OH THERE ARE TONS

My first is SakuKarin - I know what you're thinking, where is this coming from? But like, I just thought, what if they bonded after that waterfall scene and Sakura kept seeing Karin while she was in prison and they became friends. What if Karin could help Sakura in her medical research during the last while they both got over Sasuke together? What if they went on a trip were Karin talks more on her childhood and Sakura does the same? So many what ifs with these two so much that I literally wrote a fic about them. The first ever wlw fic I wrote was a SakuKarin fic. I pretty much was the only one who shipped this unironically.

InoShino: let me tell you something funny. I actually wrote a full on fanfic about them dating in a highschool au and I got both Naruto and non-Naruto fans SHIPPING THEM. The prospects of quiet, reserved and observant guy and outgoing, bubbly girl just had me squealing. Imagine Ino and Shino working together, with Shino using his bugs that could help Ino's flowers grow. These two would have made an iconic duo as they're not ashamed to say their minds and they would have just worked had it been they had interactions. Imagine Ino slowly keeping Shino in mind and everytime they meet she has new information to share with each other. Missed opportunity.

LeeSaku: Need I say more? The fandom speaks for itself.

NaruShika: Reading shippuden, I was fully convinced Shikamaru was in love with Naruto. Like for god's sake, Shikamaru went from not even considering Naruto to believing and putting his life on the line for Naruto. Shikamaru always went out of his way to cheer Naruto up and he genuinely wanted to see Naruto progress. There's so much I want to say but I'm kinda running on borrowed time writing this.

NaruGaa: Honestly, it's one sided but I love angst. Gaara was in love with Naruto and probably still is, you can't change my mind. I mean, remember that scene in the land of Iron where Gaara looked like he was kicked when Naruto shoved him away when he was trying to comfort him. #JusticeforGaara

SakuTen: they should have explored Sakura's admiration for Tenten more. Sakura's relationships with the girls in her life should have been explored more than whatever Kishi did to her character. They would have made a bad ass couple.

And finally Shino x myself: Need I say more? Nope, self-explanatory

since i've been thinking it nonstop, working more on the bestie au made me realize how much i hate writing. anyways here's a snippet:

“Yeah yeah whatever.” Shikamaru glares at the back of Sasuke’s head, unknowingly coming close to matching the intensity with which Sakura’s also staring at Sasuke. “Anyways, are we still gonna visit Chouji after school today?”

Ino scrunches her nose and says, “Yes, and I brought some money to bring him takeout from Bell Ramen.”

Shino lifts the bee -- wasp, it’s a wasp -- to his face and peers at it intently. “If Sasuke will not accept her, perhaps Chouji will be more amenable to this gift.”

Ino clicks her tongue. “Shino, we don’t recycle gifts. Chouji wouldn’t want to be your second choice. Look, Shikamaru’s an idiot, I think you should just go ahead and give the wasp to Sasuke.”

“Weren’t you the one just calling me a genius?” Shikamaru asks, this time anticipating and dodging Ino’s halfhearted swipe at him. He lets his irritation get the better of him for a second and his response comes out angrier than he’d meant for it to be. “Watch it, Ino.”

She narrows her eyes at him, reminding Shikamaru of all the reasons he doesn’t want to be on a genin team with her. “Shikamaru,” she says, making sure to keep her voice low enough that Iruka won’t deem it a major disruption.

He sighs. “Sorry, sorry, I got it, I’m an idiot and a genius and whatever else you wanna call me.”

Ino takes a deep breath, not letting the guilt Shikamaru knows she’s feeling show on her face as she says, “No harm done. I guess.” She clears her throat. “Maybe we’re both idiots.”

Yeah, this is why they need Chouji with them.

ALSO I headcanon Shino to be ace, Hinata & Ino as bi, and Ino as poly. Ino is romantically involved with Shino and Hinata, and sexually with Hinata. Hinata and Shino are queerplatonic partners. They all love each other, but in slightly different ways.
