This amazing woman died shortly after the Academy FINALLY apologized to her for the hell they put her through.
Sacheen Littlefeather was an amazing actress, model, activist…most of her life was fighting for what was right. Im glad people are finally noticing her in a proper light and she knew it…but sad it took way too damn long.
John Wayne wanted to punch her on stage, taking the stand for Brando led to her being blacklisted. And she just kept on truckin

I think parts of me are still young, restless, relating to john on a level I was not able to comprehend for years. john taught me that I don't need fancy feelings or a sense of normalcy to be human. the point of the jwc series is… being human. being so painfully human it hurts, because being a human can bring pain - especially for people like john or like me, people who can't fit in, people who have a mister monster in their head and people who may not know their own differences.
john is for the people who relate to the cardboard box scene more than to any passage of text written by a human being.
he is for us, who we would rather call ourselves a monster than a human.

"The Celluloid Closet" essentially ascribes the death of the Hays Code to general audiences getting sick of it and I think that's neat, that even average joes back in the day went to see crossdressing and (other) illegal things onscreen and they liked it!!! A lot!!!!

I'm thinking all of a sudden about a really old guy who came in as a guest speaker to one of my journalism classes, with only 10 or so students in it. I forget what he was even there to speak about.
I think him and another student were exchanging pleasantries about movies. I remember this vibe of him and that student not getting each other's references, or not being on the same wavelength or something. It was "a little bit awkward" and the Awkward was slowly growing.
And he leaned towards the girl and said "Ya ever heard of John Wayne?" and she smiled awkwardly and said no. I knew he was a famous 50s movie star who did cowboy movies. I didn't want to say so because the man would then forcibly engage ME in conversation and probably go on and on about John Wayne instead of whatever he was actually there for.
I think I'm remembering this guy because of that twitter clip of John Wayne trying to get on stage to scream at or assault a Native American woman, and how this speaker guy would have nodded firmly in support of John Wayne and if he's alive right now he's probably going on about how Will Smith being banned from the Oscars is absolutely, truly, why gosh darn truly a good decision.

Pizza Delivery
T/M (recreational drug use, language) no upside down AU but still the 80s. Pizza, the Party, meet cute (re-meet cute?) Just a lotta cute.
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Part Four
Part Five ✨️complete✨️
Eddie didn’t love having to do this.
He’d much rather make his money the fun way, the illegal way, the way police Chief Hopper made very clear that the next time he was caught in the act a warning and weekends worth of community service wouldn’t be the only repercussions.
So Eddie was on a temporary drug dealing hiatus.
Reefer Rick was surprisingly understanding and still agreed to sell to Eddie for personal use in his trying time of need.
Wayne had thrown out numerous suggestions and all of them sucked. Epic proportions of suckage.
I mean Eddie ringing up groceries? Even in the scenario where he was hired it would be boring as fuck and he’d have to encounter the exact types of people that made his day to day existence in Hawkins less than ideal. He had some basic mechanic experience but the closest auto shop was owned by a man who genuinely thought Eddie ran a satanic cult.
He applied to a music shop outside of town and the local library, who now employed his former middle school teacher. She had let him down gently before he had a chance to turn in his paltry excuse of a résumé.
It was over a week and Eddie needed to be making some sort of income. Gas didn’t pay for itself, he and the guys used his van to go play shows, and he had stepped up to help Wayne with the utilities on his second go at Senior year so he wouldn’t feel like a failure and a freeloader.
He laid in front of the high-speed fan on Gareth’s bed holding his arms up to better cool him down and whined about his conundrum, “I’ve literally applied to multiple places Gare- not even the fucking hardware store would hire me!” Eddie complained as he flopped his arms back down.
“The owner said something about his daughter being a pot head because of me. ME?! Like sir, listen to yourself, I’m sure you contributed a hell of a lot more than I did in her wanting to smoke up to chill out.” Eddie made his point by sitting up and re-packing the glass bowl on Gareth’s bedside table.
“Are you even listening to me, man?” Eddie said as he exhaled a sloppy succession of smoke rings.
Gareth huffed out a laugh, “I mean, yeah? Blah blah blah, getting a job is hard, yadda yadda?”
Eddie snorted at him and handed over the bowl, “Fucking delinquent.” He muttered and smiled as Gareth laughed out his toke of weed.
Gareth snapped him fingers and set down the piece, “Jeff said his work needed more drivers!”
Eddie let his body slowly melt off the bed and laid down like a boneless corpse on Gareth’s bedroom rug, “Fucking pizza delivery?”
Jeff walked into the room with a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos and Sprite, “What’s wrong with pizza delivery, Edward?”
Eddie smooshed his face against the rug and breathed out a long winded, “Fuck…” As both his closest friends laughed at him.
Jeff slapped him on the back, “Dominic is desperate; besides you can be a little stoned at work, no one will know the difference.”
The metal head pushed himself up to a seated position and made grabby hands at Jeff to pass him the bowl. He lit up the remaining weed in place and watched it blaze for a moment before inhaling a deep full-bodied breath. He held it as Jeff and Gareth chattered about who the better drummer was John ‘Bonzo’ Bonham, Ginger Baker of Cream, or Phil Collins.
Eddie frankly did not care, “Fuck it.”
He stood up as the other boys watched, “Looks like I’m gonna go talk to Dominic.”
“Dude, I said you could be a little stoned you look zooted. Chill for a minute then go talk to him tonight. Like I said he’s fuckin’ desperate.” Jeff said as he relaxed into the pillows and munched away on the Doritos.
Eddie sunk down to the floor and rested his back against Gareth’s bed, “It’s Bonzo by the way, numbskulls, he’s definitely the gnarliest drummer. I mean come on- Led freaking Zeppelin.”
Gareth pushed his head as they devolved into a half-assed slap fight before Grant walked in and tossed on the newest cassette he had come across at a record store his older brother frequented. It was a debut band called Megadeth, the four of them vibed to the tunes of the album Killing is My Business…and Business is Good as they let the weed do it’s work.
Jeff had been right, Dominic was desperate for drivers and Eddie had a van and a half decent attitude so he agreed easily and put him on a shift that night.
Eddie knew the area well from living in Hawkins, but also better knowledge of side streets and some off the beaten path places due to his original entrepreneurial endeavors. He delivered to four houses and had his signature long hair shoved under a ‘Hawkins Hot Pies’ hat. It made him feel slightly less recognizable on the rounds, especially when he pulled up to a home in a nicer subdivision.
He returned to the restaurant to pick up a final round of deliveries, feeling accomplished with the tips he had gotten along the way- not nearly as lucrative as his dealing days, but not awful for a Saturday night.
It was easy, he could jam to his own music, take a toke or two en route- it wasn’t the worst available option. His last stop was a little further out in the town limits.
He pulled up the long drive to the more secluded home and rang the doorbell. It wasn’t the most well-lit porch but he caught the address and knew it was the right place, he could hear some excited yelling and the door beginning to unlock, “El, wait- I’m watching you girls tonight I’m gonna get the door, okay?” He heard a petulant fine drawn out before the door opened.
Steve ‘the Hair’ Harrington stood before him with glitter on his cheeks and a scrunchie holding back his usually voluminous hair in a Pebbles style ponytail atop his head.
Eddie almost choked.
He coughed out to cover his laugh, “Pizza delivery.” He said only a little dumbfounded as his wide dark eyes trailed over Harrington’s face, was that mascara he had on?
Two girls peeked around him, one with short hair and a red head he vaguely recognized as a new addition to the trailer park he and Wayne resided. The red head poked the glittery boy hard in the side. He swatted her hand away with an annoyed Ouch, Max- before stepping out to the porch and semi closing the door behind him.
“Uh, yeah, how much again?” He asked Eddie.
Eddie knew for certain this wasn’t Harrington’s place he had sold drugs at a handful of Harrington parties in Loch Nora. Rumors had swirled about him through Eddie’s time in Hawkins High and now? How the mighty had truly fallen. He looked hilarious. A traitorous part of Eddie’s brain supplied that he also looked kind of cute. All annoyed and less than expertly made-up wasn’t a bad look on the guy. Was that lip gloss too? Eddie willfully forced his line of sight back up to Harrington’s amber eyes.
It was just a large cheese pizza, “It’s gonna be seven-fifty.” Eddie said as Harrington dug in his back pocket for his wallet.
He pulled out a ten and handed it to Eddie, “Keep the change, man.” He said softly as one of the girls shrieked out a giggle.
Eddie smirked at him, “Ya got a little something...” He trailed off and pointed to his own cheek.
It was hard to tell in the dim summer evening but Eddie swore Harrington’s cheeks burnt a deeper pink at the comment. He held tight on the pizza box, “Oh, yeah, fucking babysitting. And y’know sometimes you just-“ He was cut off by the door being opened again.
“Jesus Steve, you’re the one who needs babysitting. Get back in here me and El are starving.” The red head lamented dramatically as Steve made a face at Eddie.
“Please don’t repeat…” He trailed off and gestured to his face.
Eddie burst out laughing, “Your secret’s safe with me King Steve.” He managed to say.
The red head narrowed her eyes at him, “Better do as he asks, I know where you live, dweeb.”
The short haired girl popped up behind her and gave him a stony faced look, “Steve looks pretty.” She said in a deadly tone.
Eddie straightened right up, kids were terrifying, “Yeah, yeah of course! You look like a princess, man. The prettiest. Enjoy the pizza!” Eddie said as he rushed off for self-preservation.
Steve ushered the girls back in the house feeling wrong-footed and embarrassed, “Here’s your pizza you fucking menaces.” He griped at them as they sat down at the table.
Max bit into a piece and twisted the line of gooey cheese around her pointer finger she studied Steve’s still lingering discomfort, “You do look pretty. Your lashes are super long. Thanks for letting me and El practice on you.”
Steve rolled his eyes but didn’t have it in him to stay mad, “Any time, well not really any time but, y’know it was actually kinda fun.”
Eddie was just getting ready to turn the ignition on his van when Hopper’s police Blazer pulled up the driveway next to him.
He knocked on the window for Eddie to roll it down, “I swear I’ve been super legit Hopper, like this is my first night! I’m working an honest job!” He started rambling off.
Hopper chuckled at the other man’s discomfort, “No need to freak out Munson, this is my home and I’d appreciate that stays on the down low.”
Eddie nodded his head, and let the thoughts swim around in his slightly stoned brain, did Hopper have a daughter?
“You got it Chief.” He said and saluted.
Hopper huffed out an exasperated noise, “Be good, kid.” He said as Eddie started up the van and headed back to the shop to clock out.
The drive back had the same image popping up in his mind, he wasn’t even that high, but Steve Harrington had definitely opened the door with make-up on and a scrunchie in his hair.
What a wild sight.
The girls had been right too, he had looked pretty.
Eddie had always loathed how attractive he found Harrington, but tonight? He wanted to lick the gloss from his lips. Super normal, Eddie thought to himself. He shook it off, he’d barely seen the guy around since he graduated. He could avoid him. Eddie was sure it wouldn’t be a problem now.
I'm going to continue this just some fun flirting/friendship/getting together vibes. I'll use the hashtag PizzaSteddie for this one if you wanna follow along. 🥰

@steddiemas Day 16: Angst-Themed (Saturday Sentence Starters)
wc: 1k | Rated: T | cw: Steve’s parents are arguing (he is overhearing it briefly but there are some descriptions of yelling), toxic family dynamics, unstable marriage, cheating
Tags: Steve Harrington Has Bad Parents, Angst with a Happy Ending, Unstable Marriage, Toxic Family Dynamics, Cheating
Tumblr media
“I don’t want to fight with you, Caroline,” Steve hears his father bellow from downstairs, “Not tonight.”
He snaps his comic closed and tosses it on the floor.
Steve has no idea what his parents are arguing about. Hell, they don’t even need an excuse these days, he thinks. Someone can so much as fart and it will start a goddamn screaming match.
He guesses he shouldn’t be surprised. It’s the holidays and his parents are both off work until the beginning of the New Year. It’s snowing heavy out so they can’t go down to the Martens’ house – their best friends-come-buffer zones.
“Oh, John!” his mother chides before there is a lower muffle that he can’t quite make out.
While being hard of hearing allows him not to hear anything below a shout, the broken argument is still frustrating.
His parents might not need an excuse to fight, but he’d still like to know what it’s about. Gain intel for the inevitable coming days of being stuck in the middle.
Steve has a few guesses as to what it could be.
His mother bought a new car with her Christmas bonus finally topping up her bank account and thus justifying an indulgent and expensive purchase. His father always hates that.
Steve smirks.
If his father didn’t like that kind of independence, why did he marry a high-paid lawyer?
But, the more likely scenario considering his father’s apparent insistence he ‘doesn’t want to fight’ is that he is cheating again.
Cindy, his secretary, or someone new – take your pick.
The telltale signs have been there for a month or two. A renewed cheery attitude, longer office hours, a fresh haircut and new clothes.
Actually, now that he thinks about it, it might be a little bit of a motivator behind his mother’s car purchase too –
“ – Cindy!” his mother shrieks.
Yep, there it is.
Steve rolls off the bed, planting his feet on the carpet right by his shoes.
“Fuck this,” he mutters, scooping up his keys and wallet from the nightstand.
He’s just about halfway to Forest Hills, driving at a snail’s pace because he can’t see for snow, when he begins to regret his decision to leave the house.
Maybe he shouldn’t just barge in on the Munsons unannounced. Like sure, his friendship with Eddie is… teetering on not being entirely platonic. But this might be too much.
He always thought it was too much when he’d walk down to stay at Carol Perkins’ house for an impromptu sleepover. And there was always this awkward, knowing going on with the Wheeler’s when he was dating Nancy and spending a lot of time just hanging about.
Lingering for too long in the kitchen chatting to Karen or watching a game with Ted until the guy started snoring too loud to hear the commentators.
It was all there but largely unspoken.
Only Robin knows the details. And even then, he’s sure that her father’s friendliness towards him was partly due to his daughter telling him all about the trouble at the ‘ol Harrington house. He doesn’t blame his best friend for likely doing so. And he doesn’t consider it blabbing, either. Robin’s parents – her whole family – are amazing.
But some of his parent’s shit is stupid at best, hard to take at worst.
And he is scared to let Eddie in on it.
It’s too much.
He’s too much.
Being a Harrington is too much.
Wayne answers the door with a cup of cocoa that seems glued to his left hand in winter.
“Steve,” he says, voice gruff as ever despite a warm smile.
“Hi,” he replies, looking down at his snow-covered boots, “Eddie in?”
Of course, he’s in, his van is parked outside.
Steve can feel the warmth from inside the trailer. See the twinkle of lights from the Munson’s small, but heavily-decorated, Christmas tree. The smell of cocoa overpowering the ever-present hint of cigarettes.
“Eddie!” Wayne calls over his shoulder, “Steve’s here.”
In a flash, Eddie runs to the front door and practically bumps into his uncle.
“Come in!” he insists, wide-eyed as he looks past his shoulder at the falling snow.
And before Steve can even step in, Eddie is pulling him by his parka sleeve. He only just manages to scrape off his boots on the ‘Home Sweet Home’ adorned welcome mat.
“What some cocoa?” Eddie offers, eliciting a grumble from Wayne.
“I asked if you wanted some,” he chides.
“But Steve might want some,” Eddie grins.
“How about I heat up a pot now, and whoever wants some’s got it?” Wayne suggests, pursing his lips at Eddie and moving to the stove before his nephew can make any more requests.
“Follow me,” Eddie says, grabbing his hand, “I made cookies.”
He wiggles his brows and begins leading Steve to the kitchen.
As he is pulled along, Steve tries not to think about the fact that they are holding hands. Or how he wishes his fifteen-minute-ago Self had thought to bring an overnight bag and allowed himself to assume the Munsons would allow him to stay the night.
But it might be even harder to stop himself from squeezing his friend’s hand and lacing his fingers with Eddie’s.
Eddie lets go of his hand to gesture to the tray of Christmas-themed shapes, all looking a little too dark for gingerbread as they rest on the kitchen island.
“Pick one, Big Boy,” Eddie beams.
Steve reaches for a reindeer, flexing his fingers as he goes and commits the feeling of Eddie’s rings to memory.
“No!” Eddie shrieks, lightly smacking his hand enough that he drops it, leaving the cookie to snap in half as it falls back onto the tray, “His antlers are broken.”
“Christ, boy!” Wayne curses, stirring the pot on the stovetop.
Okay, a tree then…
“The star is missing!”
A bell?
“That was already snapped in half when I got them out of the oven”, Eddie admits with a tight-lipped smile.
Steve places his hands on his hips and rolls his eyes. To him, they all look at least a little crumbly – some he would even describe as lightly charred.
“How about you pick one for me then, Betty Crocker?” he chuckles.
Eddie giggles, twirling a lock of his hair as he carefully considers the tray of mostly broken, dry cookies.
He watches Eddie for a long enough time that Wayne pushes a mug into his hand, the warmth of Eddie’s hand remaining in place due to the heat of the cocoa. It’s a Chicago Cubs mug, one that he finds himself holding at some point each time he is here as if Wayne considers it Steve’s own.
He smiles for the first time in three days.

Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
I'm on Fire Part 13: This Heart is Haunted
--------
John Gregson sent you a generous down payment for his commissioned painting, and most of it went right to the art store with you to by a roll of canvas, new paints, and brushes. Eddie went with you, and insisted on driving your car, but not before he had to adjust the driver’s seat all the way back so that he wasn’t eating his knees. He found a paint-by-numbers color pack of a dragon for Oliver, and crept up behind you, pretending to be someone else.
“Excuse me, miss? You are so fine,” he whispered in the sketchbook aisle. “Are you single, by chance?”
You checked to each side of you, feigning to look for him. “There’s this one guy I fuck from time to time, but it’s not serious.”
“Oh, is that right?” Eddie tickled your ribs, and then picked you up off your feet, munching down on the side of your neck with his teeth. “You better take it back.”
“You’re gonna get us kicked out,” you wiggled free with a laugh that seemed to echo off of the store walls, shoes squeaking on the linoleum.
Eddie wouldnt let you carry anything on the way out to the car, and you did not miss some of the feminism that left your body in that moment as he held one of the bags in his teeth. The canvas roll was almost too long for the back seat, and you had a moment of panic, but then Eddie figured it out, clapping for himself after and taking a small bow.
The big, scary biker with the tattooed hands and the War Machine insignia kindly reminded you to fasten your seat belt, just as he clicked on his own and slipped his sunglasses on.
“I don’t know, Munson,” you grinned into the sun as he backed out of the parking space. “You’ve been such a help today, there might be some roadhead on the menu.”
He slammed the brakes and snapped his head to look at you, his hair flying, making you get the giggles. “See, now you’ll have to forget I said anything. I want it to be a surprise.”
He continued backing out, checking over his shoulder. “Surprise roadhead could kill a man, baby. You gotta give me some warning.”
So far, it had been the most chill day since before you’d been fired. You were sinking into the routine of “normal” couples, doing mundane chores together, holding hands in public, being sickeningly, adoringly head over heels for each other. And it felt really good. So good, in fact, you could almost forget for a second about all of the shit that had gone wrong, and could possibly go wrong.
Much earlier that morning as you lay curled up naked next to him in bed with your leg over him and your head on his chest, listening to a song by Mother Love Bone pour out softly from the stereo in Eddie’s apartment, he asked what you were thinking.
You’d been quiet for a while, zoning out, touching your fingertips to his as he spread them out to meet yours across the menacing bat tattoo on his chest.
“It’s silly,” you mumbled, kissing his shoulder with the side of your mouth. The morning was warm with a soft breeze blowing one of the long, blue curtains out into the room, and above the sound of the music came the rumble of motorcycles rolling into the compound, and electric drill firing in the garage across the way.
“Still,” he rested his head on yours. “I want to hear it. I want to know what goes on in that quirky brain of yours.”
As comfortable as you were with Eddie at that point, you were shy about admitting some of your deep-seated insecurities.  What if you spoke them out loud and they came true? What if you started to let him know what went on in your “quirky”, anxiety riddled brain, and it scared him off?
You decided to take a chance, burying your face a bit more in the indentation of his armpit.  “In the past, whenever I've felt genuine happiness, or everything seemed to be going really well, that’s always when everything would go to shit.  So, I have this fear that—”
“---that you’re going to lose me?” Eddie interrupted softly, sliding his fingers down to intertwine with yours.
“Well, yeah,” you admitted.  “Exactly that.  Losing you, or something happening to Katie or Steve’s family.  Anyone I care about.”
“The same shit happens to me in my head,” he promised.  “It almost won’t let me enjoy whatever good thing is happening because I’m already thinking about how it could get fucked up. I’m always anticipating the next bad thing.”
“We are a sad pair,” you snorted a laugh.
“Hey, really though, listen to me,” he squeezed you tighter. “You’re not going to lose me, baby, fuck that.  As long as we tell each other what is going on and we don’t have any secrets, no one can fuck with us.  I won’t let anyone fuck with us.”
You propped up on your forearm to meet his eyes; they were bright brown and earnest.  You swept his bangs to the side with your fingertips. “Well, that’s good to know because I don’t think I’d survive this level of heartbreak.”
“I won’t ever break your heart,” Eddie searched your face, running his knuckle down your cheek.  “And if you break mine, I’ll probably sulk around for the rest of my life, just a shell of a man, playing songs on the street corner for loose change.”
You chuckled and scooted closer to kiss his mouth.  “What are the deal breakers for you in a relationship? Something you could never forgive?”
He squinted curiously at you.  “Are you trying to walk that line, sweetheart?”
“No,” you bit your lip through a smile, but then dropped your head back to the warm skin of his shoulder.  “My deal breaker is cheating. I can forgive a lot of things, but never that.”
Eddie took a big inhale, thinking about this, but then he swallowed hard. “Just the thought of another man touching you, past or present, makes me see red, baby.”
There was a tension in the air as Eddie considered the crushing weight of said betrayal, and you bit at a piece of skin on your thumb, thinking about the complex inner workings of Eddie Munson.
To break the heavy silence, you started crawling on top of him, kissing his neck, working your core against his stiff morning wood.  Eddie held your face and sucked at your bottom lip, running his tongue along the soft skin there, while you pressed the slick of your slit on his cock, arousal already evident.
“Would you really kill someone for me, baby?” You breathed, reminded of how he said he would kill or die for you.
“Without question,” he hissed at your wetness, reaching down to line the tip of his cock up with your entrance.
You sank down quickly, needing all of him with fluttering urgency.  “When I think of someone, I will let you know,” you hushed.  He cursed into your mouth and spanked your ass as you rode him, knowing that this was the only cock you would have inside of you for the rest of your life, and you felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
Back in the sunny parking lot outside of the art supply store, Eddie continued on behind the wheel, pausing for a group of people as they strolled into he store, hand on your leg, squeezing your knee as he waited. He angled the car down in front of a clothing store, on his way to exit onto the street, and had to wait for a couple more people to cross.
You weren’t paying attention, too absorbed at the time pawing through the bag of goodies in your lap, fingering the new pastels and linseed oil with glee. But Eddie’s fingers dug into your leg and gripped there in a way that made you glance over at him.
Waiting at the crosswalk, Eddie’s skin drained of color as he watched the people pass in front of the car. You followed his attention: there was an older woman, perhaps 50, two younger girls maybe ages 7 or 8, a pretty blonde girl around 30, and a woman who could have been a supermodel with long, auburn hair, a short denim skirt, and a dragon tattoo on her thigh.
Your attention rose to Eddie and his nostrils flared, blinking a few times, teeth grinding.
For whatever reason, the tension made you nervous. “Baby, what is it? What’s wrong? Do you know them?”
Eddie swallowed, patting your leg a few times, forcing a smile that did not reach his eyes. “It’s nothing sweetheart. I just remembered something I had to do later on, that’s all.”
Not even a full day had passed since you’d both agreed to never to keep anything from each other, and there he was, lying already. He knew that you could tell he was withholding something, which made it even worse. His hope at the time was, if he ignored it, maybe it would go away.
Somehow, Melanie coming into town had almost slipped his mind, until he saw her there with his very own eyes walking with Chrissy, her mom, and her twin daughters. She looked different, but also exactly the same. The difference was that he no longer found her attractive; she might as well of had rotting flesh rolling off her bones for how repulsed he was to see her there in the street. He wasn’t afraid to tell you, he just didn’t want it to be real, he wanted to ignore her until she left town, and you could live in the bliss of never being able to put a face to her.
First of all, Eddie was a horrible liar. It was not hard for you to put the pieces together and realize that he did know one of the women in that group, if not all of them. But, you took one last look at his profile, told him you loved him, and decided to let it go. For now.
----------
A few days earlier, after the incident with Inky, Steve rolled up to the house at dawn to find Robin waiting up at the kitchen table. She was having a cigarette with her coffee, and Robin never smoked. He watched her bite into her thumbnail, chew it off, and then spit it on the floor as he stepped into the room.
“What’s up?” Steve shut the sliding door behind him and locked it. “Where’s Oliver?”
Robin put her finger to her lips to ask him to ask him to keep it down. She saw how he was favoring his freshly bandaged hand, but chose not to ask questions. “Katie is asleep,” she flicked the end of her cig over the ashtray. “Oliver spent the night with Wayne.”
Cautiously, Steve clapped down into the seat across from her, wallet chain hitting first, motioning for her to slide the pack of bargain basement knockoff cigarettes over. He had his own lighter, but she shot the box of matches over to him as well. Striking the match to light his smoke, Steve bucked his chin at the manila envelope she had next to her. “What’s in there?”
Robin brushed her hair off of her face and hunched forward. “Oh it’s just a little something. Might cheer you up.”
She pushed the envelope toward him with the pads of her fingers, both sets of eyes on it as it traveled across the faux wood surface. Now Steve knew exactly what it was when he saw the label on the front but even then, he was riddled with confusion.
“How did you--?”
A part of Steve knew, even though there’s no way he could’ve had any idea where Robin went that night or what she’d said to Tina to get her to sign her rights to Oliver away. Or the gun she’d pointed loaded and proud, letting them know there were only two ways the night could end, and both involved her walking away with those signatures. The saddest part was how quickly Tina had agreed to take the money in exchange for Oliver; there hadn’t even been a glimmer of internal struggle. Robin told herself it was for the best though, and once Oliver was old enough to ask questions, he would never know about that night, or how quickly he’d been given up.
Now, they really were broke, even more than before, and without any safety net to fall back on. But, no one would ever show up and try to take their son away again without facing legal ramifications, and Robin might’ve also let her know that she wouldn’t hesitate to put a bullet in her throat if she ever tried to get sneaky. “If you take Oliver, Steve and I will have nothing to lose. You know what they say about not wanting to fuck with someone who has nothing to lose.”
Steve peeked inside, exhaling a long, hot breath. After sucking on his lip for a few seconds, he raised a skeptical eyebrow at her. “You’re telling me you got her to sign these and you got them notarized?”
“Katie,” Robin squinted and took another drag. The sleeve of her flannel fell down to expose the vine of an ivy tattoo on her forearm.
“She’s a notary? No shit?” he said the last part under his breath, chuckling a bit to himself.
Katie’s old job status as a notary public was a small detail that Robin had been fascinated to discover. Meeting up at a seedy motel in the middle of the night in her pajamas did not put Katie in a particularly compliant mood, but she offered her official services without too much of a fight. In fact, she had to admit later how much it had turned her on to find her girlfriend holding two people at gunpoint like that. It made her feel like she was in an episode of 21 Jump Street.
Steve rubbed one eye with the palm of his hand. The other hand, the one Astrid had cleaned and put a fresh bandage on for good measure, had just been used as a deadly weapon and pummeled a guy to the brink of death just the day before. He’d do it again in a heartbeat because no one threatened his family and got away with it. “Jesus, fuck, Rob. You know I love you, right?”
“Oh, you better,” she snorted a laugh, and then, softly,“I’d do anything for Ollie. And you. You know this,” and then she smashed the cigarette out in the ashtray. She couldn’t look him in the eye for fear the floodgates would open.
A sob hitched in his chest and he had to clear his throat. He really was on some real emotional bullshit lately and he made a fist with his good hand and banged it on the table, trying to collect himself. “Ditto.”
Robin got up and stretched her arms back with a yawn. “I’m going back to bed for an hour. You at the shop this afternoon?”
“Until late, yeah,” Steve couldn’t take his eyes off of the envelope. “I’m working on that chest piece for Thor.” Thor was one of the other Coffin Kings, a huge, beastly blonde dude with a long, braided beard.
Robin braced her hands on the back of the chair. “You thought anymore about going to Scott’s wedding this weekend?”
“Scott, you mean Daphne’s Scott?” Steve shook his head. “I haven’t thought about it at all, actually. There’s no way I’m going to that.”
Steve had only met Scott once at one of their barbecues, and Daphne knew Robin because her daughter and Oliver were the same age, but the last place Steve wanted to be stuck at was a wedding for two people he barely knew, or any wedding at all for that matter.
“You sure?” Robin craned her neck. “There’s going to be an open bar at the reception.”
“Nah, I got a thing on Saturday,” Steve waved his hand. “Take Katie, why don’t you?”
“I’ll think about it,” Robin worked her neck from side to side. “What do you have on Saturday?”
For some reason, a voice inside of Steve whispered that he should keep his plans vague. “Body guard gig,” he offered in a bored tone. He didn’t have to ask to know that Robin must’ve had to have paid off Tina somehow, and now they’d need some extra cash more than ever. What he wanted to do was change the subject. “Any word from Susie or Dustin?”
“Now that you mention it,” Robin scratched her cheek. “She’s due any day now and no, I haven’t heard a word. I should’ve checked in, I’ve just been out of my mind lately.”
“Dustin knows we’re in the thick of it,” Steve assured her. “We’re the first ones on the call list when she does go into labor, but I’ll give him a ring this afternoon to say hey.” He yawned, blinking his tired eyes a few times. “Should I take Ollie to the shop with me?”
“No, after Wayne drops him off, I got him,” Robin stole a curious look at Steve, knowing full well that there was something he wasn’t telling her. She was too exhausted in that moment to ask any questions as she turned to head down the hall. “Take a shower, dingus. You look like death warmed over.”
-----------
Wayne always kept his shotgun up high in a locked closet whenever the kid came to stay, but when he returned from dropping Ollie off with his parents, he stood there at the open closet looking around for a minute. He fingered through the flannels and old jackets, skidding the wire hangers along the wooden dowel, until he found the frayed denim edge he was looking for. He yanked back the line of clothes so he could pull the article of clothing out and take a look at it.
It was his original denim with the sleeves cut off, known as a cut, or Kutte, with the Coffin Kings MC insignia on the back. The matching insignia among club members were all “cut” from the same cloth. He held it up and wiped his hand down it a few times, as if to dust it off, looking over the worn and road weary patches, including the one with his nickname “Uncle” over the pocket, because he’d been an honorary uncle to so many, including Steve and Astrid.
He took it over to the mirror on the back wall of his bedroom, set the hanger on the chair and pulled the denim on over his white tee, adjusting the collar, working his shoulders through. Chemo had taken a lot of his size, and so it hung a bit loose, but the shoulder muscles were still there, and he flexed his hands, knowing they could still deftly maneuver a blade or a gun, just like the old days.
Sticking out of the side of the mirror was was a black and white photo that had been bent in half and wrinkled over time. A photo of a much younger Wayne, Astrid’s mother Evelyn with her jet black hair over her shoulder in a braid, and Steve and Eddie as little kids; not much older than Oliver. The boys wanted to be a part of the life so bad, even then, that Evie made them their own vests, complete with Munson and Harrington patches and the Coffin Kings skull on the back. Evie had her hand on Wayne’s chest in the photo, gazing up at him, and Wayne’s arm was around her shoulders, but his eyes were on Steve, his mouth open about to say something. Steve was making a face, his mouth in a grimace to expose two missing front teeth, both of his arms up, flexing to pretend he had muscles. Eddie was more stoic, his expression set without emotion as he stared into the camera, hands in fists at his sides, feet braced wide. Off to the side was young Astrid. She was a few years older than the boys, but still a baby. Wayne remembered she didn’t want to be in the photo, but Steve started acting out to get her to come over, and there she was, face slightly blurred as she tried to move away, but a smile on her face nonetheless.
Wayne met his eyes in the mirror; windows to a soul that was familiar but set in a face he no longer recognized. He thought about his panhead motorcycle collecting dust at the storage unit across town. He thought about how badly he wanted to protect Oliver from the horrors of this world, from the MC life. The boy liked to paint and draw and bake things, and Wayne didn’t understand that either, but he didn’t see the lust for danger in his eyes like he had with Steve and Eddie; Steve, especially. Like he wanted to turn the world on its head and dump it out to see how it worked. Maybe he had the love of a good mom for that, the kind of mom that stuck around. He thought about all of the things this disease had already taken from him, but it wouldn’t take this. He wouldn’t go down without a fight.
-----------
You’d stayed at Eddie’s for the past two nights in a row, and even though he would have you there with him every night if he had his way, you needed to set up your art room and take advantage of one of your afternoon off to work on John’s commission before you went back to the Hammer. You needed to stretch and frame the large canvas first, a meticulous process that took place in the garage, and then put up painters plastic around the art room so you wouldn’t flick paint around on the walls of the rental.
Eddie had brought you to work and picked you up the night before, and he took you home that next day in the tow truck so he could head to a job after. He popped in at the diner on the way to grab two coffee’s to go in tall white, Styrofoam cups. The older, married waitress there named Donna had a crush on both him and Wayne, and always gave him free stuff, for which they tipped handsomely. He came out of the diner holding the two cups up, wiggling his eyebrows at you.
“Things with Donna and I are getting serious, just so you know,” Eddie climbed up into the cab and passed your coffee to you, and then leaned over for a kiss once he was behind the wheel. “Black with two sugars for my lady.”
“Well, I don’t blame her one bit,” you clicked your tongue, leaning over to smell the fresh brew through the mouth opening in the lid and feel the steam on your skin, snuggling down into one of Eddie’s hooded sweatshirts. “Now I need to find an older, married boyfriend, and we’ll be even.”
What was meant to be a joke hit a little different because of the whole John Gregson situation, but Eddie snorted a chuckle as he put his cup in the holder on the dash. “You’re gonna turn me into a homicidal maniac if you’re not careful, sweetheart.”
As he got back on the main road toward your place, a glimmer caught your eye. The guitar pic on the ball chain hanging from the rear view mirror had always been there, but now there was a little, silver worry ring on the chain too, hanging flush with the red pick. It was the worry ring you usually wore on your thumb that you’d thought you had lost weeks ago. You reached up to take a better look and make sure.
“Baby, what is my ring doing here?”
Eddie took a wide turn, sucking his cheek, realizing he was properly caught red handed. “You left it on the nightstand that first time you came over,” he answered.
Your mouth fell open to goad him. “Why didn’t you tell me you found it?”
Eddie’s eyes found the ring in question where it swayed with the movement of he vehicle. “I don’t know, I think I meant to, but then I kinda liked having it in here with me. Whenever I look at it, I think about you. Something stupid like that.”
Your heart rushed, sending waves of heat through your veins. You were staring at his profile now, unable to look away, absolutely, wholly filled to the brim with love for this man.
“You really got it bad for me, don’t cha Munson?”
He offered a small nod and a shrug, tapping his thumb on the steering wheel to the beat of the music.
--------------
It was almost 9am by the time Eddie dropped you off at the duplex. Katie was already at the school, and your orange tabby cat Charlie was in a mood, so you sat on the couch with him for a bit while you finished your coffee. Although Charlie loved affection, he was normally such a chill dude, but that morning he didn’t want to leave your side even after you put his favorite gravy bits breakfast in his food dish. You had been gone for a couple nights in a row, but you always came by during the day to check on him, so it wasn’t as if he’ been abandoned. It was almost as if he was trying to tell you something.
You stroked his ears back and kissed the top of his head. “Tell me, my boy, what’s on your mind?” But he only meowed, nuzzling closer, massaging his claws into your leg.
You ate some granola and dropped your bag on the floor at the end of your bed without turning the light on, heading straight into the bathroom for a much needed shower. You let the water get as hot as you could handle it, noticing the bruises on your hips for the first time from the way Eddie man-handled you during sex. You smiled against the stream of water at the memory.
Charlie was sitting on the sink with his tail curled around his feet when you opened the shower curtain, staring you down. “Close your eyes,” you told the cat as you clutched in the air for the green bath towel that was hooked over the metal dowel.
At least, you thought it was hanging there, but now you were grabbing at air because it was on the floor. You wiped water from your eyes and snapped another look at Charlie before you bent down to pick it up. “Did you do this?”
You were mumbling to yourself, wrapping the towel around your body and stepped out onto the mat. You remembered closing the bathroom door, but now it was open and you imagined that Charlie had pushed it open with his brute strength. You paused to put some moisturizer on your face, and then turned to open the door the rest of the way and face the bed, and that was when you realized there was something terribly wrong.
The bed was made; everything neatly tucked, comforter folded back at an angle, as an invitation. Had it been that way before you went into the shower? You wouldn’t know because you hadn’t turned the light on to look. The pile of clean laundry you’d thrown on the messy bed just the day before were nowhere to be found. You weren’t freaking out yet, not when you knew that Katie went into turbo cleaning fits when she was stressed, and there had been a lot going on with Robin lately. But it wasn’t like her to come into your space while you were gone and mess with your things.
A fear began to bubble inside of you as you clutched the towel tighter around your body, senses heightened as you inched over to check down the hall and in the closet. You were starting to feel so afraid that your hands got cold as shock began to set in preemptively.
With trembling fingers, you took hold of the wood knob and pulled open the top drawer of your dresser, only to jump back, covering your mouth to try and trap the scream that erupted.
Your underwear and socks were neatly folded into color coded rows. You yanked out the drawer under that and the next, only to find the same symmetry of tediously folded clothing. The second drawer fell all the way out and crashed to the carpet. In a frenzy, you dove forward and started scooping all of the clothing out of the drawers, yanking them all to the floor, making them a mess, throwing them around the room, tears running hot down your cheeks. You didn’t stop until the bottom drawer was empty; the drawer that had a few pieces of lingerie and silky pajama sets, all of it had been sorted and folded in the exact same way.
You covered your nose and mouth with your hands and sat down on the bed, taking sharp inhales, adrenaline preparing you for some kind of fight, flight, or fawn: whichever would keep you from eminent danger. There was and ocean in your ears.
You did not do this.
Katie would not do this.
The only person in the world who would ever do this
was your maniacal, neat freak ex fiance Craig.
Now you could hear a footstep creak on the wood planks in the hall just outside your bedroom and from behind you on the bed, Charlie hissed.
------------
Eddie didn’t have to take the long way back by your street with the old Chrysler on the back of the tow, but he did anyway, just because he liked being in your vicinity. Much like the “old days” when he would ride by your work, back when he thought you wouldn’t give him the time of day.
As he turned onto the street, he could see the front of your duplex on the corner, but his smile faded when he saw the front door was open. Not open just a crack, but open all the way, exposing the interior or the house, and you didn’t have a screen door, so he wouldn’t imagine you’d leave it that way on purpose. What if your cat got loose? He took a sharper turn than he should have to line the truck and pull along the opposite side of the street to park it, doing his best not to crush your neighbors garbage can, all the while keeping his eyes on the entrance, thinking maybe you’d appear and there would be some explanation.
He paused before crossing the street as a guy in a hunter green utility vehicle inched its way to the stop sign. The driver stared Eddie down as he went at a crawl, and Eddie was taken aback to be aggressively eyeballed by a stranger, but he returned the heated glare, bucking his chin. “Fuck’s your problem, man?” Eddied shouted, shrugging his hands in the air. The guy gave an open mouth smile, and made a motion of dragging his fingers across his throat, just before he stomped on the gas and flew through the stop sign, taking a right. Normally, Eddie would’ve taken more notice of the details of the license plate and whatnot, but his attention quickly returned to your open door, taking long strides to the opposite sidewalk.
Eddie looked around before he stepped inside, hand on the hilt of his knife. “Baby? Are you in here?” He asked it softly so it wouldn’t scare you. “It’s Eddie. Your door is wide open.”
His ears followed the sound of things being tossed around, and something heavy hitting the ground with a wooden crack. But then you screamed and his heart tightened as he bolted down the hall.
“Baby?” He entered your bedroom to find all of your dressers drawers open, and two on the ground, clothes scattered everywhere. You jumped when you saw him, scrambling back with a shriek, clutching a towel to the front of your body so that you wouldn’t be exposed.
You were afraid of him, or whoever you thought he was. Cheeks wet with tears, eyes wild like a feral animal caught in a trap. You backed all the way to the wall with your hand out, palm up, before you realized who it was.
“Eddie?” Relief flooded through you, and you dropped the towel, stark naked, to run into his arms, a sob choking in your throat. The feel of his denim and cool of his belt bucket against your skin helped to soothe your nerves, taking a deep inhale of the woodsy spice scent of his aftershave.
Eddie’s mind was reeling as he held you tight; one hand cupped behind your neck and the other at your back rubbing in slow circles. “It’s me, baby. It’s just me.”
You blinked hard, wishing he’d never had to see you like this, wishing you’d never have to tell him about Craig and why you were so afraid of him. You had no proof that your ex had actually been in your house, but also---you had all the proof you needed. This kind of sick fuck head game was right up Craig’s alley. But how had he found you? How would you ever get rid of him now? You didn’t want Eddie to have to get involved with this mess. Sure, Eddie was tough, but Craig was certifiable, and you were well aware that there was nothing he wouldn’t do to keep you in his life.
You buried your face in Eddie’s chest and wrapped your arms as tight as possible, wishing you could both run away and disappear and not have to deal with any of this.
“Talk to me, baby,” Eddie said in a lower octave than normal, his blood boiling. “Who did this to you?”
-----------
That afternoon on Friday, Steve went to meet the woman he’d be doing security for the next day. He gave a low whistle as he rolled up to the main gates, “holy shit,” he mumbled, pinching a smoke between his lips, lighting it while his bike idled and he pushed the buzzer to announce himself. He combed his fingers through his hair as he rode in over a blood stain that was embedded in the cement, shooting a look to the 10 car garage, wondering what kind of beauties were in there and hoping he’d get to drive one.
“Be careful,” Astrid had warned a few nights ago when he stayed at her place. She shuffled her Tarot deck and did a quick reading for him. She tapped her finger on one of the cards. “I don’t like the look of this. I think someone with a dark heart has their evil eye on you.” Without looking up at him, she continued. “I need to do a protection spell before you go.”
“Does that protection spell include you riding my face?” Steve scooted his chair forward, lunging to kiss her temple, but she shrugged him off, trying to concentrate.
Her eyes were sweeping over the cards she’d just pulled for him with a tense bundle of lines between her thick, dark eyebrows. “I’m serious Steve. It’s someone with power who wants to own you, and I think the offer will be very tempting. Think Satan in a Sunday hat.”
She pulled two more cards. Her eyes flicked from Steve to the table several times. “Are you going to some kind of formal event this weekend?”
Steve winced. “Not if I can help it, why?”
This gift that Astrid had was much deeper than deciphering the magic in a deck; she had always been able to see beyond the veil of the known world. It was her gift that kept her lonely, and more often than not, she saw it as a curse.
She sat back in her seat to look the cards over again for an unnerving amount of time. Her intuition was foggy, and she couldn’t put her finger on exactly what would go wrong yet, but there were multiple threats on the horizon and her gut told her it was time to circle the wagons.
Steve’s tongue flicked out to lick the corner of his mouth. “Don’t leave me hangin’ here, darlin’. Do I get kidnapped by a bunch of circus clowns, or what?”
Her eyes locked onto his, letting him know she was serious. “Watch your back this weekend, Stevie.”
He took her hand. “Don’t I always, sweetheart?”
He thought about Astrid’s words as he wound the bike around to park at the front door, exhaling smoke as he flicked the cigarette to the side. He slid his sunglasses up on top of his head, taking in the expanse of the entryway, heavy boots plodding up the steps. At his wrist on a thin leather band was the tiny charm and gemstone Astrid had made him wear after she dowsed him in sage smoke and said a bunch of words he didn’t understand.
Charlene greeted him in nothing but the tiniest of bikinis, a straw sun hat, and a blue and red kimono, and Steve couldn’t help but adjust himself in his jeans at the way her breasts were almost spilling out of the tiny yellow top.
She offered him a drink out by the pool under one of the umbrellas, and Steve accepted a beer.
“I should thank you again for bailing me out,” Steve took a drink, glad that his eyes were hidden behind his sunglasses because he couldn’t’ take them off her heaving rack; the way the sweat trickled down her tan cleavage. A pool boy in tight, cut off jean shorts was cleaning debris from the surface of the crystal clear pool with a net at the end of a long handle.
“Anytime,” Charlene was so very charming when she wanted to be. “A friend of Eddie’s is a friend of mine.”
Steve took a generous gulp and put his forearms on the table. “Yeah? You know my buddy Eddie?”
Charlene flipped her blonde hair off of her shoulder. “Has he never mentioned me? We go way back.”
“Never,” Steve said without hesitation, making Charlene frown. “Not that I remember anyway. But Eddie and I don’t talk as much anymore. We’ve been too fucking busy.”
That seemed to lighten her expression, but the thought did occur to Steve to wonder how Eddie got word to her that he was in jail? He was pretty sure he didn’t even know about what happened until the next day. But, fuck it. Who cares how she found out? He just wanted to get this bodyguard gig over with and get his cash.
They agreed on a price for an evening of Steve’s services, and then Charlene led him inside to guide him up the big, lavish staircase to a guest bedroom where she had a gray and white suit waiting for him. She unzipped the black Armani sleeve it was in and Steve gulped. His mind immediately raced thinking about how much he could pawn it for on Sunday if she let him keep it.
“My cousin is getting married tomorrow,” she perched at the end of the floral bedspread, watching him pick the suit up to admire it. “I guessed at your size, but I can have a tailor meet us here before we leave if it needs fixing.”
Sure, Steve had been a bouncer forever, and had worked as an extra bodyguard a few times for visiting celebrities, but a personal bodyguard and escort for a woman like Charlene? Never. He wasn’t even sure why she needed protection for a wedding; looking down at the suit, he felt more like a gigolo than hired muscle.
“Nah, I’m sure it’s perfect,” and then he eyeballed the wedding photo on the vanity of a much younger Charlene with some other dude. “Where is your husband these days? Why can’t he take you?”
Charlene stretched back so that she was spread out on the bed, the nipple of one breast poking out from under the thin material. Her body was toned and supple and not at all what he expected a woman in her mid 40’s to look like. “My husband leaves town a lot for work. He doesn’t ask what I do, and I don’t ask what he does.”
“Fair enough,” Steve flicked his tongue over his gold tooth, watching the way she arched her back, exposing herself to him, making him palm his erection through his denim.
“For instance,” Charlene reached behind her neck to undo the tie for her bikini top, pulling it down, letting him see the expensive titties in all their glory. “He left yesterday and won’t be home until next week.”
So, of course Steve fucked her. He came between her tits and gave her a pearl necklace made of his cum, liking the way it dripped down her throat. He fucked her ass because she begged him to, using only spit for lube, her face pressed into the mattress, until she came, and then Steve milked a few more bursts of cum onto her backside with a grunt.
He liked getting paid and getting laid at the same time. He felt like he’d been waiting his whole life for a perfect situation like this to fall into his lap.
---------
Eddie paced at the doorway, flexing his hands into fists, “so this Craig fucker came here to what? Terrorize you? Try and get you back? I will put a bullet in his skull.”
You gave Eddie the cliff notes version of your relationship with Craig while you got dressed. How you thought he was fun and charming at first, but once you moved in with him, things got scary. He wouldn’t let you talk to your friends or go anywhere without him. When you first got the courage to leave, he broke into the house you were staying at in the middle of the night and put a knife to your throat. He’d been honorably discharged from the military and used his connections in the police force to bypass the protection order you filed on him. He was emotionally and physically abusive and stalked you for two years before you were able to make it to Hawkins without much more than the clothes on your back, and Eddie was reeling with how bad he wanted to get his hands on this guy. It made him want to start going up and down every street looking for him, which was not totally out of the question.
He had to go outside on the back patio for a smoke and you followed him. You sat down in one of the camp chairs on the concrete slab facing a patch of lawn that was maintained by the owner of the duplex, but Eddie stayed on his feet. You watched the muscles in his jaw flex as he frowned into his cigarette, his thoughts going to dark and dangerous places.
From what you told him about what the guy looked like and the description of his car, that was the dude who had stared Eddie down earlier. He didn’t want to alarm you anymore than you already were by telling you that he saw him, that the fucker had probably been in your house while you were taking a shower. He couldn’t have you staying at the duplex anymore until he could make sure that creep was long gone, and by long gone, he meant he was ready to put him in the dirt. If anyone could find him, Eddie could. He had family of the Kings who worked at police dispatch, and he had eyes all over town, from other tow truck drivers to every member of several MC’s. If this guy thought he was so sneaky, Eddie could do him one better.
Eddie was in a bad mood, cracking his knuckles, thinking about how much he would enjoy hurting this guy, when he heard a sniffle and realized you were crying.
“Hey, hey,” he snubbed the cigarette out in the ashtray Katie had there for the smoking she did when she was buzzed, and got down on his knees in front of you. He wiped a single tear off your cheek with his thumb, holding your jaw with gentle force so you would look at him. “This guy, he’s not gonna get near you again, alright? You’re gonna stay with me until I know you’re safe.” He cupped his hand around your neck and pulled your forehead to his. “Hey, I love you. You trust me when I say I’ll protect you, right?”
“It’s not that,” your eyes went to the Munson’s Garage patch on the front of his light blue work shirt. You kept your forehead pressed to his because you couldn’t look him in the eye. “Craig is dangerous, baby. I mean, he’s really crazy. I don’t want you getting hurt or---”
Eddie sat back on his heels, tilting his head to meet you eyes. “And you don’t think I’m crazy? Baby. I know you get the fluffy side of Eddie but I can do dangerous and crazy with the best of them. Okay? That’s all I’ve ever done. No one is going to fuck with my girl.”
His chocolate eyes searched you, needing to know that you believed you were safe.
You gnawed at your lip, eyes dewy and bloodshot. “I just wish this wasn’t happening,” you dropped your head again, mouth jerking down with impending sobs. “I wish we could run away.”
“Sorry baby but, fuck that,” Eddie stood. “You had to run from this guy once, he’s not gonna get the satisfaction of scaring you off this time. You’ve got me now.”
He squatted again, motioning for you to give him your hand and then he held it tight, brushing your knuckles with his thumb. “And Steve and Robin and Wayne, and the whole Coffin Kings MC, baby. I want you to trust me. This fucker will be sorry he ever stepped foot in Hawkins.”
You slotted your hands on either side of his neck at his jawline, pulling him in, and the salt of your tears mingled in the kiss, your mouth opening wide to take him deeper. Unexpected moans of desperation escaped both of you, hands greedy for purchase on each other’s parts. You made it back inside the house just in time for Eddie to dive his hand down the waistband of your shorts.
“You’re mine,” he breathed, fucking two fingers up inside you, stifling your cry of pleasure with his mouth.
You scrambled to undo his jeans, pushing them down his hips. “I need you so bad, baby. Fuck me.”
There was no time to make it to the bedroom, you broke the kiss only long enough to bend over the kitchen island, shorts down, arching your ass up. Eddie swiped his cock along your glistening core only once before burying it inside of you groaning at the sensation. “Holy fuck, I love you,” Eddie murmured, proceeding to fuck his entire length inside, pulling your slit apart with his thumbs so that he could watch himself enter you.
You bucked back against him, meeting his urgency, biting your lip through hungry whimpers. Eddie shoveled his hand around the front of your throat and pulled you back, choking you with soft pressure while he other hand braced at your hip and he fucked you hard. He preferred to look at you when he was about to cum, but the two of you were frantic, and he was already close. Clinging to the counter, the wet slapping sounds of Eddie stretching you out were about to throw you over the edge. His hand moved from your throat to your mouth, dipping inside for you to suck them.
Eddie’s hips locked onto you as he came, and the sensation made your walls flutter, gripping him in a way that extended his orgasm, cursing, both of you crying out, able to forget about the worries of the world if only for those precious moments as you rode the high.

At a decent chain Motel by a truck stop near the highway, Craig Ludlow paid for a week in advance and sat in the dark puffing a cigar by the window with the curtain tightly closed. An episode of The Twilight Zone was on the TV, and it was the only light but for the golden glow from the bathroom in the hall. On the table next to him was a razor blade on a mirror with white powder residue, a shot glass empty of its Jim Beam, and a handgun.
There had been an ugly landscape painting on the opposite wall, but he took it down to make room for his work. There was a big cork board there now, a place for all of the information he had on you and your little biker friends. Steve’s mugshot was up there, along with one of Eddie from 10 years earlier. Information on Wayne, Katie, the Velvet Hammer, every person or place you’d touched since you’d been to town. Somehow you’d slipped through his fingertips, and oh god, how he had missed you. Being a part of your life and knowing what you were up to was a part of who he was now, and he’d been feeling lost without it.
He planned use his connections to get in with Chief Hopper and make sure your new biker boyfriend had the law down his throat around every turn. Why was it so much to ask for you to let him love you? Your house was a mess, your bed not even made. Nothing in your drawers had been folded. It was obvious that you needed him and missed him and just didn’t know how to ask. You had always been such a prideful, silly goose.
A girl named Shari was working the night shift at the motel when she noticed, not for the first time, how odd the guy who checked into room 11 was. Shari happened to be the old lady of a Coffin Kings member named Jester, and she would tell him all about it, including the make and color of the SUV he drove, over the phone when he called to check up on her that evening. Coincidentally, War Machine had just let everyone know to keep an eye out for a creep of the same description who was stalking his girl. Jester headed over to make sure Shari was okay and waited in the shadows near the truck stop on his chopper, watching the lights from the TV flicker in room 11, keeping an eye on this guy so he could follow if he took off. Keeping him in his crosshairs to see if he should take care of this guy himself before he passed the word on to Eddie.

Danny is Bruce Wayne's bio son, who was given up early to protect him from villains.
When Danny found out (shortly after becoming a halfa), he felt so abandoned, he decided not to contact the Waynes.
Fast forward years later, the JL and JLD are losing to a powerful ghost/demon/bad guy. Constantine gets the idea to summon the Ghost King.
Wish You Were There
There was something wrong in this picture.
Yes, the pesky demon had been subdued rather quickly after the Ghost King had agreed to help out with their newest upstart, but now the powerful entity was locked in a standoff with their good ol’ spook and neither Batman or the King had seen it fit to look away from each other.
John was not stupid. He knew that the air hadn’t been freezing minutes ago. The Ghost King must have one hell of a grudge to let his power leak this blatantly.
Oh, sod it. He was too curious for his own good.
“So…” the magician drawled, after he finished taking in a drag of his cigarette. “Do you lads know each other?”
“No,” the Ghost King denied.
“Yes,” Batman affirmed.
The ectoplasmic entity hissed instantly, glaring holes into the white slits of the batsuit. The being’s entire form seemed to glitch out of existence for a second, before reasserting itself while shrouding himself in bursts of static.
“You have some nerve, acknowledging me now after giving me up immediately after my birth!”
John's cigarette fell to the ground.
“Bats… You must be pulling my leg,” he muttered.
The cold-hearted son of a bitch didn’t even deign to look at him. His whole attention was not straying from his so-called son. The fucking Ghost King of the Infinite Realms.
Oh, bollocks. This was going to come back to bite them in their collective arses, right?
“I couldn’t raise you while I was being attacked daily by assassins and supervillains. My own home was a target and I couldn’t possibly risk having you inside the manor while I was busy with something else in the city,” Batman said.
“Oh, sure!” the Ghost King said. “Is that what you tell yourself when you bother to think about it? That it was a matter of keeping me safe? What about all your Robins? What’s stopping you from having other children around when you didn’t want me to besmirch your ancestral home?”
Batman twitched, as if to restrain himself from making any movement.
“Things had changed by then,” he said stiffly.
The Ghost King laughed bitterly.
“But not enough to retrieve me? I can’t believe you.”
Batman stood still; a statue. His mouth moved and then shut itself in a line.
The Ghost King shook his head, his own face twisting.
“Well, this was a heart-warming family reunion. Good to know you’re still fighting the good fight, Dad-”
“How is it, that you are dead?” Batman asked, finally thawing enough to move and actually do something. The idiot made to grasp at the younger man and John sucked in a breath in surprise when he saw that he succeeded in having a hold on his arm. “The Fenton’s were a good family. Nothing came up when I did background checks on them. You should have been safe. Protected. And away from anything remotely supernatural.”
The Ghost King looked at Bats. At the way his hand had connected with his own. The physical contact seemed to throw him off for a second, but he recovered quickly. He shook Batman’s arm off and drifted away with flashing eyes.
“I sure hope that your definition of normal is not skewed, old man. Because, news flash! The Fenton’s were anything, but normal.”
“What happened?” Batman pressed.
A beat. Then, the Ghost King smirked.
“How about… You do some research on that, since you failed so badly the first time? I’m done with whatever this is.”
The bloody cunt vanished into thin air, leaving them both breathing into the chilled air.
It was mildly disappointing.
Huffing, John kicked the butt of his cigarette that laid on the ground, just waiting for Bats to fall into his predictable pattern and threaten him.
“Not a word of this interaction to anyone, Constantine,” Batman said. The sad sod had not moved from the spot where his son had left him at, except to throw him a glare over his shoulder.
“You mean, not a word about how you abandoned your son, and he died and claimed the throne to the entire realm of the Undead while you thought you were protecting him?” John asked, sarcasm loosening his tongue. “Sure! Not a word about it to anyone. I’m not going to think about this, ever.”
Batman grunted, already dismissing him, and stormed away to do whatever a Bat does to brood.
John sighed and looked at the sky.
“Well, at least he was not mine.”

being loved by eddie munson was a great honor. he treated yn like the princess she knew she had always been! yn didn’t exactly have a good track record when it came to dating. all the guys she’s ever been with had broken her heart.
she wanted—needed—someone different! for a little while she just stopped searching. she thought, im still young! she had plenty of time to find someone to love her unconditionally. thats when she met eddie munson!
it had been her twentieth birthday. she invited many people to come and attend, not really caring who showed up. she just ended things with her boyfriend after finding out he cheated on her and all she wanted to do was crawl in a hole forever. her mother convinced her to keep her original plan and try and forget about john. she took her advice and faked smiles and laughter all night. yn tried to have a good time, ultimately she was just tired and wanted to go home. she managed to sneak out of the building her party was being held and got some fresh air. that’s where she saw eddie.
eddie was too old for this scene. he didn’t want to come to begin with, but dustin kept going on and on about how his girlfriend, suzie loved this yn girl and wanted to get her autograph for her birthday coming up. he didn’t want to go alone and knew steve wouldn’t be able to get in without some kind of connection. eddie agreed to take him, get the autograph, and get the fuck out of there. eddie ended up getting stuck there when people noticed him. it was a good thing he also got steve to come along! dustin got his autograph, and steve ended up taking the brat home while eddie signed a few autographs of his own.
now he was outside enjoying a cigarette away from the noise and the few fans in the front of the building outside. when he spots yn, he gives her a small smile. she returns it, at least attempt to.
“not enjoying your party, sweetheart?”
she shakes her head and looks down.
“let me guess, heartbroken, huh?”
she turns to look at him surprised. “how’d you know?”
eddie chuckles “im an old man, i know what the face of heartbreak when i see it.”
this time, for the first time of the night, she genuinely laughs.
“who’s ass are we kicking?”
yn snorts. “his name is john. first guy i said i love you to.” and first guy she’s ever had sex with. but eddie didn’t need to know that.
“mind telling me what happened there?”
she shrugs her shoulders as he pats a space for her to sit. she walks over to eddie and sits right beside him as he continues to smoke his cigarette.
“he cheated on me with the girl he told me not to worry about.”
“dickhead!”
she hums.
“i know im still young. i have my whole life ahead of me, you know? but i always wanted to have a family early on in life. get married, have kids, live normal suburban lifestyle. it sounds crazy, i know—”
“i don’t think that’s crazy! you’re financially stable and from what i hear smart as shit and talented. i think as long as you got all the means to start a family, why wait?”
yn looks at him and smiles. “my mama and papa met each other when they were fifteen and got married when they turned eighteen. had five kids and stopped for awhile until they had me. they’ve been together ever since. their love is what i want. something pure and beautiful.”
“i feel that. i didn’t have that kind of life growing up! just had my uncle wayne. that old geezer kept his dating life private for awhile. i didn’t think the man dated. turns out he had been seeing this woman for about eight years before introducing me to her. even asked my permission to marry her. wanted my approval and everything. i told the old man it was about damn time!” eddie shakes his head at his uncle.
“he sounds like he really valued you.”
“he’s my dad! i value him just as much. took me in when i needed someone.”
yn didn’t understand, and neither did eddie, but the two opened up to each other all night. it felt great to talk to someone. they ended up exchanging numbers and texting from then on.
Tumblr media
a year goes by, they haven’t ran into each other anymore after that. yn invites him to her twenty-first birthday. when he turns up her heart skipped a beat. he was even more beautiful than she remembered. yn and eddie ended up sneaking off again and talking.
eddie couldn’t take his eyes off of her every time she spoke. something about this girl was mesmerizing to him. eddie wasn’t the type to date anyone younger than him, especially not over ten years! but this girl, she was fucking breathtaking. she was smart, beautiful, kind, just the most intelligent woman he’s ever known. yn noticed him staring and blushed.
“am i rambling too much? sometimes i don’t know when to shut up.” she states.
“naw, you’re perfect.”
yn gives him a smile. she loves how honest is. yn wasn’t the type to go after older men either. she stayed in her age range. eddie just does something to her she’s never felt before.
“i wanna kiss you, yn. may i kiss you?”
yn heart starts beating out of her chest. she couldn’t believe that he wanted to kiss her! she thought he just wanted to keep things platonic given the age gap. she slowly nods her head as he gently caresses her cheek and puts his lips against hers. the kiss was the most magical one either of them had. yn felt like her body was on fire. eddie felt like he was on cloud nine. they continued to kiss before eddie pulls away for air and rest his forehead against hers.
“may i take you out? next friday at eight if you’re not busy?”
yn thought about her schedule before humming in advance once she realized she was free. eddie kisses her once more before getting up. when he left the party was already dying down. yn got into her own car, leaving the everyone else to continue to party. she had enjoyed herself already.
when friday night came she was a nervous reck! she had a closet full of clothes and claimed to have nothing to wear. her sisters had come over and tried to help calm her down.
“why are you so jittery for? even in the past you’ve never felt this nervous for a date.” briella states.
“and when are you gonna tell us who this mystery guy is? even mom doesn’t know and you tell her everything!” kimberly adds as she looks through yn closet. she was the second youngest sibling, she most likely looking through to steal something of hers.
yn plops down on the bed as she sighs. “he’s—i don’t wanna jinx it but, he’s an amazing guy! cute and funny. he’s a musician as well. has his own band. we’ve been texting for about a year and i just—i don’t know but my heart putters whenever i get a text from him or when he calls me. god, he’s so sweet. just last night he sent me flowers! i never felt this way before. not even with john. it’s crazy, i know, but im already falling for him and i can see a future with him.”
all three of yn sisters look at one another and smirks. they’ve never seen her talk about anyone like that before.
“you’re totally smitten! wait until the boys hear about this.” jasmin smiles.
“do not tell seth or andy about this! they’ll never let me leave the house again.” yn groans at the thought of her brothers being over protective of her. she’s the baby after all! all her siblings had a soft spot for her due to their parents having her when they were already pre-teens and teenagers.
“get up, come on! this outfit would look amazing on you. i think you should wear this. you’d look wonderful.” yn looks herself in the mirror and smiles.
“may you do my makeup bri?”
“you know i will! now let’s get you ready for this date before mom and dad come home and scare the poor kid to death.”
once yn was ready, her sisters kissed her goodbye before she waits patiently for eddie to come pick her up. she was home alone tonight. her parents out at some award show to promote her dads upcoming movie. when she heard the doorbell ring she got up, sighing before opening the door. eddie looked amazing. he was wearing a black metallica t-shirt, black jeans, a chain hanging on down them, with his signature blue jean jacket.
yn had on a red dress that goes down to her knees. eddie thought she looked wonderful.
“you’re so beautiful.”
yn smiles. eddie hands her flowers. she takes them as she stands on the tip of her toes and kisses his cheek.
“you didn’t have to get me more.”
eddie shrugs. “i like giving the prettiest girl the prettiest flowers.” yn laughs. she gently closes the door as eddie takes her hand and leads her to his car.
“where are we headed?”
eddie smirks. “surprise, baby.”
hearing him call her baby made her heart flutter more than it already was. once they got to their destination yn was surprised to see that the place was empty. normally this particular restaurant was packed, filled with many celebrities or politicians. it was very hard to get a reservation. unless you’re eddie munson from corroded coffin.
“how’d you shut this place down?”
“i have my ways. come on.” eddie grabs her hand and walks into the restaurant. they greet eddie before eddie hears a familiar voice.
“hi, meathead!”
eddie rolls his eyes playfully. “hey, red! thanks for doing this by the way. i owe you one.”
“technically you owe me over a ten grand, but since you’re basically my dad, ill give you a pass,” max states.
“max, this is yn. yn, this is max. i remember how you said loved max cooking and always wanted to meet her. thought, i know her, might as well take you to go see red!”
“i can’t believe you know max! hi, i love your food! my mom and dad buys from you almost every time we don’t feel like cooking. i even got all your cookbooks! im a huge fan!”
“thanks, means a lot! but i wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for meatball here. he encouraged me to pursue my dream of opening my own restaurant.”
yn looks at eddie for clarification and he smirks at her. “she’s the best damn cook from hawkins! even at the age on fourteen! she deserved to have her own restaurant.”
“now i have them all over the world thanks to mom and dad.” max states, referring to steve and eddie.
“what’s on the menu tonight red?!”
max goes to seat yn and eddie. she tells them about the dishes she’s been trying out for the last few weeks. the two try many dishes as they sipped wine and talked about everything. they got along so well and the food was amazing. once the night ended, eddie took her home, walked her to her front door, and kissed her goodnight. it was one of the best nights either of them had.
the two kept seeing each other. yn still keeping him a secret. she knew her family would freak out about the age difference. but she was falling head over heels for eddie and didn’t want anything or anyone to mess it up. she wanted to enjoy as much time as she could before spilling the beans to her family.
Tumblr media
after six months of late night talking and many many dates, things began getting more intimate between the two. they went from small little make out sessions to heavy petting. yn was ready for that step, she was completely ready for eddie to take it to the next level.
eddie was beyond ready! he was only just a man after all. and the woman that he was seeing was beautiful, inside and out. eddie wanted to worship her body until the sunrises. he just didn’t wanna rush her into anything. he now knew that she had only had one partner in her life, her ex boyfriend john.
eddie didn’t want to pressure her into having a sexual relationship. “baby?” eddie hums as yn grinds against him while they kiss one another heavily and passionately in his bedroom.
“hmm?”
“maybe we should stop?” eddie states as yn sighs and gets off of him. she pouts a little before getting out of bed.
eddie frowns as he watches her pace in his bedroom.
“do you not find me sexually appealing?”
eddie frowns. “what?”
“eddie, we’ve been seeing each other for half a year now and all we’ve ever done was make out. which is amazing! i love kissing you. but when things get a little bit more, intimate you push me away. so what is it? am i not attractive enough? is it the age gap? what’s going on?”
eddie stands and gently grabs her hands. “baby, no! god, no! i think you’re the sexiest woman ever. i just—i don’t wanna rush you into doing anything, you know? im not trynna be like your ex boyfriend and force you into a sexual relationship. i want my girl to feel good and loved and special like she is. i don’t wanna be a shitty ass boyfriend, is all.”
yn smiles.
eddie looks at her confused.
“what?”
“you called yourself my boyfriend.”
they never really discussed that. eddie was older than yn. he felt childish asking her to be his girlfriend. he just knew her as such and that’s that! he didn’t feel the need to ask. maybe he should have though considering her age.
“yeah, i just assumed—”
yn cuts him off by kissing him passionately. “okay, boyfriend! im glad you told me how you feel. thank you for being considerate of my emotions. but eddie, if i wasn’t ready i would have stopped you at any point. yes, john was an asshole who peer pressured me into sleeping with him when i wasn’t ready, but i know you’re not like that, eds! so please, for the sake of my sexual frustration, make love to me!”
eddie smirks. he begins kissing yn passionately. he gently lies her on the bed and kisses her neck. eddie was too goddamn old to be giving hickeys. but he wanted to mark his girl up, let the world know that she was his. yn moans softly. eddie smirks as he lifts up and takes his shirt off before grinding against his girl.
yn had only had one partner in her life. and normally john would get himself off and leave her a horny, frustrated mess! she had to get herself off each and every time.
with eddie, he made sure the women he’d been with came at least once before cumming himself. never leaving a woman unsatisfied.
“my poor baby’s been feeling neglected, huh? im sorry.” eddie whispers in her ear. he tugs on her shirt before she lifts up and he pulls it off and throws it across the room somewhere.
eddie starts to kiss her chest. she was still wearing a bra. he unclasp it before groaning. yn nipples already harden.
“fuck, you’re so fucking sexy baby. can’t wait to claim your body.”
yn didn’t know words could be such a turn on. she was basically soaked underneath her clothed pussy.
“please, eddie!”
eddie smirks as he takes her right nipple into his mouth while he plays with the left and visa versa. eddie unbuttons her jeans and gently yanks them off.
“no panties? wanted me that bad, huh?”
yn nods as eddie chuckles. he gets off the bed, pushing her body on the edge, and gently rubs his fingers between her cunt.
“fuck! already wet for me, huh? what does my pretty princess need, huh?”
“just—touch it eddie.” eddie could tell she was shy. but he wasn’t having it! he wanted her to be vocal, let him know what pleases her so he can make her cum over and over again.
“gotta tell me what you want baby, else i can’t help you.” eddie states cockily.
“want—please need your mouth.” she whispers. eddie barely heard what she said.
“my what, baby?”
“want your mouth, eds! please?!”
eddie blows against her cunt before he gently licks between her legs once. he smirks as she wines before he devours her, as if he was a starved man.
yn grabs ahold of his hair. eddie hums against her clit and she nearly cums right then and there. no one has ever eaten her out before. this was very new to her and she didn’t understand why she’d never asked before. it felt so fucking amazing.
maybe it was just eddie! she didn’t know but she felt like she was floating. eddie continued to eat her out. he could tell she was close by how tightly she started gripping his hair. when she finally came, eddie smirks as he lifts himself up and kisses her passionately.
“you okay, baby? need a break?”
she shakes her head before grabbing him and kissing him once more. “please, fuck me?!”
eddie groans. he felt like a teenager again with the way he rushed to rid his pants and boxers. yn looks down and smirks. eddie was a good size. he was very thick and long! she was almost scared.
“see something you like, baby?”
yn hums. “want you inside me already, eds!”
“anything for me girl.” eddie gently taps his cock against her clit. she hums before he slowly pushes inside of her. they both groan.
eddie was stretching her in ways she’d never been stretched before. eddie stills, letting his girlfriend adjust to his size before she taps him on the back and he begins fucking her deeply.
“holy, fuck! pussy feels so good baby. gripping me tightly, yeah?” he moans out.
yn hands roam eddie’s body. she felt like she could feel him in her guts, rearranging her insides. it felt like nothing she had ever felt before. “fuck, eds! please?”
“what do you want, huh? what does my pretty girl need, huh?”
“harder, please?” eddie grunts before giving his girl exactly what she needed. her pussy was gripping him tightly, so fucking tightly he could cum.
“shit! this pussy feels so good, baby! best ive ever had, swear!” eddie said honestly. this made yn moan even louder.
eddie kisses her passionately and sloppily. yn was so close she could feel it in the tip of her toes.
eddie rubs his fingers against her clit. “gonna cum for me baby? show me how fucking good im making you feel?”
“mhm! so close ed. please don’t stop.”
“trust me babe, won’t stop until you cum all over my cock, yeah?”
a few more thrust later yn came with a load moan. eddie was close behind. “where you want it babe?”
“on the pill, need it inside, please?”
eddie grunts at that before spilling his seed inside of her. the two ride out their high before eddie collapsed against her.
“fuck! that was amazing, love.”
yn hums in agreement. eddie lifts up a little, gently grabs her face, and kisses her passionately.
“i love you, yn.”
it was the first time he uttered the words. yn heart began to beat uncontrollably. “i love you too, eddie.” the couple falls asleep cuddled up to one another.
Tumblr media
two months later yn had meet eddies son. he was a four year old adorable little thing and she instantly fell in love with him.
her heart continued to break when eddie told her the story about his biological mom and why she wasn’t around.
“she chose parties, sex, and drugs over our kid. she died three years ago in a car accident. she was high and in the wrong lane. trucker hit her car and that was it.” every time she thought about it her heart broke for eddie and for little oliver.
yn realized that she should probably tell her family about eddie. especially because it was almost a year of their relationship and eddie had asked her to move in.
she was a nervous reck whenever it was the day for them to meet. eddie was a bit nervous too. he hid it well though.
he loved yn and planned on spending the rest of his life with her. she meant everything to him. oliver had also grew to love her! he knew the age difference was a huge deal to most, but he wasn’t gonna let that break them.
“you sure you wanna meet my family? we could just run away. you, me, and ollie.” yn wraps her arms behind eddie’s neck.
eddie chuckles. “baby, we gotta do this some time. it’ll be fine! we’re a family now, yeah? the three of us will go in there as a family.”
yn sighs.
“please don’t be late, okay?”
eddie gently kisses her. “promise! ollie and i will be there eight sharp.”
“i love you eds! you and ollie.”
“we love you too. see you tonight.”
when the night came yn was pacing. she was very nervous. especially with her dad and brothers! she knew right away they wouldn’t approve. eddie was the same age as her brother, andy. yn knew this would end in a lot of questions and maybe even yelling.
yn just hoped her mom and sisters would keep the peace between everyone.
“why are you so nervous for us to meet him, baby! im sure he’ll be fantastic. and you know i won’t allow your dad or brothers grill him too much.”
yn gives her mom a small smile before she hears the doorbell ringing. she tries to rush and open the door first but seth beats her to it.
“may i help you?” seth asked.
“hi, im eddie. this is the right place yeah? the yln home?”
“eds!”
“yn!” oliver runs out of his dads arms and into her. yn picks him up and kisses his cheek gently.
“missed you.” he whispers into her shoulder.
“i missed you too ollie! why don’t you go ahead in that room right over there. left some toys for you to play with.”
oliver nods before walking into the direction yn pointed at. eddie walks over to her and kisses her cheek.
“hi, beautiful. missed you.”
she smiles as she stands on the tip of her toes and kisses him gently. she completely forgetting her brother standing there. seth clears his throat before the two of them turned to look at him.
“dinners probably ready. we should go.” seth kept his thoughts to himself. not wanting to say anything just yet until the whole family was gathered together. yn ends up getting ollie as everyone gathered around the table for dinner.
it was an awkward silence. she could tell all eyes were on her and eddie. she didn’t exactly know what anyone was thinking. heart breaking in the process of the silence.
“how exactly old are you, eddie?”
“im thirty-five, sir.” eddie states as he clears his throat
“so, how’d someone your age meet our daughter?” yn father asked.
eddie clears his throat. “met on her twentieth birthday party.”
“and what exactly where you doing at a young lady’s birthday party?” seth glares at the older gentleman.
“his friends girlfriend is a fan. he wanted an autograph so eddie took him to the party. we met outside the venue and hit it off.” yn speaks for him.
“yn, are you outta your goddamn mind?!” out of everyone yn never suspected that jasmin would be the one to yell at her.
yn clears her throat.
“jas!” yn mother scolds.
“mom, she’s dating someone fourteen years older than her. you can’t seriously tell us that you’re okay with this?!”
“your sister is an adult! she can make adult decisions.”
andy scoffs. “she’s barely an adult mom! she’s only twenty one. he’s my age ma.”
“and? your sister is happy! she can make her own decisions. you all need to stop babying her. she can date whoever she wants.”
“i love your daughter and sister. i didn’t go out seeking for someone young. i fell in love with her because she’s smart, beautiful, and talented! she treats my son like her own and for that, she has my whole entire heart. none of you have to like me or be okay with us, but it won’t stop me from one day getting on one knee and asking her to spend the rest of our lives together. she’s my everything. she’s a sunflower in my eyes! a ray of sunshine. im not asking for your approval. im just telling you how it is. we’re a family and i hope that you all will be apart of that family. if not, so be it.” eddie states. yn grabs his hand under the table as she sheds a tear.
“i love you, eds.”
“i like him! moms right. yn is an adult. she knows what she’s doing! if she’s happy so am i.” kimberly shrugs her shoulders.
yn father gets out of his seat and walks towards eddie. “i still don’t approve. i think you’re too old for our child! but anyone tough enough to say how he feels like in front of anyone’s child, i say is a man in love. just take care of my daughter!”
eddie nods his head. “with my whole heart.”
yn dad hums as he sits back down in his seat. dinner finished up with no one leaving in bruises. for yn, that’s a win!
“ill see you tomorrow, yeah?”
yn hums as she kisses eddie goodbye and kisses the top of olivers head. once they were gone yn turns. she had a huge smile on her face as she heads upstairs to her room.
“think he’s the one?” yn mother asked her husband as they watch their daughter leave.
“yeah, i recognize that smile from a mile away.” yn father states as he holds on to his wife. watching as another one of their babies slowly start to leave the nest.

Author note: I wrote this after 3 dry martinis so dont expect surprime quality lol
“WHAT DID I TELL YOU?! WHAT DID I FUCKING TELL YOU?!” A fist came flying at you but landed on the wall next to your head. Blood had already dripped from your nose and your left cheek was blooming a fresh bruise. “YOU DON’T FUCKING TALK TO OTHER GUYS!” Your boyfriends not a bad guy, he just loses his temper sometimes. At least thats what you always told yourself…but it’s never been this bad. His hand snatches your throat and he stands a mere inch from your face. “You’re gonna walk home, and you’re gonna think long and hard about how no one is ever gonna put up with you the way I do.” A final slap rips across your swollen cheek sending you to the floor. He spits on you and walks away. You scramble to your feet the second you find the strength and bolt out of there as fast as your legs could take you. Down the road, passed all of the suburban houses, away from the beautiful house you will most certainly see in your nightmares.
———
By the time you reach the edge of rural Hawkins your pace has shown to a trudge. Every part of you is numb. But you know that come tomorrow morning John would shower you with affection, tell you how much he regrets what he did. It’s a horrible cycle, but you kept taking him back, hoping that one day maybe he might change.
It’s chilly now, and you don’t have a jacket. Truthfully you don’t know why you even came here. Eddie isn’t home and you’d rather not have to explain to Wayne what happened. A car races past you, sending a splash of water over your legs. The breaks slam on and it backs up towards you. You can see it now, a shiny red Camero. Oh no, please don’t let it be-
“Y/l/n?” Yup. Billy Hargrove. A blue eyed beauty with horns and a tail. “What are you doing out here?” Just ignore him y/n, keep walking. “Hey I’m talking to you!” You stop and sigh.
“I’m just out for a walk.”
“In a dress with no jacket?” Fair enough, it wasn’t a convincing lie. “Get in.”
“I’m not interested in sex Hargrove.”
“Actually I was going to drop you off at your house but if you much prefer freezing then be my guest.” He leans back to the steering wheel to drive away.
“Wait!” You call. “I’ll..take a ride.” You slide in and buckle up with his gaze on you the entire time.
“Who’d you pick a fight with?” He snorts. Of course he thinks it’s funny.
“Just drive.” Tears well up in your eyes. Billy doesn’t question it and takes off down the road, back to the suburbs. It’s hard to not cry. Impossible actually. You cup your hand over your mouth but the whimpers are audible. The car makes a hard right into a gas station parking lot and Billy takes out the key.
“Alright I don’t know what happened but even I don’t like pretty girls crying in my car so I’m going to light a cig and you’re going to get all of that out, outside. Capieesh?” You don’t fight back and fling the door open. Outside your sob are aloud and shake your body. Billy blows out the smoke and turns up the radio. He doesn’t want to hear the crying. At least he thought. What if people think he did that to you? Fuck. He’s got no choice but to be nice now. Rolling his eyes he steps out into the air and takes another draw. Getting closer he can see some of the damage to your body. A big yellow bruise covers your right calf, and a claw like scratch peaks out from the shoulder strap of your dress. “I can try to help if you tell me what happened.”
“Why do you even care?!” You yell in frustration. Your damage face is in full view to him, the light from the street lamps make your bruise look dark. “Why does Billy Hargrove give a fuck about some girl her barely knows?”
“Hey I might be a jackass but I do have the capacity to be nice sometimes!” He retaliates. Your blood boils.
“You boys are all the same. You and John.” Billy’s harden expression drops a fraction.
“Your stupid boyfriend did this to you?”
“Does it matter?” He doesn’t answer. Instead he raises the cigarette to his lips but stops. Pondering for a second, he flicks it to the ground and scratches the back of his head.
“Just…let me take you home.” You stay quiet. “Please?”
“Ok.”
———
The engine rumbles to a stop when he pulls into your drive way. Your parents are still awake, evident by the lights and the figure of your father standing in the window.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it.” You unclip your belt and get out, about to shut the door. “Hey y/n?” You look back in. “Maybe dump that guy.”
“Easier said than done.” He purses his lips together and nods. “Good night Billy.”
“Good night.”
The conversation with you parents wasn’t nice, neither was explaining to them that Billy was the innocent one. But what really surprised you was the gossip at school that Monday.
Did you hear what happened to John? Max’s step brother put him in the hospital with a broken jaw.
Yeah I heard. Hargrove is a real piece of shit.
Sometimes, you thought, but even Billy has his moments.
