yesterday i wrote a scene where jade wasnt a plot device and was left the hell alone in A6A5 because this being dave and jade’s last proper conversation in years made me sad and i wanted to see them reunite properly. i mixed a bit of narration in too even though it was rare around this point in the comic but its just to paint a better picture. also i wouldnt mind feedback on character voice (it’s important to me that the dialogue sounds believable)
[3 years are over, everyone is in the new session. The prospit ship is on LOMAX, as is everyone who arrived on the meteor, safely warped by Jade onto LOMAX as well. Jade has banished B2 Jack to the Furthest Ring already. She hasn't seen her friends in 3 years, not to mention she never met the trolls in person yet.]
[Jade teleports to LOMAX where John was talking with the meteor crew. Her eyes widen when she sees the trolls, giving everyone a greeting. Jade waves to the trolls.]
You’ll have time to catch up with them later. First you want to reconvene with Rose and Dave.

FORGIVENESS BY ALICE GLASS!!!!!!! OUGHOUGHOGH I LOVE THIS SONG WITH ALL MY HEART god something about it just vibrates my insides and tickles my eyes. YESSSSS YESSSSS I GET TO RAMBLE ABOUT ANOTHER SONG The World Is Ending by Matt and Kim !!!!!!!!!!!!! good GOD this song is so dear to me. Not because of the song really, but because of what the song means to me? The connections I have too it?????? Longish story short, someone made a killer AMV using it? The AMV using clips from the show Final Space! No clue if you have seen the show but no matter. Final Space is definitely up there as one of my favorite shows, not only because its good but because it actually helped me get closer with my dad, we watched it together! In other words I associate this song with just so much joy. The AMV if you were curious btw!

... honestly? Any song in a tv show that is played during a sad scene! A REALLY sad scene... one that comes to mind is Enter One by Sol Seppy (would recommend skipping to about 2:30), because it is played in the death scene of one of my all time favorite characters... alright im going to weep about that death scene more now because listening to this again is NOT helping pfft... oughh honestly now im tempted to add it to the 2AL playlist... maybe.

#1 - Celebrate. This is the song that introduced me to the band and gives me SUCH a blast of nostalgia each listen, and it shows. Best song in the album by far. Its so weird though since I knew this song before I knew about the rest of the album, so when I finally discovered the whole album each time this song comes up its so out of place pfft! Still such a bop though!
#2 - Blind Valentine. This is just one of those songs I love singing too whenever it comes on alright!?????

Ok. Adventure Time by Yoann Turpin. I am usually not too big on 16 bit video game sort of vibes but this??? Is such a MASSIVE exception. Holy????? THE HEART THE GUY PUT INTO THIS SONG MAN. The beat is just so unique, its impossible to try and guess whats going to happen in the song next, you strait up feel like you are on an ADVENTURE. I am so here for this song, god and its so upbeat I am in LOVE.

Phleps by C418!!! C418, the producer of the original music behind minecraft, but the guy has so much underrated personal music that is SO underrated! This song in particular, is vastly different from his usually stuff and I love it for that. Definitely underrated for being overshadowed by his work on minecraft and his work that isnt minecraft but sounds like minecraft..

Star Wars Rewatch: TROS
Oh, God.
Palpatine come back and ruining Anakin Skywalker's redemption. Why? How? Cloning, okay, so this Palpatine isn't the real Palpatine?!
We get to see Supreme Leader Kylo Ren for about 4 minutes before he's immediately benched by Palpatine as co-pilot. Why? I get they didn't want Kylo Ren as the big bad, but this is just lazy writing.
Green goblin, I remember you don't last long.
R2D2, they never wash him or nothing?
Maybe the First Order should win. They take hits and keep on knocking. They take losses and recovered, quickly and well. They always seem to have intelligence from somewhere. In short, they are competent.
Poe and Finn, have a great dynamic.
Rey is finally training for everyone who had a boner for two movies about her having a rocky fight montage.
They moment where Ren is praying over Darth Vader's mask and his mind bridges with Rey is a great reminder that these two are connected.
This film did something most franchise should never, it responded to criticism in real time.
Poe, you fucked up Han's ship. Stop attacking like she doesn't have a reason to be annoyed. Also, Rey is currently the sole Jedi in the galaxy, she should be training, not running off on every errand you have to do.
Colin Travano (whatever his name is) I wouldn't have wanted his script. Like at all. Poe and Rey do have chemistry though and you can tell they enjoy needling one another. It's just not endgame.
That Finnrey hug was awkward. It's a church hug with their butts sticking out. I'm Reylo to the core, but I have place for FinnRey in my heart. They're soulmates in a different way than Reylo is. Also, Daisy Ridley and John B are adorable and you can tell they enjoy working together.
In a flawed film, Rose Tico being sidelined was a wise decision.
Rey, Poe, Finn, Chewie and 3PO are cute. JJ Adams did seem to love friendships developing and for the third film we needed to see all these characters together on an adventure.
Kylo Ren is forging this dumb ass mask again. Look it worked initially, character wise and so forth, but at this point?! He smashed it and moved past the need for it. The audience liked that he smashed it. We have to see his face for emotional scenes. Why is it back? Oh I know! Because JJ Adams good juvenile friend was sad his mask wasn't in the film anymore. General Hux and Kylo are magically little bottle of goodness. We got so little.
We leave one planet for another planet but I keep forgetting what planet we're on. Title cards too much to ask?
Ren is actually pursuing Rey or The Scavenger because yes he wants her for himself. but he also wants to protect her from Palpatine. Their first force bond......... yeah. I've read the novelization so I understand it's been a minute since they've seen one another, but if I just watched the movie would I have known that? No. There is much they saying yet it's stiff and doesn't make much sense without context.
General Pryde. Why did we need him when we have General Hux?
I think Billie D Williams filmed all his scenes sitting down. He looks happy to be there but tired as hell.
Race through the desert of Pasaana. I like it. This crew does work and it feels like a fun adventure. There are cute, whitty moments between all of them and it works.
She heals a snake - Two halves of the dyad should only have been able to heal one another, but here we are.
The Trio and Co find the evil sith ship or whatever. The Knights of Ren gotta walk while Ren is flying. Ren tries to run down Rey, again this make sense in the novelization and not at all in real life. After Rey injures his planes, he crashes and the majestic prince emerges out of the flames. Seriously?! Why the hell are you covering this guy up?!
In a rip off of The Last Jedi we get a tug-o-war scene between the ship Chewie is on. It's not as great, but it's a good scene and we see how Rey's powers have grown. We know it's a waste of time though. They're evenly matched. It's a nice surprise when the lighting shoots out. Okay, I don't mind her being a Palpatine. I mind the retconning. I mind Palpatine magically coming back.
Rey confesses to Finn about her dream of her and Kylo Ren on the Sith Throne. Where? We would have liked to have seen this.
This is a nice FinnRey scene. Despite her display of "dark power", her killing Chewie presumably, Finn doesn't look at her any different. She's still Rey to him. He's patient and present and she describes her challenges. We still don't acknowledge Finn is force sensitive. Why isn't he training with Rey?
We are blazing through this movie. That's part of the problem we're just pushing plot points at this point. The movie needs to be more selective about slowing down and concentrating on character development. Something painfully lacking in this film. Even the Reylo scenes are about pushing the plot forward rather than pushing the characters forward.
3PO actually has a storyline this movie. Good for him. Look secondary characters in a trilogy, you get your moments and it ain't gonna be every film.
Zorri and Babu are nice additions. I like Zorri and the fact that Ren kicking her ass actually made her like her. Women supporting women. Were Zorri and Poe a thing. What's a spice runner? A space drug dealer?
Rey's social skills lack a bit. but she's great with Droids.
Wait, Chewie and Ren were both on Ren's Destroyer and they didn't even have a scene together?! Chewie's like an uncle to Ren.
Ren, show up in your boss ass destroyer to get your girl.
Standout lines -
Poe: 3PO! Move your metal ass.
3PO: How dare you we just met.
Finn, Poe and Chewie cowboying through the destroyer. Nice scene, doomed for failure I'm afraid.
Second Reylo forceskype is exposition. First real Reylo scene is exposition. Hey, movies gotta get it done haha but Ren literally is like here's the plot of the movie and everything you've been confused on up until this point. I will say watching the progression of the force bond that their spaces are now physically bleeding into one another. Nice touch. It's also nice to see what they each see when looking at one another through the force bond.
General Hux is the spy. Could've gone farther with this. RIP Dawg
Another FinnRey scene where you begin to understand Rey is pissed off and darker than possibly Finn thought.
Palpatine and Ren scene. I'm so annoyed Palpatine is in this movie.
We meet a ragtime band on horses surprise their former stormtroopers. All of them. From the same company. Sure Jan.
Seeing the death star again, so odd and doesn't look a thing like the original. We see scavenger Rey again.
Reylo fights again because Rey is the denial queen and she's free to take out her aggression on Ren. He likes feral Rey. In another less PG film, they've fought and then boned, but Leia died. Also, Dark Rey.... I'm here for it. Mostly cause it looks cool.
The film makers did the best they could with Carrie's Fisher passing. I thought they handled it with class and dignity while incorporating it into the film.
After Leia's passing and Rey healing it. Ren in his ever presented conflict nature overlooks the water when his father appears. It's poignant and character driven scene. It's beautiful scene about the enduring love of a parent. A flawed parent but a loving one nonetheless. Ben had two of those and he seems to finally understand that now.
Poe has a good scene with Leia's body about being a leader. Something that, despite all the bravado, he finally admits he doesn't know how to do. This would've been a great scene with her alive. Part of the issue people have the sequel trilogy of the lack of respect paid for previous generations. As if they are flawed and bigoted. On screen and off screen. A scene where Finn, Poe or Rey paid respect for the accomplishments of previous generations. Their courage and their bravery. Billie D. feels like just a stand-in.
Palpatine army blows up yet another planet. yawn.
Finn is a general bestow as such by Poe. Good choice. Sanitation worker aside no one knows more about The First Order than someone who was a stormtrooper. Finn reveals Palpatine wanted Rey alive...... then why tell Ren to kill her? Because if Rey didn't go dark then Ren was the fall back or vice versa?
So far it's not a bad film, just a disappointing film. The stuff that made my blood boil is about to come.
Rey isolates herself on Acht-to, burns the ship and we see ghost Luke. Why? She saw herself on the dark throne and she's afraid of herself. This might have meant something. At one point. It just feels like a retcon at this point. She's a Palpatine but Leia and Luke didn't care? Then what the hell were you worried about Ben for? If blood and legacy means nothing.
I'm not one of those people that need everything in a movie to make sense. It's also a space fantasy film, but damn.
Rey leads the Resistance to Exegol, she just doesn't know it. That was handy. No, really the way the movie sliced that together worked very well. Poe and Finn make a great speech about the resistance. Not as rousing as I'd like.
Exegol being the basis for the Sith religion is actually really cool. Wish we could've learned more. Empress Palpatine sounds like a boss ass name.
I hate everything about the ending of this film.
Rey once again goes into the enemy territory without a plan. The resistance doesn't really have one either except gumption.
Ben Solo is back! He's great. He's a hero. He's got great hair. He's likeable. We haven't seen him for 20 minutes, he doesn't say a word except "Ow" We have a beautiful Reylo moment where we Rey and Ben see each other through the Force Bond and she looks at Ben with such relief, joy and love that he's there with her. Ben fight like hell to get to her. This is it! Bendemption. We've waited three films for this. Then they tossed him off a cliff.
While it's a great scene of Rey listening to the previous Jedi's and rising up. I'm so confused how the dyad coming together empowers the devil. Ben has been made completely irrelevant.
I mean, we got a Reylo Kiss! It was epic and then it was over. We were lucky to get that considering Disney started to shy away from Reylo due to all the "controversy" I just hate this so we'll move on.
The hug was nice!

The Eighth Sense Eps 7 & 8 Stray Thoughts
Last week, things came to a head as Jae Won started to crack. He decided to run away to the beach with Ji Hyun in a (likely) highly medicated state. Many cute things happened, that I firmly believe were real before Ji Hyun seems to have drowned. I'm certain he's going to live, because it would be unsatisfying for four episodes if he didn't.
Episode 7
Well this use of silence at the beginning is rather crushing.
While I respect the disappointment that their club has been cancelled because of the accident, these seniors are quite heartless. Tae Hyung and Eun Ji.... It's on sight.
Oh, Jae Won, please don't project onto this broken camera. The blurry face out was nice though.
Jae Won came out of his fuzziness just enough to punch Tae Hyung in the face. HIT HIM AGAIN! HIT HIM FOR ME, TOO!
Can someone please not make Jae Won's actions about them for one conversation with him, holy shit.

Thinking about how gray and dark Jae Won's world is, but we kept seeing Ji Hyun in bright sunlight.

Jae Won finally shows signs of life listening to Ji Hyun talk about their relationship.
Tae Hyung is graceless even in defeat. He is terribly unattractive and definitely smells bad.
I love Joon Pyo again. I love when best friends get mad that they weren't told about the romance.
I like how action-oriented Joon Pyo is. He provides additional context about Jae Won at the hospital, and wants to know what steps Ji Hyun is going to take about his crush. Love Ji Hyun's determination to get Jae Won back.
Joon Pyo is the best. Immediately switching from jealous of Ae Ri to excited at the new bonding potential.

Ji Hyun is quickly becoming one of my favorite gay characters of all time. I like when the younger character refuses to let the older one run away from what they have.
I get why Jae Won is doing this, but I'm not sure what knocks him out of this.
Absolutely incredible episodes of television. After such a desaturated episode 7, there was so much life and color in episode 8. Ji Hyun's skin looked so rich in the final scene. You can feel how assured he is of his feelings and what he wants. Eun Ji and Tae Hyung better not feature next week except to get dunked on one final time.

Excellent Villain Writing
It's interesting because one of the plot points of Not a Typical Reincarnation Story is that the story's "fixes" to irregular human behavior in them are kind of poorly written - perhaps the original novel the character's stuck in was okay, but whoever's using that as a basis for a real world isn't good at adapting when a human brings in Facts And Logic.
Anyway in spite of that, the character of Cliff is actually an excellently written villain.
The Context: In the novel the brothers Cliff and Killian were fighting over the affections of Rhyse. Killian was briefly married to the evil Edith from the villainous Rigelhof family but her obsession and jealousy drives her to increasingly blatant acts of sabotage and violence and she's at last executed, and then the tension of the love triangle is in full swing.
But in the comic Edith is played by a reincarnated human - and not just any, but one who read the novel. She knows how this goes for her if she's a jealous little shit, so she is a fine upstanding citizen and furthermore she is genuinely nice to Rhyse, which screws with everything about her portion of the base story. If she's not being horrible it would make the good-guy family look bad to execute her, so she's living past where she was supposed to be written out of the story. But if she's a good person and as bewitchingly lovely as the evil temptress she was supposed to be, it makes Killian look bad if he doesn't, like, at least attempt to care for his own wife.
In the process of all this story-breaking, Killian's been falling for her.
And finally there's enough context for the latest scene:
Cliff is egging on his brother to pay less attention to his own wife and more attention to Rhyse, who is supposed to be the woman in the love triangle.
Now, Cliff has been firmly villain-coded the whole story long. Every time something bad is happening to a good person and he's on screen, he is smiling. And a lot of the story we've seen that hasn't been from Edith's perspective has been from Killian's, and Cliff is the jerk older brother that never lets him win at anything.
And this is what makes his act here such excellent villain writing.
By rights Cliff should be happy to let his brother get out of the love triangle so he wins by default, but he's so obsessed with the contest that he can't accept the idea of his brother walking away from it and spending attention on his own damn wife. It's not enough to have Rhyse at his side or even to "win her heart." Without his brother to defeat at it, he's lost and confused.
In this scene Cliff is at once pathetic, obnoxious, twisted, sad, and really offensive. He's been a constant threat to Edith, happily treating her as guilty-by-default, like an NPC whose dialogue hasn't been properly rewritten in response to altered player behavior. But this shows how little he thinks of his brother and even of Rhyse herself.
And the thing is, this idea of the "sore winner" is a character most of us have met. Even if Cliff turns out to be doing this because he's actually an NPC that can't pivot like a real person, or something, for now this still feels like pretty naturalistic character writing. It's not that unusual for actual people to get hung up on the people around them sticking to the script, and paradoxically upset with character growth in people they should care be happy for.

So i watched episodes 3 to 8 of Pahkitew Island
Again, watched these with my buddy @rockin-it-rusty! And, holy shit these episodes have got me genuinly wondering why Pahkitew's so hated.
I'll go over the negatives first; the challenges are kinda eh. The Truth or Scare one is great, and the cave one is interesting due to it's hints at the Fake Island reveal (as heavy handed as they were), but most of these were just pretty out there to me? They mostly felt like an excuse to put the characters in situations mostly. Just have Topher make a narration joke, give Max and Scarlett an interaction, have Sky and Dave dance around eachother all due to a thing the challenge made them do. I don't mind the first two much, but the last one gets super repetitive man. Glad they mixed it up a bit by making Shawn try to wingman Dave though, i like their friendship! im a bigger dashawn shipper now oops
ANYWAYS IMA TALK ABOUT THE CHARACTERS NOW BECAUSE LET'S BE HONEST, THE CHARACTERS CARRY THE SHOW!
Amy... Ok im very mixed on her. On one hand, she serves her role as the mean twin relatively well. But on the other, that's all she really is! Her one trait is being mean and hating her sister, and that's all she really does! Granted she has a thing? Where she gets sayings (?) wrong, or just gets words wrong (she says parfait is german. it's french. i would know) which! could hint at something! (maybe less smart than her sister?) but they don't do shit with her outside of her swimming back to the island in episode 5. god i wanna rewrite this season so badly now to give her a bigger role. idk shoutouts to Twinning with a Twist for redeeming her while still giving her some edge ig.
Rodney. i uh
I haven't thought about him since his elimination honestly. I just doooooon't care about him it's crazy. Most forgettable guy in the entire series.
Sammy! Ok back to the siblings rambles! I wish the show leaned into her scheming more. Girl in five episodes pulled identity theft and did nothing else. Why. Her relationship with Jasmine is adorable, and i wish she got Jasmine to call her by her actual name, and a personality too! It's really a shame man :(
Sidenote, but like her team fucking hated her for some reason??? Like what. I know it's because of that one scene, but really?
Ella!! My sweet girl Ella!!! She didn't do anything wrong man she just likes singing leave her alone!!! Chris really fucking hates her and it's pretty entertaining at least, but i'd say his beef with Topher's funnier. She has a nice singing voice, and i love how passionate she is about fairytales and stuff. You could do so much with the Prince thing and the show... didn't. Like what even was that. Conflict that wasn't one that lasts an episode. what
Gotta say though, her elimination was fucking ass, Max 100% should've been kicked instead of her.
Topher. Ah the opher. He's a special case, even in the context of Pahkitew Island itself! Because the dude's not here for the game. He's here to meet his idol, Chris Mclean (he really knows how to pick em, huh). I like the progression he's got, from wanting his approval to straight up wanting to host the game instead of him. I'll admit, my opinion's a little skewed since i am mutuals with the Topher guy on Tumblr, but i like him regardless!
His relationship with Chris is easily one of the more interesting parts of the season, mostly because a 30-something year old dude having beef with a teenage fan is hilarious, and you could definitely spin it in a sad way from Topher's perspective.
It also helps that he's genuinely funny! His few interactions with the other campers are also pretty fun, he dgaf about them it's great.
Im kind of mixed on Dave, i'll be real. On one hand, im glad they ditched the whole "he doesn't like anyone on this Island" trait three episodes in because that would've gotten. SO ANNOYING. SO FAST. (hell i'd argue it was already annoying), and him being a hopeless romantic could be a fun trait, if done right. It also helps that he's really pathetic and i find that funny. His friendship with Shawn's fun too!
But on the other hand... Yeah, even before the finale the Skave plotline's really boringgg. They just dance around eachother for half the season for like! No reason! Please just have a conversation, even if it takes other people to sit them down to have it! I know why they didn't because the finale needed them to not actually talk about it but at least have Sky tell him she'll explain later or have him not be a coward and ask her about it himself!!! ack!!
Also the thing with him and Ella went literally nowhere. I have 0 feelings about it because it's just there for some reason. Idk they just really wanted to shoehorn in romance for every girl this season huh.
Scarlett's a really underutilized character pre-Island reveal. The bulk of her interactions with the other campers are with Max, who has a ton of screentime for some reason (which i don't personally really mind but i'll explain later) which honestly sucks because she's a fun character! I want to compare her to Twilight Sparkle at the very start of MLP. She's smart, she knows it, she can communicate with her teammates just fine and just chooses not to usually. I like her alot! Im just... really disapointed that she's so in the background usually; if anyone's a wasted character in tdpi, outside of the Twins i'd say it's her.
Her legit wanting to kill Max is great though. That's how i'd react to him irl. Don't get the Max saying she had a crush on him three episodes in, or the quip Chris made during the team switching tho.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, MAX! I swear, i was convinced i'd find this guy annoying pre-watch but uh... I like this guy! No really, i do! He's like Mal, only the narrative doesn't take him seriously in the slightest and it's hilarious to watch! Im like Sugar in that one clip, i am laughing at this buffoon's intelligence, and his stupid catchphrase, and his "evil" plans, and his general delivery! Max is funny!
Even when the Scarlett "minion" thing kicked in i still found him funny! Don't get me wrong, i wish he'd gotten out earlier (ESPECIALLY when he was supposed to get kicked in the episode Ella got eliminated into) or just gotten less screentime in general, but in the season proper, yeah he's a funny guy! Big gimmick, but i like him! Please don't add nuance to him, i don't care
Jasmine... certaintly exists! I'd call her the Season's rock, the one character that's emotionally intelligent on the show. She's fun in general, and also the only one noticing things going wrong with the robotic island. As said before, her relationship with Sammy is great to see, and i wished we'd see more of her and Sky's friendship and uh. For there to be more between her and Shawn? Because the only things i've retained is that they blushed at eachother once and then trust issues party because he hit her once during a challenge and that completely broke her trust in him - which, could be an interesting aspect of her character to explore since if that's all it took for her to pull a 180 on Shawn, the girl must have a complicated relationship with trust. That's an interesting flaw! It also shows up with her rapport in Sky in the later episodes of this batch, and. GOD. I wish it was developped man!
The issue? Yeah it's dragged on so longggg man! It's frustating to watch frankly because i really wish they'd resolve this conflict quicker since it's like. The same thing every episode :( to my knowledge it's solved in episode 9, but it did NOT need to be dragged out for 4 episodes.
Unrelated to her charater, but her height difference with the other campers is kind of ridiculous. In some shots the characters look so small compared to her it's crazyyy
Ok, now. Sugar. I'll be honest? She's great! She's just a menace and doing her own thing and it's fun to watch! She's also interesting in terms of backstory since she's canonically a pageant queen; her relationship with Ella is greatly impacted by this, since she heavily suspects her of lying to her face when it's just. Ella being Ella. Similar thing to her opinion on Topher; she doesn't like him for his sucking up to Chris, the host (something that Rusty probably agrees with). I fucking wish she was more popular because then people would look into her more, but alas. She's a female, plus sized character in Pahkitew Island, so considering the Fandom's biases, it was never going to happen. U_U
OK TIME FOR ZOMBIE BOY. So, Shawn. He's definitely more present in these episodes than he was before, and, again, i think he's fun! He's a weird little guy. He's got interesting skills (his camouflage, legit parkour, general athleticism) and his personality's interesting as well compared to the other guys. The zombie thing is fine, actually, because they do different things with it over the course of these episodes. Not much to say about him, he's a solid character to me and i wish he had more interactions with the cast outside of Dave and his pining for Jasmine. Who he's talked to like, five times at this point? Again, they probably should've talked stuff out faster than this for me to actually enjoy it. Oh well.
And finally, Sky. She's an interesting case for me? She's fine, mostly. She's the Normal Person™️ of the cast to me, and that means she really struggles to grab me. It's made worse by her main plot being a basic romance plot where the gimmick is that she's a reasonable human being and Dave isn't. And neither are able to have a normal fucking conversation about it either. The mixed signals thing could've been interesting, but this is Fresh TV writters, so of course it didn't end up that way. I assume the episodes without Dave are the ones where her personality shines more? Because so far she's just been really reserved and calm. And said she'd "focus on the competition only" And then. Doesn't. Really.
God i wish this season treated it's female characters better :(

the screentime is not well split among the cast
the romance plots and pacing of the Island plot are the weakest parts of this season
the challenges are fine
Why does Chef have 5 lines total.
Pahkitew Island does NOT deserve the overly negative rep it gets in this Fandom, at least based on the first 8 episodes.

Digimon Tamers - Episode 24
This episode was fantastic, so many emotional moments. And we got a new ED (and slightly modified OP)! Going into this episode I was a little annoyed knowing they wouldn't actually be going to the digital world yet, but they did such a good job building up the hype that I think it ended up being very necessary to have one last human world episode. So pumped to see how the next arc plays out!
Notes:
When Takato is like "our town..." in the opening monologue does he mean Tokyo? Shinjuku? Just struck me as kind of funny to call that area a town, but what do I know
Seeing the various ways the kids tell their parents about their journey was super fascinating. I like how they all did it in different ways with varying levels of directness. Honestly I think the "I told them it's a school trip" option made the most sense to me. If this was real life there's no way in hell a parent would allow their 10 year old kid to go off into some dangerous, alien world.
Something about Jian's dad interacting with Terriermon is really cute. It would actually be cool to see a Digimon series with adults as the MCs since they have a different perspective on the world.
Juri mysteriously dodged the question about how she told her parents about the trip. I wasn't sure how to interpret that. Did she just not tell them at all? Does she actually not get along with them?
I think Ruki's departure from her family was probably the most interesting. Her grandma has this sort of sage understanding of the situation while her mom is blissfully unaware. The scene where Ruki dresses up for mom to leave her on a high note was really sad.
Suddenly Culumon is in a lantern-shaped cage. Lol where did that come from?
Some interesting Yamaki moments. I guess he's realized the error of his ways and is now on the kids' side? Kinda abrupt, but I can dig it. (Also, he was more handsome than usual this episode teehee)
The scene with the teacher was insane! The kids just flat out tell her they're leaving school and she's like "wtf?? what am I supposed to do with this knowledge!?" In America at least, teachers would probably be expected to report something like this, but they did already tell their parents so...I understand why this kind of breaks her. Like...how is she supposed to just carry on like normal? Moumantai my butt!
Takato's dad's support kinda had me sighing and rolling my eyes, but oh well. Can't project my real world context onto things I guess
^The appropriate reaction. I feel like if the parents had witnessed some digimon battles and saw what their kids were capable of, I might buy it a little more. But Takato's mom & dad just found out that Guilmon exists!
lol @ Shiuchon just kind of rolling with it when she finds out that Terriermon is real. It was nice to finally see them talk to each other. Hopefully Terriermon can set boundaries with her now when he gets back.
Yamaki at the end being like "I'm jealous" is the stand in for me, the 31 year old watching this and being like "why can't I be a 10 year old going on adventures instead of working my 9-5!"
So pleased that I'm watching this at the perfect time! They kept emphasizing how this is taking place at the end of summer. Love it when things work out that way.
Lots of insert songs this episode + the new ED. I can't wait to listen to them all on their own and soak in the lyrics. I like that the ED has a more mature, somber tone compared to the first one.
Side note: I've been calling Culumon "he," but then saw someone on MAL use "she." When I google it I found that Culumon is likely genderless (unfortunately I also saw some spoilers while googling boohoo). Guess I'll try to use "they" now...

"I need to know. It could be a lead in the investigation. Someone may have tampered with the murder scene."
"Right. About something else, then..."
CUNO - "Listen! Listen!" He stops you. "Cuno doesn't care about this small-time shit. Just listen -- Cuno saw what you did there. Dumpster diving. Sad shit."
"Cuno could hook you up with some sweet rags. Shit like Cuno's wearing." He points to his pants. "Your size, good price, 500 reál."
"Wait - I asked you what happened to *his* clothes. You must have seen them lying around?"
"Alright, entertain me -- what's so great about these pants?"
"No. Cuno, you don't know anything about the tampering I'm investigating, and I already have pants."
CUNO - "Look, Cuno ain't seen shit lying around, 'cept for that f****t up there." He points to the cadaver. "Now you want performance gear or not, grandpa?"
KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant remains silent, but his expression couldn't say *I told you so* any louder.
2. "Alright, entertain me -- what's so great about these pants?"
CUNO - "Pig, these are FALN *Modulars*! Liquid fit, performance crotch, urban survival shit! Made in Mirova... by scientists. *Pants* scientists."
"Believe it, you *need* this shit..." He unzips his jacket to give you a quick peek at the plastic-wrapped pants. They are graphite-black and look brand new.
SAVOIR FAIRE [Trivial: Success] - These could drastically improve your chances of survival in the urban wilderness.
PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT [Easy: Success] - Coach Physical Instrument endorses these pants. They are tartan-ready.
3. "I might be interested in the pants. Let's talk about this later."
CUNO - "All right, piggo!" His face lights up. "Shit's rolling."
CUNOESSE - "Don't do business with the pig, Cuno! He's gonna steal all your money, Cuno!"
New task: Buy FALN pants from Cuno
CUNO - "As you can see..." Cuno nods towards the fence. "Cuno and C don't trust you. Can't do business without trust."
EMPATHY [Medium: Success] - There's more to his distrust than being a *pig*. He feels threatened by something obscure in you. What that is, however, remains a puzzle for now.
"There was also a mug in the trash." (Show him the mug.)
CUNO - "The fuck? A *mug* in the trash? Is this about the fucking clothes again?"
"Yes. Does this racist mug have anything to do with it?"
"Yes. Does this adequate depiction of a South-Samaran man have anything to do with it?"
"Yes, does this quaint, better-not-taken-out-of-its-historical-context mug have anything to do with it?"
"Actually, talking about this makes me uncomfortable. Let's back up a notch."
CUNO - "Yeah, Cuno sees where this is going. Cuno's got that fast-brain," he whispers excitedly. "You saying you pigs are after the mug fucker -- coz he's the clothes fucker..."
CUNOESSE - "Can't hear you, Cuno! Speak louder, Cuno!"
"That's exactly what I'm saying, Cuno. Someone has tampered with the crime scene, cleaned some of it up."
CUNO - "Shit, that's tense..." He thinks for a moment. "Someone's going to the beatdown-basement, huh? Mug-guy gonna get tied to the radiator." He nods in approval.
"Cuno doesn't know who put that shit in there. And if he did, he wouldn't squeal. But if you find out, maybe you can..."
CUNOESSE - "Stop turning into a pig, Cuno! They're trying to get you hooked on the snitching!" She lets out a hiss, even meaner than before. "Get away from my Cuno, f****ts!"
CUNO - "Yeah!" Cuno jumps back. "Get your bacon shit away! Cuno doesn't like to be seen with the popo. Get your shit done and out of Cuno's face!"

Chapter 37 - thoughts.
Heya everyone!
Here are chapter 37's notes!! The long awaited continuation of the Naoya's sick saga hehe.
As required of me, I highly recommend reading the chapter first, unless you want out of context spoilers 😂 which you can read right over here!
Without further ado, spoilers underneath the cut, and happy reading!
Now chapter 37… let’s start with the things that were not supposed to happen.
Y/N and Naoya getting along hahahah
I intended his whole sickness to be nothing more than her just pushing through it, not talking to him, not even looking at him—nothing. Tend him and then NEXT.
But when I got down to writing the chapter, it happened. I couldn’t keep Y/N and Naoya apart. And I don’t think I wanted to honestly.
My main worry when writing their dynamics was making it appear as if Y/N moved on so quickly from all that occurred with him. Like, just one situation that she’s forced to be in and now she’s forgiven him and back to being buddies—but I’d like to think I managed, and if anything, we got to see her perspective of this marriage.
I plan to expand more on it in the future, but for now I think I can say is: Y/N wanted the marriage to work. She wanted to see Naoya treat her nicely for a change, desperately so, that you can briefly read in the chapter how she’s trying to excuse his behavior just because she doesn’t want to be proven wrong again.
The way she goes on saying things like “well, if he didn’t have it in him, then he wouldn’t, right?” just to hold onto the hope that she’s truly going to see her family soon (and a brighter future for their union), and not his words being just a side effect of his sickness 😭 that ending scene was really, really sad. But very satisfying from a writer’s pov lol I think I managed to convey what I wanted to write in the end.
The other thing I wanted to show is the contrast between the two, and how ironic it seems to be. Like, Naoya is the heir, right, he’s essentially the next leader of the clan and is bound to get all them goods in due time, but the moment he makes a mistake he’s quickly dethroned, stripped of all those commodities as a way of punishment.
While Y/N, who has destroyed her reputation with most, is treated way better than him. We’ve seen them, how they act and whatnot. They don’t have alliances, not even with themselves. All of this must be so crazy for Y/N lol considering how close her family were, but oh well, different upbringings.
In the end I suppose Y/N never thought she’d actually find some similarities with Naoya—or anything outside of him being an absolute monster. Seeing him act like an actual human was baffling to her, MORE SO WHEN HE SEEMED TO TAKE THEIR MARRIAGE SERIOUSLY? I mean, only on the ring part, which took her by storm because Y/N didn’t believe him to be actually loyal to her.
And let’s not even get into the loneliness factor. (more on that later) Y/N can’t wrap her head around the fact that Naoya, as revered as he is, is completely alone. Like, throughout the days she’s been there with him no one has bothered to visit him outside of the staff doing their job. Not even Ranta! (Although he’s working—I was planning on writing a scene with him but I decided it was too much and doesn’t really add to the story; but yeah, he’s still a good friend, probably visited when she’s not around)
Anyways, someone of my readers commented that they were shocked Naoya was loyal, and I’m going to be real with y’all: Naoya might cheat, it’s like, super likely, HOWEVER, I like to think that with his one and only that is out of the question.
Also, he grew up seeing his father actively cheating on his mother, and we all know he does NOT like Naobito. So, he might engage into multiple relationships, but never formalize them, or keep them like one-night stands…. Soooo technically he’s not cheating?
This part of him is really intricate. In the way that even when he already set his eyes on Y/N he was going out with other women? But they weren’t together so there’s that. It’s just his need for affection motivating him to do that, once he was married, everyone else ceased to exist.
Either way, these things really opened her heart to be sensitive to him. She’s taking these changes as an omen for the best; the light at the end of the tunnel. Let’s pray he doesn’t break that trust again.
Also, I took this opportunity to briefly mention what happened in the honeymoon hahaha I felt like I skipped over that part so quickly, it’s like it almost didn’t happen. But yeah, Y/N remembers that alright, although I don’t think she wants to 😅 I’m still considering whether to write more of it or not… I shall decide on it later hehe.
From there, their scenes together omg the fluffy ones I mean, my favorite one has to be the hand holding one. It was so cute!!! Or feeding him, or dressing him up in general; I really, really want to see more domestic stuff between the two, and fortunately, there’s a bit more in the next chapter :> heheheh (also I wanted to give y’all something sweet after chapters of angst. I was over the moon when yall told me you liked it 🥺❤️)
P.S. I wanted to reveal this later, but when writing this chapter my playlist just kept on putting this song, coincidentally, the one that reminds me the most of Naoya and Y/N.
There’s one more chapter left for the Naoya’s sickness saga and then… that chapter I think idk I gotta see how the plot line goes lol but yeah, we’re very close to something I’ve been wanting to show for the longest 2.0 I swear all was pointing to that!!! Kfgvakjsgajkgsajkgasjgaj oof. I just hope I played all my moves correctly.

This one always hits home for me, many of my childhood nightmares weren’t necessarily “monsters under the bed” but instead something looming at the end of my bed or in the doorway. That feeling of not being able to see but just knowing that something is there.
Aside from childhood spookies, I like this episode because not only do we see more of Melanie working in the archives, but she also gets an explanation for why Tim and Martin are acting that way towards her in the same episode. I feel like usually a character having a revelation like this takes several episodes, so I think it’s nice that she gets at least a basic explanation of what’s going on so early in her career. I also just feel bad for Tim, because yeah, he’s kinda being a jerk but in this episode we get a glimpse of just how much Sasha’s disappearance really broke him. He used to be such a fun character, a bisexual icon, the archive’s life of the party, but he’s been stalked, betrayed, kept in the dark, and lost probably his only real friend in the archives, and then to not even be able to remember what they were like? It makes sense why he’s just a husk of a man, but it still makes me so sad. (I know none of these are new revelations but it’s 1 am and my silly monster post turned into vomiting feelings about Timothy Stoker onto my phone so)
Also, listening to the way Melanie responds to Jon’s question about the ghost bullet is a nice bit of foreshadowing that I missed my first few listens of this episode.
Oh man seeing Tim broken like that hurts every time
Interesting that Melanie actually gets the full picture from Jon after this scene. She has full context of the insanity that is the archive and for now takes it in stride.

2 downton 2 abbey: THOMAS THOUGHTS
I had to restrain myself from LITERALLY shouting “Thank God, it is my boy!” when Thomas first walked out in his brown suit. (Though there were some talkers in the movie and I vaguely regret not just going for it. But there were some other people who weren’t talking, so I wouldn’t want to add to the talking they heard.)
I was surprised by how emotional I got actually seeing that this time Fellowes had integrated Thomas’s romance plot with the rest of the story. I don’t often get emotional about steps forward in Representation(TM), but this one made my heart squeeze in my chest.
I really liked how they showed how fed up with Downton Thomas was. Would I also have enjoyed if they had gone another direction and had him building happiness there? Definitely! But this felt very real, and I was surprised to find how grateful I was that instead they made the full arc from season 6 to here be Thomas clinging to Downton out of desperation, then being optimistic to change how he relates to it, and then gradually discovering that it’s certainly better but it’s still the same basic place it was and that’s not a place that’s good for his thriving, even with his Bold New Attitude.
I uh, not to be overly whatever, but I feel really represented by that. I’ve developed a Bold New Attitude so damn many times because I believed that sticking it out and not “giving up because it’s imperfect” were the right choices or the healthy choices or the strong choices, and while I can’t say for sure that what I learned from doing that wasn’t worth it... what I learned from doing that was largely that it doesn’t work. And, perhaps more importantly, that other ways of continuing to try are better. A therapist once told me a really great reframing that I don’t goddamn remember the words of, but the gist of it was like “choosing to do/try one thing over another is as much about the thing you’re choosing as the thing you’re setting aside for it” definitely said way better but like. Okay in sum the idea that Thomas “gave up” by leaving Downton is complete anathema to me and it was the complete opposite of giving up, it was trying again.
That being said, it would be nice if, in addition to showing how frustrated he was with Downton, they showed him actively enjoying something about the filming process.
It would also be nice if they had given him a scene each with Baxter and the kids. (I only thought I’d care about the kids, but it turns out I cared about both.) Why Andy scene with kids instead of Thomas?! >:| >:| >:|
I didn’t hate Mrs. Hughes’s approach as much as when I watched it in the uploaded scenes. Big difference is, on the big screen her delivery of “And that’s... sad?” came across pretty differently. It felt more tentative, rather than almost... skeptical. Like perhaps she doesn’t want to assume that’s the sad thing or why. Which in turn made me parse the “brave but lonely” line as more comforting. (Though still, in my opinion, a bit scolding (not quite the right word but I still can’t think of the right one) - I think, honestly, if Mrs. Hughes is judging one of Thomas or Richard as making a worse choice, it isn’t Richard.)
While I still think that definitely wasn’t The Breakup Letter (if nothing else the line “I know it shouldn’t be (sad)” seems nonsensical if it is), I’m open to the interpretation that it was the... nail in the coffin letter. I think his sadness could be read either as sadness about the world and the lives men like him and Richard aren’t allowed to live, or as being about a final door being closed in regards to his and Richard’s romance. However I still think I prefer the first.
In context I actually do understand more why people were frustrated Guy wasn’t working class. The way he was specifically contrasted with Myrna, his ability to play the gentleman as opposed not just to her rudeness but her - rudeness. In the older sense. It made his middle-classness, and the distance between that and working class, seem more salient.
Also hm! Thomas’s reaction to the “Anything? That seems like a tall order,” now in context I’m not positive he understood it was flirty? Because he and the others had just been dealing with Myrna’s bossiness/rudeness, so it could have been an uh-oh moment of “Is he gonna be a Difficult Customer too?” rather than an uh-oh moment of worrying about how Guests go about their flirting. Of course, I still like the second interpretation better for reasons I’ve laid out. But I think they are both plausible.
I really liked Thomas’s hesitancy with Guy, that he takes a while to relax! More than I did, I think, in the collected clips. That being said... their romance was in fact the one plotline that did feel a bit rushed. I do wish we knew how long Guy was there - more than the initially estimated month, but by how much?
I still really like that they settled starting the “working friendship” part of things before starting the romance, to see them start both at once would feel really rushed, but I also still feel that I was cheated out of a kiss dammit.
And lastly: there were people in the theater who didn’t know Guy was into Thomas until the lapel touch. They “ooh”ed. Heh. I wonder how that reveal came across if you hadn’t realized.

Umineko EP5. Replay Part 4
I think this is the first console animation I really like, I think a lot of the other ones look kind of cheap and make the screen look busy. But her sword animation's pretty cool.
Ok yeah, Battler is going along with exposing her life but doesn't appreciate how everyone is trying to drag her through the mud, it seems. The fight beforehand had some cool music and moments I just didn't comment on it much bc a lot was defining of the mystery rules which, well, we already know the answer.
Haha.... Beatrice realizes Battler is going to fight for the illusion of the witch :).
....white horse haha. The white horse discussion being brought back again when Battler starts arguing for the witch side again is a neat detail, he's finally trying to understand Beatrice for real.
You could also argue that the fact Natsuhi has been noted to clean thoroughly to check for mistakes was foreshadowed all the way back on episode 2! Also the way people describe Dlanor as heartless, a doll, etc kind of makes me sad lol. They obviously don't have full context but she's anything but that.
Uh, I didn't save the draft properly so a bunch of screens got lost and so I will just summarize my thoughts on the following scenes rather quickly.
The scene of Battler and Dlanor in the garden is really nice, it is obviously Battler kind of navigating through his more complex thoughts about magic he has gotten recently through learning Dlanor has her own conflicted view of magic, and I think the way he isn't hostile to Dlanor and instead assures her that what is in her heart matters is showing the growth Battler has done in understanding under. This scene generally sets the mood for how we should view magic for the rest of the answers arc. Dlanor then teases that Battler was let win, which brings me to the next subject, Erika.
Erika was given some verbal abuse by LambdaBern because of losing (despite the fact she was made to lose, intentionally, by the people berating her) and so Erika goes on to abuse her subordinates in retaliation, which I think really does go on to show Erika is someone that can be empathized with. So much of the cast are people who throw their own abuse and frustrations into the others, and Erika also does this. It is kind of sad to me when the game remarks how she can't see love, how can she see love when it has never been afforded to her? I wasn't a particularly big fan of her at first reading, but it's hard to not read her as someone desperate for the approval of someone who was never gonna give it to her and so she lashes out to others. The game even directly points out Bernkastel is like a mother to her before she gets abused.
The letter mystery is discussed a lot, and Erika has some pretty good theories, I really like the hidden below the food tray one particularly, but obviously, since the event never happened it can get struck down. They end up concluding no one outside and no one inside could have made a knock, so if no one could have done that, it just did not happen. Lambdadelta fucks with Erika some more despite the fact she also doesn't really seem to have a clue. And Erika once again becomes desperate and decides to get revenge on Battler this time.
So she just kind of rants at everyone about how Batler didn't actually jump and just crawled, no one really cares bc they imagined it was a trick and it doesn't really matter and are just really confused at Erika zeroing at this. Bernkastel then LITERALLY tries to strike down Erika with thunder and Erika is so desperate for approval she assume this is a sign of approval from Bern.... someone save this girl.
Virgilia pops in at... inboard meta and confirms that the corpses were dragged somewhere they describe as "connected to the world but that no one can get to" which I think is a hint that Kuwadaorian, and Erika can't reasonably go there. Virgilia drops some truths about how no one would mistake their corpses from sight, which is true as they weren't corpses yet and once they became corpses no one can mistake them. They also make it really clear that Board-Beato and Meta-Beato are different people, and while this Board Beatrice is obviously not being played by Sayo bc Sayo does want to corner Natsuhi, I think this is also hammering in that Sayo in this board has different motivations than the other Sayos. Obviously that doesn't mean you can just dismiss them as another being entirely, though. Sayo's bitterness at Natsuhi can be seen in other fragments, it's just Sayo's motivations being written by someone with a different view of her.
Natsuhi did some good acting tbh she played the character of exasperated Natsuhi in order to run off the room perfectly. Battler going out of his way to point out she should close the door is weird, might be his way of sympathizing and trying to get Natsuhi to not fall into the trap.
Also.... what the fuck Natsuhi? That's an awful punishment, obviously I think the goal in this episode is a bit more revenge than repentance, but Sayo in general seems to place accepting your sins as something important, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the assignment, especially since it's perfectly possible Shannon got told this from Jessica at some point.
The "Did Shannon do this?" is kind of funny because the answer is like, yes but not because the reason you figured Natsuhi lol Sayo just placed 4 cards in your room, doubt she even remembers that. Also, her narrative about how she's ungrateful is sad when the only reason Natsuhi can hold on to her wealth is Sayo deciding to let her.
Natsuhi points out that Hideyoshi going to the room is unpredictable therefore obvi not part of the plan.... obviously when it's obvious that him being there IS the plan you should suspect Hideyoshi of being in the plan. The scene is obviously very scripted in general, with Eva jumping in to hear Hideyoshi's last word and the murder being completed + Eva showing up so fast that Natsuhi didn't get to steel herself to leave the closet.
It's kind of funny how much they seem to be fucking with Erika as much as with Natsuhi.... they ask her to carry the corpse and she is like idc about corpses and then they take the corpse, letting Erika seal her own demise. Granted Erika would fuck everything up for them and they can't bribe her so, yknow, makes sense. Considering the public spat Jessica and Erika had I can imagine this is how they convinced her to do a fake murder plan, tell her it was to see Erika fuck it up.
Erika tries to open the closet, but gets stopped by Battler because her seeing the fake Hideyoshi corpse was probably too big a risk.
Erika is really earnest about Natsuhi being the culprit... girlfail....
This scene between Virgilia and Beatrice in the Golden Land is very interesting. Virgilia points out that Bern and Lambda were brought to end the deadlock of Battler being unable to understand Beatrice, and like I have said Lambdadelta has indeed been dropping a million hints! They broke the deadlock by forcing Battler to consider how important Beatrice is to him and how much she wanted to be understood by him.... after he nearly killed her.
Beatrice being described as being in purgatory is calling back to the time time Battler forgot her too. She was obviously not in heaven, Battler never came with a white horse to save her. But she wasn't allowed to be in hell and accept that Battler just didn't give a shit because Battler never confirmed that himself. She was stuck in that painful feeling where you know keeping hope is lying to yourself but not lying to yourself feels like betraying someone you love.
Everyone introduces themselves - bringing attention to how the cast has increased so much since the original 18. Bernkastel points out that Natsuhi is the bullied kid in every fragment which is pretty much true, the manga has Beato point this out in EP8, too. The irony of Beatrice is tasked with defending Natsuhi when Sayo holds a particular bitterness towards Natsuhi has been going through my mind during this episode.
Battler struggles a bit with how the truth is very fragile in Rokkenjima, and I think that he's beginning to understand Sayo *wanted* a catbox.
Bernkastel calling Beato sub-human..., ouch. There's a lot of talk about how Erika has to do this because a human, not a witch, has to solve this... but it's kind of funny to me. Erika is a fictional being with many powers not afforded to humans. She's not a witch but I wouldn't call her human either.
Erika first drops her seals, it's interesting to me they are hand-me-downs from Eva. Kinda makes me interested in seeing Eva and Erika interact more.
The going-down-the-list effect is cool too.... if I remember correctly they 'deny' all of them despite the fact one of them is obviously the right answer, I think on replay you can see the "never stop thinking" philosophy a lot during the answer arcs.
"Is it not possible that they were actually just playing dead" was knocked off with the red truth "These give really are dead" but notoriously the time is not mentioned in this red truth despite the fact it is being discussed heavily otherwise. Only the fact that that they were alive at 24:00 was discussed.
You can tell they are giving Beatrice a hard time and letting Erika off easy though - confirming alibis like that without real proof is huge. And the more red truth that gets confirmed the harder it is for the Witch Side to be able to move about. Erika gets kids gloves a lot which is something she will realize and try to rectify at the end of EP6 i think.
Battler understands that Beato was helping him a lot now! Aaa, that makes me very happy. He mentions "She responded to almost all of them (red truths), giving me quite a few hints"
The description of Erika listening to the room the entire night is kind of interesting, yeah proves her point Battler didn't do shit but the fact she heard nothing in that entire time is a clue that a murder absolutely did not take place.
Erika kinda jumps into "the murder must have occurred between 12-3" as a response to this. This is where her whole theory fails as she doesn't consider that the murder didn't even take place.
This being the first completely fake murder is pretty interesting. If any murder HAD occurred Erika would 100% have caught them on the act. Lambdadelta probably figured Bernkastel would play aggressive detective and built her game around that.
The description of Erika creating the plot line is interesting. It shows how she makes up a theory in her head she will absolutely refuse to move from it and will continue with it to the end. It works right now because LambdaBern are giving her a lot of help... but, her theory is based on many false assumptions, and on replay it's kind of fascinating how from step one you can tell how all of these re wrong when they felt so suffocating when you first read this part.
"Even if Erika has accused Aunt Natsuhi of being the culprit, ...and even if everyone else here believes that, ...that's exactly why I want to be the one person who trusts her..!" Battler is kind of sweet when he's being kind of delusional like this haha reminds me of when he was denying Kanon culprit theory on ep2. Of course, he's right here and he was only kind of right in ep2. But it's more based on his desire to defend the small dog than it is on any actual proof or anything. But still, it's not a purely negative trait. And he's going to realize that "Even if everyone else here believes that" will apply to Beatrice soon, too.
Do you want to create a catbox, Battler? Are you understanding what led Sayo to create one? Having no answer is better than a heartless one, isn't it.
Natsuhi is given the opportunity to accuse Krauss and she obviously doesn't take it. She talks about how no one can damage her honor with fiction. It's kind of sad she mostly uses her incredible resilience and power to hold to her position mostly to defend people who do not care about her, but I still can't help but find this trait of her impressive. If she was able to use it for other stuff.....
"Truth can only be found in the gap between those who doubt and those who believe...!!" are echoing Battler's thoughts 5 minutes ago, ofc, but they also serve to highlight what Beatrice has always wanted. She doesn't want you to deny the witch illusion but also doesn't want you to accept it uncritically. She wants you to see what is hidden behind her and accept the person behind the illusion.
Kinzo kidnapped a woman, called her useless for being infertile, and forced her to adopt a child she didn't want.... and in that entire time he never once deemed her worthy of his gaze. I fucking hate Kinzo.
They show everyone's faces when Eva is eating the shit out of Natsuhi and Kanon looks so like... kind of smug lmfao. Clearly enjoying that their plan to torture Natsuhi worked.
Lambdadelta knows the truth, of course. She also taunts Beato about how she isn't able to defend herself once she get fed to the goats.... Lambda might be doing a lot to make Lambda's dream possible but she isn't about to save her. She has no tolerance for people who don't do the work themselves.
Dlanor stops the Beatrice execution and then plays the role of looking annoyed and condescending to Battler. Dlanor mentioned earlier how her heart doesn't matter because she does awful things anyway but in this case, her heart gave Battler another chance
Huh.... the TIP for Dlanor's Red Key mentions that "In this world, Senator Lamdadelta has placed restrictions on its use and power." The idea Dlanor can just say anything in red she pleases in any other world is kind of op! No wonder she's a death sentence.
Battler is fighting Erika by trying to argue about the seals, this serves to feed the player a bunch of reds in order to have no delusions of breaking them. Battler's on the right track that he has to attack the fundamentals of Erika's theory, but he's not getting to the right thing to attack, yet.
I'm going to kill you Battler you just made me cry again... her cackling sound so sad and frenzied..... god damn it Battler. She is so fucked up.... the voice acting here is so sad.
Battler realizing he's failing Beatrice, finally, starts to frantically throw out shitty theories. You uh, kind of killed Beatrice with that once already but I appreciate the effort at least.
It is extremely funny, I say it's funny as I am crying, but: Dlanor has barely said a word to refute any of Battler's arguments besides pointing out the Knox Rules. He's just getting hit with "your theories are too stupid to be put in a mystery" over and over.
He's right here though! They weren't mistaken, they were correct and lying! Natsuhi didn't check the corpses so this is still true, she's the one person who isn't on the plan besides Erika.
My heart is broken into many pieces.
Beatrice talks about the fragility of truth a lot during this episode, this was first brought to the story by Ange, actually, but obviously it's a big part of Sayo's character. She understood this fragility when creating the catbox. It can sometimes be empowering for her when ie she's using Beatrice as a power fantasy but also can deeply hurt her when she starts thinking that dying with a 'happy lie' is better than living a harsh truth.

The Wilds Season 2 Review: Part 3
Alright Ladies:
overall, a lot of “oh sweetie” and “oh, honey :(” and “poor baby” notes for our ladies
Dot
Not much screen time this season, but when we did see her it was perfect
it was actually nice to see her doing nothing.
The part in episode 4 where Leah and Shelby remind her that she’s still a child needed to be said long before that moment
Leadotin vibes in the birthday episode were so good. What a trio. I hope they live together when they get home
Also, in season 1 when Matteo gives her Gretchen’s card, he says that she could help Dot avoid foster care. and I fucking hate that she did that by trapping her on an island until she turned 18
Dottie with the Gretchen mention in episode 5!!
Dottie’s pimple was the 8th member this season
Her talking to her dad, and then using her experience with her dad to help Toni was beautiful

My first Toni note isn’t until episode 2 and it’s about how much she cares about Leah (they are one of my brotps so I loved it)
I love that she loves Nora Roberts and wedding planning. what a little romantic legend
Um, so that Shoni sex scene...happened
for episode 6 I wrote that Shoni were gonna fuck in the hot springs, and then I wrote maybe not because the vibes were weird after the L word, but then they made up and are in love, so...maybe they did fuck in the hot spring
The fact that Toni lashed out at everyone and no one blew up at her is the kinda thing she needed to experience. Like, they all came back to her. As opposed to everyone else in her life back home who just leaves or throws her away. They proved that they love her and that they are by her side no matter what. Dot and Rachel even comforted her.

I love that Fatin from Berkley, California hates trees. I guess I can relate as someone from L.A. who hates the beach
I legit forgot that Fatin is a music prodigy until she called the performance flat

Episode 3 is when Leah starts to become the comedic relief and I am fucking living for it. Like, her one liners for the rest of the episodes are her reactions to other characters is fucking gold
I love how they made the bamboo whistle scene seem so serious in the trailers and then it’s literally just her and Rachel starting a band lol
I hate that they even mentioned that man’s name at all, but I’m glad she used him against them
“I was sorta standing there but...” I think Shelby kinda scared Leah in the party planning scene lol

Joker's hard to talk about because he's... not anything. I love his design and his mannerisms and thats all there Is to like about a silent protagonist. I'm fond of the image of him I created in my head and some of the trends in how fanfics tend to depict him. I appreciate that because the persona writers simply did not write him he is the only character free from the persona writers' bullshit. i hesitate to say persona would be better if the protagonist wasn't silent because of this. In the blank space where the character you play as in persona 5 should be like in the outlines of his context and the small cues about him i think there's fucking interesting space to elaborate on and picture a good character. lyrics of shapeshifter (??? the poes masquerade song) are interesting in the context of a silent protagonist thats really cool, the way Arsene talks to him is interesting that's actually the most direct character we get on him right because Arsene is a facet of Joker with real set in stone dialog and what he says is aren't you tired of being nice don't you want to go apeshit. ravage them. i like akira in my head and hey i like elaborating on characters in fic and a blank one makes a very obvious space to do that so i guess thats one benefit of him not talking
they are more interesting offscreen than in ztd. largely it makes luna way cooler her being created in the image of a dead woman who she exists partly to kinda sorta bring back to life/be replaced by in a better world is sick. the secret password in the gaulem bay being "reminescence" is sad with Diana in mind. i think she is a cool backdrop of context to VLR the rhizome does get sadder going through it with her in mind. there's a lot of weird stuff to explore with how like. sigma can only meet her after she already knows him, she can only meet sigma after he already knows her. she falls in love with a dude and then he gets really essentially replaced by a very different 40 years younger version of himself and she is just kinda bound to be his anchor assistant
but whats actually in the game. i barely remember a thing about diana ever other than the happiness is closer than you think scene which is good and the two parts where delta talks to her. like i just cannot tell you much about diana she leaves very little impression on me. and ztd sigma well he doesnt really either... theyre fine? their end is one of the better parts of ztd. or at least one of the more memorable. Like most of ztd there's some theoretically interesting concepts you can expand on in fic etc but the game itself doesnt get and/or utilize the space to go into it much itself.

The Almighty Johnsons - S2E2 Deleted Scene
In this scene, Ty is leaving Anders's flat after having found Dawn there, passed out on the couch with 3 open wine bottles. (This was all Agentha's idea - she told Dawn to test them out, and then talked to Anders, who called Ty and told him to check on Dawn.)
Agnetha is in his van by surprise and he calls her out for setting this whole thing up. She encourages him to leave Eva and pursue Dawn because Dawn actually loves him.
Why I'm sad this scene was cut:
IMO, it better illustrates that Agentha genuinely wants Ty to be happy than some of the other scenes in this season meant to convey this. I remember the first time I watched S2 wondering if she was just trying to break Ty and Eva up because of other reasons and not worry over Ty.
I don't love the way she talks about "claiming" Dawn in one part of this scene. I do think that it's nice to want your kid to be with someone who loves him, but I think Ty is right that Agentha is more using Dawn as a means to an end than actually being concerned about what's best for Dawn, so I really liked him calling her out on it. It really shows how he cares for her.
I also really liked Ty calling his mom out on leaving! The boys don't get enough acknowledgement/apology from their parents about how shitty they were as parents. It's often like it is in this scene, where it's sort of brought up, and not really defended but also no real repenting happens either. Just sort of "that is what happened".
BUT, I also loved her labeling Ty and Eva's relationship as abusive, and praising Ty for how he tried to help her when Joe was abusive. I actually think this might be the most genuine display of motherly love/care Agnetha shows (maybe that's why they cut it? She was too sympathetic?). Her saying that she believes that Ty will find the strength to end things was kind, and I hope that she believed it when she said that she and the boys would be behind Ty when he did.
ALSO, the next scene we see Ty in, in the actual episode, he's still sitting in his van and he happens to see Dawn take out the recycling. That scene, without this before it, makes it seem like Ty just sat outside the flat for a bit like a stalker (not out of the question) but with this context, it seems more like he just happened to still be there because of the Agnetha convo.
Why I think it's okay this scene was cut:
I wonder if they thought this scene might undermine the impact of the flashbacks to the abuse that we get in the next episode? Much of the information is conveyed in that scene as well.
Another issue I have with the scene is that it may give viewers the impression that Hel/Hod is just like any other god and goddess pairing, but since these two are god-spouses, I think the pull between them is a lot stronger than Agnetha is giving credit for. I think her character just doesn't know this, but we later see evidence of the gods overruling their vessels' desires in how Anders is with both Iduns and even Hanna with Mike vs Axl (more on this one in a later post I'm sure, but in one scene Hanna says that the goddess always wins, which is why she must go name Axl as Odin even though she wants to be with Mike). The pull between gods and goddesses is always strong, but it seems overwhelmingly so in god-spouses, to the point of destruction.
So in a way, though Agnetha is trying to encourage Ty to leave Eva for his own sake, I think Hod's desire to be with Hel is stronger than she realizes. When he says "I have to do this" I think that's what he means, and not that he's referring to the contract from the end of S1.
Also there just seems to be some continuity issues with this scene. It's very clearly sunny when he's in the flat with Dawn, and then it's dark and raining already by the time he gets outside?
Also where are the bins? Dawn is shown interacting with them outside the door but they're not in these shots. Not that this matters at all, just an observation, lmao.

3. What is that one scene that you’ve always wanted to write but can’t be arsed to write all of the set-up and context it would need? (consider this permission to write it and/or share it anyway)
hmm….. i usually do just write them anyway, lol. as far as rasmr goes…. i would love to write brachium&sunshine/elliott in person interactions of some kind, flavored similarly to cinnamon (oh my god they were roommates) but we know So Little about brachium that i know i would need to make up some shit to do it right, and id like to just wait and hope tbh. i might cave eventually though, it depends. but i have this real nice image of sunshine and brachium holding hands & going shopping for big chunky sunglasses so his eyes don’t freak people out & clothes that actually have color in them, & elliott has to carry the bags. (please erik let my kids out of closeknits basement it’s been more than half a year)
6. What character do you have the most fun writing?
the most fun is sam. i like making sure he has the right balance of Southern Flavor without like writing in dialect or whatever. and i am originally southern (texas 😔) so i take some small joy in making him say stuff like ‘might could’ lol
the Easiest (&thus a different flavor of most fun) are my own ocs, Especially aster. love writing aster

this is a fun question!! here’s one: circuit breaker, my william & lovely bonding fic, had a first draft where vincent was also present that i completed before scrapping it. the problem i ran across was that the fic was partially a request, and was meant to be about william & lovely. i wanted it to include some family bonding with william and his progeny and his grandprogeny, but i couldn’t imagine any situation where vincent would fuck off of his own volition when his partner was freaking out, so i ended up having to send him away entirely. here, have some abandoned vincent from that time:
Vincent gives them a long look, brow furrowed. “Was it because of me? On the phone?”
They open their mouth to tell him ‘no’, and the word chokes on the way out, stuck in their throat. They watch as Vincent realizes, as his expression crumbles for a moment. “Hey, hang on. It’s not — I mean, it was, but I was pushing it. I was trying to listen in, I —”
Reaching out, slowly so they can stop him, Vincent pushes a strand of their hair out of their face. His fingers are so soft against their skin, another constant, despite how sad his eyes look. They lean into his touch, the way they always have, drawn to him like a sunflower towards the light.
