Dark Endeavour AU: Ashes to Ashes

I'm convinced that Ashes to Ashes (episode 2.1) featuring both Shaun Evans and Roger Allam is actually a dark Endeavour AU! There are so many parallels.

First up, we have the cop uniform swagger:

Next, we have Morse P.C. Kevin Hales, who was on the take, but his friend and colleague found out and was going to report him. Hales tries to shut him up by getting compromising pictures, but the setup goes wrong and his friend dies. Hales later shoots the hooker that was part of the setup after telling the police his friend was the one on the take. Interestingly, he seems to go in for a bit of a death-by-cop scenario as he is indeed somewhat guilt-ridden, but gives up. Which leads to a forced breathalyser test, not unfamiliar to Endeavour...

Then some police brutality:

And then it's off to prison!

Where things go badly, except just a little worse for Hales...

And then we have Thursday of course, who in this scenario is the shady Detective Superintendent Charlie Mackintosh, who’s trying to cover up his obvious murder of Hales in prison by having it listed as a suicide – because he’s *gasp* a MASON!!! (Taking over from Strange in this scenario!)

So yeah, fascinating to see Thursday have Endeavour murdered in prison! And what a beautiful little disaster!Cop he made too:

And there you have it! Such an interesting dark AU version of Endeavour! Or maybe just Pylon if it had been set in the 80s.

Can't get enough of the Morsetache, though! I'm very grateful to the 70s for that alone. Morsetache forever!

In my head my otps and ships don't stay the same age they age like us. the ones I've had since I was a smol have grown up and are now fully fledged adults.

Examples

KevEdd- Kevin and DD from Ed, edd n eddy, when the show came out in 1999 they were 12ish, in my head they are now 30ish?

Sterek- in season 1 Stiles was 17 and Derek was 19, my brain now thinks of them as 28 and 30?

Is this just my weird brain?

Knocked Loose: Upon Loss singles (2023)

Nothing, and I mean nothing, was more morbidly horrifying and sorrowful in 2021 that A Tear In The Fabric Of Life, the epic metalcore concept e.p. doubling as a stop-motion animated feature that became a stand-out release for themselves and the genre. They literally pushed their devastation to new limits that they had both their loyal fans and newcomers floored beyond amazement.

So why stop there? Why not keep most of that momentum going without burning out? That’s the flag they’re placing on a (currently) stand-alone single hinting at a new full-length and it’s a two-parter. They’ve returned with an intensity between A Different Shade Of Blue (2019) and their previous outing. The first-half “Deep In The Willow” shows us that Knocked Loose are as unhinged and uncontrollable as they always were; going to war and relentlessly tearing it up complete with tempo changes and beatdowns. Bryon Garris never got over his endless panic mode that never failed to keep nerves in check. Then a rapid drum beat - as soon as it switches itself to “Everything Is Quiet Now” (it’s anything but), Knocked Loose becomes that fired-up tiger focused on gunning down its prey, catching it, slowly devouring it, and going along it’s day like it’s no problem. Guitar riffs wielded by Isaac Hale and Nick Calderon swing around furiously along with Kevin Otten’s basslines going full undertow while Kevin Kaine’s drumming goes right to the jaw. Goes to show they’re not done taking bodies and lives. Not by a longshot.

Carl Craig Will Bring Detroit Love Lineup With Juan Atkins Feat Milan Ariel, Stacey Hotwaxx Hale & Kevin Saunderson's Inner City To Washington D.C.

Carl Craig is taking his Detroit Love DJ set to Washington D.C. for a rare event at The Depot on Saturday, November 19th. Craig will be joined by Detroit's Godmother of House Stacey "Hotwaxx" Hale, Kevin Saunderson's Inner City and Juan Atkins feat. Milan Ariel. Detroit Love is about bringing together and supporting the sounds of Detroit and taking a little of the techno brotherhood to clubs and festivals the world over. Craig says, "Love is what I have for my city, Detroit.”

Craig is one of the founders of The Movement Music Festival in Detroit and has released over 100 electronic music tracks and albums on his influential Planet E label including his Innerzone Orchestra collaboration with Herbie Hancock. Kevin Saunderson's Inner City hit paydirt in the '80s with the anthems "Big Fun" and "Good Life." He also released groundbreaking singles under his many aliases including Tronikhouse, E-Dancers and Reese & Santonio. His son Dantiez Saunderson is now a member of Inner City.

Stacey "Hotwaxx" Hale is the first woman to play house music on Detroit radio. She made a name for herself in the city for her flawless mixing and for winning several DJ competitions. Her legacy continues with current residencies at Spotlite and Marble Bar.

Juan Atkins is known as one of the Belleville Three which is comprised of him, Saunderson and Derrick May for creating Detroit Techno. Atkins is responsible for seminal tracks like "Cosmic Car," "Alleys Of Your Mind" and "Clear" as Cybotron. He will be joined by his daughter Milan Ariel for a live set.

The doors open at 10 PM and the party ends at 5 AM. Tickets are available here. The show is presented by Flash DC and will be one of the last before The Depot warehouse closes on New Year's Day.
