As the #1 Harrison Ford in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" girlie, Lenora Bell's "For the Duke's Eyes Only", which features a Lady INDIA Rochester and the Duke of RAVENWOOD, is easily one of THE most brilliant contemporary references in historical romance

I have an elaborate backstory in my head for Steve’s parents, but it basically boils down to two extremely hot but extremely insecure but extremely arrogant people staying together mostly because the sex is still amazing.

Film and TV writers need to get better at writing the endings of classes. Why do teachers in film and tv always seem like they’re just starting a new theory or topic and then the bell rings before they’ve actually reached any sort of point.

In 1930 the Indiana Bell building was rotated 90° Over a month, the 22 million-pound structure was moved 15 inch/hr while 600 employees still worked there. There wasn’t interruption to gas, heat, electricity, water, sewage, or the phone service. No one inside felt it move.

*:・゚✧*:・゚✧      NEXT GEN FACTSHEET/BIO
featuring : DOCTOR BELLE ROUSSEAU, professor of archaeology and librarian
inspo: indiana jones ( indiana jones ), benjamin gates ( national treasure ), evy o’connell ( the mummy series )
QUICK BIO:
Belle went on to study her librarianship, and after completing that, she realised she missed studying and completed a degree in archaeology. On one of her digs as a student, they came across a mysterious artefact that no one really knew what to do with — only Belle did. As ridiculous as it seemed, she remembered the runes from a Quests of Yore book and just in time — because Belle threw it as far as she could, and the object erupted into a creeping crystal that soon engulfed three of her classmates. But, no matter, Belle told them not to panic as the crystals were easily broken, and edible.
Of course, creeping crystals weren’t the only artefacts to be found all over the world. And with all the knowledge she’d accumulated from research, D&D and Quests of Yore, talks with Howl, and nights spent in the libraries she was given access to by Adam and Sulley ... it only made sense that Belle would spend the rest of her life doing this. She was an expert before she even knew it.
She would find all these magical artefacts, once thought lost or stolen, and she would either bring them back to their home, or find a way to keep them safe.
She finished her degree and then went ahead to get a doctorate because why not. She works as a librarian now for Walt University, and also as an archaeology professor ( everyone has a crush on Professor Rousseau, lbr ). She travels all over the world, usually with her trusty assistant and her intern.
In her 30s, Belle brought her father over to Elias. Here, he was able to get the medical help he needed, and he now lives peacefully in a house of his own, spending everyday creating new inventions and tinkering with things.
On a more personal note, Belle’s friends worry sometimes that she is ... too alone. She never seems to stay in one place, dating is practically non-existent, and the closest people in her life are her assistant and intern (they also sometimes worry that she’s a bit of a workaholic). She adores her godchildren and enjoys spending time with the families of her friends, but she had never felt that settling down was right for her. Adventure had always called to Belle’s heart, so it only made sense that it was now her one and only love.
[ NOTES ]
she’s learned self-defence over the years and holds herself well in a fight (and, unfortunately, there are a lot of fights because people don’t like it when she takes their stuff !! that they stole !!)
she’s also a crackshot with a gun, but hardly uses it unless necessary
her fighting/self-defence style is a lot of dodging, weaving, and making do with whatever weapon is nearby (frying pan hello)
she also gained a pilot’s license and trained with divers and spelunkers
does she have a whip like indiana jones ?? maybe ????
her colours are still shades of blue, but she wears gold for formal events and happy occasions.
in her 20s, belle was very much business casual and light blue, but now her style has become more practical and sleek, ready to run at a moment’s notice, and her shades of blue are darker or more grey
she also now has a few scars from her adventures, they come and go, but there are a few that stick:
a long scar under her left rib
one along her thigh
and some across her back from a climbing accident

The Black Widow
The Events In 1881 Brynhild Paulsdatter Storset left behind her life of grinding poverty as a dairy maid on a farm in Norway for a new start in the United States. Joining her older sister Nellie in Chicago, she changed her name to something more American: Bella Petersen.
Three years later, Petersen would marry her first husband Mads Sorensen, with the couple opened a candy store in Chicago. The store was not a great success, and within a year had mysteriously burned to the ground. The couple received a large payout from their insurance policy, which they used to buy a family home for their three daughters, Myrtle, Lucy, and Jennie.
Tumblr media
On July 30, 1890, Mads Sorensen died in mysterious circumstances. The first doctor to examine him believed he had been poisoned with strychnine, with Bella admitting she had given him some form of "medicinal powders," but the family doctor dismissed it as heart failure.
On the day of his death, Sorensen had two overlapping life insurance policies, which provided his widow Bella with a handsome payout of $5,000, which she used to buy a 42-acre farm in La Porte, Indiana.
She would change her name again to Belle, and in 1901 married the town's butcher, widower Peter Gunness. Within a year, Peter's daughter died in Bella's care, and he himself would die in strange circumstances when it was reported a sausage grinder and a jar of scalding water fell on his head. A coroner reported his belief Peter had been poisoned, as he showed symptoms of having ingested strychnine, but it was ruled an accidental death - and Bella walked away with another insurance payout.
While Belle would not marry again, in January 1908 Andrew Helgelien from South Dakota accepted her invitation to join her in Indiana. She had told him, "Come prepared to stay forever." Helgelien promptly emptied his bank account and moved in with her, but was never seen again.
Unearthing the bodies On the morning of April 28, 1908, a fire broke out at the farmhouse, and in the burning ruins a body of a headless woman was found, believed to be Belle, lying alongside her three children.
Asle Helgelien, who had been in correspondence with Belle about his missing brother, insisted that the authorities now take a closer look at her property. They found some disturbed areas of dirt in the farm's hog pens, and after digging down 3 feet discovered a foul-smelling gunny sack filled with human remains, including two hands, two feet, and a head. When the dismembered body parts were all laid out, it became obvious they belonged to Andrew Helgelien.
A total of 14 bodies were found, including men, women, children, and an infant. One was Belle's foster daughters Jennie Olsen, who was believed to have been studying in California; however, the vast majority of the butchered bodies could not be identified. The apparently kindly mother had been revealed to be a serial killer.
The Theories The one constant in Belle's life had been her farmhand Ray Lamphere, but in the years before the fire their relationship had become strained, and she had reported him to the police as a danger to her family. Lamphere was arrested soon after the fire, and in November 1908 convicted of arson, but not murder, and sentenced to a minimum of two years in prison. Just 14 months made a confession on his deathbed to a local priest.
Lamphere detailed how Belle had lured a succession of men to her property with a classified ad she placed in the "matrimonial columns" of local Norwegian-language newspapers: "WANTED: A woman who owns a beautifully located and valuable farm in first-class condition, wants a good and reliable man as partner in the same. Some little cash is required for which will be furnished first-class security." When the men arrived, they were robbed and killed by Belle, with Lamphere's assistance. She would slip drugs into their coffee before delivering a fatal blow to the head with a meat cleaver. Their bodies would be cut up in her basement and buried outside around her hog pen.
With Asle Helgelien close to discovering her secret, it was believed Belle decided to burn her house down, stage a getaway, and start again somewhere new. Lamphere claimed Belle had traveled to Chicago a couple of days before the fire to find her body double. They had recruited a woman who thought she would be the farm's maid, but who had been beheaded, dressed in Belle's clothes, and left to burn in the fire.
Rumors have long persisted that Belle did not die in the fire, and in the years that followed there were sightings of her around the United States. The most credible was of a woman called Esther Carlson, who in 1931 was arrested for poisoning a Norwegian-American man in Los Angeles. She looked like Belle, and was the same size, but died while awaiting trial, and modern DNA comparisons proved inconclusive.
