You and Jared had been best friends for nearly 15 years and dating for 5 of them. You two didn’t date in high school, which provided so many stories for you two to laugh about now that you’re adults. You and Jared were cuddling on your couch, probably watching Monty Python because it was Jared’s turn to pick the movie, when all of the sudden Jared felt you shaking next to him. He turned to look at you, only to see you trying to contain your laughter. The movie wasn’t even on a funny part so he knew you were thinking about something he must have done in the past. “What are you thinking about?” Jared asked, smiling wide while he watched you laugh. He loves your laugh, it makes his toes tingle. As soon as he asked the question, you bursted with laughter. You clutched your stomach and slapped your other hand down into Jared’s thigh. “Remember when-” you started, not able to control your laughter. “Remember when you asked Katie O'Donnell to senior prom?!” You asked with a laugh, making Jared laugh as well while rolling his eyes. “You’re never going to let that go, are you?” He chuckled, wiping tears from your eyes as the fell. “You asked the most popular girl in school, with a Mario Bro’s themed poster, wHO ALSO HAD A GIRLFRIEND. SHE WAS ALREADY DATING JACKLYN.” You yelled. You often remembered this. Jared asked Katie, Katie asked what Mario Bros was, Jacklyn asked what the hell he was doing, Jared profusely apologized but still ended up with a Latte in the face. It was hilarious. You and Connor could barely keep it together. In fact, if Jared remembers correctly, you both slammed into the lockers and fell to the floor laughing. “It wasn’t that funny!!” He yelled, watching you wipe your tears as you calmed down. “Oh babe, it was absolutely hilarious.” You spoke, putting your hand on his face and hitting it lightly. “My crush for you developed when you cleaned me up in the nurses office though” he began “that’s when our cliche romance budded” he chuckled. “What do you mEAN CLICHE?!” You asked, feigning offense. “Oh come oN, y/n. Childhood best friends become more?! Tale as old as time” he said, kissing your forehead and standing up to walk to the kitchen. You followed him and sat on the counter. “I suppose your right.” You said swinging your feet on the counter. “That story does have a happy ending though!” You added “you ended up using your Mario Bro’s promposal on someone who actually appreciated it!” You smiled as he walked towards you and stood in between your legs, making you throw your arms around his neck. “I did! And we had a pretty good time at the prom didn’t we?” He asked with a smile. You leaned in and kissed him gently, making him grin into the kiss. “We most definitely did” you chirped. “See” he started “Sometimes being a complete nerd comes in handy”
