember you, you're that kid who saved everybody from those shadow freaks. Thanks, by the way." Sora smiled in pride from receiving praise from a real-life superhero.
"Freeze!" However, the happy moment was quickly ruined when the police showed up.
"Spiderman you're under arrest! And you kid, put down the sword! We're taking you to child services!" Sora groaned in disappointment but mainly toward himself, he had a feeling Donald was going to be mad about all of this.
"Help! Help me, I'm stuck in here!" Everyone heard what sounded like a woman screaming in fear and in pain, Sora on impulse alone jumped high into the air and landed inside the building without even realizing how high he jumped. Sora didn't even care about the police screaming angrily at him to come back. Sora looked around for the girl to see where she was, he was so focused on finding her he didn't notice Spiderman and even jumped in fear when he touched Sora's shoulder.
"Ah! Sorry about that, but seriously kid you gotta stop jumping into danger like that."
"... Sorry, Donald tells me the same thing, it's just... when I see someone who needs help I just... have to, you know?"
"... Uncle Ben would have loved to have met you."
"What?" The conversation was quickly interrupted when they heard the screaming again, Spiderman told Sora to wait there while he went to check up on the girl. This became a mistake as the girl was the Green Goblin, and he wasn't alone. Several Shadow Heartless were with him as well.
"Well boys you seem to be outnumbered, but for you Spiderman that doesn't have to be true, unless you've reconsidered my proposal?"
"I have actually, there's no way I would ever join you to hurt innocent people."
"You... you! No one says no to me! No one! Get them my Heartless!" The Shadow Heartless jumped forward, trying to swarm Spiderman but Sora jumped forward and slashed then all away. With the Shadow Heartless now spread-out Sora took the opportunity to slash at the Green Goblin but to his shock, a simple slap from the Green Goblin was enough to counter.
"Ha! You'll have to try better than that, child!" Sora frowned as he manifested his Olympia Keyblade and slashed again with the Green Goblin again countering with a simple slap. This time, however, the Green Goblin was pushed back to the other side of the building.
"Better for ya?"
"Grah! You have spunk! But that will only get you so far!" The Green Goblin then activated one of his gadgets that transformed into flying saw blades heading right for Sora. Sora had no time to dodge them, but Spiderman thankfully used his spiderwebs to get Sora and pull him out of the way to avoid the blades. Spiderman then tried to help Sora up but a Shadow Heartless jumped him, thankfully he managed to destroy it with a single punch. While the two of them were distracted the Green Goblin walked toward them and stepped on Sora's back while punching Spiderman several times.
"You're weak! Both of you! But together we could have been strong! The Dark Army could have made us even stronger!"
"You idiot! The Dark Army is trying to destroy worlds! They'll destroy this one too!"
"Hahaha! Fine with me! I don't care how many people die so long as I get results!" Spiderman then managed to punch the Green Goblin but right afterwards had to dodge a spinning blade flying right towards him. Sora slowly got up, but Spiderman kicked him in order to get him to avoid getting cut by another spinning blade. Sora then looked at Spiderman hurt, he knew he saved him, but he wished he didn't do it so painfully.
"Uh, Sorry!" Another spinning blade then flew right at Spiderman and unfortunately another Shadow Heartless jumped him preventing him from dodging properly. Spiderman ended up getting his arm cut but managed to grab the Shadow Heartless and ram it into the spinning blade, destroying them both. Sora then finally got up and grabbed two Shadow Heartless that were trying to ambush him. He then threw them at the two remaining spinning blades destroying all of them. Sora smiled in pride but was quickly smacked on the head by the Green Goblin. Sora grunted in pain and tried to use his Olympia Keyblade to bash the Green Goblin again, only for him to grab Sora's keyblade, preventing him from moving at all.
"Hahaha, what are you gonna do now little hero? take me out all on your own?"
"Who says he's alone?" Spiderman then charged at the Green Goblin punching him in the face hard enough to get him to back off. He then punched the Green Goblin only this time hard enough to make him fly in the air. Then Spiderman used his webs to catch Green Goblin by the face and pull him back to Spiderman only to kick the Green Goblin in the face. Once again, the Green Goblin went flying only this time harder, and ended up breaking several walls from the impact. The Green Goblin quickly got up and growled in anger, he then activated two of his bombs and quickly threw them at Sora and Spiderman. Sora was about to create an ice wall using magic, but Spiderman quickly grabbed Sora by the back of his shirt and used his webs to pull himself and Sora out of the building.
***
Spiderman didn't stop until they were a safe distance away from the building, afterwards he dropped Sora off at the top of another building roof.
"Sorry about that. I just wanted to be sure you were safe is all."
"Oh, it's fine, that was actually fun! I'm Sora by the way!"
"Sora huh, are you sure you want to tell me that? I think you've already seen it's not a good idea to reveal your own identity like that. Your parents might end up in trouble and are probably extremely worried about you."
"Oh, don't worry, I don't have to worry about something like that."
"Really? Well, if you say so I guess. I'm Spider Man by the way. That's not my real name but you know my secret identity and all that. I don't have the same situation as you so I kinda got to keep it, you know?"
"Nah it's ok I get it, I've read lots of comic books, but I never actually imagined I would get to meet a real superhero before!"
"Ah, haha yeah, you really are a kid. You got all this hope and joy in you. I mean it's not a bad thing it's just... why is a kid like you even fighting those shadow freaks anyways?"
"I well... I can't give you the whole story but... those shadows are called the Heartless and they destroyed my home with the help of the Dark Army. I was given the keyblade to stop them and I'm the only one who can wield it. I know I'm too young for this, and there are times where I want to stop but... I'm the only one who can so I feel like I just HAVE to keep pushing forward. Because if I don't, no one else can, and I would never forgive myself if I didn't at least try to stop the Dark Army."
"... With great power comes great responsibility."
"What?"
"Ah, it's uh, something my uncle told me, and it's the words I try to live by. I gotta say though, I'm a little jealous, you practically embody those words to a T and you're much younger than me."
"You embody those words too! I saw you save that girl the other day from falling to her death and earlier you saved that baby from a fire."
"Heh, thanks I guess I really needed to hear that today. You know I'm kinda surprised you said you never met a real superhero before since well, you're basically a superhero yourself." Sora was shocked and about to deny this but the more he thought about it the more what Spiderman said made sense. Sora's eyes then sparkled in excitement at the idea that logically he really was a superhero. Spiderman chuckled a little at the sight of Sora being excited about this stuff.
"Sora!" Sora then turned around and Spiderman looked in the same direction for them both to see Donald and Goofy approaching them. Goofy looking genuinely worried while Donald was stomping towards them furiously.
"Donald! Goofy! This is Spider Man the hero who was at the festival the other-" Donald quickly wacked Sora on the head with his staff leaving Sora in pain, Goofy disappointed, and Spiderman in shock.
"I only let you go help those people because I thought you were just going to put a fire out! But no! You're also going to fight a group of heartless with that green weirdo all by yourself! Don't get mad at us for not being there if you're not going to let us catch up!"
"Hey! Hey! Take it easy! Why's a kid like you hitting him like that anyways?"
"I'm not a kid! I'm a grown adult!" Spiderman looked at Donald in confusion, not able to believe him even for a second. Spiderman then looked at the sky and jolted as if he remembered something.
"Crap! The dinner is today! Sorry guys, but I have to go! It was nice meeting your friends, Sora! I hope we can meet again soon!" Spider Man then shot a web and swung away while Sora looked at him as he was quickly getting out of sight. Sora smiled pridefully at Spider Man as he left, Sora was deficiently going to tell Riku and Kairi about this once he saved them.
"Sora!" Sora then sighed and turned around to see a still angry Donald glaring at him.
"Oh, come on Donald, what was I supposed to do? It all happened so fast there wasn't even time to think. I'm sorry I left you guys, but I hope you know I don't regret putting out that fire or helping those people OR helping Spiderman." Donald knew that continuing to be angry at this point would be petty, so he instead huffed and turned his head from Donald. Goofy, however, walked up to Sora and gently placed his hand on Sora's shoulder.
"I shouldn't be saying this Sora, but you did do good today. If you ever hear a little voice in your head or your heart to tell you to help those in need, you should always listen to it. Because that's what makes ANYONE a hero. So as far as I'm concerned, you are a true hero Sora." Sora couldn't help but blush out of the overwhelming joy from that compliment, Sora then hugged Goofy to show his appreciation. Goofy chuckled and hugged Sora back. Donald still had his arms crossed in anger but looked back at them to see Sora and Goofy hugging. Donald then looked to the ground in shame and sighed as he still couldn't tell if he was being too harsh or not harsh enough on Sora. Donald then looked at Goofy and saw him showing such a warm smile while he was staring at Sora.
"... man, guess it really does pay to be a parent doesn't it."
***
Another week passed and yet there was still no sign of the Green Goblin or the Dark Conduit. For the first time since their adventure started Sora and Donald were getting equally restless to find the Dark Conduit. This confused and slightly scared Goofy since he never saw Donald and Sora agreeing much on anything before. There were less and less Heartless attacks as time went on, leaving them with little to do but wait. Sora did like to pass by the time by looking down from the roofs to see how the world of New York City worked. He was amazed by how many tall buildings there were, how many restaurants, how many cars, and just how many people in general.
Then just like that another day had passed with absolutely nothing happening. Sora couldn't help but sigh in disappointment, he was glad to be learning so many things about another world, but it felt wasted if he could do nothing to stop those trying to destroy it. However, as the moon was rising to show the darkness of the night an explosion could be heard near one of the bridges. Sora quickly got up and looked at Donald and Goofy.
"Come on guys, this HAS to be the work of the Dark Conduit. Let's go liberate this world!"
"About time! Let's end this!"
"We're with you Sora! All for One and One for All!" Sora then manifested his Fairy Harp Keyblade and flew toward the direction of the bridge with Donald and Goofy following him by hopping from roof to roof. Sora noticed it was slowly getting harder for Donald and Goofy to travel so he put his keyblade on his back and extended his hands for them so they could grab onto him. Now the three of them were flying toward the bridge and just in time Spiderman came swinging in as well. Unfortunately, the Green Goblin had both Mary Jane and a cable car full of children hostage.
"Time to choose, hero! The woman you love or the helpless children?!"
"Ha! Jokes on you! There's four of us and we know magic, we can save everyone with ease!"
"Is that so? Then let's make things even, shall we?" Sora's heart sank for a second when he recognized whose voice that was. Sora quickly manifested his Olympia Keyblade and swung it around to hit the Dark Conduit behind him. However, the Dark Conduit proved to be stronger and grabbed the keyblade and kicked Sora in the stomach. Donald tried to help but was slashed by the Dark Conduit's keyblade practically making him fly away and nearly fall off the bridge. Goofy only barely managed to block with his shield but still the Dark Conduit managed to make Spiderman completely alone to fight off the Green Goblin.
"Whoopsie daisy!" The Green Goblin then let go of both Mary Jane and the cable car. Sora tried to get up and help the cable car hoping Spiderman would go after Mary Jane, but the Dark Conduit stomped on his back, pinning him down.
"How does it feel to know that all your efforts were just delaying the inevitable?"
"I don't know, how does it feel to lose to a kid?" Sora then bashed his fist on the bridge's steel and through his earth magic cut out a single cylinder of steel without hurting the bridge's structure. The steel cylinder then shot up and hit the Dark Conduit right in the face, not knocking him out but causing him to look balanced and fall hard on the road of the bridge. Now Sora was free to focus on helping Spiderman save Mary Jane and the cable car. When Sora ran to the edge of the bridge, he saw Spiderman barely holding both as his webs were tearing apart and quickly. Sora then noticed the Green Goblin charging at them with the intent of stabbing Spiderman and Mary Jane with the blades on his glider. Sora quickly shot a fireball at the Green Goblin to get his attention and afterwards manifested his Fairy Harp Keyblade. Sora then flew down to face the Green Goblin face-to-face while in the air.
"That's enough, your fight's with me now!"
"Another little kid trying to play hero? What is this world coming to? Why waste your life protecting these worthless vermin?! They would never do the same for you! You heroes are nothing but merchandise to them! The moment you fall, they'll just laugh! And I'll be there to join them! Here, I'll show you!" The Green Goblin then threw more spinning blades at Sora, but he managed to destroy them both with a single swing of his keyblade. However now Sora was left wide open, allowing the Green Goblin to grab him by the throat and hold him up in the air. The Green Goblin then slapped Sora's keyblade away so that he couldn't fly his way out of the Green Goblin's grasp.
"Hahaha, now who's laughing."
"Leave them alone!" A tire wrench then hit the Green Goblin in the head forcing him to let go of Sora. Sora was able to remanifest his keyblade allowing him to fly in the air again. Sora then looked to the side of the bridge to see all the people throwing stuff at the Green Goblin to keep him off of Spiderman and Sora.
"Yeah, take that! You mess with these guys, you mess with New York!"
"You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!"
"Is that so?" All the people then looked the other way to the Dark Conduit slowly approaching them.
"Then let's test that theory, shall we?" The Dark Conduit raised his keyblade to turn them all into heartless. He would have done so if Goofy hadn't jumped down and blocked the slash with his shield. The recoil from the impact forced the Dark Conduit back away from everyone, Goofy then stood up and raised his shield while facing the Dark Conduit with determination. The Dark Conduit growled in anger but then out of pain when a large charge of lightning hit him in the back. The Dark Conduit then painfully turned around to see Donald there with his magic staff.
Sora managed to see everything and was happy to know Donald and Goofy could handle the Dark Conduit. Better yet a boat passed by, allowing Spiderman to gently let the cable car and Mary Jane down safely. Everyone started clapping now that they were all safe, it seemed like everything finally worked out. Or at least it would have but the Green Goblin then charged Spiderman and rammed him into a void. Before Sora could do anything, another void opened in front of him and out came the Dark Conduit. He grabbed Sora by the throat to prevent him from escaping.
"This is the end." The last thing Sora could hear was Donald and Goofy calling out his name before getting pulled into the void.
***
Sora was thrown onto the ground of an old building, right beside Spiderman. Before either of them could get up the Green Goblin threw a bomb at them with only seconds from detonating. Spiderman quickly pushed Sora away but still, both were caught in the blast. The only difference being the bomb got Spiderman's face and Sora's back. The force from the bomb was enough to send them both in different directions but through several walls. Sora grunted as he tried to get up, he couldn't remember the last time he was in this much pain. Unfortunately, it wasn't over until the Dark Conduit kicked Sora in the stomach to force him to ram into another wall and onto the ground again.
"Heh, how did a weakling like you manage to defeat so many of us? Well, it doesn't matter, we all knew the risks and now there's more bits of infinity for the rest of us. Though I guess every bit of infinity is just another infinity but whatever." Sora cast an ice spell to make an ice spike grow and stab the Dark Conduit in the face. The Dark Conduit broke the ice before it could even reach him, he then kicked Sora in the stomach again. Sora then threw a fireball at the Dark Conduit's face, which hit this time. Braig's hood flew off from the flames and with his face revealed, he glared at Sora with the eyepatch on his right eye, was now burnt.
"Are you mocking me?" Sora ignored his question and quickly raised his keyblade to slash Braig only for him to dodge and punch Sora in the face.
"So predictable, so weak! I used to be like you! I used to believe that my determination would lead to a better world. But my master showed me the truth, and I'll never forget what he said about the Light, the Darkness, and the true secret to power." Sora was in a lot of pain but still forced himself to get up regardless, this time Braig didn't stop him.
"Why are you still trying? Do you honestly think you can beat me?"
"I... I don't know if I can beat you, but I sure am going to try!" Sora raised his keyblade to strike but Braig used his keyblade to block. Braig then looked back to see the Green Goblin punching Spiderman again and again until he fell to the ground.
"Heh, so naive, but I understand where you come from. It's for that, that I honestly pity you kid, you're going to die achieving absolutely nothing!" Braig then pushed Sora back with his keyblade and tried to strike him, but Sora barely managed to block it with his keyblade.
"Grrr! Why won't you just fall already! Why do you keep fighting! Why don't you just give up!"
"What kind... of stupid question is that?!" Sora then lifted his Keyblade with all his might and slashed Braig in the process, forcing him back. At the same time Spiderman used his remaining strength to punch the Green Goblin. Now both Spiderman and Sora were fighting back their respective villains. Sora didn't even notice his heart was glowing golden like when he fought Dark Sora.
"I fight to protect my friends!" Sora manifested his Jungle King Keyblade and made a jungle vine grow out and latch onto Braig's ankle. After pulling his keyblade back, Braig fell to the ground.
"I fight to protect innocent lives!" Sora ran to Braig, manifested his Olympia Keyblade and slashed him in the chest not only cutting him but also pushing him through the floor with great force.
"I fight! Because I'd rather fight to make things better, than lay down and do nothing!" When Braig fell to the floor below, Pumpkinhead Keyblade shot four Jack-o-lantern missiles at him, making him fall down another floor. Sora then landed on a safe area and looked down on the hole he made, he couldn't see Braig anymore, so he just assumed the Dark Conduit was defeated.
Now Sora could focus on the Green Goblin, who was fighting intensely with Spiderman. Sora charged forward at them and slashed the Green Goblin with his Olympia Keyblade. The Green Goblin was rammed into the wall, Spiderman then ran up to him and continued to punch him in the face. Sora was glad at first but then felt that Spiderman may have been punching him too much. However, the Green Goblin ended up being the one to stop the fighting.
"Peter! Peter, stop! It's me!"
"Mr. Osborn? You're the Green Goblin."
"You know this guy?!"
"He's the father of my best friend. But if he's the Green Goblin then that means he turned all those people into those shadow monsters. He hurt my Aunt May, and he tried to kill all those people on the bridge."
"No, that wasn't me! It was the Green Goblin! He's trying to control me, but you got him! You stopped him! Bless you Peter, you saved me!" Sora just looked at Norman Osborn in confusion, this was the first time Sora ever met a villain that suddenly changed his way from bad to good. It just didn't make sense, was he really possessed but if so, how was just punching him enough to get the Green Goblin out?
"I knew I could count on you Peter; you truly saved me from the darkness. Please believe in me as I believed in you. I've been a father to you after all, please be a son to me now."
"My real father was Ben Parker."
"... Wanna see him again, Spiderman?" Peter felt his spider senses activate and he unconsciously flipped to avoid the incoming glider. However, he was unable to warn Sora who was now right in front of it. Sora saw Peter flip and by pure luck saw the incoming glider, he quickly used his Olympia Keyblade to bash the glider and send the broken pieces flying away. Again, out of luck Sora turned back to the Green Goblin who was seconds away from stabbing him with a hidden blade. Sora only barely managed to block the incoming blade with his keyblade causing the blade to break and force the Green Goblin back to the wall.
"Ugh... you... you can't win... He told me about them! How many have you defeated? 13? Pfft! There are Thousands of Keyblade Wielders of Darkness and Billions of Heartless at their control! He told me you only liberated eight worlds! They've destroyed hundreds!" Suddenly a keyblade of darkness stabbed right through the wall and into the Green Goblin's heart.
"I also told you what would happen if you failed!" Braig turned his keyblade like a lock and suddenly life drained from the Green Goblin. The Green Goblin fell to his knees and looked at Spiderman one last time as Norman Osborn.
"Peter... Don't tell Harry..." Norman Osborn then fell to the ground, he was dead. Sora looked at Normans Osborn in shock, it was bringing back bad memories of when he saw Clayton at Deep Jungle die.
"Heh, everything he did was so artificial. Even his power was made by an experimental chemical. No magic from his heart, not even a single spark. It's pathetic really. Even to the very end, he wasn't even worth turning into a Heartless. No matter, you will make a fine Heartless once I've crushed you into the dirt." Sora's heart was beating incredibly fast out of overwhelming fear, then Sora looked at Braig. This man was a part of the Dark Army, this man just killed someone who was his ally, and now he was mocking him after his death. Sora remembered everything that made him hate the Dark Army. Now without realizing it Sora was emitting a dark aura that resembled dark flames all around him. He looked at Braig with intense anger, Braig for the first time stopped smiling and was now filled with fear. Spiderman was afraid as well, the Sora he knew before was gone and something else was taking his place.
Do you hate him? Do you want revenge? Do you want to destroy everything that makes you angry? THEN DO IT! MAKE THOSE WHO WRONGED YOU SUFFER!
Sora yelled in anger as he dropped his keyblade and charged forward at Briag with his fists flying in fury. Braig tried to block but Sora dodged his keyblade quickly and punched Briag in the waist, then the chest, then the face. Soon Sora was on top of Briag and didn't stop punching him. Sora saw Briag say something, but he couldn't hear him, instead Sora's ears were filled with ringing and the loud beating of his heart. Eventually Braig managed to kick Sora off of him and get his keyblade back, Braig then quickly charged and slashed Sora in the chest. Or at least that would have happened if Sora didn't catch the Keyblade with his bare hands.
"Wha- what?! But how?!" Sora broke the Keyblade with his bare hands and proceeded to stomp toward Briag with overwhelming rage. However, Spiderman's webs started latching onto Sora to keep him back from Briag. Spiderman then jumped in-between Briag and Sora, shooting spider webs at both their legs. Spiderman then got in front of Sora and shook him and spoke though Sora still couldn't hear or was willing to look at him. Sora just wanted to destroy Briag, so he started hitting Spiderman in the face. Spiderman didn't stop trying to reason with Sora, then he took his mask off so that Sora could see his face. Peter just looked at Sora and Sora then stopped hitting him. Sora was finally calming down which allowed him to hear what Sora was saying.
"It won't make it better Sora, killing doesn't bring them back. It doesn't make you feel better, it just makes you empty." The dark aura around Sora started to fade as the overwhelming anger started leaving his heart. His head was no longer ringing but now his body was in pain from going over its limit on anger alone. Sora then collapsed on the ground and started crying, he felt so ashamed of himself for letting the darkness take him over so quickly. Peter then hugged Sora while he was crying, neither of them noticed that Briag managed to break out of his webs.
"True killing gets you very little, but the feeling of holding someone's life in your hand. Whew! There's nothing like it! Let me show you!" A sword of darkness formed in Briag's hand, he quickly raised it up to cut down both Peter and Sora. Peter tried to shield Sora the best he could, but it was too late and Braig swung his sword down. However, not only did Briag miss but he collapsed onto the ground due to being shot full of lighting to the back by Donald who just managed to show up with Goofy.
"Sora!"
"Sora, why does this keep happening?! Why do you keep separating from us?! Are you trying to-"
"Donald! Stop it! Look!" Donald looked where Goofy was pointing and saw Norman's dead body. Donald was no longer red with anger but filled with guilt as he then looked at Sora and saw him crying while Peter was comforting him.
"Oh..." Goofy was the first to walk up to Peter and Sora to see if they were okay. Once Sora saw Goofy, he quickly got up and hugged Goofy while continuing to cry heavily. Goofy then gently hugged Sora back while gently patting his head to further comfort him.
"I- I'm sorry, he saw Norman die and... he's just a kid he shouldn't have to see something like that."
"... By the looks of it you're a kid too."
"Uh, yeah but... I was the only one who could stop the Green Goblin."
"... Sadly, it's the same for Sora and the Dark Army." Peter then looked back at Sora again who was still crying, he then looked back at Norman's body. This was all too much for one person to handle but Peter still had work to do.
"Listen I have to go but I don't want to leave Sora like-"
"No, no, it's fine. I got him, thank you for looking out for Sora when we weren't there by the way."
"It was no trouble; I mean there was trouble but... Ahem! Sora's a good kind and you should be proud of your son." Goofy looked at Peter in confusion but just smiled without correcting Peter about thinking Sora was his son. Peter then tried to walk away but Goofy reached out and placed his hand on Peter's shoulder, making him look back.
"Your father should be proud of you too." Peter looked at Goofy in shock at first but then remembered Uncle Ben and what he said to him. Peter then closed his eyes and smiled as a single tear fell out of his eyes.
"Yeah, he uh- I'd like to think he would be. Thank you." Peter then put on his damaged mask again, gently picked up Norman's body, and used his spiderwebs to swing away. Goofy smiled while watching Peter leave, but once he was out of sight Goofy focused back on Sora to comfort him until he was done crying.
***
The next day, Sora was standing on the roof of a building and looking out at the city, but he wasn't looking with envy or joy anymore. Instead, he remained silent the entire time as the wind blew through his hair. Goofy looked at Sora with sadness while Donald was staring at him with disappointment.
"... That's it, I'm talking to him."
"Donald, give him some time."
"How much more time does he need?"
"That's not for us to decide Donald." Donald just huffed in annoyance.
"Donald, what happened to all the guilt you felt about pushing Sora too hard earlier?"
"That was because he was going too fast! But now he's dragging on! You can see the world's keyhole right there." Donald pointed at the floor of the roof where the keyhole of the world was. Goofy just sighed as he couldn't deny that Donald was right about that.
"Still Donald he just saw someone die... AGAIN! Please be patient." Donald just huffed again and sat in silence with Goofy as they watched Sora. Sora continued staring at the city, then he suddenly took a deep breath and exhaled softly. Afterwards Sora went over to the world's keyhole and used his keyblade to lock it. Goofy quickly stood up to talk to Sora.
"Sora? Are you ok?"
"I'll... I'll be ok."
"Well, if you want to talk then we'll be here for you."
"... Thanks, Goofy." Sora then hugged Goofy again only this time with a smile, again Goofy patted Sora's back and head gently to comfort Sora.
"Hey Sora."
"You sure you're, ok?" Sora then let go of Goofy to see Chip and Dale out of the Gummi ship and looking at him with genuine concern. Sora then smiled softly at the both of them.
"Hey Chip and Dale, yeah I'm ok. I just needed a break is all. But now I'm good, say is this really the last world?"
"Uh yeah, you got all the worlds blocking the Dark Army's base."
"We can now scan for the location of their base fellas, so let's see... oh, It's Hollow Bastion." Goofy and Donald then looked at Chip and Dale with a mixture of shock and realization.
"Hollow Bastion? But how?"
"You guys know that place?"
"It's the world of Radiant Garden, one of the few kingdoms that were aware of the Guardians of Light, the Dark Army, and the Multiverse in general."
"The king and queen there were great allies to King Mickey. But one day we just lost contact with them."
"The worst part is that their time works differently from ours so when the connection broke so did the time. Gosh, for all we know it's only been a few weeks for us, but it could have been years for them."
"Wha- what?! Then we should go right now!" Sora couldn't help but panic, if time really went by faster for them then that must mean that Kairi and Riku were trapped for years, possibly longer.
"Whoa wait hold on Sora, we should at least get more healing potions from Traverse Town."
"Also, don't you want to rest? You haven't slept at all today."
"But if we don't hurry and leave now it might be too late! Besides Donald, aren't you always saying that I waste too much time." Donald opened his mouth but didn't say a word, he couldn't be due to the shock and guilt he felt. Goofy didn't say anything either but that was because he was angry at Donald for what he said to Sora.
"Are you leaving?" Sora then stopped and looked behind to see Spiderman there.
"Spider Man?"
"Hey Sora, I just happened to see you as I was swinging around. And it looks like you have a spaceship... So are you an alien?” Now Sora was silent out of embarrassment, Goofy was silent too out of confusion, and Donald was silent but out of anger.
"Uh... well technically yeah but it's a little-"
"Yes, we're aliens and really that's all you need to know." Donald showed up right beside Sora still looking disappointed but no longer angry.
"Huh, I really should be more freaked out, but given everything that's happened in the past month I'm actually ok with it. But anyways, that's not why I'm here I just wanted to say hi and well I guess bye."
"Sorry, but the sooner we go the sooner we can stop the Dark Army for good. That way this place will stay safe forever.”
"No, no I get it. But hey, just remember you're not invincible right?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, the entire time you were here you kept jumping headfirst into danger. Don't get me wrong, it's courageous of you but it's also pretty reckless and dangerous as well. Just try to remember your limits."
"But what if people can't wait for me to recover? I mean, a hero supposed to be there for everyone right?" Goofy then stepped in.
"Even heroes are people, Sora. Gosh, if heroes had to work 24/7, they'd get exhausted. Then no one would be left to save the day."
"Yeah, that's exactly what I'm trying to say Sora, I mean like you I'm still new to this whole hero thing but I'm pretty sure even then it's not a good idea to just dive into danger all the time. You must be sure to save yourself before saving others.”
"... Yeah, you know what you're right. Thank you, Spiderman."
"My name's Peter Parker."
"What? What about your secret identity?"
"I think I can make an exception for you guys given the circumstances. Anyways I gotta go, but hey if you ever need to come back to my world, then don't forget that as a friend I'll always be ready to help. Catch you later Sora." Spider Man then shot a spiderweb and swung away.
"So uh, Sora. You still wanna go to Hollow Bastion?" Sora looked at Chip and Dale, then to Donald, and finally to Goofy. Sora then smiled at all of them.
"Nah, let's go to Traverse Town. We deserve a little rest before we go stop the Dark Army and save Riku and Kairi." Goofy then smiled and gently placed his hand on Sora's shoulder.
"And we will save them, we just need to be smart and careful about it, Sora."
"Right, so after resting, are you ok with that Donald?" Donald looked at Sora surprised, Sora looked at Donald with a genuine smile, while Goofy behind him was staring at Donald with disappointment.
"Ahhh! Yes! Yes! I'm fine with it! Waste all the time you need, don't let me stop you!" Sora chuckled a little and Goofy nodded in approval while they went to the Gummi ship. Donald just sat there with a look of disappointment, he then grunted in annoyance and ran up to Sora to get his attention.
"Sora, listen... I'm sorry, ok. I'm sorry I rush you and sometimes make you feel like you're not good enough to be the Champion of Light. The truth is that we would have failed in our fight against the Dark Army before the battle could even start if it wasn't for you. You're not just the Champion of Light, you're the champion of hope. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise, Sora."
"Hm, thanks Donald. I know I don't say it often but you're a good friend." Donald then smiled and finally the three of them walked onto the Gummi ship.

Runaway Wind Chapter Forty Five
Tumblr media
<- Previous Chapter | Current Chapter | Next Chapter ->
After Mickey left, it wasn’t too long before they had gotten Riku’s tent set up. Although Sora couldn’t say how many hours passed while the King was gone, time seemed to fly. Mostly on account of telling Xion what all had happened on Sora’s journey. Though Jiminy Cricket popped out to add a few of the details.
But as time went on, the stories ran out. And soon the sun started to dip beyond the horizon and  the clouds began to take the darker hue of night. Sora crossed his arms as it seemed more likely they’d need to wait another night for word from Mickey. “Should we set up a fire?”
Riku shook his head with a sigh, “You heard Donald and Goofy. There’s no wood out here.” All the kindling they could ask for but no fuel for the fire. And without protection from the gathering wind, there wasn’t much that would stop it from being blown out.
Though Sora soon realized that there was a sound growing with the wind. The familiar sound of an engine. “Hold on, is that..?” Sora looked to the sky, and saw the last light of the day illuminate the approaching vehicle.
One that Donald and Goofy were quick to recognize. “The gummiship?”
The question of its pilot was answered easily enough with the distinct silhouette of Mickey’s ears in the cockpit window. The group watched as the ship touched down, the hatch opened, and Mickey quickly hopped out. “Master Yen Sid’s expecting you. I’ve set the autopilot to take you to him.”
Riku furrowed his brow as he saw the king start to take the path leading to Castle Oblivion. “You’re not coming with us?”
Calling his keyblade to his hand, Mickey continued on past the group. “I need to keep an eye on things here in case Maleficent comes back. Or the Organization.”
Kairi crossed her arms as she asked, “What Organization?”
Pausing, Mickey turned back and admitted, “Things are worse than we thought with the people in black robes. They’re a whole Organization, but that’s just scratching the surface of what they are.” He gestured to the gummiship. “Yen Sid can explain it best.”
Nodding, Sora led the way with everyone else fitting in. As the door shut and everyone buckled in, Sora saw the ship take off and head to a glowing light in the sky. As they passed into the portal, he couldn’t help but put words to something that had been gnawing at him more by the day. “We’re going to have to fight them, aren’t we? This Organization.”
Goofy adjusted his collar as he offered, “Well, let’s see what Yen Sid has to say before we start worrying.” However, he couldn’t quite meet Sora’s eyes. Their previous encounters made it clear the Organization was far from amicable.
Grimacing, Sora shook his head as he looked to the stars hurtling by. “Before I went into Castle Oblivion, I thought all we had to do was find Riku and the King but…” His voice trailed off, just as the end of his journey home seemed even further away. Whatever this Organization had planned, there’s no way Sora could just turn a blind eye to it.
“No matter how long it takes,” Kairi answered back as she got up from her seat. “You won’t have to do it alone.”
“Not if we have anything to say about it,” Donald continued as he moved to Sora behind Kairi.
Having joined them all at the pilot’s chair, Goofy put his hand out in front of them, “Yep. All for one, and one for all.” Donald joined in, then Kairi. Soon, Sora put his hand on top of them. It was a phrase Donald and Goofy gave as they started their adventure. Now it felt like it had a bit more meaning.
“Not a bad way to put it.” Glancing over, Sora saw Riku had gotten up. He hadn’t quite made his way over, but even so the hint of a smile was on his face.
Xion however, wasn’t quite as cheerful, looking aside and fidgeting. “I’m sorry. I’d like to help, but I’m not sure what I can do without fighting. But if there’s any way I can lend a hand…”
Sora nodded as he looked back at her. “I’d say that’s all we can ask for.” As soon as he answered Xion, the ship slowed down as it approached a rock adrift. Though as they got closer, Everyone saw a tower standing high on the piece of land.
“This is the place all right,” Goofy confirmed as the ship came to a rest next to the Mysterious Tower. Walking over, the six of them got out of the ship and Sora knocked on the door.
With a turn of the handle, the door opened. And as Sora, Kairi, Riku and Xion saw the animated broom holding it open, They were left speechless for a moment. Sora chuckled and gave a small wave as he passed by. “Er…Thanks.” The familiar waved back as they all began to ascend the tower. Stairs after stairs that seemed to wind up in ways that seemed impossible. But in time they reached the top and opened the door.
In the study filled with books and artifacts with windows overlooking the stars, a desk sat with a wizened man in blue robes with a long gray beard. As everyone approached, Donald and goofy bowed, the former greeting, “Master Yen Sid, it’s an honor.” Kairi and Riku began to follow their lead and gave a small bow…
“Hey there!” “Hi, I’m Xion! This is Sora, Kairi, Riku, Don—”
“Enough! You need to show some respect!” Only for Sora and Xion to not quite follow the same decorum, much to Donald’s frustration.
Yen Sid however, held up a hand with a small smile. “Donald, calm yourself. In the times we find ourselves in, we gain little by standing on ceremony.” The smile soon faded however as he looked over the group. “Mickey told me about you all when he came here. Did he mention anything else to you when he brought you your ship?”
Shaking her head and crossing her arms, Kairi answered, “Just that the people in black robes are part of some organization.”
Nodding, Yen Sid closed his eyes. “Very well, it seems the task of instructing you falls to my shoulders. However, when it comes to the Organization, it is not a matter of who they are, but what.” The wizard waved his hand and looked to the image of a shadow heartless that appeared beside the group. “You know of the heartless, born when one yields their heart to darkness.” Everyone nodded at Yen Sid’s explanation, though Xion’s was a bit less quick.
“At times, if someone with a strong heart and will, be they evil or good, becomes a heartless, the empty shell they leave behind begins to act with a will of its own.” The illusion of a shadow was replaced by a writhing gray creature as Yen Sid continued, “A will that persists even without its heart, that is the nature of a Nobody. With sufficient will, such beings might retain their form and memories.” The strange creature was replaced by a man in a dark cloak. “Such beings make up the Organization.”
Riku rubbed his chin and pondered, “So they don’t have a heart to feel anything?”
With a sigh and a gesture, Yen Sid dismissed the image. “That is what I first surmised when I heard of them, that any such emotions are mere imitation. But the truth seems more complicated.” Folding his hands, he went on, “I have received reports of nobodies acting in strange ways. Acting as if their heart still lingered, or being influenced by the hearts of those around them. I even know of one that even seems to have a very strong conscience.”
Kairi furrowed her brow and asked, “Who are they? Do they work for the organization”
With a wave of his hand, Yen Sid showed the image of a blonde girl in white, blue, and green. “She is Naminé, and she is one of a few that has taken arms against the Organization.”
Yet Kairi was fixed on Naminé’s face.
Her face.
“And she is your nobody, Kairi.”
Kairi slowly covered her mouth, Sora, Donald, and Goofy let out a cry of surprise. Xion looked between the two with fascination. Riku took a step back and shook his head. “Her nobody? But her body didn’t move when her heart was lost.”
Sighing, Yen Sid dismissed Naminé’s image and admitted, “I am not entirely certain, as such beings have never appeared before. But while animation of the body might be one method the will might be manifested, it is possible sufficient power might be enough to splinter off the will itself.”
“That keyblade,” Sora realized with a snap of his fingers. “Back in Hollow Bastion, when I figured out Kairi’s heart was with me, I took a keyblade made with the hearts of the princesses to set her free.”
“That much light in one place,” Yen Sid mused as he stroked his beard. “It is said that all things were given form by the light. So it might be enough to help manifest a body.“
Goofy held up a finger as he pointed out, “Hold on, if anyone with a strong will can have a nobody when they lose their heart, wouldn’t Sora have one too?”
It made sense, and that worried Sora. Kairi’s light had given him a body, one that seemed to work just as well as his original. If there was a nobody out there, one that had Sora’s power, or worse his keyblade, “Do you think they’re with the organization?”
Shaking his head, Yen Sid held up a hand. “The time for conjecture can come later.” Standing up, Yen Sid made his way around his desk. “Though the challenge before you is great, you need not face it alone. There are others fighting in the universe you might ally with. Naminé travels with another keyblade wielder, Ventus.”
Sora couldn’t help but muse as he summoned the keyblade to his hand, “So it’s not just me, Kairi, and Mickey?”
Yen Sid nodded as he continued, “Keyblades have had a long legacy, and that boy is part of a particularly old tale. One that seems entwined with the Organization.” He turned to Sora and put a hand to his shoulder. “However, to explain what happened in detail, you must learn about his friends. Terra, and…”
The door to Yen Sid’s chambers opened, and at the sight of black cloaks Xion yelped and hid behind Kairi. Kairi and Riku called on their weapons at the sight of the four strangers. Though they weren’t sure who the blue haired woman was, the Organization’s uniform meant trouble.
But Donald and Goofy held their weapons with a bit of hesitance, and Yen Sid held Sora back from charging forth. He looked to the old master in confusion before Yen Sid asked…
“Master Aqua? Is that you?”

The portal of light reminds me of the Dark Corridors, which also require protective garb (black coats).
I didn't play through DR, so I don't know how often or by whom the light portals were used though, so I can't say whether or not protective gear wasn't required or just wasn't used.
(Apologies for the longish, rambly response; you are witnessing my brain struggling in real-time here. And feel free to ignore this if you want, your reply just got me thinking.)
Now that you mention the similarity to dark corridors, I do wonder if these light portals...basically function the same way? Like, KHDR (and I think KHUX as well?) show us that dark corridors connect to each other via hallways rather than being instantaneous teleportation (as in, they don’t seem to function like a portal would in, say, the video game Portal), so I guess maybe the light portals have a hallway of their own as well, even if we never get to see it?
‘Cause you mention the black coats and yeah, that reminds me that characters throughout the series will sometimes use the dark corridors without the coats, provided that they spend as little time as possible in those hallways. So maybe these light portals function similarly, where you don’t need to put on armor if you know exactly where you’re going and know that you can get to your destination quickly. Or heck, maybe there’s no danger within them at all? I know the portals appear much more harmless than the dark corridors due to being made of light rather than darkness, but I still assumed that, whatever they are and wherever they lead, they nonetheless weren’t something to be trifled with...hmm.
But then there’s that whole thing where characters will be like “Wow, these dark corridors are so convenient and let you go anywhere, this kind of travel normally isn’t possible otherwise! Giving in to the darkness is super useful, actually!” so idk how these light portals would fit into that lmao. The dark corridors don’t sound as enticing and special anymore if there’s just a harmless light version of them that works just as well, y’know?
But yeah, the only real question left at that point is why you’d choose to wander the dangerous Ocean Between in full keyblade armor riding your keyblade vehicle around if you can just use a light portal hallway to directly travel to a specific world instead. Maybe you only traverse outer space if you don’t know what world you’re aiming for? My only guess.

Continuing to ponder Tip the Scales; been having WAY too much fun with a silly Disney side villain and mishmashing all the stuff I grew up with and my nostalgia.
Merlock and Nimue are a powerhouse of a team; they’re each other’s foil and compliment as Merlock wants power for himself, but even though Nimue has promised to help him obtain Yen Sid’s magic cap, she is still true to her vow as a Keyblade Master in keeping innocents safe - however, she too is keen on learning as much as she can from the embittered warlock, and her fighting skills are as deadly as his magic.
I’ll possibly be including the Oracle from Aladdin and the King of Thieves at one or two points so they can both ask an important question. I also just like drawing Merlock with his hood down and taking creative liberties lmao
But my own personal fun definitely takes root in making Merlock a son of Oberon, because if I can’t include Gargoyles in KH stuff anymore I’ll explode. This definitely won’t be the only Gargoyles element, as The Grimorum and Phoenix Gate will most likely be utilized, and the idea of traveling through misty waters will probably be one way Nimue and Merlock travel as she uses her keyblade similarly to Terra, Aqua and Ven as a vehicle while he shapeshifts and flies.
Also expect Merlock and Merlin being half brothers hijinks

favorite thing about them: where the FUCK do i begin.. ok actually i know i just reblogged a bunch of posts talking about how hes way more than his anger and angst but. ever since i was little those moments always resonated with me in such a satisfying way yknow?? idk seeing the kid get his life stripped away in the kh2 prologue and actually being super pissed about it after everything he went thru, and watching him slowly become disconnected from everyone he cares about for reasons far beyond his control.. it hit home
least favorite thing about them: uhhhhh. idk. i want him to have more screentime tbh i just hope hes not sidelined too hard in future games
