something that boils my piss about visa and mastercard and stripe and paypal unilaterally declaring themselves the final arbiters of what kind of legal business people are allowed to conduct is how much of their bullying is based on pure aesthetics. If you go through the retailer list of a certain specialty herb supplier, the stores that are dressed as legal highs and head shops have all got the banhammer but the stores dressed as wellness and lifestyle have the full suite of payment options available. THEY'RE THE SAME. FUCKING. BUSINESS.

It's the same with adult products, if you want a dildo from Horny Hank's Freaky Fuck Bazaar you gotta pay with crypto or bank transfer but if you want the exact same dildo from the Heterosexual Coupling Healthy Happiness Enhancement Emporium you can pay with paypal.

They don't even truly care what you're selling they only care how it looks. The image of respectable conformity matters more than the substance of the business and products. And actually I don't think anyone should have to meet arbitrary standards of what an acceptable storefront looks like to be able to draw a cartoon dick when drawing cartoon dicks is in fact perfectly fucking legal. You should be able to draw and distribute cartoon dicks in accordance with the law without being forced to dress your cartoon dick dispensary like a hot yoga studio, actually.

i truly cannot comprehend couples that have vastly different political beliefs like it doesn't matter. our political beliefs are a balm that have helped keep my partner and i together for 13 years.

and i don't mean that on a surface level. i don't mean that because we vote for the same people, that resolves anything between us. but political beliefs are beliefs about the world, and people, and how we should treat each other, and how can that NOT factor into your personal relationships?

our belief that people deserve respect and autonomy means that we respect each other and encourage the other's autonomy. our belief in the abolition of police and prisons means that we don't punish each other for messing up, and we often use the tools we've learned in deescalation trainings during disagreements. our belief in disability justice means we make space for each other's limitations and boundaries. like. it's all connected. the personal is political, but the political is also inherently personal.

anyway. rip to "apolitical" people and all those in mixed-politic relationships but i could literally never.

i just think that, most of the time, you really do need to teach people how to love you. and equally, you need to be taught how to love others. this can feel scary and hard and even like a failure, especially if you're approaching a relationship with trauma - shouldn't it be easy to love me? yeah ofc. but love is an act of translation between people across experience, geography, culture, memory. it's constant, purposeful translation. and though it can be hard, there is real joy to be found in the teaching and learning of love.

i just think if you purchase someone's art or other handmade crafts, you shouldn't give negative reviews unless what you receive is like, wildly different from what was advertised, etc. "always rate your uber drivers 5 stars" but for indie artists, please.
