Wish more adaptations would take the route like Mike Flannigan works or House MD or Hannibal. "Based on" in the sense of taking inspiration from source material and playing with them like dolls and saying something unique and creative with it outside of the material while maintaining key dynamics and themes that make it recognizable to the source.
Really sick of "faithful" adaptations that mean all the aesthetics and names and plots but told in such a soulless themeless mess. Did you think because the source already taught the lessons you don't need to say anything this time, you can just copy-paste?
The equivalent of cutting up the source to make a collage versus bringing it back from the dead wrong.

i can't even pretend to appreciate all these girlboss redesigns/"updates" of female characters that seem to have had zero thought put into them beyond making her outfit more quote unquote "practical" anymore. like.. not saying i like the fact that every other woman runs around with their tits and ass out while all the dudes are fully clothed, but it's just like. please. for the love of god. if you're gonna redesign a character, redesign the character! don't just ctrl+t & drag the fabric down to cover her legs and call it a day!
idk!! like i realize this is a stupid, nitpicky little pet peeve, but there's just something so patronizing about someone resting on the brownie points they think putting a previously "scantily clad" female character in some uglyass pantsuit version of her original look will net them instead of bothering to put a little thought & effort into it and actually come up with something new for her? tits-and-ass designs are egregious & kinda annoying, yeah, but at least it (usually) feels like there was actual thought put into them lol

According to the artist, when it was suggested that a smile might benefit the look of the finished portrait, Attaché Nohell reportedly replied, "I thought the purpose of this was to be honest."
Super fun commission of @waterloggedsoliloquy's OC Sicely Nohell (they/them) and their terrible, horrible, no good, very bad lusus figure Commanding Officer.

I am aware you have said you don’t usually draw alternate versions of Mettaton but what do you think of his underswap counterpart Napstaton?
to be completely Real.... I'm not really a fan😭 though I never immersed myself in any AU stuff, so I'm just going off the little knowledge I have
my problem is that I hate the idea of Napstablook having a mettaton-like physical form, if that makes sense.... it feels not correct. too OOC. Mettaton's appearance is so unique to him, he's custom made... Napstablook wouldn't have the same tastes. they wouldn't bond with a mettaton-style robot at all i feel.. If anything I feel like they would enjoy some adventure-time-BMO-like body. just a silly little electronic. maybe a CD player or speaker or something like that
though to be fair, I'm pretty sure the swap also swaps their personalities ??? or like changes them somewhat? but that really doesn't compel me... I don't get the point of an AU if the personalities AND roles are swapped. that's just canon but reskinned
I'm not a fun hater i prommy im just so picky KLJHFJKG. I DO enjoy Napstaton as a design out of context though. like blue DJ bot is super fun :)

I have a problem, which is the fact that I don’t go through tags on AO3 and tumblr very often because I don’t like seeing my own stuff.
So I decided to make this post to ask for TWC fic recs!
They can be fics you’re a fan of, or your own (I would love it if you recommend ones you wrote! It helps me find more authors to follow, and I think that it’s important to be proud of your own work). I love reading about people’s OCs, too. It’s one of my favorite things about this fandom tbh. You’re all amazing <3
