@alpine-incline-grapevine-beeline submitted: Sorry for the somewhat blurry photo (I didn't want to get too close 😅). I found this large spider in Minami-Ibaraki, Japan.
Love your blog so much!
Thank you! This woman is very large and I love her deeply. She's a Joro spider, which have made their way to the US as well :)
Im not obsessed with Spiderverse to the point I make a whole introduction and design for a spidersona (their name is "webbed gloop")

The Jorō spider (pictured, an individual in Kanagawa, Japan) has spread across Georgia and into the neighboring Carolinas, as well as parts of Tennessee and Oklahoma.
@watcherscrown submitted: I cannot overstate how eensy tiny these spidering are (finger for scale). I donated some feeder fruit flies as a snack and they did SUCH a good job. Mom is nearby watching over their feast.
(Bonus joro spiders from a florida trip. I know theyre invasive but they ARE gorgeous). I've seen so many fantastic bugs down here.
This is THE CUTEST. And also super impressive they're able to take down those enormous fruit flies when they're so dang tiny. Bet their mom is so proud of them :) Joro spiders may not be native but we can still admire them!
id: a gravid female joro spider in her web. it is raining, so her legs are covered in drops of water, and her front three pairs of legs are hanging limply while only the back pair is perched on the web. /end id
