also the way shelby was literally so understanding of and kind to martha is really important. martha's obviously a very sweet, gentle, beautiful, and kind creature, but because of her somewhat shy introverted nature (and also like the general atmosphere of high school and the fact that teenagers are a little shallow) she doesn't get the romantic attention/relationships that she desires. she's somewhat insecure and very vulnerable (which is such an understandable and almost universally relatable part of the teen girl experience), and like a lot of other heterosexual girls, she wants to be romantically desired.

and shelby sees this and doesn't belittle martha for wanting to be desired by male love interests the way most people, especially not-like-other-girls "feminists" would. shelby doesn't have the context of martha's life before the plane crash, she doesn't know why this is so important to martha, but that doesn't matter. martha is shelby's friend and a soft, good soul with many attractive qualities, and while shelby knew her for a very short period of time, she sees how special martha is. shelby kindly and enthusiastically reassures martha, promising her that she will get the romantic attraction and the desire from males that she wants - and not as a way to placate or humor her, but out of sincere fondness and from a place of genuine appreciation for martha and all that she is.

#just thinking about how good these interactions are #and how it reinforces the important theme that girls have the capability to experience intense romantic attraction #and have these extreme yearnings to be desired and validated by others #obviously with characters like leah those kind of situations can become dangerous really quickly #but even so girls that crave affection and desire and love from the people/boys they want aren't the problem!!#there's nothing wrong with wanting to be loved and desired and receive romantic affections!!!!!!!!#it's when a) bad men like leah's author bf take advantage of that desire and young girls' vulnerability #or b) this yearning becomes problematic and completely consumes the person #which is clearly not the case with martha?? she has so much energy and love and she cares about/prioritizes a lot of things #besides romantic relationships #shelby goodkind #martha blackburn #the wilds #martha x shelby

part of me doesn't want a peaky movie because the show feels like a good, fitting conclusion and we can come up with ideas for whats next and season 6 was almost unbearable for me without polly, helen's absence makes everything feel so empty and upsetting no matter what even if its a happy scene.

but also... i really want new content because its like there is a peaky blinders fandom everywhere but it still feels like youre screaming into the void talking about it. i miss it in its prime man :((

imbgoing back to bed bc i had only 4 hours of sleep and my throat hurts but . i may have only 11 hours in cupipara so far but it did something i really hate in otomes which is: removing the other LIs from the majority of the story once you lock in another LI's route

#right before u start shelby's everyone cancels and allen straight up blocks your number so ur stuck with shelby #i like seeing all the characters interact together so i dont like this #dandelion does something similar but at least it happens towards the end and its for plot related reasons..

Cloche’ thoughts on…

Yuliya

“Master Yuliya… I don’t know what I can say about her, but she has a pleasant voice.”

• A reasonable person. Maybe it’s because Yuliya is a fellow “outcasted” Ramshackle resident, or if it’s her earnest nature, but Cloche feels a little more at ease by her side. Because of this, Cloche’s polite pleasantries and would come across as a little more genuine, than an obligation due to Yuliya’s older age.

• Please don’t mistake Cloche’s lack of reaction as apathy! She’ll silently play a game of cards with Yuliya for as long as she wants… though Yuliya might have to teach her some of the classics. Though she’s not too well versed in card games, Cloche may reveal a more competitive side if challenged in a game of ‘Egyptian Rat Screw’. After all, the best cat catches the mice, right?

• Cloche doesn’t get the hype of cheering, but can acknowledge the skills and effort put into it. Encouragements feel much more rewarding in small doses. Whenever a Magift game gets too rowdy and the roars of the crowds overwhelm her, she’ll happily tune into Yuliya’s cheers.

• Since finding out about the Yuliya and Ondina swapping from their conversation ‘Binding Bells’ picked up on, Cloche is only encouraged to be on her best behaviour around Yuliya or… “Yuliya”. But wait— What happens if she addresses the wrong master by the wrong name? An instant shock from one of the bells! From then on, Cloche would just call them both “Master Ondina”, which seems to be a viable loophole around the curse’ conditions.

“You have the freedom the refuse the chores pushed on to you but you didn’t… Why is that, Master Yuliya?”

Orion

“If I must come up with something… I suppose Master Orion isn’t a threat?”

• What is someone shining this brightly, like a star, doing in Night Raven College— let alone Ignihyde?! Cloche was skeptical of Orion’s courtesy upon meeting him, but is relieved to find out he’s just like that. Cloche can admire Orion’s pacifism, but a part of her finds the hopeful thoughts to attain peace a little suffocating. Overall, Cloche doesn’t mind running into him from time to time in Ignihyde.

• Please don’t chide her for something she can’t help! Cloche usually keeps her cat-instincts in check, key word: usually. When Cloche is distracted and the animalistic side of her slips out, Cloche would attempt to “paw” (swipe) at Orion’s hair, or just stay still to stare blankly into his eyes with dilated pupils. The way they glow is mesmerizing, like little flickering laser LEDs.

• Family lore. With the little tidbits of what Cloche has been told by Orion, and overheard from ‘Binding Bells’, she learned not to be surprised of who was one of his descendants. (One more person to try to win the “blessings” of.) Cloche finds it intriguing, and would like to know more. To her, it felt like some sort of legendary lineage you’d read in a fantasy novel.

• As a fellow creative, Cloche can appreciate the sonnets and poems Orion would write. …Reading them, she may or may not be studying his cursive. His nicer handwriting seems fairly straightforward but his rushed one? That’s a tough nut to crack.

“You don’t have to …lower yourself to talk to me, Master Orion. It’s really not necessary.”
