Imagine Loki decides to visit Australia and sees a schoolkid being bullied by their classmates while trying to avoid a large flock of magpies (it being Swooping Season). Unwilling to merely stand by, Loki turns himself into a magpie and leads the rest of the birds in relentlessly swooping on the bullies

I have a feeling that they might not be able to see each other for awhile in season 3.😢💔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope it's sooner rather than later @rougeside4 It sounds like the season is probably 6 episodes so I bet it's within the first one. I sort of think it's a version of 1.01 but turned around a bit. Only they can stop Armageddon but they're "not talking", right? That's like a backwards 2008 and the first episode. Maybe another first bit of episode reintroducing us to them and where they're at and then reuniting them midway through it? @jotun-philosopher made me realize how much I want them to meet up again at the bench so I'm hoping for that. How do you all want them to reunite again?

Please Read Before Interacting! (RULES)
I’m a multimuse account. I play mostly OCs, plus a few canons.
This is a blog for people who are 18+. I write NSFW (smut, violence, alcohol) content on occasion. I’m 23.
Feel free to send me asks even if we aren’t mutuals! Sending questions is a great way to interact before we become mutuals and/or start writing together.
All of my muses have multiple character forms, usually one per verse. Look in their headcanon tag (linked on the muses page).
I no longer tag smut.
Please trim your posts. If not, I might still write with you, just not follow. Long, uncut posts can give me anxiety.
I try to reply within a few days, but please give me a week or so before checking on replies via IMs. I try to match my partner’s length and format, so sometimes I’m just thinking of what to write.
I don’t follow blogs with a lot of political/current events stuff, because I come here to de-stress & have fun.
I frequently use "hon", "bruh", and/or "guy" to refer to people (singular or plural) in a gender-neutral way. LMK if those bother you at all.
If you don’t respond for 2+ months (including updates), I will unfollow. This doesn’t mean I won’t be open to interacting again. If we've been writing for a while & you need a break, just LMK & we can do something else when you're ready.
Please tag images you post that deal with AI/robots or horror/eldritch themes! I have a very active imagination, & just seeing these things easily leads to nightmares. If you don’t tag those, I can’t follow you (but we can still write/plot).
Here's a list of FCs I love to see!
Here's a link that leads to all of my D&D muses specifically!

If it hasn't been done already, I'd love to read a fic tackling "what if Loki was in Age Of Ultron?"
Hear me out:
Starts out like your typical Loki-lives-in-Avengers-tower-as-punishment type of fic. Loki works towards being redeemed, eventually becoming an Avenger, etc etc.
All the while, Loki is joining the group on their raids for the scepter, each visit a reminder of the terrors of that day: what Thanos did to him, what he in turn did to others, and the damage that's being done in the aftermath.
Finding the scepter and realizing it was used to experiment on people and suddenly Loki realizes that he cares about what happens to Midgardians he doesn't even know.
Tony wanting to use the scepter to make Ultron, but hang on? We just stole it back from people who were using it for their own experiments and you want to do the same? I may be new to this whole hero business, but that seems awfully hypocritical to me
Maybe there's some frostiron tension in that scene who knows
During the scene where Wanda puts all the Avengers in their worst fears, she actually gets to Loki, and suddenly he's living out all his worst moments. Learning he's jotun, the battle of New York, every time he's lashed out as his brother, all moments pointing to the idea that he's a monster who's undeserving of forgiveness. That the other avengers may have done bad things, but they can grow from it, while he's got evil written in his very dna. Suddenly he feels like he's hanging from the bifrost again, just wanting to let go and rid of the world of the darkness coursing through his veins.
But then here comes Clint to guide him back to the Quinjet, and both the god and the archer lock eyes, and Loki let's out the tiniest "I'm sorry." Clint just nods back but from then on they have a kind of understanding.
(and maybe they become good friends later on)
Ultron trying to get Loki on his side since he comes from the mind stone and has therefore been in Loki's head.
"You once said that humanity was made to be ruled, that they crave subjugation. They have been made impure by their weakness. As a benevolent god king, you could be the first to set them free from it"
We all know that Ultron has a weird obsession with the religious parallels and it would just increase with talking to a literal god I mean c'mon
Loki meeting Clint's family
"one Barton is enough. Now you're telling me there's a third mini Barton on the way?"
For all his complaining though, he's actually scared of being around the kids. He already hurt Clint. He doesn't want to hurt his family, too.
But just as he's about to sneak away, using "I should see what my brother is up to" as an excuse, Laura sits down with him and helps him see how far he's come. And now as he glances at the kids, and sees the new life growing in Laura's body, he's once again reminded of what he's fighting for. And maybe he begins to believe that he can start over, defy what people may expect of him, and just be who he wants to be.
Watching Vision wield Mjolnir and all Loki can think is "another one? 😔"
But Vision and Loki actually get along because Vision, having momentarily been a part of Ultron, understands the motives and understands the darkness, and that makes his choice to be good all the more impactful.
(I'm not saying that Thor's goodness is surface level, but he is very flashy about it, and like Tony says, "I don't trust a guy without a dark side")
Loki and Vision definitely have philosophical discussions on their down time
At the end, Loki helping evacuate civilians and feeling like he's actually doing something good for a change.
Magic wielding alongside Wanda (the most powerful magic users periodt)
Fighting side by side with Thor, even if it means there's a chance he might get vaporized with the city when it comes time.
Maybe this whole thing is a Loki x Reader fic? Maybe it's not.

Long Loki rant incoming
Ok first things first I've always liked Loki a lot as a character but I don't consider myself a really really big fan mainly because I haven't read the comics. So all this rant is gonna be only about mcu loki and loki in the mcu has been written differently depending on the movie so yeah. And on that note let's go!!!!
So today I'm gonna talk about what I liked and what I didn't like about the Loki show. This is obviously just my opinion, you can disagree with me! I'd love to hear your opinions!
First I wanna talk about is the writing of Loki's character. So previously it has been established in the mcu that Loki doesn't do bad things just because he's a bad guy or because he wants power above everything else, but because after all the manipulation and lying he went through as a child, the abuse, always been seen as less than those around him and being taught to hate himself for who he was (a Jotun). He wants validation and being treated the same as the others, he doesn't really care about ruling or being king. His actions are a result of his trauma. So the show painting him as "He's a bad guy!! He's evil he can't help it it's in his nature!! He just wants to be king!!!" felt off to me since it completely goes against all the previous canon. Apart from that, I feel the show also erased other aspects of him that had always been essential to his character, such as him being very smart and always having a plan, and his powers (he BARELY used his powers throughout the season and he's supposed to be the best sorcerer in the nine realms. Please). So yeah there's that. I didn't absolutely despise his character in the show or anything like that, he generally seemed more happy and chill and that was good, I just felt some aspects of the character seemed inconsistent.
Apart from Loki, something I loved about the show were all the new characters that we were introduced to. Sylvie was absolutely fantastic, she had a well written tragic backstory, she had a goal and she had layers. She was a really well written character. Also she was just really cool overall, she had a cool personality and seeing her use her powers was very fun. (Sylvie your hand in marriage) (I guess I can talk about the "betrayal" now. So yeah not gonna lie I don't think it was that bad. She had a goal she had been pursuing her whole life and she obviously prioritized that before a guy who she met a few days ago. She did hurt him of course but still it's easy to understand her decision.) Mobius was also really cool, in the first episode I didn't like him much but I started liking him a lot later on. He's just a good guy, he wants to help people. (HE ONLY WANTED A JETSKI MARVEL). And I liked his story a lot, he was forced into working for the tva because his memories were erased and he was told what he was doing the right thing when killing all those people, but once he finds out all of it was false he immediately starts going against it and trying to help as many people as he can. Ravonna was also a good character (I keep saying all of them are good characters lol they're well written ok). Like okay she was a little bit evil but I liked her. I really liked her ambition and her confidence. I would have loved to know more about her life at the tva, because it seemed like because of her position she knew some things that most didn't. Hunter B15 was also really good, loved her character development. Casey only appeared in the first two eps but for some reason I liked him a lot idk why. Casey my beloved. Kang was mind-blowing good, he absolutely carried the episode. He was so fun to watch and a very interesting character. This is how you do villains Marvel. And then all the Loki variants were amazing. Classic Loki was great, he was more mature and wiser than the Loki we're used to watching and I felt really sad about his whole situation (aka trying and failing to find his brother because he missed him, getting pruned and then dying). Kid loki was a BLAST, I really liked the little funky dude and I would love to know more about his life. Boastful Loki didn't appear for long but I liked him a lot, he looked like a really funny guy I wish he had had more screen time. And then there was the Lokigator which was also great. President Loki was also cool (meaning he had the coolest outfit), but we didn't see much of him. I think that's a big problem with the show, because they made it seem like it was gonna be more about the other Loki variants and their timelines (that's what it seemed to me from the trailers) but then we barely got that. Sad shit.
Now let's talk about the writing of the show in general. The writers definitely went off with the philosophical conversations, I enjoyed them greatly (Loki's and Mobius' talk in the second ep and Loki's and Sylvie's talk in the third ep were amazing). Something I didn't like at all about the show (this is probably my biggest complaint) is that the writing of the show throughout the episodes didn't seem consistent, like each episode seemed to be a different genre, and that made the whole story feel weird. What I'm trying to say is: the first episode was about Loki learning more about his life and reflecting on why he does the things he does. There was more to the episode but it was mainly that. It was a very emotional episode. The second episode looked like a cop show, they investigated a crime scene in the beginning, they did some detectiving, they had a great breakthrough and found out were the villain was hiding in the end. The third episode was an action episode. It gave me the vibes of mid season episode that isn't too relevant to the plot in which the characters go on some short mission. The fourth episode I can't exactly categorize it I think it was kinda like episode 1 but with some more action. The fifth episode was also a mix, they had a lot of reflecting on Loki's character like in the first episode and then also some action. And the last episode was mostly just exposition and a tiny bit of action at the end, very philosophical and stuff. It also felt like in the first two episodes they were indicating that the show was gonna be about free will and good and evil but that kind of disappeared for a big part of the show. I'm trying so hard to explain myself well, I hope what I say makes sense. Now my opinion on the episodes, my favourites were definitely ep 1, 3 and 5 (haha odd numbers go brrrr). The pilot was absolutely amazing, and I loved the direction the show seemed to be taking (YES MARVEL explore his trauma mmmm that's some good shit right there). It was really emotional but like in a good way. The third episode was great. I think it balanced really well the action and the dialogue, seeing Loki and Sylvie going on their shenanigans, using their powers and fighting was really fun, and then the train talk scene was absolutely amazing (bi loki yay! Gonna talk about this later). The fifth episode was great mostly because seeing all the other Loki variants and how they contrasted between each other was fantastic and I loved it. I really hope we see more of the variants in the next season. The other eps, the second and fourth were okay, the one I think was the worst one was the last one. Damn that episode. It was a very slow episode. Thank god the guy who plays Kang was really good because otherwise the episode would have been impossible to watch. There was so much exposure but it felt like we already knew most of it? They talked about how multiple timelines existing was bad because chaos and stuff, and they talked about the war in which the different timelines battled each other. Ok we already knew this. I feel like the only important thing to take from that whole talk was that Kang's variants are very powerful and dangerous and they were introducing the villain to the mcu. The whole episode felt like instead of giving closure to the characters or ending some storylines, the main thing it was doing was introducing the concept of the multiverse for the next marvel movies.
Something that surprised me a lot about the show is how important it is for the mcu storyline. Like in the first episode they talked about how the tva (and of course Kang) was much more powerful than the Infinity Stones, when basically all previous marvel movies were about them and about their power. And then Kang was revealed to have created a sacred timeline, he controls absolutely everything that happens. All of this is so important and for some reason I didn't think the show was gonna be like this. Not that I'm complaining, this is great. And I feel like a lot of people are not realising how big it is? Like I don't see much talking about how this is literally the greatest power in the universe.
Damn this is getting long sorry.
I suppose I'll have to talk about it because it has been this big thing. I'm talking about the loki x sylvie pairing. I didn't like it too much, it felt a lot like the writers went "he's a guy she's a girl so they have to fall in love", like I felt they had a very different dynamic and when they said that I was mostly surprised and confused. Because they were variants of each other their romance felt weird to me, and the fact that they made a character genderfluid and then made a woman and a man version fall in love also rubbed me the wrong way (I'll talk about the genderfluidity later). I did like the mobius x loki pairing more, but still I don't think they should have got any romance this season, I feel like there has to be a lot more progress in that relationship before any romance. I generally feel like Loki should first start getting some friends and then later on we can start with romance. But yeah this is just my opinion. And all the drama and discourse there has been over this???? Some of you guys look ridiculous not gonna lie.
Ok now let's talk about representation. I'm not poc myself so I don't feel like I'm in the position to say if something was good or bad, so I'm not gonna talk about poc rep. The show did a good job with female characters, many of the main characters were women and they were very well-written, not sexualized and cast appropriately for their age (I can't believe I'm praising this, this should be the bare minimum. Why is media in general so bad. Like please just.) About the bi rep now. I'm sure that the writers or directors of the show had to fight really hard with marvel so that they could make loki canon bi, so yeah cheers to that guys good job. Obviously it's not enough, and I really hope his bisexuality is explored more later. But yeah we finally have a queer character in the mcu this is big. Now about the genderfluid rep. OOF. I have a lot to say about this. It was bad. Really bad. I don't know if they just don't know what genderfluid means but that's what it looks like after watching the show. Not only were all of the variants cis, but they also went on to say that Loki as a woman was a weird and uncommon thing. Oh my god. And what angers me the most is the fact that Marvel used the so called genderfluid confirmation to their benefit. They exploited so much that little piece of paper that said his sex (not even gender) was fluid. I saw SO MANY articles praising marvel for making him canon genderfluid, and then it was absolutely shit. Absolutely shit. Out of everything in the show this is definitely what I hate the most.
Gotta calm down now. The soundtrack of the show was amazing, the actual songs they used were perfect and then the music they composed for the show was just *chef's kiss* (i have no idea how they're called but the song that plays during the title sequence WHAT A BANGER and the one that plays when loki and mobius are looking at the whole tva from the balcony in the first ep WHAT A BANGER). The aesthetic of the show was also great, the colours were really pretty (Lamentis bi colours my beloved) and I think it had some really cool shots. The acting was great, I'm gonna highlight Kang because I thought he was amazing. The costumes and that stuff were also really cool, I really liked seeing all the different versions of outfits they gave to the Loki variants (if anyone is interested I made another post reviewing all the variants' outfits) and Kang's funky costume was great too. The design of the places and that stuff (I have no idea how to call these lol I'm trying so hard but I don't know any of the technical words) was great: Lamentis was really beautiful, the void was also very cool and the tva was really well designed.
Ok y'all I think this is it. I'm so sorry this is much longer than I expected and if anyone actually reads all of it i love you and PLEASE tell me your thoughts (if anyone wanna chat about the show with me privately send me a message!!! I love talking with y'all). A little final note, English is not my first language, nor my second, so yeah sorry if I can't explain myself well. Bye!!!!

Wrong Type of Comfort
This Imagine from @imagine-loki submitted by @jotun-philosopher gave me an idea for a small fic. Did not follow it much so there’s a twist to it.
Word Count : 1700
Prompt : Imagine Loki noticing you’re upset about something, so he turns himself into a huge purry fluffy cat and jumps on you to tromple you with his fuzzy lil’ paddy-paws and give you snuggles and headpushes
_______________________________________
Sometimes the world is just not on your side and you feel like it’s personally out to get you.
The last few weeks feel like you were running on autopilot. Going through the motions at work and crashing without any energy left at the end of the day.
The weekend finally arrived and you were able to relax around the tower. Tony had given you the weekend off when he noticed how beat up you were but it was now Sunday and all the sleeping and relaxing hadn’t helped at all. You still felt exhausted.
When you woke up this morning, you made your way to the shared living room. Since you had spent the last two days in your room to rest and it hadn’t worked, you thought that a change of scenery might help you recharge.
Tony was the first person to see you on the couch under your pile of blankets.
“Hey there Y/N! Are you feeling any better?” Tony asked you, trying to see where your head was under everything.
“Hi Tony, I thought the time off would help but I can’t seem to shake off this tiredness,” you admit popping your head up to see him clearly.
“You can take more time off Y/N. We need you on the team but we need you at a hundred percent. I want you to be okay and not burnt out,” You can see the worry in Tony’s eyes. You feel bad for making him worry so much.
“I can’t make you just wait for me Tony. I’ll be able to work tomorrow.”
“Don’t rush it Y/N, you can take at least another day okay? I don’t want to see you do any work before Tuesday, got it?”
“If that makes you stop worrying so much about me Tony, I’ll do it.”
“I always worry about you Y/N/ Now, do you need anything? Soup, tea, water.. anything?”
“I’m okay Tony, really please stop worrying about me.”
“Okay then. I’ll send someone to check on you in a few hours to make sure you’re eating,” with that he ruffled your hair and walked away.
You smiled and fixed up the hair that fell into your eyes. Having someone care so much about you feels good, but it’s not enough to completely lift the funk that you’re in.
Flipping the channels on the tv, you stopped on a cartoon that you enjoyed when you were younger and cuddled further into the couch. An hour into the movie, Steve comes in the room with a tray full of food.
“Tony sent me a message saying that you were in here and needed, and I quote, ‘a shit ton of food’. Is there anything that you want and don’t see here?”
“Thank you Steve but you didn’t have to do all of this! I won’t be able to eat it all.” He had brought you a giant bowl of mixed fruits, some eggs, pancakes, toasts, a few different kinds of jams, waffles with all the toppings, and a plate full of bacon.
“I can help with that,” Loki smoothly waltz in the room with a smirk. Loki and you weren’t what you would call friends but you would talk once in a while.
“I mean, if Steve is okay with it, he’s the one who made it all,” you look at him for his input.
“Go right ahead Loki I just ate, but make sure Y/N eats her share. Tony’s orders.”
You roll your eyes but Loki nods and comes to sit beside you on the couch. Once Steve leaves the room, Loki turns to you looking curious.
“So why are the Captain and robotic man so worried about you this time?” Loki asks when he pops a grape into his mouth.
“They’re just over reacting. I’ve been tired lately and all the sleep I had in the last two days hasn’t helped, but I’ll be okay.”
“Have you fallen ill?”
“I don’t think I have.” You hadn’t thought of that. You didn’t notice any more symptoms but that didn’t mean you didn’t have a small fever.
Loki surprised you by sitting closer and reaching his hand to touch your forehead. That is the first time he’s ever touched you and you weren’t expecting how smooth his hand was. You’ve seen videos of how he fights and you expected his hands to be rough.
“Well, your temperature seems okay but I wouldn’t be the best judge since, well, frost giant and everything,” he moves back to his previous spot on the couch and reaches for more food.
You chuckle and reach for some food as well. “Friday, could you check my vitals please?”
“Of course Y/N, your vitals are all good.”
“So no fever Friday?”
“Your temperature is normal Miss Y/N.”
“Thank you Friday. I guess you were right Loki.”
“I guess so, now make sure you eat enough of this before I get blamed.” Loki grabs the bowl of fruits and plops it onto your lap.
Talking to people and seeing them trying to take care of you is helping lift your spirits just a little bit.
“So what has been going on Y/N? Friday said there was nothing medically wrong,” Loki asks again, not pushing but curious.
“I think it’s mentally. I’ve been feeling a lot negative and low energy for the last few weeks and nothing seems to get better. Usually a good night’s sleep will help but lately it’s been dream after dream where I wake up even more stressed than I was before.”
“So you haven’t been sleeping well?”
“No. Even the last two days, the only thing I did was sleep and relax but it didn’t help me.”
“Could I try something to help?”
“Of course,” you nod almost enthusiastically, wanting anything to help you rest.
You watch as Loki completely disappears in front of your eyes and a black cat is sitting right where he was, the eyes are the same ones you were looking into a few seconds before just more cat-like.
The cat pads his way to you and head-butts your cheek before sitting next to the fruit bowl on your lap.
You smile sweetly at him until you feel a sneeze explode out of you. Once your eyes open, even Loki notices how watered they got. Another sneeze comes out and Loki jumps back to his previous spot and turns back into himself.
“What’s wrong? I thought you weren’t sick,” worry floods his eyes.
“No I’m not sick it’s,” another sneeze. “It’s only allergies. I’m allergic to cats,” and another sneeze.
“I am so sorry, darling!” You can see how bad Loki feels. “Is there something I can do?”
A sneeze comes out before you can start talking. “Could you just get my allergy medication from my bathroom?”
“Yes, of course!” Loki jumps up from the couch and disappears from the room.
A few seconds later, Loki comes back with the bottle of medication you needed and hands it to you. You pop a pill and swallow it between sneezes.
“I apologize, Y/N. I didn’t know you’d have a bad reaction like this.”
“It’s okay Loki, you didn’t know I was allergic. It’s not your fault.” By the end of the conversation your symptoms had already slowed down a lot. You’re sneezing stopped but your nose was still congested. “Thank you for trying to make me feel better.”
“Trying being the key word right?” You laugh. “Are you allergic to dogs as well?”
“No, I love dogs!”
Loki smirks and transforms himself into a beautiful black lab and makes his way towards you on the couch. You smile and pat his head when he rests it on your lap.
“Would you like some?” You ask Loki pointing to the fruit bowl next to his face. He just pushes the bowl a bit with his nose closer towards you.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be eating some too.” You pick up a piece of watermelon and put it next to his mouth.
You spend the rest of the morning like this, eating through the food tray together and finishing the rest of your movie, you even start another one. After all the food is gone you make yourself more comfortable on the couch and Loki does too, coming closer to you.
He head-butts your hand until you get the message and you start to pet him. The soothing motion of petting his soft fur slowly makes you fall into a comfortable, stress free sleep and Loki falls asleep as well.
A few hours later, Tony walks in to check on Y/N and what he sees is not something he’d ever imagine seeing. His little chuckle wakes up the dog on the couch. Loki slowly removes himself from next to you and makes his way toward Tony and by the time he’s in front of him, he’s back to his Asgardian form.
“One word of this to anyone and you will regret it,” Loki fumes into Tony’s face.
“Don’t worry Lassie, you helped Y/N feel better so I’ll keep your soft side a secret,” Tony smirks and leaves the room.
Loki’s furious face disappears when he turns around and sees you still sound asleep on the couch with a peaceful expression on your face. He makes his way closer to you and makes sure you’re covered under your blanket then picks up everything around and brings it all to the kitchen.
“Did she eat some of it or did you eat it all?” Steve asks when he sees Loki dropping off the empty food tray.
“She ate most of it actually. After she got comfortable she ate a lot more. She’s sleeping peacefully now so don’t go rushing in there.”
“Tony sent out a message just a few minutes ago to the whole tower saying not to bother her.”
“Of course he did,” Loki rolls his eyes and turns to leave the room.
“Hey, Loki. Thanks for helping her,” Steve sincerely says.
Loki nods and leaves the room. You might be able to call your relationship a friendship now.

Ficlet Prompt: Brodinsons, Post-Ragnarok. Thor and Loki having to share a bed and getting annoyed with the other's sleeping habits. Sibling hijinks ensues! :3 (some normal, some magical :D)
I had a lot of adorable fun with this one. Ignore my questionable biology re: allergies and fake gravity. Thank you for the prompt, @ms-aqua-marvella!
Word count: 1644
_____
Loki would be horrified if he knew, but norns, he was snoring.
It had been centuries since they’d shared a bed, so Thor had forgotten all of Loki’s unconscious little quirks. He’d especially forgotten that, when Loki traveled by airship for long distances, he snored when he slept.
He never snored at home, or anywhere else as far as Thor knew. It was just that something in the artificial gravity on board spacecrafts disagreed with Loki’s constitution, made it hard for him to breathe properly.
It was simply one of those things, or so they’d always thought. Some Aesir were intolerant of specific berries and could not eat them without breaking out in a rash. Others found it difficult to breathe in the springtime, when fresh flowers bloomed and pollen drenched the air.
There was no real reason. Eir simply said that biology worked that way sometimes. Neither Thor nor Loki gave it much more thought.
Now, though, Thor had to wonder if it had something to do with Loki’s being Jotun.
It was not a question he could ever ask.
Thor sighed and rolled onto his side, facing his brother. Usually, their roles were reversed: in the days that followed Ragnarok, as they existed on this massive ship with its tiny, cramped cabins, Thor would spend his time trying to be in several places at once.
There was so much to do and, each night, Thor would drop into bed thoroughly exhausted; he’d be asleep practically before his head hit the pillow.
Loki, on the other hand, slept very little. He made himself scarce during the day and in the evenings, he spent more time reading or practicing spells than he did in their bed. Thor only knew this because, without fail, each time Thor woke up in the middle of the night for one reason or another, Loki was always awake and occupied with something.
Tonight, Thor couldn’t remember what had woken him - if he’d ever managed to fall asleep at all. There was an odd restlessness in his bones, an itch to be up and moving and working. Anxiety-driven, most likely. That happened sometimes.
At some point, Loki had climbed into their bed and fallen asleep, and now as Thor watched him, listening to the soft purr of his snores, he had to reflect that never did Loki look younger or more peaceful than when he slept. The years and his troubles simply fell away.
He slept on his side, somewhat curled up, hugging his pillow. His black hair obscured part of his face, and his chest rose and fell gently. Thor had a sharp memory, then, of a little boy with the same dark hair, curled up beside Thor in bed; it felt like yesterday, and it made tears spring to Thor’s eye because they were not those children anymore and would never know such innocence again.
To distract himself, Thor reached out and nudged Loki’s shoulder. “Loki,” he whispered.
Loki didn’t move.
“Loki,” Thor said, louder this time. He nudged Loki again.
Loki stirred a little, blinking sleepily at Thor. “What,” he murmured. “What’s wrong.”
“You’re snoring,” Thor informed him, with yet another nudge. “It’s keeping me up.”
“I don’t snore.” The words were automatic, and even mostly asleep, Loki sounded offended. “Leave me alone.”
“You do snore,” Thor continued. “On ships, remember? You always have. You’ve not outgrown your allergy.”
“My allergy to what? Spaceships?” Loki groaned and rolled onto his back. He rubbed his eyes.
“No, to artificial gravity. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten.”
Loki frowned, and then yawned. “Oh, that.”
Thor waited, but Loki didn’t elaborate further. His eyelids were already drooping; he was already finished with the conversation, ready to doze off again.
Thor should have let him sleep - Loki did not sleep nearly enough - but the idea of spending even one more minute staring into the darkness, restless and awake, made Thor’s skin itch.
He didn’t want to be alone.
“Hey.” Thor poked Loki’s arm. “Has it been bothering you? The gravity? Have you been feeling unwell?”
“No.” Loki’s eyes drifted closed.
“You would tell me, right?”
“Mhm.”
It took less than a minute for Loki’s breathing to even out as he fell asleep again. Thor propped his head up on his elbow, watching his brother, and waiting. Sure enough, after a few minutes, the soft snoring started again.
“Loki.” Thor nudged him hard, and Loki woke with a jolt.
“What?” Loki batted Thor’s hand away. “What do you want now?”
“You’re snoring again.”
“I am not - but, if I were, clearly it’s because I can’t help it.” Loki’s green-eyed gaze slid over to Thor; somehow, he managed to give Thor a look that was both withering and adorably sleepy. “You’re welcome to sleep elsewhere, if you’re so bothered,” he added.
“Me?” Thor squeaked. “Why should I be the one to leave? If anything, you should sleep elsewhere.”
“Why? My alleged snoring isn’t bothering me.”
Thor groaned. He flopped over onto his stomach, pulling his pillow to his chest and using it to prop himself up. “You are the most impossible brother,” he said.
“You’re the one waking me up at norns o’clock in the morning to nag me.” Loki turned onto his side, barely lifting his head from his own pillow. “Don’t talk to me about impossible brothers.”
“Fine, fine.” Thor shook his head and then let out a snort of laughter. “I feel like we’re children again,” he went on. “At least you aren’t kicking me in your sleep. You used to do that.”
“Only to get you off of me,” Loki returned. He closed his eyes again, but seemed to be more or less awake now, which pleased Thor. “You’re a sleep cuddler. Treated me like a stuffed animal companion.”
“You liked it,” Thor said with a grin.
Loki made a face. “I most certainly did not. You took up too much space. You suffocated me. I’m lucky to have made it to adolescence alive and in one piece, as a matter of fact.”
“Alive and in one piece, but certainly dramatic as all hell,” Thor retorted. “A trait that has persisted through adulthood, I might add.”
Opening his eyes, Loki flashed an unexpected grin. “Yeah,” he agreed. He looked over at Thor and then, as if on cue, they both started giggling.
Oh, how Thor had missed this. He had not even realized how much he missed it - there had not been time to realize how deeply he felt not just the loss of Loki, but the loss of Loki-and-Thor, the single unit they’d been for so many centuries.
Everything had been so chaotic since that ill-fated venture to Jotunheim. A millennium of life could not have prepared Thor and Loki for the worst ten years they’d ever have to face. There had been banishment. There had been death. There had been untold loss and so many lies that truth became more of a concept than something real to hold onto.
All culminating in Ragnarok - the end of the world.
Now, here they were on the other side. Laying close in this small bed aboard a drifting ship. “How did we get here?” Thor wondered aloud. “You and I.”
Loki made a show of pulling his pillow over his head. “Don’t get philosophical on me now, brother.” His voice was muffled, and a moment later he tossed the pillow aside. “Does it matter? We’re here now.”
“I suppose.” Thor reached for Loki’s discarded pillow and tucked it under his own.
“Hey,” Loki protested.
“Sorry, did you want this?” Thor hugged both pillows, pressing his face into the soft cotton. “Mm. So comfy.”
Loki scowled; a moment later, both pillows abruptly vanished into thin air. Thor’s head dropped to the mattress and he let out a little yelp of sheer surprise.
Loki waved his hand. The pillows reappeared under his own head. He made a show of fluffing them up, then arched an eyebrow at Thor. “Oh, sorry, did you want these?”
“Worst brother ever,” Thor grumbled.
“Best brother ever,” Loki corrected. “You love me.”
“Yeah, but I don’t like you very much.”
Loki laughed at that, reaching out and kicking Thor’s ribs with his bare foot. “Ass.”
Thor smiled at him and adjusted his position. He edged closer to Loki and settled his own head onto the pillows, shoving Loki - gently - aside to make room. “If you wanted to cuddle, brother, all you had to do was ask,” he remarked as he settled in.
“Yes, but subterfuge is much more my specialty,” Loki said. His words were accompanied by an eyeroll, but he didn’t protest Thor sharing the pillows. Perhaps, he felt a little nostalgic, too. “Now, are you going to let me get some sleep or not?”
“Only if you stop snoring.”
“For the last time, I do not snore.”
Thor reached for the blankets and pulled them up around his shoulders, making sure to tuck Loki in, too. “Yes, you do. But I’ll try not to hold it against you.” In fact, Thor was feeling much sleepier than he had before. The restlessness had eased from him without his even realizing it. Loki had that sort of soothing effect.
“Good, because if you wake me up again, I’ll turn you into a frog.”
“I dare you to try.”
Loki smirked and reached out. Green seidr flickered at his fingertips and, despite himself, Thor shrank back a bit, which made Loki look immensely pleased with himself. He wiggled his fingers, the light fading away. Then he turned onto his side and - to Thor’s surprise - laid his head on Thor’s shoulder.
“Goodnight, Thor,” Loki said, his breath ghosting along Thor’s collarbone.
Thor smiled. He patted Loki’s hair, just like he used to do when they were children. Then he settled in and wrapped his arm protectively around his brother. “Goodnight, Loki.”

numb (thor x loki)
@thorkicraving needed something to cheer her up, so I wrote this. Hope you guys enjoy it! ♥
(Also yes, I had kind of an obsession with Thor’s blue eyes in this one-shot, I’m sorry.)
Characters: Thor, Loki
Pairings: Thor x Loki, Thor x Jane (mentioned)
Universe: post-Ragnarok
Words: 1,198
Trigger warning: incest? But like, not really? And drinking.
Summary: Loki wakes up to find he’s alone in his bed and Thor is nowhere to be found.
Read it on AO3
“Thor? Thor!” Loki’s voice seemed to lose itself in the dark hallways of the spaceship. He’d woken up in the middle of the night to find his brother was no longer next to him, so he’d gone to look for him, but he was nowhere to be seen. “Where in the nine realms is he?”, he mumbled under his breath. He was bound to wake up the whole spaceship if he continued looking for him much longer, what with the amount of noise he was making. Not that he particularly cared.
He was growing extremely frustrated. He had looked everywhere, and still Thor remained hidden, lost somewhere in the deepest pits of this damned spaceship. Loki pushed open a door for what felt like the umpteenth time, and almost sprawled to the floor. He had narrowly avoided tripping over his sibling, who was sitting with his back against the wall on the threshold of the dark room, nursing what looked a lot like a bottle of some type of strong alcohol. The reek of it hit the raven-haired man hard. He scrunched his nose, but he didn’t say anything as he lowered himself to a squat, eyes level with Thor’s. His gaze searched his brother’s for a while, but no emotions were transpiring behind the veil of drunkenness, and he had to give up. Softly, his hand came up to cup Thor’s cheek. “I was looking for you.”
“Scared, brother?”, he breathed, mouth quirking into a small smile.
A mischievous grin inched up Loki’s lips. He let his hand drop to his lap, eyes still anchored in the two deep blue oceans facing him. “You wish.” As usual, he was hiding his concern behind a light-hearted voice and sarcastic words. He was no good with dealing with feelings, especially not other people’s. Especially not his older brother’s. He felt incapable of giving any comfort, and therefore recoiled inside his shell, the one labeled god of mischief, the one that defined him the best. It helped him, to be predictable. To be what other people expected. To be selfish, to betray the ones he loved without even a second thought. It was the safest way to deal with things without getting hurt. Don’t get attached, don’t bring yourself to care and take everything as a joke. That was his mindset.
But Thor made those decisions extremely difficult to stick to.
“What are you doing anyway? Drowning your demons in -what even is this?” He took the bottle from Thor’s hands and read the label. “Whisky?”
The warrior stared at him, mute, his eyes dark. A tropical storm was brewing in the blue skies of his irises, sure to destroy everything in its path. “I can’t drown my demons. They know how to swim.”
How cliché that sounds, Thor. “That seems awfully philosophical for someone as drunk as you are.”
Thor didn’t even grant him the luxury of an answer. His eyes simply bored deeper into his brother’s skull, oscillating between extreme indifference and someplace far off that Loki couldn’t see. He tried desperately to seem detached, unbothered by Thor’s obvious distress, but the truth was, he was badly shaken. Whatever had caused this drunken state, this desperation in his gaze, it was destroying him from the inside out, and taking Loki with it. He couldn’t stand seeing his brother like that.
“Brother, please, talk to me. I can make it better, you know that, but I can’t do that if I don’t know what you’re dealing with in the first place.” The Jotun’s feverish, urgent tone seemed to snap Thor out of his drunken state. He stared at Loki for a few seconds as if just discovering he was here, as if he’d just appeared from thin air.
“Loki?”
“Yes. Tell me what’s wrong. I can make it better.”
It was silent for a few moments before Thor burst into an awfully bitter laugh. His eyes slid from Loki’s face to the bottle his brother had put back on the ground, contemplating whether or not he should go for it. Loki snatched it and put it to the side, far away from his reach. “I’m in love with someone I can’t have.”
“Jane…”
“Jane has nothing to do with it.” He raised his deep blue gaze up to his younger brother’s, pupils smoldering with an emotion Loki couldn’t frame. His heart jumped, a wild animal wrestling to be let out of the bone cage it was trapped in. Thor was drunk, he could get him to admit his deepest, darkest secrets, and if he wasn’t in love with Jane, could it be…
“What do you mean, she has nothing to do with this? Who’s responsible for the wreck of a god you’ve become then?”
Thor chuckled, the sound broken. “You wouldn’t be happy with that person, would you? Are you jealous? Or just protective? What’s up Loki, what’s got your panties in a twist?”
The dark-haired man raised his right eyebrow at his brother, totally unbothered by the weird insults he was getting. Thor was simply avoiding the question. Goddamn him, even drunk he was capable of keeping his secrets.
And Loki had to admit, his brother was right. His stomach was tying itself into knots from anticipation and adrenaline, desire and envy seeping into his veins like a venomous poison.
“I’m perfectly fine. You, on the other hand, don’t seem to be.”
“Oh, leave me alone, Loki,” he answered, hand swatting the air in front of him as if chasing a stray fly away. “I told you I can’t have him. Is that not enough? You can’t do anything for me.”
“Him?”
Thor stared daggers at his younger brother. Of course he wouldn’t let any piece of information slip past him. “Whatever. This conversation is over.” He tried to get up, but the world tilted and turned around him, and Loki rushed up to catch him in his arms before he hit the ground face-first.
“Odin damn you, Thor,” Loki grumbled.
Thor’s face was inches from his. He could almost count his eyelashes. Against his better judgment, his green gaze flickered to Thor’s lips, so close, so desirable, even though the breath fanning his face reeked of alcohol. That didn’t escape the blonde warrior, igniting a flame of burning desire deep in the ocean of his gaze. He set his forehead on his brother’s, eyes sliding closed.
“We shouldn’t, Thor. You’re drunk, and I’m…”
“You’re what? You don’t want this?”
“I do, I just…”
That answer was enough for Thor. He kissed him sweetly, softly, lips coaxing Loki’s to open for him, tongue sliding in and initiating a sensual ballet. Loki’s hands slid up his torso, his shoulders, his neck, to settle behind his head, pulling him ever closer. Eventually, they broke apart, chests heaving, breaths coming in ragged gasps. “We’re going to regret this in the morning.”
“No we’re not. I’m not. Loki, don’t you understand? You’re the one I was talking about. You’re the one I love, the one I thought I could never get.”
Loki’s heart did a flip. He grabbed Thor by the back of the head and kissed him again, long and hard.

[Etude 1] To Honor Raven – Part 2
Tumblr media
[Part 1]
Valgar and Brian eventually reached the shrine after a long trek, and at spotting the fire beneath the tall Raven shrine Brian ran ahead with the promise of feeling sensation within his hands once more.
“Raven has guided you here today.”
Brian paused at the voice, looking around before spotting a tall female norn, adorned with feathers, sitting on a rock beside the shrine with a curious look on her face. Brian could only assume it was the shrine’s shaman.
“I’m here with Valgar Blinderhogg,” Brian spoke, his voice hoarse from the cold. He continued to walk towards the shrine, eager to reach the fire. “We are on a pilgrimage to visit Raven’s shrines. Valgar has brought the offering.” Upon reaching the shrine he began taking off his gloves to soak in the heat from the crackling fire. ‘Blessed warmth!’
“So Raven has told me, young wolf.”
As Brian glanced at her in surprise Valgar emerged, looking slightly out of breath as he spoke. “Sveinulf - you should be more cautious when you run ahead like that. My magic can only go so far!” He quickly spotted the amused shaman sitting nearby. “Ho! Raven’s spirit is here today - Huldra Darkfeather, is it?”
The shaman rose with a smile, “Valgar Blinderhogg. Raven has been expecting you.”
The dark-haired norn smiled warmly, “I see - I have brought a gift to honour Raven!”
Brian watched as the two norn greeted one another, still amazed that Raven had spoken of him to the shaman. ‘I wish I could know what it was like to speak to the Spirits,’ he thought to himself. That privilege only existed for the Norn, as Valgar had explained to him, and was very rare. It was the same reason Brian was unable to feel anything as they both moved and knelt at the looming shrine. Valgar had always described the experience as invigorating, as if his aches were slowly lifted. Brian envied his mentor for that.
“You are welcome to stay the night if you so wish,” the shaman spoke once they had finished, indicating a small makeshift camp that was set up next to it. The group sat around the shrine, the fire crackling behind them. “A Jotun tribe live within those hills nearby, but they know not to disturb Raven’s nest. You will be safe here tonight.”
“Ho - a Jotun tribe hm?” Valgar looked to the hills nearby, managing to spot a small campfire through the wind and snow. Two Jotun were walking up towards it, carrying large sticks in their hands. “Yes - they have lived there for generations. They have a holy site nearby where their elder spirits lie,” the shaman explained, also looking to the hills. “Occasionally we have those from the Durmand Priory pass through here to study them.” “I’m not surprised - the Jotun have a rich history!”
Brian scoffed at the two, “We saw some Jotan on our way here - looked more like drooling ettin to me. What do the Priory study from them, mud huts?”
Huldra raised a judgmental eyebrow at the young human, “The Jotun were once a very advanced race - they studied the stars and were great philosophers. Most wrote their findings on large runestones, which to this day provide a deep insight into their culture. It does not do well to sneer at them.”
Brian averted his eyes, his face flushing at the tall norn’s rebuke. He heard Valgar chuckle, “Never simply judge from appearance, sveinulf! The Jotun are smarter than you think - despite having fallen so far from their ancestors.”
“Why did they fall?” Brian asked, becoming curious despite the previous rebuke’s sting.
“Pride,” Huldra began, the other two looking to her as she spoke. “At the height of their advancement, the Jotun tribes began to view each of themselves as superior to others. Because of this, their community became fractured - and they fell into a multitude of civil wars that continued for centuries. Unfortunately, the wars destroyed most of their knowledge and technology - leaving them now to be less than they once were.”
Looking up to the far hills, Brian frowned as he listened to her words. ‘Those things? Philosophers?’ It seemed bizarre to him, remembering the grunting Jotun that they had carefully avoided as they had trudged down the snowy path.
Suddenly, all three turned to see someone approach the shrine. Brian was quick to make them out to be a young human woman wearing the uniform of the Durmand Priory.
“Hello!” she exclaimed, before pausing to catch her breath as she stopped in front of the group. “Hello - my name is Alexis, I’m from the Priory. Have you seen a Jotun carrying large totems passing through here?”
“No,” Huldra responded. “Not anywhere close to this shrine.”
Valgar frowned, “What did these totems look like?”
She frowned, “Tall - like giant sticks only with elaborate carvings in them. We were transporting them to the Durmond Priory but we were interrupted by a group of Jotun - we survived but they took the totems.”
“Ah!” Valgar responded, his voice raised in realisation. “I did just see two Jotun carrying large sticks as they arrived back at their camp over there!” He pointed to where he had seen them, much to Alexis’ despondency.
“Damn it, back to their camp?! Urgh, Kasen’s going to have my head for this!”
“We could go and get it back from them,” Brian suggested. He didn’t think the Jotun were much of a challenge - not compared to Valgar at least. He needed the sword practice too, and this was a great opportunity for it.
Huldra shook her head, “No - it is too dangerous. There are too many of them up there - you will have to wait for a more opportune time to get it back.”
“Bu-” Valgar raised his hand, and Brian shut his mouth - annoyance brimming inside him. “We should not disturb the peace. Huldra is right, it is not wise to rush in. You will have to come up with another plan”
Dejected, Alexis sighed. “I guess you’re right. Thank you for your help - we’ll see what we can do.”
Brian crossed his arms as the Priory woman left, his face pouting in annoyance. “It would be simple to get the totem! A bit of a distraction and we can grab it - why should we wait?!”
“Never rush into unknown territory on a whim,” Huldra spoke, looking down at Brian. “You do not know the Jotun like me or the Priory. They are hostile, and will not hesitate to hunt you down if they discover you have stolen from them. I’m sure that’s why they attacked that group in the first place.”
“Tch.” Brian huffed, frustrated that he was so simply brushed off. He wanted to prove that he was strong enough to help others - and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to put that into practice. Gazing at the hillside, he watched the Jotun move to put out the small campfire - and soon they were obscured in the dark.
The group prepared the camp for sleeping, and while the conversation between the two norn had lead to other discussions - Brian’s thoughts remained on the stolen totem. Sliding into the flat bed, he gazed up as he touched the small wolf totem that hung from his neck. ‘I’m smaller than both Jotan and Norn - it would be easy for me to sneak into the tribe at night! That totem won’t be too hard to find...’
He lay his head down, feigning sleep as he started to formulate a plan.

Do you think Aziraphale has a raging praise kink in addition to his 'food' and 'Crowley watching him do stuff' kinks? *hands you a box of spiced apple muffins, along with the recipe: https://www.hairybikers.com/recipes/view/spiced-apple-muffins*
Hi @jotun-philosopher! A recipe!!! I'm so excited. The website you shared is quite interesting. I'll have to make these on the other side of my holiday food as they look delicious. Do I think Aziraphale has a raging praise kink? Oh, yeah. Raging might be an understatement lol.
Praise kink and trauma thoughts under the cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In S2, we go from Lord Beezlebub paralleling Aziraphale, missing their Crowley (Gabriel) while in Hell, and musing that it'd be nice if someone ever told them they were doing a good job over to Aziraphale doing some difficult trauma work in Edinburgh and calling Crowley to talk to him about it. What goes a little undersung here, imo, is the way this is filmed and how Aziraphale can't stop talking about 1827 to a point that Crowley actually has to prompt him into telling him what he learned at the pub about Gabriel. This is because while Aziraphale-- who really didn't need to go to this cemetery at all for any reason related to figuring out what happened to Gabriel-- has been back to Edinburgh since 1827 (Crowley mentions him going to Edinburgh "for the festival" in 1.01), he's never been back to this spot since the night Crowley was yanked to Hell in front of him.
When we come in on Aziraphale at the cemetery, it's right off of that scene in the 1827 flashback and then we watch Aziraphale turn around again, now in the present, right? It's that he does have to turn around that's pretty significant. It says that he's not here because he thought maybe seeing Gabriel's statue again might give him some random insight as to what's happening to Gabriel in the present. He wasn't looking at the statue at first-- we come in on him looking at the spot where Crowley was taken.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crowley and Aziraphale are in a place between S1 and S2 where Armageddon: Round Two could theoretically happen at any time. They have no idea if it's happening in five years or next Thursday or in an hour, really, and that's made the fact that Aziraphale has really never gotten over 1827 worse for him, to a point that it now bothers him to be away from Crowley for any significant length of time, especially if they've been arguing, because he's always worried that something will happen while they're apart and he'll never see him again. He spent almost a month (estimated by the dates in his diary) in 1827 thinking that had happened. He does some work on that in Edinburgh by deciding to go to the spot again and, when he does, he has to magically get the nearest cell phone so he can talk to Crowley from the spot because he knows that hearing his voice will help.
By telling Crowley that he's looking at the statue of Gabriel, we get in his knowledge that Crowley will understand the significance of this (and in Crowley's response indicating that he does) that they've talked about this at some point. There are other suggestions of that in the season (like the "I'm coming back. I won't leave you on your own" moment) but this phone conversation says that Aziraphale has verbalized to Crowley at some point how much 1827 still bothers him and Crowley understands that Aziraphale is telling him that he's taking a step towards trying to deal with it more.
(This is also an example of Aziraphale having done something clever and needing to call Crowley to tell him about it before he pops lol, which he's apparently been doing a lot lately since he no longer can get a pat on the back from Heaven, not that he ever did much, which is part of the whole damn problem. One could then perhaps presume that Crowley's been doling out a lot of praise over the phone of late, in addition to in person.)
Tumblr media
So Crowley responds to Aziraphale telling him that he's in the cemetery in Edinburgh and looking at the Gabriel statue/trying to deal with 1827 by doing what they do sometimes-- cheer each other up from some depressing stuff about the past with a little of some of each other's favorite sexy chat.
This is basically a mirror in reverse of the scene in S1 in the car on the way to Tadfield where Crowley tells Aziraphale more about the antichrist baby swap and how it went wrong. Crowley was feeling depressed about the whole mess and how Armageddon was imminent now as a result of it and Aziraphale's response was to pivot to what was, effectively, dirty talking him in blasphemous Bible speak euphemisms in a dry-as-all-fuck, combination Pompous Angel/mildly soft dom tone because Crowley's sooooo weak for that lol. (I'm talking about the "seeds of destruction" scene, the dirtiness of which is probably a whole other meta, since we're mostly talking about Aziraphale here.)
Aziraphale's version of that is a massive praise kink. He looooves being told he's good at something or he did a good job or really just anything related to him and goodness, since Heaven's done a number on him and he struggles sometimes to fundamentally believe that he is good, which is lunacy but so are negative thought cycles in the first place. The praise thing with Crowley isn't unhealthy-- I'm not suggesting that. Aziraphale's negative thought cycle is unhealthy, obviously, but the praise kink thing with Crowley is actually not a terrible counter to it. It's obviously not the entire solution to dealing with Heaven's abuse of him but it is also doesn't hurt that Aziraphale believes Crowley and values what he thinks, which can help break up negative thoughts.
It exists both in and out of bed and Crowley was intentionally blending that over the phone in the Edinburgh scene by responding to Aziraphale being like I did the really hard trauma work thing we were talking about today and I'm still here go me with the kind of praise you'd give someone for doing something that was tough ("good job") but delivered low and with the little "mmrmm" before it, which was to associate it with, uh, other kinds of praise Aziraphale has elicited from Crowley before, by way of also invoking Aziraphale's Assorted Rumbly Crowley Sounds Kink as well.
Aziraphale undoubtedly heard it and replied around it, like he was doing with most of Crowley's flirting with him in S2, because driving Crowley slowly insane is also Aziraphale's favorite past time. It was made funnier by the fact that he left Crowley in London to get The Shop Lesbians together, explain The Vavoom to a memory-wiped Jimbriel, answer any questions about love for the Inspector Constable angel Heaven sent to spy on them, and fix Shax's "hot water boiler" so The Love Doctor was in and getting no love himself lol. Crowley's comment wasn't meant to go anywhere anyway, really-- Gabriel was literally five feet away at the time, which was probably also amusing Crowley-- but yeah, I think the conscious, intentional way Crowley phrased that is meant to suggest that Aziraphale not only likes positive reinforcement in life in general but has a bit of a raging praise kink in bed, with which Crowley is very familiar.

And as it often happens, to westerners who visit the South-East, Alexander got into a philosophical mood and asked his fans this question:

“So I just read an interesting study:
-When people focus on HAPPINESS, they care mostly about the present, and their inner well-being right now. -When people focus on MEANING, they care more about the past and future, not afraid to feel bad right now if it serves a purpose. Soooo, if you had to choose(!), would it be meaning or happiness? 🤓 “

Loki's Apology II: The Press Conference
By:  jotun-philosopher
A/N: I figured that in an in-universe context, Loki making an apology (like the one in my last fic) would create a massive media storm, and that things would get… interesting… pretty quickly, ‘cause, y'know, Loki + reporters XD I guess I’ve settled on the ’S.H.I.E.L.D.-backed’ idea for the apology, ‘cos this ficlet wouldn’t make much sense otherwise… Caution: possible minor spoilers for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (esp. S4) (Bonus: spot the random Discworld reference!) (Disclaimer: I have no idea how this sort of press conference would actually work, so I’ve pretty much pulled the proceedings out of my arse XD)
SCENE XX.X
EXTERIOR: OUTDOOR PRESS CONFERENCE SETUP, DAY
[DIRECTOR MACE is near the podium, twiddling with last-minute details. LOKI, in his black suit, stands slightly behind him and to his left, looking uncomfortable and fiddling with his left palm, while THOR stands on his left, holding Loki’s arm and looking slightly grim. Arrayed behind them are Daisy, Coulson (carrying Bambino – the Destroyer gun), and other agents. A crowd of various REPORTERS and members of the public are in attendance, variously chattering, shifting warily and eyeing Loki with varying levels of hostility. MACE steps up to the podium.]
MACE
Good morning, everyone, and thank you for attending. I am Jeffrey Mace, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. We are here today so that you can put to Loki [gestures towards him; Loki gives a tense, unsmiling nod] any questions you might have for him after his recent apology for the events in New York in 2012. I—
REPORTER #1
[interrupting] Director Mace, are we safe here? What is there to stop this maniac [points at Loki, who looks annoyed] from simply attacking us again?
MACE
[diplomatic and reassuring] Ma'am, there is no cause for alarm. Loki has been thoroughly psychologically vetted by the best professionals S.H.I.E.L.D. has available, who have deemed him safe to attend this event in person. [REPORTER #1 looks sceptical, while Loki rolls his eyes snarkily] Furthermore, Thor himself offered to supervise his brother today [Thor waves and waggles Mjollnir while smiling slightly] and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most formidable agents also volunteered to keep Loki in check—
[Daisy waves to the crowd and makes a 'behave or I’ll Quake your ass’ gesture to Loki, while Coulson brandishes Bambino with an 'I know what this does now’ raised eyebrow; both manage to look simultaneously badass and adorkable. Loki just looks annoyed.]
—so I can assure you that you need have no concerns for your safety. And now, without further ado, here is Loki to answer your questions.
[Mace steps down from the podium, to much flashing of cameras. Loki moves towards it, ducking a couple of thrown missiles along the way, but is briefly paused by Thor giving him a quick, encouraging 'you can do this’ squeeze on the shoulder. Loki accepts it and the two share a brief, complicated brotherly look before he gives a quick nod and continues to the podium]
LOKI
So, umm… first question?
REPORTER #1
Why did it take you so long to make this apology? It’s been over five years since the Battle of New York.
LOKI
[slowly, with a certain flatness]
From a psychological perspective, I was not capable of making the apology before now, because I was so deeply in denial about my role in the events, as well as being consumed with anger about certain things that happened prior to my encountering the Chitauri. [a bit of brittle chirpiness creeps into his tone and he starts speaking slightly more quickly] In practical terms, of course, I was unable to apologise owing to being locked in the palace dungeons up to the time of the Convergence and, afterwards, due to an… interesting concatenation of circumstances stemming from the Dark Elves’ attack on Asgard [crowd murmurs in surprise], I was carrying out extremely important and highly classified political duties for the Asgardian government, so… [gives a slightly manic not-quite-a-smile; in the background, Thor’s expression tightens briefly]
REPORTER #2
What prompted you to finally make your apology?
LOKI
A few things – psychologically recovering to the point where I was able to speak the words and mean them, thinking about what my m… certain people whose opinion I have always valued would want, and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s joint heads of Science & Technology introducing me to Undertale. [flurry of disbelieving noise from the crowd; Loki holds up a hand and continues cheerfully] I’m quite serious! They recommended the game to me during a physical assessment, as having some very cogent moral commentary that happens to be extremely relevant to my own actions. And so it proved. All I’ll say is: flowers should not be that blooming disturbing!
[appreciative chuckles from the crowd]
REPORTER #3
Why did you include that bit at the end about 'do not less your losses make you hateful’? It seemed a little out of step with the rest of the speech.
LOKI
[serious, with strength and emotion]
I’m aware of a great deal of anti-Inhuman xenophobia in current discourse, which some of its proponents support by citing the Chitauri attack. Quite apart from the fact that that’s total bollocks, ehehe – the Chitauri have nothing whatsoever to do with any aspect of the existence of Inhumans – I know from bitter personal experience that lashing out at others in rage or grief, causing them pain, whether these others are connected to the source of one’s hurt or not, achieves nothing positive – only further pain – and has a mentally corrosive effect on the one lashing out. Furthermore, I can identify with the Inhuman side of the equation in some ways, so this issue is something of an emotional flashpoint for me. If preventing even one person from having to experience that kind of hurt will help to atone for the damage I caused, then I’ll do what I can.
[a beat, awkward silence – it’s pretty clear that none of the crowd expected THAT answer. After a moment of miscellaneous shuffling and staring-at-feet, REPORTER #4 coughs politely]
REPORTER #4
You alluded to having stabbed or killed an Agent Coulson at some point during the incident, but that very same agent has been noticeably active in recent times – how’s that possible?
LOKI, MACE AND COULSON
[cheerfully, in sync]
That’s classified!
REPORTER #1
You alluded to a 'complicated context’ for your actions. [Loki nods] Can you clarify that?
LOKI
[grimly]
Not without dissolving into a screaming wreck while being beset with horrible flashbacks, I’m afraid – I’ve not recovered *that* far. [humourless half-smile]
REPORTER #1
Are you a Frost Giant [Loki flinches as though struck with a half-brick in a sock] – what’s the word? – [with a hard J/G sound] Jo- Jot-
LOKI
[annoyed]
[correct pronunciation] Jotun? Thats not something I wish to disclose either way.
REPORTER #1
Is it relevant to your 'context’ and the condition you mentioned being in when you arrived on Earth?
LOKI
Relevant? [bitter laugh] To my having been afflicted with heat exhaustion? [shakes his head while making incoherent laugh/distress noises and sagging slightly against the podium. Thor rushes up, glares briefly at Reporter #1 and puts a supporting arm around Loki’s shoulders]
THOR
[sotto voce]
Are you all right, brother? Do you need to step away?
LOKI
[sotto voce]
I’ll be fine, just… [draws a shaky breath] Just give me a couple of seconds…
[Thor nods. Loki draws a few, slightly steadier, breaths and seems to collect himself. Thor gives him a quick side-hug and backs off a bit, but stays close by, looking wary]
LOKI
[slightly forced, 'pay no attention to my little breakdown’ cheerfulness]
Any less… invasive… questions?
REPORTER #5
What’s your opinion on the views that’ve been making the rounds recently, that you should have been allowed to conquer the planet in 2012, or that you should be allowed to rule the world, or at least the US, now?
LOKI
[genuinely cheerful]
Well, given the state of my mind in 2012, having me take over anything would have been a pretty dreadful idea! Now, though, if people really want my rule, and there’s a vacancy… [makes a shrug-ish gesture like the one in this picture – I don’t know how to describe it in words, sorry XD] …lead me to it! Ehehehe [grins]
[rumble of amusement from the crowd. A woman wearing a 'Yuri!!! On Ice’ T-shirt pipes up, looking mischievous]
BYSTANDER
Did you really have sex with a horse?
[the S.H.I.E.L.D. contingent get varying expressions of 'WTF?’ and 'Uh oh’, while Thor facepalms slightly – he knows this story – and Loki looks positively gleeful]
LOKI
[massive grin]
Nope! I made that one up to mess with a bard who was acting like the skaldic equivalent of a tabloid journalist. [nervous chuckles from the reporters] No, Sleipnir was a random mutation produced in the way horses normally come about – no shapeshifting involved. [chuckles to himself and looks even more mischievous] If you want amusing anecdotes about me and hoofed mammals, there’s always the Goat Incident— [Thor gets an 'OH CRAP’ expression and braces to leap] —which was reported in the Prose Edda, although Sturlusson took it waaay out of cont-mmppphhhhhhh! [Thor leaps on him, claps a hand over his mouth, wraps his other arm around Loki’s upper torso and forcibly drags him from the podium]
THOR
We do not speak of the Goat Incident!
[beat]
MACE
[approaches the podium]
End of conference… I guess?

To Honor Raven [Part 1]
Tumblr media
Brian raised his arms, wanting to capture as much heat from the fire in front of him as possible. He heard a deep voice call behind him.
"Cold, Sveinulf?"
He turned around, glaring over at the large, smiling Norn who appeared to be perfectly content in the freezing blizzard that howled outside the small cave.
"Are you kidding me?" Brian responded incredulously, suppressing his shivers as much as he could. "I can barely move, let alone feel a damn thing in my hands!"
The Norn, known to Brian as Valgar Blinderhogg, chuckled as he moved back inside to throw another log on the fire. Brian grimaced as the heat temporarily dimmed, and he leaned forward - trying to recover some of it.
"How long until we reach that shrine, Valgar?"
Moving his large coat from underneath him, Valgar sat down on a nearby rock as he responded,
"Ho! At this rate it would be three more days – I doubt this blizzard will let up anytime soon."
Brian groaned, longing for the comfy, warm lodge he had grown used to prior to the pilgrimage.
"What's the point in visiting all these shrines anyway?" He asked, his voice quivering from the chill.  "It's just boring statues – how does that help anyone?"
Valgar shook his head. "You misunderstand, Sveinulf. Our journey to honor Raven. In visiting Raven's shrines, we are able to gain wisdom from the shamen there. Raven rewards those who seek wisdom – so is the purpose of our journey."
Brian clicked his tongue in annoyance, unsatisfied with the answer. He wasn't sure why Valgar was so adamant to set out into the frosty wild for the chance to learn some strange fact from a stranger.
‘It's probably written in some tomb with those Priory folk, anyway.’
At least, that was what he had heard. He had only met a couple of people claiming to be part of the order, but it didn't take long for them to praise the inordinate amount of stories and knowledge they kept contained in their vaults.
"Why not just ask to go to that Priory place?" Brian suggested, "It sounded like they had lots of knowledge – surely that would please Raven, right? There's got to be lots of tomes and writings there."
‘And a fire.’
"Ho – the Durmond Priory contains a wealth of knowledge!" Valgar agreed, and Brian grew hopeful. "But knowledge is not the same as wisdom, Sveinulf. One can easily fill their head with the knowledge of books - however, without wisdom, they will not know how to use it."
Brian frowned, not quite understanding what Valgar meant as he glanced over to the Norn in confusion.
"You will see, Sveinulf," Valgar continued, a warm smile softening his face as he looked out again at the blizzard.
"When we reach this shrine, you will learn what it means to honor Raven."
