watching analysis videos about the newer 3d pokemon games (main series) and getting really depressed because like all games series nowadays it's about quantity over quality now and i know everyone is saying the same thing it's just very sad to see coming from probably my all time favorite game series
#like b/w was around the time where i started to grow out of it a little bit#not like how gens 3 and 4 had a chokehold on my life#it wasn't as memorable to me but i still really enjoyed it and i've played through it numerous times#once xy came out i only managed to play through it once or maybe twice#and even then it was kind of a slog to get through#i was super excited for oras because hoenn is my fav region but even then i played it once and never again#i didn't even make it halfway through pkmn moon i really couldn't#it's just SO handholdy and linear i felt like i was just perpetually going through the tutorial#i realized that in the older games there's SO much more to discover and explore you just have to seek it out#now it's just going from one city to the next with nothing interesting in between#i couldn't tell you a single notable thing from pokemon moon i felt like there was nothing to do#besides go to the next gym challenge or whatever they were#ANYWAY rant over basically i am disappointed in the state of the real and virtual world !

Shadow Milk Cookie x GN! Reader. ONESHOT

Stars shone whimsically in the sky, and the cool night breeze could be felt all around you. A quiet melody was playing from the stage inside. Standing on a balcony was you, elegantly twirling and stepping from side to side. Though your eyes were closed, you did not need them. It was song that guided you, not your sight. It was peaceful, until somebody grabbed one of your hands and forcefully spun you around.
Your eyes shot open and you could see the person who interrupted your dance standing right infront of you. Cold hands, shades of blue, crazed eyes. It was none other than Shadow Milk Cookie.
"Is this what my doll has been up to? You know, I've been looking all over for you," he would say. One of his hands were on your waist while the other was holding your own. His eyes looked deep into your eyes, and a smile could be seen on the blue cookie's face.
"I thought you were still doing your show," you would explain to him.
"Dove, I finished a while ago. I wanted to meet up with you immediately after, but you hid away on this balcony! I was a little worried," informed Shadow Milk Cookie.
"Ah, sorry." You would smile wryly.
"What's that look for?" He'd snap, beginning to pout.
"It's just funny how much you want to be around me. I didn't think you liked me that much!"
Shadow Milk would roll his eyes.
"You are so silly. Why wouldn't I enjoy being around my favorite doll? You're perfect."
He would spin you around once again and start the steps to a familiar dance. The two of you would recite this dance all of the time, so the steps have already been memorized by heart.
It was the first dance that Shadow Milk did with you.
"Dancing again? You seem to like it a lot," He'd chime as he continued to spin around with you.
"That's because I do like it a lot. Though, it's much more enjoyable with you."
Shadow Milk Cookie couldn't help but snicker. "I know. I'm a joy to be around~"
He would dip you backwards and stare into your eyes.
"But, I suppose I also enjoy our time together."
He would bring you back up to your feet and continue the hypnotic dance.
How much time has past since you two first began dancing?
The two of you had no plans on stopping any time soon, but it just had to start raining. It wasn't even a light mist that would make things more romantic. It was heavy.
"Uhg, what a pain." Shadow Milk would say through a glare. He quickly lead both of you back indoors, but the damage had been done.
"I'm so sorry doll. If I knew there was going to be rain, I would have lead us inside earlier."
"It's fine, really. I was starting to get sleepy anyway," You'd explain to him.
His eyes would widen for a moment before he picked you up into his arms. You would have started shouting at him to let you go, but something else caught your attention first.
"Ack! Shadow Milk, you are freezing!"
He couldn't help but snicker.
"Sorry button, I run cold."
Shadow Milk Cookie would place a kiss on your forehead before starting to walk both of you to your shared room.
After the two of you changed into more dry clothing, Shadow Milk immediately wrapped you up in a bunch of blankets.
"I can't have my little doll getting sick now!" He'd say as he began to cuddle up next to you.
"You're still cold.." you would whine, trying to scoot away from him.
"I know that, silly! That's why you have to share the warmth..." He'd say back, holding you closer.
He was so annoying sometimes.
But of course you still loved him.

ft. Hirakawa Yuzuki Interview
(translation below)
Publication: December 12, 2023
Hirakawa Yuzuki plays the immovable Rita Kaniska (PapillonOhger) in the Super Sentai series "Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger." In her first appearance in this magazine, she says that while her first priority is to complete this role, there are also things she wants to accomplish next.
"When did you first become interested in acting?"
Hirakawa: It wasn't until I joined my agency that I first became interested. Until then, I was attending a business high school in Kumamoto, my hometown, and wanted to become either a tax accountant or a certified public accountant in the future. Around that time, I learned about the "LDH Presents THE GIRLS AUDITION" and I told my parents, "I should enter like it's a commemorative entrance exam.*" I won the Grand Prix in the vocal and dance category, not the acting category. However, it wasn't until I joined the agency that I tried singing, dancing and acting genuinely. So, it was abit embarrassing being told that I was the Grand Prix winner in the vocal and dance category. (*exams taken for schools you have little to no chance of getting into)
"Your first performance was in a stage play."
Hirakawa: It was in "Moryo no Hako" starring Tachibana Kenchi-san. The play was set where the curtains rise on a scene between me and another girl, and I was so nervous that it caused my stomach to hurt every day. Once I said a few words on stage, I was okay, but until then…I guess that once I got on stage, I felt like I had no choice. But, until I was offstage, my heart would be pounding like crazy.
"Did the fact that it was your first time on stage, and your first performance, have a big impact on you?"
Hirakawa: I always thought that if I broke the tempo of the play in the first scene, things would become out of sync. Even during rehearsals I was told, "The beginning is important. It determines the quality of the performance." That's kind of scary. It's a big responsibility. But, I think they trained me well on that stage.
"What did you find interesting about the stage?"
Hirakawa: I always took lessons with two or three people at most, so more than anything, I enjoyed creating a production together with many people. I also thought it was fun to be with my dependable and kind seniors all the way through the rehearsal period, and that they started to feel like friends.
"Were there any memorable words that were said to you during rehearsals for the play or on the stage itself?"
Hirakawa: They'd say "Just try things out for now." I think I tend to worry about what other people think of me. If I think that I have to do something, I focus on only that. Still, I was told, "Just give it your all for now. It'll be easy to control things from there." This is often said on the set of the Sentai series that I'm currently performing in.
"Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger, right?"
Hirakawa: Their keyword is "Immovable," and I do what I can within that context and to "just give things a try." If I really deviate from the character, the Director will get me back on track.
"Have you seen any other Sentai productions?"
Hirakawa: When I was little, I watched "Tom and Jerry." I haven't really watched the previous series. In middle and high school, I was either doing practice lessons, club activities, eating meals, or sleeping (laughs).
"What kind of programs do you currently watch?"
Hirakawa: Since I started working, because I have alot to learn, I've been watching various things. I've only been alive for 22 years, so there are many things that I don't know. I'm learning about these experiences as I watch these works. What have I been watching…I really can't remember (laughs).
"(laughs). How do you remember your lines?"
Hirakawa: One of my strong points is memorizing things, but I'm the type of person who (intentionally) forgets them immediately (laughs). When they say, "We're done filming this scene," I instantly forget about it. So, I don't really remember much. Recently however, at the recommendation of a co star in King-Ohger, I watched the entirety of "Heaven and Hell: 2 Psychos," starring Ayase Haruka-san.
"Were you interested in Ayase-san and Takahashi Issei-san's personality changing performances?"
Hirakawa: It was interesting to see how the two of them came to know each other through swapping bodies. I also experienced performing a body swap in King-Ohger. Before we filmed it, it was recommended to me with, "This show, it's got body swapping," so I learned alot from it.
"For Rita, did they have the keyword "Immovable" from the beginning?"
Hirakawa: Since my role is that of the International Chief Judge, the words "always neutral" were there from the audition stage. When I was reading the script before filming started, the Director said to me, "Rita is Immovable. That's it." It doesn't mean that they shouldn't move, but that they're unwavering. I was also told, "There may not be much movement, but it holds various meanings. Please be extremely immovable this year." That's why even now, I'm looking for things I can do within being "immovable."
"What did you do at the audition?"
Hirakawa: It was an audition for two roles, the yellow Hymeno Ran, and Rita, who I'm playing. I played both roles in the first round, but when I entered the second round, in terms of her character, I thought, "I'm definitely not Hymeno." From there, I went after Rita.
"Did you feel any similarity between Rita and yourself?"
Hirakawa: I thought I could create something close to the calm and dignified feeling of the character. I'm also pretty tall (166 cm, 5'5"), so I thought that the darker color would also suit me in terms of image. Actually, I had auditioned for the Sentai series and Kamen Rider series multiple times, but most of the roles I've gone for up until now have been for the heroine. So, I thought it wasn't really suited for it. But, with Rita I thought, "That's definitely me." I was pretty enthusiastic, thinking that if I missed out on Rita, I wouldn't get a role like this for about four or five years. And then, until I started working in this industry, I hated my voice.
"But it's an attractive voice, with a deep bassy tone."
Hirakawa: When I finished my first performance, many people said to me, "Your voice is really nice." Do the people around me see this voice as my weapon? Rita's words are very persuasive, or rather, have weight to them. I knew from the audition that I could use my voice in this role. However, since filming started in King-Ohger, I felt that my voice has become even lower. I was trying to make my voice sound deeper, but I ended up sounding lower than usual (laughs). I might be stuck with this low voice. Maybe it'll go back to normal once this role ends.
"What do you currently find interesting about performing?"
Hirakawa: Rita only keeps their left eye visible, right? However, there's a limit to what can be expressed with just the eyes. They're a character that doesn't move that much and doesn't laugh. Things like the inflection and intensity of my lines and how they're conveyed are different from how it's been in the past. Still, by experiencing this kind of role, I feel that the range of my expressions have expanded in slightly different directions. I think I'm lucky.
"What kind of roles would you like to play in the future?"
Hirakawa: In episode 38 of King-Ohger, I performed with my face showing, but I was embarrassed since it had been awhile. A year ago, I would've been able to do it normally, so first of all, I'd like to "reset" that (laughs). I don't have much of a funny role now, so I'd like to play more energetic roles. Also, I want to wear a uniform! I want to be in a school story. It doesn't matter if I'm a class president, a bully, or some kid with a depressed personality. I just want to wear a uniform (laughs). I definitely want to make that happen. But for now, my first priority is to finish King-Ohger. It's been a year, and I think the real battle afterwards will be letting go of Rita and returning to Hirakawa Yuzuki.

So, now that I finished the game (again) and the DLC chapters, I'm going to ramble about Crosscode C:
This game is really bizarre in the sense that, to be completely 100% honest, there isn't any particular part of the game that I think is all that mind-blowing. But all the individual elements (heh) of the game come together so well that the resulting product ends up being so much stronger and memorable than the sum of its parts.
Like, most indie games have one or several notable flaws or shortcomings (and understandably so) but this game is such an airtight experience that I can't help thinking about it and just being like "the how HECK is this game so GOOD?!"
...I am of course just getting started, I've got a wall of text of things I liked and thought her just "meh" under the 'keep reading' if you're interested (you've been warned (also spoilers obviously)):
The combat is definitely one of the strongest elements of the game and probably one of my personal favorites; its brutally difficult and sometimes feels like bullshit (and maybe there is one or two instances where it actually is just bullshit) but once you get the hang of it is really is flashy and satisfying and makes you feel badass to pull off. Plus its got the whole easy to learn, hard to master thing going on (like most of it is just charging SP and pressing the space bar, but knowing what moves to use and when def play into things).
I dunno how much of a hot take this is, but I really liked the puzzles in this game! I won't deny that they can sometimes drag on and interrupt the pacing of a temple, but personally I didn't mind. And just like the combat they're so well constructed that, while you'll spend minutes staring blankly reminded that you're a simple-minded creature and that the human mind wasn't made for this and you should be foraging for mushrooms in the woods and risking death over your next meal, they rarely feel impossible to solve without having to resort to a playthrough and are really satisfying to finally figure out (not to brag but there was exactly one puzzle in the game where I had to look up the solution and another where I did solve it on my own but then looked it up cause I thought I cheesed it by mistake). At first I wasn't a huge fan of how fast/precise you have to be for some puzzles on top of just finding out the solution in the first place, but after a while you kinda get used to it (and there is an option to slow things down which is really nice of the devs to include).
The story is... pretty alright. Yeah. I honestly don't have much to say about it. Bit of a slow pace, does the job, and has it's share of twists and emotional moments, but the narrative itself doesn't really do anything mind-blowing either so... you know. I definitely think it's the characters themselves that are memorable and prop up an otherwise average story. I mean every single one of them is just the hugest goober and even characters who initially seem forgettable or one-dimensional end up subverting your expectations and being super endearing/compelling/layered. Oh yeah, and Lea is a character that can only say like 10 words and SHE DESERVES THE WORLD I WOULD KILL FOR H-
Also, since the DLC is brand new to me I do wanna say that the ending was the tiniest bit underwhelming. Like you break into Vermillion Wasteland, fight a (surprisingly easy) boss, and that's... just it. Like 20 minutes top. I dunno, it feels like... something was missing. Still thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing and it is nice for the cast to get their happy ending (not quite as emotionally impactful as the base game's end imo, but still great and I'm glad they gave us more time with these dorks).
The platforming and navigating the overworld is tedious, which sucks a bit since that makes up a good chunk of the game. Idk man, having to scale different elevations of platforms is made frustrating by the fixed camera and the fact that the different "levels" of platforms aren't distinct from each other at all, so its easy to get duped by the perspective and jump to something you can't actually reach (yes you can use projectiles to check but it still isn't fun). Even without everything blending into each other visually, trying to find which obscure paths from four rooms ago will bring you to a chest just isn't all that enjoyable (some of the later maps like Sapphire Ridge were okay though, if only cause they started to have actually interesting puzzles to do). Basically they're just... there, between the actually fun stuff.
The trading system and farming for resources is confusing and kind of a chore. That's all I got.
Guess I'll touch on the art/music since I don't have too much to say about them. To be perfectly honest I'm not actually super crazy about the artstyle (blasphemy!), but I won't deny that the sprite-work and overall aesthetic are still super-well done, even if they aren't my personal taste (tl;dr I'm neutral on it). The soundtrack isn't something I'd put on my phone and listen to in the car, but like the art it's still well-made and perfectly suits the mood of/drives the emotional impact of the game, and there are still a handful of standout bangers (Lea's theme will live rent-free in my brain of course).
One last thing I'll say (that I mentioned before) is that as fun as this game is, it feels like a commitment to get through at times. Even when I first played it and had more free time, sometimes this game just felt "imposing" to pick back up after a break. Idk its hard to describe, but at least for me it was hard to play any other games alongside this (especially with my limited free time) which kinda sucked a bit.
To wrap things up, if I had to give the game an arbitrary number rating, I have to give Crosscode a 0/10 because its an indie game that doesn't have a fishing game (smh honestly how could they make such an obvious mistake 😔).

MY THOUGHTS - HALLOWEEN EVENT: SPECTRAL SOIREE
[Spoilers for a Twisted Halloween: Spectral Soiree under the cut!!]
OKAY, SO...
I started playing TWST around February/March time this year, so I haven't been able to play the first Halloween event from last year. Though I'm missing context from what happened in the previous event, I still enjoyed playing through the story. There were some good moments during the story and really seemed like the stakes were high, but I can't help feel that the ending diminished that and left me feeling unsure. The ending twistune was super cute! It was nice seeing everyone come together and I did find the ending humorous, but also wished it had leaned into those high stakes more and have actual consequences for it?
I haven't seen many people posting about this event. I thought there'd be more posts about it since it's a new second part - I didn't realise until much later on that the EN server already had the event later last year. Why would they re-release it in August?? It's such a strange choice, but I've seen many people theorize they did it to prepare for the Masquerade event, which might be next (I will scream if it is i have been SO EXCITED to play this!!) and will hopefully happen either in September or October. We will have to wait and see...
Anyways,
Short story short, I liked the event. The never-ending Halloween concept was super cool and the ghost fights and possessions really upped the stakes, making for a really suspenseful and fun story. There were several memorable moments throughout, one of my favourites being when Leona and Ace were trying to get Floyd to not touch a possible dangerous artifact and Ace questioning Leona's entire party boat story afterwards. I really loved the group pairings in the spectral realm, it was so nice to see the different dynamics and interactions they had with one another. Riddle, Ruggie and Ortho's conversations about adventures and puzzles were so sweet!
Speaking of puzzles and escape rooms...
I can't help but feel a little bit pissed off at Lilia and Malleus for putting them through all this. But then again, they didn't know what was going down behind the scenes and weren't informed of the ghost fights, so they're not entirely in the wrong for that.
But they DID make it incredibly cryptic in the worst way possible, to the point where even the teachers were concerned. Students vanishing into thin air, appearing to be kidnapped, is not something that'll get taken lightly. Especially when Lilia was yelling outside Silver's dorm, seemingly getting kidnapped too. That really must've fucked him up, especially since no-one else heard him scream. I felt so sorry for him - he genuinely thought his father was in danger the entire time, only to find out he was helping Malleus host a grand party for the ghosts. Obviously I'm glad they ended up being okay but MAN that wasn't fair on him. Sebek as well - they both thought Lilia and Malleus were in peril and were so genuinely distraught over the whole situation, it made me pretty annoyed that they didn't think through Silver and Sebek's reaction to something like this.
On the one hand, it was the ghosts' fault for fighting and possessing students. On the other hand, Malleus and Lilia are also to blame for the setup of the 'prank'. And on the other other hand it was also technically the students' fault for fighting the ghosts in the first place, but when you're put into such a seemingly dangerous and unpredictable situation, you go straight into fight or flight mode. I don't blame them for reacting the way they did.
That aside, I also kinda wished that the event was actually that dangerous, that Lilia and Malleus really WERE possessed. Imagine if there was an actual boss fight. An actual enemy. Someone who genuinely DID want an eternal Halloween, and needed the mirror shards to create a mirror portal to the human realm and take over even more bodies of the living. A ghost uprising if you will.
Imagine the teachers and the few survivors having to fight off an entire army of possessed students with a genuine intent to harm.
Imagine Malleus and Lilia being genuine threats and holding the prefect and Grim captive while everyone is trying to fight back without overblotting.
...That might be a little overkill.
BUT.
It would've been interesting to see actual consequences arise from this. I can especially imagine the prefect being really affected by the Spectral Realm.
They're already in a world that's not their own, so being thrown into that world's literal afterlife would really mess them up - whether emotionally or maybe even physically. Maybe they get really sick once they get back, maybe they were (unknowingly?) on the verge of disappearing permanently. Maybe that's why they were so worried about joining Malleus and Lilia. Because they were scared of what could happen to them, Grim not really understanding that. I love that Ace was so concerned about them both, he really is a great friend and I kinda wished these concerns were brought up a bit more.

Celebrating 15 years of Team Starkid with my (current) ranking of all of their shows and brief thoughts on them.
VHS Christmas Carol
I don't know how this became my favorite. The music is top tier, I've liked every version of it.
I was initially nervous to watch it because I wasn't sold on the original format, but it grew on me.
Also it's the second best adaptation of A Christmas Carol (the best is still the Muppet Christmas Carol)
2. A Very Potter Musical
My first ever Starkid show.
I watched it with my sister on our very old computer. I was in maybe 6th grade and had become quite obsessed with musicals and Harry Potter, so it perfectly combined my interests.
I truly was not totally sold on it just because 6th grade me was not prepared for all the cursing and the dirty jokes (6th grade me was a very different person) but Granger Danger fully hooked me
I still hold that Granger Danger is the best Starkid song, i do not care that it gets (over)played all the time. I also love that they keep having to come up with new ways to perform it (my favorite/the best being the LeakyCon one with Meredith directing the rest of the cast who only half-remember it)
Definitely ranks high just because it was the first and nostalgically I love it so much
3. Trail to Oregon
It's so fun as a concept and one of the few shows I like that really uses audience participation and makes it work.
Joey credited as "Everyone Else" and every shot with Clark in the background
I like the smaller cast, it's such a feat to run a show like that with 6 cast members
4. A Very Potter Sequel
it's ranked 4th but it probably actually ties with Trail to Oregon
I watched it after AVPM (so my second starkid show) and it did not disappoint
I do think it is stronger than AVMP for most of it

5. Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier
Definitely my favorite parody they've done. There's a great video that breaks down why it works so well: they've nailed the style.
Around the same time I first watched Twisted was also around my Wicked phase so that helped a lot.
Dylan Saunders knocks out it out of the park as Ja'far, he puts so much depth into the role. It works as an actor and for the part and helps a lot of the humor since Ja'far is the straight man of the show.
The entire soundtrack slaps including the bonus demos
6. Nerdy Prudes Must Die
The songs are great
The production value on their shows has gone up exponentially, and they make good use of it. The effects are so so good
I've never been more uncomfortable as when the words "dirty girl soup" were first said
7. Black Friday
probably tied with NPMD but
I think plot-wise it is better than NPMD, and overall so are the songs. I think maybe the live version that's on youtube is what makes it slightly below NPMD because everyone was sick so it sounds very different between the live and recorded.

my previous exposure to Batman at this point had been the 60s Adam West TV show so really this is like the spiritual successor of that, so honestly i was totally unfazed by the number of puns, I just assumed that was how Batman media was

10. The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals

So does that mean you enjoyed Pokemon Violet? And do you play those games often or this was a one-off?
Did I Enjoy Pokemon Violet?
If we're going on a yes/no decision here: no. I enjoyed it enough to finish the game, and it's more or less what I'd expect out of a pokemon game, but it was thoroughly alright.
It somehow feels even easier than the last gen (which is impressive) both in how to gain experience as well as the puzzles throughout the game, the storyline was more memorable than some but ultimately lulzy, and while the open world was neat and the scenery was nice I'm not really an open world game person and it was a little buggy (not as much as before all the patches but it was noticeable from time to time).
As it is, the open world thing in Scarlet and Violet sort of worked but also kind of didn't. To make the gyms make sense, you still pretty much had expected places to go where you'd get scared off by either obstacles you can't get past without beating a titan or pokemon that can kill you. So, you almost had 'routes' anyway and certainly an expected order to things. Not being attacked by rattatata all the time was nice, but at the same time, you had pokemon running at you when all you wanted to do was stand there. Having the three storylines simultaneously (the gyms, the big mystery of the game, the Team Rocket thing) sort of worked but also to me made each of them kind of flatter so as to accommodate them not being connected in any way.
Not sure why Nemona wants to battle you all the time, guess she has issues with her parents. Sure, I guess someone should beat up those Team Star nerds so they actually go back to school, but doesn't really feel all that important and shouldn't this be your job Mr. Principal? Sorry about your dog, Arvan.
I also wasn't really a fan of the gimmick of the game: the raid battles or terralyzing (whatever it's called). Now, it's less dumb than some of the other gimmicks we've seen, but I wasn't even a fan of mega evolution so in general I don't love the trend of having a new gimmick every game and going "it's different! You love it!" when I don't.
That said, the pokemon games aren't made for me, they're made for eight-year-olds where this is one of their first serious games (where they're expected to be able to read/problem solve/etc.) and they enjoy a nice story about uh friendship. While I enjoy the harder earlier gen games more (which also had slightly more edge in their stories) this clearly is the direction they want the game to go where it's much more accessible.
It was better than some of the other recent releases (I didn't finish Sword/Shield because I got bored, and Sun/Moon I didn't even get as far as that) but to me it's still far below the quality of Gen 1-3 (where for me it's all been downhill since then).
I do find the story though in this one (from your task of beating up bullied children to Arvan's dead robot dad being the worst) hilarious. But I'm not sure if that makes a good game, it just made me laugh.

Yup, started Pokemon Yellow, somehow been here ever since. That said, each time a new one comes out I ask myself if I'm really going to get it since my enjoyment has gone progressively downhill each game, but so far I've kept doing it.

A Comprehensive List of my Thoughts on Elemental (STILL WITH SPOILERS!)
So here's the rundown I promised of my feelings toward Elemental
SPOILERS BELOW PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
The Good
The music--I found it memorable and unique; the main theme had soft vocalizations that felt almost ethereal, like it was an ancient hymn. I also found the song that played during the montage of Ember and Wade's dates catchy and fun. It was pretty great soundtrack imho.
The design of the world--I really loved how they creators took into account how all these different elements would move and interact in the city. It made the setting feel, for lack of a better term, more "real" to me. It also set up some of Ember's conflict as a Fire element living in a city that wasn't made with her people in mind.
The designs of (most of*) the characters--for the most part, the characters looked unique and, even better, they looked like average people (for lack of a better term) to me; call me a sap or whatever, but I've always preferred characters that have all the "flaws" of average folks than the ones that look like some iteration of "perfect," they just feel more relatable to me I guess. I also found it fun to see how design features such as "hair" were incorporated in the characters and how those same features varied between the elements. If there's one thing I can consistantly praise Pixar for it's for not being afraid to play around with design.
The animation---I loved how the characters moved and interacted in the world. The felt like living things and I appreciated that.
Wade and Ember are adults implied to be in their mid-to-late 20s--This is probably just a me thing, but I find it nice when I see shows where the protagonists aren't adolescents or barely-18 young adults going through some sort of coming-of-age scenario; there's nothing wrong with those kinds of stories of course, I just find them a bit boring and over-done myself. That and whenever I see films like that it always feels like they're insinuating that people over XYZ age can't be protagonists, so I tend to avoid them these days. On a related note, here are some other reasons why I like that Ember and Wade are adults: a) They both still live with their parents but neither of them is shamed or mocked for it--I've seen waaaay too many "comedies" that pick fun at the "25-year-old-living-in-their-mom's-basement" so I found it nice to not have to sit through that kind of "joke" again, b) Neither of them have got their lives "figured out" yet--Wade's gone through multiple jobs, and Ember's just begun to understand what she actually wants for her life--as someone who's gone through multiple jobs, earned 2 bachelor's degrees and is in the process of getting a master’s, and is still trying to make sense of their life, I found their struggles extremely relatable; it's nice to see adult protagonists be allowed to struggle with figuring out who they are and what they want to be, c) They're allowed to have fun and goof off--in a lot of films I've seen, the adult characters are always depicted as being so serious and "boring" it's nice to see adult characters actually have fun and enjoy life.
Ember' relationship with her parents, specifically her father--I found the interactions they had very sweet and moving; it made Ember's conflict between choosing to take over her father's shop or pursue her romance with Wade all the more relatable, imo.
How Ember and Wade's romance developed--it wasn't a love-at-first-sight kind of thing; they actually had to spend time interacting and getting to know each other before they fell in love--and most importantly, they showed us on the actual screen how/when they started to fall for each other. They went on dates, opened up to each other, fought with each other, etc--all the things that normal relationships have; while sure, there's still an aspect of "forbidden romance" to their relationship, it's more subtle and in the background than the trailers implied it would be. It also doesn't end with marriage and kids--they leave together for Ember’s internship and it’s implied that they’ve moved in together but that’s all; idk I thought it was nice that they could just be a couple.
The Bad
1. The blink-and-miss representation LGBTQ+ representation--I've gotten reeeeeeaaaally tired of how LGBTQ+ characters are treated in films; to clarify, there's a scene where Wade introduces Ember to his family and he introduces her to his youngest sibling, Lake (who is described as being nonbinary in supplemental materials) and her/them girlfriend, Ghibli. Lake's identity as nonbinary is a bit ambiguous in the film (Wade does refer to them as his youngest sibling, but that's all we get--without the tie-in material it's to mistake them for being WLW). Further, between them Lake and Ghibli have at most 2-3 lines in the entire movie--like I appreciate that us LGBTQ+ are being recognized and put in films, but I'm tired of all our rep always being the side characters that hold no weight in the story; I think they can start making shows with LGBTQ+ leads now, thank you.
2. Wade's fake death--I'm not a fan of having characters (and the audience) go through huge, life-changing events only to have the events "fixed" and everything be all hunky-dory again--imo, it's a cheap trick to manipulate the audiences' emotions at best, and at worst, it's a disrespectful act that not-to subtly implies that the audience "can't handle" seeing the characters go through heavy stuff. I'm a firm believer that if you're going to have your characters go through something as serious as having one die on screen you need to commit to it--you need to take it seriously, pulling a 180 and undoing all that development is cliche to the point of annoyance. Now, I'm not saying I wanted Wade to die, I'm not even saying that I think he should have stayed dead--what I'm saying is that I don't think there should have ever been a "death" scene in the film at all--there are plenty of other ways they could have had Ember realize her feelings for Wade/be honest with her father.
Mixed Feelings Section
1. Ember and Wade's designs*--it's not that they're terrible or anything, but they are a bit generic imo. In comparison to their family members and the background characters, they both have that "typical protagonist" look that I find a bit cliche
2. Wade's family being 'good' rich people who don't mind that Wade's in love with Ember vs Ember's father who spends most of the film being aggressively anti-water--I'm kind on the fence with this tbh; on the one hand, if both sides had been against Ember and Wade's relationship, I feel it would have put too much emphasis on the romance and taken away Ember's story as the child of immigrants, and it's not like Wade's family weren't bigoted at all--they threw plenty of micro-aggressions at Ember when she first met them; that being said I do have to side-eye how they made the ones more accepting of fire people Wade's rich, probably-descendents-of-the-founders-of-Element-City family and made the one most aggressively against water people Ember's immigrant-built-his-family-a-home-and-business-from-scratch father. Idk, it feels iffy to me.
3. Most of the Wade and Ember's interactions takes place within a week--As much as I felt that their romance was pretty well-paced, I can't deny that they still fell for each other very quickly--I get that the main plot point had set it up that they only had a week to fix the broken water-spill doors, but I don't know why it had to be a week; why couldn't it have been a couple of weeks or a month? It would have made a lot more sense both for the romance and the main plot, but I digress, I still found their relationship adorable.
4. The experiences of immigrants is homogenized--The culture of the fire people draws on a lot of different types of immigrants, the Irish, different Asiatic groups, maybe some Middle Eastern groups, etc--and while I appreciate that the story was about immigrants and experiences they share in common I also felt a bit iffy about taking all these different cultures and merging them together. I feel it would have been better they made the fire people's culture more of a unique entity than a combination of cultures.
Like I said before, I highly recommend this movie; it's cute and tugs at your heart-strings.

okay so apparently elvis wasn't a big fan of halloween right
like the man absolutely hated monster mash. he said it was "the dumbest song i've ever heard"
but hear me out
you know he's not a fan of the holiday, he always wants to skip to christmas. after all it's his favorite holiday
however you wanted your first halloween together to be memorable so you begged and begged for the two of you to have matching costumes of course he said no
eventually he gives in and the two of you dress up in a corny, matching costume
of course his friends laugh and poke fun at him for the costume to which he tells everyone to shut up and mind their own business
he ends up looking miserable in all the photos you take together but he's lowkey enjoying himself. although he can't tell if it's because you're smiling the entire time or if he actually likes the costume
he just wants to make you happy and if dressing up in silly costumes makes you happy then that's what he's gonna do.
you also forced him to decorate graceland for halloween. he goes all out for christmas, why can't you go all out for halloween?
pumpkin carving was not for him. he hated it. cleaning out the inside and getting his hands full of its pumpkin bits made him cringe, he's never doing that again.
he'll still help you carve it tho cause he loves you and doesn't want you to accidentally hurt yourself
he loved seeing how proud you looked once you placed them outside and looked at them from afar, the kids were going to love them
speaking of kids he really likes handing out candy and seeing everyone's different costumes. and elvis buys the good candy, not the bland boring stuff
he gets really excited when he sees them dressed up like him and even gives out autographs for the kids too

Fashion Dreamer, a review by a Style Boutique/Savvy/Girls Mode long time fan
I recently got the game and due to recent backlash of it I figured I'd write sort of a ramble review on it now that I've played through the initial tutorial phase and gotten to the meat of the game. I will most likely update my post once I got to the last Cocoon, so look out for that (or don't. Whichever floats your goat)
First a bit of a backstory. Back when I was a tiny little peach, I was gifted this game by my grandma called "Style Boutique" It was the first game on the NDS. I was immediately hooked. It had so many different brands of clothes to choose from, most of which I had memorized (And I still know them by heart if you asked me) not only that, but it also had a game function where if you finished the main story of entering and winning all the contests, then you could just keep running your own boutique, even on the Nintendo Network. You could sell your clothing to other players, and you could shop in other peoples stores too. I had MANY trips down to my local library just to connect to their wifi and download some clothes for my in game character to wear. I had many great memories with this game. Not only that, but I grew a fondness to the cast of characters. Namely, Grace, Dominic and Renée.
After a few years, Nintendo stopped supporting the game, and moved on to the newer title, Style Boutique 2. Which I didn't play at the time as my parents never got it for me. However, I played it a bit later when I had my own money, and to my dissapointment, the game wasn't the same as the first. This trend of the games getting worse kept going with the 3rd entry too. I played it for a while, but none of them managed to hook me as much as the first game did. I never quite understood why though.
Fast forward to now. Syn Sophia's newest title "Fashion Dreamer" is out on the switch. And I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I feel like the clothing selection is really cute and diverse, and the idea of the social media connections is also a really fun mechanic. I think I understand some of the critisisms. That the game loop gets boring after a while, and that they wished the clothing brands from Style Boutique came back. Personally though, I like this fresh new take on the fashion game genre. Something that Syn Sophia definately popularised. And although I can feel this getting boring, I really enjoy styling my character, and treating the game as nothing more than what it is meant to be: a digital paper doll.
Is it worth 50 euros though? Hm, It depends on what you think this game is worth. I do think it would be worth it once the DLCs hit. That said, many game companies have been doing this whole release an unfinished game spiel and I could write an entire book about how much I hate how nintendo treated animal crossing and splatoon just to prove this point but I think you can make your own conclusion there.
The game misses reoccurring characters like Grace, or at least a more tangible way to play. It doesn't need to be exactly like Style Boutique. Not in the slightest. It would be nice if we had at least something to make progress on besides the gameplay loop that we have going on right now.
I think this game deserves critisism. However, I'm also not going to pretend that this game is a pile of hot garbage. Because it's just not. It's a solid game which I really would reccomend you play if you love dressing little characters.
Verdict after the tutorial, not more than 5 hours in: the game is fun and refreshing. I like where Syn Sophia is going. However, I miss the first Style Boutique. (Which is perhaps nostalgia talking to me) 6.5/10

My Starfield journey so far
I need somewhere to put my thoughts because this game is life changing. Spoiler warning for the main quest.
I got Starfield in early access on the evening of August 31st 2023. Now it's September 28th 2023 and I have 9 days and 9 hours of playtime. I basically live in this game now. I thought I was "taking my time" finishing the main questline in about 80 hours (while doing side quests in between main quests) but then I crossed into the next universe and the game kept getting better and more expansive. I realized at some point around this time how rewarding the progression feels. There's a lot to learn and it's slow-going for figuring it all out but that's what makes it so satisfying when you do notice your progress. You feel like you're leveling up your real skills and knowledge of this world as your character does the same. Not only that, but replays are built into the lore so your character is as aware as you are. This makes the connection with your character even stronger over multiple playthroughs.
There were still so many quests and so much to do in that first universe I left behind. Now in this new universe, I'm taking even more time—trying to do every quest and see every planet. Playing this way really shows the breadth and depth of this universe and recontextualizes even my first playthrough as something more weighty. That's not to say I wasn't already deeply affected by my first playthrough, however. There was one moment, maybe 30 hours in that was particularly memorable. I was on one of the temple planets. The sun happened to be setting (or rising?) and I was surprised how beautiful it was. Then I looked to the sky behind me and saw a small planet (or moon?) in the distance. I was suddenly struck with a visceral sense of awe and wonder. I could feel in my body the real experience of being on a distant world in a massive universe. At that point, I had forgotten I was playing a game at all. It had crossed over from a mere piece of entertainment into the realm of a spiritual experience. Everything was vast and beautiful and I was part of it.
I tried romancing Sarah in my first playthrough but she tragically died. My heart sank when I saw her lying on the floor of The Lodge in a pool of her blood. Her death affected the rest of my playthrough. I felt more motivated to finish the main quest—particularly once I realized I could start over with her in another universe. I could have a chance to save her after all, in a way. But before finishing the main quest, I tried romancing Andreja after Sarah was gone. It never felt quite right though. Maybe because I'm just not that into Andreja or because I was still mourning Sarah's passing. Either way, it felt a bit icky going to another universe to see my dead almost-girlfriend (we never made it official) when my perfectly-alive girlfriend was in this one. Still, maybe it would work out between me and Andreja in yet another universe. There was also the Starborn Sarah that showed up in a particularly dramatic plot reveal of her as The Emissary. I was giddy to see her and there was something even more appealing about her with all her multiverse experience. But of course, she wasn't romanceable and was not quite the Sarah I had lost. All that said, I knew I was going to crossover eventually so I accelerated the timescale a bit toward the end of the main quest.
That was that. I built the Armillary, sided with The Emissary, "defeated" The Hunter (through persuasion), entered The Unity, and became Starborn. I feel nowhere near truly finishing this game or even slowing down. I've never played a game where new game+ felt as good and relevant as my first playthrough. In fact, it feels like a continuation of the same playthrough rather than a new starting point. It's like the more I play, the bigger the game gets because its full landscape becomes more and more into focus. I enjoy every feature of the game and it's packed full of them: quests, exploration, ground combat, space combat, ship building, character relationships, outpost building, Photo mode, and RPG progression/skills. It's amazing that all of these systems are fun and rewarding in their own way yet they exist within a singular video game.
I'm still in my second universe and taking my time for real this time. I've now finished dozens of new quests I missed or skipped the first time. I still haven't even finished one of the major faction quests (UC Vanguard). Ironically, I did prevent Sarah's death this time and even married her only to realize it was a mistake. I wasn't too keen on her judgmental attitude when I brought her to Akila (I'm a Freestar Collective native, after all) and Paradiso was a pretty bad choice of wedding locale. I realized I liked her more as a friend than a partner. There's a life lesson in there somewhere. I tried to reverse fate by going to a whole other universe to save my love but sometimes the dream is better than reality.
Overall, Starfield isn't just deep in its mechanics and replayability but in what it has to say about life and the universe. The end of the main quest finds you presented with the choice to start over but only through renunciation of your worldly possessions and relationships. This is a decidedly spiritual concept, as is Unity itself, which remains somewhat mysterious but can be interpreted as representing God, reincarnation, enlightenment, and/or nonduality ("oneness") beyond the more scientific multiversal viewpoint. These themes reframe everything in the game as part of a more meaningful cycle of existence and interdependence. They even reflect what you are doing in real life as you play--dying and reloading, replaying quests in new playthroughs, creating multiple characters, and progressing/growing as a player yet seemingly remaining your core self. In other words, there's a lot more here than just pew pew space shenanigans (though there's plenty of that as well) but you do have to be open to seeing it. All of this puts Starfield on equal ground with the best sci-fi offerings available. I can't wait to see what else I find.

Honestly I don't know!!!!
It's either Streetlife Serenade, An Innocent Man, The Bridge, or Storm Front. But the thing is every single one of those albums has multiple songs I would call personal favorites:
Streetlife Serenade: The Great Suburban Showdown, The Entertainer, Weekend Song
An Innocent Man: Easy Money, An Innocent Man, This Night, Keeping the Faith
The Bridge: A Matter of Trust, Modern Woman, Temptation, Code of Silence, Getting Closer
Storm Front: I Go to Extremes, Shameless, Leningrad
Yes I did list more than half of one of these albums as favorites. This is what I'm saying.
An Innocent Man is kind of the opposite of the others. I think it's a great album and he nails the concept of doing retro musical styles. I do think it works better taken as a whole, so it's kind of ironic that some of those songs became huge hits out of context. But some of those hits are just... they're good but they're a little played out for me. I still sing along to every word and I still screamed when he announced them in concert so I mean.
With the other three, I've always felt these albums are just not as cohesive as his strongest work. I'm beginning to be persuaded on Storm Front because I saw an interview where he talked about it depicting a storm building and then the last song being the calm after the storm and I was like okay that makes sense. Storm Front also has lower lows for me. I like That's Not Her style, it has some really fun lyrics (she wines and dines with Argentines and Kuwaitis...) but musically it doesn't quite fit into the groove for me. Storm Front, State of Grace, and When In Rome similarly kind of just... happen to me. I like When In Rome and feel called to defend it because he was so mean about it for absolutely no reason, but it's definitely not his best work. So there are just chunks of that album I'm not as into.
The Bridge similarly feels so disorganized to me. There are so many fantastic songs on this album but I don't know where any of them are going. I find myself asking "the bridge to where? or to what?" Ironically to me it just feels like the bridge between different stages of his career; it was the last album he did with Phil Ramone but I always consider it in a group with Storm Front and River of Dreams because it feels so removed from the previous five albums he did with Phil. It also has lower lows for me; I always think I don't like Running On Ice until I listen to it and I remember that I love the piano and some of the lyrics ("a cosmopolitan sophisticate of culture and intelligence" would be my blog title if it wasn't too many characters for mobile) but I think something about the sound just doesn't click for me. I don't really care for Baby Grand or Big Man On Mulberry Street too much. I love that he got to work with Ray Charles and I appreciate what an influence Ray was but I don't personally like that style of music as much. So again, just chunks of the album I don't enjoy as much.
Streetlife Serenade suffered greatly from being sort of a sophomore album. It was actually his third album, but it was his second with Columbia, and he was forced to put it out when he hadn't had enough time to write because he was doing the Piano Man tour and he did not have enough material and it shows. Two of the ten songs are instrumentals although incidentally Root Beer Rag is great. Again with the lows... every song on this album has something I love about it, but Streetlife Serenader, Los Angelenos, Roberta, and Last of the Big Time Spenders are musically kind of unmemorable to me (Roberta is memorable for other reasons). I know I compare Los Angelenos unfairly to Say Goodbye to Hollywood, though. And I absolutely love Souvenir, but it's so short, it feels like half a song. Ultimately I think Streetlife Serenade is probably his weakest album just because it's unfinished but I don't know if that makes it my least favorite.
Typing all of that out did not help me answer the question. I'm going to say An Innocent Man because it's a bold choice and it's one of the few I have not been putting on deliberately lately. An Innocent Man and Keeping the Faith were both live highlights for me though lol.

2022 BL ROUNDUP PART 2
Hey y'all, I've seen everyone doing their top 22, 20, 15, 10, and 5 BLs of the year and I didn't want to do a ranking! I just want to do a quick rundown of everything I watched and how I feel about it now! This is gonna be multiple posts! But I'll post them all at the same time.
BL Series I've watched from South Korea in 2022
Kissable Lips. I loved the series. Yea it had a sad ending, but it was the only Vampire BL I've ever seen. I think it suffered from the curse of S. Korea's standard BL runtime. If it were longer I think it would've been better and more fleshed out. Jiwoong and Seobin had excellent chemistry and even though the ending was sad, I enjoyed the overall tone of the series. True love turned out to be very selfless and partially self destructing.
Semantic Error. Came out at the beginning of the year and still one of the highest ranking Korean BLs of 2022. It was the standard opposites-attract-enemies-to-lovers trope main pairing but it didn't feel cliche. The digital components added to the aesthetics made it feel almost interactive and I loved all the characters. Male kpop idols play both leads and their chemistry was INSANE! They've been winning awards for the series all year.
First Love Again. It was an interesting take on soulmates and reincarnation. 300 years of waiting for your girl to return only for her to be born male and also let's throw in a sister that has the same face of the woman from the past. I think overall I enjoyed the series, the mains did have great chemistry, but one of them was ridiculously mean to the other while he figured out his crisis of suddenly being in love with a man.
Blueming. 10/10. The best Korean BL I've watched all year. It was a coming of age type of story. It was one of the few series I've seen that actually highlights the major the kids were studying in uni. The mains had superb chemistry and the communication between them felt refreshing. It wasn't over the top, it was just a very lowkey and laid back romance.
Cherry Blossoms After Winter. It was really interesting. The bullying in the series was insane and made me feel very violent towards high school kids. There was also the hint of a step-brother sort of vibe but it was clear that the mains never felt like "brothers" even though they were raised together in the same household. It was just a very interesting take on how childhood trauma can manifest into adulthood and also how bad bullying can get for people and also how to approach being in love with someone you've known your entire life.
Ocean Likes Me. It was cute. Not the best and not the worst. Holland made his debut with the series and I really loved his snappy and flamboyant character. I think he and Gi Chan had great chemistry, but the plot was a little 'meh'. I think if the series were longer it would've been better and more memorable.
To My Star 2. The reviews have been mixed for this series and I get it, but I personally enjoyed it. The angst was very angsty. They had me crying. It was a great depiction of how people act after they breakup but are still very much in love with each other. One likes to put distance between them and the other refuses to go away without a real explanation. I think people thought Ji Woo's character was ruined, but I think the way he acted was very much in character. I think people were expecting honeymoon but we got heartbreak lol. I heard a s3 has been discussed.
Roommates of Poongduck 304. Jiwoong and Seobin's 2nd chance at main leads together. It was completely different from their first series. The chemistry was still amazing, but this series was more comedy and conflict than anything else. Highkey didn't even care about the plot (it was a good plot though), I was vibing on chemistry alone with this series. Jiwoong and Seobin are just magical together.

OH, DISMEMBERMENT PLAN...
what an insane band name, when I first started listening to them, I had no idea what "to dismember" meant, I only looked up the dictionary definition after seeing people's reactions such as "????????" and "the WHAT plan????!!!!", when they had been recommended the band. It happens. I feel it belongs to the experience of people who aren't native speakers of English, yet they've grown up surrounded by music in the language. Music comes first, lyrics second, meaning... third??
I still have a clear memory of ten-year-old me memorizing all the lyrics to my favorite Linkin Park songs. While I recognized some of the words I was singing along to, I wasn't able to decipher their meanings and wasn't even trying to. That band was my first real obsession. Hyperfixation, perhaps. They were the music I would play when I was given access to youtube on the family computer. Turns out I didn't get to grow up to be the person who gets the aux. In my teenage years I went through so many more music phases, a journey I'd love to discover in better detail across many more posts in the future. There was my metal phase with a milion subphases within it (since there is probably more subgenres than bands), then a prog and alt rock phase, then in the summer of 2019 a friend introduced me — 16 year old, coming to terms with their newly discovered queer identity — to car seat headrest, which swept me like an ocean wave and irreversibly changed my music taste and also me as a person.
The world of indie music opened itself to me, so many new artists, bands, but more importantly specific albums by those artists, dc snuff film/waste yrself, the glow pt. 2, itaots, souvlaki... all the classics, but none of them had a hold on me as strong as Twin Fantasy by CSH, Come In by Weatherday, Funeral by Arcade Fire, YWNKW by Sweet Trip, and – well, my Elliott Smith obsession was yet to come but we can count XO in there too. But in the midst of all these albums, you could find Emergency & I, a record that I enjoyed when I first listened to it, I didn't really think much of it, but I really felt the need to return to it. And then again and again, I best enjoyed the fun, most standard songs, What Do You Want Me To Say and Gyroscope, I loved hearing the small weird details in them, the time signatures, the mindblowing drumming... the album didn't mean a lot to me at first. I was still 17 when I first heard it, I needed to grow into it.
A year later I got into a long distance relationship, I started university, I moved from my small town to a big city. And it sucked, I wasn't really able to make any friends, I couldn't handle the pressure of schoolwork, my depression got much worse, my adhd meds weren't really doing anything, at some point I stopped leaving my dorm room and I ended up sinking into a deep metaphorical pit and eventually dropping out after four months. Fun stuff. The reason why I am mentioning all this is that there is a strong correlation between my music journey and my life journey. And Emergency & I is the college age young adult album. There is so much loneliness packed into it but it's not exactly sad or depressing. This album can be kind of laid back, or extremely anxious, it can be very nihilistic and dystopian, it can be very fun or it can completely rip your heart out, it can make you think "yeah I do know these people", it can be very silly and the next second it throws the most poetic and beautiful words at you that fill your heart and head with an abundance of images and feelings. And it gets better the more you grow into it and the more you relate to it, and even if you don't relate to everything, the songwriting and storytelling is so perfect and emotionally intense that it will rip its claws into you and never let you go.
In the last year and a half I've managed to get myself into a much better place in terms of mental health and academic success. I started studying again, this time a subject I love (languages), I found some amazing friends, the long distance relationship has turned into a less distance relationship and we see each other relatively often and things are going great and I finally realized that Emergency & I is the best album ever made. Because even when everything is going great, maintaining all those parts of my life is not easy at all and this album knows it too well. Okay, maybe it is not the best album ever made, but it is the best album for me. At this stage of my life.
But do I claim that after over three years, I understand the meaning of this album perfectly? Not really. Well, I bet not even Travis Morrison does, because how could he have predicted the intensity of the feelings I go through each time I listen to the album, or the impossible to fill void that appears inside of my chest after the final track ends, making me long for more of those feelings but also making me sad becuase there is nothing else quite like E&I...
And, you know, maybe I was wrong and the song meaning does not come third. Maybe the first time you listen to a song, it already means something to you. Maybe that is why I was drawn back to the album. Each time I listen to it I am a different person. And the songs mean different things. Of course I understand more of the song lyrics the more I read them and listen to them and analyze them but words can only go so far in terms of meaning. The band created the songs with certain ideas in their heads but those ideas have been transformed so many times, from their minds through their instruments, on paper, to the recordings, the masters, and then to the ears and minds of thousands of people, through different mediums, through different means of discovery. Songs mean different things to you when a friend recommends them to you or when you find them on your own, even before you listen to them. And I am not even mentioning live performances where your body vibrates with the music and the room and the songs are changed ever so slightly each time. Nobody experiences music the same way.
And I could talk for hours about what exactly the album means to me but I cannot and also do not want to fit all of it in one post. I want to dedicate a separate post to each of the songs on this album, which is one of the things my blog is going to be about, but I don't want to limit myself to being only a dismemberment plan fan, I want to document my music journey here, both by looking into the past and sharing my current favorites (for example get ready for a ton of weatherday posting this year). This post is just me speaking random sentences into the void, to prepare everyone for all of my future long posts, which are also going to be me ranting into the void, hoping things will end up making at least some sense to at least one of you (assuming somebody will read this, but I know this place is full of nerds just as obsessed with things as me (or even more, actually) so my chances aren't a complete zero).

Umineko: Episode 2 // Review & Thoughts
Heey it's Episode 2! I've just finished Episode 4, so I might as well catch up on these.

P.S.: There are broken youtube previews due to my blog's theme, so they won't look as good, but I refuse not to show them.
If Episode 1 was crazy enough, this episode just gets crazier—and so on. I don't remember much of the details from this, but I do remember it focusing more on Shannon and Rosa this time.
There's even some cool foreshadowing I understand now after finishing Episode 4! I will only reference it in my EP4 review, though.
By the way, unlike EP1, I won't go into as much detail since we're all aware of who the characters are.
Let us begin!
PLOT
Different deaths, different order, different victims!
We get to know more about Shannon and her inner desires for a successful romantic relationship with George. They are very cute together, though I found the whole aquarium date a bit slow.
THEY SAID THE THING!!!
Hahaha, it's fun to see how this sentence can apply to so many different situations, meaning different things.
CHARACTERS
Ushiromiya Battler
This might be the most emotionally brutal episode to him. Well, to an extent they all are, but the way Beatrice made him submit so hard is something else.
This was a fantastic episode for femdom enjoyers such as myself kekw
Ushiromiya Eva
Eva plays a huge role in Shannon's view of herself (and her role in George's life) as an obstacle.
I don't have much to add—she'll have her time next episode.
Ushiromiya Jessica
I almost forgot this was the episode we discover Jessica has a crush on Kanon. I'm not going to lie, I hate this ship. Well, hate is a strong word, but I don't really feel any chemistry and it feels forced, so it's kinda funny how Kanon keeps rejecting her.
Ushiromiya Rosa
Her relationship with Maria is a continuous focus over the entire arc, but this episode focused a lot on how her relationship with her family shaped her into this well-meaning but abusive parent.
This dynamic will be better developed in Episode 4, but I really enjoyed these scenes, even if they hurt a lot to read through.
Rosa is the leader this time. It's fun how our reaction towards her with a gun is completely different from EP1, when Natsuhi was the surviving parent.
It's the eyes, I tell you. They have malice in them o_o"
Though I'll admit, the last scene with her and Maria was hella badass, and it was nice to see her trying to save her at all costs, even if she was a bit greedy as well.
Her Tea Party torture scene was... man, that was tough to read.
Shannon
Shannon had huge character development throughout this entire episode and I loved it. But to be completely honest, I can't remember a lot except for Rosa's paranoia.
The Stakes
Ooooh man, I wasn't expecting to see actual demons. I don't know why I wouldn't expect it, but I just didn't. I liked Asmodeus, she seems fun!

We get introduced to the red truths. I finally understand the memes!!
I love how Ryukishi is always introducing new concepts even within the game. It keeps things fresh, especially considering how long this game is.
Final Thoughts
Well, this was it for me! I think the next episodes might be more detailed, I just forgot a lot about this episode. Of the Question Arc, this may be the least memorable, unfortunately.
It was still a great episode, and I finished wanting more!
I'll give this a 7.5/10, aka 4 stars!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ORLANDO BLOOM!!!
Today's Man of the Day is ORLANDO BLOOM as he celebrates his 47th birthday! Happy birthday ! I really like this actor. First for his roles in films that I have watched since my childhood and adolescence. I'm young, as you know, so it wasn't that long ago. So I still remember the effect it had on me when I discovered it.
Orlando Bloom has always been sublime, his face is perfect as are his eyes, his nose, his mouth although a little too thin. I prefer him with hair with a mustache and a slight beard and medium-length hair, which reaches almost to the shoulders.
Don't you think that the actor Jonathan Bailey looks a bit like him?
My first memory of Orlando Bloom is in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN ☠️, and I immediately loved his character, his iconic couple with Elizabeth Swann, his charisma on screen, his virile and gentle beauty. Even if his character development is not without flaws, I love the character of William "Will" Turner.
Then there was his role of Prince Paris in TROY 👑, in which I was especially attracted by BRAD PITT in Achilles, as I had said and as the handsome actor JACOB ELORDI recently admitted.

In reality I liked the personality of Prince Paris, the physique of King Achilles, but the one who pleased me both physically and in terms of personality was Prince Hector, played by Eric Bana.

I didn't really watch or like the LORD OF THE RINGS and THE HOBBIT trilogies so his role as the elf Legolas didn't stand out to me.
On the other hand, I will never forget him in the role of Balian d'Ibelin, hero of the film KINGDOM OF HEAVEN 🏰. This film, of which I recently discovered the long version, is excellent. Balian of Ibelin is a real hero with great values and real motivations, he is endearing and we admire him, and Orlando Bloom is super sexy in it, because he is sometimes sexualized but always in a pleasant and not vulgar way.
Perhaps his most unexpected role was that of the Duke of Buckingham in THE THREE MUSKETEERS (2011) ⚔️. I plan to ask you soon what is your favorite version of the Duke of Buckingham in cinema and television in a game which will be dedicated to him, but I can already tell you that I love the interpretation given to this effeminate and elegant man and at the same time hyper virile, dominant, arrogant and proud.
I enjoyed his role in the series CARNIVAL ROW 🧚🏻♂️🧚🧚🏼♀️ but he was too dark in it and I like Orlando Bloom's smile too much to find him attractive when he's not smiling. 😁

Orlando Bloom a toujours été sublime, son visage est parfait ainsi que ses yeux, son nez, sa bouche quoique un peu trop fine. Je le préfère avec les cheveux avec une moustache et une légère barbe et les cheveux mi-longs, qui arrivent presque aux épaules. Vous ne trouvez pas que l'acteur Jonathan Bailey lui ressemble un peu ?
J'aime beaucoup cet acteur. D'abord pour ses rôles dans des films que je regarde depuis mon enfance et mon adolescence. Je suis jeune, comme vous le savez, donc ce n'était pas il y a si longtemps. Donc je me rappelle encore l'effet qu'il m'a fait lorsque je l'ai découvert.

Je n'ai pas vraiment regardé ni aimé les trilogies LE SEIGNEUR DES ANNEAUX et LE HOBBIT donc son rôle de l'elfe Legolas ne m'a pas marqué.
Par contre je ne l'oublierais jamais dans le rôle de Balian d'Ibelin, héros du film KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. Ce film, dont j'ai récemment découvert la version longue, est excellent. Balian est un véritable héros avec de belles valeurs et des vrais motivations, il est attachant et on l'admire, et Orlando Bloom est hyper sexy dedans, car il est parfois sexualisé mais toujours de manière agréable et pas vulgaire.
Son rôle le plus inattendu est peut-être celui du Duc de Buckingham dans LES TROIS MOUSQUETAIRES (2011) ⚔️. Je compte prochainement vous demander quel est votre version du Duc de Buckingham préféré au cinéma et à la télévision dans un jeu qui lui sera consacré, mais je peux déjà vous dire que j'adore l'interprétation qui est faite de cet homme efféminé et élégant et en même temps hyper viril, dominateur, arrogant et orgueilleux.
J'ai apprécié son rôle dans la série CARNIVAL ROW 🧚🏼♀️🧚🏻🧚🏼♂️mais il était trop sombre dedans et j'aime beaucoup trop le sourire de Orlando Bloom pour le trouver attirant quand il ne sourit pas. 😁

Inutile de dire que je trouve Orlando Bloom très attirant, que j'adorerais renifler ses cheveux, que lécher ses pieds serait un privilège et qu'avoir son cul sur mon visage serait un honneur.
