The sun isn’t up yet, but I am. The lists of things to do today grows by the minute. Burning the candle at both ends does have a way of providing light in the early morning hours though. In the distance I can see the outline of the barn as the first light hits it, the silver roof bounces the moonlight and the coffee brews. Today the leaves will be richer and brighter and another day of autumn will be savored even if it’s from out the window rather than immersed in it. ➤ Highway 93 is a north–south highway in Alberta, Canada. It is also known as the Banff-Windermere Parkway south of the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) and the Icefields Parkway north of the Trans-Canada Highway. It travels through Banff National Park and Jasper National Park and is maintained by Parks Canada for its entire length. It runs from the British Columbia border at Vermilion Pass in the south, where it becomes British Columbia Highway 93, to its terminus at the junction with the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16) at Jasper. The route takes its number from U.S. Route 93, which runs uninterrupted south to central Arizona, and was initially designated as '93' in 1959.

Summer in the North Cascades

They say today will be the peak day for apple orchards and pumpkin patches across the country. That final Saturday before the cold of mid autumn sets in. The glorious sun streams in between the rows of apples, varieties ancient and man-made. Pumpkin picked in patches that have been dried by the early autumn days with their warmth and lack of humidity. Dreams of jackolanterns to carve and bring to life, dreams of apple cider donuts and apple cider in little white cups dance through the minds of many a city and country folk as they load up and head out into the country to find that family owned farm they’ve been going to for decades.
