Told ya! : Jason Todd x fem!reader
Tumblr media
request: why was it so hard to believe she had a boyfriend? Why was her friend constantly teasing her about it? At least until he finally decided to show himself and said friend were forced to listen to some action......
Warnings: sugestive at the end, but nothing explicit, swearing, sexual tension and teasing.
Italics are flashbacks in the first part and sounds in the second.
****
„Let’s go out and party tonight” Leah was splayed on the couch on her back, facing the ceiling and  absentmindedly fiddling with her hair. Y/N could almost see the wheels in her friend’s brain turning as she was masterminding a plan. “Maybe you can finally meet someone to actually become your boyfriend.”
“Leah….” Y/N sighed deeply rubbing her forehead, leaning on the kitchen counter nearby “I told you already, many, many times, that…..”
“That you have a boyfriend” the other girl lift herself up, facing Y/N with a raised eyebrow, teasing smile and a twinkle in her eyes “Sure, I heard you loud and clear. A boy in another state? A Canadian? That one? The one I never get to see or meet?”
“Leah…..”
“Oh, come on, Y/N. You know you don’t have to lie to me, we are friends. No shame in being single. You just gotta you know…..” Leah shimmied her chest a bit “bite the bullet, baby. Get some action.” now she also buckled her hips a bit in a very suggestive gesture.
“STOP IT!” Y/N could feel her face becoming bright red and burning. God, Leah was her best friend, but she could also be a bit too …. emancipated, leaving Y/N flustered and ashamed.
“god, you’re so cute and innocent when it comes to talking about sex” Leah smiled brightly “like a little girl. I know, I know, it can be scary when you’re a virgin, but it is in fact quite pleasurable and ….”
“I’m done with you! I’m out! I …. I gotta get to work, so …. Have a good day or whatever, Leah.” Y/N threw her hands in the air in frustration over her friend’s behavior, grabbed a jacket and a backpack and left the apartment, banging the door.
“Don’t be mad at me!” Leah yelled after her “I only mean the best for you! I love you, Y/n!”
“Screw that.” Y/N thought, gritting her teeth. At this point she should already be used to Leah’s teasing. The girls knew each other since their high school years and she was always like this. Like two sides of the same coin – Leah always got the fire that pushed her forward, making her a shining star, always on the spotlight, while Y/N preferred staying in the background, shy and easily intimidated, not really wanting any attention.
But.
The matter of the fact was that she did have a boyfriend.
In the same state. In the same city, to be honest.
He was just ….. busy.
Busy with being a vigilante, fighting crimes at night and yeah, you guessed it , former Batman’s sidekick. With the breath of danger constantly on his neck, there were never a good time to bring him into contact with her friends. Not that any of them wanted that, but it gave Leah plenty of arguments to call Y/N a liar, a confabulator and storyteller. Damn it! That wouldn’t be so frustrating if it wasn’t for the fact that to up the teasing, Leah would constantly put Y/N into other man’s arms and the shy girl being himself had absolutely no idea how to oppose. Sometimes it resulted in a highly awkward situation.
***
“It was supposed to be a casual coffee!” Y/N hissed at her friend, dragging her away from the table in the café. “What the hell were you thinking?”
“Um, not what, but rather who” Leah corrected “Tom.”
“Why did you bring him here?!”
“To show you how fun boy’s company can be. We got together a couple weeks ago and he is just so good at making me feel good.”
“Leah!!!”
“Chill, sunshine. I’m just giving you a taste of what you can have. There’s no need to thank me. Now, can we please go back to the table? I don’t think I can last long without his hands on me….”
“I hate you…..” Y/N muttered, but putting on the brave face, smiled and approached the guy.
“Tommie…..” Leah sat as close to him as possible, almost on his lap “Please, forgive my friend. She has no real experience with boys and hence the shyness and strange behavior.”
“It’s all right, love. Not everyone is as …. bold as you. it’s actually quite cute so see a girl standing on the other side of the barricade. I heard a lot about you, Y/N.”
“You did?” Y/N’s eyes went wide at the simple thought of what words Leah could use to describe her.
“nothing wrong, I swear.” Tom raised his hands in defensive gesture and smiled sympathetically
“Just about giving you a little show of hugging and kissing and …..”
Oh my god…… Why?
***
“Jace?” the ringing of the phone woke her up in the very early morning(though some people would call it very late night). She swore she would stay up, knowing he was dealing with a  particularly hard patrol, but cramming for exams and burying herself in the textbooks did nothing to help her keep that promise.
“hi, baby…..” he mumbled with that hoarse voice and her sleepiness was gone in a second.
“Are you all right? Are you hurt?” she was already one leg out the door, forgetting being dressed only in pajama shorts and old T-shirt.
“I’m fine, princess. Just needed to hear your voice.”
“I miss you, Jason. Where are you?”
“I’m actually outside your  apartment.”
“What?” she let out a scream, but immediately put a hand over her mouth, not to wake Leah “Where?”
“Right here” a gentle tapping on the glass  got her attention and once she spun around she noticed Jason in his civilian clothes.
“Jay!” she rushed to open the window, longing to have him in his arms, wanting nothing more than to hold him, kiss him, touch him.
“What are you doing?” the door opened suddenly and showed Leah with disheveled hair, blurry eyes and print of the pillow on her cheek. “I thought I heard you talking to someone?” she yawned widely
“Yes.” Y/N smiled, her gaze flickering to her friend and then back to window, noting Jace already gone. “My boyfriend.” There were zero chances Leah would believe it in her current state, so Y/N did not risk any exposure to Jason’s presence and alter ego.
“Mhmmmmm.” Leah mumbled “that’s quite the imagination you have there, Y/N. You truly are desperate if you’re using Camila Cabello song as an excuse….”
“What?”
“He comes alive at midnight…..”
“I don’t….”
“damn it girl, you need to get laid.” Leah laughed a bit “I wouldn’t mind a bit of sounds coming out of your room, you know. Anyways, I’m going back to bed. And you should do too.” She closed the door and went to her room, leaving Y/N alone.
“Why didn’t you tell her that you do have a boyfriend?’
“JESUS CHRIST! JASON!”
“Sorry.”
“Are you trying to give me a heart attack?! I told her, she just doesn’t believe it. Not that I blame her. You are practically a ghost to everyone I know. “
‘I know it’s not ideal, but …..”
“I don’t care, Jace. That’s the whole point. I can handle the teasing as long as it keeps you safe. As long as you are only for me.”
“I am. But it’s not fair and you should not go through this shit only for my benefit.”
“Are you gonna kiss me or not?” she interrupted him, pouting and crossing her arms.
“Thought you’d never ask.”  He grinned and dragged her out to the emergency exit, enveloping her in his warmth, shielding from the cold night air.
****
She meant what she said that night. She did not mind the teasing. And that was why Y/N finally agreed to go out and party with Leah. Knowing exactly what to expect.
But.
She never planned getting the attention of one of the snippiest guy on the campus and spending the night running away from his sticky hands.
“Don’t hide from me, pretty one!” he yelled chasing after her, while Y/N was swinging between the partying people, desperately searching for any kind of shelter. That was until she bumped into someone’s chest and a pair of arms wrapped around her waist, making her squeal and struggle out of instinct.
“Relax, princess, it’s me.” Familiar voice made her look up, meeting with those angel green eyes.
“Jason….” she whispered, clinging to him, immediately feeling safe in his arms.
“Who is this fucker?” Y/N’s chaser came into view and eyed Jason with a stern expression “Are you bothering my girl?”
“Your girl?” Jason laughed viciously “You should really be careful with words. And who the fuck are you calling fucker?”
“Um…. I don’t know? You?”
“You want a fight?” Jason took a step forward leaving Y/N behind. None of the boys realized that the crowd already circled around watching the scene. Some people has already started recording. “Want me to remind you how many bones you have in your body? Cause I swear if you laid a finger on my girl, fuck, if you did as much as throw a glance her direction I will break each and every one of them.”
“Jason……” Y/N tugged at his jacket desperately “Let’s just go home. Please. There’s no need to make a scene.  I’m tired, please, Jace….”
“I got my eyes on you, you piece of shit.” Jason hissed, relenting to his girlfriend pleas “And if I ever hear you came near her.” He dragged a finger on his throat before turning around, grabbing Y/N’s hand and leading her out the party, straight to her apartment. They both forgot about Leah, but that girl knew well enough how to take care of herself. She came into the flat half an hour later, demanding explanation.
“Y/N!!!”
“Leah! Oh my god, I’m so sorry, I left you there!”
“Fuck that” Leah shook her head “who the hell is this guy?” she peeked behind Y/N’s shoulder and eyed Jason “hi, handsome. I’m Leah, Y/N;s roommate.”
“I know.” he mumbled, without any smile or friendly expression.
“You did?” Leah’s voice turned seductive “how?”
“My girlfriend mentioned the teasing you gave her.”
“Wait, girlfriend? You mean….. Y/N…. what?”
“Yeah. Apparently I’m very real. And honestly, quite pissed that everyone decided to torment my little princess.”
“Y/N…. I …. I ……” Leah mumbled, her face screaming shock and dumbfoundedness “I’m sorry… I ……”
“It’s all right, Leah” Y/N put a hand on her shoulder “I told you. Guess next time I say something you will believe me.”
“Yeah…. I …. I guess.”
“good.” Y/N smiled brightly “now if you excuse me, I would rather take care of my boyfriend once I have him. Or maybe…..” the girl shot Jason’s a glance and his eyes sparkled, blown with lust “let him care of me…..”
Neither Jason nor Y/N waited for Leah’s response, disappearing inside her room and closing the door tightly.
What was it that she once said?
I wouldn’t mind a bit of sounds coming out of your room?
***
“Jason…..” she moaned, the door doing nothing to muffle the sounds and Leah prayed to whatever god or other entity were up there to make them stop. “Yes, please, more…..”
Her whines and ragged breath was subdued for a moment. Maybe they were done for the night?”
“Yes! Yes! Right there! Give it to me!”
“Princess.’ Great, now his deep silky voice joined hers and embarrassingly, Leah started getting wet. God, this Jason guy was so hot and sexy and now she was forced to suffer, imagining things that she would never have. “you feel so good. Mhmmm” he groaned and she whined much louder “so tight.”
“Please, Jason….. Baby…. Please, I’m so close. So close. Don’t stop.” The bed cracked and Leah clearly heard the slap of skin on skin and the sound of banging the headboard. “Ah!!”
“Come for me, baby. Cum on my cock, I want to feel you.” judging by the sounds he thrusted into her more and more and more and ….
“JASON!!!” holy fuck, her scream must have been heard on the whole campus. Her orgasm definitely was intense, and that assumption was quickly proven by ragged breath and panting.
Hopefully, that was it. After all, Leah had her fair share of guys and none of them lasted more than one round…..
“got another one for me, princess?” he asked and Leah heard him loud and clear through the thin wall, not that he was keeping his voice quiet. It was like he wanted to be heard. Apparently Y/N nodded because they started going again. Moans, whimpers, whispers were going to keep Leah up all night.
***
“Good morning”a few hours later, Y/N full of energy came into the kitchen when Leah was currently eating breakfast. Hickeys and marks all over her body and Jason’s shirt draped all over her speaking for itself. “Did you sleep well?” she teased
“I….um…..”
“oh, you are just so cute and innocent when it comes to sex.” Y/N ginned watching her friend turning red, for once in her life the situation turning around on Y/N’s benefit.
“He….. he’s good isn’t he?”
“Oh, my dear friend…… Let me tell you all about it…..”
Now, finally, it was Y/N’s turn to tease. And Jason’s getting up and coming into view, shirtless showing his perfectly sculptured body was enough to make Leah shut up for quite some time.

PRISCILLA (2023)
~ my thoughts as an elvis fan
Tumblr media
(credit to @urpinkstargirl for the photo)
WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD:
so I saw it last night and I’ve been stewing on it ever since as I wanted to be 100% sure in myself before saying this publicly
**brace yourselves**
After just one viewing… I feel confident in saying that I preferred this film over “Elvis” 2022 🤧. It was just so immersive and so deeply intimate that I walked away from the theater feeling like I had just lived a life with Elvis, and experienced all the ugly and wonderful things that came with it
I am seeing it again tonight and possibly tomorrow just to recapture that feeling (which made me cry… three times…)
And although I’m not the biggest fan of Sofia Coppola, there is simply no denying that she has perfected showing “girlhood” in film, and making the most unique experiences, like being Marie Antoinette and being Priscilla Presley, somehow universal to everybody. I haven’t felt being “14” since I was 14, which was a whole 5 years ago, but WHEW… I most definitely felt 14 again when watching Priscilla navigate life in Germany
Also- we all saw how Austin Butler was completely cheated out of an Oscar and so I’m begging that we do not do that again. Give the Oscar to Cailee Spaeny (who played Priscilla) right now 😤 There are no words besides “immaculate” to describe her performance. Her future is so bright as an actress, I just cannot wait to follow her career + she just seems like the sweetest person ever??
And I know it might seem insane to say that I preferred “Priscilla” over “Elvis” and some of y’all might crucify me for that take but my preference solely comes down to the fact that I appreciate Priscilla’s perspective much more so than the Colonel’s, who to me, has always been the least interesting aspect of Elvis’ story
My biggest gripe with having the Colonel narrative/tell Elvis’ life in the 2022 film is the fact that it made the film feel rather impersonal to Elvis as I don’t think the script or the storytelling ever fully allowed for Austin Butler to explore what he was like beyond the stage
And personally speaking, I have a much deeper love for Elvis the person as opposed to Elvis the performer, and I think that “Priscilla” showed the human side of him far more than “Elvis” ever did (like y’all we actually get to hear and see him reading his philosophy books in this!!!)
But before I get into what was actually depicted in film, and all my praises, I thought I would briefly state what I thought could have been done better. Don’t get me wrong, this movie was beyond amazing, however, it was definitely not without its’ faults:
1. If you have seen a lot of reviewers talk negatively about the pacing in this film- just know that they are unfortunately, completely right in that assessment. The whole timeline of Germany felt literally five minutes long, and the 70s also, felt maybe 10 minutes long which just made both the beginning and end feel rather rushed. Also there were at least 5 scenes that just faded to black before going onto the next one, and some very abrupt cuts in scenes which felt a bit awkward
2. Because this is a biopic, and because it’s based on a real life, there is no climax like you would be accustomed to normally in a film and so I think that the average viewer, like someone who may not really care about Priscilla or Elvis, will probably walk away from the film feeling unsatisfied- possibly bored. I saw it with my mom and my sister, and my mom was asleep in like 45 minutes 😭. The movie definitely got repetitive at some points but I acknowledge the fact that life is repetitive, especially for Priscilla in the 60s while Elvis was off making movies
3. While Priscilla (played by Cailee Spaeny) aged realistically and seamlessly, Elvis (played by Jacob Elordi) was essentially the same person (physically) for 95% percent of the film. For some reason, his hair was already dyed black in the Germany scenes, although we know it was brown at that time, and so there was no real transformation for him until Lisa Marie is born. The height of the actor was definitely jarring at first but eventually I got used to it…however…I damn near busted out laughing when they showed him in the Comeback special outfit 💀 His performance was nothing but incredible (ESPECIALLY THE VOICE) and so I learned to get over the physical disparities rather quickly
4. The ending of this film, particularly the song, was overwhelmingly sad and impactful but I was really disappointed that we didn’t get to see Priscilla’s and Elvis’ relationship after the divorce. This film ends with Priscilla leaving Graceland, starting her “new life”, which didn’t make much sense to me considering this movie was adapted from her book, which very much explores that part of her life, especially with Elvis
I would have really love to seen moments like this from Priscilla’s perspective ⬇️
Tumblr media
excerpt from “Priscilla, Elvis and me” (avoid this book)
5. NO CIRCLE G RANCH!!! It is borderline criminal to make a film about Priscilla and Elvis and to not include their time spent at Circle G ranch ** which Priscilla has always said were their happiest times together **. I assume that this was likely an issue because of the budget and the fact that they only had 30 days to film but god… I would have really appreciated some of the domestic bliss that Priscilla and Elvis shared while living in the trailer on the ranch. There were many happy moments/sequences (y’all are going to die when you see the rollerblading/go cart scenes) in this movie, but I think their gradual separation/withdrawal from one another (post marriage) would have hit harder if we saw how happy they were together during their ranch phase
6. For those who have read “Elvis and Me”, we all know about the famed LSD scene that takes place and unfortunately, Coppola heavily missed the mark on it. We don’t see Lamar Fike making out with a tree, we don’t see Jerry Schilling in a closet- instead we see Priscilla and Elvis just kind of rolling around, laughing amongst themselves while the room around them turns different colors
There were definitely many key moments/stories like that missing from the film, and I honestly wish that the movie was an hour longer so that we could have seen the book more fully fleshed out
Lastly, here’s just a general synopsis of the scenes in Germany… I was going to do the whole movie but I don’t have the stamina to type it all out 😭. If y’all want to know something specific please feel free to comment below and I will let you know <3!!
After the beginning credits are shown, the film starts with Currie Grant (who was renamed as Terry West) approaching Priscilla in a diner, inviting her to a party at Elvis’ house. After talking with her parents and assuring them that Priscilla will be looked after by him and his wife, it cuts to her in the back of a car, on her way to meet Elvis. The scene is exactly like how it is in the book, Elvis asks her how old she is, he remarks that she is “just a baby” and so on- Elvis then plays “a Whole lotta shakin” at the piano and that is one of three musical performances we see from him
Priscilla is then re-invited by Currie aka Terry via Elvis to comeback to the house again. Elvis invites Priscilla up to his room, she looks around and sees letters from Anita Wood, and a poster of Bridgette Bardot just like in the book. After Elvis talks about Gladys and how he is still reeling over her death, and how lonely he has felt since then, they share their first kiss to the song “Crimson and Clovers”
There are some scenes of Priscilla at school and some scenes of her sort of convincing her parents to let her continue to see Elvis. And they do agree, but just like in the book, they want to meet him first. Elvis is questioned by Priscilla’s father on why he wants to be with her to which Elvis replies that she is very mature for her age and that he likes talking to her since she is from home aka the United States. He then assures Priscilla’s father that she will be taken care of. After that we see them going to the movies where Elvis expresses how much he wants to be a serious actor, and then they share another kiss on the car ride home. It then cuts to Christmas time where we see Elvis giving Priscilla a watch and then BOOM- Elvis and her are on the way to the airport where they say their final goodbyes as he leaves for the United States
The film really does follow closely to the book (at least from 59’ when they meet to 69’- again the 70s were really rushed) and so I really recommended to read that prior to watching the movie
As for the more sensitive scenes-
There is no explicit sex, no graphic nudity, and no scene where Elvis forces himself upon Priscilla. He does say “this is how a real man makes love to his woman” but all he does is kiss her before she pushes him off. There is a rather long “polaroid-taking” sequence where it shows all the outfits that Elvis would Priscilla dress up in but other than that, we only see Elvis and Priscilla make out
And it did show when Elvis accidentally hit Priscilla in the eye during the pillow fight scene in her book, along with the scene of him throwing a chair in her general direction after she expressed she didn’t like a demo of one his songs, and the scene where he grabs all her clothes from the closet and tells her that she should go visit her parents. I don’t think that the scenes made Elvis look abusive: Coppola was surprisingly nuanced in showing that he had reasons for his sometimes bad temperament i.e the pills he took along with the fact that he was frustrated with his film career
It also shows Elvis’ infidelities but really only through movie magazines that Priscilla sees. So it’s never explicitly shown, I would say it’s more hinted at than anything
And there are two scenes of Priscilla with Mike Stone but again, nothing that is explicitly shown, it’s just hinted at
Finally, to finish this up, this is what I wrote on my Instagram account which I very much stand by ⬇️
Tumblr media
Just please give this movie a chance y’all, it was so beautiful and so sensitively done… I cannot wait to watch it again <3

landoscar vore kink?!?!?!!!!!!?? god oscar could make him fall apart just by talking about the idea huh, telling him how he’s just so tiny, but it’s okay cause oscar will keep him safe and warm and protected in there ugh lando would cry
sorry your asterisk on the foot kink director’s notes smacked me in the face and now i can’t stop thinking about it i love your brain sm
well, anon, the great tradition of landoscar inspiring me to write kinks i previously had only a passing interest in continues.
context: i mentioned in this post that i think lando is the perfect combination of chronically online, obsesed with being tiny and stimulation-seeking to have a vore kink.
cw for non-violent descriptions of vore fantasy, macrophilia, crying, incredibly mushy romantic goop.
“I’ve been doing some research,” Oscar says, and sits down in Lando’s big, comfortable desk chair. “About your thing that you like.”
He pats his thighs, and Lando levels him with a deeply suspicious look before he sits down, primly, perched on Oscar’s knees like he’s readying himself to jump right back up again.
“You think it’s weird,” Lando says accusingly to the darkened computer screen in front of him, not to Oscar.
Oscar tugs him back, sinking into the soft leather cushioning. “Lando Norris in ‘into weird shit’ shocker.”
Lando makes a sulky sound but finally deigns to lean back against him. Oscar spreads his legs a bit so Lando’s settled between them, Oscar’s thighs either side of his, arms snaking around his waist. He leans in to mouth at the back of Lando’s neck briefly before he speaks again, gratified by the little shiver that ripples down Lando’s spine.
“You wanna tell me about it?” he murmurs against the spit-slick skin. “How you’d want me to do it?”
He hears Lando’s breath hitch, feels him stiffen as he tries to work out whether Oscar’s taking the piss or not. Oscar keeps his breathing slow and deliberate, his body heavy.
Lando swallows audibly. “I’d – not, like, being ripped apart. Just. Taken in.”
Oscar hums, rubs Lando’s obliques. He’d thought Lando was just watching regular old hentai when he’d walked in on him with his hand down his pants a couple of weeks ago – on his laptop, not even on his phone like a normal person. Oscar had just about had enough time to realise that the girl on-screen was swallowing a tiny, wriggling man, her belly distending, before Lando had noticed him and shrieked and slapped his laptop shut.
“Huh,” had been the only thing Oscar could think to say, eyes caught in a loop between Lando’s bright red face, the closed laptop and his tented jeans.
Now, Oscar spiders his fingers across Lando’s waistband and down, cupping him through his sweatpants. He’s already half-hard, tips his head back to Oscar’s shoulder with a shuddery exhale.
He leans in so his mouth is right next to Lando’s ear. Normally he’s shit at dirty talk, but this is so out of the realms of what he’d consider sexy chat that it’s somehow fine. It’s storytelling.
“It’d be pretty easy to get you down in one go without chewing,” he says, letting his voice drop to a rumble. Lando’s breath catches again. “You’re so small, you’d slip right down.”
“Fuck,” Lando mumbles. His hips jerk, cock fattening under Oscar’s hand. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Oscar says, rubbing in slow circles. “And you know I’ve been working out loads this year. Need to keep my protein levels high, ‘cause I’m growing.”
Lando makes a bitten-off sound. “You’re really big now, compared to me,” he mumbles.
“That’s right,” Oscar says, soothingly. “I’m getting bigger every day. It’d be easy for me to pick you up, wouldn’t it? Swallow you down. Would you want me to start with your head or your feet?”
He squeezes his thighs around Lando’s, pressing in on him. He can just about see over Lando’s head to where he’s got his fingers curled into the meat of his own thighs, knuckles white.
Lando whines and presses his back into Oscar’s chest. “My feet,” he says, hoarse.
“Right,” Oscar agrees. “Start at the feet, so you feel it all. I mean, you’re tiny, but my throat would still squeeze you so tight, right? You’d slide down so slowly, probably barely be able to breathe.”
He lifts his other arm, wrapping it around Lando’s chest, holding him in place. Lando jolts, nearly smashing Oscar’s nose with the back of his head. He’s breathing fast and shallow, high up in his chest like the very few times Oscar’s seen him having an anxiety attack. For a moment, he worries he’s somehow gone too far.
“You good?” he says, very quiet. Presses a kiss to the soft and vulnerable skin behind Lando’s ear.
“Keep going,” Lando grits out. His voice has gone strange, high and choked.
“Okay,” Oscar says, squeezing Lando closer to him, grinding the heel of his palm against the tip of Lando’s dick through his pants. “So just as you think it’s too much, and you’re gonna suffocate in my throat–” Lando moans and Oscar closes his eyes, has to take a breath, because this might not be his thing but the way Lando’s reacting is doing it for him “–finally you’d manage to free yourself, end up in my stomach.”
“Yeah,” Lando says. He’s trembling. Oscar racks his brains, trying to remember what he’d read about online.
“Yeah,” he says. “You could just – curl up in there, my stomach would be all stretched out around you. Dark and warm, and you’d just be – I’d keep you in there, safe and, and mine, nobody else could get to you.”
Lando makes a choked noise, like Oscar’s just punched him. Oscar’s sweating now, Lando’s body plastered against his. He’s weirdly light-headed, cock half-hard and pressing against the cleft of Lando’s arse. It’s not just a story anymore. To keep Lando inside him, nestled in the achy space just behind his ribcage that Lando seems to inhabit anyway – he wants it, suddenly and desperately.
“You’d be a part of me,” he gets out past his suddenly constricting throat, licks the sweat from the curve of Lando’s neck.
Lando says his name, a broken rise-and-fall intonation, and wetness floods across Oscar’s hand.
Oscar holds him through it, blinking away the dizziness. His mouth is dry. Lando’s shoulders are shaking rhythmically; when he turns his head, Oscar realises with a jolt of worry that his cheeks are wet, tears streaking the tanned skin, disappearing into the light thatch of his beard.
“Oh God,” Oscar says involuntarily. “Are you alright?”
Lando makes a noise that could be a laugh or a sob. He sniffles, brings one big hand up to scrub at his eyes. “M’fine. It was. That was – thanks.”
Oscar brings a thumb up, brushes the wet from Lando’s matted eyelashes. “You’re fine,” he says, gentle. Lando takes a shuddering breath. “Hey, reckon we’d finally beat Max if I assimilated your racing skill into mine?”
It’s a stupid comment, but it has the desired effect; Lando gives a hiccupy laugh, relaxing against him. “Maybe,” he says. “Not sure we’d pass the FIA weight restrictions.”
Oscar hums. “I’ll ask Zak next time we’re at MTC.”
Lando turns in his arms, pulling a face that could be in response to Zak or the rapidly cooling mess in his pants.
“I would, you know,” Oscar says quickly, before their lips meet. “If I could. If you wanted.”
Lando smiles, eyes red and hazy, the tender skin beneath still wet with tears. Despite it all, he looks happier than Oscar’s seen him in months. “I know.”

Just in case anyone missed it from yesterday: one of the most amazing conversations took place yesterday about the developments and trajectories of BL/QL tropes and styles of storytelling. The thread got really long, so I’ll offer a couple links and I encourage anyone reading to also check out the comments. @miscellar, @shortpplfedup, @bengiyo -- besides giving you SO MANY THANKS for the conversation and EDUCATION, it also sounds like I need to add Lovely Writer to my list to find out what I’m missing!
As someone still very new to the head-spinning world of Asian QLs -- very particularly the recent progressive developments in Thai QLs vis à vis Jojo and Aof -- I think these threads are necessary educational reading for setting context into what I’m/we’re watching. I almost feel like I have to do a rewatch of Bad Buddy already just to catch the subversion of BL tropes, but I don’t know if my heart can handle it in the short term after writing that huge thesis.
Anyway: here’s the original thread from yesterday, with an incredible dialogue between @miscellar and @shortpplfedup about the differences between Lovely Writer and Bad Buddy; and the comments, particularly by @bengiyo, about how Thai styles are in part influenced by European frameworks (@bengiyo, your bildungsroman comment gives me more confidence that my read on Hegel’s framework in Bad Buddy was likely accurate).
@airenyah also linked to a few of @miscellar‘s past analyses regarding the subversion of BL tropes in Bad Buddy here and here, with the second link being an utterly FABULOUS dissection and history of how Bad Buddy subverted BL tropes that were SPECIFICALLY tailored to be reflective of het/cishet romcom references. It gives me the SHIVERS to think of how deep Aof went with Nanon and Ohm to dig into all kinds of Thai drama history and BL tropes simply to turn them on their head in Bad Buddy -- and @miscellar’s original answer at the top of the parent thread also deeply references this (and, AND, I discovered Soonvijarn in the process, the videos of which I cannot WAIT TO DIVE INTO, because I can’t get enough of the EDUCATION here!).
I LITERALLY do not have enough time during my work day to spend the hours I need to spend learning about all of this, BUT: my heart is full for knowing where I need to go to get more context into what I’m watching, and I’m thanking goodness that GMMTV is giving to me now the way that TV Tokyo did when I first discovered BLs a few years ago. TUMBLR FAM, I LOVE YOU ALL SO SO FREAKING MUCH!

List 5 topics you can talk on for an hour without preparing any material
tagged by: @eldritchteletubbie (thanks!)
1. The life of Mary Stuart O’Donnell and the related Irish politics of the early 1600s. I got into researching her life a few years ago and, while the project is on the back-burner, it’s still of great interest to me. After reaching out to several historians who had written about her (however small the writing), it sparked a bit more interest in said historians and more research and articles started cropping up in the subsequent years which was neat to see. There isn’t a lot recorded about her, but what we do know is fascinating: I’d love some day to travel to Ireland so I can read and transcribe her letters from the National Library. They currently don’t exist in any digitalized or transcribed format.
2. Theology, generally speaking, but recently I’ve been really digging into the theology of gender and sexuality which has been fun. I can also go on for quite a while about the necessity of reading the Bible within cultural, temporal, and textual context.
3. Most video games that I’ve played. But especially We Happy Few and Genshin Impact. WHF had me in a choke hold for over a year and still is of great interest to me. The game mechanics are janky as hell but the writing, characters, themes, and environmental storytelling are deeply compelling. Genshin is immersive, massive, emotional, character-driven, and rich with plot and lore. There’s just so much to talk about! I did actually talk for over and hour about both of these games on my first date with my now partner. That’s how you know he’s a real one.
4. Environmental activism and sustainability in all of their intertwined facets.
5. The history of vampire literature, with a focus in pre-1900 works. Der Vampire, the Vampyre, Carmilla, Clairmonde, the works of Paul Feval peré, Varney the Vampire, Dracula, etc. And the way that the cultural climate of the times influenced what fears vampires represented. Was it the seductress? The predatory man? The homosexual? The aristocracy? The con man? Humanism? Catholicism? The list goes on. Vampire literature is just so fascinating and I love researching and discussing this topic
no pressure tags for: @runawaymun @monstroso @djangodurango @wigglewyrms @exeggcute @sasusquatch @veranthia @greyjedijaneite and any one else who wants to!

uouoauhg... explodes of Quemstions(tm)
9- tell a story about your childhood this one is . really funny actually bc i thought abt several stories and Most of them revolve around pokemon in one way or another .. there Have been several different times i was directly responsible for a boom in pkmn card popularity in my school, subsequently causing them to get banned. one of those times, there was a kid who just. he just fucking sucked man. id bring stacks of my cards in my backpack bc i loved sharing and trading them, and he just. apparently snuck in and stole like half of them? at some point? and i Knew, because my favorite card was one of em, and it had been out of print for Years at that point, and when i confronted him, he said he 'got it at walmart.' which was obviously fucking bullshit but i was too much of a pansy to confront him about it. iwas still solidly in the Polite School Kid thing, yknow? and at some point one of my friends from a lower grade went 'hey. check this out.' and pulls out a fucking wad of cards he stole back from the guy??? INCLUDING all of my missing favorites. im honestly still kinda baffled to this day about it, but it doesnt matter bc my beloved is safe at home with me even to this day and i wouldnt trade her for the world. <33 (if youre curious. 2006 salamence ex delta species. her name is sally :])
14- what’s something you’ve always wanted to do but maybe been to scared to do? roleplay. i used to spend hours and hours and Hours rping literally everywhere at any chance i got, and for some reason i just... stopped? ive tried again a few times, but its never really managed t pick itself back up again... ''> > im. unfortunately Very picky about my own writing, and even more picky than that about the way im perceived, which doesnt really mix well... and then theres the active rping communities which are so alien and... weirdly strict? i always end up pushing myself too hard and exploding about it. metaphorically. outwardly its more like i just fucken disappear off th face of the earth KJNGKJD;; itried picking up an old forum acc i had about two or three weeks ago, and um. well... bbbbad timing on my part iguess... = = storytelling is still one of my biggest loves though, and i know im still deeply passionate about it, its just. ouhhhhh the struggles. oh and also cosplaying in public. id love to do that too one day, if i manage to find some friends willing within a country's radius maybe. i used to Love videos of people hanging out semi-incharacter in cosplay and just being dorks... idont really see those too often lately though :< sad..
27- any nicknames? a couple! most of them are variants of my normal name, like pika or piko or pikkles or smthn. nobodys called me those in a long time though.. my names already short n shrimple, so there hasnt rly been much need for it isuppose. a personal favorite of mine is 19, though. i used t be in a discord server w a loooot of people, and we started a joke of a 'number cult,' in which we would all call each other by numbers and kept a list of who claimed what. mine was 19 :] (since 9 was taken already.) that... lasted well over a year actually, im still 19 to a lot of people out there ithink. kind of a comforting thought.

I started haphazardly making up the fantasy language for my story over a decade ago, based loosely at first on Ancient Persian and then on a mish-mash of Old Norse, Gaelic, and Old English, so sometimes I encounter words I made up that I'm just like... where the hell did that one come from and what does it mean? And then I have to spend a few minutes trying to reverse engineer the etymology of a word I MADE UP. Allegedly. I have also occasionally just stolen whole words, which makes me incredibly nervous in hindsight. Like I know my word for 'nice' means 'ice cream' in Scotts-Gaelic but what else have I forgotten? What linguistic abominations have I overlooked? My memory is a sieve and I came up with most of these words at 2am. I've never had significant formal education in any ancient, old, or dead languages. I know just enough about languages to know I know frighteningly little. I got into this mess because for many years I absolutely refused to make up a fantasy language. To me it seemed like a dangerous distraction from the work of storytelling. I was certain that I could avoid ever needing to make up a language by coming up with enough excuses for characters to speak real ones. But the story and the fantasy cultures inside it kept growing. During a summer of world building work (7-ish years into the project) I finally caved and started keeping a glossary. It's still the worst glossary you've never seen. It's not alphabetized. In fact apart from a few sections of related words there's no order to it all despite the fact that it contains... over 1000 words?! And you know what the worst part is??? There's still no grammar! It's a tossed word salad of a language and my only hope is that none of those language nerd types will ever read this story. They would see right through it and I'd be the biggest joke in the language nerd community for all time. Horrible to realize that if I'd taken the time to make up a whole language when I was 19 I would've saved myself a decade or two of these troubles. It could honestly ruin my life if I published it and got called out because clearly I am deeply insecure about this. Too late to fix it now though.
Although I did have one of my language nerd friends (guy who can speak & write all the Tolkien languages) test read a few chapters and he said the language sounded cool. I don't know what to make of that. After all this anxiety maybe I tripped and fell into a puddle of paint and the splash pattern created a painting of a really badass looking dragon.

Hayden/Ewan RPF - Feeling of doing nothing
Event: @domaystic Fandom: Star Wars RPF Rating: General Audiences Prompt: 30 Feeling of doing nothing Ship: Hayden/Ewan Disclaimer: References to real people are used fictitiously. Do not share this with them! Context: Present day. Ewan is visiting Hayden on his farm. Follows the timeline of my other RPF ficlets, but you don’t necessarily need to read those to understand this. You can find them here on my blog. Words: 892
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It takes Ewan several hours to spit out what he's been chewing on. Enough time for Hayden to go out with the farm-hand and set up the new fence post where he should have put one years ago and to smear the cuts on Dolly's skin to keep them from getting infected.
He is quiet through lunch prep, which doesn't much phase Hayden; he's found both the storyteller and the stoic to be good company. It gives him time to turn over his own thoughts…
He hasn't asked why Ewan is here because he more or less knows: marriage trouble or its ilk. He doesn't go for gossip but things come across his screen nonetheless, no matter how much he ignores them.
"Listen, I… " Ewan begins before trailing off almost immediately.
So Hayden listens, to the silence mostly, but at the same time he watches — the slack set of Ewan's jaw, the furrow between his brows, his distant gaze, the beard overdue for a trim.
"I'm really grateful for your hospitality," he continues.
"Of course," Hayden says immediately. "You're always welcome."
"And you haven't asked," Ewan says slowly, "but I suppose you're probably wondering…"
"I mean," Hayden shifts, turning his gaze from the porch to the distant grove of trees. "I know."
Ewan doesn't reply, doesn't turn to look at him, just furrows his brow.
"You told me some of it in Berlin. I expect this is related?" He turns it into a question at the last second.
"My partner," Ewan says, as though gearing himself up for it, and then he stops again.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Hayden asks.
"What's there to say?" Ewan asks in exasperation.
But then he speaks for hours.
At the end of it, they finished the chores, cleaned up after dinner, and are back on the porch, back with that malted fruit soda instead of beer. Hayden isn't a teetotaller, but he doesn't mind it.
"Our publicists did a damn sight better negotiating our separation than we did." Ewan picks at the label on his bottle. "I'm ashamed to say there was a fair bit of yelling, most of it was me."
He falls back in his chair with a sigh, seeming depleted.
"That's what they called irreconcilable differences. Two times now." He grimaces. "I don't know what I'm doing wrong."
"You're not," Hayden says gently. "Irreconcilable… it's the right word. Sometimes you're in a good relationship, with a good person, but there's just that thing you can't get over. Or several."
Hayden smirks, laughing to himself.
"Speaking from experience?" Ewan asks kindly.
When Hayden looks up, Ewan is looking at him affectionately, but it's a deeply sympathetic look as well. Hayden thinks he sees tears shining in Ewan's eyes.
"When it happens more than once…" Hayden trails off and Ewan lets him keep the silence a moment.
Out in the grass, the evening insects are louder than they've been all day.
"I don't think there's anyone who got me the way Rachel does. And… I flatter myself thinking that I'm good enough to deserve her. I'd do almost anything for her."
He catches himself before he gets lost gathering wool.
"Anyway. Even though I'm pretty sure she's my person, I'm not sure I'm hers. When we're good, we're so good, but it's not enough." He shrugs. "Sometimes that's not enough."
"Do you ever think you should try harder?"
"We do." Hayden snorts. "We did."
"Ah, I'm sorry," Ewan says quietly. "I didn't mean to dredge up your own feelings about separation."
Hayden snorts. "No worries. I spend a lot of time thinking about her, about us…" He hesitates a moment, knowing he's alluded to it but not yet explained… "I'm even writing a book about it."
"About you and Rachel?" Ewan asks, brow furrowing as he looks at Hayden.
"Well, a guy named Mac and his ex-fiancée, Evelyn."
"Do they have a daughter?" Ewan asks, smirking, but its a playful look.
"Yeah, her name is Marie, and she spends the summers with her dad when she's not at school."
"And are they both actors?" Ewan asks.
"No, actually, bit of a Notting Hill situation, Evelyn is a stage actress who came out to do regional theater when she was young, fell in love, but Mac couldn't hack it in the city."
"The city is boring," Ewan says, his expression darkening. "I don't blame him for leaving."
"He goes back occasionally," Hayden says, shrugging. "There's balance, I guess. Ah, well… I don't know if I'll ever send it out. Or if anyone would even publish it."
"I'd like to read it," Ewan says, almost adamant.
Hayden is surprised, but as the shock settles over him, he realizes he shouldn't be. He remembers how quiet Ewan had gotten when he'd found out about Hayden's short stories — also unpublished — in a way that didn't seem like disapproval. Ewan's always been politely curious, not just about Hayden, so this should feel normal to have that interest turned upon him.
It does not feel normal. He thinks of Ewan holding him when he'd been a scared boy away from home, and holding Ewan when he'd been a wreck in Berlin. He thinks of stroking Ewan's hair back from his face when he'd fallen asleep on the couch and it feels… not normal.
"Okay," Hayden says.

I think why it is so difficult for me to let go of kp is because this truly is my first and last bl. Idk if you remember me, but you used to get a lot of anons on the seedier side of bl industry. That was me. I tried to give bl a chance many many years ago, but certain tropes didn't really sit comfortable with me. Now you might say well the relationships in kp aren't healthy either ( and I am a vp shipper😅) but I felt there was something here that was missing from all those years earlier, and I fell so deeply into the brainrot. And now it is gone and I don't have anything else ( I mean I am sure the other queer love stories are made with just as much care but still...). Nothing.
Anon, I feel you, 100%. Long time no see.
As someone who spent years deconstructing my love for M&Bs, it is so ironic that some of my favorite bls are Tharntype and Kinnporsche.
To me, I fell in love with Kinnporsche for two reasons.
It was very obvious about its bad behavior. The first thing I saw n the trailer was the main character coming out to SMOKE!!!! and then he fell in love with his rude boss... and then his boss was parading other partners in front of him. Not to mention the hinting at the sexual torture. I was sold. I was ready for a show that wasn't going to pretend to be about fun and love, all the while parading toxic behaviors as good behavior.
I was sold on Porsche being a bad ass. This was something Type from Tharntype gave me a bit of, but I was upset with him sometimes because he was the abuser. I was happy to see the "bottom" character being given a backbone because too many times those characters are made spineless. But that trailer with Porsche gave me hope.
I went in to Kinnporsche expecting these two things and yes, I will admit that they let me down because Porsche became a little spineless and the show tried to portray Kinn's fuckery as good behavior.
But the beauty of it all was that while I didn't get exactly what I wanted, I got other things. I got intruige. I got action sequences in a bl. I got shenanigans. And best of all, I didn't have to spend 90% of the time staring at school uniforms. I cannot explain how much the adultness of this story appeals to me. I love that they weren't children. At least, they tried to make us forget that Porsche, Jom and Tem were in school but that was so fine by me.
And best of all, KINNPORSCHE KILLED EVERY SINGLE SEXUAL SCENE. The kisses, the sex, the handjobs. Oh Lord. they did it better than everyone who came before and anyone who has come after. Even down to that crying scene in the bar where that silly bartender strolled out and ruined the vegaspete moment, anyone can admit that we were hoping for some wall action. And if they'd done it, the show would have killed it.
Right now, I'm judging western sex scenes using Kinnporsche as my metric. Anything less is cringe, as far as I'm concerned.
So yes, Anon. I understand completely. other bls are trying their best to live up to the legacy of Kinnporsche, but to me, they're not succeeding. I've found some nice ones with good acting/storytelling, but... it's just not it. At least not yet.
I'm waiting with crossed fingers to see if BOC can replicate that magic or if Kinnporsce was a fluke. GMMTV and the others have been pretty consistent but BOC doesn't have a record to track so I want to wait. If another show comes out, I will give it a chance. I'm praying for Man Suang to quench this thirst in my spirit.
Honestly, in my head, I doubt that anything can top Kinnporsche right now. Especially with the cast separating and doing different things. I loved them all together. I got so used to seeing them all as a unit that it's going to be hard to watch something with one or to people. But I will try because I need my fix.
Like I said, my fingers are crossed TIGHT!

Since I’ve seen posts about it: What is bsg? And where can I watch it (streaming services)?
Bsg is Battlestar Galactica. One of, imo, the best TV shows of all time, in terms of storytelling and character work (not to mention the acting, the incredible score, and visual effects that hold up surprisingly well). It's one of those rare sci-fi shows that reached a broader audience while it was on the air; it's a deeply human show and I think for most people after about twenty minutes it's really easy to forget it's sci-fi. It's genuinely like. Legacy TV. My girl doesn't like sci-fi and only asked to watch it bc she knows I love it and it was my birthday (and bc she knew I got into a fight in a bar about it and I think she was curious) but now she's binging it and screaming at me about it lmao alas, it is, as far as I know, not currently available to stream anywhere. I own it, so my girl has been watching my box set. I am certain it could be pirated or found on one of the *ahem* free streaming sites tho idk where since I haven't had to look for it.
The premise of the show is, essentially, the world comes to an end and humanity is almost completely wiped out and then things get worse. But it's also about hope and love and what it means to be alive. It's about family and redemption and the consequences of our actions. It's about grief and perseverance. It's the reason I ever learned what fanfic was, it's the reason I'm on Tumblr, it's the reason I met some of my best friends, more than ten years ago now. It's a fucking experience.

Hey, if you have the time could you please list some of your resources to find the original - or at least older than the Disney Canon™ - fairytales? I find them deeply interesting but its hard to mine through retellings of retellings only to find out they are based on the movies
Well as I've mentioned before, the initial post for Cindy was written while I was drunk. In fact, a significant amount of all the chapters for Cindy were written with several beers in me. However! I was writing them while vaguely remembering a literature class on fairy tales I took in college nearly 9 years ago! Here's the reader which I still have because I'm a book hoarder! (Professor Kimberly Lau my beloved...SHE WAS SO COOL.)
Tumblr media
So basically the main sources for Cinderella in this class were the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault--and like, this class also made a point of distinguishing between folkloric fairy tales and literary fairy tales--so The Little Mermaid, The Wild Swans, and The Snow Queen? Literary Fairy Tale, because those were all written by Hans Christian Andersen in the 19th century, who, for the record, I adore but I would absolutely put in a nightmare blunt rotation. Cinderella, Snow White, and Red Riding Hood? Folkloric. Those have lots of different versions over a long period of time with many variations depending on the audience. We also covered a wide range of funky, kind of fucked up and depressing fairy tales from Italy and Spain (Spanish Fairy tales are SO DEPRESSING oh my GOD Spain are you okay).
But also a significant aspect of Fairy Tales we covered was the concept of "parlor culture" in the development of fairy tales, which like, basically boils down to upper class and emerging upper-middle-class women in the 17th century hanging out and reading shit to each other in the parlors of their estates--this was how a lot of fucked up folkloric fairy tales got re-adapted, and, in their own time, 'modernized' at least by 17th century standards because you had a lot of upper class and upper-middle-class ladies reading their adaptions of folklore gathered by the folklorists of the day. Like, Charles Perrault's collection of fairy tales were written with a very specific goal of the 'education' of young upper and upper-middle-class ladies (like the dude literally ended Red Riding Hood with something like "Hey what do you think the wolf is a metaphor for?") So like... you have this combination of the gradual spread of literacy actively transforming fairy tales and storytelling and also turning fairy tales themselves into an area of active study and interest and, as a result of this, their active transformation. It's like quantum physics, almost! As something is observed, it is transformed!! I don't know a lot about quantum physics!
But okay, got off track. Basically the major sources you're gonna wanna look at for fairy tales are the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault because like, while these guys were just recording already existing fairy tales, they basically outlined the fairy tales as we know them today. You'll also want to look at Hans Christian Andersen because while he was writing this shit in the 19th century, dude really got the fairy tale vibe--at least before Disney scrubbed away all of the fairy tales' cool gritty shit (THE BASTARDS TOOK AWAY THE ROBBERS' DAUGHTER IN THE SNOW QUEEN. CAN'T HAVE SHIT IN ANAHEIM.)
Also if you want to look at other cool folkloric projects, I really like W.B. Yeats' Irish Fairy and Folktales, The Fireside Podcast (also Irish folklore), and Francis James Child's Child Ballads.
Another significant influence on my writing style was Jim Henson's The Storyteller which if you haven't seen it yet you need to watch NOW NOW WATCH IT NOW WATCH THE PUPPETS AND JOHN HURT PLEASE WATCH IT NOW.

ok. ok. ENOUGHHH i have stared at and deleted too many of these lovely asks. I have to be honest with you all. GOD I am so nervous rn.
so the truth is that I have recently been able to confront the fact that I have severely underdeveloped, if not even deeply flawed, book opinions (specifically wrt fiction, non-fiction I feel much more confident about). as in, I don’t read nearly enough fiction because of a) law school and b) during undergrad I barely read anything other than JSTOR articles and my professors’ textbooks. I am a book fraud. I know very little, and I am not very good at even discerning what draws me to books and what repels me from them. so here are my feeble contributions to the Tumblr book discourse, which you all have to take with a grain of salt because I’m not the reader that I should be or that I want to be yet. sigh
I am a Sally Rooney enjoyer to the nth degree, my favorite being Normal People because I got much more invested in the characters than I did in her other novels, but I am woman enough to admit that I think Conversations With Friends is a better book from a story standpoint. so she’s at the top.  I also have been loving Ocean Vuong’s On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, which has some absolutely beautiful poetic prose that moves me.  I have been recently really enjoying Brit Bennett’s The Vanishing Half, although I’m only a few chapters in — same with Jessamine Chan’s The School for Good Mothers.  I read Donna Tartt’s The Secret History a little over a year ago and did not enjoy it as much as I feel like I should have, but I think that also speaks to the fact that I was in a VERY weird place mentally while reading, so I want to give it another shot. but even when I wasn’t loving it I do remember that her descriptions of Ancient Greek storytelling and imagery were so beautiful and helped spur me to continue writing theogony.  I did not love Jennifer Saint’s Ariadne book but I feel like fans of Greek mythology should read it just to see how they like it. I finished Otessa Mosfegh’s My Year of Rest and Relaxation and stared at my apartment’s wall thinking “what did I just experience” so there’s a non-review of that book, I suppose.
I enjoyed Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows! I haven’t read the second one, though, because I feel like after reading Shadow and Bone I got tired of that entire universe very quickly lol. I am also always and perpetually a fan of Diana Wynne Jones’s Howl’s Moving Castle, which I think really beautifully elaborates on the things that I loved so much about the Miyazaki film.  I also tend to be a fan of all things Gabriel Garcia Marquez, though I haven’t read his works since my Spanish literature classes in college.
I really would love to get more into fantasy and adventure novels and fun things like that but I am so nervous that I won’t like them for whatever warped reason my brain might produce that I just…don’t read them. LMAO. god. OCD is really a sonuvabitch.
god. ok. I feel like I’ve run a marathon. hope this is comprehensive enough for all of you lovely people. I'm going to go nap and/or to therapy.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! What would you say is your favorite part of your writing process? How do you create your characters and once you do, what is your favorite kinds of scenes to write with them?
Happy Storyteller Saturday to you too!
There is a lot I enjoy about the writing process... I love the initial brainstorming of ideas of places the story could go... I also love to create characters and develop them into people. Something that I like to do (and have been doing for my Steph's Crew series) is come up with the main story, come up with a structure, and then think about potential conversations that my characters might have in each of those stages/moments in the story before I actually do any writing. I've posted some of the dialogues of my Steph's Crew story, and once I've posted all of the conversations in order, I'll get to posting the actual chapters.
My process when it comes to creating characters kind of varies? I'll be 100% honest with you - for my main character Steph, I used a character generator that I found online lol. That was about a year ago, when I first got the idea for this story. It gave me a good starting point: I got a name, age, basic backstory and a few rough ideas for a personality. A lot of stuff from there has been added, removed, or changed around... I feel like I'm better at developing characters than I am at creating them. Starting is the hardest part.
I get a lot of inspiration from my life, actually. I put a little bit of myself in every character I write. I mean, they aren't all like me, but they all represent different things to me. So for example:
Stephanie
Passionate, argumentative, knows what she wants and fights hard to get it
Cares deeply about her friends and wants to protect them
Gives good solid advice, learns through experience
Tends to hold on to the past (and can hold a grudge for an insane amount of time lol. I don't think I'm as bad as her, but still)
Bret
Really wants to do and be better, but struggles a lot with the process
Can be quite careless and thoughtless, but always ends up regretting it in the end
Deeply sensitive (though he may not seem like it at first glance)
Super creative and artistic
Loves music
Elise
(Probably the most similar to me lol.)
Major bookworm (down to her obsession with reading fantasy novels late into the night. She refers to it as her "fantasy-novel-before-bedtime time" when Bret calls her in the middle of the night to ask her for help with something)
Curious af (always wants to know more, always asking questions)
Kind of quirky and awkward, but owns it lol
Introverted, with a quiet confidence
Smart girl (really good student, works really hard and genuinely gets passionate about learning)
Tries hard at everything, kind of a perfectionist
Cares super deeply about her friends, and wants to help everyone out all the time
Used to be in a choir, but stopped (partially due to a toxic environment)
Super close with sibling (for her, it's Adam, and in my case, it's my younger sister, Hannah. She's my absolute best friend!)
She has this inexplicable (to some of the others lol) crush on Bret (bless his overly chaotic soul), and eventually ends up getting with him. Could be me subconsciously giving her my bad boy phase (I used to be into that aesthetic, but I grew out of it lol)
Dylan
He's black
Lives with a younger sibling and a single parent
Comes from a broken home (divorced parents)
Tends to bottle his emotions
Doesn't feel comfortable about sharing his problems sometimes
Alice
Sarcastic sense of humour
Very insecure, and has this tendency to compare herself with others (in her case, her genius twin sister Mary)
Uses humour as a coping mechanism sometimes (uses it to mask her insecurity)
Puts pressure on herself to be perfect (or at least make up for the areas she lacks in)
Feels bad when she fails, but is determined to improve and tries hard to change and be better than she was before
Yeah, these are all the ways that my characters are like me. I think it's fun to incorporate little pieces of your life into your writing (whether its just general stuff, or really specific things like the fantasy novel thing. I actually used to do that lol).
I don't know if I have a specific favourite type of scene that I like to write for my characters... mostly I just like it when they have good chemistry together, and when a conversation flows in a satisfying way that showcases all their individual personalities well. Like, I love to incorporate a bit of banter, some joking and teasing. I love the more lighthearted scenes. And I have included some romantic subplots in this story as well because I love love❤️️ (I enjoy writing the lovey dovey scenes, but it's slightly awkward for me, too, since I seriously lack experience in that department, so I don't really know if I'm capturing it right. It's fun, though).
Hope this answers your question! Thank you so much for the ask.

I said some stuff in the tags of my first reblog about this series, when i had only seen the trailer, basically that it looked like they absolutely nailed what they were going for in terms of the tone, the dynamic, the chemistry, that it might be a bit silly but it looked GOOD. and . i stand by this!
I know there are people who aren't enjoying it... there always are. There are also people who have beef with Force & Book's previous series who are carrying that prejudice into this show. (imo enchante's biggest crime was that filter they used. everyone looking weirdly smooth. freaky tbh.) (also the last 2 eps were basically unnecessary but let's not get into it.) I feel like I saw a lot of people esp. at the beginning making excuses for watching ABAAB - saying well of course it's not good it's not doing anything new, someone even saying 'it's so bad it's good' - which baffles me lol. SO not how I feel about it! it's good! if you like it just accept it; if it's not for you it's not for you.
any way . Force + Book have really nice chemistry, great at showing the characters' comfort / ease / gentle loving care for each other without a lot of fireworks or histrionics. And tbh not a lot of like - tension even! they're too comfortable for there to be tension! eg. the scene where Cher helps Gun unbutton his shirt and they both go very quiet about it. & the scene where Gun accidentally crashes cher's livestream and he's not even really mad about it. It feels kind of like My School President in the tone it's going for, in that it's a bit silly and light but there is some substance beneath it and it can be cute but actually not overly NICE. And it feels like it's progressing towards a more natural idea of how a relationship develops than certain older bl which can be a bit all or nothing (eg. i JUST watched tonhon chonlatee .. scream) And this is surely gmmtv's first office bl since Sotus S which was five years ago? w/ever I feel like this series is maybe a bigger deal than it looks. Also it's a perfect non stressful weekly watch. (really feel like i almost DIED watching NLMG week to week.) check back in with me in uhh six weeks or whenever it's done.
Our Dating Sim (South Korea 2023 / Viki) - watching bc people on my dash were really into it. I'm two eps in and it's well done but it's not making me CRAZY the way I always want to be made crazy. I do love the k-bl short series format and the k-bl style of storytelling often gets to me quite intensely so I'm hopeful.
Bokura no Shokutaku/ Our Dining Table (Japan 2023) - one ep in. made me crave onigiri soso bad. I haven't read the original manga so I am watching fresh, no expectations. the first ep was totally delightful.
SUCCESSION - watching it weekly with one of my siblings . if u follow me u will know I am deeply into it & even a little weird about it & have been since november 2020. hashtag tomgreg rights hashtag kenstewy rights hashtag tomshiv rights. here's my hot take: in some ways i think the most recent ep was BETTER than the previous one.
Riverdale - watching it weekly ... admittedly usually while doing something else eg cooking. Listen. Riverdale is.. not explainable in any sensible way. If you know you know. Many things about it are stupid and unbearable but its derangement is unparalleled and i appreciate that. Almost no one is a full 3-d character it's like watching puppets.
How To with John Wilson - I absolutely love this series, it's on iPlayer in the UK but I think it's originally HBO. ep 1.6 How To Make Risotto actually haunts me. framed as a series of tutorials, it veers and goes off on tangents, in form it's kind of like visual essays edited together from .. fairly random footage shot on the streets of New York. with a lot of visual gags.
Looking forward to watching soon -
Our Skyy 2 ... truly .... I am going to be so insufferable for the next eight weeks. I'm planning to watch all of it - the only series I haven't watched is Star In My Mind. i WAS most anticipating the ATOTS episodes because i just want to see phupha + tian again. But NLMG and Eclipse and MSP look like they're doing some absolutely wild & funky things so yeah i am excited for all of it.
Only Friends - I think they've just started work on it right? but yeah. looking forward to getting a little unhinged about this.
The Eighth Sense - tbh I think i'm going to wait for it to finish before I watch it. I need some of the discourse to die down a bit so I can go in with the right frame of mind.
Still deciding if I’m gonna watch
Probably most of the upcoming GMMTV series I'll at least try but generally I like to read a few reactions before going in.

i hope this isn't too weird but i see that you're into d&d! when did you get into it? how did you get into it? what's your character like? i'm not trying steal ideas, i just think it's really really cool!
Oh, of course not, that isn't weird at all. It's a pleasure to know someone is interested and really don't worry about stealing ideas, haha. I don't believe an idea can really be stolen!
I got into D&D oh, let's see, maybe fourteen years ago now? Back when I was in middleschool. You see I grew up in the suburbs in a place with no other children my age, when I started middle school a neighbor moved in with a boy the same age as me, so as the only two kids in the neighborhood we quickly became fast friends. His father had been an oldschool D&D player so they had all the books and through that I quickly discovered it.
The two of us would play as middle schoolers with a vague understanding of the rules, haha. Eventually we got a friend group together that wound up playing. In our senior year of high school Stranger Things came out, y'all probably recall that, and D&D became real in vogue so we ended up with quite a few other friends wanting to try getting into it, haha.
Back then we mostly played 3.5 but when we started university we ended up scattered and with different schedules so we ended up finding new groups. During that time I started playing way more fifth edition. There are things I like about both editions (as well as other ttrpgs I'm particularly fond of the Storyteller system utilized in CoD and I love the character building of Pathfinder) so I won't say I favor one.
As for my character, hehe, traditionally I've always been the forever DM in a lot of my friend groups. That's not to say I haven't been a player in a hand full of really fun campaigns but it's not often the hat I find myself wearing. When I do play a character I often prefer playing either a cleric or a paladin. I find that the varying codes that 5th edition paladins are bound to can create for interesting characters and dynamic situations and that the religious dogma clerics subscribe to can make for interesting and varied characters.
Haha. Hope I didn't ramble too much about myself. ttrpgs are something I deeply enjoy so I'm almost always in the mood to talk about them. Other tabletop games as well. I could ramble to you all about Arkham Horror's LCG for quite a long time.

So hey. Rusty Quill Gaming ended.
I finally got a chance to listen to the last episode a week or so ago.
And... that epilogue (at least the first part of it) has me feeling some sort of ways.
(spoilers for RQG end + Epilogue ahead)
Where to begin...
I think I’ll begin with - I really loved that campaign as a whole. I loved the characters, and I loved the progression of the story, and so of course I hated to see it end. I think that’s a common issue for many things, and it doesn’t reflect badly on the podcast itself, regardless of how negative my feelings may be.
At the same time I have to admit a weakness and say that ‘all the magic is now purged from the world’ is one of my least favorite tropes in magical storytelling. I understand why it may make sense thematically. I understand WHY people are drawn to that ending in some circumstances. I understand that jokes about how magic builds reliance have their place, and how it’s a valid reading.
And yet.
Tumblr media
The fact that the world went mundane and all the characters (save for Hamid) seem to have moved on relatively quickly and without issue feels like such a slap in the face.
I don’t mean ‘moved on’ in the technical sense. I understand that the epilogue dealt with many fallouts of the world having to adjust to loss of magic. I appreciated the details added into that - the fact that communication has slowed, the fact that mass production has slowed, the fact that travel without use of Elementals has become a problem... Those are all very cool things to see in a worldbuilding sense.
But I feel that, aside from Hamid, none of the players have bothered to draw any attention to the emotional fallout of removing magic from the world wholesale.
Magic, which is a historically powerful, well researched and well known study of energy and matter, and the interaction of the real world and those beyond. Magic, which was some people’s life work - and some people’s life blood.
Einstein was a Wizard, for fuck’s sake. This was his whole LIFE. Yes, he is a bit wonky at this point in his life anyway thanks to magic, so he may be adjusting to this on a skewed scale.
And yes, Azu is the most emotionally adjusted of all of them so I can forgive her dealing with her lack of connection to her deity in private.
Yes, Zolf has always been an emotionally constipated asshole, and YES, he has had AMPLE experience with loss and grief, and this is not his first rodeo, so he is probably better equipped to handle this than most.
Even Wilde, who is a powerful bard in his own right, used his magic as a support for his other talents, and has things to fall back on which are not built entirely on magic.
But Hamid? Holy fuck, Hamid. Magic was him.
He is the YOUNGEST of all of them. Before beginning to discover his magical abilities, he didn’t have anything to call his own except his family’s money. He didn’t have anything he could be proud of - indeed he was deeply ashamed of the person he had become. He built his whole identity, his whole pride, on the basis of his draconic bloodline.
Magic - his birthright, his connection to his adventuring career, his reason to keep going - was torn from him and now he is just. Existing.
And damn, that hurts.
Tumblr media
Maybe I’m reaching here, maybe I’m projecting my own dependencies onto this sad little character. But I feel like people often underplay the importance of magic in a world that has co-evolved with it for so long, as has become so deeply entwined with its history, its cultures, its way of life.
It’s not just a shortcut for lazy wizards - it’s something they studied, understood, worked years of their life into. It’s not simply something that makes their life easier, it’s not a deus ex machina generator for real-life problems. It’s something that has literally existed alongside physics, and something as integral to their world as gravity is to ours.
I am an artist, at heart. I don’t pretend to be particularly exemplary at it - I didn’t go to art school. I just loved to draw. It was something I connected with early on, something that I called my own, and something I would always come back to as a form of self expression.
I keep imagining a world in which I had gone on a quest to save everything I’d known - and had unwittingly sacrificed art in the process.
I think about coming back into a world devoid of art. I think about realizing I could not draw - would never draw again. I think about flipping open empty comic books, trying to remember what they looked like. I think about stores, and libraries, and museums - empty of illustrations. I think about caves where the paintings of our ancestors have ceased to exist - our connection of them forever lost to time.
What would that be like? To lose a part of yourself so integral to your identity that it feels like the part of you that kept you alive has been wiped blank? How would you feel if the world simply tried to keep going? Would you have the strength to turn to something else, to try to find something new? Or would the betrayal of losing decades of your purpose sting?
In the epilogue, there was a gentle hint that Hamid avoids drinking now. I would not be surprised if it was the result of turning to drinking early on in that first year without magic. I can very easily imagine him feeling lost and alone, and wanting nothing but the numbness.
And I am glad that a few others seemed to have noticed it somewhat, but I feel like the weight of that sort of thing is nowhere near done being discussed. I hope it isn’t. I hope we hear how the others may have dealt with it. I hope we hear how Wilde can no longer make illusions. I hope we understand how Azu dealt with losing her friend Topaz, and her god, and her healing. I hope we get a glimpse into that world, and the suffering that rift had caused.
Because damn, it deserves mention.
