Tamiyo, I heard you helped my classmate with their paper on the Eldrazi! I have a paper on Nicol Bolas and could use another primary source for my research, especially with Kasmina being one of the people who will review it! I hope this letter finds you well and any help you can give would be appreciated!
Mm, naturally. I was of course present during the War of the Spark, where my observation of the dragon’s ravages spawned a powerful cautionary tale I use for restraint, if nothing else. You will find a short summary in my package.
Kasmina is... different. A fellow scholar, but paranoid and distrustful. She spends all her time plotting and planning for an apocalypse to come, though she refused to share with me what it was. Whatever it is, I stand ready to defend my family from it, with or without her help.

Look over Kasmina's page on the mtg wiki, about the part group she is associated with of mysterious planeswalkers.
Mayhaps, her group has been getting ready for the current arc in the lore and story?
Oh yeah, I've heard! Sounds likely, especially as Arcavios is rich with history lore and they'd certainly know how dangerous Phyrexia is.

my favorite part of Strixhaven's story is when the cult leader goads a mentally broken unstable man who had nearly starved to death/died of thirst a few days ago into attacking a college campus lmao
also how Rowan just leaves for Strixhaven and Will is forced to follow. I feel like it is not used for comedy nearly enough that they can drag each other through planes bc they're not strong enough to resist it if one chooses to leave ksjdksjkdsj
also, uh. Lukka might have just been preparing to lay down to die at one point??? he comments on having not eaten recently and not having had water in 3 days, rescues Mila from being pinned under rocks, tells her to go, and then just passes out. When he wakes up, he's super grateful for the food she's left him, and only then does he bond with her and seem to have some fire to do anything more than look for food in Arcavios ksjskjdksjds
Seriously when this man arrived in Arcavious, he went to an inn for food, and they assumed he was Oriq bc of his starnge clothes and unwillingness to tell them where he came from (KIND OF A SORE SUBJECT, also they wouldn't know!). This culminated in them throwing spells at him! unprovoked.
I'm kinda glad he had dogs and horses maul them tbf, he was NOT looking for a fight and they decided "oh strange clothes. ORIQ. No food for you"

Hello Mark! Today is my birthday, and as such i shall invoke the ancient and sacred rite of birthday trivia! Do you have any intresting facts about my favourite tribe/ real life animal snakes? Or failing that some obscure information about my favourite planeswalker Kasmina?
For a while, we were thinking of Kasmina playing a Merlin-like role in Eldraine, but ended up choosing to go a different direction with her.
Happy Birthday!

Can you direct us to the lore that there IS about kasmina and the fomori? I’ve tried to look into kasminas whole deal but it’s hard to find a centralized place where her lore is compiled
There's nothing connecting the two.
Kasmina has virtually nothing in terms of background lore, I think the bit about her preparing for something worse than War of the Spark comes from The Art of Magic: the Gathering - War of the Spark. That's pretty much the whole thing. It's all on her wiki, there's not, like, more deep lore elsewhere.
Any Fomori lore comes from either Fifteen Commanders, Fifteen Tales or The Planes of Planechase. And now, of course, the new Planeswalker's Guide for LCI.

Going Up - Elevator Pitch Winners
An uplifting round of applause for our winners this week: @bergdg, @bread-into-toast, and @izzet-always-r-versus-u!
Marchesa, Queen of Paliano - @bergdg
The other mods were quite enamored with this one, and as a fan of venturing into the dungeon, I can definitely see why. Plans, conceptually, are very good as a sort of more linear execution on the aforementioned dungeons. Your sample plan, Maintain Order, I think does things mostly right, namely starting off with a low-board-impact ability, so that your opponent doesn't have to worry quite so much about the exact contents of every scheme you could possibly go on. That said, I do wish it was at least a step longer to complete, if only to tone down Marchesa's last ability, which feels potentially very overwhelming given that the tokens it can make can themselves generate more tokens. I also do kind of wish that abandoning the plan was perhaps more of a discreet step? Just so that switching gears is just a smidge more difficult, and maybe give players some scaling payoff for when they complete or leave whatever plan they were on, so that seeing things through closer to the end is more heavily incentivised, but I think that's more me exploring this cool space you've created than an actual criticism of how you've done things. At the end of the day the plan mechanic is clever and endearing and that's a hard combination to not speak highly of.
Quintorius, Digsite Delver - @bread-into-toast
Planeswalkers are the sorts of things that are generally both difficult to design and difficult to evaluate, so it's a bite rare that they find themselves this high on the podium. That said, we're here, so let's talk about why, starting with the two words that make this card an eligible contestant. Backup planeswalker feels so natural you'd think they'd've already done it, and the particular loyalty abilities you've chosen to grant this card simultaneously feel very appropriate for the character, while still being generally useful on just about anyone else. That said, I am not without concerns. Getting to abruptly generate four loyalty counters and a 3/2 blocker certainly seems safe on the Elephant in the room, but I am a little worried about how well it might play alongside planeswalkers with somewhat more dramatic loyalty abilities. Strixhaven Kasmina certainly never broke anything, and this is two more mana than that, but generating blockers on a positive loyalty ability has historically led to very strong planeswalkers, so I do feel some concern is warranted. All that said, I don't think I'd really change anything about what this guy is doing, aside from maybe dropping the +2's to +1s, just to be safe. Lovely execution regardless.
Awaken from Slumber - @izzet-always-r-versus-u
Straight to the point: Pray is an inspired attempt at fixing conspire. I love how, by removing the payoff inherent to the ability, by adjusting the ceiling, you've made it so that the floor can kind of rise to meet it. Three mana to dredge back two creatures from your graveyard is far from a bad rate, and getting to turn that into an actual full reanimation spell is just delightful. This also just feels like a very clever design to show off this mechanic on, as the off-mode very cleanly gives you precisely enough creatures to allow you to pray for something else. Certainly not flashiest thing submitted this week but I have full faith that this will play quite well and honestly that's worth a lot in my opinion.
