HSHHDJDBDH YESSSSS Johnny and Steve running around but they’re both so soft spoke and mumbly that it’s a drastic contrast to say El and Max being regressed together (I HC that they’re menaces together) but Steve and Johnny just end up dragging Nance and Rob around the house to show them different things like the radio Steve’s mesmerized by or the toys that are Johnnys favorite
Eventually all the caregivers go sit in the kitchen while the boys go play until Will comes home and suddenly he has TWO little babeys pulling on his shirt to show him the drawings they made together
I’m sobbing I love them both so SO MUCH 🥹💛💛
Added note: I totally Hc Max as a flip (both little and cg) so one day she’s tasked with watching Johnny and Steve with Will and she is in - shock - at how freaking sweet and respectful they are compared to how feral she knows she is
THEM RUNNING AROUND IS JUST LIK A SPEEDWALK COMPARED TO HOW EL & MAX RUN AROUND HSHSHDSJD THEY WILL ZOOM AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT
those two can also decode each other's mumbles!! if nance is having a hard time understanding what steve said — but she's like also rlly good at understanding him bc jonny's mumbles — she'll look at jonny & he'll tell her "uhh .. wans to pway wif the wadio .. pease." & if robin can't decode jonny she'll look at steve & he'll say "jonny wans a snack .. mm, appie slices." ,, waaaa i love them
OOO & the moment will walks through the door there's like so much hitting him at once, but in a good way!! "hey, mom! oh, hi nancy, robin– is that a cake? when did you get a ca–? OH, hey, jonathan!"
"wuh-wuh!!"
":DD jonny!! hey, bub ... and hi to ducky, too! and steve? hey, dude!"
"stebe small, bubba .. ike me."
"oooh, he's small like you, jonny? you've got another friend!"
"mhhm!! uhh .. we drawed somtin for you, too."
":0 drawing for me, from both of you?"
"uh-huh! wanna show!!"
"okay, okay, i'm coming, i'm coming!"
mind u that entire interaction happened in the living room where everyone else was so when the three disappear in the room, joyce is the first one to start fawning — "ohmyGOD they're so cute oh my GOODNESS." & the others follow in her footsteps akjdakdjsk
AND MAAAAAX!!! (≡^∇^≡) god wait max / will babysitting duo is so cute.... max knows jonny is quiet & sweet (bc look the hc that he & maxie r small buddies is so cute) but she's kinda shocked at steve bc the steve she knows is not shy. awkward yeah, but not shy! so seeing how shy, sweet & respectful they are to each other & everyone around them is like "woah??"
max half expects something to go down — like they start getting reaaally comfortable around them & that's when they're gonna start bouncing off the walls — but nope! the only thing that goes down is steve raising his voice slightly bc jonny had left him w max to do something else (helping will with lunch) & he wanted him really quick ,, they were just angels okay
she's so in shock that during their nap she looks dead at will & half-jokingly asks "what did you say to them to get them to behave like angels?" & will goes "nothing! they're just like that, max!"
they're fr just Like That, & as shocked as max is at first, she adores them (❁´◡`❁)

OH MY GOODNESS!!! The way you have now put Steve liking baking into my head it’s all I can think about!!! He would be the sweetest little shyst guy about it too
He goes over to the Byers with a cake for Johnny and is all soft spoken about how he knows strawberry flavor is Johnathans favorite. Joyce is the one he’s talking to about all the baking stuff and she’s freaking melting because this big guy she’s seen swing a bat full of nails at monsters is getting blushed about how much frosting he put and how he put little pearl sprinkles around the boarder of the cake

jon's like "oh?" so steve hops up from the couch, grabs his arm, & leads him to the kitchen where the extra frosted cake is awaiting him ... and dear god he's so so grateful & pleasantly surprised! it's like WOAH is it for his birthday or smth — even tho his birthday is in the fall lmaosidjsi
ooo ok to add a regression spin to jon: jonathan's been feeling like he's gonna regress all day (but it's been from positive triggers!! he got to feed ducks today even tho it wasn't what he was planning on doing & a whole rabbit came up & sniffed him before bouncing away & he managed to get a picture of it & he got to do all of that with nancy!!), so seeing this cake knowing it was made for him — even tho he deff plans on sharing it — pushes him over that edge & oh wow now he's Babey ehe (ˊ˘ˋ*)
sooo now there r TWO little ones around the house, & they are eating CAKE with the CGS & it is a happy, HAPPY day!!!

Thinking about little!steve and cg!Robin when Steve accidentally slips at work and for the first time in front of Robin but Robin could read him a mile away just never said anything about it.
Steve getting all nervous and shy that Robins about to laugh at him or something for being so small but she’s just in awe at Steve’s little mumbles and how he rocks on his heels 🥹🥹
HBVVRJDHEJDBQHS (💝´∀｀)／robin can read this boy like a BOOK istg ,, she's trying not to coo & "awwww" too loudly bc he's shy abt this n she doesn't want him to run off & hide bc they are still at work akdhakdj ,, and oh his itty bitty mumbles (●´ω｀●)ゞ♪ she avoids telling him to speak up bc she knows that's Not a good thing to tell a shy person, so she ends up becoming a master at knowing what those mumbles mean exactly <3
i think steve would still try working even tho he's small bc he doesn't wanna leave all the work on robin's shoulders (even tho she rlly doesn't mind if he needs some time to himself), so she gives him smaller tasks to make him feel helpful!! a customer comes in & asks for a specific movie, so robin goes "hey, you know where that movie is, right steve? ooh, can you get it for this guy? yeaaa, thank you, steve!" & it rlly does make him feel like a little helper (´꒳`∗)
AND he loves getting the movies, too!! it's like a game of lost & found to him ... except nobody lost any kind of movie, they just need it found hakdhsj ,, robin n him make it into a little game if two customers come in looking for a specific movie: whoever finds their movie first, they have to do something of the winner's choice!!
this, my friend, is how robin learns just how much steve likes baking. not necessarily eating what he makes, but baking itself. she, nancy, jonathan, eddie, and all of the kids have at least one of every sweet treat sitting in their fridge, waiting to be eaten
