Beyond the hollow was the square top of the mountain and soon they were standing on it.
They had guessed before that this was an island: clambering among the pink rocks, with the sea on either side, and the crystal heights of air, they had known by some instinct that the sea lay on every side. But there seemed something more fitting in leaving the last word till they stood on the top, and could see a circular horizon of water.
Ralph turned to the others.
"This belongs to us."
It was roughly boat-shaped: humped near this end with behind them the jumbled descent to the shore. On either side rocks, cliffs, treetops and a steep slope: forward there, the length of the boat, a tamer descent, tree-clad, with hints of pink: and then the jungly flat of the island, dense green, but drawn at the end to a pink tail. There, where the island petered out in water, was another island; a rock, almost detached, standing like a fort, facing them across the green with one bold, pink bastion.
The boys surveyed all this, then looked out to sea. They were high up and the afternoon had advanced; the view was not robbed of sharpness by mirage.
"That's a reef. A coral reef. I've seen pictures like that."
The reef enclosed more than one side of the island, lying perhaps a mile out and parallel to what they now thought of as their beach. The coral was scribbled in the sea as though a giant had bent down to reproduce the shape of the island in a flowing chalk line but tired before he had finished. Inside was peacock water, rocks and weeds showing as in an aquarium; outside was the dark blue of the sea. The tide was running so that long streaks of foam tailed away from the reef and for a moment they felt that the boat was moving steadily astern.
Jack pointed down.
"That's where we landed."
Beyond falls and cliffs there was a gash visible in the trees; there were the splintered trunks and then the drag, leaving only a fringe of palm between the scar and the sea. There, too, jutting into the lagoon, was the platform, with insect-like figures moving near it.
Ralph sketched a twining line from the bald spot on which they stood down a slope, a gully, through flowers, round and down to the rock where the scar started.
"That's the quickest way back."
Eyes shining, mouths open, triumphant, they savored the right of domination. They were lifted up: were friends.
"There's no village smoke, and no boats," said Ralph wisely. "We'll make sure later; but I think it's uninhabited."
"We'll get food," cried Jack. "Hunt. Catch things. until they fetch us."
Simon looked at them both, saying nothing but nodding till his black hair flopped backwards and forwards: his face was glowing.
Ralph looked down the other way where there was no reef.
"Steeper," said Jack.
Ralph made a cupping gesture.
"That bit of forest down there . . . the mountain holds it up."
Every point of the mountain held up trees--flowers and trees. Now the forest stirred, roared, flailed. The nearer acres of rock flowers fluttered and for half a minute the breeze blew cool on their faces.
Ralph spread his arms.
"All ours."
They laughed and tumbled and shouted on the mountain.
"I'm hungry."
When Simon mentioned his hunger the others became aware of theirs.
"Come on," said Ralph. "We've found out what we wanted to know."
They scrambled down a rock slope, dropped among flowers and made their way under the trees. Here they paused and examined the bushes round them curiously.

New Zealand’s Largest City Grapples With Aftermath of Devastating Floods
Tumblr media
At least two people were killed in the flooding in Auckland that forced hundreds of people from their homes and shut down the city’s airport, which was submerged.
A child asleep on a couch floating in the water. Two thousand passengers trapped in a flooded airport. Hundreds of people evacuated from their homes.
The morning after the worst downpour since record-keeping began for Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, residents were grappling with the scale of the damage after flash flooding swept through on Friday night.
Late Saturday morning, Chris Hipkins, New Zealand’s new prime minister, flew over the city in the cockpit of a military plane from Wellington, the capital, to assess the damage from the air. An earlier departure had been delayed by bad weather.
Two people have been found dead, the police said, and at least two others have been reported missing. The emergency services responded to more than 700 weather-related incidents, the authorities said, amid a record number of more than 2,000 calls in less than 24 hours. The city received almost 240 millimeters of rain — almost 10 inches — of rainfall in just a few hours, according to the MetService, the country’s national weather service.
Just before 10 p.m. on Friday night, Wayne Brown, Auckland’s mayor, announced a local state of emergency after urging from other officials, allowing the local emergency services to draw on additional resources to help cope with the situation.
“This is going to be a horrible night for thousands of Aucklanders and their families,” Mr. Brown said at a news conference. “My thoughts are with those Aucklanders affected, including many of those who have been evacuated from their homes and have a hard night ahead.”
Mr. Brown, who has been criticized for the lateness of the emergency declaration, said that his role was not “to rush out with buckets,” and he disputed whether other New Zealand cities would have coped as well with a comparable disaster.

Auckland, a city of 1.7 million people, sprawls across dozens of volcanoes and three harbors, with many people living close to beaches or on the edge of its jungly native wilderness. The city’s vertiginous streets had left people in low-lying areas especially vulnerable as the water swept through, resulting in power outages, burst water pipes and displacement of people from damaged and inundated homes.
Overnight, the emergency services had helped to clear roads submerged by the rain.
“This streets are still wet and covered in silt, but they’re mostly passable,” said Richard Hills, a city councilor. “In some areas, the debris is sitting very high on fences and power poles. It’s sort of unbelievable.”
Early on Friday evening, as the rain began to intensify, members of the Muriwai Volunteer Lifeguard Service were asked by the emergency services to be on standby.
Hours later, volunteers in an inflatable boat wended their way through the floodwaters in pitch-darkness as they attempted to reach people caught in flooded homes. At one house in Helensville, lifeguards climbed through a window to rescue a family of five, who were trapped indoors in water that came up to their chest.
“There was a 3-year-old boy blissfully asleep on a floating couch,” said Glenn Gowthorpe, a member of the squad. After being gently picked up by a lifeguard, the child briefly opened his eyes and then went back to sleep, he added.
“The lifeguards got him out the window, out into the inflatable rescue boat,” he said. “It actually looked like a disaster movie set. There was power lines hanging down almost in the water, trees everywhere. What was once a tiny little creek was quite a big river.”

Fast-moving water, which quickly rose from being a couple of feet deep to submerging whole basements, carried planks of wood and branches and scattered them throughout the city.
“I don’t think anyone’s ever seen anything like it — no one kind of realized how swift that water is,” said Mandy Crawford, an osteopath in Auckland. “Some people have gone out and to try and help, and they’ve just been taken away by it.”
Ms. Crawford, 45, said one of her friends had been hit by floating debris and hospitalized. “He’s got injuries down to the bone,” she said. “It’s almost like a tsunami — all the debris that’s in the water, it’s just done some pretty major damage to people’s vulnerable bodies.”
Assessing the damage done to her clinic, she said on Saturday morning that it was unlikely to be salvaged, because of the contaminated water, and would have to be rebuilt.
“I’m a bit numb, in shock,” she said.
The flooding followed three very difficult years for the city, when pandemic closures and disruptions had led to long stretches where she was unable to earn.
“It’s no one’s fault, but we are continually taking that hit,” Ms. Crawford said. “What the hell else can life throw at us?”
Landslides forced some people to leave their homes or left them facing major repairs in the weeks and months to come.
“There was really intense rain, so intense you could barely see out the window,” said Cathy O’Sullivan, 42, whose home backs onto a reserve leading to Little Shoal Bay, on the city’s North Shore. “I went downstairs and just saw that some of the land was slipping away.”

She put together a go-bag of socks, clothes, supplies and wine, as well as food for her two dogs, and spent a sleepless night waiting for updates from her partner, who was trapped in a lounge at Auckland Airport, where he had planned to board a flight to Canada.
“They were told to stay where they were until they knew what was happening,” Ms. O’Sullivan said. “It was pretty hard getting out of the airport, because there were thousands of people who wanted to leave and they were only letting through a few taxis at a time because of the floodwater.”
The airport, the country’s largest, closed overnight after the terminal was flooded. In images shared on social media, travelers could be seen trying to push suitcases and baggage trolleys through water that came up to their knees. Dozens of flights have been canceled and rescheduled, and the airport has temporarily suspended international departures.
Despite the damage, the flooding has not left Aucklanders entirely dispirited. Stopping at a gas station on Saturday morning, there was a clear sense of solidarity among fellow customers, Ms. O’Sullivan said.
“Everyone was super chatty, just making sure everyone was OK, showing each other photos of flooding in their houses and just checking in on each other and making sure they had a place to stay if they needed one,” she said. “It was quite human and quite nice to see.”

Riding Jungleboy’s thigh head canon?

It happened by surprise, to be honest.
But when you think about it; it shouldn't have.
The man is kinky.
So, when your sitting in the hotel room, hanging out with Marko and Lucha, sitting on his leg and he starts rolling your hips you barely contain your shock
'Good girls ride daddies thigh, and keep quiet'
He keeps his hands around you, discreetly grinding you against his thigh as he talks to the boys.
How Lucha and Marko don't realize is beyond you. Or at least, if they do they don't say anything.
It takes everything you have not to say anything or make any noise only because you know if you do, he won't let you cum
The fabric of your panties rubs against his bare thigh and drives you insane.
He can feel how wet you are and can only smirk as he holds a whole ass conversation.
When he knows your close he'll lean forward again, hands holding your hips still as he growls gently into your ear
'We'll finish this at home, kitten.'

Today we remember the passing of Ari Up who Died: October 20, 2010 in Los Angeles, California
Ariane Daniela Forster, known by her stage name Ari Up, was a German vocalist best known as a member of the English post-punk band The Slits. Ari was born in Munich, West Germany. Both her parents were involved in the music industry: Her father, Frank Forster, was a German schlager singer who had some success in the 50s and 60s while her mother Nora was a friend of Jimi Hendrix and dated Chris Spedding for three years. Ari's maternal grandfather was the wealthy German newspaper proprietor Franz Karl Maier, owner of Der Tagesspiegel. Her godfathers were Austrian singer/composer Udo Jürgens and Jon Anderson, the singer of the group Yes.
Nora Forster later married the Sex Pistols' lead singer, John Lydon, in 1979. Their home was known to be something of a punk domain, where Nora would take in poor musicians. The constant presence of punk music led to Ari experimenting with it herself, learning to play the guitar from The Clash's Joe Strummer.
In 1976, at the age of 14, Up formed The Slits with drummer Palmolive. Within a short time, guitarist Viv Albertine joined the group and found herself deeply impressed by the young singer. "English was her second language," Albertine noted in an interview. "It was not easy for her and she had to fight to be taken seriously." She succeeded: "Ari was the most dynamic woman I have ever known," said Albertine. "The way she carried herself was a revolution."
By the late 1970s, The Slits were touring as the opening act for The Clash. Ari Up's love of reggae led The Slits into a "jungly" dub style. She was the most flamboyant member of the group, becoming known for her wild hair and odd stage outfits. She can be seen briefly in film Rude Boy, associating with the Clash backstage. Her 1977 performances with The Slits are featured in The Punk Rock Movie, a documentary release of various punk group club performances, principally at The Roxy.
After The Slits disbanded in 1981, Up moved with her boyfriend, Glenmore "Junior" Williams, and twin sons, Pablo and Pedro, to jungle regions of Indonesia and Belize and lived among indigenous people in those areas. Later, they moved to Jamaica, eventually settling in Kingston. She continued to make music, first with the New Age Steppers, then as a solo artist, using the stage names Baby Ari, Madussa, and Ari Up. Her son Wilton was born in 1994, though tragically, the boy's father had been shot dead by the time he was born. In 2000, John Lydon and Nora Forster became legal guardians of Up's twin boys.
Up's first full-length solo album, Dread More Dan Dead, was released in 2005. She appeared on Lee "Scratch" Perry's Repentance (2008), and performed a duet on a cover version of Mike Hugg's song "Mister, You're a Better Man Than I" on Mark Stewart's Edit.
In 2008, Ari Up was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, she refused the physician-recommended chemotherapy. Lydon later commented, "who refuses chemo because they don’t want their Rasta locks cut off? Ariane Forster was just…not sensible. She thought she could cure herself with witch doctors. We spent hundreds of thousands trying to save her, but it was too late." Despite the diagnosis, she performed in July 2009, with Perry and Austrian dub band Dubblestandart in Brooklyn, New York, just before the Central Park SummerStage festival. One of her last recordings took place in May 2010, in New York with Perry. The sessions were recorded by the Subatomic Sound System and released in August 2010 on 7" vinyl, titled "Hello, Hell is Very Low" b/w "Bed Athletes." The Slits' final work, the video for the song "Lazy Slam" from Trapped Animal, was released posthumously in accordance with Ari's wishes.
On 20 October 2010, Ari Up died in Los Angeles, aged 48 after battling breast cancer. Her death was initially announced on Lydon's homepage. At this time, Lydon and Nora Forster also became guardians of Up's third child, Wilton.
A tribute Punky Reggae Birthday Party was held at the Music Hall of Williamsburg by Dunia Best, Aram Sinnreich, and Vivien Goldman on Brooklyn on 16 January 2011. Neneh Cherry, Tessa Pollitt, Hollie Cook and other former members of The Slits performed, along with members of the True Warriors, New Age Steppers, and other friends and associates.

Ralph shaded his eyes and followed the jagged outline of the crags up toward the mountain. This part of the beach was nearer the mountain than any other that they had seen.
"We'll try climbing the mountain from here," he said. "I should think this is the easiest way. There's less of that jungly stuff; and more pink rock. Come on."
The three boys began to scramble up. Some unknown force had wrenched and shattered these cubes so that they lay askew, often piled diminishingly on each other. The most usual feature of the rock was a pink cliff surmounted by a skewed block; and that again surmounted, and that again, till the pinkness became a stack of balanced rock projecting through the looped fantasy of the forest creepers. Where the pink cliffs rose out of the ground there were often narrow tracks winding upwards. They could edge along them, deep in the plant world, their faces to the rock.
"What made this track?"
Jack paused, wiping the sweat from his face. Ralph stood by him, breathless.
"Men?"
Jack shook his head.
"Animals."
Ralph peered into the darkness under the trees. The forest minutely vibrated.
"Come on."
The difficulty was not the steep ascent round the shoulders of rock, but the occasional plunges through the undergrowth to get to the next path. Here the roots and stems of creepers were in such tangles that the boys had to thread through them like pliant needles. Their only guide, apart from the brown ground and occasional flashes of light through the foliage, was the tendency of slope: whether this hole, laced as it was with the cables of creeper, stood higher than that.
Somehow, they moved up.
Immured in these tangles, at perhaps their most difficult moment, Ralph turned with shining eyes to the others.
"Wacco."
"Wizard."
"Smashing."
The cause of their pleasure was not obvious. All three were hot, dirty and exhausted. Ralph was badly scratched. The creepers were as thick as their thighs and left little but tunnels for further penetration. Ralph shouted experimentally and they listened to the muted echoes.
"This is real exploring," said Jack. "I bet nobody's been here before."
"We ought to draw a map," said Ralph, "only we haven't any paper."
"We could make scratches on bark," said Simon, "and rub black stuff in."
Again came the solemn communion of shining eyes in the gloom.
"Wacco."
"Wizard."
There was no place for standing on one's head. This time Ralph expressed the intensity of his emotion by pretending to knock Simon down; and soon they were a happy, heaving pile in the under-dusk.

In Thailand on the tropical island of Phuket, I climbed well along the paths on the hills covered with green jungles. #thailand #phuket #island #samsung #novatour #asia #survival #jungli #face #perspiring #tired #nofilter #photo #blessed #crazy #smile #bigglasses #boy #man
