You were going to ask how he found out, but realized quickly that it didn’t even matter.

“A few months.”

When you turn around there are tears in your brothers eyes, and you wish he reacted the way you thought he would. Being angry and yelling at you was ten times better than the hurt that was written on his face.

“And you didn’t think to tell me?”

“I thought you’d be mad.” Your excuse sounds pathetic even to your own ears, and Jaemin scoffs.

“And you thought not telling me so I have to find out from Kpop News on Twitter would make me less angry?”

“Wait what?”

He showed you his phone screen, a picture of you and Jisung holding hands on your walk back to the hotel with a caption from some random kpop news account.

Tears immediately fill your eyes, and you realize how much you’ve hurt Jisung in your relationship, how much you’d hurt him in the last hour. Not only did you break his heart, you also could have just ruined his career.

“I- I didn’t mean to,” you try to hold in a sob but your voice cracks anyway, and you have no idea how to finish your sentence.

Jaemin does it for you.

“What? Didn’t mean to lie to me? Didn’t mean to mess up Jisung’s career? Didn’t mean to give our entire group a scandal? It doesn’t matter if you meant to or not baby sis, you still did it.”

“Why aren’t you yelling at me?”

He looks taken aback by your question, but you realize underneath the expression just how exhausted your brother looks.

“I’m tired. I’m already handling so much shit from the company and fans, I don’t have the energy to waste on this right now. Especially since I know this is going to fall on me too. If you want to ruin our relationship over some guy you’ve known for less than a year, that’s on you. I don’t care.”

“Did I?”

It takes him a moment to realize what you were asking, and he pauses, as if contemplating if you had ruined your entire relationship.

“I don’t know.”

He walks out when the sobs finally break out, because he knows there’s no way he can see you cry like that and not completely throw everything out the window to comfort you.

So you sit in the dark room crying by yourself, realizing you might have just ruined two of the most important relationships in your life.

You were worried what would happen with yours and Jisung’s relationship when Jaemin found out, but you never thought you’d lose both of them.

“Y/n?”, I hear before I turn around, seeing Sicheng sitting at Kun and mine usual study table.

“Oh hey Sicheng, nice seeing you here.” I chuckle awkwardly, fully aware that Hendery texted him by now pretending to be me.

He quickly gets up and tugs at his clothes. “Yeah... Just a question, weren’t you just... texting me?” Sicheng holds up his phone and shows me the messages Hendery send.

“Little bitch”, I mumble and scowl, narrowing my eyes as I am reading. “I knew that that handwriting was familiar. You are tutoring me? I didn’t know you took Chinese Lit.”

“I needed some extra study points as it seemed like an easy subject. But is this you?” He gives me his phone so I can read over the conversation.

I shake my head. “No, this is Hendery. He has stolen my phone, see.” I pull out Hendery’s phone from my back pocket and unlock it to show the home screen, a selfie of himself.

“So that was Hendery I was talking to?”

I nod. “Yup. He told me Kun planted the napkin but he accidentally took it.” I show Sicheng the convo between Hendery and me.

“They really got us good, didn’t they. I at least got to talk to you... that’s a good thing.” Sicheng’s ears turn a slight shade of red as he scratches the nape of his neck.

I blink blankly up at him. Is this the same guy that rejected me not a week ago?

You were used to it, the double standards. The judgemental stares and the looks of disgust you recieved.

It wasn't a particularly taboo topic, at least not for most people, but thanks to choi jiung, you'd found yourself subject to more backlash than the standard student, the standard student that could enjoy a night out without having to think twice about the stranger they hooked up with.

You weren't granted the same luxury, or at least not for long after you'd met jiung.

Your history with choi jiung was complex, far more difficult to explain than it was to accept what people thought of you now, especially since the people you truly cared about were those who could look past your silly little reputation, or so you thought.

Jeno's words cut deep, as any friends would, you assume he's irritable tonight, in a bad mood or feeling down, something that has you launching your phone into the wall where it lands against your SHINee poster, most probably leaving a dent, as you find yourself making excuses for him.

It was something you never saw coming, jeno was, and up until now, always had been the one to hold two hands over your ears and walk you away from the shitty comments people would make about you. He was the guy who took you out for ice cream and let you cry into his shoulder about just how much those words hurt, when they finally got to you.

It was lee jeno who bothered to ask if you were okay and knew every time you weren't, lee jeno who told you that everything you were described as, every negative adjective attributed to you was a lie. It was lee jeno who knew you for who you were, not for who you were said to be.

And you had believed him.

So you didn't bother to defend yourself and jiung didn't care to back away, not for a while. You're not quite sure when he had decided he wasn't interested in you any longer, but you didn't care enough to find out, simply glad that he had left, though his mark on your life remained.

You wonder what dragged him back, why only a few months after you thought you'd been freed of the shackles of his words, his actions, his control, he was back, and as it already seemed, with the intention to stay.
