I'd gotten the final volume of the Urusei Yatsura manga today and I'm halfway through volume 16 as is.....
I'm not ready to say goodbye to Ataru and Lum. I'm not ready at all, I've grown to love these two idiots so much. Just like Kagome and Inuyasha, and Ranma and Akane, these two have made their way into my heart and made permanent residence there. God I'm not ready at all. 😭😭😭😭😭

Shiina is saying we should read Inuyasha volume 14 before chapter 16 comes out. I checked wikipedia and volume 14 includes Inuyasha chapters 129-138 which includes The True Master, Wolves and The Girl’s Life. These are the three chapters that cover Sesshomaru and Rin’s first meeting and Rin’s first death and resurrection.

4/16/24 I forgot I had tumblr!!!
Okay so it’s been a while since I last wrote on here😋
Everything is going fine, I’m back at school, and I’ve been binging lots of shows.
In 2 days I watched:
Romantic Killer (I loved it, Anzu is ME)
Kiss him not me (It was actually my first anime, but rewatching it was so much fun. I’m so happy MC ends up with Asuma in the manga.)
Black Butler Circus (It was great; Sebastian and the tiger was super funny.)
I started binge watching Inuyasha too, I’m in love with Sesshomaru ☺️☺️☺️I’m in his age range guys!!!
My homeroom teacher is a confirmed jojo fan and he cosplayed one of my favorite characters (Kakyoin) which is pretty funny.
I’m also writing a story on another account, it’s going well💗
I ALSO HAVE 12 VOLUMES OF KAMISAMA KISS!!! I ordered the Tomoe nendoroid and my Kyoya one came in recently.
THATS ALL✨

Inuyasha 6, vol 16, 17, and 18 - Rumiko Takahashi
I have been working through this series (anime and manga) for almost 20 years, and I'm honestly not sure what will happen if I ever finish it and no longer have an open Inuyasha tab in my brain.
The Buffy parallels are particularly strong in this volume...or maybe I am just in a particularly Buffyish mood right now.
Action scenes never really work for me in any format, but I particularly wish I was better able to parse the fight scenes in Takahashi's art, because I do really enjoy the story.
The tree was gorgeous in the last few scrolls.

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?
Alphabet Asks
I'm not sure what counts as being in a fandom, bc I've loved 10th Kingdom for 20+ years, but I wouldn't consider myself in the fandom for it..
Eh I don't wanna talk about the truthful answer, because it depresses me, so let's go for a fun one.
I would definitely count AtLA and I got into that 16 or 17 years ago. I still love it so so much <3 Very close behind is InuYasha with 15 or 16 years :)) I have so much fondness for the anime still, and I'm like four volumes away from completing my collection of the manga series!

Part 3 - Chapter 4 - Busy As A Bee
Blank Canvas Part 3
AO3 - here
Fanfiction.net - here
Happy Tuesday, dear readers! After the angst of last chapter, we're going back to Izuku's consulting sessions. And a nice bit of fluff towards the end. ;) You'll see...or rather read. :P
Linktree to all the things!
End notes for the chapter are under the line.
Shouto is making some moves. ;) Some progress for y'all in the TodoDeku front. I have lots of ideas for them but could always use more! :D
More costume changes! Not for everyone but for the ones I felt needed a more visual reference. Tenya's I'm not sure if he would be willing to change the actual design of it. Perhaps slightly but still keeping the style close to the same. He is supposed to be acting as Ingenium until his brother gets better after all. Also I know that the first hit from Stain is to the shoulder for him where there is no armor, but when Tenya protects Shouto from the thrown knives they go through the armor on his forearm.
Ochako's would basically be the same but looser and with gear she gets later in canon a bit earlier. Still room for practice and improvement though. And she still will have to work on being able to use her quirk on herself for longer periods of time.
As for the actual changes, we've got Eijirou's! The reference to polyurethane is from canon. It's mentioned as part of his costume in the notes before chapter 145 in volume 16 of the manga. The rest is just from google searches so if I got it wrong let me know.
Then there's our first from 1-B, Shiozaki! Like seriously, a toga? No! Protection. Though I'm not sure if she would be willing to change to something so different. I actually wanted to see what you peeps thought about it. :) Also sh-sh-shout out to Divergent and Christina on for their two cents on how Shiozaki absorbs sunlight. ^___^
And we have Shouto's! I feel like he wouldn't necessarily care how his would look like. Mainly based on his first one that was just terrible. Then there's the janitor version that I'm certain is also meant to be similar to the flaming turd of a man. No thank you. Shouto is his own hero. (But I do like him in the dark blue still.)
Now I know some of you think that Izuku shouldn't hide from 1-B. For reasons as stated in the chapter, he will for now. However I do have a point planned for him to be introduced as himself and not Hiro to 1-B. All in due time.
Fun Facts About Japan:
For Shiozaki's proposed costume change, I did look at those traditional clothing I mentioned in chapter. The first being the shrine maiden or miko ( 巫女 , みこ ) who wear hakama ( 緋袴 , はかま ) which are red pleated pantskirt, a kosode ( 小袖 , こそで ) a white precursor to the kimono with shorter sleeves, and typically with ribbons in their hair. Though Shiozaki wouldn't need that. Then there's the traditional archery clothing of a keikogi ( 稽古着 , けいこぎ ) a traditional practice top clothing, hakama but in various colors instead of just red, and various other pieces. Basically I see Shiozaki dressed up similar to Kikyo in Inuyasha.
That's all for this update! More consultations in the future though we're going to have something a bit different next chapter. A secret for now though. ;) Thanks so much for staying with me through this long ass story. Have a great day and hope you enjoyed the chapter! Bye bye!
Oh also, if anyone has ever made any fanart for this I would love to see it. ^_____^ Any and all would be welcome. You can share it with me on the discord or the tumblr. And if someone were to not want it publicly linked to the fic but still wanted to share, that is also a-okay with me. I would still love to see 'em. Okay, now bye bye. :P

The Two Beast Kings
At his daughters’ crisis, Sesshōmaru makes his satisfied appearance! It appears he has some kind of connection with Kirinmaru but their intentions are still unclear. In what way will the two beast kings be involved in the fate of the Yashahimes?
While chasing Tōtetsu who is the last of the Four Perils, Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha finally confront Kirinmaru. The three of them are overwhelmed by Kirinmaru’s immense power. Saving the girls from a desperate situation was none other Sesshōmaru. The impact of the clash between the two great demons shook the earth and was put to an end in a moment. While Towa and others are left pondering what the relationship between Sesshōmaru and Kirinmaru is, they somehow managed to survive the fierce battle.
The spirit of the Tree of Ages considers Kirinmaru’s existence as one that should be killed. However, looking at his actions, they do not seem to be simply “evil”. Kirinmaru intended to defeat Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha as they were “the half-demons who would take his head”. However, he could’ve buried the three with one strike of his overwhelming strength. It appeared as though he was not taking the battle seriously in episode 18.
On the other end, although Sesshōmaru saved the girls from a crisis, it looked as though he was not truly hostile towards Kirinmaru. The meaning behind Kirinmaru’s words to Sesshōmaru “I will still have you work for me” puts a weight on one’s mind.
The relationship of the two beast kings who bare many mysteries. It might be a little longer before the full picture behind their motives becomes visible.
Character Bios
Sesshōmaru A proud, ruthless greater demon whose father is the Dog General. Towa and Setsuna’s father. (A man of) very few words, he does not show his thoughts for the most part.
Kirinmaru A beast king on par with the Dog General. He was in a long slumber but was awakened by his elder sister, Zero. Apparently, he’s trying to destroy this world to a degenerate state.
Jaken A small demon who serves under Sesshōmaru. Cowardly but helpful, he placed upon himself the role of child rearing and caretaker to Towa and Setsuna who had been taken from their mother not a moment after being born.
Rin Towa and Setsuna’s mother. She accompanied Sesshōmaru for a long time as a child and has faith in him. For some reason, she is currently sleeping within the Tree of Ages.
Higurashi Towa In order to save Setsuna who had her memories and dreams stolen, she searches for the Dream Butterfly. Her explosive power when Setsuna was driven to a corner was enough to leave a scratch on Kirinmaru.
Setsuna Even in the feudal era she sometimes plays the violin she borrowed from Mama Moe. The details on how she came to wield her favorite naginata, Kanemitsu no Tomoe, will become clear?
Moroha Although she is Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter, in order to escape Kirinmaru, she was placed in the care of the wolf demon tribe in her early childhood. She carries the sword Kurikaramaru, which she received from her master, Yawaragi.
The Mystery Behind Sesshōmaru’s Actions
14 years ago, Sesshōmaru took a newborn Towa and Setsuna from Rin and sheltered them in the forest of the Tree of Ages in order to keep them away from Zero and Kirinmaru. However, 4 years after that when Zero burned the forest, Sesshōmaru tolerated her actions. The intentions behind what he is thinking is unreadable.
The Dream Butterfly and Rin
The Dream Butterfly steals Setsuna’s dreams and takes them to Rin who is sleeping within the Tree of Ages. It seems Kirinmaru has something to do with the actions of that Dream Butterfly. What is Kirinmaru’s “profound plan” regarding the Dream Butterfly that Konton of the Four Perils spoke of? And what is the reason behind Rin’s slumber?
Moroha’s Master
Yawaragi, the wolf demon who trained Moroha who was separated from her parents and raised by the wolf demon tribe. The of two them broke their ties 3 year ago but reunited due to Konton’s trap and fight each other as teacher and student. During that battle, Yawaragi explains to Moroha how to fight without becoming Beniyasha. Putting her life on the line, she bestows upon Moroha the grand technique “Crimson Backlash Wave”.
The One Who Will Defeat the Beast King
The prophecy the Shikon Jewel once told Kirinmaru was “(The one who will destroy Kirinmaru) will be one who is neither human nor demon and can impossibly traverse time”. He seems to think it refers to Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha but the difference in strength between the three of them and Kirinmaru is obvious. Presently, it would probably be difficult for the girls to defeat Kirinmaru.
Inheriting the World of “Inuyasha”, Director Satō Teruo
Following the “Inuyasha” Rule for Shot Divisions and Presentation
— Director Satō, please tell us first the details of how you became involved in this current work.
Satō: “Inuyasha” was the first work I took part in as a freelance producer and it also taught me the fundamentals of production. Afterwards, I was the assistant director for “Inuyasha The Final Act” and because of that, they reached out to me this time asking, “We’re going to make a work that inherits the world of “Inuyasha”. Would you be interested?”.
— As a work that inherits the world of “Inuyasha”, what points do you place importance on?
Satō: Among the viewers of this work, there will of course be those who watched “Inuyasha” but reversely, I think there will be those who come to know of “Inuyasha” through “Hanyō no Yashahime”. I intentionally created the work so that when these people reach the point of wondering “What kind of work is “Inuyasha”?”, they’ll get the same taste (as “Hanyō no Yashahime”).
There’s also a task for “Hanyō no Yashahime” to “Inform the generation that doesn’t know “Inuyasha” that there’s a wonderful work by Takahashi Rumiko-sensei called “Inuyasha”.” Just like “Great Detective Conan” that’s also on Yomiuri TV, families can enjoy (the work) together as parents become nostalgic and the children have a fresh feeling. From there, it would be great if the children are told “There’s a work called “Inuyasha”.”
For that reason, I felt that I wanted to depict the characters that were carried over from “Inuyasha” in a way that didn’t feel off as much as possible. The serialization for the original work “Inuyasha” ran for 12 years and the anime continued for 4½ years, so I think everyone has a complete image of each of the characters within themselves. I’m conscious of trying to stick to that set image people have of “This person was this kind of character.” as much as possible.
— Director Satō, you were directly in charge of the storyboard for episodes 1, 2, 4, and 6. What sort of things are you mindful of as you create the images?
Satō: In “Inuyasha”, there was something like an ““Inuyasha” rule” for shot divisions and presentation. I wanted “Hanyō no Yashahime” to inherit those rules. Episode 1 for the most part depicted “Inuyasha” since then so we couldn’t exactly break away from that rule. However, starting from episode 2, if we suddenly used a different shot division method that feels as though it’s from a different work, the viewers probably wouldn’t be able to follow along. Thus, in order to show that rule from the start, I did as much of the storyboard as I could myself.
— What kind of rule is it exactly?
Satō: For example, how Inuyasha releases the “Wind Scar”. Also, I was frequently asked “Tessaiga is always written with dokkun (translator’s note: pulsing sound effect) but what is the “dokkun disposition”?” or “What is “mokomoko”?”. The pulsing Tessaiga does when it transforms is what we call the “dokkun disposition”. The “mokomoko” refers to the fluff that Sesshōmaru trails behind him. There are people who call the fluffy scarf worn during events like the coming-of-age ceremony “Sesshōmaru’s Mokomoko” and we call it “Mokomoko” at the production site too (laughs). Conversely, there are many people who give Setsuna’s mokomoko the same volume as Sesshomaru’s like in the “Inuyasha” era, and I remember at the beginning (animation character designer) Hishinuma Yoshihito-san was always correcting them like, “Please make hers more subdued than her father’s”.
— How do you do the shot divisions?
Satō: We use a sort of old-fashioned method of shot division that’s different from the current trend. Currently, there’s a lot of finely chopped, speedy shot divisions and while cutting battle scenes short is easier, we purposely make it one continuous shot so that the battle is endless. My thought process is that I want there to be traces of “Inuyasha” in that part of the screen.
Even the Effects Have Traces of the Parent Generation
— You spoke of Setsuna’s mokomoko but does she herself know of her father’s mokomoko?
Satō: I don’t think she knows. The clothes were probably given to her by her caretaker, Jaken, like “Let’s have you wear this” (laughs). Towa and Setsuna were named by Rin in episode 15 but they were babies, so they didn’t know. Probably while Jaken was in charge of educating them, he told them “You’re Towa and you’re Setsuna.”
— We heard that Moroha’s clothes is the same as Inuyasha’s “Robe of the Fire Rat”.
Satō: Yes. Just like the “Armor of the Iron Rat” that appeared in episode 16, it is made of fabric from the fire rat. Inuyasha himself is inside the black pearl and Moroha was left in the care of the wolf demon tribe, so Inuyasha couldn’t give the clothes to Moroha. However, I think the wolf demon tribe probably got their hands on something similar somewhere.
— What is the reason for Towa’s clothes being a school uniform?
Satō: It’s probably Towa’s own uniform for living in the feudal era (translators note: basically, it’s her way of dressing for the times). Her reason for dressing as a boy is because “It’s easier to fight in” after all, and it’s something I discussed with Takahashi Rumiko-sensei and (Series Composition) Sumisawa Katsuyuki-san many times. As to why we made her core like that. First, starting from her being a child that avoids the standard femininity, we came up with all sorts of thoughts like “Why not just give her an appearance with a Kyary Pamyu Pamyu like originality”. From within (those ideas), it was Takahashi Rumiko-sensei who came up with “It’s easier to fight in”. She said, “Rather than having a complex reason, wouldn’t a simple reason like this be easier to for the people watching to understand?”. That’s how Towa’s appearance and character were solidified.
— Towa’s weapon is also a little different. What she thought was the national treasure, Kikujyūmonji, was actually a fake, and she creates a blade with her demonic power at the part where it broke.
Satō: That part is probably also Sumisawa-san’s sense. Turning the broken sword into a demon sword. Even though she once obtained the real thing through Riku, the result was that she continued to wield the fake one. I think that part makes things more entertaining.
In a sense, “Inuyasha” was also a story about a sword’s growth. Inuyasha’s Tessaiga absorbs the demonic energy of demons it cuts and turns many techniques into its own. On the other hand, Sesshōmaru created the weapon, Bakusaiga, from within himself. Whether Setsuna inherited that or not is something to look forward to going ahead.
— How did you create the techniques for the three?
Satō: There are various techniques such as Setsuna’s “Scrouge of Swallows” and “Cyclone Burst” and Moroha’s “Crimson Dragon Wave”. The creation was basically Sumisawa-san coming up with the (kanji) characters and us coming up with how to portray them. We had the photographers match the shade and disposition of the effects to the parent generation and lineage. Towa and Setsuna have the same blue and green as Sesshōmaru and Moroha has the same yellow effect as Inuyasha’s “Wind Scar”.
We Want Towa and Everyone to be Happy
— Of the episodes that have aired thus far, which one in particular left an impression on you?
Satō: Episode 15 where Riku talked about the past. It was an episode that was related to the crux of the story and I think it was a crossroad of the past. The fact that it only appears as flashbacks to the three princesses who are the lead characters is characteristic. It was to the point that I was surprised on the day of the recording like “Oh, they’re not here!”. For this episode, we had Yamaguchi Kappei-san, the role of Inuyasha, do the commentary for the PR spotlight and it had an “Inuyasha” feel to it. Rin has grown-up a little bit but for her acting, we ordered that we “Want you to be conscious of childhood Rin” when addressing “Lord Sesshōmaru”.
— Episode 15 was also the episode that revealed Rin was the mother of Towa and Setsuna. What were you conscious of when depicting Sesshōmaru and Rin?
Satō: Regarding that, it was something I wondered about the most as an Inuyasha fan when my work in “Hanyō no Yashahime” was decided. Since Rumiko-sensei did not depict this, there were probably fans that had complicated feelings with how the relationship between the two is presented… In that sense, I’d say it’s best to make it so that the two can properly live together in happiness. How do I put it, it’d be hard to look at if things stay as they are.
— Director Satō, you yourself want everyone to be happy.
Satō: Correct. The moment “Inuyasha The Final Act” ended, I thought everyone would be happy, but it ended up like this… Based on the actions of the other characters, I would like to shape Sesshōmaru and Rin-chan’s afterwards in a way that everyone can agree to. Regarding Moroha, there’s the matter of when she will meet Inuyasha and Kagome. It would make me happy if you could pay attention to that part going forward.
— This month we published an illustration of Sesshōmaru and Kirinmaru (P. 42~). Director Satō, do you have any situations you would like to see in future copyright illustrations?
Satō: As a fan, I would like to see the parents and children sitting together. “Inuyasha, Kagome, and Moroha would be there and beside them would be Sesshōmaru, Rin, Towa, and Setsuna” like they had a family gathering at New Years. I think that kind of situation would be fun. However, in actuality I think that might be difficult as the dog brothers don’t get along (laughs).
— In episode 18, Sesshōmaru finally appeared before his daughters and that created major movement in the story. Please tell our excited readers some highlights going forward.
Satō: Episode 19 is a story where the demon slayers play an active, albeit not serious, role. You could say it’s a breather episode and it feels as though the tempo is completely different from episode 18. However, please enjoy it while relaxing (laughs). Following with episode 20, Shiori-san, the half-demon who appeared in “Inuyasha”, will make an appearance. It is an episode where she and Setsuna will interact. Sumisawa-san thought that in order to depict half-demons, this was something that couldn’t be left out and Inuyasha walked down this path as well. Then, the final chapter begins in episode 21. Things will move all at once. Zero, who started appearing in episode 14, will especially be a key person going into the final episode. Please pay attention to her relationship between Kirinmaru and Sesshōmaru.
Having Takechiyo Around Is A Big Help!
“Takechiyo is fun to move. As a therapeutic mascot character, just him being there is a big help and he has room for growth going forward. From the start, Takechiyo was born from “having a character that could be messed with in some way or another like Shippō” but he feels completely different. Also, with Fairouz Ai-san’s tenacious acting, he has grown into a very good character. Apparently, he’s a favorite of Sumisawa-san (laughs).” (Satō)
Sesshomaru’s on A Different Level! The Role of Sesshōmaru, Narita Ken
Episode 18 was his first appearance outside of flashbacks. The impression I got was that it’s as though Sesshōmaru thinks Kirinmaru is “Not an opponent worthy of my time”. That’s why I didn’t even insert a breath and imagined that “he could easily win this” during the scene where they crossed blades. I also checked with sound director Nagura Yasushi-san like “Would you like me to insert a breath?” but he said, “No need”. On the other hand, Kirinmaru was taking breaths so I really think Sesshōmaru is on a different level. Even my impression of Hosoya Yoshimasa-kun was… the level is not the same. Just kidding (laughs). Hosoya is quite adorable so it was fun doing (the scene) with him. What will become of the relationship between Sesshōmaru and Kirinmaru is something to look forward to going ahead.
Today’s Diary
This month we visited Sunrise’s studio #1. The selection begins in the conference room lined with plastic models of Sunrise’s works. Hishinuma-san, what do you think seeing all these works we have collected? **
“We created “Hanyō no Yashahime” with the intention of simply gearing it towards the children of today, but there’s a wide age range of contributors. From elementary schoolers to those in their 50s, I can really feel that the work is loved by everyone. It seems there are many people whose deep-rooted support for us stems back to the “Inuyasha” era.”
Which character is the easiest for you to draw?
“The one who’s easy to approach is Moroha. There’s a part of her that resembles her father (Inuyasha) so at first, I was conscious of copying (him). However, over time, I gained the ability to bring out her uniqueness.”
Who is the most popular on-site? (translator’s note: aka the studio)
“I’d have to say there’s a lot of staff who say, “I want to draw Moroha!”. When the plans were stood up, Towa and Setsuna were the two protagonists but Takahashi Rumiko-sensei’s design of Moroha was so appealing that the 3 of them became the main characters you see now. That’s why I want the on-site staff to love on Towa and Setsuna more! Especially for me, I want to continue to sympathize with Towa and watch over her growth with the emotions of a foster parent. Of course, the parent that gave birth to them is Rumiko-sensei.”
The main story is finally approaching its climax. Please show us your enthusiasm.
“My main job right now is designing and copyright illustrations but the staff are working hard towards the climax that will be at the end of March. The story development is going to be hardcore, but I would be really happy if you continued to support us. Look forward to it!”
** Back story: This month’s Animage held an art contest for Yashahime with the judge being animation character designer, Hishinuma Yoshihito. Also, this page has a “One point lesson” on how to draw the 3 girls. However, that one is heavily image reliant so I will not be translating it (I do not post scans as much as possible).

WIDEBAN EXTRAS VOLUME 16 - THE FRAGMENTS OF THE SHIKON JEWEL
It drastically increases the powers of demons and humans
It’s said that the Shikon jewel grants any wish. If it’s put inside one’s body, no matter if human or demon, it immediately provides them amazing strength. Demons see their demon power increased and, in the same manner, humans acquire extraordinary vigor. For this reason, during wars in the Sengoku era, evil people with big ambitions were after it. Later, the jewel was broken into pieces and the demons competed against each other to get them.
It turns humans into demons and half demons into humans…
The huge power of the fragments of the Shikon jewel can totally change the body of the individual who possesses them. That’s why a demon can visibly change and grow bigger, depending on their species. It can even turn humans into demons and half demons into humans. It’s only necessary to ask the fragment to do it. Toukajin, who desired a superior power, put a fragment on his belly and it became harder, as if it was made of steel. Originally, Toukajin was a human, however, the appearance and the strength he acquired when using the fragment were those of a demon. There were also individuals who asked for eternal youth and beautifulness such as Tsubaki, the black/dark miko. These fragments reply to the ambitions and the desires of those holding them and lend them their powers to fulfill them.
(page 2)
They make the dead stay in this world
The fragments not only have influence over living beings. They also grant incredible demon power to mere “objects”.
For example, the fragment of the jewel that was found in a battlefield, considered an evil place, granted demon power to the ink of a painter and materialized the drawings created with it. By doing this, the ink tried to get an even more malicious power demanding for blood and guts. The fragments were also used to enhance Bankotsu’s giant sword, Banryu. This weapon is weaker than Inuyasha’s Tessaiga, but later it’s at the same level and creates a gust of warm wind that defeats the “kaze no kizu”.
It also grants power to objects
The fragments can also make individuals who are about to die stay alive, and even revive the dead. All the members of the band of the seven had already died once, however, they came back to life thanks to the fragments of the jewel given by Naraku.
They were immortal as long as they had their fragments inside their bodies. This is also why Kohaku could stay alive despite being critically injured.
It was born in the battle between a miko and some demons
The jewel was born from a mix of the souls of a miko and some demons. During the Heian period (794-1185), that miko called Midoriko, who possessed great spiritual power to the point of being able to defeat a great number of enemies at once, fought against a huge demon that was made of more demons joined together using the body of a human. The battle went on for seven days and seven nights, until Midoriko was almost devoured by the demons. It was at this time that she managed to snatch the soul of the demon, combined it with her own life and threw both of them out of her body. This is how the jewel of the four spirits was created.
(page 3)
-The continued battle between the sacred and the evil-
It can be good or evil depending on who’s carrying it
Even after 500 of being born, the battle between Midoriko and the demons is still on inside the jewel. Their powers are in constant competition and follow an endless confrontation. That’s why the jewel senses the sacred or evil energies and can turn into either good or bad. If someone pure has it, the jewel is purified, and if it’s the opposite, it gets contaminated/polluted and turns black. For the bad individuals, the polluted jewel adapts better to their bodies.
It snatches the soul of those who use it
The jewel holds such great demon power that severely affects the body of the one who puts it in their body. This doesn’t change if it’s broken into pieces. Maybe demons who are strong enough are able to control it and stay conscious, but weak demons and humans soon lose control over themselves. As the jewel grants their wishes, that is to say, their ambitions, those with evil intentions are after it. Those who expect to get superior power using it must pay a price in accordance with their wishes.
It controls those around it to collect fragments
The jewel broke into pieces with the hamaya (sacred arrow) that Kagome shot at it. The fragments got scattered everywhere and it was very difficult to put the pieces back together. Even so, some demons want to have them and go collect them. At some point, due to a strange coincidence, they start to gather in a single place. You could say the fragments want to meet the others again on their own will, so they manipulate humans and demons alike. Little by little, not counting some exceptions, they start falling into Naraku’s hands.
(page 4)
It seeks to remain in this world through time
The jewel was born in the Heian period, it passes through the hands of several persons and different demons and finally reaches the hands of a miko who lived in the Sengoku era, Kikyo. The jewel, completely polluted by that time, was purified by her. However, due to Naraku’s plot, she’s injured, the jewel is burnt along with her body and it disappears from this world. But the jewel hides inside Kagome’s body and it comes back to the Sengoku period, as if this was the jewel’s will.
It will disappear if the correct wish is made
It will be purified and disappear when the last person who has it will make the correct wish… This is one of the legends about the jewel of the four spirits. Inside it, the sacred and the evil fight each other for such a long time that it looks like an eternity. When someone makes the correct wish, this battle will end and the jewel will be purified. In the past, Kikyo believed that wishing for Inuyasha to be human would purify the jewel. She believed the correct wish was to transform a half demon with a wild soul into a good man. Another reason why she considered this was that the jewel was very pure at that time, since it had been purified by herself. However, Naraku’s plot impeded Kikyo’s wish. The jewel still longed to keep existing.
(page 5 - interview with Rumiko Takahashi)
The fragments of the jewel are great news
The jewel enhances the demon power for humans and demons, that’s why I think this power was famous on both sides. I think that, for the latter, it was great news that the jewel had broken into pieces… For demons, it was like someone was throwing money from above. That’s the reason why they went after the fragments quickly.
The jewel’s role
In the story, the fragments are its vertical line, which grants a goal to the main character. This goal is to gather the fragments of the jewel, and always in the places where they’re found something is happening. There’s always some kind of incident. This is because there’s no way everyone is happy with the presence of a fragment around them. If this happened… it would be surprising. I never thought about it during the serialization, but had this ever happened, Inuyasha’s group wouldn’t be able to take the fragment by force and it would’ve been a dilemma for them. Maybe it would’ve been good to create a chapter like this; however, almost always a bad guy takes hold of the fragment and shows off while putting it in their body… Demons are that way, right?
The Raijuu Brothers served as an example for this. They were delinquents, so low that when they found someone stronger than them, the first thing they did was beat that individual to prove they’re stronger… It was obvious they never thought what could happen next. I have the impression that demons are ephemeral creatures, but in the story they have their own reasons to get the fragments of the jewel, as they need to be strong at any cost. That’s why you could say this is their instinct for survival.
Almost everyone who gets a fragment gets unhappy. I imagine this means the fragments had to have a “negative energy”. Since ancient times it's been common for some objects to grant wishes in exchange for something. Come to think of it, in many tales good fortune goes to people who didn’t wish for it and those who go after it are unhappy, like in “Tongue-cut sparrow” and “Lump-removing old man” (two Japanese folk tales). It’s close to an invitation to make a dubious investment. Kikyo handed over a fragment to Naraku in the story… This was like bad financing.

A place that brings me joy... (1)
My bookcase...
Tumblr media
Some things there remind me of my childhood and teenagehood, everything is a reminder that I was happy.
Tumblr media
Behind those figures of Levi, there's one, maybe the only manga whose plot has no magic at all. Marmalade boy. Although I read it for the first time when I was 17 and it's a classical shoujo from the 80es with love triangles and all that, I have the best memories about it. Then, there's a manga I still didn't read: Gate 7, I just know I bought it because it's CLAMP's work and I love them since I was 8 years old.
Tumblr media
Jane Austen, more Clamp in English and some reminders I liked Naruto as teenager. I guess I was 14 when it started airing. I read the manga for a while and stopped after 2010.
Tumblr media
Rilke, Art and one manga I started to read not because of the story but the beautiful art: Witch hat atelier. More Clamp: Chobits. I'm not so fond of this story because of the "Ecchi" but the art and some love stories are good. I also started to buy HunterxHunter because... I want to suffer. I love Togashi since I was 12 but I don't think this manga will have an ending. However. I enjoyed Komugi and Meruem's story. Kurapika will be always my fav besides Killua and Hisoka... and Illumi... Well. They are great.
Small hint. I was huge fan of Inuyasha during my whole teenagehood. If it's not already clear:
Tumblr media
Side comment: Saori was some sort of female model for me. Long hair, princess-like dresses and that sight... Then.. more Chobits and off the record... I used to sew plushies as a hobby when I was 16. Atashi and Watashi are from that time.
Now there comes the most tragic shelf:
Tumblr media
CLAMP's Clover and MKR. I'm still missing the second part of MKR. I remember being still an 8 years old child watching MKR and having my first shock because of a sad death. I grew up watching series where girls are the knights rescuing a princess 😂 Feminism what?
Tokyo Babylon (CLAMP).. the only boy romance I read. Well. It's a very toxic romance and a tragedy. But I really liked it.
Then, there's Blood+. I remember my hype when I decided to buy the manga (it was my very first manga) and well... There's a long story. My mother hated everything about japanese culture. When I bought the manga she discovered it (It was one of the volumes of Adagio)... She yelled at me and went to my father to tell him that. I remember she was shocked because of the violence in the story... Yup. But the "damage" was already done since the series shocked me several times before that happened.
Tumblr media
I get that I liked these series because of the love story and its atmosphere... The plot being built over real history was incredible. The manga is average compared to the anime (that's actually something unique as manga is usually better than the anime). The prequel, Adagio, is my favorite part.
Who doesn't like FMA? I also grew up with it. Sadly, with the first anime version that is.... Trash. Sorry. But it's trash compared to the second version and the manga.
Tumblr media
More Levi and over there, my childhood love: Sakura. I blame this manga for teaching me to be (or try to be) a good person with good intentions and a pure heart. Let's say. Everything there happens bc of love and everyone has good intentions. Even in Love triangles. (Another reason to me to avoid stories with mean characters trying to fight over other's heart and so on.. Inuyasha was overwhelming to me as i suffered and cried over and over again about it). Now I can't deal with mean ppl.
Tumblr media
Yu Yu Hakusho.... Well. It's a great manga. My favorite shounen and yeah... Togashi's work. He knows how to make characters I'll end up liking. The romance is great in the end. Now I know it. And guess who was my fav?
Tumblr media
Yes. I bet I had a crush on him when I was 13. I won't make further comments on that.

Brief Exploration of RT’s Perspective on Romance
Post contents are under the cut to avoid taking up too much room and to allow anyone who’s uninterested to skip over it
DISCLAIMER: I’ve changed the spelling of the pairing discussed in this post and made sure to use the proper tags. If this post somehow appears in the wrong tags, I sincerely apologize, but it’s truly due to an error on Tumblr’s part, not any malice on mine. As such, I won’t tolerate any accusations of trolling.
Also, these are my opinions, and they’re not up for debate. I respect that everyone has different opinions and acknowledge that there’s always the chance that I’m wrong, but I’m not in the mood to get into any arguments, especially if they’re disrespectful or emotionally charged. I allow everyone to express their opinions in their own spaces, on their own terms, and I expect that the same respect be extended to me.
tl;dr read and respond at your own risk
Before I came across fandom spaces, I never once considered the possibility of the bond between S*$$h0um@ru and R!n being romantic; everything seemed to unambiguously point to their relationship being that of father and daughter (or that of guardian and ward). To be fair, I acknowledge that there’s always the chance that I misinterpreted everything and that I’ve been wrong since the beginning, but I think it’s telling that, when my only engagement with Inuyasha was with the story alone and I wasn’t exposed to hundreds - if not thousands - of other voices, the idea of romantic S*$$R!n never crossed my mind once. Letting the work speak for itself without any external influence often provides the best insight into the writer’s intent. :)
BONUS: I know that others have already pointed this out, but it bears repeating that everyone is rightfully disgusted upon learning that Miroku made a pass at Koharu when she was only 11 years old. Their horror is completely justified; he’s 4 or 5 years her senior, which is a huge age gap for an 11-year-old, and she regards him as her superior. And yet, it’s worth noting he was just a passerby who probably didn’t count on running into her ever again (i.e. wouldn’t follow through on seducing her) and, thus, didn’t have any role in her upbringing, unlike the case of S*$$h0um@ru and R!n. Showing Inuyasha and co.’s reasonable outrage at Miroku’s fuckery speaks volumes about Takahashi-sensei’s attitude towards relationships with large age gaps; she’d clearly never glamorize this type of relationship dynamic in her work, and rightfully so. With that having been said, if a 15- or 16-year-old boy proposing to an 11-year-old girl whom he hardly knows, even if nothing ultimately comes of it, is portrayed in a negative light, it stands to reason that she would never condone marriage with one’s guardian/protector. We can also assume that it goes against her values to have an adult wait for his young charge, whom he’s been protecting and helping raise since she was 8 years old, to reach a suitable age so that he can marry her and, as the non-canon CD drama portrays, propose to her when she’s only 11 or 12 years old.
PS - Yes, I love Miroku and fucking adore MirSan, but I have no issue calling out problematic bullshit when I see it. My faves aren’t safe from criticism; in fact, they’re even more susceptible it.
PPS - No, I truly do NOT see anything romantic about S*$$R!n. There’s nothing suggesting that S*$$h0um@ru sees R!n as a potential spouse or that she could only impact his life through being his romantic partner. The same can be said for R!n, although she’s admittedly far too young for romance. Their canon interactions primarily consist of him protecting her and seeing to her needs (e.g. constantly checking on her after entrusting Kaede with caring for her). Similarly, her devotion to him is born of her gratitude for his care and his presence in her life and manifests itself in the affection and attachment that she shows him. These interactions are characteristic of the bond between parent and child and lack romantic subtext.

INUKAG Fanfic Rec List - M
NSFW ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Tumblr media
Over the last few years, I’ve suffered from on again/ off again insomnia, where some nights I go to bed, don’t sleep at all, and then get up again – rinse and repeat. Rather than spending all night looking at the ceiling and pondering my place in the universe, I pass the time by reading fanfiction. A LOT of fanfiction. And now you, dear reader, get to reap the benefits.
All M Rated by the writer – some for smexiness, some for violence and language (I mean, they all contain Inuyasha, so…) some for all of the above. Also, I’ve only included COMPLETED fics, so there will be some missing from this list that I would absolutely recommend. I have a huge ass list of uncompleted favourites also, but I understand that not everyone likes losing their heart to a fic only to find out that it was last updated in 2005. Log onto fanfiction.net and go through the fics I’m ‘following’ if you want to see those.
I don’t claim this to be an exhaustive list, or the best of the best. This is just a list of fics that I have really enjoyed and would happily read again, and thought others might enjoy too. There’s probably some that I’ve forgotten, in fact I’m sure there are, so please don’t be upset if you’ve written an Inuyasha fic and I haven’t put it on here!
I’ve also made a SFW list, rated T and under. M rated list under the cut!

Maison Ikkoku: Collector’s Edition, Vol. 1
Tumblr media
Yusaku Godai is done with his fellow residents at their boarding house. Between voyeur and expert instigator Yotsuya, rarely clothed hostess, Akemi, and gossip queen, Mrs. Ichinose (and her rambunctious son), Godai can’t the find the quiet he needs to study for his second go at college entrance exams. And just as he’s about to move out, the biggest distraction of all moves in: the new manager of the Maison Ikkoku, Kyoko Otanashi. She’s beautiful, kind, and responsible—Godai’s dream girl. Well…maybe this ronin won’t move out after all.
Originally published beginning in 1980, Maison Ikkoku, the classic romantic comedy by famed mangaka, Rumiko Takahashi (Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura), is receiving a new treatment by Viz through its Signature series. This collector’s edition (the first of presumably ten) is a hefty volume, featuring 16 chapters. The length means that readers get more than a simple introduction in volume one. Godai’s character is well established, as is Kyoko’s, and her background is revealed. The would-be couple have enough interaction in these chapters to develop a strong rapport. In fact, by the end of the volume, sparks have begun to develop, and they even have their first lovers-but-not-lovers quarrel.

And it’s in that final regard where Maison Ikkoku excels, inside that weird space where it’s less about a surface-level “Does so-and-so like me? Do I like so-and-so?” and more about deeper concerns that prevent the two from properly establishing a relationship. Godai is no longer a high school student, and Kyoko is several years older than that, having lived a life already punctuated by major and even tragic life experiences. Though young in a worldly sense, the two are old by manga standards (especially today’s); it would be strange for the series to feature a naive tone that marks so many romantic comedies. Instead, Takahashi strikes a lovely balance between between silliness and misunderstandings that make you put your palm to your forehead and real barriers that are suitable for a story about adults. Without spoiling the volume, the reveal about Kyoko is the most significant of these obstacles; it’s also a brilliant move, because it pushes the character of Godai, who otherwise is still so immature that he comes across as not deserving Kyoko’s affection, a way to grow into that role.
But the touches of melancholy and moments of maturity are perfectly countered with humor in volume one. The four (five, as Godai later discovers) other residents of the boarding home primarily function to keep the comedy moving along, and they all do so in distinct ways. Yotsuya is maybe most immediately hilarious, but Mrs. Ichinose grew on me throughout the volume, which also was the case when I watched the anime long ago. Her son is sometimes in full on “brat” mode, but also receives a nice, sweet chapter in this volume, which is reflective of the piece as a whole: Maison Ikkoku is often ridiculously funny, but never cruel; amid the sex gags and abundance of misunderstandings (often via the love rivals, one of which already plays a major role in this volume), there is always an underlying sweetness that’s present.
The love that Takahashi has for her characters, and the loveability that she imbues in them, is what makes Maison Ikkoku a manga that translates across generations. These collector’s editions may be published with thirty and forty-somethings in mind, but the potential is there to appeal to younger readers who, while having an array of emerging shoujo classics before them, are also being fed lesser works that have achieved unreasonably high levels of popularity. I hope that at least based on the enduring popularity of InuYasha, many of these manga fans will check this series out, though they should be warned—after trying Maison Ikkoku, they may start down a rabbit hole of older classics and may not see the light of day again for a long, long time.

Maison Ikkoku will be available to read on Viz or purchased through Amazon on September 15th.
