i feel like james would not give a shit about his gf fucking his friends cause he's not possesive like that but he feels personally attacked when she buys a vibrator
I agree!
I don’t think he would ever even punish you with a vibrator either. I think he would opt for something that would really bother you emotionally. something like cucking you or letting sirius and remus have their way without him stepping in like he usually does, making you feel uncomfortable and helpless.

ember james: character sketch
she is a girl wrapped in mystery with a face like an open book.
she wears her emotions like her long beige trench coat, unbuttoned and wide open, a visible accessory to all her many layers, donned like a suit of vulnerable armor. heart on her sleeve, as they say.
she is a mess of self-contradictions: equal parts dark and light, inner fire that shows itself in flashes, with each twist of her smile, twitch of her eyebrow, tilting of the chin. a naive, brown-eyed gaze; shoulders that have already carried a multitude of burdens. a little bit of her broken down, a large part of her still innocent and fresh. somehow, she ended up with a name almost perfect for hollywood screens: catchy, rolling neatly off the tongue — Ember James — yet sometimes all too easily misinterpreted.
(how many times has she had to say it? “it’s not Amber, it’s Ember. it’s a little weird, I know,” and if she feels particularly bold, she’ll add, “it’s actually a nickname for September — my parents named me after that famous song, you know, the one by Earth Wind & Fire? it was a favorite of theirs.”
one thing she never says out loud: it was the song her parents fell in love to, until one day, they weren’t in love anymore, and now their eldest daughter is stuck with a name that functions like her very own scarlet letter, a permanent tie to her two divorced parents.
so now she is just Ember. like smoldering fire, like the hurts that simmer beneath her skin.)
for all her internal anger and restless drive, her edges are soft. she keeps her tears and laughter close to the surface. she has an air of seriousness but she laughs easily and often, someone with plenty of practice in recognizing the inherent irony of life. in many ways, she’s a mess: still young at the age of nineteen, still trying to pull her life together.
she rages at life and childhood regrets. but Life is a frustratingly incorporeal target, and she could never truly hate God, so in some part of her unconscious mind she realized that people are the easiest causes on which to lay blame, the easiest offenses to catalogue, the easiest targets to aim at. this is what gets her in trouble most easily, and most often.
at times, it is almost as if she lives to purposefully stir up waves. it’s in the way she chooses to chase what her dad would call the most disaster-prone dream: acting, and staunchly refuses to even consider a backup plan. it’s in the way she moves through the world as if the fates and the laws of physics will bend to fit her own agenda if she simply wishes hard enough; the way she argues with a passion, lights up at the possibility of controversy, keeps a running tally of comebacks and explanations for the next round of punches. but really, she is walking on eggshells (because her family has always been unsteady) waiting for the next explosion to hit, already stocking up on ammunition. no one would expect her capable of dealing a low blow, but she has, many times over.
perhaps that makes her self-centered. perhaps that makes her self-sufficient. perhaps there was never a difference.

VHSCC OH MY GOD
(no spoilers)
Starkid nation, you aren't ready.
So let's start with the obvious. Look, I spent thirteen years growing up with Starkid. That initial Michigan gang are deeply special to me and I will always miss Dylan, Brian R., and Corey in any show they aren't in. And this one's no different. But just as Janaya came in and took over Belle from Britney so flawlessly, Curt, Brian, and AJ were all WONDERFUL in their new roles. The gentle-but-high-energy, truly decent, romantic himbo charm Curt brought to our Springsteen boy Jim (you all are going to LOVE Jim, I promise) perfectly offset the defiant, sneering anger of Young Scrooge in "That Scrooge." Brian's reactions (particularly to the "rather take my own life" line) were so funny and some of my favorite parts of the show. And AJ... this is now my favorite thing AJ has ever done. And that's saying something. The smaller casting shake-up moments (Joey as Fezziwig, other little line re-distributions) were so fun as well!
The new act 1 is PERFECTION. I was actually surprised by how absolutely hysterical it was? Like, I won't tell you what was up with that clip on Instagram of Brian, Lauren, and Joey doing a freak-out dance, but I can tell you that their whole Act 1 deal threatened to steal the show every. Single. Time. I already mentioned Curt as Jim, but you will also love Della, who is so funny and real and truly carries us through the start of the show (Janaya is a STAR and she Curt have brilliant chemistry). Ali did a terrific job of balancing the sadness and hope that are both at the center of the devastating little Match Girl. And Jamie's Grandma... well, honestly I have no idea how to talk about Jamie's song without giving stuff away.
But the real star of the show in Act 1, as he should be, was our man Clark. I can't emphasize enough how much he nailed the writing of this whole new act. I mentioned that the new stuff is hilarious, but it's also deeply heartfelt, and also sad exactly when it needs to be. Like, the transition after Jamie's song? I can't really talk about it yet, but what that moment does with emotion is unreal. And, as expected, every song is a banger! My one complaint about this show, and it IS a big one, is that there is no cast recording of the Act 1 songs. I want to listen to them all the time.
But the good news is, I CAN listen to Christmas Carol as much as I want! The classic that started it all is back, with so many people reprising the hell out of their truly iconic roles (God I love the VHS Cratchits), and better than ever. I traditionally hate change, and I love the version of VHSCC Live! we already have so much, but I think I somehow loved this version even more? The staging is alive and clever and there are some additions and changes, particularly in "Final Ghost"/"Christmas Day," that frankly blew my mind and somehow managed to elevate the material even further. I can't wait for the digital ticket to come out so that I can talk about them. To put it simply, James Tolbert mastered his Starkid directorial debut like you won't believe. I'm so proud of him and grateful for the larger role he's taken in Starkid since they moved base to LA.
Also, the Ghost of Christmas Past is extra unhinged this year? Jaime pulled out all of the impish stops and it was the BEST.
Basically, everyone more than delivered. I haven't talked about Meredith yet but she rocked it in the band and continued to validate the hell out of my opinion that "3 Spirits" is the dark horse best song in the show.
And a special shout-out to June Saito for continuing to be a costuming GENIUS. I always love her work and this production is no exception. I honestly wanted to give the return of the Bob Cratchit costume its own round of applause.
You know, the world is a mess and everything is pretty much terrible. It's been a hard year in an impossible decade. But every once in a while you come across some art that takes all of that, acknowledges the truth of it, and somehow pulls back the curtains to harness the joy and hope that's still there under the rubble. To me, Starkid in particular has always been about finding and holding onto the hope and the beauty and humanity that allows us to endure an existence that can so often feel bleak. And VHSCC is maybe the most perfect encapsulation of that idea.
So thank you Clark, James, Meredith, Brian, and everyone who worked so hard on this little bit of magic. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Let's make a little light.

Do you have any thoughts on making characters like Kim Possible more realistic for stories aside from aging her up? While still keeping the spirit of her, that is.
You can't make Kim Possible realistic because the superspy genre runs on implausibility, the superspy aspect of her persona only works in the genre's unrealistic space. If you try to run a superspy in a realistic world, you either get a dissociative psychopath or Jason Bourne (from the books, not the films) who is still pretty close to being a psychopath rather than your regular spy. To write a “realistic” Kim Possible, you'd end up with your run of the mill, hyper competitive, adrenaline junkie cheerleader without any superpowers or supergadgets and a school board that's not particularly thrilled with her antics. We're talking Buffy levels of burn down the high school. (Buffy did burn down a high school.)
The imporant thing to understand about Kim Possible if you want to deconstruct her character and pul her out of the genre where she currently works is that Kim isn't a character aged up. She's a character aged down and reformatted for a tween to teen audience. If I aged Kim Possible up, I'd have Get Smart's Ninety-Nine or a member of the original Charlie's Angels (take your pick) or a non-powered variant of Shego. Her contemporaries are the girls from Totally Spies, which are also a Charlie's Angels riff, and arguably even more insane than Kim is. To fully grasp Kim Possible as a character you want to write rather than a piece of media you consume is you have to understand her archetype and where all the pieces of her character come from. Those pieces are derived by material that proceeded her in the superspy genre.
This is what author's call a Lit Review.
When you find a character you like and want to use, instead of trying to copy what you see you go deeper into deconstruction. Deconstruction is just a fancy word that means you break everything down to it's base components and take it apart to understand how it works and functions as a whole so you can rebuild it in your own image. In the case of Kim Possible, a simple deconstruction isn't enough because she isn't a character, she's genre loci. (It fun play on genius loci, it means she's a personification of the genre rather than a person or place. She is by nature a formalistic entity, which means she only exists as part of the formula. That's why you're having difficulty writing her as a “realistic” character. Formalistic entities do not function in the real world.)
To understand Kim Possible as a character, you have to understand Kim Possible as a formula. Worse, you have to study two different genres because she's fusion of two different formulas that are both equally unrealistic. Fortunately, the superspy and the superhero genre have enough cross-bleed that you only need one. You'll have to do a comprehensive review of both the superspy genre and the teen dramedy genre (Saved by the Bell, 90210, Boy Meets World, Sweet Valley High, you know, the John Waters version of high school. If you've been consuming mainly CW dramas like the current iteration of Riverdale you have the wrong era and will have to start all over.) For a comprehensive lit review, you have to go all the way back to the beginning with the original James Bond and watch them in sequence, then watch Get Smart (by the time you get here, you'll have the same degree of contempt for Bond as Mel Brooks so that works in your favor), pay special attention to Ninety-Nine the original avatar of the female superspy, and then watch Charlie's Angels, the original TV show not the movies. By this point, you'll understand all the pieces that went into Kim's creation and then you'll be able to independently pull them out keep what you want.
If that sounds like a lot of work, you're right. Picking one isn't enough because she has pieces of all of them, and they're all influenced by their predecessor. Ninety-Nine is a direct reaction to the treatment of women in James Bond, and Charlie's Angels are an adaptation of Ninety-Nine as James Bond. A lot of female superspies are direct references to James Bond (whether they want to be or not) and Kim Possible is no exception. The show is full of James Bond injokes and many of her villains are direct references to Bond villains. The old Sean Connery Bond villains. (Much as it's in the name, you don't need either the original Mission Impossible or the film remakes. If you want to watch the Peter Graves era for an even more comprehensive experience, go right ahead.)
You don't understand Bond? You don't understand Kim.
Teenagers don't make for good spies in a realistic world. They're not emotionally mature enough to do the job. That's not an insult. When you're a teenager, your brain is still maturing, you're halfway to being an adult, but you're still growing into yourself and a lot of what you're experiencing you're experiencing for the first time. Experiences that feel like the end of the world to a teenager, are just Tuesday to an adult. You don't feel emotions the same at sixteen and twenty-five, or sixteen and thirty-five, part of that is experience and part of it is the intensity of our emotions decays over time. Adults are also better at hiding what emotions they do feel. These are all reasons why adults seem so unfeeling to teenagers.
Worse, for the realistic Kim, she comes from a stable home environment. She's got loving parents, appreciative, supportive friends, and lives a happy, well-adjusted life even without saving the world. She doesn't have the cynicism, suspicious nature, mercurial adaptable behaviors, and survival instincts that broken homes and abusive environments train in young. In the real world, evil passes itself off as good. There's no colorful costumes or villainous laughs or soundtrack to point out who you can't trust. The friendliest, nicest people are often the first to stab you in the back. Appearances deceive and ingrained biases cloud perception. Spies are not well-adjusted people or emotionally healthy. It's a lot easier to talk someone off a cliff if you are also on a cliff. The point of a spy is that they're a bad person. The superspy genre is an escape from the realities of being a spy and it was originally written by a former spy.
The kid from the broken home learns early that people behave differently in different environments, and they need to be wary until they determine if the person they think they can trust is someone they can actually trust. Often the most well-intentioned people make bad situations worse trying to resolve conflicts they've chosen not to understand. At the same time, people wear masks and not all secrets are nefarious. To be able to determine the difference between someone acting supiciously (hiding a secret) and someone who is actually nefarious takes practice. This is even a common subplot in teen mystery dramas for teenagers (and adults) to be misled by their own prejudices and their inability to tell the difference between types of suspicious behavior. There's the secrets that don't matter and the ones that'll get you killed and they can be the same secrets. Understanding the faceted nature of people, fully analyzing their personalities so you can predict their moves without being a fully mature person with your own experiences to draw from? That's hard. It's a difficult ask for adults who are professionals.
You can't keep Kim's optomism and turn her into a traditional spy. The traditional spy needs to both be able to see the worst in someone and then use that dark nature against them. They collect secrets and vulnerabilities so they can turn the average person into an asset later. They can't do everything themselves, they need to be comfortable with using people and with the part where using those same people will get them killed. There's elements here that do mimick high school, but it's a much more dangerous game with much higher stakes and a lot less room for error. A teenager this manipulative this young is either a narcisscist or a sociopath, and even then they won't have refined their manipulation to the point they can carry it off like an adult. (If you hav e a difficult time comprehending this concept, you are stilll a child. Enjoy it while you can.)
You also can't really do Kim Possible in the CW mold while keeping her Kim Possible. The same problems as the spy to superspy genre apply. The Vampire Diaries approach to teenagers is antithetical to the John Waters high school. Someone's going to have to be the cynic, half the cast are lovable assholes, evil will prevail over good on a regular basis, and everyone in the CW's world will be varying shades of gray with dark secrets. CW teenage dramas are gritty (and not particularly realistic either, even if they are entertaining.) You can't put James Bond and Frank Miller's Sin City in the same place and play them both straight. Superman's ideals and morals don't function properly in The Boys universe. That optomistic view of humanity isn't supported. If you want optomism in your narrative, you need to fight for it.
An optomistic character can succeed in a cynical world and keep their optomism while making tragic mistakes, but they need to be supported by the author and story's structure. A careful balance has to be maintained between hope and darkness, and it is very easy to go past a character's point of no return. It's easy to become cynical, it's easy to embrace nihilism especially in the face of tragedy. Kim Possible is not a character designed around the idea of moral fortitude. She's not a character who has to fight for her beliefs in a dark world. She doesn't have articulated morals or a philosophical outlook, she just does what she thinks is right. A character doing what they think is right in a cynical story sets the stage for events to fall apart in a tragic ending.
The question is, do you want a realistic version of Kim Possible or do you want a version that you feel is going to be more serious, and literary, and will be accepted? As much as it's currently in vogue, cynicsm and nihilism aren't automatically better or more mature storytelling.
Kim Possible is accepted. Kim Possible being unrealistic is not a failure of the material. She's supposed to be a teenage comedy pastiche of the superspy genre. She works because she embraces both genres in all their corny cheesiness wholeheartedly and without irony. Even when Kim Possible is at its most tongue and cheek, Kim herself is never the joke. The mirror between Kim and Shego is intentional. It's good practice to have your villain be a jaded, cynical, dark version of your protagonist (with better comedic timing.) Shego is cynical so Kim can be optomistic.
Kim's ideals and morals are designed for a more hopeful world than the one we live in and that's fine. James Bond is one of the most iconic film heroes of all time. Get Smart and Charlie's Angels are both beloved to this day. Kim Possible and Totally Spies were successful media properties. A market exists for teenage superspies. While Harriet the Spy is probably the closest to a “realistic” Kim Possible you're going to get, I think you're looking for something else, something more adrenaline filled, something exciting, and that's okay.
You don't need realism. You need a world that feels plausible enough your audience will embrace it. That's just good worldbuilding and understanding your genre. You don't need to be the next Game of Thrones, you don't need to be (the new) Casino Royale. Don't be embarassed by the silliness, don't be worried if the story is serious enough, skip off into the sunset with your catchy theme song and naked mole rat. Tell the story you want, the story that you love.
And do your reading (and watching) because the more you understand, the better you write. If you can't take Kim Possible at her worst (Roger Moore) you don't deserve her at her best.
-Michi

Take Me Home, Country Roads. James Hetfield X Fem!Reader
“I hear her voice in the morning hours, she calls me. The radio reminds me of my home far away.”
(the words that are bolded are a flashback!!)
word count: 2,683
warnings: age gap (James is 27 and reader is like 22-23), country James, public sex??, makeout sesh, p in v sex (PROTECTED!! FINALLY!!)
Everyone in town knew him. The second they saw that black Chevrolet 454SS driving down the dirt road, all of the girls followed behind his truck barefoot and in their short denim shorts and bathing suit tops trying to see where he was staying at and try and see if it had any availability - even though their homes were right down the street.
The last time he was here, I had just started my job at the diner and only seen him outside talking to some girls. My dad worked on his farm and my mom was a librarian, meaning by the time they got home I was leaving for work. But yesterday I had seen him drive past me as I walked to work and we made eye contact for a split second and when I got to work I recognized the black truck in the parking lot.
“Hey, I got a table over there for you. Only one guy, shouldn’t be too much trouble.” Terri said and pointed over to the table, I turned my head and saw the familiar face and sighed. I grabbed a menu and walked over to him. “Welcome, here's a menu. Can I get you started with something to drink?” I said and set the menu down in front of him. “You guys serve alcohol?” He asked “We have beer? Only in cans…” I replied “I’ll take a Budweiser.” he replied, “Great, I’ll be back with that shortly.” I said, smiled, and walked back behind the counter. I grabbed the beer and walked back over to his table and set the beer down on the table and opened it.
“Decide what you want to eat yet?” I asked, “I’ll just have some fries.” He said and closed the menu and handed it to me. I noticed the notebook he had in front of him and a pen, “Whatcha writin’?” I asked “Trying to come up with song lyrics, but nothin’’s comin’ to me.” he said and rubbed his head “Well there’s plenty of inspiration around town if that kinda stuff helps you.” I said and smiled, “Thanks…” he looked at my name tag “…Y/N.” he said and smiled “Your welcome stranger.” I said and walked to the kitchen to get the fries.
I stepped into the kitchen and saw Terri and Paul (the cook) standing there smiling and looking at me. “What?” I asked, “You sure were gettin’ friendly with Mr. Hetfield out there.” Terri said and grinned even more “Mr. Hetfield?” I asked “James Hetfield? Lead singer of Metallica? Grammy winner? Millionaire?” Paul said, looking slightly offended. “Doesn’t ring a bell,” I said and set the menu down and walked over to the fries and picked them up. “I’m sure your daddy listens to his band, you probably should too. He’s quite famous ‘round here.” Terri said and smiled as I walked out of the kitchen.
“Here's your fries!” I said and handed them to him. “Thanks,” he said and smiled. I looked back at his notebook again and noticed some words written down. “Looks like you got something there.” I said and pointed to his notebook “Yeah, just a starting point. You like music?” he asked “Love it.” I replied he leaned back against the booth he was sitting in, “Who do you like?” he asked, I thought for a moment “I like The Doors, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac…” I replied, “Yeah there good, you listen to anything heavier than that?” He asked and smirked “I’m sure I’ve listened to some of your songs if that's what you’re implying.” I replied and laughed.
James laughed “I couldn’t tell if you were catching on to who I was.” he said “I knew who you were, I just assumed you didn’t want me to make a big deal out of it.” I replied “You’re right. Every other girl here has been jumping on me and yelling in my ear. It’s nice to meet someone a little tamer.” He said and smiled. Suddenly the kitchen door swung open and Terri walked over to the table, “Hello! Sorry, this one right here loves to talk everyone’s ear off!” Terri put her hand on my shoulder “I’m sure you need to get back to whatever you’re up to Mr. Hetfield so I’ll bring you the bill now.” Terri smiled and kept her hand on my shoulder as she walked me back into the kitchen.
“What the hell?” I asked her “You need to be careful with rockstars like that, they want one thing and one thing only. I’m just lookin’ out for ya dear that's all.” Terri said “I guess you’re right. Thanks Ter.” I said and smiled “Your welcome baby, I’m gonna go give him his check and your shift ends in about ten minutes but - I’ll let ya leave early. It’s already past midnight.” she said and grabbed his check off the counter and walked out of the kitchen.
I grabbed my bag and clocked out before walking out of the back door and starting my walk back home. After five minutes or so I heard the hum of a truck and turned my head to see James driving up next to me. He stopped the truck and rolled down the window “Need a ride home?” he asked “Uhh, sure! Thanks!” I got in the truck and set my bag in my lap. I gave him the directions to get to my house and for most of the ride it was silent, but I could see out of the corner of my eye James looking at me. “Soo..” I began “How long are you gonna be in town?” I asked him “A couple more days. Maybe two or three.” He replied “Oh, where are ya headed to after that?” I asked again “San Francisco. Bay Area.” he said “Oh, I’ve never been.” I replied and he looked at me “You’ve never been?” he said, shocked “Nope, never left this town before.” I said and he shook his head “Aren’t ya bored here?” He asked “I mean, kinda…but everyone I know is here. So, it’s not like im lonely ya know.” I said and he nodded.
Finally, we pulled up next to my mailbox. I grabbed my bag and as I began to open my door James started to speak. “I would love to see you again. You got any plans tomorrow night?” he asked “No, I’m off work tomorrow since it’s Saturday.” I replied “I’m thinkin’ of going down to the lake to fish tomorrow evenin’. Wanna come?” he asked “Sure. I’ll give you my number.” I said and reached in my bag and grabbed a napkin and a pen. After I wrote my number down I handed it back to James. “Thanks for the ride home Mr. Hetfield.” I said “Please, call me James.” he said and smiled
“Alright, goodnight James.” I said “Night Y/N.” he said and smiled.
That was last night, and I couldn’t stop thinking about him. He had never affected me before when I would see him at the grocery store, or at the bar, so why did he seem like all that to me now? When I woke up - he was the first thing I thought about, and the plans me and him had made. I went downstairs and saw both my parents sitting at the dining table. “There she is! Good morning!” my mom said as I walked over to the table “Mornin’ mama.” I said as she kissed my forehead “Mornin’ daddy.” I said to my dad and he looked over the newspaper at me “Mornin’ baby doll. How was work last night?” he asked.
“It was…nice.” I replied “Anything fun happen?” He asked, just as my mom came around the corner with a plate of pancakes and a glass of orange juice that she set down in front of me before walking back over to her chair next to my dad “Well actually, I met that rockstar that comes into town.” I said, my dad closed his newspaper. “Oh really?” he said “Yeah, he gave me a ride home too.” I said as I looked down at my pancakes.
“You let a boy take you home? After midnight?” my dad asked “Yeah, he invited me to go fishing with him this evenin’.” I said, “And you think your going?” My dad asked “Dad, I’m an adult now I can make my own decisions.” I said “It’s just…well…you know how those rockstars are, we’ve heard the stories. I just don’t want you to get hurt baby thats all.” he said “I won’t, he seems sweet.” I replied. “Exactly, he “seems sweet”. Doesn’t mean he is.” my mom butt-in. “Mama…” I said “I told you I dated a boy in a band before right?” my mom started “Oh mama not one of these stories, please.” I begged.
“Harold Manchester. He played the bass in his brother’s band, and I would watch him play at every gig. Then, he would go out and drink like fish with his buddies after and leave me all alone. I don’t want that for you.” My mom said “Momma, none of his bandmates are in town. It’s just him.” I said and took a sip of my orange juice.
“I want you home no later than 11:30 you hear me young lady?” my dad said “Yes sir.” I replied “Alright, me and your Momma will be at work - so call one of us as soon as you get home.” He said and I nodded.
Shortly after breakfast they both left for work. There was some kind of charity event at the library and my dad was going to the bar to watch a football game with his buddies.
The evening came a lot faster than I expected. I put on a pair of jeans and a brown belt, and a white t-shirt that sat right above my belly button and a pair of white sneakers. I curled my hair and put on my favorite blue eyeshadow and mascara and pink lipgloss. I heard James honking downstairs so I sprayed some perfume and quickly ran downstairs to meet him. I walked over to his truck and hopped in the passenger side. “Ready to go?” he asked and I nodded.
The drive was quick, James told me about the song that he had come up with last night and how he just needed to figure out the guitar chords to go along with it. Once we arrived he pulled into a parking spot (a patch of dirt) and we both got out. He placed the back of his truck down and grabbed his fishing supplies from the bed of it. “You can sit here if you’d like.” he said and pointed to the part he had laid down earlier. I jumped onto it and watched as James set all of his things up.
“James?” I asked as he casted his first line. “Yep?” he asked “Why are you fishing at night? Haven’t the fish gone to sleep?” I asked and James laughed “Some of em’ stay up.” he said as he finished chuckling. “You wanna try?” he asked and looked back at me. “Sure!” I said and got off the back of the truck and walked over to him. He handed me the rod and stood behind me. “You ever fish before?” he asked “Yeah, when I was way younger though. My grandpa had a creek near his house that he brought me to fish at.” I said “That’s nice. Haven’t done it since then?” he asked again “Nope. No one’s wanted to take me since then.” I said and turned my head to look at James and smile. It took a long time before there was finally a tug and I reeled it in.
Me and James both laughed when we realized that I had just caught a beer can. We sat down on the back of James truck and talked as we sipped on a can of beer James had brought. Eventually James looked up to the sky “See all em’ stars?” he asked and I looked up “Yep.” I replied “Crazy that they’re real big, but look so small to us.” James said, I thought about it for a moment “Yeah, that is crazy…” I said. I looked back down at my beer, then noticed James looking at me in the corner of my eye. I looked over at him “What?” I asked and laughed “Nothin’ you’re just real pretty.” he said and I could feel my face begin to heat up. “Thank you James. You’re not too bad yourself.” I said, James scooted closer to me. “Can I kiss you?” he asked, I tucked my hair behind my ear and looked at James.
“Sure.” I replied, James brought his hand up to the side of my face and brought his face closer to mine before finally closing the space between us by putting his lips on mine. I got up on my knees without breaking the kiss and straddled myself on James’ lap. He placed his hands on my hips as he continued to kiss me, before slowly rocking me back and forth on his lap. I could feel the sudden rise in his pants and broke the kiss to look down, noticing the very evident tent in his jeans.
“James.” I said, trying to catch my breath. “Yeah?” he replied “You got a rubber?” I asked and he smiled. He reached into back pocket and pulled one out and began to unbuckle his belt. In the meantime I started to undo my belt and take off my jeans and t-shirt leaving me in my pink panties and white bra. James ran his hand up the sides of my waist. “You’ve done this before?” he asked “It’s been awhile, but I know what to do James.” I said and smirked. James kissed me again.
I brought myself up and placed one hand around his shaft and moved it to where my hole was before sinking down on it. James kissed the sides of my mouth as I let out a shaky moan. He wrapped his arm around my waist and helped lift me up and down on him.
I placed my hands on his shoulder for support myself. James grunted every time I would come back down on him, “Fuck, so pretty baby.” he said “James..fuck…” I whined “It’s okay baby, your taking me so fuckin’ good.” he said. I tilted my head back and James picked up the pace, and the stars in the sky weren’t the only stars I was seeing anymore.
“James…I’m so close…” I said “Cum for me baby.” James said, and seconds later my vision went white and my body fell onto James shoulder. I regained myself as James calmed me down by running his finger up and down my spine, just as the cold nighttime air blew onto us. James brought his hand over to my chin to make me look at him.
“Come to San Fransisco with me…” he said “What?” I asked him “I can’t stand not seeing you baby, come with me. I can pay for your flight and you can stay with me.” He tucked my hair behind my ear. “James, everything I know is here.” I said “I know, but you’re all I want now. You’re what I was writing that song about.” he said, my gaze towards him softened. “Me?” I asked quickly “Yeah baby, you - you’re the inspiration for the music.” he said and smiled. I leaned in and kissed him quickly.
“James…I’ll think about it.” I said and looked at him “Alright, promise me you’ll think hard?” he asked, “I promise.” I said and gave him one final kiss.

Pairing(s) - billy Hargrove x fem!reader (past), Steve harrington x fem!reader
Summary- after the end of your 2 year long relationship with billy you finally go on a date again and realize how horrible billy really was to you.
Warnings - mentions of a toxic relationship
Masterlist
I sighed as I looked at myself in the mirror, this was my first date I was going on since I broke up with Billy and somehow, I can't shake all the old habits I used to have. he hated when I wore heals absolutely hated them because he said they made me taller than I actually was. I slip them off not knowing if Steve had the same preference. I decide on a pair of Mary janes that still had a heal but wasn't that tall it was barely an inch. this was just a first date down at the coffee shop around the corner, but I still felt this overwhelming pressure to look good.
I put my favorite cassette into my Walkman. Billy hated this song, and he always made it known when I listened to it. "God why do you like this shit" he'd mutter every time. I decided on walking to the coffee shop since it was a nice day, and the coffee shop was just down the road.
when I arrive, I assume Steve would be late because Billy always was. I just assumed all men didn't care about punctuality. but when I open the door Steve's sitting at a table in the far back corner. the bell from the top of the door pulls his thoughts from the menu he was looking at. he looks up and waves me over. when I walk to the table, he gets up pulling the chair across from his out for me. I smile, Billy never did this for me. "Thank you" he shakes his head as I take a seat "it's not problem."
'you dont understand how nice that is, but i do'
he throws his head back laughing when I tell a joke that I didn't think he'd find funny because Billy never did. he always said I wasn't funny, but Steve thought I was. "it's not that funny" I giggled as I push a piece of my hair back behind my ear. he continues to laugh, and I can't help but admire how handsome he looks. I've spent the last I don't know how long believing that love was a horrible thing that I never wanted to do again but right here in this coffee shop everything changed. it was like everything I ever experienced with Billy was erased and I was able to begin again.
James Taylor was my favorite singer and somehow was Steves too. "I've never met a girl who has as many James Taylor records as me" he laughs after I told him about my collection. Billy would've found that as me trying to say I was better than him in some type of way, but Steve doesn't. I laugh "ma-maybe you could come over one day and I Dunno check'em out" I say with a shrug he nods "yeah, yeah that would be fun."
he tells stories about his friends and his family and thinks it's weird I'm coming off a little shy. I was used to listening and not talking with Billy. "Are-are you alright?" he asks his brows furrowed together; I shake my head "ye-yeah I'm fine i-i I'm sorry" I mumble "it's alright you don't gotta be shy around me" he whispers.
as he walks me down the block to my house, I almost bring Billy up trying to forgive Steve for my nervousness, but he brings up the movies that he and his friends watch every Christmas and I want to talk about that. "Yeah, and we watch the grinch every year on the 24th and all the kids come and robin and Eddie too and shit its cool" he laughs. for the first time what's past is past and I don't want to bring Billy up anymore. I don't want to pretend I don't like my favorite artist or pretend I don't love wearing high heels for a man who wouldn't even kiss me. "y'know I really like you and I'd really like to do this again" Steve says as we stop in front of my house "I really like you too" I whisper as I look down at the ground flustered. he places his hand on my chin pushing it up so I'm making eye contact with you. "Can I kiss you?" he asks I nod before leaning in and pressing my lips to him.

I finally watched VHS Christmas Carol Live last night, and I loved it! I wanted to give some initial thoughts:
The music SLAPS! Like, so good! I'm not usually much of an 80's pop person, but honestly it was bop after bop the whole time. Bah Humbug, That Scrooge, Christmas Electricity, and Priceless were all highlights for me. I think what sold it for me was how lyrically tight it was, and how strong the emotions were. Telling a story entirely through song is no easy feat, but they absolutely nailed the structure and pacing.
Speaking of the emotions, Christmas Carol has been adapted so many times, that it's really important to hit all the emotional beats to sell the spirit of the story, and VHS delivers. I feel like many adaptations go all in on the misery, regret, and sorrow of the story, and only really bring the cheer and warmth in at the very end. VHS really embraces not only the somber parts of the tale, but the joyful parts too. Fezziwig's Chistmas party, Fred's party, and the Crachit's family dinner all really portray the joyfullness of the season and how that joyfullness can come from many places. It really strengthens the message of the story in a way that adaptations focused only on the bleak aspects miss.
In terms of actual story decisions, VHS really sticks to the classic story very closely and does it really well. Actual story changes are few and far between, but the ones they included I really liked. I loved the addition of the couple who are thankful that Scrooge died because it relieves their debt. It really highlights that Crachit and his family are not the only people affected by Scrooge's greed. Many adaptations either like to forget he's a landlord, or don't unpack the ethics of landlords, so it was nice to see some sort of acknowledgment of Scrooge's less direct and more systemic impact. I also really liked how Scrooge delivered the turkey to the Crachit's in secret, and didn't give Bob his raise until after Christmas instead of barging in unannounced. I had never really thought about it before, but in most versions he does just kind of barge in on their celebration and make a big production of giving Bob a raise. I like how he let them have their celebration in peace and spent more time with Fred.
The performances were all killer. I know it kinda goes without saying at this point, but everyone in the cast in Starkid shows are always so talented. Special mention to James Tolbert, because I feel like he doesn't get enough recognition for what a talented actor, dancer, and choreographer (and director) he is. This was also my first time seeing Janaya Mahealani Jones in anything, and her Belle really blew me away. Other stand-outs for me were Dylan Saunders' Scrooge, Lauren Lopez and Joey Ritcher's Crachits, and Jaime Lyn Beatty's Ghost of Christmas Past, but really everyone knocked it out of the park.
June Saito's costumes! The 80s themeing was outstandingly executed, and the quick changes were really impressive. I've gotten used to the more realistic and toned down costumes that fit the Hatchetfield shows' setting (which are also fantastic, not trying to minimize those), but between this and the LiB's in NPMD, it's wonderful to see June Saito get to really go over the top. Special mention to Marley's costume (silver chain pants? silver chain pants!), the 3 spirit's silver and blue color themeing, and that sequined suit jacket Scrooge wears at the end of the show.
Overall, really good. Might pay for the VHS Carols digital ticket later today and watch it.

Not sure if you could dance to this, but the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's version of Carol of the Bells goes extremely hard. Would recommend a listen if you aren't familiar with it.
I am
NOT
Doing THAT
until I HAVE
an INHALER!
My girlfriend would kill me if the asthma attack didn't first.
I'm between two songs by James Whetzel. His cover of Greensleeves is pretty dope, but I'm leaning more towards 'God Rest Ye Funky Bhangra' because that drum hits me in a good place.

The Legend of the Princess Augusta or the Palatine Ship
The legend goes back to the historic shipwreck of the Princess Augusta at Block Island in 1738. The ship is known from several contemporary accounts and from statements made by the surviving crew after the sinking, which were discovered in 1925 and reprinted in 1939. The British merchant ship Augusta sailed from Rotterdam in August 1738 under Captain George Long and a crew of fourteen, carrying 240 immigrants to the English colonies in America. The passengers were German Palatines who came from the Palatinate, which is why the ship was referred to as the "Palatine Ship" in contemporary documents, which explains the later confusion about the name. The ship was on its way to Philadelphia, from where the passengers were possibly travelling to a German-owned settlement on the James River in Virginia.
Tumblr media
The Burning Ship, by Albert Bierstadt 1869
The Princess Augusta's voyage was ill-fated: The water supply was contaminated, causing a "fever and flux disease" that killed 200 passengers and half the crew, including Captain Long. First Officer Andrew Brook took command when severe storms forced the ship off course to the north, where the survivors were exposed to extreme weather conditions and dwindling supplies for three months. According to the crew, Brook forced the passengers to pay for the remaining rations. Apparently he tried different routes to Rhode Island and Philadelphia, but the storms drove the damaged and leaking Augusta to Block Island. She ran aground in a snowstorm at Sandy Point at the northernmost end of the island at 2 p.m. on 27 December 1738.
According to reports, Brook rowed to shore with the entire crew and abandoned the passengers on board. The Block Islanders apparently did what they could to help. They convinced Brook to let the passengers disembark the next day, and later retrieved their belongings when he left them on board. They also buried about 20 people who died after the shipwreck; the Block Island Historical Society erected a memorial plaque at the site of the "Palatine Graves" in 1947.
The authorities took statements from the crew, but what happened afterwards is unclear. Apparently the crew was not charged for their actions, and they and most of the surviving passengers made it to the mainland, from where little is known about them. Two survivors remained on Block Island and settled there. Most reports indicate that the ship was deemed unsalvageable and was forced out to sea to sink. It may have been set on fire to sink it. According to some reports, a woman, sometimes referred to as Mary Van Der Line, was driven mad by her suffering; she was forgotten and sank with the ship, according to these reports. However, no remains of the wreck have ever been found, and there are indications that the Augusta may have been repaired and sent on to Philadelphia.
Tumblr media
There is a rich oral tradition of this event, and numerous sightings were reported in the late 18th and 19th centuries. The legend was immortalised by the poet John Greenleaf Whittier in "The Palatine", which faithfully reproduces the traditional story in verse. Which gave the Legend it's name. On Saturdays between Christmas and New Year's Eve, locals still sporadically report seeing a burning ship pass by. Folklorist Michael Bell, investigating the legend, found that almost a year after the incident, two versions of the night's events were circulated.
Tumblr media
The Palatine Graves
The Block Islanders insisted that their citizens had made a valiant attempt to rescue the crew, while the New England mainlanders suspected the islanders of having lured the ship to them in order to seize their cargo. Both legends agreed that a female passenger had refused to abandon ship when it sank, and those who claim to have witnessed her reappearance say that her screams were heard from the ship.
Today, a plaque at the Mohegan Bluffs where the ship is said to have run aground reads: Palatine Graves - 1738. Some claim that those who died that night are buried underground. However, Charlotte Taylor of the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission has stated that no physical evidence has ever been found to support either this claim or the legend itself.

¡ marauders masterlist !
you had gotten used to your stepbrothers inappropriate touching.
when you go out to the dance floor at the club, james pulled you close by your waist, pressing your body against him as the loud music of the club rings through your ears. “I just love you,” he said when you questioned him after he kissed you, swaying his hips with yours. “I want you to be safe,” he pushed your hair back and grabbed your chin, “y’know we can’t trust strangers.” you nodded dumbly, letting him squeeze your ass as he introduced you as his girlfriend, kissing your lips slowly and softly whenever he could.
it was normal when he slid his hand up your thigh until he pinky was flush to your clothes pussy as you sat side by side on bar stools. he flicked his pinky against your clit, stimulating you. it was just like dinner time at home, only now you we’re too intoxicated to keep yourself from bucking your hips against his hand and digging your nails into his bicep as you neared your high.
he handed you drink after drink, pressuring you even when you felt you reached your limit. “jamie,” you whined, disoriented and far too drunk, “enough. want to go home.” he smiled, pulling you close with his hands on your ass, slipping his tongue into your mouth. you were too intoxicated to reciprocate, so you just let it happen, happy to see his sweet smile when he pulled away.
james lead you to your bed when you made it home, helping you stay up when your drunken self wanted to plop onto the ground. you sighed as he peeled your clothes off, groping your flesh and kissing it. your fingers tangled in his hair, blissed out as he swirled his tongue through your folds and over your your swollen clit. his long fingers would prep your tight little hole, pushing in and out.
by the time your hazy mind recovered from your orgasm, james’ clothes were gone, littering the ground with yours. “james, this is wrong,” you whispered, “mom and dad will hear.”
“keep your mouth shut then.” your parents weren’t home and he knew that, he just loved to see you struggle.
“but james-“ you started, gasping as you tried to hold in a moan when the angry head of his cock tapped your sensitive clit.
“you’re so wet for me already,” he growls, “your greedy little pussy can’t get enough of me.”
“james, no,” you slurred, pushing at his muscular chest. your cunt throbbed as he neared your hole, pushing against it but not entering. “ah, fuck,” you whined, “jamie.”
you aren’t sure when he pushed in or when he started his brutal fucking. the sound of skin colliding with skin echoed off the walls along with your loud, high mewls and his animalistic grunts.
your mind would go blank again and you’d come back when he was filling you up, thrusting at a brutal pace. you yelped at the sudden pain, clutching his shoulders before blacking out again.
the next morning you awoke in wrapped in sticky sheets, tucked in and naked, cum leaking from your hole still. you waddled to the kitchen, rubbing your eyes, listening to james blabber to your father about what a fun night the two of you had.

The actor Lou Gossett Jr, who has died aged 87, is best known for his performance in An Officer and A Gentleman (1982) as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley, whose tough training transforms recruit Richard Gere into the man of the film’s title. He was the first black winner of an Academy Award for best supporting actor, and only the third black actor (after Hattie McDaniel and Sidney Poitier) to take home any Oscar.
The director, Taylor Hackford, said he cast Gossett in a role written for a white actor, following a familiar Hollywood trope played by John Wayne, Burt Lancaster, Victor McLaglen or R Lee Ermey, because while researching he realised the tension of “black enlisted men having make-or-break control over whether white college graduates would become officers”. Gossett had already won an Emmy award playing a different sort of mentor, the slave Fiddler who teaches Kunta Kinte the ropes in Roots (1977), but he was still a relatively unknown 46-year-old when he got his breakthrough role, despite a long history of success on stage and in music as well as on screen.
Born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, Louis was the son of Helen (nee Wray), a nurse, and Louis Sr, a porter. As a child he suffered from polio, but became a high school athlete before a basketball injury led to his joining the drama club. His teacher encouraged him to audition professionally, and at 17 he was on Broadway playing a troubled child in Take a Giant Step, which won him a Donaldson award for best newcomer.
He won a drama scholarship to New York University, but continued working, in The Desk Set (1955), and made his television debut in two episodes of the NBC anthology show The Big Story. In 1959 he was cast with Poitier and Ruby Dee in Raisin in the Sun, and made his film debut reprising his role in 1961. On Broadway that year he played in Jean Genet’s The Blacks, in an all-star cast with James Earl Jones, Cicely Tyson, Roscoe Lee Brown, Godfrey Cambridge and a young Maya Angelou; it was the decade’s longest-running show.
Gossett was also active in the Greenwich Village folk music scene. He released his first single Hooka Dooka, Green Green in 1964, followed by See See Rider, and co-wrote the anti-war hit Handsome Johnny with Richie Havens. In 1967 he released another single, a drums and horns version of Pete Seeger’s anti-war hymn Where Have All the Flowers Gone. He was in the gospel musical Tambourines to Glory (1963) and in producer Mike Todd’s America, Be Seated at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.
His plays became more limited: The Zulu and the Zayda and My Sweet Charlie; the very short run of Carry Me Back to Morningside Heights, in which he played a black man owning a white slave; and a revival of Golden Boy (1964), with Sammy Davis Jr. His final Broadway part was as the murdered Congolese leader Patrice Lamumba, in Conor Cruise O’Brien’s Murderous Angels (1971). Gossett had played roles in New York-set TV series such as The Naked City, but he began to make a mark in Hollywood, despite LAPD officers having handcuffed him to a tree, on “suspicion”, in 1966.
On TV he starred in The Young Rebels (1970-71) set in the American revolution. In film, he was good as a desperate tenant in Hal Ashby’s Landlord (1970) and brilliant with James Garner in Skin Game (1971), taking part in a con trick in which Garner sells him repeatedly into slavery then helps him to escape.
In 1977, alongside Roots, he attracted attention as a memorable villain in Peter Yates’s hit The Deep, and got artistic revenge on the LAPD in Robert Aldrich’s The Choirboys. The TV movie of The Lazarus Syndrome (1979) became a series in which Gossett played a realistic hospital chief of staff set against an idealistic younger doctor. He played the black baseball star Satchel Paige in the TV movie Don’t Look Back (1981); years later he had a small part as another Negro League star, Cool Papa Bell, in The Perfect Game (2009).
After his Oscar, he played another assassinated African leader, in the TV mini-series Sadat, reportedly approved for the role by Anwar Sadat’s widow Jihan. Though he remained a busy working actor, good starring roles in major productions eluded him, as producers fell back on his drill sergeant image. He was Colonel “Chappy” Sinclair in Iron Eagle (1986) and its three dismal sequels.
But in 1989 he starred in Dick Wolf’s TV series Gideon Oliver, as an anthropology professor solving crimes in New York. And he won a best supporting actor Golden Globe for his role in the TV movie The Josephine Baker Story (1991). He revisited the stage in the film adaptation of Sam Shepard’s Curse of the Starving Class (1994).
Gossett twice received the NAACP’s Image Award, and another Emmy for producing a children’s special, In His Father’s Shoes (1997). In 2006 he founded the Eracism Foundation, providing programmes to foster “cultural diversity, historical enrichment and anti-violence initiatives”. Despite an illness eventually linked to toxic mould in his Santa Monica home, he kept working with a recurring part in Stargate SG-1 (2005-06). A diagnosis of prostate cancer in 2010 hardly slowed him down.
Most recently, he played Will “Hooded Justice” Reeves in the TV series Watchmen (2019), in the series Kingdom Business, about the gospel music industry, and in the 2023 musical remake of The Color Purple.
His first marriage, to Hattie Glascoe, in 1967, was annulled after five months; his second, to Christina Mangosing, lasted for two years from 1973; and his third, to Cyndi (Cynthia) James, from 1987 to 1992. He is survived by two sons, Satie, from his second marriage, and Sharron, from his third.

Paper rings ♡ remus lupin x reader
Tumblr media
you were absolutely losing it in arithmancy. it was insane that sirius had managed to get all of you to take a glorified maths class, but he did, and now, you were here with all of your friends, absolutely bored out of your mind.
james was doodling something on lily's hand, sirius was doodling something on james' hand, peter was trying to remember the movements to apple on a stick, you were silently watching everything, and remus was writing and simultaneously folding paper.
your eyes focused in on remus' hands. harsh scribbles of rushed handwriting, followed by gentle but strong creases. he was usually so pragmatic, but as you watched him now, you understood that it was just a cover up for something fierce and similar to the altruistic version of him you meet before every full moon.
you could get lost in knowing him, and unbeknownst to you, he could get lost in knowing you; countless handpicked bouquets lie flattened in a small paper journal under his bed, in between pages of 3am realisations and love letters. he's bewildered by you in a way you could never even begin to comprehend. his whole existence is a love letter to you; every waking moment he spends is an ineluctable confession of something so profound, he doesn't even have a clue as to how it happened.
it could have been that very first day, when you were both waiting to be sorted. he was anxious and worrying, just like he always has been, and you were caring and gentle, just like you've always been. or maybe it was the night after you found out about his dilemma; he didn't know that someone could care about him like that. hundreds and thousands of moments where all he can think about is his love for you.
"hey remus! are those rings???" and suddenly, james has awoken the both of you from a shared quintessential lull.
two small paper rings hang from his fingers, and before you know it, sirius is between the two of you reciting wedding vows as if it was his birthright while james starts mimicking wedding bells. remus begins to anticipate a red flush all over his freckles as sirius makes crude comments: "we all know the three rings. engagement ring, wedding ring and suffer-ring." and lily just watches, half judgementally like she always does, and the other half in somewhat awe that her insane friend is now an acting minister.
remus is still lost in a blur, james is giggling and clapping (he wholeheartedly supports the matrimony), lily is trying to work on her report, while also trying to make a sarcastic comment every now and then, and sirius is asking you if you take remus' hand in marriage.
"do you promise to take care of your husband through sickness and in health?"
"always," you respond with added flair.
"the line is i do??? maybe i should be the bride instead."
when remus finally comes to, you've agreed to be his wife and james hasn't stopped talking about how this is a match made in heaven and sirius is telling you both to kiss. so he does what he does in all awkward situations: freeze. and so you do what you do in all awkward situations: make the whole scenario 10x more awkward by attempting to carry him bridal style, making the whole legal contract "thing" completely binding in sirius and james' eyes.
when you finally manage to leave class, you two are in seemingly connected, strung together by an invisible string called sirius black's persistence and james potter's support, the true foundations of any healthy marriage.
if he can't profess his undying love for you, he will just have to wear a small paper ring for the rest of his life (and let sirius and james make fun of him).

DP/DC Week Day 3 - Eldritch Entities/The worst person to put in charge of teens is another teenager
Part 3 of my Danny gets mistaken as Jason’s clone AU! You can read the past two day’s entries for some more context, but it’ll probably be fine if you don’t. But you do need to know that Danny is going to be referred to as James, since he didn’t want to tell the world’s greatest detectives his real name.
Warning I guess? Brief mention of vivisection and starvation. Mention of throwing up at the very end.
Let’s hope that the YJ cartoon Conner and Bart’s personalities are similar enough to the comic version because that’s the best basis I have for their personalities ;-;
Tim may or may not have made a mistake when he decided to call Conner and Bart to tell them about Jason’s new clone. He definitely should’ve expected them to instantly come over to see said clone.
Bart was bouncing off the walls of the dinning room excitedly, “Jason got cloned-I can’t believe Jason of all people got cloned-do you?”
“I can, even if he doesn’t have any powers he’d probably be good to clone for political reasons right?” Conner speculated, “Right Tim?”
“But then why is the clone a child?” Tim was hunched over his computer, biting his lip, trying to find out more about the GIW.
“James-the clone-said that the GIW had done experiments on ghosts, and that they could tell that Jason is undead. So they might’ve created James to do experiments on him that they couldn’t do on Jason themselves.”
“Or turn him into a weapon,” Conner said with a hint of sadness and anger in his voice.
“It’s probably both,” Bart added. The other two nodded in agreement.
Not even a second passed before Jason came in, holding James by his shirt collar. Jason clearly took Bruce’s advice to get him new clothes. He was wearing a white polo shirt and black bell bottoms. But he still had the same black gloves and boots on as before.
Tim still didn’t look at his face. He didn’t want to see…whatever it was that made him think that James’s was uncanny valley incarnate. That would be rude.
“Tim, I need you to-oh hey!” Jason stopped in his tracks and looked over to the group, “This is perfect, Tim, Conner, Bart too I guess, I need you guy to look after the kid while I’m gone.”
“Wait, where are you going that’s more important than, I dunno, keeping an eye on your own clone?” Tim questioned.
“It’s a long story. But, that’s why I’m leaving him here with you-“
“Hi,” James waved at the group.
“-The best person to put in charge of a teenager is another teenager.”
“I don’t think that’s right exactly,” Bart said, “Buuut, the best person to be in charge of a clone, is another clone right?” He looked over at Conner expectingly.
“That guy’s a clone?” James looked to Jason for an answer as he pointed at Conner.
“Yes I am. Although it already seems that you have a…much better relationship with the guy you’re cloned from than I do,” Conner sighed.
“Can we kick his teeth in then?”
“Jason, what are you teaching the child?” Tim groaned.
“Self care. Anyways-“ Jason let go of James, “-I’m off. See ya.” And then he left, leaving James in the trio’s care.
“So…can I kick the guy’s teeth in? Who was the uh, guy who you were cloned from anyways?”
“It was actually two guys-“ Bart started before Tim interrupted him.
“It doesn’t matter, you’re not kicking anyone’s teeth in before you tell us more about the GIW.”
“Tim, be easy on him,” Conner recommended, “You don’t want to scare him away now do you?”
“Oh it’s fine. I mean, the worst thing they did to me that I can remember is vivisect me, so it’s fine.”
“Is that like dissection-“ Bart started to ask before being interrupted yet again.
“Yeah it’s exactly like dissection but on a living thing. I didn’t get any of those things that make it do you didn’t feel pain either. That sucked almost as much as being starved for like, a week. That was not a good week.”
Silence filled the room as the three processed what James told them.
“Tell us everything single thing you know about the GIW,” Conner demanded.
“Sure!” James said. Then he smiled. Tim made the mistake of looking at him while he did and recoiled all the way off his chair. Luckily, Bart was able to catch him before he hit the ground.
“Why is looking at your face like looking at  a Lovecraftian god?!” Tim cried.
“I have that effect on people,” James explained, “But holy shit, no one’s actually recoiled!” He cackled, a deep, unnerving cackle. Well, it sounded like that to Tim at least.
“Well you don't have that effect on me,” Conner said.
“Or me!” Bart added, “Maybe something’s wrong with Tim-or us!”
“No it’s most likely just me since the others didn’t have a problem with James,” Tim stated, “Perhaps it’s because the others had more contact with the Lazarus Pits-as for the two of you, maybe it’s because of Bart’s connection to the speed force and Conner being half Kryptonian-“
“Way to doxx us my guy,” Bart interrupted, “First you interrupt me when I tried to explain more about Conner, and then you go out and spill our super hero identities.”
“Oh shit, you’re right, I forgot that he could possibly be a sleeper agent. Or spy.”
“I’m not one of those things but okay,” James said, before he got a starry look in his eyes, “Wait, does that mean you’re half alien?” He pointed to Conner, “I’ve never met an alien before! And your a speedster!” He pointed to Bart, “How fast can you go? Can you do anything else than run fast? Can you like, electrocute people by shuffling your feet real fast? Ooo, can you power a city with it?!”
Bart gasped, “He’s a fan of me! :D”
“And he’s asking quite a lot of questions,” Tim mumbled.
“Well, James, do you want anything to eat?” Conner asked.
“Can I have a cookie? Maybe two cookies?” Danny asked.
“Maybe something more nutritious-“
“Can I also have a cookie?” Bart asked.
“Uhh, okay, but James-“
“Since Bart here said he can also have a cookie, that means that someone would have to have a cookie first, which means…”
“…Tim?”
“The cookies are on top of the third cabinet to the right,” Tim said, “Bart knows where the rest of the desserts are.”
“Well isn’t that just sweet?” James smirked.
A few minutes later, when Alfred came to the kitchen, he was only the slightly surprised to see all the desserts gone. A bit more to see what he assumed was Jason’s clone throwing up into a trash can. Oh well, at least he wasn’t throwing up on the floor.
