Hey, @theartfulv!!! I'm your @jatp-secretsanta! You said you were interested in a How To Train Your Dragon AU, so I did my best to provide!

I chose each dragon to specifically fit their character! Alex's is a Flightmare, because they can get pretty anxious. Julie's is a Thunderdrum because of their sheer sonic power. Luke's is a Thunderclaw, because they like to hang out with others like them and they can be quite defensive! Then, of course, Reggie's is a Terrible Terror because they are little mischief-makers and get into all kinds of trouble!

I wanted something challenging, and boy, did I learn to be careful what I wish for. I've never written Bobby-centric before, so this was an experience. It literally took me over a month to write this.

Drag me Headfirst

Happy Holidays @willexmagic! This is you gift for the @jatp-secretsanta, it’s pure fluff, a Willex date and inspired by Fearless by Taylor Swift. The line “you take my hand and drag me headfirst” always reminds me of the scene in front of the museum when Willie takes Alex’s hand and pulls him inside. That association started this fic and the rest of the song provided the guidelines for the rest of their date. I hope you enjoy it!

It was raining and Alex was nervously huddled close to a wall, waiting in front of the museum where he was supposed to meet Willie in five minutes. They had been hanging out more often lately and Alex was pretty sure they were flirting, or at least he hoped they were. Maybe it was just wishful thinking. Of course, Julie, Reggie, and Luke had almost yelled at him when he voiced that concern to them. According to them, an astronaut on the ISS could tell that Willie and Alex were flirting. They also thought their plans today were a date. Alex wasn’t convinced about either.

Willie had invited him to come to his favourite museum, so maybe that was a good sign. He had said he wanted to show him something and that it was important that they’d be in the museum shortly before it closed. Alex had no idea why and it made him a little nervous. Willie sometimes liked to… stretch the rules a little, while Alex usually followed rules just to avoid any awkwardness or conflict. He trusted Willie though- something about being with him made him almost fearless. The only other thing that could do that was performing with his friends. No matter how bad his stage fright got, as soon as they started playing, all his anxiety went away. Willie’s incredibly cool and calm disposition had a similar effect, especially when he smiled at him. Willie’s smile was amazing and always made Alex’s heart beat a little faster in a non-anxious way.

Willie arrived and smiled at him with exactly that smile, which made Alex less nervous, but also excited for what was to come. Smiling back at Willie, he said, “Hey, thanks for inviting me. So what exactly are we doing here so close to the museum closing?”

Their travels go on like this for two more days until a castle slowly rises into their vision. They can see how big it is even from far away, tall towers, large buildings, and high walls and fences surrounding all of it. And as they get closer they can also see just how much of it is covered in huge, spiky, dangerous rose bushes.

The outer walls and fences are covered in it from ground to edge, the thorns glistening in the afternoon sun, almost grinning at the companions, mocking them, as if saying that they came all this way just to be defeated by plants.

But Julie knows, this is the time, this is the day that the curse is meant to be broken, the roses have to yield.

“This really cool person asked me out!” Reggie exclaims, waving his phone in Julie’s face, displaying a phone number. “They had this really cool tie dye crop top and super pretty hair and they winked at me and gave me their number and they said they liked my flannel and we’re going out for ice cream tomorrow cause we both think coffee dates are overrated!”

Julie immediately jumps up and starts dancing around with Reggie, clearly overjoyed for her friend. Luke is quick to join in, wrapping himself around Reggie and chanting in his ear. And then there’s Alex, still sitting on the couch, feeling like he’s in one of those movies where the music cuts out and all you see is people laughing and dancing, surrounding the protagonist who has horror dawning on their face.

Look, he knew this day would come. Of course someone would be smart enough to ask Reggie out at some point. Reggie is smart and kind and funny and beautiful and super talented, and Alex might be a little biased because he’s been halfway in love with his best friend for years, if not longer, but he knows these are facts. Reggie is a catch and if Alex wasn’t so sure that Reggie doesn’t like him like that at all, he would have asked him out months ago.

A Christmas Retail Story

Merry Christmas @wouldbflat! I had you for the @jatp-secretsanta so I hope you enjoy a modern AU that’s definitely made for a laugh, and that you don’t mind slightly-long fics because this definitely ran away from me.

Summary:

There are probably worse things in life than working in retail at Christmas time, but Julie's not certain what they are.

At least she has her friends with her. Together, they suffer through the Christmas season and, somehow, manage to keep in relatively high spirits.

“Consider,” Reggie says and Bobby sits upright, because this sounds like a scheme of some kind, “what if we set up a song to play at Luke’s work?”

Frowning, Bobby says, “What do you mean? Do you want to Bluetooth it or something?” He remembers the first time Luke and Julie had met, and the Bluetooth war that sparked between them.

Reggie shakes his head. “No, they’ve had the Christmas radio station on lately. And they do that hour of choice or whatever it’s called…” Reggie trails off, but Bobby can see the fully-formed idea without him finishing.

“Do you have a song in mind?” He pulls out his phone, googling to find the radio station in question. It takes a moment or two find the phone number, and then he places his phone down on the table.

The grin that forms on Reggie’s face is enough to make Bobby fear for Luke, just a little bit. He really shouldn’t have said that country music wasn’t the best kind of music in front of Reggie. Bobby doesn’t really feel bad for Luke.

“Deck the Halls by Sandy Oliver.”

Actually, scratch that. Bobby does feel bad for Luke.

Oh well, only nine days left before the Christmas season is over. Gotta enjoy life while you’re still living and all that. It’ll be worth it.
