i'm rewatching the young dracula pilot and i have some thoughts
the beginning is iconic - and the only time vlad is talking to and looking at the camera as far as i remember
"she's so much like her mother" the count not liking ingrid because of his complicated relationship with magda, her leaving him for a werewolf as we found out later in this ep and he's taking it out on his daughter - it all makes sense
robin hanging upside down in his room - what a legend
the first episode is actually doing such a good job setting up all the characters and the story
i like how it's mostly just a silly little show but it already introduces the dread and pressure vlad faces of becoming a vampire and that feels so real and sad
the scene where the count puts the cape on vlad in the mirror hit me harder than i thought it would probably bc i know where the show is going
"we're vampires. can't escape it. it's your destiny"
renfield in the nurse (?) outfit lmao
"have you come to donate blood?" "no" "it's for a good cause?" "what cause?" "lunch" alskdkjdd
i'm sorry but how did robin go from his hiding spot under the bed out of the door and walk around the castle without vlad, ingrid or zoltan noticing?? they're standing right there!!
the branaughs all going up to the castle one by one - really funny
ingrid is already a fashion icon
did renfield get tortured by a tarantula i totally missed that before and wow am i glad we did not really see that
and then he kills it (imelda) "if it's any consolation, master, she wouldn't have felt a thing" "except your huge bottom squishing her" INGRID lmao
love seeing vlad and ingrid teaming up and act like typical young brother/big sister
the count being dramatic as always but i feel like he gets introduced to being more formidable than he later is but i like it more this way than the borderline only comedy figure he becomes later
the actors are all really good actually but you can tell it's the first episode and it's still a little awkward and they're still working on the dynamics
all in all what a nice little kids gothic horror show that i have become obsessed with, totally accidental, six years ago

My favourite thing about the original Young Dracula show is that the Count and his kids are so obviously unusual (yes even Vlad) yet so many of the characters are just like “aren’t our neighbours nice ☺️”
Like the people who do realise they’re weird are like looking at everyone thinking what the hell is going on and everyone else is like “That’s Mr Count and his children they’re so interesting!”

I love series 5 from Piers point of view:
He gets paid to install and set up a pc for a hot goth girl.
Realises really quickly shes a vampire and is just quietly inlove.
Get asked to look at some private files as the sexy vampire is tech illiterate and agrees but makes sure to use his skills to create a failsafe for himself.
Literally bribes the sexy goth vampire to go on a date with him (which obviously just makes her love him more)
Helps his new sexy goth gf with her nefarious plots to kill her family whilst non-judgementally asking if shes sure she wants to kill them.
Eventually releases a game made based of his new vampire gf and her fanily to great success and uses his new fortune to buy her family home from her dad for them to live together in.

I don't know why, but when season 4 of Young Dracula came out, the only real thing I ever focused on during the show....was Count Dracula's (Keith Lee Castles) arm tattoos as whenever he would lift his arms up, you could always see a snippet of them. And it always had me thinking of why Dracula would have tattoos? (I was probably like...9 or 10 during all this, so i didn't think about them being the actual actors' tatoos and the long sleeves were to cover them). I mean, imagine the ever so elegantly snazzy dracula having arm sleeve tattos? That would be both an insanely cool concept and also an insanely funny one because if he did, I'm betting there is one of Magda and Vlad on there....and perhaps a weird Renfield 😂

okay but the fact it's really common for vampires being gay but we literally didn't get any of it in young dracula!
the count recalling a past lover, he slips up with the wording and vlad and ingrid are like "wait-"
ingrid also was too powerful and too hot to be straight !!
and there's no way magda wasn't as well.

I loved this show as a kid and I’ve always loved Vlad so here are some Queer headcanons about him!
I like to believe that he is pansexual.
He is attracted to many genders though this isn’t something he understood in terms until he got a little older as he grew up in the early 2000s and it wasn’t discussed as much.
I definitely believe that he had a tiny crush on Robin. He saw this energetic and excitable boy and instantly felt connected to him. It started out as friendship but he definitely started falling for him after a month or two. (I’m forever mad that we lost Robin 😭)
He didn’t reveal to the count about any of his attraction towards men or anyone else as he wasn’t entirely sure when he younger how he’d react. I think eventually the count wouldn’t care as long as vlad still stated as his heir.
He definitely talked about it to zoltan as he felt that he was the only one in his family that actually listened to him.
I think that him being queer is literally the only thing Ingrid ever kept secret about him when they were quite young. She loved tormenting him and bullying him but even she didn’t want to hurt her brother in any way that could out him.
On a side note I think Ingrid is also Queer I just don’t see her as straight. (Fun fact: Ingrid is one of the characters that I had a crush on as a kid that I didn’t realise was a crush that helped me realise I was bi later on)
As much as he protested being a vampire as a kid his type is very much gothic or emo once he gets older.
He really cared about Erin.
He’s definitely the type to fall fast.
Would love a version where Vlad is able to reunite with Robin and help him gain his memories back. In my version they’d develop crushes again and get together.
