It feels weird to say because it's such a popular song and it was also a big meme song back in the Vine days, but I think Mad World is very Commander Cosmo-coded
Specifically the Pentatonix version because I don't associate it with the meme and also it sounds a lot more intense compared to the original which sounds very soft. I feel Commander Cosmo is more intense than he is soft. Also, I just like their version more

Kevin was the only reason they did so much Christian music because he was the only christain one in the group#but y'know the songs kevin wanted to cover were pretty good and suitable so I can see why they weren't objecting to playing christian music#but that's besides the point#they're cool#but commander cosmo is depressed and all and I feel like their cover of mad world applies to him especially#like it's a general depressing song already but he's a special case. like it's almost on the nose with him. the chorus especially#steam powered giraffe#spg#commander cosmo#pentatonix mention#my stuff
