who's the iterator with the shelter symbol on their head? 👀
*whips around and evil grins at the camera* TIME FOR A CANOPY POST
Tumblr media
sheltering canopy | #862, gen 3 | she/her
(im gonna be talking about off string canopy mostly because she doesn't really do anything yet in the canon adjacent story!!! all the like. personal info and stuff is consistent tho)
of course. as always. since this is canopy's first time around. fast facts.
Tumblr media
sheltering canopy is part of the far north group, a local group adjacent to corners!
far north consisted (in order of construction) of eleven rivers, untold odyssey, one wish for all, four falling phrases, and finally sheltering canopy. when rivers' first admin went to the void sea and was eventually replaced with flowers, flowers proposed and helped construct the twins and separated the far north group into two groups.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
odyssey was made group senior overseeing wish and canopy, and phrases was made senior overseeing rivers and the twins.
shortly after the mass ascension, wish caught the rot, and some time after that the Gift was released and odyssey received dev status. unfortunately wish's rot was too extreme so they couldn't save her, but odyssey was able to reach canopy and make her a mobile puppet so they could travel south together!
Tumblr media
they are heading south because *static sounds here* (there is something that LOTS of iterators are travelling towards, havent decided if its like. a commune or new society or something but whatever i decide is where these guys are heading). unfortunately, the only way south from far north is through the great north divide (a large mountain range), which is perilous and frigid. keeping warm is hard and securing water is even harder. rivers and phrases climbed the range and went above (pink path), where canopy and odyssey (cyan path) moved through a ravine called the west chasm (more water and warmth than going above, but also lots more carnivores)
Tumblr media
the divide is a difficult journey but once youve reached the other side, the real threat rears its head. across the mountains from the far north group is the civilizing divide group, a group consisting of 13 iterators, most notably their senior and older sister, adamant dune.
Tumblr media
i think we all know who dune is by now, lmao canopy and odyssey almost reached the other side of dune's territory without even understanding the danger they were in, but the group caught up with them last moment. by the time canopy and odyssey reach this point, phrases and rivers have already long escaped and dune had thrown hollow space out. she was especially dangerous at this point, angry and grieving and now without her voice of reason.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a mystery group (who i currently know very very little about) jumps in at the last moment and saves odyssey, leaving canopy behind having seen her injuries and knowing there's no coming back from a killing blow like that.
but canopy miraculously survives the wound dune inflicts on her, and instead of just trying again, dune takes canopy in to her group in exchange for canopy to help them retrieve cells. they tell canopy that they murdered odyssey.
dune in no way treats canopy like family like she does the rest of her group. she makes canopy help with murder and has little to no regard for her wellbeing or feelings. canopy collapses in on herself amongst the violence shes being made to commit and the cruelty she's facing. she becomes quiet, introspective and numb. it reminds dune of hollow space, which just makes her disdain for canopy stronger.
i sketched this freaky comic of dune making canopy murder someone, you can see it if u promise not to look at the arms for more than 0.5 seconds lmao
Tumblr media
she goes by the name shelter with dune and co.
Tumblr media
ok its 12:30 pm on a work night and i gotta wake up at 6 so thats all from me for now. ill save her and odyssey's reunion for another time!!! the payoff is huge you guys have no idea but i promise they end up together again

A general question how do they look naked? (No sexual purpose I’m just curious about what’s the difference between us and them) are they half devil??
Hello anon, thanks for your question! :)
The reply has gotten a little more lengthy, sorry for that. I hope it answers all your questions.
First of all, I do believe that thanks to the "Blood of Asmodeus" curse, tieflings are to some degree blood-related to devils, though they are not half-devils. That blood, however, does affect their looks.
I will definitely be talking more about tiefling skin in general in the future, from the nice ridges on their tails to the skin around their horns, and the bumps along their chests and backs, but those are already visible in the game. Have a quick look for example at the back of Poem, my tiefling character:
Tumblr media
The way those ridges work I believe, is to provide additional protection, almost like a layer of body armor created by a tiefling's own body, shielding more vulnerable places like the spine, but they also exist on areas of skin like the elbow and knee that are already thicker in humans, as the skin there has to withstand mechanical stretching from those joints having quite a bit of mobility and being used all the time.
Due to fewer oil glands in this area, the skin there gets drier and flakier, and retains less water. I believe the thicker skin there also serves protective purposes, but not exactly the same way as the ridges on the spine and ribs. They are probably mostly there to ease friction, but also protect the sensitive nerves there. (Yes, the funny bone is actually a nerve called the Ulnar nerve, and tieflings probably have no issues hitting it, because it is much better protected.)
Then, of course, there are genitals, which were kept fairly standard for tieflings in BG3.
As much as I personally like to imagine their genitals to be ribbed or nubby, I don't think it would make much sense. The bumps and ridges on their skin are for protection, and while genitals are definitely a sensitive area, they should probably not have this particular type of protection.
My reasoning here would be how these ridges work vs. what you would typically want.
I've quickly doodled something to explain this a little better, please excuse the quality here and my terrible handwriting haha
Please note that I drew up this little diagram as a more general sort of overview and the yellow subcutaneous tissue has its color from the fat that is typically part of this layer, but is missing in clitoris, penis, eyelids, and other similar areas of skin. That's why these areas of skin feel different, by the way!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Epidermis (Outermost layer of skin)
Dermis (Middle layer of skin containing connective tissue, the superficial arteriovenous plexus [a] with all those fine little blood vessels, and also the deep arteriovenous plexus [b], so the thicker blood vessels, but also the dermal nerve fibres that I marked in pink here.)
Hypodermis/Subcutaneous tissue (Layer right below the skin, anchoring the skin to the connective tissue of the body)
As you can see, the nerve does not reach all the way into the epidermis (which is good, you absolutely would not want that). But that also means adding a protective layer to it, as I have done in tiefling-red on the right, you create an even thicker barrier before reaching the nerve, making the skin a lot less sensitive.
Obviously, you do not want a tiefling's genitals to be insensitive like this. You want them to enjoy having sex after all.
Additionally, according to this article, as well as the player handbook, the Asmodeus curse has made tiefling genetics very dominant, meaning that tieflings will always produce tiefling offspring, serving "a purpose for the Hells in that it strengthens their presence in the mortal realms".
This leads me to speculate whether tieflings might have higher libido than humans and if, perhaps, they are more potent.
Additionally, due to the way their pelvis is shaped thanks to their tails (I will get more into this in the tail essay), there is a chance that - compared to humans - giving birth is slightly less painful for them. While probably far from an enjoyable process, they could potentially see some benefits from their sacrum being turned outward.
As far as shapes and sizes go, it seems logical for them to be at least compatible with other humanoids to ensure that they can produce offspring with one another. Tiefling vaginas would probably be similar to those of humans, not much deeper or wider, since too many differences would make impregnation harder for any non-tieflings.
Tiefling penises probably also wouldn't be much longer or thicker or strangely shaped, as that could do significant damage to a human or elven body, which would once again not lead to creating more tiefling offspring for Asmodeus to extend his reign.
But it is possible for them to have differences! I think that's mostly where people's headcanons can come in. Anything that doesn't make it biologically more difficult to conceive a child is fair game!
Penises with more tapered tips? Possible.
Larger or more sensitive clitoral glans? Hell yeah!
Want your tiefling to have an additional g-spot that Asmodeus put in there to be cheeky? Go for it!
--
I hope that did answer your question well enough, but please feel free to follow up if there is anything else you would like to know.

So I watched the new Disney movie: Wish, and oh boy. I wouldn't be redesigning or talking much about it if I liked it. So here I am. And I despised it.
So I decided to redraw/rewrite the ENTIRE story. Right now, I am redesigning the characters, starting with Asha.
One thing you notice is that she seems more like an sorcerer/princess and you will be correct on both parts. She is (in my version of the story) the daughter of Magnifico and Amaya. She has much more character and flaws than she did in the movie, and undergoes A BIG character change. To put it in perspective, she is much like Belle from Beauty and the Beast but more shy and interverted. (I dont wanna spoil her change since it is pretty unique in its own way) Plus, she loves books like Belle too lol
Anyways, design wise:
I gave her a more sunset color pallet. And as you notice, she has a POOFY BRAID. I wanted her to have a braid to make her different from the other redesigns of Asha, and so she didn't look like Isabella. And yes, the braid will seem to assosiate with either Elsa or Rapunzel, but Rapunzel doesn't have long hair any more it is short and the merch either has her in the braid or her long hair. Elsa isn't marketed with a braid anymore, she just has her hair pulled back (which I thought about doing for Asha funny enough). So technically speaking, Disney doesn't really have a MC that CONSISANTLY had a braid. Even a poofy one at that. You may also notice that I gave her more of a red-ish pink-ish color for the main part of the dress instead of maroon and the reason why is because I wanted her to stand out :D I didn't want her dress to be very big or poofy because I want her to be able to move more freely + she is a young sorcerer and needs to have more mobility. The oval shapes around her outfit is like the pumpkin seeds that would reference the fairy godmother (which is what they did in the original and I wanted to apply it here for fun).
Look, if you like the movie, I can 100% respect that. But please do not attack me for not liking the movie. Its better to be respectful than dissing on someone who has a different opinion than you. If you guys are wondering why I didn't like it, you guys can ask me in the comments if you want too. I'll post another one of my fav characters that was never in the movie later today or tomorrow.
Anyways, do you guys like my redraw? I'll take some suggestions as well if you want it to be improved and I'll still explore it! For now though, this is her final design unless I change my mind about it lol.

Organization XIII Coded Avatars
Hi howdy
I was scrounging around in the depths of the khwiki and ended up on the Avatar Menu page. I never played kh coded (...this is technically from Kingdom Hearts Mobile) and I know very little about its gameplay but there was this side mode where you could make custom avatars and there were a bunch of pre-set ones, all with unique usernames and quotes
There’s one for every member in Organization XIII.
Please look at them.
Tumblr media
DaSuperior “Avatar Parts, empower me!”
Tumblr media
Fr33sh00tr “Pet goldfish? As if!”
Tumblr media
Whirlwinnr “‘Love’...my outfit? Bah.”
Tumblr media
TheChillE1 “Avatar pets? Fascinating!”
Tumblr media
SilentHero “On your last legs yet?”
Tumblr media
ZexyScheme “You cheat? Deplorable.”
Tumblr media
LunaDVine “Expecting a mission?”
Tumblr media
Flamesilox “F-L-A...Got it memorized?”
Tumblr media
N♪cturne “My new song melts faces!”
Tumblr media
GambleOfF8 “Scratch card? I'm game.”
Tumblr media
AssaXIn8 “The Keyblade must be mine.”
Tumblr media
SavageNmph “Do I detect DISTRESS?”
Tumblr media
Key2DestNE “They ran out of sea-salt.”
Tumblr media
Never4get “We meet again.”
Let me reiterate that these are from an official Kingdom Hearts game
I was going to make a cute little graphic or something but I decided nah I want the pngs to be downloadable straight from the post
Other notes and some (lots of) rambling under the cut
Avatar parts and scratch cards are references to mechanics related to the Avatar Kingdom as a whole. No idea what avatar pets are supposed to be though- I think he might be referring to buddies
Tumblr media
Shoutout to Naminé being assigned mouse. Also “Shadow Dawg”. Also Roxas as “Dog 3″ is sending me- this isn’t what this post is supposed to be about
There’s this thing called the “Avatar Sector” where you... clear a bunch of floors or something idk I’ve never played the game
But after every ten floors you get a new title! For the sake of time I’m just screenshotting the table and pasting it in
Tumblr media
And each Organization member has one of these titles. From the bottom up, we’ve got:
Junior Diver: Roxas Diver: Demyx, Marluxia Senior Diver: Vexen, Larxene Sector Mod: Xaldin Sector Admin: Zexion Sector Master: Axel Architect: Xigbar Wizard: Lexaeus, Saïx, Xion Legend: Xemnas, Luxord
I’mmmmmm not sure what the pattern is there? Or if there even is one???? It’s not physical strength, or ability, or importance in the Organization, but it doesn’t look to be entirely random... Considering this is from a side mode to KH Coded it’s probably better to just not think about it but hey now you know
Various ramblings on the things themselves:
Da Superior..................
Xigbar’s quote is a reference to that “Do you always have to stare at me like I just drowned your goldfish” line from 358/2 Days. this might be common knowledge but I like to cover my bases
shoutout to tumblr user @/ fr33sh00tr for being one of the uhhh 3 people I’ve seen ever reference these things
wow they really play up Xaldin’s hatred of love to a comedic level huh
the username Whirlwinner SLAPS though
Vexen’s mouth is the only one of the Organization that’s not pink/scarlet! Peculiar!
Lexaeus’s quote is a reference to the time in 358/2 Days when he hit Roxas really hard. Another L for Lexaeus fans 😔
also his eyes are gold for some reason?? clearly doesn’t mean anything here but why
aesthetic probably. xigbar’s eyes ARENt gold
ZexyScheme 💀
fun fact Zexion uses the word “deplorable” TWICE in Chain of Memories (only once in the English version of Re:CoM but he does indeed say it twice in the Japanese version). This is the third time. It’s not a very common word or anything so I think it’s his favorite word lmao
Axel’s username is a reference to the silly little nickname Xigbar uses for him in Days which makes me think Xigbar came up with all these usernames
shoutout to Demyx
something about the way “Do I detect DISTRESS?” is written is so funny to me, she sounds SO excited
XION AS NEVER4GET......
it’s definitely Xion btw because they all have numbers ascribed to them and Never4get is the only 14
that’s it
Thank you so much for to reading my post

could u elaborate about your anger against buff will byers? genuine question, i dont mean to be rude! have a great day denise <3
mobile + sleep deprived so this is going to be All Over The Place but i'll list some thoughts in bullet points:
my anger isn't towards will being buff, my anger is over the fact that fandom has used noah schnapp's body type as a reason to mischaracterize will into someone that he isn't
finn has long hair and he's very skinny so he gets feminized by fandom a lot which bleeds into how fandom interacts with the character that he plays despite mike not having majority/majorly feminine traits
meanwhile noah grows up, goes through puberty, and gains a bit of muscle and suddenly will (in fandom's eyes) goes from being a sensitive, shy, sassy, and sweet kid to this macho guy that is super confident, super physically strong and athletic, and doesn't need to be saved or helped by anyone, and that literally sweeps people off their feet etc. like i'm sorry to tell you this but will is a damsel in distress lol. a HUUUUUUGE part of his character is that he was clocked way way way early as a young kid for being gay and that's why he got bullied. kids make fun of his clothes, they laugh at him, his father calls him slurs, teenagers and adults alike talk about him and his sexuality in a derogatory fashion, he gets called artistic and sensitive which in that era is the nice way of saying gay, etc etc. like. will turns into a scared hamster, he has the freeze response, he fights for his life but ultimately needs to accept help from others to save him, its about loving and being loved and allowing them to save you because there's nothing wrong with needing help, etc etc. like. will is canonically more effeminate than mike and yet bc finn is skinny with long hair and noah is bigger now people flip it around and that's just not who those characters are lol. they're CHARACTERS they're not finn and noah... and even then, noahs the one always wearing pink and wearing purses and who gets his (everything, really, but specifically) his sexuality picked the fuck apart bc of the way that he acts and so on and so forth. but, what...? he gets a couple of muscles and suddenly will is some macho hypermasc dude? why, because only skinny men can be seen as effeminate and sweet and sensitive and so on? since when is a body type a personality. its just so transparent that it's playing into the tiny subby girlboy x big buff hypermasc dom boy mlm stereotype and i Hate it.
another thing is that mike is always the one putting in the physical work, he jumps in without complaining, he helps carry people, he Knows How To Do Things etc etc while will is always the one off to the side letting everyone else work and when he Does do work it's the absolute bare minimum doing the easy part while sobbing and sighing and so on but... wait, noah has muscles so NAHHHH lets reverse it actually and make will the strong one and mike the weakling? why lol. what reason is there for this shift that came ONLY after noah's body changed.
mike is the knight in shining armor, he's the one that saves the damsel, he's the one that comes up with the plan and sees it through, he's the one trying his best even if he isn't always strong enough, he's the one protecting will with his body, he's the one hauling him up and moving him around, he's the one throwing hands IMMEDIATELY and throwing himself into the mix without hesitation, etc etc etc, meanwhile will is literally physically clinging to him, cowering behind him, looking to him to save him, and hyperventilating screaming crying whenever there's danger, and yet.... again..... after noah became no longer scrawny.... suddenly the roles in fanon got switched around? will literally draws mike as the guy standing in front of him, his knight in shining armor that he says has saved him in so many ways... and yet fandom wants to disregard that? just bc finn is skinny doesn't mean that mike isn't who he is. it doesn't mean that mike isn't capable and that he isn't the hero here. They Are Literally Characters they are not real they are not finn and noah they are CHARACTERS
they cast someone that was two years younger than everyone else with the babiest of babie faces for will because they wanted him to look a certain way and then when noah grew up they said they could either hide it or lean into it and guess what they did. they tried to hide it lmao. they put him in long sleeve shirts and baggy clothes (which laughably just made him look bigger lmao) and even asked noah to speak in a higher pitch. because guess what!!! noah is already not a Hypermasc Bodybuilder Worlds Strongest Man kind of guy, but will especially is NOT that. so why act like he is? will is Supposed to be the cute runt he represents so many things and included in that is innocence. everyone wants and has to protect him bc even though he's strong he still needs help. he cannot do this alone. the imagery of him being a speck compared to the mind flayer, a speck in the big big quarry, smaller than the rest of the party so much that he could literally disappear behind them, etc etc are all intentional.
like it just upsets me that noah gaining some muscle and growing taller made everyone turn will into someone that he isn't... there is nothing wrong with him being the way that he is and your body type does not change your entire fucking personality or life history....
(and you weren't being rude, you were just asking a question so don't even worry abt it!)

magical girl scar au (mostly) explained
this is an au based on an amalgamation of magical girl tropes! think more on the sailor moon side than madoka, although there are a lot of fairly dark elements to the story as well (which is like... perfectly in line with 'sailor moon' but some people think madoka invented 'magical girl story but it's dark' so i'm putting this here).
in it, scar accidentally lets a bunch of magical spirits out of a jar. that jar's guardian, a mysterious cat named jellie, tells him that she is going to make him a magical girl so he can find the spirits, fight them down from possessing people, and put them back in the jar, using the power of the fact the wishing star is approaching earth!
this starts out as a simple monster-of-the-week affair, but quickly grows more complicated as not only is there clearly a bit more going on than just 'spirits escaped a jar', but there's clearly some organized force conspiring against them. more than that, there's this other magical girl, calling herself backbird. for some reason, she fights against scar, and even on the side of the spirits, sometimes. scar KNOWS there has to be more to her, but...
plus, he still has his day job at the greenhouse. at least his coworkers are normal about all of this. grian hasn't even said anything about how many times scar's dipped in the middle of a shift!
and then things continue to get even more complicated from there.
so, putting this out here now, the BEST way to get the details is probably just to go through the tag, linked here in chronological order (this doesn't work on the mobile app i think sorry use the web browser). however given that its been MONTHS and there are. so many pages in this tag because every time i talk about this au i don't shut up about it... here's a really long post explaining a bunch of stuff that's in this au! under the cut so you don't have to like, deal with it being all over your dash. warning: this is long.
basic premise stuff:
scar is a very pink magical girl who. i think i never came up with a name for him. he fights with jellie's help. even transformed he has a wheelchair; that wheelchair changes into the form of various animals for mobility when he attacks. he has a magic bow that is his main weapon and is the person who can most easily de-possess someone when they're possessed by a spirit using those attacks.h early story he's a bit traditionally "pink magical girl" but he starts to come into his own more over the story. becomes a very powerful mage. later we learn he wasn't jellie's first choice, which is part of why things start spiraling out of control. she doesn't regret it.
grian is blackbird. scar does not know this, and grian does not know scar is his enemy while transformed. grian became blackbird on meeting the spirit of freedom shortly after the spirits escaped and, instead of becoming fully possessed, striking a deal, which unlocked his potential as a mage enough to become fully a magical girl. he is then found by the shadow organization, which, due to the fact that grian at the start of this fic is extremely isolated, he ALSO is forced to strike a deal with for his protection. his ultimate goal is actually full freedom for the spirits and the spread of magic, but his means to that end are... let's say "not good"... and he sees himself as a villain.
spirits are the magical representation of abstract concepts. on their own they don't have thoughts and feelings; prolonged exposure to humans, however, can give them those. (this is not a fact scar knows for at least half the story.) on their own, they seek out people who are somewhat like themselves and possess those people, turning them into monsters who have powers that are on-theme with the concept they represent. (for example, a spirit of fear would have powers based around fears, and a spirit of sleepiness would make everyone tired.) scar can fight these monsters, tire them out, and force the spirit to stop possessing a person, allowing him to capture them once more so they stop causing trouble.
the shadow organization is a cult-like organization that has existed since the time magic was common in the world; they believe that while magic should come back, it should only be harnessed in the hands of the few that would "use it correctly". there are actually several splinters of this organization, some of which are more benign than others, but most forms of the organization are scar's enemy, since they wish to use the spirits for their own illicit gain. they also have ties to parts of the government, where they often study what magic remains in the world in exchange for resources. these are the Mysterious Bad Guys, except that throughout the plot, we meet people like doc or etho or wels, who are perhaps... not as much of bad guys. let alone grian's situation...
while in the past the battle between the shadow organization and whoever jellie chooses tended to remain secret, this is one of the first times it has happened with modern technology, and ALSO scar broke the jar before jellie could choose someone, so neither side was actually prepared. as a result, a big element of this au is how these various magical conflicts interact with the public and the people in the main city setting, public opinion on our vigilante heroes, and the increasing realization that this whole magic situation is more complicated than either side makes it out to be.
the ultimate end of the au does have the spirits somewhat under control and magic free to the public after a near-apocalypse, as well as (most) of the shadow organization defeated, and the world adjusts to having magic under the wishing star anew. however the story theoretically takes a long time to get there, with it building from early-story "monster of the week" shenanigans and bringing in more plot elements over time.
here is an approximate timeline of what arcs happen when.
team scar:
scar is as above. he's the defacto leader. he becomes a celebrity in his own right. it's all very stressful.
cub is scar's longtime friend and roommate. he clocks that scar is a magical girl fairly early and insists on helping scar. for a good while, however, cub can't transform himself, and doesn't have any specific magical gifts. instead, he uses his wits and also his concealed carry permit to help scar fight. this comes to a head when he's possessed by the spirit of chaos, and afterwards manages to make a deal with the spirit himself, allowing him to transform. he has very mixed feelings about a lot of this and is protective over scar. his possession actually comes from him being very pent-up due to the fact that he cares a LOT about scar and keeps on having to be the voice of paranoid reason instead of the chaotic asshole he wants to be, so when a chaos spirit possesses him, despite the fact he knows all the warning signs very well, he just falls into it. later, cub befriending this spirit is when team scar starts to REALLY realize that there's more to everything than just "fight spirits stop evil organization".
bdubs is a civilian at first. however, as the plot progresses, civilians with great magical potential start unlocking magical gifts, and bdubs's is that he gets visions in his dreams. horribly annoyed that he can't sleep anymore, he decides to start trying to interfere with team scar, who he initially blames. however once he has a prophetic dream showing them having a terrible fate, he starts giving them anonymous tips instead, before storming in to help them as their "man in the chair" type archetype. eventually, he transforms on his own due to his magical potential and joins the team after saving their lives. idk what else to say about him, bdubs is bdubs.
jellie is something adjacent to a spirit. she got the name from scar; she thinks its silly and cute. she was created by the Last Mage long ago to keep an eye on the jar of spirits and prevent magic from escaping into the world; she's actually quite lonely, as scar is one of the first mages she's ever had who treats her like a friend and a valuable member of the team. while she definitely nags, she ultimately cares deeply for scar and the others.
spirits/magic:
so, spirits! already explained how they work; they're sort of like clow cards in cardcaptor or akuma in miraculous, though, if you need design thoughts. (clow cards and youma sailor moon were my main inspirations but the akuma comparison is not wrong.)
long ago, in the distant past, everyone had the ability to use magic as powered by the wishing star. however, due to the way mages used this power and the fact that no magic is truly free, it caused the creation of spirits. the spirits wreaked havoc on the world, so using the wishing star and his abilities, the Last Mage created jellie to guard the spirits before using his power to seal away the spirits, sacrificing himself and also locking away most magic from the world forever. however, sometimes the wishing star gets particularly close to the planet and a few spirits escape, which is why jellie has the ability to temporarily awaken a mage who is the most like the Last Mage to prevent magic from truly leaking into the land again.
a group of former mages, incensed at the loss of their power and believing the real issue with magic being in the world was that the Wrong Kinds Of People could use it, created the shadow organization, intending to use magic to take power for themselves.
spirits being freed, jellie making a new mage, and the shadow organization fighting to try to take power for themselves continued in a cycle through history. additionally, as organized governments formed, they often hired members of the shadow organization to work out the remnants of that ancient magical civilization. while the existence of this cycle/magic isn't really known anymore, it's also not NOT known. aka: there's DEFINITELY some alternate history here that i haven't worked out.
scar is NOT a mage like the first mage; he's just like, a guy. however, in the process of helping save jellie, who he saw as an innocent cat, from some jerks, while she was trying to find who she would make her next mage, he broke the jar. left with no options and an awareness that scar was her only choice, jellie picked a mage early, and she made it scar. this initial small act of breaking the cycle is a large part of why everything gets out of hand - none of the ancient powers-that-be are fully in place for another round, and the people selected for the war this time are all people who have their own agendas and are less likely to continue to perpetuate it.
as the wishing star grows near and the longer the spirits are freed, more people realize their own magical potential. most people who can do magic can only do one or two little things unassisted; oftentimes they don't have control over this. these cantrips can still be a problem. very rarely, there are people who can awaken as magical girls, but they are pretty much incapable of doing this on their own; they need a push.
however, a spirit and a human can form a pact where that spirit boosts a human's magical potential, allowing them to become a magical girl. this is ALMOST LIKE a spirit possessing someone, except the human remains in control of themselves (mostly). over time, however, a human who is in a pact like this may retain the ability to be a magical girl on their own. this is also dangerous, though, as the higher a mage's magical potential, the more disastrous the consequences should they actually become possessed, and the more destructive the resulting monster will be.
magical girls are typically hard to possess though since they're very magically realized.
the shadow organization has tools and weaponry that can affect magic and magic-users, and are studying it. this is part of what grian's role is later on; the shadow organization seeks to replace him, since literally everyone in that arrangement knows grian has his own agenda. that ends... badly... but it's part of what happens.
human weaponry CAN help but also like, sometimes you're bringing a tank to fight godzilla, you know? in order to get someone un-possessed once they go full monster, you almost always need a mage who knows what they're doing.
civilians/the public:
scar makes no effort to hide magical girl fights and this is the digital era, baby! the existence of a magical girl fighting monsters becomes public knowledge very quickly, and is also part of why scar keeps his identity secret for most of the au - it won't end well if everyone knows who he is.
attitudes towards the magical girls changes throughout the au; some people blame team scar for the fact the attacks are happening at all, some people adore team scar and treat them as celebrities, and some people, to grian's horror, even think blackbird is pretty cool, in a "well i'm gonna root for the villain now to be edgy" kind of way. depending on at what point we're at in the story, how many people are in what categories changes.
there's an early arc i'm emotionally attached to where the city is sent like, a branch of the military to help the monster problem. at first scar is really grateful for the help (cub trusts less), but they collaboration breaks down, partially because the shadow organization is involved, partially in the "the government doesn't trust these magical girls" way, and scar and cub are forced to fight their way out. it's one of the low points of their public relations and is a complete debacle.
stress is mayor and ends up deciding to throw her lot behind the magical girls even despite this later and it's a risky political move that pays off locally; typically, locals are FAR more likely to be trusting of team scar, due to being far more likely to know at least one person who wouldn't be alive if it weren't for them.
a support group exists for victims of possessions/people who know victims of possessions. this is where a number of side characters, like team zit, all meet and interact with the plot after they have been possessed. cub joins this group at one point as well. the support group in my head is the focus of most of the "civilian-centric" episodes, as is a few various reporters who interview the main gang.
some other notable civilian characters include pearl, who knew impulse online and moved into town after the monster attacks started because she heard an old friend she lost touch with after A Childhood Incident might be living nearby. she investigates despite being pretty directly told "you're going to get killed".
there's a whole Bit with mumbo where he's like, this background character who CONSTANTLY GETS POSSESSED and it's sort of like, in my head there's a running gag in the theoretical tv show that is this au where the gang starts the episode rescuing mumbo again.
team zit all originally met in online chat groups but only met each other in person through the support group, after each individually having various bad encounters with spirits.
also shoutout to the joke that hawkeye is an in-universe superhero who scar tries to name himself after that no one lets him do because Copyright.
xisuma is a very oblivious man who owns the flower shop that scar and grian work at for their day jobs; he notices scar and grian constantly taking suspicious time off but just like, assumes they're secretly superspies, which is so close and yet so far.
grian/the shadow organization:
grian's arc focuses on him STARTING OUT as a villain, but over time and also being worn down by scar, realizing he can take a different path. he is a VERY TYPICAL dark magical girl trope in this way. scar realizes who he is before grian realizes who scar is, but doesn't say anything. over time, grian changes from a villain to more of like... a rival, and then, after the king of monsters arc, in which grian is captured by the shadow organization and allows the spirit of freedom to fully possess him and has to be rescued, a very late-game ally. he's a fun one because he has like, a halo of knives and a very dark magical girl woe is me vibe, it's fun.
doc is a member of the shadow organization who, on interacting with members of the outside world like ren more, starts to realize what he's doing is wrong and attempt to protect people a little from the shadow organization's machinations. he gets in trouble for this, but grian helps him get out later, and he helps the final assault.
etho is a low-level grunt in the shadow organization who is very deliberately bad at his job. he befriends bdubs, just 'cause, and bdubs ends up having a whole arc of being paranoid on realizing etho is a member of the shadow organization and seems to KNOW and, oh god, are they all in danger? they aren't. etho is just etho.
wels is also a member of the shadow organization on a lower rank (possibly in a splinter group) and, unlike etho, his arc is a much more seriously "okay so he grew up in this organization basically brainwashing him and is slowly Getting Out but what does he do with that". that's wels's thing.
the shadow organization is meant to be an amalgamation of The Enemy in magical girl shows. a number of MEMBERS are decent but the actual leadership/top of the organization is The Shadowy Enemy. hence why they're always referred to as the shadow organization.
and for NOW those are the major details i think you need? i THINK? let me know if there's other stuff you think i should have included in this!

can u tell us more abt al and smunker lore!!
Tumblr media
its not really anything tangible or even interesting its just the current backdrop for my little continuous daydream i explore before sleeps
Foundational info:
(in past) Cow Al is struggling to recover from emotional crisis experienced in college (traumatic relationship), + tries to hold down some jawb but finds himself unable to stay in that environment away from home (none of his "friends" acknowledge the turmoil which makes him feel more lost), + moves back to family farm.
He likes doing different kinds of manual jobs which are always needed around + he does have that "my parents are my best friends" thing going on so he kind of just stays there to present day.
He lives in a little, idk what else to call it but a mobile home, but its the longer rectangular ones ykwim, some ways off the main Hub. (Also there's lots of focus on community in my furryverse + there's lots of non al family furs living in and working on the place + sharing resources and work and such. Its not a HUGE place but its big ^_^)
Anyway, Smunker moves in to the little forest that you cld walk to from the farm area. He lives in a little sunken tree stump den thing hee heeeee. Not many other furs live there, + there's actually more Lesser Animals (what i call just regular non furry animals) present
-
The two of em meet at a grocery store, there was a relevant little point here that I forgot, which was that one of em wasn't even supposed to be there that first day for (x reason). Whatever.
The area that Cow Al lives in doesn't have very many Different looking furs. Al's family is actually all natural colors too. So he sees this pink smunk and goes a little insane (positive) (he promises later its not just because smunker looks different, but it was what drew his eye) but they never really interact (al keeps going to that same store Just In Case lol) until one day (cliche incoming) the little wheeled ladder that helps smaller furs get to higher shelves isn't available + he gets to help smunker get something from high up (he all but runs to be able to be the person to do this LOL)
Al actually has game + is confident, he's just out of practice from prior Events. He loves being social and misses making/being able to make friends so he does in fact manage to build up on interactions with Smunker...they become friends ➡️ realize they live close to each other.
Al actually accidentally damages smunker's home at some point by accident, + houses them while it's fixed, and there's another instance where smunker gets his leg caught in an illegal bear/foot trap on the walk back home at night, and then Al is also adamant on keeping an eye on him while he heals (+ is also the one who had to go help him get out of said trap...its literally a whole dramatic thing.)
I think I'm keeping both of these events as canon because it leads to the funny little situation of Al being like no wayyyyy i actually for real like this guy now that we've spent more time together like this...i need him to sleep on my belly to live :3 and cant stop having weird dreams about him. Idk if he feels the same. heeeeeeeeeelp. While skunker is like. Im for real going to kill myself for inconveniencing this person. He probably thinks im the biggest nuisance ever. I've overstayed my welcome for sure.
I haven't yet decided on the event that gets em Together. Might just be a little "date" at nearby ducky pond or something LOL. Skunker is shocked either way like huhh I didn't even know you liked me... Al has to get used to having a small partner again + navigate a relationship that doesn't suck ass again. Smunker has to get used to having big nice bf who cares about them. They like each other

I was tagged by @unanchored-ship, thank you!
Favorite Ships
I am not really very much interested in classical fandom 'shipping', I have to say. I occasionally do enjoy fictional relationships in the media I consume, but I would say that 'shipping' is too big a word.
My profile picture also informs me to type out "HMS Preston" for some reason. ;-)
Last Song
Come Here, Fellow Servant, from the afterpiece play High Life Below the Stairs (1759) by James Townley. As I understand, while the words survive, the original melody did not; this is a modern arrangement of what the song may have sounded like.
The play satirises the social hierarchies of the time, with the servants belowstairs trying to mimic the dissipated manner of living of their sybaritic, back-stabbing employers. The song is sung at the servants' secret house party, to which they invite a few aristocratic types interested in the delightful novelty of having to do with commoners. The song, composed by party guest Sir Harry, is sung by Kitty, an upwardly mobile maidservant who thinks highly of herself because she received an education and speaks French.
While perhaps some of the portrayals of characters or critique of contemporary issues in the play do not withstand the test of time (Kitty's belief in her education for instance would certainly carry a positive connotation nowadays), its core message, namely that thoughtlessly emulating someone just because they're considered to be rich and famous holds up poignantly well.
Last Film
Der Bestatter - Der Film. A Swiss comedy based on a 7-season series of the same name. Luc, an ex-policeman-turned-funeral-director-turned-Costa-Rican-beach-bar-owner and his friends, the two police officers Anna Maria and Dörig, ex-apprentice and now successful goth funeral director Fabio, his quasi surrogate mother Erika and Semmelweiß, the somewhat strange coroner have to band together one last time as a holiday stay at a remote hotel to celebrate Erika's birthday is unexpectededly interrupted when the hotel director dies under highly suspicious circumstances.
I can only warmly recommend both the series and the film; not only are the murder cases Luc and his friends solve gripping and often overarching an entire season, giving the storylines ample time to develop, Der Bestatter also deals very touchingly with topics such as loss, grief, death, terminal illness and facing past mistakes while never taking itself too seriously.
Currently Reading
The Spite of Fortune by Kishandra Fulford, a biography about Louisa Carolina Colleton Graves, an 18th/19th century noblewoman with a rather eventful life story. I am reading it not so much for her as for the information on her husband's family, the Graves'. While the author evidently poured a lot of effort into the book, some of her judginess against the physical appearance of some of the people featured in her book, a total lack of foot- or endnotes and the occasional spelling and grammar mistakes sadly don't sit quite right with me. With the right editor, she could have told Louisa Carolina Colleton Graves' fascinating, and also somewhat tragic, story a lot more effectively.
Currently Craving
Spring, a new pleated skirt, and a walk. Maybe some chocolate, too.
@clove-pinks, @professorlehnsherr-almashy and @my-deer-friend, would you like to join in? If anybody else wants to share their list, consider yourself tagged by me.

S2 Teens and the Nurse's Office HCs Taylor: Knows his mom left his emergency inhaler in the nurse's office! Also aware that the nurse has a name....does not know what it is and has no idea where the room is in the school. He actively avoids acknowledging any scuffs he gets on school grounds (which he thinks is cool to do). "It's only a flesh wound!" Besides, he has a first aid kit in his go-bag anyway.
(Hcs continued below)
Pretty sure one of his first high school interactions with Normal was this one time he needed that inhaler and went into the hall pretty confidently but gradually realized he had no idea where to go. But Normal was also out in the halls for some reason and helped him out. Sometimes, Taylor has nightmares about the view of the hazy, ominous, teeny mascot looming over his crouched figure. The boy sat down to try and catch his breath at the time. He attempted to swear the nurse and Normal to secrecy about the incident due to his hurt pride. Whether or not he succeeded is up to debate. (At least Normal was easily convinced.) Anyways, he probably has one of those school maps in his go-bag now. Normal: On friendly terms with the nurse and often helps escort or carry other students (from cheer team or band or just gym class) to the office. Has his motion sickness related meds stored in the office. I think the nurse is the parent of one of the marching band kids, so they often go to the games/competitions. The two chat about the games/coaches/band teachers sometimes. Norm enjoys getting the latest gossip! He has gotten overheated twice, nauseous once, but mainly he visits due to workshop splinters and paper cuts. He's still trying to use those injuries as evidence he should be allowed to wear his mascot (foam hand gloves) at all times. Normal tries to keep Teeny in moderately good condition. When the costume is in need of repair, he'll go to the nurse's office (or the drama class) to borrow materials to repair it. His uncle and dad taught him and his sister how to sew. Scary: Notorious nurse's office guest, her make-shift piercings (mainly paperclips) keep getting her sent there. Her dramatic groans when she hears the usual lectures can be heard across the halls. Some people think that wing of the school is haunted. She's pretty happy about that and writes several ghost-themed poetry entries in her journal. Doesn't talk much to avoid having to stay there any longer than necessary. Unrelated to piercings, she's visited due to scrapes before too. While she scowls quietly in the office, the girl walks out of there while smiling just a tiny bit at the cutesy character themed bandages on her fingers. The nurse usually gives her black, gray, or pink ones. Lincoln: He was nervous about meeting the school nurse at first! Very used to his dads taking care of any first aid/med related stuff or handling it himself if they were working. Link, much like Normal, occasionally helps other soccer teammates/classmates to the office. Has convinced a few stubborn friends to go to the nurse's office too. (Scary and Taylor, Normal is thankfully reasonable). Most of his visits for himself are around spring and summer when his allergies tend to bother him the most. When he is resting, the athlete plays mobile games or counts the ceiling tiles. Like Scary, he keeps mostly quiet when in the office (its peaceful). Lincoln always leaves a thank you note for the nurse on spare, neatly folded notebook paper. Hermie: He prefers the San Dimas nurse over the Chaperal one any day. It may or may not be due to the pride pins the nurse wears or the various posters around the little room, the fully stacked bookcase, or the scattered figurines. Chaperal may have a fancy and big office, but this one...actually felt welcoming, lived-in, and cozy. He keeps the thought to himself though and is otherwise polite as necessary towards any school staff. During one of his free periods, he will sometimes come in to help the nurse reorganize stuff. Been getting more first-aid knowledge this way too. His favorite thing in the office is the little Harley Quinn bobble-head sitting on the nurse's desk. Some memorable moments at the office include that one time some small background props fell onto him and a surprise allergic reaction to a stage outfit's fabric. Neither were fun experiences and he is certain to prevent them from happening again. Well at least the outfit one since he takes charge of that part of the theater class/club soon after.
Hermie has plenty of opportunities to snoop around the office. But, besides getting the chance to slide his own cover info into the record cabinet, he hasn't gotten much else out of it though! At least being sneaky is a temporary thrill of its own?

With all the things you've posted looking at the mobile suits of various series, I wondered if you had any specific tastes in mecha design. Are there particular details or design cues that you're especially fond of?
@wordsandrobots, I fully expect to follow this up at sone point (and likely run out of pictures/want to ramble even more), so I’m going to pull it out as a proper post:
That is an *excellent* question, actually, since I hadn’t considered my tastes in such a broad scale before (and well-timed too, since I’ve got a post talking about Gusion in the works). It’s why I typically like talking about design series, since I can compare and contrast within that scope.
I typically focus on Gundam, since I generally like it as a series and there’s a massive variety of designs to appreciate, with a broad range. I’m largely influenced by the Anime, model kits and occasionally videogames, though in a lot of cases I can like a character, and that can lead to a greater appreciation of their mobile suit.
Specific design notes…. I tend to notice them more in the context of an artist - I adore a lot of Ippei Gyoubu’s design touches, from the bright colours to the detailed hands to the panel lines and little touches that you’d never notice. Kazuhisa Kondo has the organic shape and uniquely rounded weaponry and it’s styled in such a way as to apprear blurry, almost ephemeral, like you’re glimpsing it through a haze of smoke and gunfire and dirt, while frantically turning to get away, get away from the conflict. And yet the designs are still recognisable, and in a lot of respects draw from contemporary sources.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m similarly fond of Makoto Kobayashi and Kuino Okawara, though I typically struggle to explain how (Makoto Kobayashi tends to have really good composition? I think. So they look simple and detailed all at once, and they’re part of a scene, so it’s what you choose to focus on? And Okawara just makes it look so…. Effortless)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hajime Katoiki I do like as well, I just struggle to nail down why. I suppose it’s because of how clean his designs look.
Tumblr media
Moving away from the preference of artists (and honestly, it’s only that some of their design hallmarks are very distinct), I often have a preference for specific “types” of mobile suit. I talked about this a little in regards to the Code: Fairy designs, but I often find myself drawn to specialist mobile suits over generalist ones. From a modelling perspective, I often like each one to be distinct in a lineup in some way (unless they’re similar models, then I just put them together so the differences show). Often this can just be a distinct weapon, but it’s just as often the form of the mobile suit (the Gusion’s a good example here, since it draws the eye due to its heavyset build, understated colour scheme and giant hammer) or even the colour (see: the Infinite Justice being bright pink). This tends to encompass a lot of close-quarters units (like the Pixy and the Efreets) simply because there’s a lot of ways to do that well. Another reason is that whereas generalist suits tend to show up in large roles throughout the series, specialist ones tend towards “monster-of-the-week”, typically being an obstacle to be defeated or just having one or two cool scenes (like the Efreet Schneid). So I find they stick in my head a lot better.
Tumblr media
I can like a lot of designs from a series as well, but of course I tend to have a lot of different criteria as to what designs I like, depending on the suit’s billing and purpose (what makes a great grunt suit and what makes a great protagonist suit are quite different after all). I do very much like a lot of the UC Grunt suits (though I’ll probably touch on that in more detail at a later point), for example, but I only really like one from Anno Domini, the Tieran (since it looks so much like a walking tank as opposed to the spindly nature of the Flags and Enacts). That said, I don’t think that the Flags, Enacts and GN-X’s are bad designs, they’re just not really the sort of thing I like.
In fact, I reckon that’s why I’m particularly fond of Iron-Blooded Orphans’ Aesthetics, since a lot of the units from that series would be close-quarters specialists in any other series. But because melee is so common in Post Disaster, virtually everything carries a nice solid sharp stick. The only exceptions I can think of are Gusion Rebake (which is more of an all-rounder), Flauros (and even that has hatchets that leave cqc a viable option) and Dainsleif Grazes (which only have one arm, so….).

pagan min as a dragon.............this idea has been in my head for so long i’ve got like prototype pagan dragons and shit but this is my final design for him
if you want to see me go in-depth about him for reasons that are related to mental illness (i have it and it is his fault) there is more :)
okay so. i’m going to explain his entire design since it makes me happy and i’m going to start with the colors
obviously he’s super flashy and extravagant in canon so i couldn’t just Not let that cross over here. i tried to make him look like a living rainbow without actually making him a rainbow BUT i do have my reasons for each of the colors.
the golden orange-y and yellow parts are obviously, well, to represent gold and the fact that he is ummmmmmm Technically royalty despite stealing the throne? the combination of blue on gold is relative to the golden path and how he and ishwari were a thing yada yada . red is for the primary color his army wears and for lakshmana because her whole shrine is decked out in the color red and pink is for his lovely suit:)
...i couldn’t make it that vibrant pink his suit actually is or it wouldn’t have fit as well into the rest of the colors. also. all the colors are taken off the rakshasa pagan thingy but i gave them meaning to make it fancier ++++ it wasn’t my intention but the way his colors fade into each other reminds me of all the colorful ?dust (i don’t know what it is. is it just powder) in far cry 4 so that makes me happy
speaking of rakshasa pagan, the other parts of his design are very much based off of it. specifically, the bird one in shangri-la. i included the way pagan’s rakshasa face looks as best as i could but the rest of the little intricate details i all sponged off of the bird, like the armor and the crown and the huge talons. the crown i felt especially needed to be included if nothing else bc well. y’know LMAO
the vaguely peacock-looking feathers are because that seems to be his motif for himself and his army and kyrat or whatever tf i don’t really know. all i know is i see peacocks associated with him and BAM he gets some pretty feathers
p.s. ik the pose is weird in that image let’s all hold hands and pretend that he’s climbing down from something
Tumblr media
okay bear with me . the wing size might be inconsistent but shhh don’t look at that it isn’t there also thanks to tumblr for maybe tanking the quality of these (we’ll see) . ANYWAY
he gets multiple limbs because of the golden statues (or statue singular? is there just one? i haven’t played it but god i want to) that are in his dlc and it gives me another reason to stretch the definition of “dragon” which is always super fun for me :)
his face is mostly immobile aside from being able to blink and breathe and close/open his mouth but it’s like his jaw is on hinges with the way it can only move up and down (and stiffly) because i want it to really feel like he’s got a mask on or something. like if you look at the rakshasa bird its face isn’t all that. mobile. it is made of some kind of metal i think and i tried to mimic that effect + the idea of his mask in the dlc
another p.s.! let’s all keep holding hands and pretending . this time he’s landing after flying. he doesn’t normally stand on two feet
Tumblr media
his wings are heavy to the point that his front legs can’t really support him properly sometimes even though he’s got two pairs, so he often uses his wings as support to walk like how wyverns do. he feels like it’s inconvenient because he doesn’t want to get his feathers dirty and without a beak/easy way to close his mouth it’s annoying for him to preen them but that’s just an L he has to take
Tumblr media
and this is just him flying 4 literally no reason. i struggle drawing animals/beings that have wings in flight (and also i struggle with the tucked-in legs that come with those) so i wanted to see if i could. i think it turned out okay? maybe
i hope this made sense and that i wasn’t totally incoherent about this! thank you for reading (if you did) (and perhaps expect more dragons... i’m a big fan of them lol)

Reasons Why Ruby from RWBY and I are Literally the Same Person:
Deep love for cool weaponry. Particularly sniper rifles. And scythes. And being mobile.
We have the same fashion. Like literally. I’d wear ANY of Ruby’s outfits from any season at anytime and I WOULD ROCK THE HELL OUT OF IT. Combat skirts are fire.
Same color palette. I love reds and pinks and blacks and whites and I love all of the color combinations.
We both have the same habit of putting others first even when we’re dying on the inside. I’ve been wearing a brave face for years. Damn ourselves, everyone else takes precedence.
I’m a very bubbly individual when I get comfortable with people. I’m an optimist at my core. I try to be cynical, but it’s a bad look on me, so being able to be the excited person I can be is the most freeing.
We were both born with something that puts people in a compromising position to be around. Me and my ADHD and transness and her with her silver eyes. We struggle with them to the point of it being a hidden crutch where we want to be proud of it but can’t because it puts other people in danger.
We’re reaching the end of our rope on trying to keep a bottle on our mental exhaustion.
We still have that twinge of immaturity in us that never got to fully run its course because we were too busy being traumatized. We’ve grown up, but it’s clear we still have some kid left in us that will never go away.
We rarely feel proud of ourselves. We do, but it’s rare and we also take failures and imperfections kind of hard even though we don’t show it a ton.
Did I mention the red, the scythes, and the snipers?
We have special interests that we could talk for years on and it annoys the hell out of people, but we WANT to talk about them.
We’re silent, cooperative leaders. I don’t like being a leader at all, but I somehow always end up in that kind of role because I guess we just fit there more or less?
We both drink milk. Straight. Something that apparently less people do than I thought.
We’re impulsive. It comes with the ADHD.
We love girls, but it doesn’t look like it because we’re so in our own heads. We also are on the asexual and aromantic spectrum to some degree.
We both LOVE roses. Especially crimson ones.
And many more things honestly.
Thank you for coming to my hyperfixation rant and you can just ignore me because no one really cares about it. @ebevkisk

Mechanize, Mobilize, (Un)Mythicize
Chapter 2: The Evacuation of Stick City
The world is ending, villains and heroes are working together, and they need to save as many people as they possibly can before the internet goes down. What could go wrong?
i'm so incredibly WIRED this week for. Obvious Reasons™. but i just realized i should probably clarify- while this is not the same universe as my macaroni au (*coughSHAMELESSPLUGcoughcough*) the two fics i published in the macaroni au so far more-or-less happened in this au, too. just with the major change of "the sticks had to speak through pantomime and/or written text" lmao
dark and chosen have still Communicated™ and Deleted The Line Of Code That Alan Put Into Dark™.
mango and purple have still had a Macaroni Incident™.
except instead of "the fic i'm building up to with the macaroni au" happening shortly after the Macaroni Incident™, this is happening instead. also mango and purple here are being quicker to figure out their footing with one another than their macaroni counterparts lmao
As Red and Reuben soared through the wifi tunnel and into a stranger's device, she took the bundle from his mouth and scritched him behind the ears. Reuben was such a smart pig, such a good boy.
Reuben leaned his head into the scritching with a quiet snuffle.
The end of the tunnel came up, and Red jolted at the sight that greeted her- program icons swarmed angrily around an animated mech like a horde of infuriated wasps. They were holding off the invader fairly well, but even as she watched, the connection flickered dangerously.
She glanced at Reuben, then pulled out her diamond pickaxe and turned back to the incoming firewall.
Before she could even chip at the barrier, however, Reuben reared back-
-and blasted a crater through the wall!
Red couldn't help giggling silently. Reuben was the best pig.
The icon swarm and the mech all froze and looked at the two of them.
Red just sprinted for the mech and went to town on it. Reuben quickly joined in, and by the time the icon swarm had finished pulling back, the mech was nothing but a heap of mangled metal on the taskbar.
Red steadied her breathing, then, on a whim, shoved some of the broken pieces of the mech into her hammerspace. Maybe Yellow would be able to do something with them.
One of the icons, a VLC traffic cone, tilted curiously.
Red just ran halfway back to the wifi tunnel, turned around, and pointed frantically at it. She even brought her free hand up for emphasis- they had to get going now!
Reuben oinked and jumped next to her, lifting one of his front paws and one of the rear ones as he looked directly at the wifi tunnel.
The computer shuddered from the force of whatever was going on outside, and the icons quickly swirled past Red and into the tunnel, with her and Reuben running after them just before the connection cut.
Orange shot through the tunnel as fast as they could, reaching forward with the Minecraft icon at the last second to make a one-block wide hole in the barrier and speeding through head-first. They hit the ground with their hands and flipped forward, only realizing after they fully landed that the desktop was empty of sapient programs and stick figures alike.
What it was not empty of was a User's cursor.
It took a second for Orange to get a handle on the computer's webcam and focus on the Outside, but then they saw the User flinch back in wide-eyed shock. She must not have had a functioning microphone, because even though she mouthed the words "What the…" Orange heard none of it.
Orange shook their head frantically, and their orange text popped into view above their head. No time to explain! There's a bunch of robots attacking people out there and in the internet- you gotta get to safety!
The User blinked in shock, but then her computer shook and her head whipped around to look out a window. Orange didn't have a very good angle to see what she was looking at, but her face quickly lost its healthy pink color in favor of a ghostly white.
My friends and I split up to look for any stick figures we could evacuate, but it looks like it's just you in here. Orange told her seriously as they ran back for the tunnel. Raise the alarm if you can and stay safe!
The User's face hardened, and she nodded once before moving to get up. At the same time, Orange dove back through the hole they'd made and into the tunnel, closing the hole and severing the connection with the webcam as they did.
Well, that was one computer that wasn't gonna be hijacked or stolen or whatever the plan was. Hopefully the User would be alright.
As Orange streaked down the tunnel, they clenched the fist that wasn't holding the Minecraft icon.
Whoever was doing this, Orange was gonna have some words for them.
Yellow swooped to the side and almost picked an IP to evacuate at random, but one of the addresses sent a jolt down her spine. Whether it was horror, hope, or something in-between, she wasn't entirely sure.
Whatever it was, it was enough for her to streak up the tunnel as fast as her elytra could take her, readying her staff hand for the moment the other side came into view.
She'd investigated the Minecraft server Alan usually played in after Mango's plans had been foiled. While he'd long ago saved it to a list of usual servers to go to, the IP address she'd found was an exact match to the one she was now racing to reach.
The other side of the tunnel rose up to meet her, and Yellow swung her staff forward and deleted two blocks'-worth of it so that she could land safely on the taskbar.
Immediately, it became apparent that this device was used primarily as the host for the Minecraft server. Task Manager was open, but it was the only program active aside from the one that actually ran the server.
Yellow flew for the computer's storage and dug straight for the Minecraft worlds folder. For a moment, she was worried that there would be multiple worlds to sift through (and she didn't know if she had the heartlessness to save one and leave the rest to die), but when only one world came up, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Even though she wasn't actively within the game, as she got closer to the folder, the control block in her staff resonated with it, the faint sounds of worried mobs reaching her ears.
Yellow set her shoulders and created a new .zip file, and she swiftly moved the folder containing all the world's information into it. There was a hefty amount of world to move, but the computer must have been a high-performance one bought specially to handle an online multiplayer Minecraft server, because the data transfer didn't take more than a few moments.
As soon as the world was safely contained, she tried to pocket the .zip archive, but the filesize was just too unwieldy. As a hasty Plan B, she slung the .zip over her shoulder like an oversized messenger bag, then bolted back through the wifi tunnel before it could collapse and trap her there.
Mango ran through his basement, breaking as many of his remaining command blocks as possible and snatching them up. He knew better than most what they could do in the wrong hands, after all, and the whatever-it-was that was trying to take over the interspace certainly qualified.
His phone buzzed, and he spared it a quick glance.
Just Now Purple: all got out saafe comingto get you rn
A knot that had tied itself right in Mango's chest loosened up at that, and he went back to destroying his work on a second wind.
The ground shook outside, and Mango broke the last command block with an air of finality, the last of the devices powering down and leaving only the nether portal as a source of light.
Then that, too, flickered out.
Taking his cue to leave, Mango ran back down the underground tunnel, snatching torches off the wall as he passed them, and clambered up the ladder as fast as his limbs could carry him. He only paused for a moment at the top, making sure nothing had invaded the house while he was downstairs, then hauled himself up and replaced the uppermost part of the ladder and the trapdoor with a block of wood planks. It was still very visibly different from the rest of the floor, but with a rug dragged over it, it would hopefully go unnoticed by any would-be burglars.
He would have preferred to stay down there, perhaps even to set up a base of sorts, but he knew just how malleable the interspace could be. With the sky going dark, possibly permanently, he couldn't afford to box himself in somewhere that could easily cease to be.
(Watching Goldie get torn to shreds was more than enough evidence that it would be painful.)
He gathered every piece of his prototype staffs up and shoved them into his hammerspace, and soon enough the only remnant of his attempts to destroy Minecraft was the murky chalk left over after he and Purple had tried cleaning the wall.
Then again, if Mango hadn't known what the cloud-like shapes on the wall were supposed to be from the start, he doubted he would have figured it out just by looking at them.
He gently pocketed the nearest photo of himself and Goldie, still in its frame, and he managed to pick up a selfie Purple had done with him just last week before the door burst open.
"You will come with us to safety," stated the mech in front of him.
Mango slowly put up his hands, displaying just enough of the selfie for the mech to see that it was a mere photo, then carefully reached for an empty photo frame, slid the selfie inside, and put the entire thing in his hammerspace.
The mech stepped aside to let him pass by, and he held his head high as he did exactly that.
Around him, his neighbors were being herded out in much the same way as he, and Mango lifted his gaze slightly to watch the sky.
Any minute now, kids.
The mech ushering him out of his house paused, then all of the mechs turned and primed their weapons in the same direction.
Mango took advantage of the distraction to sweep out a leg and swipe his escort's legs out from under it, then make a break for the outside of the group.
Immediately, he got a front-row seat as Purple and Green swooped overhead, tag-teamed the mechs into firing on each other in a matter of moments, and were greeted by a round of excited applause from his neighbors.
Purple scanned the sticks on the ground for a second, then dove down in front of Mango and grabbed him in a quick, tight hug.
The tension in Mango's shoulders relaxed, and he returned it just as strongly.
The moment passed, and he and Purple turned to Green.
Green nodded, then took out a pair of elytra just like their own, held them up for Mango's neighbors to see, then tossed them to Mango.
Sensing the need for a demonstration, Mango quickly equipped them and took to the air.
Purple and Green both took out more of the elytra, passing them out to everyone there, then Green whistled and pointed to the sky, where almost half the IP addresses in view were blackened and dull, with more joining them with each passing second.
Mango nodded, and he and the rest shot up after the kids, following them up to the few remaining active IPs as the world around them grew darker and darker.
Blue shot through the wifi tunnel at top speed, holding his crossbow as steadily as his shaking hands would let him.
The world was ending, Alan had needed to escape without him and his friends, and things were bad enough that the Dark Lord of all people was working with them to evacuate devices, but he was fine.
Really!
He took a deep breath in and let it out. Slowly.
Repeatedly.
He just had to remember that he'd survived everything else that had tried to end him. He'd survived it when Mango had tried to delete Minecraft with them all inside! He'd survived it when the witch turned him into a netherwart-harvesting piston! He'd survived it when he'd taken a lava bath!
And those were just the most recent things he'd lived to tell the tale of!
He could do this!
He slammed face-first into the invisible barrier at the end of the tunnel.
Blue shook his head to clear it, then brought up his diamond pickaxe-
-and mined clean through it!
Yellow's boosts were no joke, huh?
He jumped out and onto the bottom of the screen, only to have to duck as an energy blast nearly took off his head. When he looked in the direction of the source, he gaped for a moment as a handful of drawn stick figures- solidheads just like him- fought off one of the animated mechs.
They weren't doing very well- the mech easily overpowered them one-on-one, and only their numbers gave them any kind of advantage- but they did well enough to give Blue the split second he needed to bring his crossbow up to bear.
His aim was true, and the rocket struck the mech in the back of the head.
The rest of the fighters froze in shock, but Blue just charged forward, switched back to his bow, and fired off a volley of arrows into every weak point he could see. The moment he got close enough, he shoved the bow back into his hotbar and started punching.
That snapped the others out of it.
While adding another stick to the fight might not have helped under normal circumstances, it quickly became clear to Blue that his attacks were doing enough damage to turn the tide, and the mech was soon smashed to bits.
The other sticks watched him warily for a moment, which was fair. He did just sort of show up out of nowhere with massive power at his disposal.
Distantly, he wondered if this was how the Chosen One had felt when he and his friends had all started bowing to them.
Instead of silently leaving like the Chosen One had, however, Blue pointed for the wifi tunnel and gestured hurriedly for the sticks to follow him through.
They hesitated for a moment, but then the computer shook. Blue snatched up one of the metal plates from the mech, one with part of some kind of gold insignia on it, and held it up for the sticks to see. Once they'd all looked, he dropped it and pointed where the Outside would be.
The sticks stiffened.
Point made.
He tossed them all elytra of their own, then turned and ran back for the tunnel, their footsteps behind him giving him enough strength to jump straight in.
As Green and Purple led their group of escapees higher into the sky, Green caught sight of it as their friends all started popping out of various IP addresses. Some of them were followed by sticks or programs, some weren't, but as soon as they were satisfied by the number of people they brought with them, they quickly flew up and into more IPs.
The newcomers all glanced around in confusion, but Green just brought a hand to their head and whistled sharply. Once all attention was on them, they waved in greeting.
The sight of Green and Purple's approaching group of escapees seemed to help them relax a bit, and for a moment, Green let themself hope they could all get away without any further issues.
Then the Dark Lord popped out of an IP, holding another stick by the arm.
Immediately, the sounds of wingbeats behind Green fell off-rhythm, and when they glanced back to look, just about everyone had flinched back in fear.
Understandable, but there wasn't time-!
The Dark Lord whistled, and once Green looked back up, they only had a second to catch the stick the Dark Lord had saved (and apparently tossed down). Oh, sure, Green managed it, gave them some elytra, and did a quick once-over to make sure they weren't hurt, but then they glared up at the Dark Lord with a frustrated, out-of-tune note.
The squeak that came out of Purple was nothing less than horrified, but the Dark Lord just stuck a hand on their hip and looked up longsufferingly.
Were it not for the too-vivid memory of feeling their code burn away from the inside out, Green felt like, in that moment, they could have strangled the Dark Lord.
The others started popping back out into the sky, then, leading more refugees out, but enough time had passed that only a very scant few IP addresses remained online. There wouldn't be time for them to make any more trips if they wanted to escape, themselves.
Quickly, however, the escapees grouped up into four distinct sections.
The Stick City sticks stuck close together, warily keeping an eye on the others.
The escapees from humans' devices hovered closer, watching everything around them in fear.
Green found themself with the rest of the Color Gang, somewhere between the two larger groups and being watched by both.
And then, as a group unto themselves…
…then there were the Chosen One and the Dark Lord, who'd started flying to the few remaining IP addresses still active and within reach, most likely searching for a good escape route.
As Green watched, however, the Chosen One straightened and waved frantically at them, pointing at a lit-up IP that seemed to be the steadiest still there, even as the barrier closing it off from the interspace flickered away entirely.
Green shared a look with Orange and the rest, then they all nodded and set off.
Well, the Color Gang did, anyway.
There came a sharp whistle from one of Mango's neighbors, and once all eyes were on her, she pointed accusatively at Orange, made a circle motion with her hand, then pointed at the Chosen One and the Dark Lord.
Orange lifted one hand to their face, then tilted their head questioningly.
This time, it was Purple who answered. They sang a quiet melody, the notes forming the image of two sticks standing menacingly above a crowd.
One of the sticks was red, and the other was black.
Green jolted, as did the rest of them, and they all glanced at the Chosen One in shock.
Instead of trying to deny the accusation, the Chosen One glanced down and gripped their forearm in visible shame. The Dark Lord looked the other way without any of their usual attitude.
Green could only hover there in shock. This couldn't have been after they'd first met the Chosen One- after the Virabot incident, Yellow had made a point of keeping up with Stick City news. It had been more of a hobby than anything, but Green knew she would have said something if the Chosen One had suddenly gone bad.
By extension, that meant that this had to have been before they came to fight the Virabot.
That…painted a clearer picture of why they and the Dark Lord had fought so viciously, actually, though Green knew they were still clearly missing pieces of the puzzle. One of those pieces was obviously whatever had gotten the two to work together to get the Color Gang to safety, but, hey, Green wasn't about to look a gift spawner in the mob.
Mango's neighbor made the circle motion again and pointed at Orange, who jerked back in offense.
Then Orange was gesturing, the Chosen One and the Dark Lord were gesturing, the Stick City sticks were gesturing, Green wound up closing ranks around Orange with the rest of the Color Gang as things got heated, and all the while the city below them crumbled and the sky grew darker and smokier and-!
Green balled their hands up into fists, took a deep breath, and let out a discordant, downright unholy shriek.
Instantly, everyone flinched and glanced their way, arms falling still.
Keeping one fist clenched, they used their other hand to gesture sharply at the discoloration left behind where the Dark Lord had stabbed clean through their chest. For emphasis, they turned around in the air to display the matching exit wound scar on their back.
When they turned back around, Yellow was pointing at the scarred slice through her throat and the back of her head, Red at the scarring on both the front and back of her gut, and Blue at the visible evidence of his own stabbing in his upper torso. Orange just held their arms out, each and every faded slice on full display.
They all pointed harshly at the Dark Lord as one.
The Dark Lord crossed their arms and folded ever-so-slightly in on themself, meeting no one's gaze.
Before anyone could act on this information (and Purple looked fit to throw down right then and there), Green swooped aside and pointed angrily at the smoke still rising from Stick City, a furious arpeggio forming the shapes of the Color Gang, the Chosen One, the Dark Lord, and one of the mechs.
The note-mech threatened the note-Color Gang as Green kept singing, but the note-Chosen One and note-Dark Lord grabbed them and pulled them to safety as note-Orange punched the note-mech into dust, then ran after them.
The notes vanished, and Green pointed emphatically at the IP that the Chosen One had tried to direct them all towards, breathing heavily.
There was a brief moment where none of them made a move.
Then Mango flew up by the IP, glanced at the Dark Lord, nodded at Green, and shot through.
The tension didn't quite break once Mango was gone, but it shifted ever-so-slightly, and the escapees flooded into the IP.
Green waited for the last of the strangers to shoot up and through, then gestured for their friends (and the Chosen One and the Dark Lord) to go through, too.
They all gave a quick nod of assent before doing exactly that, save for the Dark Lord, who just looked at them funny instead.
Green put one hand on their hip and pointed again at the IP longsufferingly.
The Dark Lord shot up and through, and only then did Green go in after them.
The tunnel flickered, and Green poured on the speed.
Just as their feet began to tingle with the impending disconnection, they saw the desktop of whichever device they were fleeing to come speeding towards them-
-and they tumbled from the wifi icon just as the tunnel slammed shut and the icon flashed a red X instead of signal strength bars.
Green shook themself and pushed themself to their feet, trudging towards their friends.
Orange and Red were gawking at the desktop they found themselves on almost as if they recognized it, and when a cursor jolted into motion, they were quick to jump up and down and wave their arms to get the User's attention.
The cursor carefully came down and picked the two up, then dropped them into an already-open Libreoffice document.
You two again?
Green stared at Orange and Red, who each glanced aside with matching awkward chuckles.
Orange's trademark text popped into view over their head. Heh, yeah. Hi again, Alexcrafter.
Ohhh. That would do it.
Purple nudged Green and shrugged questioningly.
Green held their hands in front of them as if they were, say, pressing two Minecraft icons together into the ultimate weapon of destruction and creation, then gestured to the icon in Orange's hands and Alexcrafter's cursor.
Purple nodded slowly, and in the corner of Green's vision, Mango scratched at the back of his neck.
I promise we'll explain when we can, but you've seen what's going on outside, right? asked Orange seriously.
Alexcrafter paused for a moment, then, WHAT ARE THOSE
Yeah, uh, as far as we know, a stick figure… Orange started, though they glanced at the Chosen One for confirmation. …?
The Chosen One nodded.
Orange nodded back and deleted their ellipsis and question mark before continuing, started a robot uprising. They took over the interspace, too, and we had to get as many people out as we could. Your IP address was one of the last ones online.
Alexcrafter didn't respond for a moment, then told them, theyre getting close to the house
im closing the laptop and grabbing my sisters
were all getting out of here
The survivors all threw their arms up in a cheer, and Orange nodded energetically. Thank you!!! Don't stop until you're safe!!!
The screen went dark from the outside, and Green pumped their arms excitedly, which got Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, and Orange to all join in.
It was all up to Alexcrafter now, but they'd already promised to try.

"Slap!"
They should know better than to get behind Miranda.
Of course, most people don't catch that without experience, though. She was pink, and she was a princess, and the business end looked to be her head with all of her lovely, perfect fangs — so there wasn't immediate reason to be concerned for Miranda's tail.
It was heavy, sure, and large, and tall enough to come up to others' waists, but it was also not the lithe, mobile thing people thought tails were like. She had to drag it on the floor, with a long skate, of a sort, having to be made to wrap around its bottom, to prevent it from getting dirty as Miranda moved. Nearly every time anyone did see it move, it moved slowly, typically following the length of her body.
This was all deceptive, though, and in fact belied the entire reason why it was a terrible idea to approach Miranda from behind.
It had to be slow, and heavy, and to drag on the floor. Muscles were heavy, and so too were the dense bones created to support those muscles, and so too was the coat of scaled armor that covered every inch of Miranda's body, each with their own bone cores. It seemed unimpressive inland because it wasn't made for use there. It was made for the open ocean, for storm surges and currents that swept through the seas like judgement, carrying lessers away. Each and every limb of hers was just a rudder, just a means of control. The only way Miranda had got around most of her life was with her tail.
It's hard to tell why it suddenly bent and curled, away from Hax at first. She couldn't feel a lot with her tail — her scales too thick and her adaptions serving her poorly in the dead air — and Miranda was distracted. It seemed like some other emotional response, something else that she was tending on her own.
When the tall paddle snapped back to the other side, there was no time to run, no moment to realize what the sound of air whistling past it was. There was just the solid mass of Miranda's tail, and Hax's backside, and nothing else mattered.
Send "Slap!" to slap my muses ass.

In all honesty they had not really been paying attention to where they were standing, their focus on something else- though whatever it was didn't really seem to matter considering what was to come next.
The whistle of air makes them turn their head, if only for a moment, before the contact is made. The sound of tail against ass echoing through the area followed very closely by a sharp glass-shattering scream and the sound of a face skidding across the ground before the daemon would come to a sudden halt.

Consolation Prize
Summary: Jacques' super great plan to cheer up Josée after their TDRR loss.
Rating: K+
Warning: Mild cursing
AN: I've been meaning to write this for YEARS, but alas… a funny, evil hah-hah drabble. Wrote on Docs on mobile 😵‍💫
Everyone cheered with congratulations as confetti and sparkles rained down onto the stage—everyone, except for the Ice Dancers. Jacques and Josée both sneered at the Cadets, who were living it up by throwing their newly acquired million dollars into the air to mix in with the confetti.
Jacques hated them. He hated the Surfers. He hated Don. He hated all of the stupide, ugly people here. The only person here that he didn't hate, was Josée. His eyes drifted to the side to check on his partner again, but she was too busy glowering at the back of MacArthur's head to notice.
Stupide MacArthur who saved her life not even a day earlier.
What did she want for it, a medal? It didn't matter that they would have been guaranteed fourth place without her help, it didn't matter that Josée could have… died, without her help. It was still a competition, and she didn't have any right to be all mad at Josée for playing the game as soon as the moment was over.
Jacques huffed. Maybe he was just bitter. This whole damn race was a huge waste of time and a fantastic pain in the butt. He and Josee were so close to total reconciliation back in Montreal, and then they participated in this dumb race. They'd been pushed to their limits, had their absolute worst brought out, and fought with each other so much. And then that fiasco in the Bahamas… Ugh…
"Yes, throw all your money on the ground, very smart." Don chided the Cadets with a host-appropriately peppy side-comment.
Jacques looked to Don, then back to the Cadets two rows ahead of them. Stupide pompous pigs, stupide…
His eyes settled lower, specifically onto the ground between the vegan Mile's sandal-clad feet in front of him. Along with the colorful confetti and some loose bills, a fairly thick clip of hundreds laid there innocently on the floor. Jacques eyebrows raised, mouth dipped low.
Don just finished giving the season outro, and everyone yelled again, save for himself and Josée. No one was looking at him. No one was looking at anything besides the camera at the end of the stage.
Jacques did his best to not smile as he stepped his sneaker on top of the bills, a plan already forming in his bitter, handsome head.
"Jacques, hurry up." Josée called back to him, but her voice had lost all of its bite.
Jacques lugged their matching pink duffle bags, one on each arm, as he walked to keep up with her. They didn't have to wear their uniforms anymore, and the straps from their bags kept pulling at his undone jacket every few steps. He stopped at the end of the line beside Josée, and stuck his lip out in thought while he looked over her tired face. Even after a night to sleep off their loss in one of the JFK Memorial Airport's hotels, Josée still looked worn out. His poor Josée, he was sure she must have a lot on her mind.
"Mon chou, why don't you go and sit by the TSA booth? I'll get our tickets and luggage taken care of." Jacques offered sweetly.
Josée looked up at him questioningly, a little miffed by his relaxed attitude after such a horrible finish yesterday. But she turned her head to the very, very long line ahead of them, and figured there was no reason that both of them needed to suffer through it.
"Fine, sure." Josée answered, still annoyed sounding.
Jacques watched her go with a sneaky smile. He felt a little bad for not letting her in on his plan—seeing as she was so put out—but the surprise would be worth it. He felt like he needed something big to boost her spirits, and a surprise like this was a great way to do it.
"A'kay! All ready to go." Jacques smiled and offered her ticket to her.
Josée took it from him and got up from her seat, trailing behind him as he walked them to TSA. As they waited in line, Josée looked over her ticket absent-mindedly, only to lose her bored expression to shock. Jacques did his best to look off, as though he hadn't been waiting for her to notice.
"Jacques!" Josée yelled up at him, and he turned nonchalantly to her.
"What is the mat—"
"—You got us the wrong tickets!" Josée berated him, smacking the little paper against his arm. Honestly, was this so hard? Did she need to hover over him for even the simplest things? He knew she was in no mood for little screw-ups like this!
"I diiid?" Jacques asked, feigning ignorance. He took a look at his own ticket. "Ah! Sill-y me, I accidentally booked two first-class tickets for Honolulu!"
Josée's mouth slumped to the side at his moronic grin.
"How do you even mess that up!" She steamed. "Go back over there and fix it, and make sure you get a refund! Do you know how much first-class tickets to Hawaii cost?"
"Ah, oui, I do." Jacques smiled at her smugly.
"...So go!!" Josée threw her arms to the side, in the direction of the ticket counter, but Jacques didn't make any movement to do as he was told. Josée felt like she was going to burst a blood vessel—was she going insane? He looked so damn smug, despite sounding dumber than a bag of bronze right now.
Just when he was sure Josée might actually pop if he pushed her buttons any longer, Jacques raised his hands and patted Josée's shoulders, smoothing out her anger along with the fabric of her blouse.
"Ah ah, Josée! Not to worry, we are not paying for it." Jacques assured her. His smile morphed into something more mischievous when she shot him a confused squint.
"Those pigs are picking up the tab." He smirked, and pulled his jacket to the side just enough to reveal a neat clip of hundred dollar bills tucked into the inside pocket.
Josée stared at the money in surprise, then back up to Jacques as he closed his jacket again. It took her a moment to realize what he was getting at, and she smiled apprehensively.
"Jacques…" Her smile grew a bit. "...where did you get that?"
"Ahh, I cannot remember!" Jacques replied, hand laid against his temple. "It was so confusing yesterday, you know, with everyone yelling, and them throwing their money all around…"
He winked at her and Josée squealed quietly. She threw her arms around his neck in a hug, and Jacques wrapped his arms across her back, his eyebrows bowed up contently. He hadn't heard her laugh at all since yesterday.
"Jacques, that is so underhanded!" Josée pulled back, smiling wide.
"Psh! They don't need it. They probably won't even notice." He rolled his eyes and set a hand onto her back as they walked to move with the line. "But we need a vacation, non?"
Josée looked up at him giddily, just like she had in Argentina. It felt like forever ago, for both of them.
"Oui, I think we do." Josée affirmed, and hugged onto his arm as… professionally as possible.
Jacques beamed with pride.
They hadn't suffered so many losses so close together in years, and then placing third in the finale stung like bullet ant bites. But this was not ice dancing, and this was not for any medal or trophy, so he could convince himself (and then maybe Josée later) that these losses didn't matter. What mattered was that after all the losses and fighting and threats, that they were still together, side by side, arm-in-arm, and always would be. If Vancouver couldn't break them, nothing could.
He snuck a peak at Josée, who was still smiling brightly at nothing in particular. Jacques' lips curved up in admiration. Returning that smile to her face was worth more than the million ever would be.
(But a free trip to Honolulu wasn't bad, either.)
AN: Hawaii was special to them, and now it's tainted by cursed lava rock memories. They need some new ones! ;)

i remember there was a mobile version of club penguin that was out after the original one “was kill”
i remember to get literally any sort of cool thing you had to pay for some kind of membership or something (never got that …)
but a few days before it would shut down, every account had free memberships and you could basically do anything in the week or two before it shut down
i made a couple of friends.. i remember talking to one on the day the game would shut down and i miss them. i wonder where they are now?
but the whole reason i made this post was something that happend to me a bit earlier in the games life
so one day some random dude comes up to me and says “hey girl”
it wasnt very obvious that i was a girl but i guess they assumed it since my penguins colour was pink
then they say something like “wanna see my 1 inch duck?”
(i assume that duck was used because of the chat filter, but even younger me knew what that meant)
and……. anyways i just blocked this person and moved on with my day
i just wanted to say this because this stuck in my memory and its a weird memory that i have anyways … so yeah
