Hey JatP gang. I know it's been a rough year, both with the show and in people's personal lives. I just wanted to hop on here and say that even if we all drift away to other fixations or hobbies or pieces of media, there will still be a huge piece of my heart here for all of you. In 2023 when Julie throws her cap in the air at her high school graduation, I love you. In 2024, when the band releases their first full album, I love you. In 2025 when Alex and Willie have a small wedding in the Molina garage, I love you. In 2026, when Edge of Great hits platinum, I love you. In 2027 when they start their first world tour, I love you. In 2028 when they win three Grammys, I love you.
And in 2032, when Alex chases Reggie all over their huge studio for saying that he'd be the one to leave in a blowup, I love you.
In 2035 when they release their sixth album, I love you.
In 2041, when Luke is able to stand and speak and hug his dad at Emily's funeral, I love you.
In 2049, when they raise over a billion dollars to help LGBTQ+ youth through a series of charity concerts, I love you.
In 2054 when they play at Ray's retirement party, I love you.
I could keep going, but I think you get the point. This show, this band, and this fandom will live in my heart forever, even if we aren't all still talking 20 years down the road. I love you guys, happy anniversary.

Happy 2 years of JatP!
Can you believe it’s been two years since Julie and the Phantoms came out?
Are you streaming the show and/or the songs today? Or maybe reading fanfiction, watching fan videos, browsing fanart or even listening to podcasts about JatP?
I know we’ve been pretty quiet lately and haven’t said anything about our promised last JatP related podcast episode that’s supposed to be coming up. It looks like we’ll be recording that episode on the 18th, but we’re not promising anything yet. We’ll be talking of our favourite podcast episodes and moments from the past two years and we would love to hear your favourites as well.

Jatp/10 Things I Hate About You AU
In honor of the third anniversary of the premier of Julie and the Phantoms here is the 10 Things I Hate about You AU I will never write.
I’m not going to explain a whole lot about 10 Things. If you’ve seen the movie this should make sense, If not I highly recommend.
Luke is Patrick – With his sleeveless tees and his doesn’t give a crap about school attitude. Think more brooding musician Luke, less excited puppy. He gets sent to the office all the time for skipping class to write music.
“You’re not afraid of me are you?”
Julie is Kat – Angry at the world. Her mother died three years ago and she’s moved on from grief to anger. The only scene I have an idea about is changing the dancing drunk on a table scene to singing karaoke drunk on a table. Cause I’d still want her to hit her head and have Luke catch her and take her outside and worry she’s got a concussion.
That whole scene on the swing set, need it.
“Why are you doing this?”
“I told you you may have a concussion.”
“You don’t care if I never wake up.”
“Sure I do.”
“Why?”
“Because then I’d have to start taking out girls that actually like me.”
“Like you could find one.”
“Oh, See, that, there. Who needs affection when I have blind hatred.”
“Ugh, just let me sit.”
“So why’d you let him get to you?”
“Who?”
“Bobby?”
“I hate him.”
“Well you’ve chosen the perfect revenge, mainlining tequila.”
“Well you know what they say?”
“Nope, what do they say?”
Julie passes out.
“No, no, no, no, Julie wake up look at me! Listen to me Julie open your eyes!”
Julie opens her eyes to see Luke hovering over her.
“Hey, what color even are you eyes? Every time I look at you they’re different.”
He smiles at her.
She throws up.
Reggie is Cameron – New kid in school. Completely smitten by Flynn the first time he sees her just like Cameron is with Bianca.
“I burn, I pine, I parish…”
Alex is Michael – He’s a band geek instead of future MBA (Masters Business Administration) like Michael was. He knows all the gossip about everyone. He’s the one showing Reggie around campus when Reggie sees Flynn for the first time. He could also be the one that sets up the apology song (Can’t keep my eyes off of you) for Luke to sing to Julie with the band chiming in.
Flynn is Bianca – Kat’s/ Julie’s sister. I’m going to go with Flynn being adopted a couple years after Julie was born.
“Can you for one night forget that you are completely retched and be my sister… please.”
So they wouldn’t be the same age like in jatp but a couple years apart like in 10 things. So everyone but Flynn and Carrie are seniors.
Willie is Mandella – Kat’s best friend who Alex has a crush on. No weird Shakespeare thing needed. Maybe Alex just leaves a regular old note in their locker asking them to prom? Maybe it’s not a “regular” note but one on the back of a postcard of a famous painting by Willie’s favorite artist.
Carrie is Chastity – Flynn’s best friend.
“I know you can be overwhelmed and you can be underwhelmed but can you ever just be whelmed?”
“I think you can in Europe.”
Bobby is Joey – It’s definitely believable that that character could be an idiot jackass and I think I can believe he’s a model if he was prepped up some (less grunge more styled). The only weird would be that he’d end up taking Carrie to the prom and most of us write them as related. I was thinking they don’t HAVE to be related but then again maybe it’d be even funnier if they were cousins and she was his only option after Flynn ditched him for Reggie.
Bobby punches Reggie.
Flynn punches Bobby.
“Shit Flynn! I’m shooting a nose spray add tomorrow!”
“That’s for making my date bleed!”
Punches him again.
“That’s for my sister!”
Knees him in the groin.
“And that’s for me!”
She helps Reggie up off the floor.
“Are you ok?”
He smiles, “Never been better.”
KISSES!
Nick is Bogey Lowenstein – Rich band nerd not cool jock. It works well enough.
“You guys please, take it outside!” Fighting boys crash through the window. “Thank you!”
Ray is Mr. Stratford – Kat and Flynn’s dad. I know on jatp he’d a photographer but he’d just have to be a gynecologist in this because all his panic about the girls dating is way too funny to skip and with the pregnancy belly he makes Bianca put on at one point.
“I know who you want to bend the rules for it’s that hotrod Bobby.”
Caleb is Ms. Perky –The principle. Who doesn’t want to see Caleb spending time writing a romance novel instead of disciplining the children? I can just see him trying to think of new words for “throbbing member” and Luke or Julie giving him an answer he’s pleased with.
“The point is Julie. People perceive you as somewhat…”
“Tempestuous”
“Heinous bitch is the term used most often.”
Julie grins.
“You might want to work on that… Thank you.”
“As always thank you for your excellent guidance Mr. Covington. I’ll let you get back to Christopher’s quivering member.”
“Quivering member, hum, I like that.”
Mrs. Harrison is Mr. Morgan - The English teacher, no stretch here.
Carlos and Victoria could still be there just in much more minor rolls. They would be pretty much how they are on jatp.

Julie and the Phantoms Episode 2: Bright
- Luke's immediate disgust and fear over Ray's allusion to private time with his wife will never not be funny to me.
And Alex's delayed response and like confusion is almost better.
- I love how they built an explanation for the people who can hear them play into the episode.
- Julie. You are the worst liar and I have no idea how you get away with it.
Also I'm so proud of your ability to stand up to these boys.
- the kitchen scene is one of my absolute favourites from the whole season. Luke's pouty face, Julie's immunity to him, his segway, the lip bite and nod. Everything.
- Luke as Julie's personal cheerleader and his excitement at her playing is just... everything
And say what you want about Luke's emotional intelligence but he knew that *something* was up with Dirty Candi and stopped Alex from making it worse. Julie was priority in that moment.

like northern stars
Julie doesn't have to wonder what sort of mischief her family is up to for very long.
It's the best sort of Sunday morning mischief. Or…one of the best, anyway.
She leans in the doorway, stifling a giggle as Reggie croons into the drippy whisk he's been using. It splatters his shirt with pancake batter in the process.
"I set out on a narrow way many years ago…hoping I would find true love along the broken road…"
Their daughter has none of Julie's reservations, and her giggles ring brightly through the kitchen as she shimmies excitedly from her perch on the counter.
Reggie grins, pausing only to kiss the top of her head and hold out his hand for the bag of chocolate chips she's most likely been snacking on. It's hard for him to say no to her. Julie shakes her head, but it's impossible for her to lose her own grin.
Especially when he sings like that.
Her breath catches when he meets her eyes, and she soon finds herself in his arms, blinking dazedly as he twirls her around. He keeps crooning in her ear.
"Every long lost dream led me to where you are…others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars…"
She comes in on the next line, much to Juniper's delight…and Reggie's, if the shine in his eyes is any indication.
"Pointing me on my way into your loving arms…this much I know is true…"
Juniper gasps. "Daddy! The pancakes!"
He starts to swear and stops as Julie sends him a sideways look, smiling sheepishly as they untangle, missing the way she smiles and rolls her eyes.
They manage to rescue the pancakes with minimal charring, but not without finishing the song, at Juniper's insistence.
Maybe Reggie isn't the only one who can't say no to her every now and then.
Julie's in the middle of helping Juniper cut up her pancakes when she abruptly asks, "What's a northern star? Are they special?"
Reggie hums, tapping his fork against his mouth as he thinks, and Julie smothers a giggle in her palm as Juniper copies him.
"Well," he says slowly, "there's only one northern star, really, but yeah, I guess you could call it special. People use it as a guide, so they can find their way home."
Juniper gasps excitedly. "Oh! So in the song, they're saying Mommy is your home? And the star people helped you find her? Is that right, Daddy?"
He smiles, leaning to ruffle her hair and smiling harder as she laughs.
"Good job, June Bug. Yeah, you've got it. Although—I'd say it's more like the two of you are my northern stars. My—hope."
"Honey, don't confuse her by mixing metaphors," Julie says through a smile of her own, pointing a butterknife at him in mock accusation. "That's sweet of you, though."
He spreads his hands in surrender, dropping his fork in the process, and chuckles with a shrug as she and Juniper laugh.
"Yeah, metaphors are more of your thing."
"But—you and Mommy are my stars too!" Juniper insists. "The special-est kind."
Julie finds herself blinking back tears. She drops a kiss on the tip of Juniper's nose.
"Thanks, baby. We love you."
Juniper beams, looking very much like her father as she does so. "I love you, too!"
And maybe she didn't have too too much chocolate before breakfast, because she sinks right into her nap at the usual time.
Julie tucks the blanket more securely around Juniper and smiles at her sleeping form.
She's curled serenely around her teddy bear, with most of her face hidden in their fur and beneath her curls. Julie kisses the top of her head softly, heart melting as she lets out a small, contented sigh and snuggles deeper into her blanket and her bear. She's...
Well, she's everything. Special for sure.
Julie carefully pads out of the room and eases the door shut, listening for the soft snick. She makes her way into the den.
She drops into Reggie’s lap, replying with a pleased hum as his hands curl around her hips and pull her even closer.
"So…she's asleep, if you wanna…"
He answers with a kiss that curls her toes.
"Lead the way," he murmurs, eyes twinkling, and it takes her a moment.
She snorts when it hits her, swatting lightly at his chest. "You're impossible."
He lifts his chin with a smirk. "You love it."
And, well…he's got her there.
She'd be lying if she said she didn't.

Whenever I think I’m over jatp (ha.), a rogue soundtrack song will come on shuffle and immediately, the scene will replay in my head and i lose control of all bodily functions and proceed to immerse myself in those 3 minutes while singing along dramatically (or pretend to dance if it’s all eyes on me) (or pretend ive got a glittery cape on if it’s the other side of Hollywood) (or pretending I’m both julie and luke during edge of great while adding the phantom guitar solo) and cry about how we deserved a season two and the potential, but then i’ll also feel eternally grateful for what we got and how this little show brought together so many wonderful people and inspired so many others in various ways and yeah the pandemic took many things away from us but we got this show and i swear, i’m truly never going to be “over” jatp.

Headcanon that after Willie signed away his soul at Caleb's club by accident, he developed a special interest in contracts and all that jazz. And with an eternity to hang out and do research when they didn't feel like skating and weren't needed at the Club, Willie dove down many rabbit holes. By the time Alex comes into the picture, Willie is a casual expert on contract law and fine print.
So when Julie and the Phantoms starts getting offers from music labels, Willie is the first to spot any red flags in the contracts and quickly becomes their go-to for that stuff.
There is no logic behind this, only vibes :D

Fic-iversary, Year 2!
So two years ago, I posted my first ever JatP fic (you can read it here if you so want-or the one I posted today if you'd rather) and whoo what a ride it has been since then!
I said at the time I wasn't sure if I was gonna write more for this fandom or not, not fully realizing how fully this silly little ghost show would consume my life. Now here we are, 2 years, 60+ fics (and almost 500 ficlets!) later.
We've gone through some hardships, and the fandom has definitely gotten smaller, but I'm sticking it out. I have too many ideas not to!
But because it's an anniversary of sorts, I just wanted to send some love to a few people who have made the ride all the sweeter. I love all of you Fantoms of course, but these four have been floating here in the Rulie canoe with me and deserve the extra attention.
@jmrothwell Josie, it has been a pleasure to watch you blossom as a writer in this fandom, and I just love your determination and creativity. I can't wait to see where your stories, both present and future take you and I hope you know how special you are to me. Thank you for every kind comment and reblog you've given me, and I wish you nothing but the best. Lots of love hun!
