#tagged by #piratefalls #I was having a really hard time figuring how to narrow this list down because there's quite a few more I watch #eventually I decided to only include the ones where I don't 'skip to the good bits'#(Fast Five and Mr & Mrs Smith and The Italian Job and Avengers 2012 I do all watch incredibly often but mostly only the back halves #and my animated movies and musicals I mostly watch the songs and the ends. not the Blues Brothers though)#and then the rest of these I put in order by when I got them because that's probably the best indicator of how often I've seen them #also worth noting that The Martian could easily be swapped for Star Trek (2009) or Charlie's Angels for Ocean's Eight #I tend to watch them back-to-back because they fill similar niches in my brain #Logan Lucky has recently beat out a lot of the other heist movies I rewatch because the characters and accents make me happy #(if anybody has heist movie recommendations though please please share I always want more)

We conclude this brief overview of movies based on music composer' biopics as we started, i.e. with another Ken Russell's fantasy Musical biography this time devoted to Gustav Mahler encompassing his romantic affairs, conversion from Judaism to Christianity and failed marriage all shown in a succession of flashbacks

hey yesterday i got distracted until 5am into browsing lists of old animated movies on wikipedia and there's a bunch of stuff that i wanna get around to dig up & watch but i crave even more older, more obscure, more forgotten stuff

plz feel free to drop any obscure animated flick you know of so i can go check it ( extra bonus points if you're not american and it's a movie from your country )

#stuff i fell onto that i particularly wanna get around includes #Rock & Rule : scifi fantasy. lou reed sings the villain's songs. there's other big names in the soundtrack. absolutely bombed financially #Hugo the Hippo : i dont know much about it but seemed cute as hell #Shinbone Alley : top of the list this one i think ? arbitrarily . theres a super cool aging femme fatale cat in there #Dick Deadeye (or Duty Done) this oness complicated because it's so painfully british as in they threw racist asian designs in there ( ofc)#but the animation style is kinda charming...i need to watch it & hate it #Mr Bickford : claymation movie set to orchestral music written by frank zappa. this one seems . like a lot #its not gonna be an easy watch but i NEED to watch it #also not one that i found yesterday but i had a while back and i never managed to find ANY trace of #il giornalino di gian burrasca. 1992 italian film based on a then popular series of books about a rowdy kid...#i have no reason to want to find it other than i randomly stumbled upon it & the very few images i could find looked very charming #and the FACT that i can't even find any clips of it online is frustrating.#if somehow ur italian and u know where to find this hmu;#shevr

4. Who felt romantic feelings first?

Hard to say, sense they've always been like this. There's not a specific moment either of them could go back to and say when they fell in love, they've always loved eachother, you know?

Though Luigi was the first to recognize these feelings as romantic, and different than how he loved, say, their mom and dad, and that that was something important. Mario didn't think it mattered what kind of love they had, their mama had taught them Love is Love, so what does it matter, right?

This happened when they were like 7.

5. Did either of them try to resist their feelings?

Maybe not quiet resist, but Mario did consider it for a while.

Around middle school-ish age, 12 or 13, their mom sat the brothers down to explain the difference between Familial and Romantic love, and why that difference was important, kind of assuming they didn't really know the difference in their emotions yet.

The whole thing made Mario feel awful. He'd made his mother worry, his father angry, and worst of all he, the older brother, put Luigi on the line for his own selfish reasoning.

The only reason he didn't fully withdrawal from Luigi and stew in an early sea of self deprecation was Luigi rubbing it in Mario's face that he was right, that the love he has for Mario and the love he has for the rest of their family is different. He did an "I Told You So" dance and everything. He was right and Mario was wrong ha ha ha ha ha!

So yeah. Mario considered resisting his feelings for all of about 20 minutes before Luigi snapped him out of it, and reminded him why that would simply never work. Not for them.

6. If you had told one of them that the other would be their soulmate, what would they think?

Mario doesn't believe in soulmates, he's a simple guy and not all that romantic in the grand scheme sense. Luigi on the other hand is all about Cosmic Connection and the "Over and Over again, life after life, I will find you, and I fall in love with you again and again" kind of cheesy nonsense. He'd be over the moon about it.

That's not what I mean #Mario IS a Romantic a Big Time Romantic just not in the Cosmic sense like Luigi #Luigi had a weeb phase so of course he's feral about Soulmate AUs #Mario's a Classic Romantic he likes a candle lit Italian dinner and a Bouquet of Roses and Slow Dances that sweep you of your feet #He loves the smooze the Cheese the romantic music and the nice suit #He'd probably really like Hallmark movies unironically #Luigi's not much for a big show or big acts he likes to do the small things #Rub Mario's shoulders when he looks tired and make him a cup of coffee in the morning and hold his hand when they're walking side by side #You get me?#Mario likes to DO big actions he loves to be the Guy with the Rose and he'd love to some day be the one on his knees with the ring #Am I making sense?
