They fish individually with basket traps, in pairs with line nets, and spear-fish in small teams. They barbecue their catch over open fires on their wooden boats. Sustainable fishing ensures their community’s livelihood. So they selflessly balance their catch size with the highly variable water levels, caused by heavy monsoons, wet summers and dry winters.

Miss Universe Myanmar 2022 National Costume: Queen of Lotus

This year Miss Universe Myanmar's National Costume is created and sewn from linen woven with lotus thread in the Inle region from Myanmar. Inle Lake is one of Myanmar's most famous tourist destinations. Since many years ago, it was a proprietary tradition to make lotus yarn from the lotus tusks that grew in this lake and use it to create and sew handloom fabrics, so the lotus yarn is very natural and valuable. Especially, this costume is to present the style of handmade weaving with lotus thread, and it is to show the Royal dressing style of a princess of that era. Therefore, the outer fabric uses the natural basic colors of the lotus, white and pink, and the inner fabric is designed with the style of a Royal Princess.

KAKKU, A PAGODA FOREST IN MYANMAR One of the most beautiful and difficult to reach sites in Myanmar is a tight group of 2,478 pagodas near Tanggyi east of Inle Lake. Most date back to the 17th and 18th centuries, although the largest was built in the 12th century by the king of the Bagan Empire and the site could have been in use since the 300th. C. Individually decorated with stucco reliefs that were once painted in bright colors, most follow two main architectural designs crowned by needle-stick metallic elements adorned with small bells and an ornamental umbrella.
