awake until sunrise
here’s my piece for the Kenobi Kafé server exchange I made for @stolen-pen-name23! I went with the prompt ‘caring for someone while they are sick’ and although I only planned to create the illustration, I ended up writing a little fic to go with it too!
By the time he returned, Obi-Wan’s eyes were fully shut, head lolling towards his chest with a pained expression painted across his face. It was a struggle as Anakin forced uncooperating arms into sleeves, fighting against a body that seemed too heavy and tired to lift even itself anymore. Some sort of incoherent thanks could be heard from Obi-Wan as he leaned his forehead towards Anakin’s touch.
Read it on AO3 here!

Hello hello! I wrote a little fic for the platonic trope exchange hosted in the Kenobi Kafé server!
Read Before the Morning Comes on Ao3!
Snippet:
“Master?” Anakin calls again. With a hand on his lightsaber, he steps into the kitchen.
On the ground, surrounded by blood and glass, lies Obi-Wan.
“Master!” Anakin exclaims, rushing down to his side. He ignores the shattered glass all over the floor and instead focuses on checking over Obi-Wan.
“Hey, can you hear me?” Anakin asks, desperately. He taps Obi-Wan’s cheeks lightly, only then noticing the heat radiating off of his skin. “Obi-Wan!”
“Stop hitting me,” Obi-Wan murmurs dazedly.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
lol i am answering this super late but oh well
1. Stars Hide Your Fires
this is the first fic i wrote that i was really proud of, that i went, hey i'm actually a good writer and it has what i think are some of the best lines i've ever written and some really good descriptive imagery
2. Oathbreaking
this is my only fic to break 10k hits and 1k kudos, which i really wasn't expecting when i posted it because it was honestly one of my more self-indulgent stories. also i had so much fun using dai bendu
3. Amaranthine
the concept for this one put me in a chokehold and wouldn't let go, immortal-wan has such good whump potential. im actually posting the sequel very soon
4. See My Dreams All Die
i can't not put this one on the list. it's my longest and plottiest fic by a long shot and i loved writing it. it was one of the first things i wrote when i joined the kenobi kafé and having everyone cheer me on was amazing
5. Need a Friend
hard to choose this last one, but i think i'll go with the one i wrote for kckenobi for the obi gen exchange. it was my first ever fic exchange and it was such a good prompt and i think i did very well writing the various povs

Hey so I noticed your posts about angstpril2022. Is there a Chaos Company discord/do you know how one could get an invite? Thanks!
Hi Anon!
So there is a Chaos Company discord server; however, that server has been private for just about a year now. We're not inviting new members because a lot of the members (myself included) have shared personal information about themselves and we would like to protect everyone's privacy by keeping the server closed.
That being said, I would be happy to recommend some other servers to join, if you'd like? Kenobi Kafé is one that immediately comes to mind, if you're an Obi-Wan fan! There's also some other Obi-Wan servers, a Jedi Appreciation one, and some general Star Wars ones too!
I've also been lowkey toying with the idea of creating my own server but. depends on if people are interested? I also have no idea what the server would be about LOL
Anyways, hope this helps, Anon! If you need an invite to any of the servers I mentioned above outside of Chaos Company, let me know!

grief is its own beast
[NOTE: this fic is in an AU created by the Kenobi Kafé Discord in which Obi-Wan receives Boga the varactyl as a service animal following the horrors of Melida/Daan.]
The first thing Anakin notices when the Jedi ship touches down in Theed and the cargo ramp lowers is not the wizened green being clutching a cane, nor the dark-skinned Human man standing next to them, but instead the massive green and blue crested lizard creature that is just behind them. It is visibly restless, shaking its long-necked head back and forth and tamping its feet. Trills fill the air as it calls out its distress.
Beside him, Obi-Wan makes a quiet pained noise, and Anakin looks over to him quickly.
Obi-Wan has… not been doing well, he doesn’t think. Master Qui-Gon died a few days ago, the same day that Anakin blew up that ship and killed all those droids. When Anakin managed to land, he expected it to be the biggest day of celebration ever, and it was, a bit, but one look at Obi-Wan’s tear-stained face as he carried Master Qui-Gon’s body had quickly made the smile slip off his face. Obi-Wan made sure Anakin was okay and set up with one of the nice handmaidens, Sabé, then disappeared for a while.
Anakin asked Sabé where he’d gone, and Sabé had gone all quiet and said that Obi-Wan was sitting in vigil with Master Qui-Gon’s body until they could hold a proper Jedi funeral.
“Is he okay in there?” Anakin had asked. “Can we ask him if he needs food or anything?”
“We can leave food out here for him,” said Sabé. “But a vigil is a very private thing, and we should not disturb him. We barely know Master Jinn, it would be disrespectful to assume a place at the same level of Padawan Kenobi.”
Anakin isn’t sure. He feels like he did know Master Qui-Gon – that was who took him from Tatooine and to that big city planet and told him he was going to be a Jedi. But maybe Sabé has a point. If his mom had died and Kitster or someone had tried to say they were just as sad as him, he would be a little annoyed, he supposes.
So Anakin has dutifully kept away, occupying his time in other ways, like getting flying lessons from the real life pilots. But then Sabé told him the other Jedi coming for Master Qui-Gon’s funeral would be arriving soon, so he went to the hanger with Queen Amidala (who was maybe Padmé?) and Sabé and, to his surprise, Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan was waiting there in the same bloodstained robes he’d been in the last time Anakin had seen him. His face was pale and his eyes were rimmed with red, but his spine was straight as he bowed to the group.
“Your Majesty,” Obi-Wan said, voice slightly raspy. “My apologies for my inattentiveness these past few days.”
“No apologies necessary, Padawan Kenobi,” Padmé responded in that Queen voice they all used sometimes. “We grieve with you.”
Obi-Wan bowed his head again at that, but before he could say any more the sounds of thrusters broke through the atmosphere and everyone turned to watch as the Jedi ship came to land. It was much bigger than he was expecting – Sabé had told him there were only a few people coming, he’d thought, but maybe Jedi were super rich and could afford a big ship.
Then the cargo ramp had opened and Anakin realized why the ship needed to be so big.
The creature makes another trill and then pushes past the two people in front of it to come bounding over in their direction on the landing pad. Anakin’s eyes go wide as it races towards them, limbs going in all directions as it picks up speed, crying into the air as it goes. He almost ducks behind a nearby canister – runaway animals were not uncommon on Tatooine, and could be dangerous – but something keeps him planted still. The others with him, the more politician-y types, they get a lot more scared, Anakin can tell, but the Queen holds firm so they must as well.
But the creature comes to a screeching halt right in front of them – right in front of Obi-Wan, whose face seems to crumple a bit.
“Boga,” he chokes out, and then his hands are buried in its crests and his face is tucked into the side of its neck. The creature trills again, a lower-pitched cry of mourning, and cuddles closer to the man who is clutching it like it is his lifeline.

"head empty only service animal Boga" - @calika (october 7, 2021)
Since the day the mental image of Boga in a service animal vest was contrived by our frequent keeper of the braincell, @calika, a fun little conversation about Obi-Wan having a service varactyl for his PTSD on the kenobi kafé discord server turned into an extensive google doc, its own channel, many fics, some art, and as of recently-- an official tag on AO3!
In honor of the collective efforts of Kafé members and other amazing ao3 writers that have adapted the AU, I've compiled a little fic masterlist/rec list of all the Service Animal Boga fics! All of the works in this AU are amazing and wonderful and definitely check them all out!
You can find them all below the cut, or you can check out the AO3 collection and collaborative series!
~ ~ ~
Boga Service Animal AU- The Masterlist
Inseparable by @calika ~ Obi-Wan is torn from Boga’s side, his grip on her feathers failing as his captors drag him away and he screams, feeling like it’s his heart they’ve torn from him instead. [Obi-Wan and Boga are captured on the warfront] Rated T | 2.3k words
love like a roar by @catboydogma ~ “I don’t—I, uh. I don’t know what a varactyl is, Master,” Obi-Wan said, cradling the egg gingerly. “Find out soon, you will!” Yoda cackled, rapping the end of his gimer stick against Qui-Gon’s kitchen tile. If it were any other master, Qui-Gon might have protested giving the egg of a live creature to his very young, very tired padawan. But it was Yoda, and Yoda did what he liked. Qui-Gon supposed there had to be some advantages to being shin-high and over 500 years. Rated G | 1.4k words
Angel of Music by @calika ~ He finds her curled up in Qui-Gon’s favourite blanket on the couch, head stretched to the sky and swaying as she happily creates the most joyful sonic torture to ever exist. [Boga sings her heart out at every opportunity.] Rated G | 2.5k words
grief is its own beast by @calltomuster ~ The creature comes to a screeching halt right in front of them – right in front of Obi-Wan, whose face seems to crumple a bit. “Boga,” he chokes out, and then his hands are buried in its crests and his face is tucked into the side of its neck. The creature trills again, a lower-pitched cry of mourning, and cuddles closer to the man who is clutching it like it is his lifeline. [Or: in the wake of Qui-Gon's death on Naboo, Obi-Wan's service animal Boga provides some much-needed comfort.] Rated T | 2.5k words
I'll Love You Forever (Let Me Be Your Shelter) by @swranger ~ The training simulations on Kamino had never included a 60-foot feathered lizard. Cody had to admit the veractyl was endearing, though, in her own way. The creature—Boga—did a considerable job of being in the background, despite her large size. Cody knew how much she helped his General, so he couldn’t help but be grateful to her. Normally, she was vigilant, perceptive, and calm. She certainly wasn’t calm at the moment. It was the first time that Cody found himself wishing the veractyl were a little less perceptive. General Kenobi hadn’t come back from the latest mission. Rated T | 2.3k words
Not everything feels like something else by @artherra ~ Qui-Gon voices the: “Oh!” for him. The lizard that stands at her feet; roughly tall enough for its head to be level with Obi-Wan’s chest; turns its head to them as soon as they enter and fixes its stare straight at him, those yellow, burning, intelligent eyes cutting through his soul. The crown of purple-blue-jade feathers on the back of its head lifts as it considers him like an equal, like a challenger, and he straightens without thinking. A sort of harness wraps around its body along with a vest; it says on the side, SERVICE ANIMAL IN TRAINING, and DO NOT DISTRACT, black font on bright orange. “Obi-Wan,” the lady tries to get his attention but he’s too busy having a staring contest with the animal that reminds him so closely, so terribly of some half-forgotten idea of home. “I want you to meet Boga.” One by one, we each stay alive. Rated T | 9.9k words | warnings: graphic depictions of violence, see author note for TW
war is a looming specter by @calltomuster ~ “Hey,” Anakin said softly, kneeling down. “Are you alright, Master?” Obi-Wan raised his head and revealed his pale, blotchy face and red-rimmed eyes. “I – I can’t – I can’t do it again, I can’t–” At his side, Boga let out a soft trill and raised her head to swipe her tongue down the side of Obi-Wan’s face. [Or: in the shadow of the first battle of Geonosis, Anakin learns the Jedi are going to war. His first thought is of Obi-Wan.] Rated T | 2.1k words
Trials and Tribulations (I've had my share) by @silveryinkystar ~ "It's not like I'm not attached, either," Obi-Wan said. "To Skywalker?" Obi-Wan shook his head. “No, I – I meant Boga. I’m so scared of losing her. You saw what my last mission did to my state of mind. I’ve never been this afraid of losing anyone before, not even Qui-Gon. I am attached to her, and I don’t know if that’s–” Boga, sensing his distress, rolled over slightly, and Obi-Wan broke off into a wheeze. Obi-Wan, upon returning from a harrowing mission during the war, gets a visit from Yoda and discuss a few things that were weighing on his mind. Rated G | 2.1k words
I'll help you carry on by @hellowkatey ~ "I've done lots of research, Master. Varactyls are very smart and loyal. Plus, I've always been good at connecting with animals through the Force." "Indeed you have," the Jedi Master says with a tinge of defeat. "Though I worry about taking on the responsibility of training Boga on top of your padawan studies. You already have much to catch up on." [or, 5 glimpses into Obi-Wan training Boga to be his service animal, and 1 time that training pays off] Rated G | 7.5k words
Just out of Reach by @coalmine301 ~ “Boga,” Anakin said, voice oddly heavy. She ignored the tone in favor of wagging her tail in greeting. That was her name! “Boga, you-” Ani swallowed dryly “-you don’t have to protect him anymore.” What was he talking about? Of course she would always protect her little friend. Partially because that was her job, but also because he was her little friend. Her Obi. Her partner. A man who needed her help more often than not these days. Not Rated | 1.7k words | warnings: graphic depictions of violence
every possible way by @catboydogma ~ “Oh, hello there,” Obi-Wan said, turning and raising an arm. Boga had her little paws hooked into his tunics, beak open wide and tail lashing behind her. “What are you doing here, darling?” Boga opened her beak even wider, somehow, and screeched at him. He’d never heard her so loud or so shrill. The rush of the fountains and streams in the Room filled the air between them. OR: 5 times Boga screamed to be silly + 1 time Boga screamed to be serious Rated G | 3.2k words
Search and Rescue by @silveryinkystar ~ It was awfully silent in the gardens. Cody gripped his hat tightly in his arms, wondering why it had struck him so suddenly. The gardens in the Jedi Temple, after all, weren’t particularly loud – this section was especially quiet compared to other, more frequented areas – and nothing appeared to be amiss. Appeared was the key word. Something was off. [Maul kidnaps Boga in order to bait Obi-Wan into a trap for revenge. This is the story of her rescue.] Rated T | 6.5k words
well and far behind by @catboydogma~ It will be easy, the Senate had said. Just yourself and perhaps a few others, they’d said. Quick in and out, they had told him. Well, this was most definitely not a “quick in and out” sort of mission. Rated T | 1.7k words
healing takes its own path by @calltomuster ~ Obi-Wan looked back down at Boga. He stretched out his hand a bit, and this time Boga was the one who leaned forward into his touch. He began scratching dutifully, clearly understanding the implicit instruction, and immediately the low rumbling began again. A slow, small smile crept across his face. “G-good girl, Boga,” Obi-Wan whispered, so softly that it could barely be heard. [Or: three scenes in the early life of Obi-Wan and Boga's partnership.] Rated T | 3.9k words
Drifting in The Foam by OldManBen ~ War changes the very fabric of the soul. It is a moral wound, one that even the most skilled healers and poets cannot mend. There is no victory, not when there are orphans and widows. When Obi-Wan returns from the Melidaan conflict, the Jedi come together to help him find his way again. Rated T | 6.1k words
Everything Will be Fine by MiaSertnev ~ Boga has always been there since Melida/Daan. Obi-Wan cannot imagine life without her while she would make any sacrifice to protect her Master. Rated T | 5.4k words
Feathers, facades, and other fashions of the coruscant elite by @calika ~ Forwarded from Galactic Republic Senate Administration Office: High General Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are invited to attend the 3rd Peace Gala to benefit the republic planets most impacted by the war.
Reply to Galactic Republic Senate Administration Office: I am honoured to accept the invitation on the condition my service animal may accompany me. May the force be with you. Rated G | 4.9k words
Head in the Sand by @swranger ~ Then the sweet sound of a gunship directly overhead filtered through the dust. Whoops and fresh cheers from the troops made Obi-wan’s knees weak again. “Reinforcements! The reinforcements have arrived!” There were already clones running past them. Obi-wan turned off his lightsaber. The plasma melted away, and so did Obi-wan’s strength. He and Boga sank to the ground together. Rated T | 5.5k words | warnings: graphic depictions of violence
easy now / now alone by @catboydogma ~ There was nothing else in the world that felt like Boga. Her scales were smooth but not slick, pebbled but not raised. Her beak was always warm, somehow, despite the fact that it was bone and keratin. Her tongue laved over the inside of his wrist and then she nudged forward, thumping the side of her head against his chest. His arm automatically went around her neck and she set a leg delicately over his lap. The warm weight of it felt real like nothing else. Rated T | 3.0k words | warnings: graphic depictions of violence
our teeth to break by @catboydogma ~ Obi-Wan woke to a raging headache, searing pain in his shoulders, and a dull throbbing at the back of his skull. He was strung up by his wrists, Force-suppressing cuffs digging into the soft insides of his arms, feet barely brushing the cold durasteel floor under him. He noticed, with a sinking feeling, a circular drain set in the middle of the floor just under his toes. Rated M | 3.3k words | warnings: graphic depictions of violence
A Boy and His Varactyl by @stolen-pen-name23 ~ As he lays there, crumpled on the ground, panting and unable to move, Obi-Wan realizes something. “Boga, you have to go find Master Qui-Gon,” he says. The words are painful to utter, but he utters them anyway. Boga squawks at him, indignation bright in her intelligent eyes. OR: Obi-Wan is lost and injured in the woods. Boga helps him. Rated G | 2.6k words
Da Capo al Coda by @pandora15 ~ Obi-Wan Kenobi has a number of constants that he can rely on: his family, his job, and his service dog, Boga. But when things suddenly start to unravel, he is forced to face — and consider — the possibility of losing everything. After all, it is better to be alone than to be the cause of pain for the ones you love the most. Rated G | ongoing
a love that won't sit still by @catboydogma ~ Obi-Wan sang to Boga when he fed her. Qui-Gon had no idea why or when this had started. It just was. Obi-Wan crooned nonsensical melodies to Boga when he brushed through her crest and checked her toe pads, he sang snatches of Qui-Gon’s rowdiest drinking songs when he fed her, and when she curled up on his chest to sleep he hummed a sleepy three-note song of satisfaction before dropping off to sleep. Rated G | 1.8k words
The Guns in My Head by OldManBen ~ Following the deception arc, Obi-Wan and friends deal with the emotional fall out. In which Obi-Wan and Anakin finally talk, Obi-Wan admits a hard truth, and Boga offers Obi-Wan comfort.
Not Rated | ongoing
numbness spreading across your chest like frost by @calltomuster ~It was stupid, Obi-Wan knew it was stupid, but he hadn’t been able to help clinging to the thought during the war that once it was over, everything would be better.
But now the war was over, and Obi-Wan felt worse than he had in a long, long time. Rated M | 8.1k | warnings: see tags and AN for trigger warnings
instead I took care of you by @calltomuster ~ When Obi-Wan opened his eyes again, he was on the ground and he couldn’t remember how he got there.
[Or: many decades after the successful ending of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan is still struggling, in ways both old and new.] Rated T | 2.0k
dogfish by @catboydogma ~ This was a beautiful planet. The name escaped him at the moment, but it had three moons and a single young blue sun. The atmosphere was a stunning deep cobalt in the evenings as the sun set and the first moon rose, but in the day—as it was now—the sky was a delicate shade of lavender. It was almost entirely rock and natural springs, with volatile volcanoes at each pole. Not two yards from Obi-Wan, a waterfall of glass-green water fountained down a rocky cliff to the riverbed. The rock here was every shade imaginable, though it tended to settle in deep violets and indigos. All it meant now was that Obi-Wan was covered in violet rock dust and his blood turned the rock beneath him almost black. Rated T | 1.6k
guardian angel by @coalmine301 ~ The varactyl knew Obi-wan was in this base somewhere, no doubt being hurt by these strange, mean men. It was only a matter of finding him… and hurting whoever dared lay a hand on him, of course. Not Rated | 1.7k let this cup pass from me by RogerRogerThat ~ The Force calls upon its beloved disciple, Obi-Wan Kenobi, guardian of the Light to prevent the destruction of the Jedi Order and the Galaxy. The only problem is Obi-Wan can't remember what happened, and he isn't sure if he'll ever be the same. Rated T | ongoing
Boga and the Human Called Anakin by @stolen-pen-name23 ~ Boga is distrustful of the human called Anakin, but due to his relationship with her Master, she is forced to get along with him. Now that her Master is missing and presumed dead, Boga has to trust Anakin and work with him if there’s any hope of saving Obi-Wan. Rated G | 1.9k
Walking Nightmare by RogerRogerThat ~ Obi-Wan has a flashback of Rattatak in the Temple and his friends help him to find his way back home again. Thankfully, Obi-Wan Kenobi has his faithful Boga Woga and friends to remind him he is safe. Rated T | 2k

I'll try to keep this list updated as more Boga Service Animal fics come about!
If you are a writer interested in writing for this AU, the collection is open for anyone to participate! There are details in the FAQ and rules about guidelines for writing within the AU, but the abridged requirements are just to include Boga as a service animal in some way.
AO3 tag: Service Animal Boga (Star Wars)

Rating: Gen
Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boga (Star Wars), Yoda (Star Wars)
Summary:
"It's not like I'm not attached, either," Obi-Wan said.
About the AU: This fic is inspired by the “Service Varactyl Boga” AU (links to the collection, series, and AU tag on Ao3) as devised by @calika [Ao3] and brought into effect by the Kenobi Kafé Discord server! Quick disclaimer that I’m not a part of the server myself, but really, really liked the au and thought it was perfect to explore Jedi philosophy in!

9, 17, 28 for the writing ask game!
9. How do you find new fic to read?
So I go into the Obi-Wan Kenobi character tag, right. And back when I first started, I had to go through the entire thing, all 20k fics or whatever, scrolling until I found something that looked interesting and reading it and then continuing on. Took me like ten months to get through all of them. And then I set the filter to show me just the fics that had been posted since I started reading ten months earlier, and went through that, and when I reached the end of that, I reset the filter, and went through the fics posted since however many months that took, and on and on.
Is it weird and a little bit inefficient? Maybe, but it means I don't miss the interesting fics that maybe aren't tagged effectively, or aren't as popular despite their quality or whatever.
Right now my filter is set for last September, so I'm a bit behind, because I haven't been reading much fic but that's okay.
-
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
Okay, okay. I started this series called The Will of the Force (hate the name now, want to change it), which is basically what if Obi-Wan was born 32 years later than he was in canon, Qui-Gon becomes 'Old Ben (Kai)' on Tatooine, and they manage to find each other and still become Master and Apprentice. It was meant to span from ten years after the purge to through The Return of the Jedi, and I got really excited about it, posted the first chapter and... immediately lost all motivation to work on it so it sits there staring at me from my 'don't want to abandon it' wips pile.
I would honestly much rather read something like this than write it, but I've never seen anyone with a similar idea so I just sit here and suffer.
-
28. Does anyone read your fics before you post them? If so, who?
Sort of? My kafé besties read almost all my fics in little snippets while I'm working on them, but never really in its entirety. I don't really have a beta or anything, I do my own editing.

kenobi kafé new year's exchange fic roundup
thanks to all the participants in our first server exchange and to @calltomuster for being an amazing co-admin (and power-hungry tyrant<3), per usual.
39 FRESH FICS HAVE GRACED THE OBI-WAN AO3 TAG SO GO CHECK ALL OF THEM OUT!!!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
here are my contributions:
and with stranger aeons ~ 5.8k. By all literal definitions of the word, Obi-Wan is blind. Kamino's stormy topside and the depth of his plummet into the ocean have blocked out most light this deep. Were these seas he knew anything about, he might not be so stressed. But somewhere in the murky waters, keen eyes zero in on his location. A chill spikes up his spine. Obi-Wan isn’t alone. [or, Obi-Wan isn't able to catch himself from falling off the flight platform in his fight with Jango and learns the truth about Kamino's mysterious existence]
- - -
after the war ~ 1.9k. Cody doesn't know how to process it at all. All these years— his entire life has been devoted to training and preparing and now... All around him, brothers remove their buckets in similar disbelief. There are no words exchanged between them, only this shared hesitancy that settles in a thick fog over them. The war is over.
- - -
one call away ~ 2.3k. “Good morning, Ahsoka,” Obi-Wan says with an unavoidable crack in his voice. “I am afraid I need to ask a favor of you.”
- - -
here & now ~ 3.4k. Owen and Beru Lars are not home. There are no life forms in the general radius of his homestead, actually. Obi-Wan finds himself more relieved than he should be. He looks down at Luke still sleeping softly and smiles. "The Force has overruled me, young one." [or, Obi-Wan and Luke go into hiding on Alderaan instead of Tatooine]
- - -
hand over hand ~ 3.3k. There is a piece of crumpled flimsy in his pocket with a list: 1. My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi 2. The man who found me’s name is Qui-Gon Jinn 3. I am a Jedi Padawan 4. My memory was erased by the Syndicat 5. I am safe. The last is more of a reminder whenever his heart starts beating too fast for one who is sitting still. - - -
The Count's Gambit ~ 2.5k. "Sit," Dooku says, extending his hand to gesture toward the opposite seat.
"I don't understand." Dooku has gone through the trouble of capturing and containing him. Give it a few more hours and the Count very well may have the brunt of the GAR. All this effort and he wants to play a game of chess?
- - -
long nights and longer mornings ~ 1.9k. Obi-Wan has a bit too much to drink, and Qui-Gon is there to take care of him (and poke a little fun at him, of course)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
and special shoutouts to the incredible fics that I was gifted in this exchange--
but it is youth who much fight and die (by fangirlfromtartarus) is an AMAZING time travel au of Anakin and Ahsoka meeting Padawan Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon right after the events of Melida/Daan. Read it. Read it right now.
going away to come home (by @calltomuster) ANOTHER time travel au (i have a type obviously adshks) where Obi-Wan is yote back 15 years and meets Xanatos. This one has me SCREAMING
fight the tide (by @catboydogma) hurt Obi-Wan trying (and failing) to hide his injury. protective Cody. what more can you want?

Kenobi Kafé New Years Exchange Fic Roundup
Many many thanks to everyone (especially my wonderful and talented co-admin @hellowkatey) for a successful first exchange for the Kenobi Kafé server!!
CLICK HERE FOR ALL THE FICS IN THE COLLECTION!
Here are the ones I wrote:
instead i took care of you (2.0k, Service Animal Boga AU) When Obi-Wan opened his eyes again, he was on the ground and he couldn’t remember how he got there.
[Or: many decades after the successful ending of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan is still struggling, in ways both old and new.]
-----
going away to come home (4.0k, time travel) The nightmares, when they came, were not a surprise.
When he woke, shaking and sweating, it was not a surprise either.
Then an elbow slammed into his side, right in his broken ribs, and shoved him off onto the ground.
[Or: immediately post-Melida/Daan, Obi-Wan travels back in time to when Xanatos was Qui-Gon's Padawan. Unexpectedly, some much needed healing begins.]
-----
numbness spreading across your chest like frost (8.1k, Service Animal Boga AU) It was stupid, Obi-Wan knew it was stupid, but he hadn’t been able to help clinging to the thought during the war that once it was over, everything would be better.
But now the war was over, and Obi-Wan felt worse than he had in a long, long time.
-----
home does not feel like it once did today (but tomorrow is a new day) (4.7k, post-Mandalore) “Obi-Wan, is there anything else I or any of the other Healers can do for you?”
He did not say none of your scans and tests revealed the real problem: that Mandalore was the greatest Trial I could imagine. That it feels like I tore my heart in two and only returned with half. That walking the halls of the Temple does not feel like home in the same way it once did. That I feel like a stranger now amongst friends.
Instead, he looked her right in the eyes. “No thank you, Master Vokara Che.”
[Or: the day after returning back to the Temple from a year-long mission on Mandalore, Obi-Wan works through what home means now.]

Longform Fics (15k+ words)
The Plights of Force Visions- 18.0k. Obi-Wan Kenobi has many infamous force abilities. He is most notorious for his connection with animals, though his silver tongue and acrobatic leaps are close behind. Lesser known are his visions, frequent and pungent. These are the tales of a lifetime of seeing too much.
This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi- 15k. While on a mission checking out an abandoned Jedi Temple, Padawan Obi-Wan happens across a piece of the future with an ominous message.
Memories Time Nor Sith Can Erase- 51.8k. Obi-Wan Kenobi wakes up on an unknown planet with no memory of how he got there or... really anything about his life. Anakin and Ahsoka have to follow the trail that has long gone cold to find the Jedi Master before whatever made him drop off the face of the galaxy gets to him first.
Saving Grace- 24.2k. There's a lot riding on this mission. It's the Bad Batch's first mission reunited with Crosshair, the first time Tech has allowed Omega to pilot the ship on her own, and the life of an important informant for the rebellion is at stake. But when their important mission is sabotaged by a mysterious operative, the team discovers they weren't the first defective clones to come out of Nala Se's lab... and it may change the future of their squad forever.
What are Men to Rocks and Mountains?- 72.3k. Satine Kryze is Mandalore's duchess-to-be, but after numerous assassination attempts, she realizes she needs help to stay alive long enough to claim her throne... of course, the only ones that can help her are Obi-Wan Kenobi-- who she vowed to despise for all of eternity-- and Master Qui-Gon Jinn. (Pride and Prejudice fusion)
Tribulations- 68.6k. After the death of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan isn't able to fulfill his master's dying words to train Anakin. The Force leads him down a darker path and he is surprised by what he finds.
Adjustments for Life and Personality (and How it Hurts) ~ 301k. After the destruction of Kamino, the Bad Batch return for Crosshair. What they find changes the dynamic of their family forever. (adapted RP with helo572, lapis01, m00nie, pamikarita, and wwheeljack)
Gen Works (non-shipping)
Obi-Wan
Six Final Breaths - 2.8k. Obi-Wan has let go of a lot in his life. These are the 5 times he has heard the plea to let the ones he loves go, and the one time he get to say it.
Eyes Wide Shut- 2.3k. Obi-Wan deals with the torturous effects of a very long time without sleep.
Crash at Point Rain- 1.8k. At the Second Battle of Geonosis, Obi-Wan's gunship is shot down while trying to land at their rendevous point.
A Long Way Down- 2.1k. It is widely known that Obi-Wan Kenobi hates going to the healers, but many do not know that his dislike of medical procedures is actually rooted in a particular experience from his youngling days.
Business and Pleasure- 1.5k. Ventress has taken Obi-Wan hostage, and he must find the motivation to endure the merciless torture.
Varactyls, not Krayt Dragons- 5.3k. What happens after Obi-Wan boards the medical transport off Geonosis.
things get worse ~ 591 words. The war on Melida/Daan weighs heavy on Obi-Wan as the death toll rises in a horrifying way.
the problem with hope ~ 2.3k. After Mustafar and Padmé's death, Bail makes sure Obi-Wan is taking care of himself.
I'll help you carry on ~ 7.5k. 5 glimpses into Obi-Wan training Boga to be his service animal, and 1 time that training pays off. (Boga Service Animal AU)
what if's and what if not's ~ 2.5k. Mace Windu finds out how Obi-Wan has really been dealing with Qui-Gon's death
somebody catch my breath ~ 12.3k. after being rescued from Kadavo, Obi-Wan's injuries are extensive
and with stranger aeons ~ 5.8k. Obi-Wan isn’t able to catch himself from falling off the flight platform in his fight with Jango and learns the truth about Kamino’s mysterious existence
here & now ~ 3.4k. Owen and Beru Lars are not home. There are no life forms in the general radius of his homestead, actually. Obi-Wan finds himself more relieved than he should be. He looks down at Luke still sleeping softly and smiles. “The Force has overruled me, young one.” [or, Obi-Wan and Luke go into hiding on Alderaan instead of Tatooine]
i've seen that road before ~ 13.5k. There was that feeling again. Obi-Wan clutched his head, his eyes screwed shut against a blinding light. Untangle the threads, Padawan. Something whispered in the back of his mind, something that spoke of a darker path… [Or, four trips that went wrong for Obi-Wan, and one that finally went right.] (collab with calltomuster, pandora151, and the_last_kenobi)

Only a Moment Later- 1.4k. Anakin and Obi-Wan chase a spy.
When I Fall Apart- 2.0k. It's been a week since being rescued from Kadavo, and Obi-Wan is convinced he is fine. Anakin, on the other hand, knows his former master better than that.
We Rise and We Fall and We Break- 2.8k. Obi-Wan is searching for meaning in the Force during his time on Tatooine and finds clarity from old faces.

Care, Trust, and the Force (of course)- 1.7k. Anakin takes a tumble during a battle that brings about a lot of old fears.
The Further I Fall- 2.7k. A simple recon mission on Hoth turns into the discovery of a chilling operation.
Coming Down from it All- 2.5k. Obi-Wan and Anakin locate their target in a suspicious location and decide to spring the possible trap anyway.
A Toast to Diplomatic Dangers- 2.0k. It's difficult to enjoy a nice dinner when everyone at the table is hell-bent on killing you. Obi-Wan and Anakin find this out the hard way.
A Magnet for Trouble- 3.9k. Anakin gets too close to a Sith artifact, and Obi-Wan must figure out how to get his padawan back.
Just Resting My Eyes- 1.2k. During a war, sleep is few and far between sometimes. Especially for stubborn Jedi who think meditation is a substitute for a REM cycle.
I Need an Adultier Adult- 2.6k. Obi-Wan is newly knighted and facing some issues adjusting to having a padawan. Anakin isn't exactly making the transition easy on his new master.
Four Walls and Two Jedi- 10.0k. Obi-Wan and Anakin get exposed to a deadly virus and must spend two weeks in quarantine battling sickness, ghosts from the past, and worries for the future.
Drunken General Kenobi: A Field Observation - 4.5k. After a long time of being deployed, the gang decides to go out for drinks on their first night on leave. Obi-Wan has a little too much to drink and chaos ensues.
Safe ~ 1.3k. He keys in the door code, still the same as when he was a padawan. Obi-Wan's front door slips open and Anakin walks leisurely inside. Something is definitely wrong. Anakin's first clue is the cloak abandoned in the center of the floor. His second clue is the pang of warning that cuts through the Force a moment too late.
it's too late ~ 632 words. Obi-Wan makes it back from Utapau while Anakin is still attacking the Jedi Temple.
Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon
One Last Lesson- 1.6k. Qui-Gon tries to reach out to Obi-Wan from beyond the living. It doesn't go as expected.
i am one acquainted with the night ~ 3.3k. Obi-Wan tries to connect with a wild animal, and it goes very wrong.
coming up only to show you're wrong~ 2.8k. Obi-Wan made a choice. As did he. For a year, Qui-Gon waited for the boy to change his mind, and for a year he only heard radio silence. Until now. A message in the night originating from a Temple code. His heart had admittedly soared from that short message alone.
Jedi assistance urgently requested on Melida/Daan.
hand over hand ~ 3.3k. There is a piece of crumpled flimsy in his pocket with a list: 1. My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi 2. The man who found me’s name is Qui-Gon Jinn 3. I am a Jedi Padawan 4. My memory was erased by the Syndicat 5. I am safe. The last is more of a reminder whenever his heart starts beating too fast for one who is sitting still.
long nights and longer mornings ~ 1.9k. Obi-Wan has a bit too much to drink, and Qui-Gon is there to take care of him (and poke a little fun at him, of course)
a game with no winner ~ 3.8k. The Force spikes. A warning. A familiar presence approaching from the shadows. Obi-Wan swiftly turns while drawing his saber in the same moment. When the blue blade extends, it illuminates a face that Obi-Wan never thought he’d see again.
“Xanatos?”
what is necessary (for love and war) ~ 7.8k. Obi-Wan didn’t come back with him. Once again, he is without a Padawan.
The moment cool durasteel meets his fingertips, the overwhelming presence of Obi-Wan slams into him so hard the room begins to spin. Qui-Gon sinks to the floor, saber clutched in both hands and pressed tight against his chest as though it’s actually Obi-Wan he’s hugging.
"You have to go back."
[or, after leaving Obi-Wan on Melida/Daan, Qui-Gon wakes up in the middle of a different war]
Rex & Ahsoka
Shattered… (from a Certain Point of View)- 1.9k. Order 66 is called, and Rex has to fight against his programming.
Obi-Wan & Ahsoka

one call away ~ 2.3k. “Good morning, Ahsoka,” Obi-Wan says with an unavoidable crack in his voice. “I am afraid I need to ask a favor of you.”
Cody and Obi-Wan
When Darkness Wins- 1.6k. Cody wakes up with a horrible headache, no memory of how he obtained his injury, and the mysterious absence of his general.
The Ground is my Halt- 1.8k. Obi-Wan is injured, and Cody feels responsible. An old foe makes an expected resurgence.
a weapon of a more civilized age ~ 3.9k. Cody and Obi-Wan are taken hostage, and Cody has to find his own way out.
after the war ~ 1.9k. Cody doesn’t know how to process it at all. All these years— his entire life has been devoted to training and preparing and now… All around him, brothers remove their buckets in similar disbelief. There are no words exchanged between them, only this shared hesitancy that settles in a thick fog over them. The war is over.
Disaster Lineage
J'adoube- 7.7k. There are only two scenarios that make sense in this moment: 1. The Force has caused a divergence in the flow of time for reasons still unknown. or 2. Obi-Wan has a more active imagination than he thought, and the last twenty-eight years of his life have been one very long, very elaborate dream.
Unfinished Business- 1.3k. Qui-Gon lives after the duel at Naboo, but the Force isn’t happy about it. Fate had already predetermined this was to be his final hours, and now he lives on borrowed time.
Good Sleep is Hard to Find- 3.7k. The Disaster Lineage™ has a long history of being horrible at getting the sleep they need.
Bones in the Drift- 2.8k. After a battle with heavy casualties, Ahsoka observes how the clones mourn their fallen brothers.
Campfire Tales- 3.7k. Stranded after a particularly rough mission, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Rex pass around a bottle of Corellian whisky and learn shocking stories of Kenobi's past.
A Rather Dangerous Game of Catch- 369. Spending nearly a week in hyperspace with nothing to do is a recipe for boredom... and everyone knows Anakin and Ahsoka don't do well with sitting still.
How to Train Your Droid- 2.9k. A bored and mischievous Anakin Skywalker is a recipe for something to go awry. After all, reprograming Artoo's language core is a great idea for a prank... but it turns out, Artoo has a lot to say.
Ghosts of the Past 8.6k. An unexpected visitor shows up on the ship, and Cody learns a shocking fact about his general's past.
The Count’s Gambit ~ 2.5k. “Sit,” Dooku says, extending his hand to gesture toward the opposite seat. “I don’t understand.” Dooku has gone through the trouble of capturing and containing him. Give it a few more hours and the Count very well may have the brunt of the GAR. All this effort and he wants to play a game of chess?
Obi-Wan & Quinlan Vos
I'll be on your side when the dreams run dry- 8.5k. Quinlan returns to the Jedi Temple to find a newly-knighted Obi-Wan exhausted and overwhelmed. To give his friend a break, he padawan-sits Anakin for the day, and of course, they find some chaos to cause.
Clones (see additional masterlists for TBB fics)
Welcome to War, Shiny~ 2.9k. It's Kix's first day out of medic training and things go wrong pretty quick
it's hard to be the one that survives ~ ongoing. Kix works to save Cody's life after being crushed beneath the crashed gunship, and Rex fears losing another brother.
Arms of a Brother ~ 1.4k. Umbara's most devastating moment through Kix's eyes
OT Trio
These Were Once the Good Ol’ Days- 854. Leia goes through old holovids.
* * *

The Breaking of a Heart- 3.5k. Obi-Wan is on Mandalore to help Satine, but Maul prevails and takes his revenge. Anakin feels a disturbance in the Force.
