India's first planned city is a fascinating place where you will see broad boulevards, immaculate gardens and one of the country's most popular attractions.

Chandigarh is the state capital of the Punjab and Jariana regions, but it is also a territory directly administered by the federal government. You can easily get around Chandigarh as the areas are divided into numbered sections and have access to truck lines. If you want to shop and eat, head to Section 17, which is minutes from the hotels in Section 22.

Fly to Chandigarh Airport or take a bullet train from New Delhi. If you want to escape the bustling markets and crowds typical of India, visit Chandigarh and see a different side of this fascinating country.

3. Pinjore Gardens
