Hero x Villain
Villain circles the Hero who is tied up to a post, eyeing them carefully but with an obvious air of confidence aimed to scare the hero. “You told them exactly where to find me-”
“That’s not true!” The Hero desperately cries to the Villain, holding in sobs of fear and regret.
“They circled me, destroyed my home,” The Villain is seething at this point. They stopped circling the Hero and instead, stands in front of them, eyes level with each other. A look of pure hatred sends the Hero into a spiral within their own mind. “You made me think you cared about me!”
“I do! I do!” The Hero cries. “I love you,” it comes out as a broken murmur.
In an instant, the Villain looms closer in front of the hero’s face. Close enough that the Hero can smell the ashes of the Villain’s home. Close enough that if the Hero were not tied up, one simple lean forward and they could kiss those lips they used to call home. But instead of moving any closer to their lips, the Villain’s mouth sit’s dangerously close to the Hero’s ear and in a soothing but malicious voice, the Villain whispers,
“I don’t believe you.”

Just a reminder that trans people, you aren't betraying anybody by transitioning. You aren't disappointing women, or men, or whomever because you have decided to transition. This is a personal decision, and if somebody put so much stake into your gender that they feel betrayed by you when they were wrong, that is (frankly) not your problem.
You aren't betraying anybody.

It’s just… it is everything that Cardan thought Jude would notice his “SO OBVIOUS” exile riddle and thinks Jude to not hesitate to come back. Beside his certainty of her cleverness to piece the riddle together, he believed he was that clear about his feelings toward her; he had thought she absolutely ought to know how he feels for her.
Like oh buddy. BUDDY. Your wife had thought of the answer to your little riddle like you thought she would. But guess what? She has detrimental TRUST ISSUES. (Like… Ur super mean and hot, I can’t blame her.) Anyway.. it’s SUPER adorable of him to so wholeheartedly believe she wouldn’t question his trust. It reveals so much about his pov of thier relationship.
Jude thought Cardan’s (silly) trick was a (vile) trick, when it was simply a: “Im trying to impress/pay you back in kind with our romantic metaphorical sparring and eventually get you out of political drama for a bit,” trick.
I’m fucking laughing wow these delusional ass children I fucking love them.

Dumb Choice V. 1
Greygold could totally take on their team 1-9. Totally. With 8+ summons and carrying a 10-year-supply of inventory items, Greygold IS the BBG babe's love fight don't count because Greyg didn't wanna fight shh
As much as I don't like where this fork-in-the-road went, boy did I have a lot of time to mull over why squid buddy called it quits. And I couldn't pick just one reason ✨
So let's kick it up a notch with the survival theory.
After hearing how certain mindflayers get the instinctual hankering to be a lil shit that sometimes they gotta roll a dice so as to NOT be a lil shit....
What if. Maybe squid buddy's mindset wasn't just being dead stubborn about surviving, but the exhausted-flayer's survival instincts kicked in. Maybe there was poor communication because Emps was in panic mode, wits at an end, fear on overddrive, every doubt collapsing in on itself, stuck-in-a-corner mode, eye-for-an-eye contemplation, fight-or-flight response overriding any other sensible dialogue options that were available for them.
Maybe Emps failed their don't-be-a-lil-shit roll
And since squid buddy didn't uh....want to repeat the fight response like with Ansur, for various reasons, reacted with flight instead
Funny story, I drew this a while back as a 'fun' theoretical possibility, but been realizing more recently ehhhhh-Emps really coulda just killed us all right then and there (not withstanding Halsin and Jaheira). If Emps had the ability to turn off the mind-protection after you stray too far from the mission, then they coulda done the same thing to everyone now. So if Emps really had a "no more use for us" mindset like a certain mindflayer book says they do, fleeing wasn't necessarily the only way for Emps to survive.
Maybe. Emps was about to react in a way they knew they were gonna regret again and eeehh- counter-reacted by noping the fuck out. For Greygold, I like that theory. Squid Buddy: jumping the gun like a dramatic tired mindless-flayer

The more I consider the "Smoky gets Frostpaw sterilized against her will" thing, the more I dislike it even on a thematic level...
This book seems to be trying to put Frostpaw through an arc of learning to trust people. Riverstar magically appears in her dreams to send her to the Park Cats who are meant to teach her this lesson, but... starting and resolving that arc more than halfway through the book was sloppy, and a waste.
Instead of Smoky forcing medical treatment on her in spite of how she tells him point blank "please no," SHE should have called for the human.
A creature that the Clan cats have never trusted, that they have great reason to fear. Caught between dying with her pride like a good warrior and taking a risk on the kindness of an unknowable beast, in spite of all the betrayal, she chooses the chance.
Play it like this; Make it so the reason she becomes chosen by Riverstar at all is because he SEES this glimmer of potential within her, because of this very choice.
Instead of that bizarre opening chapter where he seems to have magically gifted her some kind of spiritual connection as a plot device, INSTEAD make it that they were sadly overseeing the end of her life. That this was her destiny, to die as a young, proud warrior apprentice. To trust no cat, as her mother told her.
But instead, she tricks the wording of the self-fulfilling prophecy Curlfeather told her. It said nothing about trusting a human!
THEN follow it up with teaching her how to trust cats again. But make the road down this character arc be something she truly initiated, instead of the weird bullshit they did with her being mad at Smoky for violating her consent while also exonerating him for "Doing The Right Thing :)"

I realised I had to refine Ceroba for my au…
In the cowboy swap au, Ceroba is actually the Sheriff and leader of the Feisty Five. Clover is still the Deputy and goes by “Lucky Star”. He loves hanging around town with his Mama ☺️. I haven’t come up with a cool cowboy name for Ceroba yet, although she probably wouldn’t use one :/

I enjoy shipping, but I cannot see the appeal in watching shows only for the purpose of shipping; I think it closes you off to so much. I think coming into a work with the expectation that it will only succeed if a particular configuration of people end up happily in a relationship with each other when the curtain closes means you will reject so many unexpected choices altogether. It destroys your ability to appreciate the entire concept of tragedy. Just, imagine refusing to let yourself enjoy "I'm not a gardener" because you are too furious that a different kiss than the one you wanted happened to feel other emotions.

i need to share the absolute fucking Experience i had playing minecraft tonight. i'm gonna be emotional about it for days
so me and my friends like to play on this server that's pretty much just a bunch of minigames. one of them is Murder Mystery - of a group of - i think its 13/14 people - one person is randomly selected as the murderer (spawns with a sword), the other as the sheriff (spawns with a bow). the rest are innocent. the innocents can gain a bow by collecting coins. no one knows anyone's status unless the player shows their sword/bow. i'm doing a quest where, in order to get points, i need to kill the murderer.
so as the game start countdown begins, me and my pal are checking out this Red Link skin. it's pretty neat! we're all crouching and punching at each other, as one does. i feel a connection form with Red Link. we're buddies now. we're in this together.
so we're all running around the map. every time i see Red Link, we crouch and punch at each other. the game is going fine, we're having fun. i'm delighted that i've made a one-game friend.
then my friend says that Red Link is the murderer, and i literally have a hard time believing it. Red Link? my Red Link? no, they must be mistaken. we were together at the start. they had ample opportunities to kill me. it can't be Red Link. but whoever the murderer killed was the sheriff, and i needed to complete the quest - picking up the sheriff tombstone grants me the bow.
so i run, trying to find it, and i turn the corner.
there Red Link was, standing at the end of the hall, by the tombstone, with a sword in hand. i froze. i was so upset - not Red Link! not my dear companion! i was so sure that was it.
but i walked forward anyway, thinking that maybe if i dodged around them, grabbed the bow, and turned and shot fast enough, i could get them. the thought was actually distressing! Red Link didn't put the sword away. they watched me slowly approach. we stood on either side of the tombstone, and i expected Red Link to cut me down. i was well within reach of their sword.
Red Link calmly, still looking at me, moved to the side and past me. i panicked and grabbed the bow, ran to the corner, turned and drew - Red Link was already at the other end of the hall, running away. i didn't want to shoot, but i needed the kill - who knows when i'd get an opportunity to complete the quest again. it's a tough one.
i missed, thank fuck, but man. i was in shock. i thought i was a goner.
then, after the game where awards are given - the murderer, who killed them, who collected the most coins - i went up to Red Link and crouched. they crouched back.
then they left the game.

Are there any other wizarding families that are underexplored in canon and pique your interest in a similar way to the Blacks?
This is a unique function of what food my brain worms like to eat, but no one's doing it like the Blacks. The drama? The intrigue? The Gothic horror? The prodigal sons and lost daughters and killers and sinners and martyrs and saints? The wizard Catholicism of it all? The story of the House of Black is the best book never written.

Imagine: Journalist/writer Obi-Wan having to go into witness protection with an assigned bodyguard bc he found dirt on super powerful and corrup Palpatine, so he can be protected while the police gather evidence and build their case. Anakin as the special agent assigned to protect him (maybe he's originally meant to be a younger family member/cousin but he sees Obi-Wan and immediately says: nvm, change my cover story, I'm going to be his husband, toss out the bed in the guest room)
ooo this but to add another lil element, anakin hasn't always been in palpatine's pocket...but he is now. when he was hired, he was gold, he was innocent, he believed in the cause and in the importance of his station. it's just. eventually, palpatine gets his claws into him. and he's so convincing. and he's so manipulative. and anakin just falls into being just another part of palpatine's corrupt network of contacts
and so when obi-wan's article is published, with more promised to be on the way, palpatine manipulates the situation so that anakin is put in charge of guarding obi-wan....maybe he can kill him himself, maybe he can just let an assassin in to kill him. a dark mark on his resume, but nothing career ending. mistakes happen.
but then? he ? meets obi-wan? sees him from afar and then talks with him for a few hours and he's like whoa ok um. what is this feeling. so sudden....so new....i have just now decided....i cannot let palpatine kill you, etc etc
and he absolutely lies to obi-wan and tells him their cover story is that they're married. kenobi doesn't believe it because he's forty-five, he's not an idiot, but then anakin kils the first hitman that palpatine sends after him and suddenly obi-wan is a lot more afraid and a lot less willing to be far from anakin who is really his only protector in this strange new world
