Coconut Rice

Of course! A tasty and fragrant dish well-liked in many cuisines is coconut rice. This is a basic rice recipe made with coconut.
Ingredients for Coconut Rice:
1 cup long-grain white rice
1 3/4 cups coconut milk
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional: shredded coconut for garnish
Instructions for Coconut Rice:
1. Clean the rice:
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Rinsing the rice not only prevents it from becoming overly sticky but also aids in removing any excess starch.
2. Mix the ingredients:
Rinse the rice and add the coconut milk, water, coconut oil, sugar, and salt to a medium-sized saucepan.
3. Heat up to a boil:
Transfer the mixture to a boiling point by placing the saucepan over medium-high heat.
4. Reduce:
After bringing it to a boil, lower the heat to a simmer, place a tight-fitting lid on top, and let it cook for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the rice is soft and has soaked up most of the liquid.
5. Lightly fluff the rice:
Once the rice is cooked, remove the saucepan from heat and let it remain, covered, for an additional 5-10 minutes. Next, use a fork to separate the grains in the rice.
6. Serve:
Place the rice with coconut on a platter for serving. Shredded coconut can be used as a garnish to give it more taste and texture.
7. Have fun:
You can serve the coconut rice as an accompaniment to your preferred main entrée, such as grilled chicken, fish, or curries.
You can modify the sweetness, saltiness, or coconut flavor to suit your tastes. This recipe for coconut rice is adaptable and goes well with many other foods.

Fried Rice

Fried rice is a popular and flexible dish made by way of stir-frying pre-cooked rice with quite a few substances together with veggies, eggs, meat, and soy sauce. Originating from China, it has turned out to be a cherished dish in lots of Asian cuisines and beyond. Mix the whole thing well until the rice is flippantly lined with the seasonings. • Finishing Touch: Stir inside the cooked vegetables and eggs. Cook for a further 2-3 mins, stirring often, until the whole lot is heated. • Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions if desired and serve the scrumptious fried rice hot as a standalone meal or as a side dish. Title: African Food: Identical, yet Different (Work in Progress) (23/6/2022)
Today I took pictures of two main Nigerian dishes; puff puff (top) and Jollof rice w/plantain & chicken (middle and bottom).
In the top two photos, I created a photo of the pastry dish behind a colorful background with the restaurant name. In these photos I really wanted to showcase the puff puff, so I decided to lower my aparature in order to blur out the background. To further engage the audience into the photograph, I decided to take a shot of the puff puff which a bite mark, allowing the viewer to visualize what it would look like if they were to take a bite out of this tasty dish.
In the next four photos I was trying to create a photo of the meal from different angles, with each angle giving detail to a specific part of the dish. Not only did I attempt in creating an overhead shot, but I also had some shots from a worm eye view. By shooting it from a different eye level, it allows the viewer to explore different details of the dish that they wouldn't be able to see from an overhead shot.
