"Spine To Skin" hope u like. Was made when my pc was Sputterin'. trying to cram a video section into the main website soon. Still fun to create music videos when time allows. Going to foot walk to a place I haven't been in a decade, collage a video together-- probably last public access station in the US? Iunno. I have to bless a room or something or maybe sneeze on it, get it active for lots more recording.
Too many projects and directions at once, crikey. This post was posted by automated webjackal.

Land and Housing
As a result of decades of land confiscations and discriminatory land policies, Israeli authorities have hemmed in Palestinian towns and villages, while nurturing the growth and expansion of Jewish communities, many of which in practice exclude Palestinians. The majority of Palestinians in Israel live in these communities, while some live in “mixed cities” like Tel Aviv-Jaffa and Haifa.
Ninety-three percent of all land in Israel constitutes state land, directly controlled by the Israeli government. Israeli authorities confiscated much of this land, several million dunams, from Palestinians through several different legal instruments, as documented in a later chapter of this report. A government agency, the Israel Land Authority (ILA), manages and allocates state lands. Almost half the members of its governing body belong to the JNF, whose explicit mandate is to develop and lease land for Jews and not any other segment of the population. The fund owns 13 percent of Israel’s land, which the state is mandated to use “for the purpose of settling Jews.”
Israeli authorities have almost exclusively allocated state lands for the development and expansion of Jewish communities. Since 1948, the government has authorized the creation of more than 900 “Jewish localities” in Israel, but none for Palestinians except for a handful of government-planned townships and villages in the Negev and Galilee, created largely to concentrate previously displaced Bedouin communities. Less than 3 percent of all land in Israel falls under the jurisdiction of Palestinian municipalities, where the majority of Palestinian citizens live, according to a 2017 estimate by Israeli and Palestinian groups.
Even inside Palestinian towns and villages within Israel, Israeli authorities discriminatorily restrict the land available for residential growth. The authorities have zoned large sections of Palestinian towns and villages for “agricultural” use or as “green” areas, prohibited residential building in them, and built roads and other infrastructure projects that impede expansion. A 2003 Israeli government-commissioned report found that “many Arab towns and villages were surrounded by land designated for purposes such as security zones, Jewish regional councils, national parks and nature reserves or highways, which prevent or impede the possibility of their expansion in the future.”
While increasing focus in recent years on these issues has resulted in more state-approved residential development, they have done little to date to change the reality of hemmed-in Palestinian towns and villages. By contrast, in case studies documented by Human Rights Watch in each of Israel’s six districts, planning authorities provided sufficient land and zoning permissions to predominantly Jewish communities to facilitate their growth.

Your video game song of the day:
youtube
Two years later I'm still blown away by the amount of research and care that went into the creation of the End of Dragon's soundtrack.
The traditional Korean instruments, subtle electronic influences, mixed with the more typically western orchestral sounds simultaneously make this soundtrack stand out with creativity while tying in seamlessly with the rest of GW2's music identity.
Quite frankly an extremely underappreciated masterpiece in gaming history.

I feel bad shit insane talking to a wall about dragneel brothers 😭
Anyways silly brother hc that would fit into lore if zeref didn’t have a curse and joined fairy tail and wasn’t actually insane
-Zeref definitely constantly makes sure his out fit is correct and tidy like he doesn’t mean to do it but he just feels more in control of himself that way. And when he sees Natsu’s clothes always messed up and messy he constantly fusses about it after he fights and brushes Natsu off without realizing
-Natsu is zerefs biggest weakness if that weakness was he just doesn’t wanna hurt Natsu emotionally or physically at all like Natsu is his baby. Zeref could never actually hurt Natsu badly sure Zeref is fully aware Natsu can handle anything but if he’s fighting and someone put Natsu infront of that attack he would immediately stop it, Natsu is very important to him and Natsu knows that to. which why he used it to get stuff from Zeref
-I know zeref made lullaby as a whole killing thing but it would be really funny if zeref also created things or other instruments that reminded him of people he liked especially Natsu so there’s a flute out there that’s just for Natsu but will never be found cause it won’t be played unless Natsu finds it. There’s tons of zerefs instruments and creations out there that aren’t for anyone but Natsu
-Natsu likes to draw not well and he draws like a five year old however whenever it does it just makes him incredible happy and carefree (this is totally not based off of that scene in 100 year quest when Natsu wrote in the library books) and he doesn’t tell anyone about it but he likes to draw people sometimes it’s good sometimes it’s not but it just makes Natsu happy and whenever zeref sees Natsu draws he always sits next to him and watches happily
-Natsu’s very short and I mean like 5,3 and it’s cause Natsu has always been small he’s just small and zeref cant get over how funny it is because Natsu convinced half the people he knows he’s taller than he is by just not standing directly next to them it just makes zeref giggle sometimes Natsu literally needs to climb on him for missions but Natsu being small helps them do a lot of things like sneak into vents or something
-zeref is a big hugger and wraps his arms around Natsu head and in a death grip he rubs his face in Natsu hair. Sometimes zeref will lift Natsu up to see things and he always hugs Natsu before lifting him up on his hands
-Natsu and zeref both speak a different language and it’s not a normal language it’s a mix of old language from there town and draconic which makes a weird language no one knows because the whole town was wiped out. I also believe this town had there own customs and beliefs and coexist with dragons just didn’t care for them which is why they knew draconic but so jumbled with some other language Natsu and zerefs culture and language is just incomprehensible to anyone. This town celebrated life and death which is why zeref is named after death and Natsu is the summer it’s like after a volcano erupts new life begins.
-igneel was fond of zeref and wanted zeref to stay with him when he dropped Natsu at his door and zeref still does not know why
-Natsu and zeref hold hands all the time to not lose each other
-zeref has dragon parts like Natsu but more demonic from his curse but he’s rarely seen with his demon/dragon tail
-Natsu and zeref act so similar sometimes there both bubbly in the same way boyishly happy to be around each other
-would elfman Mirajane and lissanna be the opposite of ignia zeref and Natsu I think they have a “who are the better siblings battle
-Natsu and zeref hate ignias “nieces” (the gold dragons ancestors) because they thing there such great siblings when there just the worst versions of them
-Natsu and zeref can never take things seriously there always giggling and confused by the target
-zeref has a cat called misery which is the opposite of happy and is a Scottish fold cat and also purple (ignia also has a cat who’s a lynx or leopard who can’t stand ignias ass)

NASA’s Webb takes star-filled portrait of pillars of creation NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has captured a lush, highly detailed landscape – the iconic Pillars of Creation – where new stars are forming within dense clouds of gas and dust. The three-dimensional pillars look like majestic rock formations, but are far more permeable. These columns are made up of cool interstellar gas and dust that appear – at times – semi-transparent in near-infrared light. Webb’s new view of the Pillars of Creation, which were first made famous when imaged by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope in 1995, will help researchers revamp their models of star formation by identifying far more precise counts of newly formed stars, along with the quantities of gas and dust in the region. Over time, they will begin to build a clearer understanding of how stars form and burst out of these dusty clouds over millions of years. Newly formed stars are the scene-stealers in this image from Webb’s Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam). These are the bright red orbs that typically have diffraction spikes and lie outside one of the dusty pillars. When knots with sufficient mass form within the pillars of gas and dust, they begin to collapse under their own gravity, slowly heat up, and eventually form new stars. What about those wavy lines that look like lava at the edges of some pillars? These are ejections from stars that are still forming within the gas and dust. Young stars periodically shoot out supersonic jets that collide with clouds of material, like these thick pillars. This sometimes also results in bow shocks, which can form wavy patterns like a boat does as it moves through water. The crimson glow comes from the energetic hydrogen molecules that result from jets and shocks. This is evident in the second and third pillars from the top – the NIRCam image is practically pulsing with their activity. These young stars are estimated to be only a few hundred thousand years old. Although it may appear that near-infrared light has allowed Webb to “pierce through” the clouds to reveal great cosmic distances beyond the pillars, there are no galaxies in this view. Instead, a mix of translucent gas and dust known as the interstellar medium in the densest part of our Milky Way galaxy’s disk blocks our view of the deeper universe. This scene was first imaged by Hubble in 1995 and revisited in 2014, but many other observatories have also stared deeply at this region. Each advanced instrument offers researchers new details about this region, which is practically overflowing with stars. This tightly cropped image is set within the vast Eagle Nebula, which lies 6,500 light-years away. TOP IMAGE....Telescope’s near-infrared-light view. The pillars look like arches and spires rising out of a desert landscape, but are filled with semi-transparent gas and dust, and ever changing. This is a region where young stars are forming – or have barely burst from their dusty cocoons as they continue to form. Credits: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI; Joseph DePasquale (STScI), Anton M. Koekemoer (STScI), Alyssa Pagan (STScI). LOWER IMAGES....NASA's Hubble Space Telescope made the Pillars of Creation famous with its first image in 1995, but revisited the scene in 2014 to reveal a sharper, wider view in visible light, shown above at left. A new, near-infrared-light view from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, at right, helps us peer through more of the dust in this star-forming region. The thick, dusty brown pillars are no longer as opaque and many more red stars that are still forming come into view.

you know, i was thinking about frank and his fixation on the Frankenstein's Monster character, and how it's always been this thing with him. I think it started by liking the character itself, especially the old hollywood frankenstein films. The drama and the story telling of the old films is alluring and the morbidity of the story Frankenstein itself is alluring, and we know that he loves the dark stuff.
Though, i really think that all started to shift at some point, once he started breaking bones and specifically after the accidents that threatened his ability to continue playing. So when I heard him talking about finding these frankenstein guitars and those being the ones he loves the most, it made me start to think: gosh does he see himself a little as a frankenstein, sort of like the guitars he collects, after everything?
i mean, we've heard it multiple times: he believes the only thing he's good for is making music and if he doesn't have that, he's nothing. He can't be there for his family and he can't be there for himself. We know just how hard he was taking the surgeries on his wrists. Heard him talk about his fear of never being able to play anymore and time and time again, we hear him talk with affection and wonder about some of his favorite guitars being what he likes to call frankenstein guitars, that he finds left in small music shops.
It makes sense though, doesn't it? He had to be stitched back together and made to work again. Learn to live again, struggling and fighting for it, and when he finds these mix matched guitars built with spare parts he finds them perfect because they play the way only they can play and it's exactly what he needs. He craves loving the weird mashed together creations, after all, isn't that what happened to him? a frankenstien collecting instruments he sees himself in, he sees music as his only real purpose here and maybe two frankensteins can carry that out together.

You know what, I've seen plenty of people throw their Spider origins tales into the ring so let me add my outlandish idea to the mix. For some reason in my mind I have created an elaborate au where the RDA are funded by some 1%-er back on Earth and create a test batch in order to perfect their recoms, only for the test batch they use random people's memories from throughout all of their memory research (no point in tampering with any important memories, after all) and these people eventually create their own sort of society in this cove and in order to remember parts of their human culture they put a heavy emphasis on, like, music and oral stories that range from classics like Lord of the Flies and Homer's Illiad and Odyssey to things like Peter Rabbit and the hungry hungry caterpillar and fairytales and basic nursery rhymes and other children's stories for the little kids to just fun folktales and whatnot to just everyday books we would read today (Twilight and Harry Potter, anyone?) and even poetry and comics. And the music is even more varied. Pop songs and lullabies and folk songs and hip-hop and way more, and as they get more adept at crafting they begin to try and make instruments from back on Earth (I just like to imagine the trail and error going on there) and eventually they get the hang of it.
I like to think all of these stories and songs and genres would just mesh together in the funnest ways possible (Peter Rabbit becomes Little Jack Rabbit, for example; this naughty rabbit who spends his time doing crazy shit like stealing a giant fox's golden goose and narrowly avoiding being beaten by a farmer when he's caught trying to steal his vegetables---instead of "Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the candle stick" it becomes "Jack is nimble, Jack is quick, Jack can dodge the Farmer's stick") and maybe even begin to evolve into their own new stories and whatnot with some Na'vi influence but that's an ask for another time because rn I want to get to the point lol. So a little before Spider is born (in this au Paz is one of these experimental driverless avatars, but unlike the others she remained stationed at Hell's Gate; and Quaritch has an avatar because I said so) Paz flees to these people and Spider is raised there and this brings me to the whole reason I've created this elaborate thing: so Jake is aware of these people and is on good terms with them after the war. They're a direct link to his past and much like him in the sense that they were once human and now walk in a 2nd body, so he often visits them when time permits it but never brings the kids along. Think of this group like Jake's one indulgence after doing his best to fully commit to the Na'vi way. He wants his kids raised in this way and knows he's already pushing it with allowing the scientists back at Hell's Gate re-opening Grace's school.
Now, all of this being said, Norm and the scientists are very interested in the society that has formed. It's not very often a scientist gets to witness the creation of a unique culture first-hand (and on an entirely different planet, no less) and they're curious to learn more about these people. The only problem is that Jake is really the only outsider they trust after all they experienced gaining their independence. Due to this Norm and Max invite some of these people's children to the school as a way to hopefully begin building a friendly relationship that will one day lead to them in turn being invited to their settlement.
This is how the Sullies meet Spider, who is the son of Paz, the lead "Priestess of Songs". Spider is next in line to carry on the entirety of all of the songs and stories both maintained and created by their people, and as such he is sort of the child who sets an example for all of the others and so him attending basically decides if any others will attend the school as well. I imagine this story to go one of two ways: nocorro or locorro, though either way I know he and Kiri will end up besties.
Will I end up writing this? Will I not? Idk tbh, inspiration is to me like a breeze is to summer. Short-lived and often weak. I just felt like telling someone and you're always super nice about this stuff. Anyways there's a lot more I feel should be said about my thoughts but I've already hit you with a lot so if you want to hear more just say the word lol, but I'll stop here.
What an interesting idea! I'm really glad you guys think I'm nice about your ideas, why wouldn't I be! They're always super cool! I love sharing ideas and working on the concepts and headcanons with you guys, shoot me whatever! I know I keep saying it, but we'll be able to go back and forth much faster in a couple weeks lol.
I am very intrigued by the idea of how fast this culture formed if Paz is one of the original test subjects. I know Grace herself has been on Pandora for like, thirty years, so it has been a while, but not long enough for them to forget songs and stories to the point they have melded yet. I'm also curious as to how they gained their independence! Also how did Paz become their leader if she joined later?
Nocorro is of course, fun in this because Neteyam and Spider are both young leaders. They can bond over that pressure and hopefully let loose a little together. It also creates an interesting tragedy, of who is going to sacrifice their place if they are going to be together forever. Damn nocorro always ends up a little tragic.
Locorro would be like, Lo'ak totally being annoyed by this perfect guy Spider coming in and being a perfect role model. Then idk, he tries to get him to crack that image by teasing him or trying to get him to laugh, annoying him until he breaks. Kiri and Neteyam are all "stop flirting with Spider" and Lo'ak is like 👀. Lol poor Spider, he's never had such a hard time being serious he wants to laugh and tease back and be equally as annoying. This is his kryptonite.

A thought about the Music Process®
Tumblr media
Prophet V Synthesizer, one of my favourite synthesizers ever. Ironically, this isn't about synthesizers, though. You'll see
I'm not actually sure what the most in depth way of saying any of this is. So I'd just like to consider it from my limited lexicon (pun intended, for my vintage reverb fans out there).
But the ways i think of it are like this:
Writing / Composition — The act of actually conceptualizing the music, composing it melodically, establishing parts for instruments, writing lyrics, etc.
Recording — Capturing any live performances such as guitars, vocals, drums, etc.
Sound Design — Depending on the genre, this may not be a thing. But for me, it's designing instruments from scratch, curating interesting instruments (possibly paired with some effect chains that sound cool), experimenting with sounds and musical phrases independently of a song's context, etc.
Production — Kind of a blend of the first three, but a sort of higher level of polish is involved and often involves taking each smaller idea and concept to a interesting and pristine level. Usually includes stuff like instrumentation as well.
Arranging — Deciding where all the elements go, when they come in, how they make their exit, etc.
Mixing — Using tools like EQ's, compressors, saturation, and other tools to make individual tracks/instruments/sounds work together in the context of a full song and establishing a distinct sonic style for the instruments and track as a whole.
Mastering — Taking a full mix of a song and doing similar things like with Mixing, except instead of applying these ideas to individual tracks, you're applying them to the song as a whole. Often this process involves trying to reach a target loudness for the song as well as make it as compatible as possible with other platforms, devices, and listening situations.
A lot of people think of these things as separate. In a lot of cases they are.
However. That is not how I do anything, actually. Most of these things, aside from mastering, sort of blend together for me. The writing process may yield sound design ideas, or vice versa. And I always find myself mixing while arranging and writing. And this sort of blending together of the parts of the "music process®" is common for independent musicians these days.
Traditionally, different roles are taken on by different people. Even one role can be taken up by multiple people; most bands do various parts of the writing and composition, while other engineers help with recording, production, mixing, mastering, etc.
Most independent musicians that find themselves taking on many or all of these roles usually admit to not enjoying most of the utilitarian, engineering aspects, and prefer to emphasize their passion for the abstractly creative part of the process (namely writing, recording, and sound design.)
I do every single aspect of my music, and I like it that way. I know that if something sucks, it's all on me and nobody else takes the fall. But if something is good... Well, that's all me too. And I'm super proud of that. But where a lot of people in my sort of position usually loathe half of the entire process, I shall confess—
—I really really really REALLY love the engineering part of everything. I love problem solving with my equipment and learning new things about it. I love trying to figure out how to make new musical ideas work cohesively with things. It's even harder for me than a lot of other people because I do as many genres as I can get my disgusting little hooves on. Engineering ideas and concepts shift depending on the genre, and so everytime I try something new, I also have to learn how to produce, arrange, mix, and master for it. AND I FUCKING LOVE IT.
Of all these things, though, the thing I really really adore the most is mixing. I usually don't do it as its own process; mixing usually is a part of the song creation process for me. It's like another aspect of sound design honestly. But I love fixing things in sound that doesn't work as it should properly. I love trying to figure out how to get all the tracks to fit together and feel coherent. AND I LOVE. THE TOOLS.
This is why I even wanted to discuss any of this. I love exploring and learning EQs and compressors and all sorts of things. I honestly want to talk more about it and use this space as a way to just ramble and maybe share my love for this stuff with people who have no idea what it is or no idea why to care or even find themselves intimidated at the thought of the engineering process.
I have a hyperfixation with audio dynamic compressors. I always warn people that if somehow the conversation we're having is steering towards engineering, specifically compressors, that they have to be super careful or else I won't shut the fuck up. I love them so much.
They all have so much personality and always have their own sound. That's the point.

Tumblr media
Neve33609 Compressor/Limiter
HOW CAN YOU LOOK AT THESE AND NOT HAVE YOUR CURIOSITY PIQUED?? AUGH. I love the VU's (the meters with the needles) so much and they often are what define a compressor's visual vibe to me.
They all have software counterparts that I use (I can't ever afford a real physical hardware compressor lol they run in the thousands)
Tumblr media

If you think about these tools like art tools, right. Different styles and brands of pens, pencils, markers, pastels, charcoals, clays, etc, all deal with the same basic concept and all attempt to fulfill a particular aspect of the process. But you also know that the differences between styles and brands are often huge. Despite all attempting to do the same thing, you know which ones will get you closest to the ideas in your head fastest depending on what the idea and situation is. Audio engineering tools are like that too, especially compressors.
Before computers, these were exclusively analog. Each compressor designed was uniquely flawed in it's own way. Once computers dominated the music making process, compressors went digital. For a while, people were excited to finally make digital compressors that were mathematically perfect. But we actually discovered that it killed the life of a lot of music as a result. The imperfections of analog compressors (and other audio equipment) is what made them unique.
Even if each one does the same thing, they all actually feel very different. And I just get so excited about it!
If you've come this far and actually don't know what an audio dynamics compressor is, that is impressive you stayed with me this long. A compressor in music is basically a device that allows you to manipulate the dynamic range of audio. That is a long winded way of saying you can take a sound and make the quieter parts louder, and the louder parts quieter. Or. You could do the inverse (called expansion). That, itself, is also a long winded way of saying: You can use compressors to make sounds punchier, or smoother, or more controlled, or more present, or more exciting, or beefier, or other descriptors in that vein. You can take a weak sounding kick drum and give it some actual punch and presence. You can take a vocal recording and squish it so that it's really up front and full of energy, helping it to rise above the other instruments without just turning the volume up.
Compressors are so important, that their use and application has — very early on — defined styles of music.
Here's an example where I create different dynamic feels for a drum track using Pulsar's 1178 VST Plugin. I won't describe how it sounds to me, I'm sure you can think in your own way about how the compressor is changing the sound!
I'd love to talk more about this stuff in the future.. let me know if you'd be interested in that. Because I can talk forever. Trust me.
I think I'll create a tag for any audio engineering nerd talk. I'll call it: #Vynamics
(Even if I'll talk about more than dynamics processing.. I think it works..)
Lmk what you think. Thanks <3 (Also I'm delegating #Vyop to be my personal post tag, so from now on you will be able to find all my own posts with that. I'll add this to my blog bio sometime.)

Navigation:   ੈ♡˳Masterlist    ੈ♡˳Tarot Basics

Once upon a time, the Universe encompassed everything without polarity or external existence. It remained unmanifested, eagerly awaiting the creation process:
Within this vastness, we encounter the concept of the Zero (0), which neither stands alone nor represents anything individually but rather signifies the entirety of existence.
At the genesis, the number One (1) emerges, initiating and opening the doors to the unknown. It perceives the universe's beauty with excitement, forging ahead as the first entity. Filled with the will to explore all realms, it is characterized by exuberance and represents the Yang energy (masculine essence).
Opposing the One is the number Two (2), which mirrors its magnitude but stands as an opposing force. It possesses its own identity while embodying contrasting qualities and directions. This duality gives rise to polarity and represents the Yin energy (feminine essence).
The number Three (3) symbolizes creativity and the essence of life. It encompasses the promotion of all things—One promoting Two, Two promoting Three, and Three promoting subsequent elements. As action requires order, the Three brings organization into the mix.
Stability is embodied by the number Four (4), representing order through routine and solidity. It establishes boundaries, emphasizing the importance of discipline and setting limits. By integrating the initiative of One, the intuition of Two, and the creativity of Three, we arrive at the holistic concept of Four.
The number Five (5) represents adventure and experimentation—embracing pleasure, joy, and transgression. It encourages pushing beyond limitations, taking risks, and venturing into the uncertain. Five serves as the number of challenges, signifying a pathway that may deviate from safety.
Reparation takes form in the number Six (6), representing the experience of adjustment and restoration. It signifies the return to one's family, embodying qualities of decision-making, courage, and even shame.

Eternal Recurrence
“Ask yourself the question, with the thought of recurrence in your mind: ‘Is what I am doing now what I am prepared to do an incalculable number of times?’
If the actuality of the fourth dimension is grasped, all history becomes alive. All is, in this dimension, not was and will be. Every moment is. Every moment is living. The world extended in Time is. The creation of the world is in Time. It is all present.
Once we have passed to another moment, the previous moment seems to be gone for ever. But if we could re-enter the moment again we would live in it, be conscious of it. Our experience of it would be ‘again’. But the moment itself would not be ‘again’, it would be the same time. It would be recurrence in always-ness.
Repetition of the same moment is called by Ouspensky repetition in eternity. The moment is indestructible, ever existing, and so in this sense, ever eternal.
The number of existences in the same moment is the repetition of the life in that moment of time. The moment itself is always in existence, and all that belongs to it – all the thoughts, emotions, spoken words, actions, sensations – are re-experienced, re-lived, i.e. the moment is re-entered.
In a description of the creation of mankind given by Plato in the Timaeus, each soul is connected with eternity, but is sown in time. Plato uses the following allegory. When the Creator had mixed the substance out of which souls were to be made – ‘when he had wrought the whole mass, he divided it into souls of equal number with the stars, assigning each separate soul its separate star. Mounting them on these, as it were in chariots, he displayed the universe before them.... They were to be sown each in the instrument of time assigned it.’
They had been made on the model of the soul of the universe itself, but on being sown into bodies and appearing in time, the impressions coming through the senses produced disorder in them. ‘When sensations from without break in upon them, and draw the whole volume of the soul after them’, the inner structure of man is disturbed, and the ratios and proportions existing between body, soul and mind are interfered with.
Now, if man could readjust these, he became balanced, that is, having right proportions, or righteousness. ‘If they should master these, their life would be righteous ... he that should live his appointed time well, should return to the abode of the star belonging to him, and live in felicity in harmony with it.’
Otherwise, each succeeding life in time tended towards a degradation of the individual. The knowledge that the soul gained before it was inserted into the ‘instrument of time’, when it was in contact with its ‘star’, was forgotten in the body. But it was possible to reach it again.
‘The soul of man is immortal and at one time has an end which is termed dying and at another time is born again, but is never destroyed ... the soul, being immortal, and having been born again many times, and having seen all things that exist, has knowledge of them all.... If a man is strenuous and does not faint,’ he can reach all knowledge (through mastering his soul).
This he must be taught how to do; but from another aspect ‘there is no teaching but only recollection’, i.e. the soul, freed from the excessive impact of the senses, can recall knowledge that is already in her.”
From “Living Time and the Integration of the Life” by Maurice Nicoll (1952).

as someone with a hard time voluntarily regressing, do you have advice?
the last time i tried it took me three hours and five coloring pages and a whole season of bluey </3
all the websites i looked at were like "get your paci" a=but i don't have any gear to make me feel small
Hey kiddo!
I know it can be hard to regress sometimes for whatever reason- maybe you've been too stressed, too busy, or just having a little block the same way artists or writers sometimes have. But I promise, you are still a valid little even if you struggle with regression at times.
Regression can come in so many different ways for people that it can be hard to give a definitive answer of how to make regression easier for you specifically, but I do know for some people who don't have the ability to own gear for any reason (living or financial situations) it can be even harder. So Star and I decided to come up with a little list of activities that can help with both! If anyone has any ideas or questions, please reblog and we'll add/answer what we can!
For kiddos who don't have gear because of living situations-
Legos- these are a great toys that can be bought in "adult" type sets, and many people don't question having Legos as a hobby no matter what age you are! Make yourself a little castle, or your own creations!
Magnets- I've always loved playing with magnets! You can get packs of bead magnets for fidgits and sounds, or even just play with the invisible force between two refrigerator magnets!
Playdough/slime - you can buy it or look up some easy at home recipes! Make it your favorite color, and add some glitter or beads to it for a textured play!
Tangles/figdgit toys- I've always loved fidgit toys, but some of them can secretly act as chewies/pacis too depending on textures!
Childhood movies- now that streaming is more avalible, it's pretty easy to access some movies from our childhoods! Personally I love the old animation of Disney movies, but there's also Scooby-Doo and all sorts of other cartoon network shows on hbo and Netflix!
Stuffie party- gather all of your pals and make a big circle on your bed or the floor, and enjoy their company! Ask them about their days, what did they get up to while you were out?
Kids apps- im planning to make a larger post about these in the future, but there are tons of apps that can help the regression process, and it's easier to hide if you're scared of people finding out.
Agere blogs- this one is kind of silly, but I think sometimes it can help a lot to scroll through some blogs that post outfit boards and soft little things! It can help to know you're not alone in your regression too, and maybe you can meet some friends who will help you in the future!
For kiddos who don't have gear because of financials-
Baby Einstein YouTube- if you don't remember Baby Einstein, it used to be a DVD series on learning for kids! They've moved to YouTube, and you can listen to various songs and watch different shapes and colors, it's very relaxing! You can do the same with clips from shows like sesame street.
Tell a story / madlibs- making things up and being creative is a great way to open your little mind. Telling a story about the unicorn who lives in the woods, or making up a silly madlib about the purple horse who jumped the tree. Make up the silliest story you can, don't worry about it making any sense, that's the whole fun of it!
Kids music- you can find playlists on YouTube and spotify for kids music! You can go from instrumental to learning songs like "wheels on the bus"!
Play with textures- at work we have sensory buckets for the kids. Put sand or rice or glitter in a bowl, mix in some beads, bells, cotton balls, or whatever other fun textured things you have around. Just put your hands in it and explore! Take time to touch every texture, try to focus on objects like it was your very first time seeing it!
Blanket fort- take the pillows off the couch, move your kitchen chairs around, take off your sheet if you need to! Make yourself a little oasis, snuggle up, and enjoy the small feelings!
I spy / where's Waldo games- you can play with books, apps, or even just with a friend in real life! I love to play with Star, it puts them in little space almost immediately as they frantically search for "something orange"!
Wear mismatched clothes- I've always believed that matching socks are bad luck in general, but I also think there's something about not having high fashion can help regression tons! Don't worry about the stereotypes of pigtails and overalls, wear those silly leggings and the oversized t-shirt with holes in it! Wear a sock up to your knee and one down to your ankle if that's what feels right! Clothes deserve to be a comfortable reflection of how you feel!
Remember, Littlespace is just like any other mindset. It doesn't matter what you do or don't have, as long as you're enjoying some childlike wonder again. You're just a lil kiddo! That's all it comes down to. Remind yourself that you're valid for healing your inner child and letting yourself enjoy things, you deserve to be a little angel again. Do things just because you want to, just because you're curious, just because it looks good, soft, whatever. Being a kid is learning everything for what feels like the first time no matter how many times you've learned it before. You deserve to experience things for the first time again, to relax, and to heal.
Sending love and always wishing you the best!

February 4th 1593 saw the death of Robert Stewart, the despotic 1st Earl of Orkney and Lord of Zetland. He is succeeded by his son, the equally unpleasant Patrick Stewart, 2nd Earl of Orkney.
I really don't know why some Scots still have a love affair with the Stewart Dynasty, to me they were a mixed up and sometimes evil lot, The Albany Stewart's and Alexander, The Wolf of Badenoch, to name but two, then there was James VI and his persecution of supposed Witches, and the subject of this post, one of countless illegitimate offspring to the ruling Stewart's.....
The illegitimate son of James V and his mistress Euphemia Elphinstone, Robert was the half-brother of Mary Queen of Scots. He made his name through his ruthless and despotic establishment of what became virtually a separate kingdom in the Northern Isles
As a child in 1539, Robert Stewart had been granted the income and lands of Holyrood Abbey in Edinburgh. He was a strong supporter of his half-sister Mary Queen of Scots during her reign, and he was amply rewarded when in 1564 Mary Queen of Scots granted him the Royal estates in Orkney and Shetland together with the post of Sheriff of Orkney and Shetland.
In 1568 Robert extended his landholdings in Orkney by exchanging his interests in Holyrood Abbey with the Orkney estates of Bishop Adam Bothwell, in an arrangement apparently forced on the Bishop. Robert’s new properties included a large estate around Birsay which had historically been the site of a cathedral and for some centuries had been used by the Bishops of Orkney as the location of a country retreat. Over the following five years Robert built what is now known as the Earl’s Palace in Birsay.
By 1570 Bishop Bothwell and many others from Orkney were complaining that Robert’s approach amounted to nothing less than tyranny: in effect his using islanders as slave labour on his construction projects. His chief instrument of oppression, especially in Shetland, was his half brother, Laurence Bruce, who he appointed Sheriff of Shetland. In 1575 Robert was imprisoned in Edinburgh. by the Regent for James VI, James Douglas, Earl of Morton: less because of his behaviour towards the islanders than because it came to light that he had offered Orkney to the King of Denmark, an act that amounted to treason. The following year he was also indicted in Edinburgh. for misuse of power in Orkney and Shetland, but never brought to trial.
Instead, Robert was released, and by 1581 engineered the execution of James Douglas, Earl of Morton by convincing his young half nephew, James VI, that Morton had had a hand in the murder of James’ father, Lord Darnley.
And in the same year James VI made Robert Stewart the 1st Earl of Orkney, Lord of Shetland, and Knight of Birsay. The Earldom of Orkney replaced the short-lived Dukedom of Orkney, which had been granted in 1567 by Mary Queen of Scots to her third husband James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell. This was among the titles forfeited by Bothwell after Mary’s abdication. Confusingly, although Robert was the 1st Earl, there had been a previous “creation” of the Earldom of Orkney, bestowed on Henry Sinclair, 1st Earl of Orkney, by King Håkon of Norway (then ruler of Orkney) on 2 August 1379.
When James III secured Orkney and Shetland for Scotland in 1470, William Sinclair, 3rd Earl of Orkney relinquished his Earldom to the King (he had other titles) in return for estates around Ravenscraig (now on the edge of Kirkcaldy) in Fife.
Further complaints followed about Robert’s treatment of islanders, but he survived to die peacefully in his bed on 4th February 1593. He was succeeded by his, if anything, even less likeable son, Patrick Stewart, 2nd Earl of Orkney. Robert Stewart left an indelible mark on the Northern Isles, both in terms of his impact as a tyrant, and in stone. The considerable ruins of the Earl’s Palace at Birsay still stand, and the ruins of the Palace he built near the southern tip of Shetland’s Mainland now form part of the incredible Jarlshof complex.
Pics are of the villainous man himself, and his Arms, the marks over the Lion Rampant are "Marks of bastardy" These are common marks of illegitimacy. The marks are not always black, so if you see even a single mark through a coat of arms it could indicate a branch of a family that is illegitimate, basically at least half the Stewart line through history, they were a randy lot!
Stay "tuned" for more on this side of the Stewarts in a couple of days time.

One time I made a couple of bowls at one of those pottery-painting places. When it came time to glaze them, one of the employees showed me the different glazes they had available, and she made very, very sure that I understood that one particular type of glaze was not guaranteed to be the same color as it was on the sample. She explained that this variety mixed two different color tones and that the color of the finished product would vary based on which color dominated, or where the project sat in the kiln, or what other colors were near it in the kiln, and so on. I nodded and told her it was fine, but she kept explaining, because she wanted to make sure that I totally understood that the color of my finished project could be wildly different from the color on display.
As she went on and on, all I could think was, "What soccer mom hurt you?" What horrifically entitled people had demanded such ultra-specific color matching from their amateur pottery efforts? Wasn't the fun of this to find out what happened? To try a new technique and new materials and see what resulted? Who cared if it matched a particular color? As I questioned along those lines, the woman explained that people sometimes wanted a specific color to match their home decor and were upset by inconsistencies, which made a certain amount of sense, but it seemed to me to go against the point of the creative process. Why set yourself up for disappointment by demanding an ultra-specific result when you could get joy out of discovering the unexpected?
And it hit me that this should really be the mindset for all creative processes. Every artist, in any medium, has an image in their head of the piece they want to create, but our work is always going to be altered by the limitations of the medium we work in. Pottery changes based on heat or environmental conditions. A musician is limited by the quirks of his instrument. A writer needs to translate a whole simultaneous symphony of ideas into a linear string of black-and-white words. Making art is putting ideas outside of ourselves, which means that there are factors that we have no control over. And why should we demand complete control over the universe? Why should we possibly expect that the world bow to us in giving us exactly the art that we envisioned? Art is creation, but it's also discovery, and the artist can get much more joy if, rather than clinging to their own vision, they gratefully accept the changes that occur in translating the artwork from the abstract to the real. The true joy of artistry requires putting aside one's pride and approaching the work with humility.
I did end up using that glaze, choosing a color that was supposed to be an orange-red color, and ending up with a deep brown bowl that appeared to be carved from wood. It was so much cooler than what I'd envisioned, and it would have been a tragedy if it had come out exactly like I'd expected. By not expecting a particular result, I got something better than I could have made if I had complete control. Not every mistake is going to come out well, but there's still a joy in the discovery. And I need to remember to apply that to other types of art as well.
