Sometimes people assume the accumulation is the project of an off-the-charts narcissist, and this makes Quinn laugh, because it’s really the opposite—the portraits are all capturing the same person, so each highlights the hand of its artist all the more. “It’s not about me,” she explained. “It’s about the artists. Three hundred artists are painting one bowl of fruit.”
