Dispatch Publishes Exposé on ITZY’s Eve’s Fight With JYP Entertainment

There is one main antagonist

Back in January of 2024, ITZY member Eve filed a lawsuit to terminate her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment. In March, she was granted a preliminary injunction. Today, Dispatch released a damning exposé on Eve’s feud with JYP Entertainment. In the article, Dispatch released texts between Eve and Director A.

The article begins with a text that Eve sent to Park Jinyoung (also known as JYP) in December of 2018.

Hello, PD-nim,

Thank you for adding me to the lineup of ITZY! I know I didn’t do as well as you hoped on Produce 48, but thank you for giving me this opportunity. I’ll make sure to be an artist that gives her all.

Eve has revealed that Park Jinyoung told her that her performance on Produce 48 would determine whether or not she would debut in ITZY. This text displays Eve’s gratitude at being in ITZY despite not making it to the final debut group of Produce 48 – IZ*ONE. When it was revealed that Eve was rigged out of IZ*ONE in favour of other idols, Eve found out that Director A already knew and had left her to feel insecure about her performance. This lack of communication would be a common theme in Eve’s career going forward.

In early April of 2021, Director A sent Eve a message about her appearance on a variety show that he had arranged without her knowledge. The show they were discussing is believed to be Sea of Hope.

In September of 2021, Eve was talking with fans on Bubble when a fan asked her about her solo schedules. “I’m an employee, so I just do whatever the company tells me to,” Eve said.

In 2022, Eve had her solo debut with the mini album ‘diary entries’. The album was released a few weeks before ITZY had a comeback, and Eve reportedly displayed hesitance at how close the two releases were. During an episode of I Live Alone, Eve told her brother, SHINee’s Key, that her schedule was so full that she had a panic attack.

The next text exchange is from July of 2022. Eve told Director A that she wasn’t feeling well and asked to sit out of a performance. Based on the timing of this conversation, it is believed to be the night before Eve fainted during ITZY’s pre-recording.

Dispatch then alleged that Eve was treated differently to her members. It can be seen in an Instagram live that Eve and Yeji did in October of 2023.

Comment: Have you seen your families recently?

Eve: I’m not allowed to.

Yeji: What do you mean? We are.

Eve: I’m not allowed to.

Yeji: (Whispering) Director?

That sentiment was repeated when Eve went on Amazing Saturday to promote her latest solo album ‘until spring’ and said she hasn’t seen her parents since early 2023.

The next text exchange between Eve and Director A echo the same issue once more. This exchange was from November or 2023 when Eve’s mom was in Seoul. Eve mentions the fact that she wasn’t allowed to go home during Chuseok.

On a phone call between the two in December of 2023, Director A was talking to Eve about the comeback that she’d be having in February of this year.

Director A: This will be an anticipated album so do well

Eve: Why do I keep having solo schedules when I’m not a soloist?

Director A: Because the fans like it

Eve: No, they don’t. They keep swearing at me for all of these schedules. Isn’t it time for one of the other members to debut?

Director A: Don’t worry about that.

EVe: It’s like you want to work with me until I die from all of this. Just give me a break. I’m busy preparing for two comebacks right now.

Director A: Just like a real professional. Well done.

Fnas and non-fans alike have pointed out how JYP Entertainment doesn’t do much to protect EVe from hate that was sent her way, instead using her as a shield from criticism.

In early January of 2024, the two conversed again. Director A was scolding Eve for missing schedules. It is unsure what schedules he is referring to.

He made the same complaint in February and Eve went on to list how Director A continuously failed to do his job in a way that makes it easy for employees to carry on their duties. He threatened to sue her.

Eve mentioned experiencing symptoms such as fainting and disassociation due to her busy schedules, which were seen earlier this year in her The Manager episode and her ‘until spring’ album documentary. Fans have also noticed that Eve has lost her usual excitement and energy, instead constantly looking tired and worn out. Eve herself has said that she doesn’t enjoy performing anymore, she just enjoys being with her members and seeing fans.

Dispatch sent Eve a list of questions when they heard of her lawsuit against JYP Entertainment. Here are Eve’s answers.

Q: Did you know there was an issue with the way you were being treated?

Eve: Yes.

Q: What moment gave you the push to end your contract?

Eve: It wasn’t like there was one specific moment. It was just moments piling on each other. People can only endure for so long before they fight back.

Q: This must have been a shock to the people around you.

Eve: Not really actually. Talking about it with my members was encouragement to go through with it. A few staff members said they were sick of the way I was being treated and wanted me to leave the company and go to a better one. When I told my family, they didn’t even pretend to be shocked, they just asked me what I would like as a treat to myself.

Q: Some might say that you treated Director A in a disrespectful manner.

Eve: That was my intention.

Q: Did you know he was the one pulling the strings in your career?

Eve: Yes, I did. At first I thought it was PD-nim because he would be the one to tell me things, but then I realised he’s not bold enough to do something like that and I realised that every time I didn’t listen to him, he’d look a bit worried. When I found out that Director Park was just telling PD-nim to do these things to me, I felt bad for PD-nim. Being disrespected in the company you started is kind of loser behaviour if I’m being honest.

Q: How did your members take the news?

Eve: I talked to them about it after I started considering leaving the company. I told them what was going on in my head and things like that, and they told me that they would support me no matter what. In fact, I was concerned about how this would affect them and ITZY’s career, but they told me that I should focus on being happy. With their encouragement, I was able to do this.

Q: JYP Entertainment argued that you were rude to the staff. Is that true?

Eve: I’m not one to be rude without reason. If you are rude to me, then I will act the same way towards you. If I was rude towards a staff member, they know what they did to deserve it.

gee reveals the truth

On November 27, JYP announced ITZY's Gee's departure from the group. Since then, a lot of related details have been announced as well. JYP officially announced that they are going to be allowing Gee to keep her stage name as it is. Then a few days later, HYBE Labels revealed that Gee would be signing under their company as a soloist. While this news was extremely exciting to fans, they soon found out the reasoning behind Gee's leave.

The now soloist went live on her recently opened Instagram account to answer the many burning questions fans have for her.

"They didn't like the amount of dating rumors I had. They didn't like how I acted, they didn't like much about me. After I complained to the company about the music and everything I had a problem with, things just went downhill"

Within the past few years, Gee has been caught up in a total of 10 dating rumors and scandals, dating back to her debut with ITZY. Her first rumor being with her fellow member at the time, Ryujin. Next there was Jisung of NCT, Jongho of ATEEZ, Yeri of Red Velvet, Shuhua of (G)I-DLE, Chaewon during her IZ*ONE days, and many more.

Fans were angered by this news, demanding answers from JYPe. However the company has yet to reveal anything.

“soobin, baby, your practice starts in 30 minutes. you should probably leave.” i try to be stern with my boyfriend but him pouting and pretending to not know where his belongings are is too cute.

“i'm trying to leave, angel, but i really need help finding my keys and shoes. i can’t leave without them.” soobin continues to pout and not actually try to look for his items.

“baby, your keys are in your pocket and i watched you put your shoes under my bed.” i laugh as i watch soobin’s pouty face. my boyfriend lets out a loud groan as he shoves his face into the couch cushion.

“i don't wanna leave” soobin says in a whiny voice followed by another groan of dissatisfaction. i run my hands through his hair as i tell him that practice won't be that bad. “no, no, no, i don't care about practice, i just don't wanna leave you.” i let out another laugh.

“your practice is only a couple hours, baby, you can come back later tonight.” i smile at my lover’s still pouty face. he agrees to come back later in the evening. he heads towards my room; exiting with his shoes in his hands. as soobin begrudgingly gets ready to leave, he stops to kiss me on the forehead.

“i’ll see you later tonight, angel!” soobin says with a wide bunny smile before leaving for practice.

Eve exhaled deeply as she sat on the couch in ITZY’s greenroom. She was sipping on an Iced Americano as her members had conversations around her. Slurping the last of her coffee, she placed the cup down on the table nearest to her.

“You’re drinking your coffee so aggressively,” Yuna commented.

Ryujin nodded. “Are you okay? You’re not going mad, are you?”

Eve waved them off. “I’m cool. I’m cooler than cool, I’m freezing.”

Yuna shared a look with Ryujin. “Okay,” she said.

The members went back to having their own conversations, leaving Eve to herself once more. She played with her fingers, picking at her skin. Deep in thought, she was drawn out by Yeji whining.

“My rice puff is almost done,” she said, pouting.

“Yeji, you’ve been eating them nonstop,” Lia said with a laugh. “It’s your second packet.”

Yeji huffed. “But I like them so much.”

Eve stood up, stretching her back as it began to feel stiff. Her bones clicked, drawing attention to her once more.

“Unnie, can you get me more rice puffs?” Yeji asked in a cute tone.

Eve widened her eyes in shock. “Suddenly?”

Yeji nodded sheepishly. “I’m tired,” she explained.

“Me too,” Eve responded in a similar tone. She sat back down on the couch with a huff.

“I’ll buy you Doritos,” Yeji bargained.

“How many rice puffs do you want?” Eve asked, standing back up. The staff in the room started laughing as she walked to the door.

“You changed your mind so easily,” Lia chuckled.

“I’m willing to do anything for Doritos.”

“Can I have five more rice puffs?” Yeji requested.

“I’m going to get Yeji more snacks,” Eve announced, reaching for the door handle.

“Thank you, unnie,” Yeji said sweetly, finishing off the last of her rice puff.

Eve shook her head endearingly at her member as she pushed the handle down, opening the door. She looked outside as she was about to leave before slamming the door shut with a gasp. She plastered herself against the door, breathing heavily as everyone looked at her.

“What is it?” Chaeryeong asked, holding her chest as she was startled by Eve.

“I can’t get the rice puffs,” Eve said, shaking her head with wide eyes.

“Why not?” Yeji asked, pouting.

“KARA sunbaenim is out there. I made eye contact with Jiyoung-nim.” She pushed off the door, walking back to the couch. Shaking her head, she sat down. “Jiji, I’m sorry, but you’ll just have to starve.” She shrugged apologetically.

“How did you interview them yesterday?” Lia asked.

“I didn’t. They didn’t do an interview and I just didn’t leave my green room.”

“But if we run into them later, you can’t run away,” Yeji told her.

“...Why?”

“It would be rude.”

Eve nodded hesitantly. “Okay. I won’t run away,” she weakly promised.

Ryujin stared at her. “Swear on your Kamilia identity.”

Eve gaped at her member. “Aren’t you being too harsh?”

“Swear on it.”

“I swear on my Kamilia identity,” Eve said, rolling her eyes in exasperation. “Happy?”

Yeji nodded. “Very.” She sagged into the couch. “But can somebody get me rice puffs?”

The members walked down the hallway after doing their pre-recorded stage, Eve occasionally drinking from a bottle of water. She had untwisted the lid of the bottle when a staff member ran into the group, causing her to squeeze the bottle in surprise. She closed her eyes as water hit her face, hearing everyone gasp.

“I’m sorry,” the staff member apologised as someone started dabbing Eve’s face dry.

“It’s okay, it was an accident,” she reassured the staff member when she opened her eyes. “I’m okay. Don’t stress. You can continue with whatever you were doing, it’s okay.”

The staff member bowed apologetically before walking away. Chaeryeong kept dabbing at Eve’s face.

“You need to redo your makeup,” she said. “It’s coming off.”

“I’ll go get Taehee unnie,” Ryujin volunteered, running to their green room.

Yeji ushered them to the side so they weren’t blocking the hallway as Chaeryeong finished wiping the water off Eve’s face.

“Now you can prove to people that you’re a natural beauty,” Lia joked.

Ryujin soon returned with Taehee on her heels. The makeup artist got to reapplying Eve’s makeup for her. A manager called the other members to the end of the hallway, leaving Eve and Taehee to themselves.

“We have to go now,” Eve heard Yeji say.

“Unnie, hurry up!” Yuna urged.

Eve shifted her lower body in the direction of her members as Taehee continued touching up her makeup. “I’m trying, but I’m being held hostage.”

Taehee poked her in the side. “I’m not holding you hostage, I’m fixing your makeup because you ruined it.”

Less than a minute later, Taehee let Eve go and she ran to her members. Ryujin and Lia immediately held onto her arms when she reached them, disguising it as holding her hands.

“Where are we going?” Eve asked.

Yeji shook her head. “Don’t worry.”

They continued walking until they reached the hallway leading to the room with a glass window. Talking by the window, there were five women standing in front of the glass. Eve squinted her eyes, trying to figure out who they were before gasping upon realising who they were.

“I need to go,” she whispered. Lia and Ryujin tightened their hold on her, preventing her from running away.

“Unnie, you can’t go,” Ryujin said. “You swore on your Kamilia identity.”

“I didn’t mean it, I just needed you to stop pestering me about running.”

“Well, we’re about to go talk to them, so control yourself,” Yeji said through her smile as they arrived in front of their seniors. They lined up along the wall, getting ready to greet the senior girl group. Yeji did the group intro for them, Eve whispering along. She tried to avoid making eye contact with the KARA members, ignoring Nicole’s chuckle at her awkwardness.

“Should we go that side?” Jiyoung pointed to the area by the window.

“That’s fine,” Yeji agreed.

The two groups walked to the area, their managers following them.

“Nicole told us that Eve-ssi is a fan, so you should do the dance challenge with her,” Gyuri suggested.

Yeji shook her head. “I’m sorry, but she can’t.”

“Why not?”

Lia shook Eve’s hand that she was holding as she spoke, “If we let go of her, she’s going to run away.”

Eve pursed her lips, feeling her face get hot with embarrassment. “I won’t run away,” she whined softly.

“She will,” Yeji insisted with a nod.

Gyuri nodded in understanding and the groups decided that Yeji and Yuna would film the TikTok’s with Seungyeon and Nicole. The other members stood back as they watched the four women go over the dances.

“Are you a Kamilia?” Jiyoung asked Eve, who was trying to wiggle her way out of Ryujin and Lia’s grasp.

“Me?” Eve asked, her voice shaking. She scoffed before shaking her head. “No. I don’t even know what a– what a Kamilia is,” she lied. “Do you know what a Kamilia is?” She asked Ryujin. Not waiting for a response, she continued speaking, “It sounds like that one animal, chameleon, but it’s not a chameleon because if it were then I couldn’t be one, you know? Because I’m not an animal,” she explained in case nobody understood what she was saying. “But then again, technically, according to scientists, humans are animals because we were monkeys, but not anymore, or something, and it’s kinda–”

“Unnie, it’s okay,” Ryujin interrupted. Flexing her hand, she let go of Eve’s arm. “You can run if you want to.”

“No, she can’t,” Ari said, pointedly looking at Eve, who was staring at the wall.

Ryujin shook her head, grabbing hold of Eve once more. “Nevermind, you can’t. But just stop talking, please,” she whispered. “I’m embarrassed for you.”

“You got it,” Eve whispered back, shifting on her feet out of nerves. The KARA members laughed lightly at Eve’s cuteness. They all watched as the other four members began to film the dance challenge to Cheshire, seeing how dedicated Chaeryeong was to filming for them. They then checked over the video, deciding to film another one. After filming, they checked over the video before posting it to ITZY’s account.

“You sure you don’t want to film the challenge?” Nicole asked Eve, who looked away and ignored the idol.

“Unnie knows the choreography to the whole song,” Yuna said, “but she’s seriously going to run away.”

“Stop being weird,” Nicole told the younger girl.

Eve looked at Lia with an offended expression on her face. “Why am I being bullied?” She whined softly.

“It’s not bullying, it’s not bullying,” Lia whispered.

“I feel bullied.”

“No, it’s just… It’s just.”

“Just what?”

“It doesn’t matter.”

“You can carry on with filming the challenge,” Chaeryeong said to the idols who were watching Eve and Lia’s interaction. Jiyoung volunteered to film the challenge for When I Move, showing as much enthusiasm as Chaeryeong.

Eve unconsciously tapped her foot along to the music, marking the dance with her hands. She didn’t notice how Lia was smiling at her. When Nicole, Seungyeon, Yeji and Yuna were done filming the challenge, the two groups bowed to each other.

“Thank you,” Yeji said. “Good luck with your promotions!”

Youngji nodded, lips flattening in a smile. “You too. Fighting!” She gestured for ITZY to leave first as they still had something else to do.

Eve peeked out the corner of her eye to Ari, and upon seeing the nod sent her way, freed herself from Ryujin and Lia’s hold. She turned around, sprinting down the hallway before anyone could say anything until she disappeared around a corner.

“She’s very fast,” Gyuri gasped as Yuna widened her eyes in embarrassment.

“Sorry,” Ari apologised, stepping forward. “She’s just such a big fan.”

“No, it’s okay,” Nicole waved her off. “I know she’s… interesting. We understand.”

Ryujin nodded her head. “Goodbye,” she said as the members bowed again before walking away.

Eve was the last person to leave the green room, having had to return because she forgot her power bank. She had just closed the door when someone called her name. She looked up and saw Seungyeon and Jiyoung. Her grip on the door handle tightened in shock.

“We wanted to give you this.” Jiyoung held out a Move Again album that had been signed by all of the members. Eve stared at it, not quite knowing how to function like a normal person, before looking up at Jiyoung.

“Me?” She asked in a high pitched voice, using her unoccupied hand to point at herself.

“Yes. You’re a big fan, so we wanted to gift it to you,” she explained.

“Me?”

“Yes,” Seungyeon said, smiling. She stepped forward, taking hold of Eve’s hand as Jiyoung placed the album in Eve’s hold before stepping back again. “You would always mention KARA a lot and that brought a lot of new fans to listen to our music.”

Eve stared at Seungyeon, struggling to wrap her head around what was happening. “No.”

“No, what?”

“People… listen to KARA because your music is nice, not because some… idiot told them to,” she softly disagreed.

“You threatened to slice off peoples kneecaps if they didn’t listen to Rock U once a day,” Jiyoung reminded her of one of her most viral moments.

“I don’t remember… ever saying that, but… I didn’t do anything. Only smart… people listen to KARA.” Seungyeon was about to say something, but she continued, suddenly being filled with passion. “Rock U is a good song! Shouldn’t people appreciate it? I think they should!” She had started to whisper-shout her love for KARA. “It’s the least they could do considering the effort sunbaenim put into your albums. So, like… don’t make me responsible for your success or whatever.”

The two KARA members failed to stop themselves from smiling at Eve’s words – and cuteness. “Thank you for saying that,” Seungyeon said as she bowed to Eve, who followed suit, still gripping onto the door handle.

“Let’s take a selca!” Jiyoung cheered.

Eve smiled shily. “Can we take it here?” She pointed at the ground with her feet. “If I let go of this handle, I’m going to faint.”

“Okay!”

The two older women stepped closer to Eve as Jiyoung pulled out her phone. She took a few selfies, with them standing on either side of Eve. When they were done, Jiyoung airdropped the photos to Eve’s phone. Waving as the women walked away, Eve tried not to scream, cry or throw up from excitement.

She can’t quite remember how she made it to the car, or the drive home, or if she did her nighttime skincare routine after she ate dinner. She does, however, remember putting the Move Again album on her vanity and watching old KARA variety shows on her laptop before she fell asleep.

What Happened?

Evie has been acting really strange recently, and the boys have all taken notice. Every time they’ve asked her what’s bothering her she just tells her that she’s fine and that they are being over dramatic and over analyzing her behavior. She’s been trying to mask how she’s been feeling but it’s gotten to a point where she can’t keep doing that anymore. One more question and she feels like she is about to explode. She feels overly stressed and doesn’t know how to express it, she tried doing her normal distractions but they aren’t helping. Comments are laying heavy on the idol's mind as she paces the length of the room and rubs her arms.

Hyunjin finally breaks a silence that no one even realized was there. “My love, what’s wrong?”

Evie lifts up her hand dismissively. “Don’t.” She barks in a harsh tone.

“Evie, don’t lash out at Hyunjin.” Felix says gently, grabbing her hand to get her attention. “We’ve all noticed you’ve been bothered. You can talk to us about anything, you know this. We love you, we don’t like seeing you suffer in silence like this, Bear.”

“It’s seriously nothing.” Evie says, pulling her hand away from Felix and walking away.

The two boys shake their heads at one another before following Evie, they are determined to get the truth out of her and will not stop until they get answers. She’s been acting weird for over a month, so something is clearly wrong. Evie can hear the boys quickly follow behind her and she rolls her eyes. She knows these two won’t stop until they get some sort of answer from her, but she doesn’t know how to talk about this. She hasn’t known how to talk about it, that's why she hasn’t.

“Oi! Ari! Wait up!” Felix says from behind her and she stops and turns to face him with her arms crossed over her chest.

“What do you guys want? Can’t you just leave me alone? I clearly have nothing to say to you.”

“No. We can’t leave you alone.” Hyunjin says as he stares at Evie.

“You may not have something to say but you definitely have something on your mind, so why don’t we just sit down and talk about it.” Felix pipes in carefully.

“Yeah, we can all cook or order food and eat and just figure this out together.” Hyunjin says softly brushing her hair out of her face as he steps toward her. “I hate seeing you so tense and worked up like this Vi.”

Evie sighs, there’s no way of getting out of it this time. “Fine. Let’s eat while we talk about this, I don’t think I can do this without motivation.”

“Thank you.” The boys say in unison before they all decide what to order for food.

While they wait for food to arrive Evie and the two boys sit down and she rehearses what she wants to say in her head a few times, each time she is unhappy with it. How does she talk about something that happened like six years ago? Something that she's avoided like the plague since her debut with Stray Kids. It’s just awkward to even think about anymore. She should’ve just sucked it up and gotten over it but she never got closure so it all still hurts every time it’s brought up. With the new resurgence as well it is just too much. Evie must’ve gotten lost in her thoughts because the next thing she knows Felix and Hyunjin are walking up to her with the food they ordered in their hands.

“Alright Evs, foods here.” Felix beams as they sit on either side of her and they sort out who’s food is whose.

“Yeah…” Evie says with a forced smile. She takes a few bites before she picks at it trying to muster the courage to talk about it.

Evie shakes her head and slaps her cheeks to hype herself up. “This is hard to talk about.” She shrugs as she stares at her food, picking at it with her chopsticks again.

“We aren’t going anywhere Vi, take your time.” Hyunjin reassures placing a hand on her leg and squeezing it slightly as he does.

“Yeah, I know. You’ve been pestering me all day, it’s giving me a fucking migraine.” Evie says rubbing her temples before taking another bite of food.

After swallowing her bite she sighs, “I guess I should just rip it off like a bandaid huh?”

“If that’s how you want to do it mate.” Felix replies, shrugging.

“This is fucking weird to talk about it’s been so long…”

“What is it about?” Hyunjin tilts his head as he asks.

Bluntly Evie says, “Itzy.”

“That’s what’s been bothering you? The Itzy comments?” Felix seems confused.

“Yes and no. It’s more what the girls did to me and how they treated me. I’m supposed to just be happy around them and not hurt. I have yet to get a fucking apology for how awful they were to me.”

Hyunjin’s eyes widen as he sees Evie make a tight fist, clearly getting overly emotional. “What’d they do to you my love?”

Evie shakes her head and her hands trying to process everything. Is she really talking about this? “I need a minute… Please…” her voice cracks as angry tears threaten to fall. The boys just nod and let her take her time.

“You have to remember I haven’t even talked about this in therapy yet… So this is me finally processing it after all those years okay…” Evie says before taking big bites of her food to try and forget the conversation at hand.

“That’s why it’s bothering you so much.” Felix observes and the girl just nods her head as she finishes the big bite she just took.

“Yeah…” Evie sighs once more before speaking again. “As you guys know after I was cut from the show and from the group in 2018 I trained with Itzy for a while. And to say I was an outcast is an understatement. Those girls treated me like I was fucking dirt. Do you know how that feels? The group of people who you are supposed to live with and spend the majority of your time with hating your fucking existence. That hurts so much more than anyone could possibly know.”

Evie has to stop speaking as tears fall from her eyes and she starts to shake, emotions she’s never truly processed hitting her like a stab right in her heart. She feels so small, so broken. She wants to scream and punch things but she knows that won’t fix anything. The two boys sit in stunned silence staring at the crumbling female before them. They can tell she’s not done talking but they just do their best to comfort her, they don’t add anything worried they’d make it worse. Hyunjin rubs your leg gently as Felix lays her head on his chest near his heart and he steadies his heartbeat and breathing for her to listen to as he knows that’s something that brings her a lot of comfort. After a few moments she clears her throat and continues to talk.

“It started with one but then they all sorta just gained up on me. It was like they said ‘bully the reject she can handle it.’ I was like their verbal punching bag. What hurt the most though was when they made fun of my speaking, as if I can control having an accent or having ‘weird’ Korean… I was fluent in Korean at the time too so I don’t understand what their issue was with me. I didn’t do anything to those girls. It was like they were mad that I almost debuted before them or something. There’s no way PD-nim didn’t see the way they treated me, they didn’t fucking hide the fact they didn’t like me. So yeah, when they debuted I did feel some sort of way but guess what I got over it. I trained with the NMIXX girls until it was time for me to come back to my home, you guys, and when I was with them it was heavenly. They treated me with so much love and respect, maybe because I was the oldest or maybe it’s because they weren’t in a hateful mood I don't know.”

Evie takes a deep breath realizing she was talking really fast, at a slower pace she continues. “I know you can’t get along with everyone and I understand and accept that. However, to treat someone with so much hate and disrespect feels uncalled for. I never once did anything to instigate anything, and to think. Chaeryoung asked me to do a dance with her on tiktok. NO. Leave me alone. Like, haven’t you done enough when you were doing mean girl behavior with your other members toward an already beaten down trainee?”

When Evie finally looks up she notices that Lee Know was leaning on the door frame, he seemed to have been listening from afar. She waves him over and he comes and sits with them. Everyone is silent for a few moments as Evie processes everything.

“I’m not an anti. I just don’t want to show support toward people who were hateful toward me, maybe that had a bad couple of weeks/months. That doesn’t mean take it out on me. Unless maybe they didn’t want me on the team and at that point just be honest and don’t be mean about it? I don’t know. Just the way they went about it and then no one apologizing even after years just seems wild to me.” Evie shrugs. “I don’t know how to talk about this with the public because I don’t want Itzy to be hated, I just want an apology so I can just get that awful chapter closed and maybe I can heal.”

“I understand. If you want we can maybe try and help you talk about it? To put the rumors to rest and ease your mind a bit.” Lee Know suggests.

“That’d be nice…”

“Hey, Evie.” Hyunjin says. “We love you. I’m sorry they treated you like that, that’s not fair to you. I think you should report it if it’s still affecting you after so long, I mean for an entire month you barely slept and have been acting really strange because of the internet calling you an anti again.”

“I’m not gonna do that.” Evie says fast. “It’s fine. I’m fine really. It just gets exhausting seeing people saying I’m an anti all because they debuted before me and without me. So what if I didn’t make the original line up, I’m clearly much happier where I am now so what’s the big deal?”

The boys shrug and Felix speaks this time. “I think people just want a reason to hate you mate. The fact they can’t find one bugs ‘em so they bring this up every six to eight months to get a reaction outta ya.”

“Maybe but it’s heartbreaking because even some of our stays think I’m bitter. I am not bitter, just broken-hearted. Is that the same? I don’t think so.”

Lee Know sighs. “I don’t get why everyone has to try and start something with you. You’re just trying to live your life. Let’s make a post on your Instagram and pin it yeah? We can also have an official statement released too. Let’s just say you aren’t an anti, because you said you aren’t, and we can either come up with some bullshit excuse or be straight up honest and just say we just don’t get along and that’s okay we are human. Or something. Up to you of course. It’s your situation after all.”

Evie scratches at her arm before she grabs her phone. She puts the camera against her leg to have a solid black background before writing her statement first in English then in Korean on two different slides. She puts them in the only highlight that is on her page labeled “itzy.” The statement reads as follows:

Hello everyone, this is Evelyn. You may know me better as Evie from the KPop group Stray Kids. This post is going to be a bit different from anything I’ve ever done before. This is my official statement about all the rumors and allegations that I am an Itzy anti. I would like to say I am NOT an Itzy anti. I’ve never been an Itzy anti. The girls and I just didn’t get along in our trainee days, maybe now that we are older we could try for a friendship but I am by no means an anti. I actually enjoy some of their music. I just avoided them due to conflicted feelings I felt about everything that happened. Although we didn’t get along, I will always wish the best for them and wish them nothing but good luck in any future endeavors they have. I’m sorry for not speaking out sooner or talking about this sooner, I never really knew how to address this without giving away too many details as this is something that is extremely personal to not only me but the girls that are in Itzy. Next time something comes up I will be sure to handle it differently, and hopefully better. I ask you guys to not pry any farther into this as I do not want to talk about it anymore than this. I am only human, as are they, I deserve privacy as does everyone else. Just because I am an idol doesn't mean I do not deserve privacy. Thank you for listening.

She showed the boys the statement and they all agreed it looked okay and before okaying it with any of her managers or the staff she just posted it. She didn’t care if she got in trouble, she just was tired of hearing it. Areum X ITZY

YEJI

Yeji finds Areum to be her confidant, having faced many issues with confidence and wondering if she was a good leader Yeji often finds herself leaning on her for support. When she’s overwhelmed Areum will step in to lead the group as the oldest and she prides herself on having Yeji as the leader of ITZY. Yeji often looks towards the older as a child would look to their mother and she is always ready to accept any and all praise from Areum at any moment

RYUJIN

The two of them often clashed as trianee’s, and since the timing of the girls being on MIXNINE and Begin Again overlapped the two didn’t get close until the older returned to Korea and they began practicing together. LIA

Lia and Areum are quite a troublesome duo, when they’re together they activate a very childlike persona and often leaves the staff and members watching them with stress and enjoyment. Lia is the clingiest to Areum and can be heard calling for her often. Lia also doesn’t understand how she is friends with almost every idol they run into, whether they be in the 4th gen or the 2nd

YUNA

Areum activates the embarrassing older sister when it comes to Yuna and she does it solely to get a reaction. The two have a very Tom and Jerry relationship but are undeniably the closest out of the entire group. Yuna mentions often about how Areum would always go out of her way to look after her and make sure she was doing well in school - she said that her family is very happy that she is lucky enough to have someone who cares for her as much as her parents do.

You stretch your limbs out on your couch, finally able to relax after finishing your finals. The past couple of weeks were filled with sleepless nights, endless walls of notes, and a lack of social interaction. Regardless of the results, you were just happy to be done with it all. While scrolling through Instagram on your phone, you receive a text from your friend, Ryujin.

Ryujin: Congrats on finishing your finals!! Wanna get some dinner?

You smile at the text, grateful for your friendship with Ryujin. Despite the stress of finals, she had always managed to cheer you up with some encouraging words and the occasional cup of coffee.

You: I’ll come pick you up in a min. Wear something cute for me ;)

You send the text, quickly grabbing your jacket before leaving your apartment. You and Ryujin had always jokingly flirted with each other, although nothing had ever escalated beyond “friendly” hand-holding. While you weren’t completely opposed to the idea of taking things to the next level, you didn’t want to do anything that would jeopardize the friendship you had.

A delicate dusting of snowflakes greets you as you step outside, the cold air nipping at your cheeks. Winter has always been your favorite season, yet you weren’t able to fully enjoy it due to being stuck in classes or the library all day. You take a deep breath, letting the cool, refreshing air fill your lungs. A wave of emotions wash over you as you realize you can finally breathe after a long time of struggling.

As you go to knock on the door to Ryujin’s apartment, she steps out, almost as if she were waiting by the front door for your arrival. Her outfit consists of baggy gray sweatpants, contrasting with a black sports bra and a black zip hoodie, unzipped to reveal her toned abs.

“Hey handsome,” Ryujin teases, gently patting your cheek with her delicate fingers. You respond with a smirk, the exchange a familiar dance between you two, as you zip up her hoodie to shield her body from the falling snow.

“Dude, you do realize it’s literally snowing outside, right?” You quip, a grin playing on your lips as ruffle her hair to get rid of the snowflakes that accumulated on top of her head.

She flashes her signature smile at you that you’ve always loved, complete with her dimples and her ”smile eyes”. “You’re the one that said to wear something cute. I thought you liked it when I showed some skin,” Ryujin says with a mischievous glint in her eyes. You chuckle, taking her hand in yours as the two of you depart to the nearest restaurant. Even while wearing three layers of clothing, the warmest part of your body was your hand as it interlocked with Ryujin’s, a comfort that denies the biting cold. Any passerby could have easily mistaken the both of you as a couple with the way your smiles grew every time you and Ryujin were together. She was a constant light in your life, a reliable safe haven during your tumultuous first year of college.

Since birth, you were always an introvert, and that stayed true even as you took your first steps into adulthood. College had presented a surplus of new challenges, none of which you would have survived if Ryujin hadn’t approached you in the first week of school.

Ryujin nudges your side with a concerned look on her face. “You alright, dude? You’ve been staring into space for a while now.”

“It’s nothing, I’m just… happy.” You smile at her and squeeze her hand reassuringly.

“Good,” she says, grinning up at you. “Now hurry up, you’re walking too slow and I’m hungry.” With a sudden release of her grip, Ryujin darts ahead, her laughter echoing through the night as she leaves you behind. The sudden loss of her hand from yours brings you to your senses, and you chase after her at full speed.

Breathless and flushed, the two of you reach your usual spot - a quaint hole-in-the-wall Chinese place. Leaning against the wall, Ryujin catches her breath, the cool air contrasting with the warmth that now radiates from your impromptu race.

“I… win… so… you have to… pay,” she says, gasping between each word.

You take your spot next to her against the wall, your lungs stinging from the cold air. “You idiot… I was gonna… pay anyways.”

Ryujin chuckles, which evolves into a coughing fit. Patting her back, you wait for it to subside before the two of you enter the restaurant.

The familiar musk of Chinese food fills your nostrils as you step through the doors. Warmth emits from the busy kitchen, a welcome contrast to the frigid air outside. Ryujin finds a table for the two of you while you order your usual dishes at the counter. After placing your order, you sit across from Ryujin, who’s engrossed in a game on her phone. You can’t help but notice how attractive she looks, even in such a simple outfit. Her pink wolf cut framed her face perfectly, showcasing a unique beauty that you haven’t seen in anyone else. Ryujin tried on various styles throughout the semester, but you personally thought short hair suited her the most.

Ryujin glances up at you briefly, catching you staring. “What is it? You like what you see?” she teases, her attention still focused on her phone.

“Absolutely. I could stare at you for hours and never get bored,” you quip. Her lips curl into a smile as her cheeks turn the same shade of pink as her hair before she tosses her phone onto the table, a red “Game Over” screen flashing on the screen.

“You made me lose, stupid,” she says, pouting her lips. The urge to lean over the table and kiss her was strong, but the sound of a bell snapped you out of your thoughts, a signal that your food was ready. The two of you chow down on a meal of lo mein, spring rolls, and the spiciest General Tso’s chicken you’ve ever had (You gave most of them to Ryujin). As good as the food was, all your attention was focused on the girl in front of you, humming in delight with each mouthful.

A glob of sauce stains her cheek. You can’t help but laugh as you grab a napkin to wipe her face. “Slow down, you look like a pig,” you tease.

Ryujin flashes you a cheeky smile as you wipe her face. “Food just tastes so much better when you're paying for it, dude.” You jokingly toss the used napkin at her face before finishing the rest of your food.

After paying for the meal, the two of you head back outside, hand in hand. Ryujin pulls you to a nearby bench to watch the snow fall, leaning her head on your shoulder as each snowflake passes her by. Despite how beautiful the snow looked, your gaze was drawn to the intricate details of Ryujin’s content expression. Her plush lips were curled into a slight grin, showcasing her dimples that you adored. The allure of the falling snow pales in comparison to the warmth emanating from the depths of your heart.

Ryujin glances up at you and catches you staring. “Dude, you’ve been staring at me all night. Are you gonna kiss me or not?” she teases, her words hanging in the air like a tempting invitation. A sudden wave of courage hits you as you find yourself faced with an opportunity that only a fool would miss. With a steadying breath, you gently cup Ryujin’s face, caressing her plump cheeks with your thumbs. The jesting smile disappears from her face, replaced by a blush that mirrors the hue of her hair. The rest of the world dissipates, leaving the two of you suspended in this intimate moment. Your pounding heartbeat and the subtle shiver of her breathing are the only things you can hear as the distance between your faces gets smaller and smaller until you can see your reflection in her irises. Ryujin shuts her eyes, prompting you to make the final move. With one last breath, you lean in…

General Tso’s spicy chicken. The pillow-like softness of her lips is completely overpowered by the taste of soy sauce and MSG. You break the kiss, her face still in your hands, and the two of you succumb to laughter as soon as you make eye contact.

“Yah, why didn’t you eat a mint first if you were gonna kiss me, stupid!” she exclaims, playfully slapping your arm.

“You’re the one that needs a mint, chicken breath!” You fire back, prompting her to slap your arm again. Laughter ensues, and by the time both of you calm down, your abs are burning harder than any workout could have given you. Even in a serious time like this, you could always count on Ryujin to make things more interesting.

She rises from the bench, stretching her arms. “We should head back now, it’s getting late,” she suggests, extending a hand towards you.

You take it and pull her close, encircling her in the warmth of your embrace. “We’re not leaving until you give me a proper kiss,” you tease.

“I don’t think that’s gonna happen any time soon unless you have a mint on you,” she replies with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

You chuckle at her as you hold her face. ”I guess we’ll be here all night then,” you declare as you lean in, bridging the gap between the two of you. This time, the sweet flavor of peaches hits you as you savor the light, pillowy texture of Ryujin’s lips. You feel her warm hands wrap around your neck, pulling you deeper into the kiss. The harsh winter wind swirls around you, yet at this moment, you don’t care about anything else. No matter how much you denied your feelings before, you knew that this felt right in every way possible.

After what felt like an eternity, you finally break the kiss, in desperate need of air. Ryujin gazes into your eyes with a gentle expression conveying a message that needs no words: I love you. Before you can react, she suddenly breaks free from your grasp and runs away, waving something in her hand.

“I took your wallet! You better come catch me if you want it back!” she calls back, laughing.

“Wha-” Panic sets in as you pat your pockets, realizing your wallet is nowhere to be found. “Ryujin!!” A mix of irritation and excitement propels you into a chase through the gentle snowfall, anticipating the new adventures you’ll get to experience with her.
